Hello and welcome to another Black Box stream. You are joined by me, Andy FPL Mode and with only a few days left before the season starts, we thought it was a good idea to start talking to you about our teams and revealing who we've got. Obviously this is with a big caveat that things change, but I think I'm probably more locked now than I have been pretty much all pre season. That's been helped a lot by the community shield and we and what's happened in that as well. Not loads of changes in my team because of it, but it does give you a few more hints and obviously with the last round of friendly matches that happened as well, it again gives you a few more tips as to who's going to be playing, the minutes they're going to be playing, whether they're going to be starting at the weekend and that's really what you're looking for. You're looking to make sure that your players you've got in are going to be getting those minutes in the first couple of weeks. Based on the team that I'm going to be showing you today, I am still Looking at bench boost 2, I've really debated over pre season whether I should go with bench boost 1 or bench boost 2. Bench boost 1 looks a bit more balanced, I would say. But the only thing I don't like about Bench Boost one is that for me, I mean, to be fair, bench boost 2 does it as well. It's booking in that early wild card. But then most people play wild cards early anyway. I just prefer Bench Boost two in terms of. Sounds strange, but targeting Sunderland and commentary, which I feel is. Is quite a nice differential from what other people are doing. I also think bench boost1 when you're looking at bench boost1, Brighton are heavily featured in bench boost1 and with all their European commitments, I, I do worry that you're going to be picking those Brighton players and you're not guaranteed to be getting them playing in your team. So I think that's probably the main reason I'm not a massive fan of it, but I, I am favoring Bench boost too and you'll see that in the team that I bring up. So the team's now on the screen and you can see that I have got Kinkski in goal. I struggled for quite a while, I had lemons for quite a while in in goal and then obviously in Bumo started showing that he was looking very, very good in pre season so I wanted to prioritize getting him in. So I've got Kinski in at the moment. To be fair to spurs, they finished the season under Zerby with very good XGC and I'm hoping that carries on. They've invested in their defense. They brought in Senesi, they brought in Van Hecker as well and obviously they've kept Van der Ven. Romero's gone, who was a bit of a divisive fixture, a bit of a divisive player there for them. So I think they've got more at the back. Kinski has been very, very good in preseason. He's looked really assured. Vicario's gone now, so there's no doubt Kinski is first choice. He's only 4.5 million and I think he's. He's a good shout to start the season with. He's got some good fixtures and in the most important thing for me is in that game Week two, they've got Newcastle at home. I'm expecting Newcastle to start quite poorly so that's why I've got Kinski in, so I can obviously play him in game Week two. I've coupled him with Rushworth so Rushworth is the Coventry Keeper. He's 4.5. It's a shame he's not 4, but he is 4.5. I like the idea of wild card and early so I can get this value out of my keepers very quickly from game week 4 onwards so I can free up 0.5 I can put in. If I wanted to keep Kingski I could put Dubravka in for instance and I'm only spending 8.5 on my keepers and I can free up that 0.5 for the rest of the squad. But Rushworth, they've got Hull at home in game week two and the fixtures last year, Coventry versus Hull obviously a lot changes. They're both in the prem now. They both made investments but I'm expecting. Well not expecting but they were both nil nil last season. So both fixtures for Coventry Hull were nil nil and I would love it if that happened again this season. So fingers crossed that's what happens. But Rushworth at 4.5 and Kingski at 4.5 are my keepers at the moment. In defense I've gone for a mixture, a mixture of defensive contribution boys and I've gone for a mixture of attacking fullbacks. Basically Maguire is the first one up. He is a pure defensive contributions person but with the fixtures they've got to start with, I don't think you can really ignore Manchester United. They've got. What is it? Hullaway, Ipswich at home, Everton away. He's also got attacking threat. That's the big thing with him. I think there's a really big difference between Shaw and Maguire. Personally I think there's more of a difference in 0.5. I think Maguire long term would be a bit of a worry because I think with everybody fit, he's not in the first choice Manchester United 11 but for the first couple of weeks I think he's a. He's a fine pick. When Martinez comes back and Delict is back in training I think he's. He's maybe struggling for his place but to start the season I think it's good he scored in pre season and it's. It's the defcon that's the big thing for him. Shaw started every game last season so he's not a bad pick but I do think there's more of a 0.5 difference between them. Shaw's not going to be getting new defensive contributions or not 10 anyway. Whereas Maguire's got a good chance and his attacking threat I think makes it worthwhile going for him. So 0.5 million more than sure. But I think it's worth spending that. And he's been locked to my team for quite a while now. I've then got Ben White and I think this is going to end up weirdly being more controversial than it was a week ago. I had Ben White because Timber's still away, away from being fit to be play. Otherwise I think Timber would have been a really interesting shout. Mosquera and Califiori are both going to be more popular than Ben White, but there's a reason why I'm going for Ben White over the two of them. Mosquera I'm worried about because of all the ESRI concert rumors about him going to Arsenal. And I just feel like Mosquera could eventually just be usurped out of this team. And I feel like if I'm picking this for the first three weeks, I'm thinking about bench boost in game week two, which isn't the best fixture for Arsenal anyway. I'm just looking at it and thinking. I don't think I want any worries with my team and I feel like Ben White gives me more security than Mosquera. A lot of people are going to be thinking about Califiori now. He's obviously been been playing. He got a goal in the community shield against. Against City. If you looked at it, though, I still worry about him with the fact that he goes off early in some games. I still worry about him and the fact that there's no DC, there's no defensive contributions from him. White played 90 minutes. White got 12 defensive contributions against Manchester City. And I don't think any other Arsenal player. When I looked, I'm not sure whether this was the same at full time. Don't think any other Arsenal defender got more than three defensive contributions. He got 12. So I really like that for him. I like the fact he's playing 90 minutes a king. I like the fact he's getting defensive contributions. I like. I don't think you can expect Califiori to score every week, whereas White getting those defensive contributions could be a thing. So I quite like that. I like the fact that maybe he's the one that tucks in. He does get forward at times as well, but I think White is still a pretty good pick. It could be that Califiori scores again in the first three weeks, but I think White is a really good pick there, so I'm gone for him. I've then got Ballard at the back as well. I had Hume for quite a while, but I have 0.5 to spend on. I think Ballard. Ballard is pretty nailed in this team. Whereas Hume, there's every possibility he either sees less minutes or he all of a sudden gets dropped. He played more minutes than anybody else and started more games than anybody else for Sunderland last year. So I think Hume is still a good pick and it's 0.5 less but gotta learn from last year. It's all about the defcon. And obviously if. If they don't keep a clean sheet in that first game against Ipswich, which I'm not really expecting, he could still get his defcon. So that's why I've got Ballard in there. I do think Hume is a good shout but with Mukiele and Aldorete maybe playing some minutes in game week one and two, which we maybe weren't expecting, I think it could be Hume that is a bit all over the place with where he plays. Whereas Ballard I think is pretty nailed. He also, when they keep clean sheets he seems to get defcon. So I think he's a really good shout there. Then in midfield I've gone for the double up of Mbumo and Bruno Fernandez. I think Mbumo's still absolutely fine to start even though he was benched in the last pre season game. It's just about his minutes really. Cesco I still don't think is going to be back for the first game at least. So I. I mean he might be on the bench obviously which, which hurts in Bumo's minutes. I think in bumo's good for 70 minutes at least if he's having a good game, maybe a little bit more than that. But if he's having a poor game he will get taken off around 60, 70, which is a shame. But I think with what he can do, I think it's good to have him in with the fixtures as well. Two promoted teams to start with I don't think can be ignored. Bruno Fernandez seems to have forgotten how to take a penalty. He's missed two in pre season but he is so ridiculously captainable in these first three fixtures. If you look at how he does against promoted teams, I've got it written down here. Against promoted teams in the last three seasons he's had 18 matches against promoted teams. In the last three seasons he's got 10 goals and eight assists against those promoted teams. He loves playing against promoted teams. So he is extremely captainable. In the first two, I mean game week two in particular I think he's the best captaincy choice. So he's in there. It's a non negotiable for me to have him. It's just whether I do have Mbumo in there with him. But I think with those first three fixtures with a wild car four in mind, I think that that's a perfectly reasonable thing to do. I've then got Enzo Le Fay in midfield, penalty taker for Sunderland obviously I'm a Sunderland fan apparently, so I've got him in there. First three fixtures are pretty nice and obviously I'm then wildcard in four when their fixtures do turn quite miserable. But penalty taker for Sunderland, I think he's a good shout. I like him a lot more than Grosch. Obviously he's 0.5 more than Grosch but Grosch obviously for Brighton. Does he play the first three games? I I think he definitely starts the first one against Villa at home but then with Europe and everything I think he misses one of those first three and with bench boost two in mind, I don't want to be thinking I now need to make a move and with Grosch being 5.5 it's really hard to get to another player that I want at 5.5 for that bench boost. So Lefe is definitely in for me and then the player I'm most excited about and I don't know how to feel about what he did in the community shield with the fact that he got two assists and he looked really good because I wanted him to maybe be less picked but now he's going to be picked by a few more people. He is such an output orientated player and I love that about him. In the last three seasons for two different clubs, he's got 67 goals, 67 goals and 51 assists in the last three years and he's in pre season. He's been fantastic. He's been getting assists left, right and center. Got two assists against Manchester City which I know man City were a bit off it but that's still pretty impressive. And they weren't from set pieces either, which I liked as well. So solace is in for Arsenal. Like I said, I'm really excited to own him. I think he could be fantastic that first game against Coventry. Yes, the next couple of games aren't the best. You would say they could be a little bit better. He's obviously got Aston Villa away and then he's got Chelsea at home, but I fancy him to get some returns in. Martinelli wasn't even on the bench in the community shield. They're basically telling him you need to find another club with obviously Sakura Madaweki on the other side. I think it's really only Eze that's going to be competing against him and I think Solace has got it locked down for at least the first few. And if he starts well, I think he could be the player that not only in FPL price wise but in real life price wise. I think everybody's going to be saying how was he so cheap? So yeah, he's the player I'm really excited about owning. Up Top. It's pretty template apart from my third striker. So I've got Harland up top. There's a lot of chatter about whether we should go with Haaland. The biggest argument I can have with starting with Haaland is number one. He started in the Community Shield, which a lot of people that were going harlandless were saying.

Is he going to be playing in the Community Shield? If he isn't, are you really going to be spending 15.5 million on a player you're not sure is going to start in that game? I personally, the biggest thing I've got is that I think he's going to start game week one. Obviously we saw that in the Community Shield. He got taken off in the 53rd minute, but I think that was planned and obviously with them basically looking at the game and thinking we probably lost this game anyway, I think that's a sub that kind of made sense. I think he starts in game week one, but the biggest thing is if I don't start with him and I spread those funds out and I do, I will say this, I do have a draft just in case we're worried about him starting. I do have a draft without him just in case we're worried about him starting. But I just look at it and think if he punishes you and he gets Two goals in the first game, you can't get back to him. Obviously, I'm thinking about wildcard in game week four, which means I've got three weeks. But he's, he's had years where he started and scored seven goals in the first three weeks. I, I cannot get back to him 15.5 million if I have ESAC instead, I need to free up 6.5 million that I've spread around the rest of my team. I'm not getting back to him. So that is the biggest thing, is how much can he punish you if he does well and how easy is it to get back to him? And it's not. You're basically going, right, if I don't start with him, I won't be bringing him back in until game week three or game week four, depending on when you want a wild card. If you start without him, I think you probably push the wild card availability forward to game week three and saying, that's only two weeks, I've got to go without him there. But I think it's the, his ability to, to punish you. He's got Bournemouth at home first off and he hasn't historically boomed against Bournemouth, so that maybe isn't the best one there. But then he's got Crystal palace away and then the biggest thing is in game week three, he's got Coventry at home, which if you don't have him, you're gonna want him for that. You're gonna be hiding behind your sofa. Because in game week three, Coventry at home I think is the best captaincy choice you've got in game week three. So, yeah, I'm going to be starting with Harland unless we hear something to say that he's not, you know, he's struggling for minutes in, in game week one, but I don't really see that happening. So, yeah, he's, he's still in my team at the moment. I think if you don't have Harland, you 100 have to have Semenya. I think Semenya is then absolutely locked in your team because when Harlan doesn't play, Semanu does incredibly well. If you're thinking Harlan's going to miss some minutes. Semenya had a great pre season as well. So I do think if you don't have Holland, you've got to have some menu. But good luck if, if Harlan starts well and you've got to try and get back to him, good luck. I've got Pedro up top as well. I've had Pedro, I think, from the start I don't think I've. He's left my, my pre season team. He's had an unbelievable pre season, done incredibly well, scored an awful lot of goals. He looks integral to this Chelsea team. They don't really have another striker. Dalap is, is looking like he's going or they're trying to get rid of him for 40 odd million and Pedro's just going to be that main man up top. They've only got one game a week until obviously, you know, League cup and FA cup starts but not any Europe. And we saw what that did to Manchester United last year. I think he's just an absolute lock at 7.5 million. He was one of the only strikers that did really well last year considering what a dead position it was. I, I'm, I think he's just an absolute lock in the team to be perfectly honest. And people that aren't starting with him, I mean the fixtures, the fixtures are a little bit hit and miss to start. The first two are pretty good with Fulham away in Brighton at home, definitely goals in both of those. Especially with how you know Fulham are looking pre season and then they've got Arsenal away in game week three which isn't the best but you know he's still playable in that game. But at 7.5 million you could bench my guess. But I think he's, he's a lock to start the season with. For me then I've got Brobie up top now. This is the biggest difference with the most teams, most people have Harlan, Pedro and Calvert Lewin. I don't have Calvin Lewin. I've got Brobie at the moment. I owned him for parts during the World cup and he did incredibly well. He scored an absolute Robbie esque goal in pre season where he just bounced off everybody and tapped it into the goal. I think he's a really good shout to start the season. The big thing with him is he doesn't have penalties. Calvert Lewin does. I just don't like Calvert Lewin as an option to be perfectly honest. And I know that could come back to haunt me because he had a great part of the season last season. But before that was he good? Were people that, you know, people hated him? People ridiculed us for having Calvert Lewin and I kind of feel like I'm in that boat at the moment. I feel like Brobby could be a really good shout to start the season with promoted teams to start with. I love him for game week two. Obviously where I'm going to be bench boosting and I just feel like he is a nice differential to start the season with and when I look at his ownership, what is he owned by at the moment? He's like he's 15 owned my God. I mean Calvert, Lewin I'm pretty sure is more than that but I just feel like Brobi's a good shout to start the season at 6 million. When I wild card in game week four I won't have a third striker. That third striker will be 4.5 million I would have thought But I feel like Brobi's a good shout to start the season with. And then on my bench I've got Sangare for Brentford. I feel like he's going to be a defcon beast this season. He didn't really show that in in pre season but he did get a goal. The goal was fortuitous I would say. Obviously he had a shot from outside the box and the keeper kind of fumbled it really and then he scored But I think he's a. He's a nice little def con lad to have in the middle there. I think you've always got to have at least one def con guy in the middle. Last season I had Anderson for most of the season who obviously did me incredibly well. I don't think Sangari is going to be the same but with the fixtures he's got I think he could be quite good for defcon. Spurs at home leads away and then in gameweek three he's got Sunderland at home. I fancy the fact that I could play him in in most those fixtures if I need to but I like the fact in gameweek 2 he's got leads away I think that could be a good one for defcon for him and obviously I'll be bench boosting so I'll need him. I don't think I'll probably need to play him in the first three game weeks apart from in the bench boost and I like his bench boost fixture obviously. Could he be Pascal Grosch again? Again the issue is I think Sangar is going to play all those three games Grosch when I need him in game week two will he play? I'm not sure so that's why I don't have Grosch in that role Then I've got somebody I am quite excited about which is Andy Robertson. I don't think I've been excited about him at least 5 years ago maybe when it was coupling him up with Trent Alexander Arnold for Liverpool a doggy's injured a dog he didn't play any of pre season. Looks like he could be out for a little while. Obviously I'm only thinking about three game weeks. Jed Spence has just gone so he's gone to Inter Milan as well. I think Robertson's going to have that left back slot nailed at least to start the season. He's been on some corners in pre season as well. Got an assist in his last preseason game and I think he could be a really Good shout at 4.5 million. I like spurs as fixtures. I've already spoken about Kinks game whiskey. I won't really be playing both of them in the same weeks apart from in bench boost and with bench boost. All I'm really thinking about there is I'm hoping Coventry and spurs both keep a clean sheet and I'm laughing. There's. There's every chance they don't but at least Robertson's going to be on corners as well and fingers crossed I get something out of them in in the bench boost. I think Robertson's a really good shout. I think Van Hecker is an incredible shout as well but obviously he's 0.5 more. I needed that 0.5. It could be that Ballard turns into Hume and Robertson turns into Van Hecker, but I think I prefer having Ballard and Robertson over Van Hecker and Hume. But maybe you think otherwise, let me know in the comments. I think it's two good options there. There's loads of 50 50s in this team and then my last player on my bench is Thomas. So Thomas For Coventry he's 4 million. He is pretty good for Defcon. I've only got him in there so he plays in game week two. You can see that because his other two fixtures are not so nice to start the season with Arsenal. But I'm looking at that GameWeek 2 fixture again, coupling them up with Rushworth and just hoping that that game against Hull is nil. Nil or that Coventry give a clean sheet if they don't. It was a shot I've taken. You could easily get nothing on your bench boost with, you know, Arsenal players, Chelsea players, Man United players. I'm just going with it with, with Coventry. The worst thing that happens is what my bench gets two points each, eight points in a single game week and I move on from there. But it could be absolutely brilliant. I end up getting a few more points. Than that. If Thomas and Rushworth both keep a clean sheet then I'm pretty happy with my bench boost in terms of what could change as the as the days go on. Ready for Friday because obviously that's when Deadline is. There's not an awful lot in here that I think would probably change. The biggest thing would be whether I I don't want to go for bench boost 2 anymore and I go for bench boost 1 and then you'll probably see a bit more Brighton in here, but the majority of it will probably stay pretty much the same. I probably won't have double Coventry. I'd probably change Thomas to Diop if I was doing that. But I think majority of this is pretty locked in now. I really like the fact I've got Solace in there. I don't have Njai. He's a big one that I've had in there quite a lot and obviously he's a pentaker, but I just, I like the excitement of going with Solace so I think I probably will be going with him still. Harlan, Pedro, Brobbie if we've got any indication that Harland won't be reliable for the first three game weeks, maybe I take him out. But again getting back to him is an absolute nightmare. So I think the majority of this is pretty locked now. Let me know in the comments what you think about this bench boost 2 obviously a little bit different. Don't just chuck in. This is awful. Let me know what you think is awful about it and try and be specific. But I'm pretty happy with the makeup of this team. I would be very, very surprised if a lot of this changes before Friday. I will be locking in Friday morning and then I will not be changing it unless we hear some kind of a leak. But I'm pretty happy with it. Let me know maybe out of 10 what you think it is and I'll be seeing you again for Black Box on Thursday. Thank you all. Bye bye.
