I used to play team sports and shared a locker room with a whole lot of women, plus 14 roommates in one college house. I still text, call or see so many of those women regularly. We talk about everything, even breast cancer, which has affected several of my friends. Breast cancer has impacted all our lives in one way or another, so we know talking about it is important to share, understanding and to keep everyone updated. If you or someone you know was previously diagnosed with HR positive HER2 negative early breast cancer and went through treatment, you might be surprised to learn that it could come back. That's why I want to tell you about a breast cancer treatment called Kiskali. Kiskali ribociclib 200mg tablets are taken with an aromatase inhibitor. It's for adults with HR positive HER2 negative stage 2 or 3 early breast cancer with a high risk of recurrence and it can help reduce the risk of cancer coming back. In a clinical study at three years, 91% of people taking Kiskali plus an aromatase inhibitor were cancer free versus 88% taking an aromatase inhibitor alone. Individual results may vary. Kiskali may cause serious skin reactions, liver problems and low white blood cell counts that may result in serious infections. Life threatening lung problems and abnormal heartbeats can occur. Your doctor should test your heart and blood before and during treatment. Tell your doctor if you have new or worsening cough, chest pain or dizziness before taking Kiskali. Tell your doctor all your medical conditions, medicines you take and if you're breastfeed, pregnant or planning to be as it can harm an unborn baby. Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Hey everyone. Welcome back to another episode of Fud around and find out. I'm here with my girl Ashanti. Hey.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Hey, what's up?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Look at you. What's up from Dallas. Wings up. Wings big.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Wings up. I see you in the Dallas merch already, girl. I'm so excited for you. This is really like your big girl job.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
It is in fact my big girl job. I'm in the wow.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Oh, I'm in the W. Well that's exciting. I'm excited for you. Okay, so we were literally together a week ago and so much has changed since then and it's actually crazy that it's. Exactly. It's only been one week and we have so much to talk about. But before we get into that, let's talk about why it's giving pixelated over there.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Rude.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I'm just saying.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Oh good. Wi fi I thought. I'm currently in my new apartment in Dallas. Hashtag wingsup and I don't have any of my stuff. All I have is the stuff from the draft. So that would be a Jordan suitcase and the suitcase I packed which was like four purses, two pairs of heels, my toiletries, the clothes I was wearing, and my passport.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
So essentials I'm wearing.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
All I have is wings, merch and Jordan merch.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Your essentials.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Okay, so no camera, no microphone, no lights.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Oh, you're really just stripping it down
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
to the basics in the pod today.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
It's okay. Girls still looking great from there And I'm excited to talk about everything that's happened in this past week, so.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Me too.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I don't even know where to start. I saw you the day after the draft. That's Tuesday. What did your Wednesday look like?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Wednesday, I woke up at the crack of dawn. We went to good morning. The booty crack. The booty crack of dawn. Like, honestly, that whole week of wake up was. That was so rough. So we woke up super early, went to gma, which is amazing, as always. Got my hair and makeup done, had a cute little outfit on, got straight hair, gives. Thank you. Thank you. Got to talk to Michael Strahan, who is awesome. And then went right from there. We stopped at my agent's house so I could, you know, quick pee break, had to change. But then we went right to the airport, got on a flight to Dallas, came here. It was a. Jose is actually, first of all, Jose left his ID before
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
getting on a flight. That's like the essential check.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Jose. So he almost didn't make the flight. He, like, came running up to the gate as soon as it was like, last call.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Wow.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
But it was his first first class flight. And I was sitting next to him and he was like, these are big chairs and they started bringing food out and like, you get little, like the little, like nuts before you get the rest of your food. He was like warm nuts before. He was geeking out everything. And then he got food and he was like, this is so nice. I've never flown first class before. So that was really cute. And then we got to the hotel. Yeah. Oh. Then we got to the hotel.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I was gonna say, girl, come on.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
This episode is gonna be me rambling the whole time about how incredible everything's been. And it was a big sign that said AZ has arrived with a bunch of balloons. And it was really cute. And everyone was there to welcome us. We took some pictures, had some hugs, said hi, and then we had dinner that night, which was like one of the best steaks I've had in a long time.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Is this Thursday? So Wednesday?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
No, this is still Wednesday. No, this is still Wednesday.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Oh, excuse me. This is still Wednesday.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
This is still Wednesday. Wow. Okay.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Had the best day of your life. That's Wednesday night.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
This is Wednesday night? Yes.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Tell me Thursday morning.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Okay, Thursday morning. Oh, Thursday morning. I had media. I had to do hair and makeup again.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Yo.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I'm not even complain the whole time.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I can imagine. I remember you left. You were like, this is the last time getting my makeup done. That's it. I'm not doing this no more. And then I saw you Thursday at the press conference. I said, my girl is good. What's going on?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
My face needs a break. No more. I say no more makeup. I have more media tomorrow. I'll be wearing makeup. Anyways, we had the press conference, which was. I. My gosh, I was so nervous for it. I was, like, so grumpy, so crabby in the mornings. I didn't want to go. Not didn't want to go, but I was just dreading it. Like, this is gonna be so hard. Like, I don't know anyone. I don't know anything. And then we get there and some of the girls were there, some of the team was there, all the staff. Everyone had, like, a touch of pink on whether it was like a tie, a pole, like, just a little bit of pink. And then there was like, everyone had tiaras. There was a pink carpet. It was just super, super sweet. And the fact that a lot of it was like five, at least five. Six of the girls came. Wow, that's love. And, like, exactly. I know they're busy. They're working out, moving in, doing all their physicals and stuff. So it was just a super, super warm welcome. I felt very loved, and it was amazing.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
It looked amazing. I saw some. Well, I watched your press conference, and then I saw at the end when you thanked everyone for coming. And I was just like, I was amazed, but also, I'm like, like, you know, obviously, as they should have my girl, but not talking about the team showing up, but just everybody, you know, you being the number one draft pick. I'm just proud of them.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
But, yeah, but, like, they don't have to do that. They don't have to do that.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
They don't.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I am very grateful for it.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
And it looked amazing, and I was happy to see it, especially with the pink and the Sierra's girl. Come on.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
It was very personalized. Yeah. Just super intentional.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
So I'm hearing from you that your. Your first impression was you were mind blown. It was amazing. Great connections. What was it like meeting, like, your official teammates, getting to meet them, the coaches, outside of this press conference then?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I didn't, like, it was like more like a high and then like that awkward, you know, like, you know, a couple of them. You've watched a couple of them, and so you're just kind of like sitting there like, hi, how are you? I'm good. Happy you're here. Like, yeah, me too. You're just sitting there. So now that we're. A few more days into it. It's been a lot of fun getting to know and actually having real conversations and interactions.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Who are some of the favorite people you got to connect with?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Honestly, everyone. Like, honestly, everyone. I. I get so. I love meeting new people, but I get so nervous meeting new people, because you just. You never know. Yeah, but I've been so, like, pleasantly surprised with how, like, everyone's personality is incredible, like, on and off the court. So I wasn't sure. Like, am I gonna get bullied? Like, I'm a rookie, you know? And again, that's crazy to think about this. My third day out.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
It's our third day out. That is really crazy to think about. Like, you know, you spent so much time at UConn. Five years, you was the big dog, and now you're kind of, like, starting over. It's almost like when you transition from school to the next school. Like, you graduated, you did your thing at UConn, you. And now you're the baby again, having to, like, figure out dynamics in this next part of your life.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yeah. So I worked out on Saturday. Training camp started Sunday. I worked out Saturday, and it was four of us. It was me, two other rookies, and Alicia Clark. And I'm like, I'm so excited to get on the court. Like, I'm a little nervous. Like, I haven't really. I met the coaches, but I haven't been on court with them. Like, I don't know what to expect. I watched Alicia Clark play, but I've never. Like, she was there that. This. Whatever week in the draft was. I don't even know if that was last weekend. Whatever. Like, I've watched her play. She was there, so I got to say hi to her. But I'm about to work out with them.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Yes.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
For that. And I do. Like, I start. I usually start an hour before my workout whenever I go on court, doing, like, my foot stuff, my soft tissue to warm myself up, and she was in there, too, doing her foot stuff and ankle stuff and soft tissue, whatever. And so I got to chat with her, and it was really cool just to hear, like, all the similarities, and then to get to talk to her, and I don't know. She's awesome. So, like, just getting. I don't know, Like, I'm so excited. I'm so happy. But getting to hear from her, she's someone I've watched play for a while, so getting to. I don't know. I just. I. I'm, like, literally rambling out of.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
No, it's okay. Listen, this is, like, the ideal situation. Right. You get there, you've watched someone play, you know, you admire someone, that you are their teammate. Like, that's.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yeah, I'm fangirling. I go from like fangirling to teammate. That's crazy.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
No, for real, that's awesome. Have you had the chance to check in with any of your other UConn graduates who are now, you know, positioned to play in the W2?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yeah, we've been texting. We below our little group chat. We've been texting. They seem to be doing pretty well too. Caroline. I have been playing phone tag, so hopefully after this pod, I'll be able to actually call her and talk to her. But Sarah said that things have been going well, so I'm really happy for everyone.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
No, yeah, I'm excited. I want to know more about Dallas. Like, did you get your Tex Mex? What's been some of the good things about it? Is it warm? Like, what. What's going on out there?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
It's actually like been rainy and gray. Yeah, I guess I brought the Connecticut weather with me, but hopefully that clears up. But training camp has been tiring, so as soon as I get home, I'm in the bed, I'm out. Like, I roll out, do some more treatment. Not treatment, but do some more recovery stuff like Norma Tech, whatever, boots on, eat some food. And I'm wake up. I'm waking up at 7, so I'm like, got no KK and Kelis here. So I'm in bed like 10:30.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
But you didn't get a chance to try any Tex Mex or anything yet. What have you been eating?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
My dad cooked the other day and so he made fire naturally. They don't know how to make for a small group of people, so they make extras every time. So I've had some leftover salmon, he made a bunch of Mac and cheese and I'm leftover queen, so
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
that's good. I'm glad you're getting a home cooked meal while you can.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yeah, seriously. They left Sunday morning and it was like, wow, I'm really like here by myself. I'm all alone in this new apartment, guys. This is my new apartment, by the way. I don't know if I said that
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
you will give us a tour or not. Next time.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Next time. Because if I move my computer then Grace is going to yell at me
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
and Grace is our producer then.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yeah, so next time.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay. I'm looking forward to it.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I want to see like, have any of my stuff yet. So there's no pink that's why I can't show you yet.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay, okay, okay, okay. We'll wait. We'll patiently wait. But the people do want to know have you gotten any cottage cheese? This not me. I'm not asking about no cottage cheese. But the people want to know have you got any?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
You got two things of cottage cheese in the fridge.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Oh my goodness. I don't even know why that's a question. She stayed prepared.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Got my cottage cheese, my yogurt, my ice cream for bears. I've got the rest of like the goods are coming it but got the essentials to hold me over.

Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
What was it like, seeing your locker for the first time.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Like, is this real? Is this really my locker?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
That's crazy. Brand new locker after five years. You gotta put some pictures and pink stuff in it.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Seriously. I do. Even putting, like, the new practice loop on. And, like, seeing me in that green, I'm like, this is weird. This is weird. But I like it.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
It's different. I'm excited to see you playing it. More exciting things. You're back on the court with Paige. What's that like after not playing with her for about a year.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
It's been fun. We were actually on the same team yesterday. Well, and today actually for. I mean, they mix the teams up. But yesterday we were doing five on five stuff, like, live for the first time. And we ran this one play, and she gave me a perfect play. Could not have been executed more perfectly, like I think it was. Lee sent me set. Like, a perfect screen got me open page. A perfect pass over the defender's hands, like, right into my shot pocket. And I made it. And I'm like, I forgot how good of a pastor you are. And she's like, really? It hasn't been that long, but so super fun. But even, like, get. Obviously getting to play with her. But then, like, it's only day three, but, like, learning everyone else's playing styles and what they like to do, their tendencies, like where they like to roll or pop or where they want to catch the ball, that's been really fun.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
It looks like a lot of fun. Let me tell you something. Your admins are putting in work. I feel like I'm in practice with y'.
Sponsor/Announcer
All.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay. I saw a perfect pass. You shot it from the top of. Top of the key. I was like, let's get it. But it's cool, like, to get us. I'm not in Dallas, so I love to be able to see, you know, what's going on in practice. But, yeah, speaking of you shooting it at the top of the key, your coach came out and was like. He said he had to tell you to. To shoot more. How did that even happen? Did you hesitate or something? What was going on?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
It wasn't even anything. I was just. I was trying to, you know, share the love. I remember no more comments since I shot the ball, period.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I'm excited for that. So other than, you know, you've been played with Paige, who are. And you said you've been learning other teammates, like, tendencies. Who else have you been building chemistry with?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Training camp has been really good. It's been really hard. My body is super sore. But it's been so much fun. I mean, just the newness, intensity, getting to compete with everyone, getting to learn how to play with everyone, learn from everyone from the coaching staff. Like, learn the new plays, the new styles of play. Everything has been. It's been a lot. Like, I don't think. I don't. It's just been so. There's like, so many different areas, like, physically on the court, but then, like, mentally. There's just so many components to it. But it's been so much fun. Like, I've been in the same environment for five years at UConn, so not that you get. Complacent isn't the right word, but it's just like, you learn the offense and you. We add stuff and. But it's like, okay, you get it your first year and it clicks. And then the next four years, like, I'm running the same stuff, and I know what coaches expect and I know how to play with the same core and KK and Sarah and Ash and all them where now everything is brand new now. So it's been a lot of fun. Just. I mean, it's only been three days, but it has been so much fun to be on the court with everyone and just learn. I like playing with everyone and I like, you know, building chemistry with everyone. But people who have been really helpful so far in cam because it's a lot of learning, like Alicia Clark, Amy, Alana. But they're super vocal and super helpful and just, like, constantly talking and helping. Like, they can see my thinking face. And they're like, okay, go here. Okay, do this. And on the side, they're like, all right, when you go there, make sure you do this and make sure you do that. And this is open here. And it's just super helpful to constantly be told because it's a lot of moving pieces. It's a lot to someone who's new. Like, the pace, the physicality, all of that is still new. Still figuring that out. So having them is very helpful.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I love that. I mean, girl, you don't have a lot of time. You blink and your first game's gonna be around the corner.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
That's crazy.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
That is crazy. Like, you just finished playing. Ugh, Nuts. So I see you've been rocking the low curly pony.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Is this.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Is this gonna be the style you rock when it's game day?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I don't know. It's probably gonna be a game time decision.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay, no more. No more braids by Jenna.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
No more braids by Jenna. Jenna, if you're listening to this? Oof. I already miss you.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Do you know how to braid your hair?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Nope. All right.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Somebody know how to do that?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Don't know how to do much with my hair. What?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay, random sidebar, because people do ask this a lot. What do you use to wash your hair?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Whatever's in my shower.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I'm crying. I'm crying dead. All right.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I can't.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
So, okay, not really a full pivot, but who have you been hanging out with outside of camp? And I know you said your bed, you sleep, have to practice a lot, but outside of that.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Guys, been three days. I don't have any friends yet.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Soon come. I feel like, give it like a month. You'll come back and be like, yeah, my bestie or not.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I hope I am going to dinner with someone today, and then I do have possible dinner plans tomorrow with other people. So, like, hopefully they like me and want to hang out with me again.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
They will. I'm excited for you new community.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
And if they don't, you know what? That's okay. Like, everyone has their own taste, you know? And if they don't, like, yeah, that's okay. I'll accept that. We can just be friends on the court. I know. I am really excited for dinner tonight, and I'm excited for dinner tomorrow because tomorrow supposed to be Korean barbecue.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Interesting.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Sounds good.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Well, barbecue.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Never had Korean barbecue.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I have.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Not so good. Like, the make it yourself. Like, right in front of you and you, like, it's usually like, all. You can eat somebody out.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I mean, now I know.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Listen, there's some good places in New York too.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I believe it. I'll think about trying it. I'll think about it.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
It's not even like, like a picky. It's a picky year's dream. Like, it's literally. You could just eat meat. You could just eat, like, get rice and meat. I don't eat meat. Oh, I forgot.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
All right, they got fish.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
They do have fish.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay, then maybe I'll try it with some fish. So I saw on socials, AC Was saying that she hears her name in practice, but you two. I guess it sounds similar. Like, tell me about that.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yeah. So like I said, we had a workout the day before training camp together, and we were the only two guards. The other two people were bigs. And so they would be like, okay, A.C. you start here. And then they'd call me Az. So A.C. and Az sound very similar, especially when they're talking fast. It's winning drills like, okay, A.C. over here. A.C. over here. And I'm like, where? Where am I going? Who's going where? And there were so many times where I would just like, stop. I would just glitch. They'd be like, easy up there. And I'd be fully thinking they're saying ac. So I just stand there. They're like, easy. I'm like, oh, me. Okay, so now everyone's playing me fud, which is kind of weird, but I like it.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Wait, they don't. They didn't call you FUD in college,
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Only some people did. Like the black people called me fud, and now I am. Everyone's calling me fud.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I'm dead. I'm so dead. Not only the black people is calling you fud. Welp, it's an inclusive name now.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Seriously, the more the merrier.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay, so I have never witnessed, and I'm sure many people haven't, what a WNBA practice looks like. Now, obviously you don't have to break down every single thing, but I do want to know, do you guys like, start with skills and drills? Are you hop right into plays? Are you playing full court the whole time? Like, what does practice look like?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I mean, okay, so we start at 10, but we start like our pre practice stuff at 9. And then the first day we didn't finish, I finished my lift at 2.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay, so not crazy, right? 9 to 2, not crazy.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
9, 10, 11, 12. One too.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
But wasn't college like 3 to 4 hours?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yeah, but like, this is in college. So I was thinking, you know, everyone's like, the pros is different. Everyone comes back and they're like, oh, I forgot what it was like to be in a college practice. Like, I can't believe you guys do that. Mind you, we did basically the same stuff we did in college practice. Going from up and down, doing drills to break down to then live to then full court. I'm like, it just feels like college, but with bigger, stronger, smarter people.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
So you were prepared.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yeah, but I haven't played in a couple weeks, so like my body is screaming, crying, throwing up right now.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Well, one thing I know about you, you don't play about your recovery. So how's that been at the next level?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Amazing. The strength staff and the athletic training staff, incredible. I mean, first of all, there's like at least four of them in that training room. So it's just like everyone's getting treatment. There's like, what, what can you. What do you need? What can I do for you? What can I help you with? And it's, it's amazing. I'm. I've been the last one to leave every day because I'm like, I'm. Take full advantage of this. They're going to be sick of me.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
They're not sick of you.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Not yet, but they will be.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Hey, listen, I was gonna say, as long as it keeps you right for the court. Yeah, y' all definitely gonna be locked in. They're gonna love it.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
So that has been great. That's good.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I know you don't want to talk about your fits, but we did hint in the last episode about a certain package from the Jordan Brand gang, if you want to get into it.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I forget. Can you tell me?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Are you kidding? Ace, this is Beastie. Like, shout out to Jordan Brand because I was super excited to be able to receive two of these bad boys, but my goodness, the packaging is huge.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Beastie is a good word for it, would you say? I said BC is a good word for literally is.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
All right, so y' all can see this is the gold medal. I have not been in the weight room like Az, so I'm shaking right now. And inside this gold medal. Az, do you know what's in here?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yes. Unboxing. Live. Unboxing. Live.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Unboxing. Come to you live around pot. Whoa. This is so cool.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Oh, my gosh.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Do you want to speak to these? These shoes.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
The shoes are fire. That's their. I think it's their Air series. So it's like the women's one. So there's a hair tie on the back, which I think is the coolest thing, Right? Am I tripping, or is it hair tie?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
No, no, it does. It has a hair tie on the back. Air series two. And you know what they put in the packaging? Two freaking gold medals. It'd be crazy if I start walking around like, these are actually, like, mine now.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
You have to tell them. What? There's a quote on it.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
There is. So this is from Maya Moore and Nafisa Collier, our girl. And this one is Nafisa Collier's. And it says, greatness starts within. Never stop believing.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Amen.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Inspirational. And this one says, prepare like a champion. Be in each moment. Be a great teammate. The rest will take care of itself. I'm motivated. I'm inspired.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I'm so inspired. Forget the off day. We're going to the gym tomorrow.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Girl, I would love to. You know, we should really record a workout one day. I would love for you to try to lead me through a workout. Don't do that. I'm not that bad.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Okay, let's do it.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Not too much on me. I've been in the gym for the last week. Okay. Period.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Summer body coming. Coming soon.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Oh, God.
Sponsor/Announcer
All right.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
That was just one.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
And this is the second one. Silver. Silver medal.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Oh.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Shaking in my boots, child.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Ah.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
And in this one, there's two shoes. Two pairs of shoes. Bow, these are so fire. They got a lifestyle one and a basketball one. Tell us about these.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Let's see. Pull them out.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I will. I'm gonna pull out the basketball ones first. Oh, my gosh. Fuego.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
They are. Those are.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Thank y' all so much. I believe these are the maya pes. Yes. 4,028. Come on.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
This is fire.
Sponsor/Advertiser Voice (e.g., Gatorade or Vital Farms representative)
This right here.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Come on now. Thank you. And then this one for the casual wear. The 60 plus low. They hooked you up, girl. They hooked us up.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Can't go wrong with some white shoes. White and black. I wish I'd packed mine.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I'm sorry. Girl, you really living out of a
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
suitcase left in the U Haul?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Yeah, it's all right. U Haul come soon. When are they supposed to pull up on you?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I don't. They're doing a whole world tour, so I don't even know what.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
What do you mean, world tour? They making stops.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I guess they have. They started in Connecticut and they went home so they could unpack some of the stuff I didn't want. And then I had a couple things at home that I did want. Then they're driving from D.C. to Florida because my uncle's getting married, so going to the wedding. And then Jose is flying from Florida to Phoenix to pack up and drive home with his girlfriend from college. But he's gonna stop in Texas on the way. And my mom and grandma. Maybe grandma. Definitely my mom, are driving from Florida to Texas, and they should get here at the same time. So they're gonna help me unpack, they're gonna help me move in, and then. Yeah. Yeah, it's giving.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
You're gonna be living out of the suitcase for a couple days.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
For a minute. For a few days. Yeah.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
It's all right. That Dallas merge. Wings up. They gonna hold you down. They gonna hold you down. Or, you know, you can go shopping.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I don't like spending money.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I know you say this, but, like,
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
just a little bit, Especially on things that I already like. I have enough clothes. I don't need to go shopping to buy more. I can wait.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Fine.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
That's fine. I have to save my money for all the food I gotta eat.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I'm crying. Okay, that's fair.

Now it's time for our fun games. The first fun and game is Southern translation. You're going to try to guess what the Southern phrase means. You get a bonus point if you can use it in a sentence relating to your experience in Texas. All right.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Okay.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay. First one. Wait. I love this first one. Bless your heart.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Wait, I have to say what it means and then use it in a sentence.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
You get a bonus point if you use it in a sentence. But yes, say what it means.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Okay, Bless you. I feel like this can be used in different ways like but it's like, how do I define it? Okay, I can use it in a sentence, like. Like, oh, bless your heart. You're just a rookie. You're trying your best. Oh, it's like, it's okay, but it's also like a. It's like a nice way of saying, like. It can be like an it's okay, or like a, oh, bless your heart. Like, you're so sweet. Like, that kind of thing.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
So it can be genuine sympathy, right? Like, you're so sweet. Or like, I understand what you're going through. Or a polite insult.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Like, yeah, that's a better way of saying, yeah, a polite insult.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Next one. Fix into.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Fix into. Oh, like you're starting to like something. Kind of like. I don't know.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
It says, about to do something. Like you're. You're fixing to get up and work out.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Like, this is the south way of saying finna.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I feel like finna is Southern, too.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I mean, I've heard people say it down here, but is that, like, they're. I don't know.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I guess it is finna, too. Like, I'm gonna get up. I'm fixing to get up. Same thing.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Interesting. Next one.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
That dog won't hunt.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Huh?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Never heard this before. That dog won't hunt.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
You're useless. Yo.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
It means that idea won't work.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
What?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Girl, that was the first time I've seen it.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
That dog won't run.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
That idea won't work. All right, next one. Don't let the screen door hit you.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Oh, I've heard this. Well, I think. Is it not the same as, like, don't let the door hit you on your way out?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Yes. So what does it mean?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I don't really know what it means.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I've just heard it used to be it means goodbye and don't come back.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Okay. Yeah. I was gonna say, like, get out.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Yeah. Next one. He's all hat, no cattle.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Like, he's all talk.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Mm.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Mm.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
All hat, no cattle. I ain't never heard that one either. Next is like a chicken with his head cut off.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Clueless, like he doesn't know what he's doing.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Acting chaotic or frantic. Okay, this one kills me.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Ready?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Go see a man about a horse.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Go see a man about a horse.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Yup. Go see a man about a horse.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I don't get.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Means leaving without explaining where you're going. It kind of sounds like, you know, when you make up something like, oh, I just have some socks to fold. Or like, leaving without any explanation.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I don't get it.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Can you grace Said it's like, if you're going to the bathroom or to get a drink.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
So I'm saying, like, I would be like, oh, see you later. Like, I'm gonna see a man about a horse.
Sponsor/Announcer
Who.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Who says these things?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Who says these things?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Next one. You ready, ace?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I've. Yeah. I've never heard that.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Okay.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Full as a ticket, full as a tick. Ew, you're full.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Yes, very full after eating. So after you go to dinner, you could be like, I'm full of tick. If they from Texas, that probably shock them. Okay, I don't even know how to say this. Ready? Catty wampus. Cattywampus. Cattywampus.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I definitely need the. The definition and the. The sentence.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Sentence. Okay, so it means crooked, off balance, are not lined up.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Oh, I'm about to take this one, but I can't.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I mean, I guess.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
What would you use?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
That looks cattywampus. That's kind of cattympus.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
You look cattywampus.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Oh, that's rude. That hairline is cattywampus. All right, next one is acting ugly, Acting a fool, behaving badly or rudely. Like, ooh, you acting ugly. Stop it. All right, last one. I'm finer than frog hair.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
What? Do frogs even have hair?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
If they do, you can't see them. They're extra fine, which is I have a nervous.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Is that okay. So many questions here. I don't get this one either. Like, you're just saying you're fine, but
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
so it means I'm doing great. So someone's like, oh, how you doing? I'm fine and in frog hair.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Okay, I'm gonna use that one too.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I would love to see you use that one.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
That's it.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
That's a wrap on our southern translations.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
That was.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Are you. Would you say that was different?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
That was different. Yeah.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
I haven't heard half of those, but, hey, you learn something new every day. But now it is time to move on to our what the FUD of the week. For those who don't know, our what the FUD of the week is something that happened this week that made you say, what the fud? Ay, I'm sure you have plenty being out there in Texas.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I actually do have a really good what the fud. Should I go first? Yeah. My what the fud is our first night in Texas at dinner. Like, we just got there. It's a nice dinner. The staff is there. Like, it's the coach, GM's CEO. Like, all the Big guys. All the big dogs are there. And then me, my mom, my dad, Joseph, we're saying hi. We're hugging. Jose. My brother Jose. My brother Jose goes to coach Fernandez, and he's, like, chatting with everyone, saying hi. He goes up to him, and he's like, so, what do you do here? Like, what's your role? No, he's like, I'm the coach. And I'm so glad that I was not next to them, because just hearing that story, I have, like, no, Like, Jose.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
But you know what? If it was gonna be anybody, it doesn't shock me that it's Jose, though.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
No, no. But to go to the coach and say, what do you do here?
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
What do you do? I probably would have died on the spot.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
No, seriously, forgive him, Coach. I don't know him, actually. He just showed up, actually.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Security, get him out here. We just picked him up. We really don't even.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
He's been following me around. I seriously, get him out of here.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
Oh, my goodness. Jose, please. Oh, my gosh. What was. What was your coach's response?
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
I think he kind of just, like, looked around and was like, I'm the coach of the team.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
It's okay. It's okay. It's okay.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Actually, I need to ask him about that tomorrow. Or am I seeing tomorrow? If I see him tomorrow, I'm gonna ask him about that, because I cannot believe Jose did that.
Co-host (possibly a friend or colleague of Az Fudd)
No.
Az Fudd (WNBA player and main guest/host)
Yeah.

Podcast: Fudd Around And Find Out (iHeartPodcasts + Unanimous Media)
Date: April 24, 2026
Host: Azzi Fudd with co-host Ashanti
Special Context: Azzi’s first weeks as a Dallas Wings WNBA draft pick as she transitions from UConn to the pros.
This episode is all about big transitions: Azzi Fudd, fresh off a celebrated collegiate career at UConn, shares her first impressions and early adventures as a newly minted Dallas Wing in the WNBA. With her friend and co-host Ashanti, Azzi reflects on her whirlwind post-draft week, settling into Dallas, meeting new teammates, the grind of training camp, sneaker unboxings, adjusting to life in a new city—and even some Southern lingo. The tone is relaxed, humorous, and deeply personal, giving listeners an inside perspective on both the excitement and anxieties of starting a pro career.
(03:16 – 06:44)
Big News & Setting: Azzi opens from her (bare) new apartment in Dallas, joking about her WiFi (“It's giving pixelated over there”—Ashanti, 04:17), and explains she only has her draft suitcases and “essentials: four purses, two pairs of heels, my toiletries, the clothes I was wearing, and my passport.” (Azzi, 04:20-04:45)
First Days Recap: She details a hectic schedule post-draft:
Notable Quote:
"This episode is gonna be me rambling the whole time about how incredible everything's been." – Azzi Fudd (06:48)
(07:10 – 14:19)
Warm Welcome: The Wings go all out—pink carpet, tiaras, teammates and staff decked out with pink details for her press conference and arrival.
Meeting Teammates:
UConn Connections:
(13:02 – 14:53)
Life Logistics: Azzi’s sleep schedule is suddenly a lot less wild. “I’m in bed like 10:30. No KK and Kelis here.” (13:54)
Home Cooking & Essentials: Her dad cooked for her & whatever leftovers exist are her meals: “I’m leftover queen.” Cottage cheese, of course, is in stock (“You got two things of cottage cheese in the fridge.” – Ashanti, 15:09).
Loneliness: Her family leaves and she’s struck by “wow, I’m really like here by myself. I’m all alone in this new apartment” (14:22-14:37).
(19:29 – 21:49)
First Look: Seeing her Dallas locker for the first time:
Reuniting with Paige Bueckers: Learning team tendencies, “first time live five-on-five,” and nostalgia for UConn: “She gave me a perfect pass... and I made it. And I’m like, I forgot how good of a passer you are. She’s like, really? It hasn’t been that long.” (20:08 – 21:00)
(22:01 – 25:37)
Camp Intensity:
Comparison to College:
Chemistry & Connections: She’s still building relationships (“Guys, been three days. I don’t have any friends yet.” 25:04), but is looking forward to dinners and new community.
(30:01 – 34:42)
(39:20 – 44:57)
(45:06 – 47:32)
Azzi’s Family Gaffe: At welcome dinner, her brother Jose meets Coach Fernandez and says: “So, what do you do here?”
Host’s “What the FUD”: Getting their “precious metal” Jordan pack in the mail.
“I’m fangirling. I go from like fangirling to teammate. That’s crazy.”
– Azzi, on meeting Alicia Clark (12:27)
“My body is screaming, crying, throwing up right now.”
– Azzi on WNBA training camp physicality (29:04)
“Who says these things?”
– Azzi, repeatedly baffled by Southern idioms (43:05)
