Welcome back to a very special bonus episode of Fun around and find out. We have a super special guest today, one that a lot of you have been begging to get on the pod. Today we have the Geico Gecko joining us. I've gotten to know the Gecko a little bit, so I'm super excited for all of our listeners to get to know you as well. Gekko, welcome.
A
Hey, Az, how are you? Hi, Ashanti. Can you guys hear me? Is this mic on? Yeah, Is this. And can you see me? Because sometimes I'm a little bit low in frame in these things, but we record.
B
You look great.
A
All right, Lovely. All right, off we go.
C
You and Az have known each other for a little bit. How did this all start?
A
I'm a massive fan of basketball, always have been. I've been following AZ for quite a while. And then Geico announced a partnership with you, az, which I was, like, really super excited about.
B
Me too.
A
Yeah, we got to hang out on the set. Then we had a GEICO commercial team behind you, which was great fun. And then we got into the tournament and listen, Az, I've watched every game, and here we are on the podcast. So, yeah, listen, I'm super. I'm super happy to be here.
B
You're famous, like you really are. But I want to dig in a little more to know who the real Gecko is. So I think we should start with some basics.
C
Yeah.
B
What's your actual name? We're calling you Mr. Gecko. What's your real name?
A
Yeah, no, you ain't got to call me Mr. Gecko. Probably the Gecko or Gecko.
B
So when you're out on the street, do you get recognized a lot?
A
It took me a little bit of time to get used to, if I'm honest. Like, so many people come up to me with their phones out, and they're asking me, how much can I save? Can I use the phone to get a quote? And I'm like, yeah, yeah, it's easy peasy. I love helping people. Tip is always make them take the selfie. In fact, I have to because I've got really short arms.
C
What's your favorite hobby?
A
Wow, that's a tough one. I'm so busy all the time. Like, you know, it's full of, pardon me, but you could save this or, you know, you get great service that, you know, there's not a lot of extra time for tinkling the ivories or, you know, pickleball or whatever.
C
What kind of music are you into?
A
I always used to want to Play a jazz saxophone, but my arms wouldn't reach. So I've got to stick to the old DJing. What sort of music do you like?
C
I love R and B.
B
Me too. I like all music, but I would love to hear you DJ one day. Maybe next time.
A
Yeah, you'll have to come down.
B
Can't wait.
C
I'm definitely coming.
B
So if you had your own podcast, what would it be called and what would it be about?
A
Wow. My own podcast. Right. Well, I am rather qualified to talk about one thing. So it could be called at your service or claims to fame or my brain. My brain's going a mile a minute. Let's just see how this one goes first.
B
Curious to know what your favorite food is?
A
My favorite food probably shrimp in a creamy pesto sauce.
B
Ooh.
A
Over angel hair. Beautiful.
C
If you had a pet, what basketball player would you name them after?
A
Sadly, Ashanti. I'm allergic to pets. Yeah, it gives me the sneezes.
B
To all pets.
C
I was gonna say get you a hypoallergenic one.
B
Gekka. What's your star sign?
A
Virgo. Maybe that's why I'm such a perfectionist. I don't know. Let me guess yours. Az. Can I. Can I try and guess yours?
B
Yeah, please.
A
Right. So you're intensely passionate, aren't you, about basketball? Mm, sounds like Scorpio.
B
I am a Scorpio.
A
You're not a Scorpio, are you?
B
Really?
C
Yes.
B
Wow.
C
You're good. That looks too good.
B
I'm impressed.
C
Okay, so what's a fun fact about you that most people don't know about?
A
I've never had lasagne.
B
Interesting.
A
I haven't said it. Yeah. I've never said that in public before, but yeah.
B
Is there a reason?
A
No, I'm open to it. It's just never come up.
B
What are other projects that you're working on right now?
A
Well, I'm always on the telly in various GEICO commercials. You can follow me on social media. You can, like, comment, subscribe. You can hashtag, do people still hashtag, I'm not sure. Yes.
B
They still hashtag, I like the hashtag. Yeah.
A
Can I ask you a couple of questions?
B
Of course, definitely.
A
I need some fashion tips.
C
I would love to see you with some hair.
B
Hair's crazy.
A
Well, that's not gonna happen. Shanty.
B
Maybe some pink.
C
Hey, like, get you a little pink wig.
A
Do you guys wanna play a little game?
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
It's called overrated. Underrated. Driving on the right side of the road.
B
Is this a trick question?
A
I think it's overrated.
C
I'm a passenger, princess, so I'm gonna say underrated.
B
I'm gonna say underrated because I think I would be so confused on the left side of the road.
A
Granny shots.
C
Underrated.
B
I'll go underrated.
A
Yeah. I feel like they're underrated. Fish and chips.
C
Underrated. It's so good.
B
I would also say underrated. There's some bad ones that are overrated, but a good fish and chips. Good fish and chips is delicious.
A
I'm so glad you said that, Az. I thought we're gonna have our first little falling out there. Oversized hoodies.
B
Underrated.
C
Underrated. Love them.
A
Yeah, well, all hoodies are oversized as far as I'm concerned. Yes. I think they're under right here.
C
So to close it out, we have our what the FUD of the Week, where we share something that happened this past week that made us say what the fud. Gekko, do you have a what the fud to share?
A
I do have a what the fud? I saw a ufo. What? Yeah, I saw a ufo. It was a what the fud moment. I took a picture of the sunset and I could have sworn there was, like an alien spaceship in the sky. But no, it was just a little smudge from lunch that was on my. On my camera.
B
The shrimp pesto pasta must have been good. Maya, what the FUD is having you on FUT around and find out.
C
Absolutely.
A
This is the first ever podcast I've ever been on, and I've enjoyed every second of it with you guys.
C
We're honored.
B
Gekko, thank you so much for your time today. It was an honor to have you and an honor just share your first podcast. This was incredible.
A
Thank you, Az.
B
That is all for today's episode of FUD around and find out. Don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and we'll be back next week.
A
How do I block out of this? Sorry, hang on. What button do I touch it?
C
This is so cool.
A
Are they lovely? Hey,
B
Sam.
