Sarah Williams
Hey.
Ashanti Plummer
Everything is good. I'm super excited. We have a dope episode and things are super califragilistic and sbialidocious because we're joined by your teammate.
Az Fudd
Sarah Williams.
Ashanti Plummer
Yes, hello.
Sarah Williams
First time on a podcast?
Ashanti Plummer
Oh, ever. This is your first podcast ever?
Sarah Williams
I think so.
Az Fudd
Oh my gosh, I am so honored.
Sarah Williams
Yeah, az just, you know, I had to let her have the first one, no one else.
Ashanti Plummer
Listen, AZ is goaded right now.
Sarah Williams
You're too good to me.
Ashanti Plummer
Too good to me. First we got Gino, now we got Sarah. And it's good out here. I saw recently that your team went to event. Everybody was in pink. Tell me all about that.
Az Fudd
Yes. So this past week, Paula's Choice threw a dinner for us. And it was the team, it was some staff, some other people, but the theme, they asked like, what I wanted for the dinner and I said pink. I said I wanted to be chill, I wanted to be pink, and I want to have a good time. So they got Paula Choice, got us matching pink sweatsuits. There was a little bracelet making station. There was some cute little mocktails. Was at a bowling alley. Did you bowl at all?
Sarah Williams
No, I didn't bowl. You didn't bowl? No.
Az Fudd
Not even like once?
Sarah Williams
Mm.
Az Fudd
Mm.
Sarah Williams
I'm not a big bowler.
Az Fudd
I mean, me neither, but I still did it once.
Ashanti Plummer
She was there for the vibes.
Sarah Williams
I was there for the vibes. The vibes. I was there for the everything else. Everything that was free. Everything free.
Az Fudd
But the bow there for the product, the bracelets.
Sarah Williams
I left with some things. Thank you. Paula's Choice.
Ashanti Plummer
Me bigger with some cute new disposable camera.
Sarah Williams
I did.
Az Fudd
We gotta take some pictures on that.
Sarah Williams
Yes.
Az Fudd
But yeah, it was. It was a great time. It was a great time.
Ashanti Plummer
Yeah, it sounds like fun. You know, we have a saying on this podcast. If it's for free, it's for me. Okay. That's.
Sarah Williams
That's the truth. Trust. I'm leaving with some.
Az Fudd
We got these cute little bags that they like stitched for us with our names on it. And Sarah's bag was packed with things that she was bringing home.
Sarah Williams
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Ashanti Plummer
So, Sarah, I'm so glad you're joining us. I want to know a little bit more about you. So I know that you're born and raised in Brooklyn and then you moved. Tell us all about your journey.
Sarah Williams
Yeah, so I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I moved to Toronto in about 2018. I finished my middle school years there and then all of high school there and then went to Wisconsin, and now I'm in the beautiful state of Connecticut. Connecticut. The campus is more compact, if that makes sense. So like, yeah, I don't know, you just notice different. You notice different things. And obviously our facilities here, like, we don't have to share facilities with different sports.
Ashanti Plummer
Nice.
Sarah Williams
It's nice. Like upstairs we got like chefs who cook whatever for us. And yeah, it's just, it's different, but it's good. I love it.
Az Fudd
Wait, I have a question. Did you ever go swimming in that lake at Wisconsin?
Sarah Williams
I don't know how to swim. Oh.
Az Fudd
Nevermind.
Sarah Williams
Sad. I don't do no water.
Az Fudd
You don't swim?
Sarah Williams
No, not at all.
Ashanti Plummer
Sarah, tell us about your background. Like where's your family from?
Sarah Williams
My family is Nigerian.
Ashanti Plummer
Okay, what's the same?
Sarah Williams
Nigerian.
Ashanti Plummer
What is that? Nigeria?
Sarah Williams
No, carry last. Come on, Nigel, carry last. There we go. Yes. My mom is Yoruba family. Full blood, full blown. Yoruba.
Ashanti Plummer
Fun fact. I'm like 60% Nigerian, Igbo. And I found out from 23andMe.
Sarah Williams
Really?
Ashanti Plummer
So I'm jacking it now. Like that's it. You can't tell me no different. I gotta get a new name. Somebody do like a naming ceremony for me. A.C. you, you did 23andme before?
Az Fudd
No, what's that?
Ashanti Plummer
It's basically when you send like your DNA to get analyzed. Yeah, I sent my spit and it basically tells you like where your background's from. And so my family is mostly like Jamaican American. And then I found out I'm 60% Nigerian, so I really have to tap in.
Sarah Williams
Yeah, that's crazy because one of my friends did that too. And she was like, her family is Guyanese and Jamaican. Nice. And she's like 20% Nigerian.
Ashanti Plummer
Come on, we everywhere.
Sarah Williams
Everywhere.
Ashanti Plummer
You next? Az.
Sarah Williams
She's probably Nigerian.
Ashanti Plummer
100%.
Az Fudd
Maybe I am. She probably is.
Ashanti Plummer
We will get you a new name. So did a little research and got to talk to some of your friends. Brother Ian Manuel and Uncle Olu. Uncle Olu is not either one of us real uncle. You grew up in the church and from there, can you just tell us what that was like and how your faith plays a role in your life now?
Sarah Williams
Oh yeah. Like again, I grew up in the church and ever since I was young, I was just always just drawn to like God. Just interested in like amazing wonders that, you know, they teach you in the church, that you read in the Bible. And obviously I've been through a lot of changes in my life so far and just having the faith of, you know, being able to get through certain challenges. And I don't think it'll take a lot to break me just because I know, like, I have the strength of the Lord and he's brought me this far and there's just, there's more to go.
Az Fudd
I love that.
Ashanti Plummer
You better. Come on, sing it to that. My girl never would have made it. That was good without You. Come on. Azy, I know you know this.
Sarah Williams
I would have liked to sing.
Az Fudd
I do know it, but I can't sing it. You guys got it.
Ashanti Plummer
Az, you're also like faith based. What does that look like for you?
Az Fudd
I am. Mine is more recent, but I think a huge reason of that is due to my teammates and seeing just the peace that they had about them and how they were able to handle certain situations, injuries, things during the season, family stuff, but just this, like, I don't even know how to describe it, but just like this like, peacefulness, this certain way that they would carry themselves during it. And it always amazed me. So I was like, you know what? Like, I want to experience that too. Like, they always talk about God and their faith and I never really understood it. So last year I really, like took that step in inviting Jesus and God into my life and I've noticed such a huge difference. So I'm really excited to have more teammates that I can then talk to about this. Because, I mean, talking to other people that get it, like, that's how you grow your faith. So having Sarah, I'm excited to bond over this with her later.
Ashanti Plummer
Yeah, no, I love that. I actually share the same faith as you guys and I discovered Jesus for myself when I was a sophomore in college. So it's really nice when you're set up in the situation that you're in because you have like a tight knit community at UConn and being able to take that journey with your teammates, be able to, you know, go to church or do Bible study and have that, like, you know, like minded people altogether is really nice. And it's a unique experience because then once you graduate, it's like, okay, now I gotta find my community outside of this. I think that's super dope. And I love that through the ups and downs, whether it be injuries or during the season or just life, you're able to have something that's never changing and consistent and constant. And yeah, it just gets you through those moments that might be a little bit tougher.
Sarah Williams
So that's.
Ashanti Plummer
Do I have a funny story Talking about back to Brother E and Uncle Olu. So I talked with him and he told me back in the day, you know, he's known you since you were about 5 or 6, and he used to say that you always used to have a runny nose.
Sarah Williams
Oh my gosh, I still do. I don't know what it is. Like, I'm trying to hide my sniffles, but ever since I was young, like my nose Always runs, like, January through December. Like, always run to. And I don't know if it's like, something wrong with me or if I just need to take some medication. I never had the time to get it checked up. But, yeah, like, X A in practice, like, every time you get a break, I'm grabbing tissues, I'm going. My nose. Like, every time. No.
Az Fudd
Yeah, he.
Ashanti Plummer
I think he calls you, like, Booger or something.
Sarah Williams
Yeah, he used to call me Runny Nose or something like that. He's like, your nose always run. I was like, I can't open. I can't.
Az Fudd
This is good for the nickname search. Boogers.
Ashanti Plummer
No, literally, but.
Az Fudd
Oh, that's too close. Okay. What? Think of something else. Oh, think of something like snot.
Ashanti Plummer
Oh, goodness, look at something cute. Something cute, like. But he said. He said he used to tell you, wipe your nose to go take a nap.
Sarah Williams
Yeah, he did. He used to be the main one on me about it every Sunday. I knew what I was going to hear about it.
Ashanti Plummer
All right, so let's take a pivot. Let's start talking a little bit more about basketball. And you're transferring over from Wisconsin over to UConn. So tell us a little bit about, like, what motivate you to leave Wisconsin.
Sarah Williams
It was giving. You know, you only have four years of college, and it was my last year, and I just had goals. Like, I want to play in March. I want to. Like, I just wanted more. I think I owed it to myself to experience the fullness that college basketball could bring. So I decided to go in the portal because I just wanted, like, more from the basketball standpoint. I think I've lived in college. If anyone could tell you, Madison is a fun place to be. But now for the basketball side, I just. I want it to fulfill that part in me. So I was like, yeah. Bye, Madison. Love everyone. Gotta go.
Az Fudd
Storrs is really happy to have you.
Sarah Williams
Yeah, happy to be here.
Az Fudd
Sarah, what were your other official visits like? You kept it pretty quiet where you were, who you were talking to, where you were.
Sarah Williams
I keep it quiet. I was just blessed in a position where, you know, I had a lot of options but a short amount of time to make a decision. So I only went on three. You heard it here? Like, someone leaked it. Skims. Mulkey leaked it. And I was like, how did she know this? Like, so I went to UNC, LSU, and obviously UConn. UNC was a beautiful campus. What they call it? Chapel Hill. Yeah, that was my first one. Loved the team, loved the coaches, the Gear. The Carolina blue was beautiful.
Az Fudd
It was some nice.
Sarah Williams
It was beautiful. It was nice. After unc, I went to lsu, Baton Rouge. It was my first time in the South. I think I went to Atlanta once, but that was my first time ever in Louisiana. The coaches were really nice to me. I met a few of the players. The campus is nice. The facilities and.
Az Fudd
Is it a big campus?
Sarah Williams
It's never been. It's big. Yeah. And they have a tiger.
Az Fudd
Like an actual. Like how we have Jonathan walking around.
Sarah Williams
They have a tiger.
Az Fudd
That's actually.
Sarah Williams
That's crazy. No, it's like a big, like, playpen thingy. And I think it's in front of, like, the football stadium. It's a tiger on campus. And they took me to a dinner, which I know everyone saw on Twitter, and they were.
Az Fudd
There were a lot of questions about this LSU dinner.
Ashanti Plummer
Wait, tell us about it. Because I didn't see it on Twitter.
Sarah Williams
Okay. So I was very quiet about my process because I just didn't want outside noise to, like, influence. So I went to a dinner with lsu. You know how they do for visits. And it was a really nice dinner. It was fun. Again, the people there were great. And then, you know how you. In a club and.
Az Fudd
Hold on.
Sarah Williams
Like in a section, they had one of those. And I was like, oh, like, I'm remind you, I'm eating, like, some burnt steak, Steak ends or whatever. Barbecue burnt steak.
Ashanti Plummer
Yeah.
Sarah Williams
It wasn't burned, but isn't that what it's called? Yeah, burns. Whatever. I'm eating, and all I see is sparklers and a sign, and I'm like, oh, my gosh. And I was. I was like, oh, my God. Like, this is.
Az Fudd
Wait, what did the sign say? Like, Sarah to LSU or something?
Sarah Williams
Something like that. Or go something. I don't remember. And it was playing like their little. They have a. Like a theme song, their school song. And everyone's just clapping and the sparklers, and it's like a good time. And then it got posted, and then everyone's just kind of like, oh, Sarah's going now. Let's see. She's going. She's going there. She's going there. For sure. She's going there. And I was like, this is exactly what I didn't want.
Az Fudd
It's exactly why you kept it quiet.
Sarah Williams
Kept it quiet. And when that got posted and I was like, oh, wow. Like, they're going to run with it. They're going to run with it. And that's exactly what they did. They ran with it. And yeah, everyone was like, for sure she's going to LSU because of a sign at a dinner or whatever. Again, I loved it, and I loved the effort that the coaches put into trying to get me there. But, yeah, it was fun. I really did. I really enjoyed the visit. But I chose UConn for my own reasons, because it aligned with what I wanted for my last year. I think out of my options, it was the best place that, again, I could look back and be like, I gave college basketball my all. I pushed myself and to be able to play with some of the best players in the country and coached by the best coaches in the country. At a point, I sat down, I was like, even though it's in stores, Connecticut, it's not an opportunity I could pass up on. What you mean? Sword is safe.
Ashanti Plummer
We gonna cut that for your safety. Tell us about your visit to UConn.
Sarah Williams
I got here, and then I had met at the dinner. You know, when you land, you go have dinner with a few of the teammates. It was kk, Jana, Sarah. I think it was only them three. And at first, like, when I'm around new people, I'm a little more quiet and reserved because I'm just trying to, like, walk.
Az Fudd
Wait, was Kaylee there?
Sarah Williams
Was she there? Oh, Kaylee, too. Yes. We did a joint visit, so I was just pretty quiet. And then I was just like, wait. Like, off the bat, I was like, these girls are funny. Like, my type of funny. Like, the humor is up there, so I'm just, like, eating, and I'm, like, checking in a little bit. They're really funny. And then the tour canvas here is beautiful. Like, I love grass. I compliment the grass all the time. I'm like, they. They keep up with the grass here.
Ashanti Plummer
Like, I know they have grass at all.
Sarah Williams
Wisconsin, they did, but, like. But here, like, the lawns and stuff, like, they make sure it looks right here is different.
Ashanti Plummer
Keep the grass.
Sarah Williams
The grass here is good. Like, it is different. Like, even though it's not as, like, busy, like, it's nice, you know, like, to be able to walk and, like, the peacefulness of it and, like, everything just new. So it's always just something to look forward to every time you, like, go for a walk. But, yeah, the gyms was nice. All the trophies that were around, like, they literally have trophies, like, propping the door open. I was like. I was like, wow. Like, that's incredible that you could even, you know, do that. And then the banners and the. In the practice gym, and all the staff were very welcoming, the players, very welcoming. And I loved the honesty from the coaches. They didn't try to sweet talk me. They were just straight up and honest. And at a certain point, I did commit on my visit, it just felt right. Yeah, it just felt right.
Ashanti Plummer
Yeah.
Sarah Williams
So I always trust that feeling I have. And then, yeah, now I'm here.
Az Fudd
That's funny. You thought you were quiet. Because I remember being at the dinner at Coach's restaurant and I was like, she's got a good personality. She's actually talking and engaging where Kaylee was like, mute. She was quiet and I was like, sarah's joking around, she's talking. I was like, she'd fit in really well.
Sarah Williams
That was crazy because I. That's like quiet for me.
Az Fudd
Like, not, I mean, knowing you now, but like, I thought for being on your visit and not knowing anyone, being in a new place, you were still very.
Sarah Williams
That's true. Thanks.
Az Fudd
You mean it was a fun dinner sitting with you? Sometimes you're like, okay, like, have to drag things out of people to get them to talk. Like, you were just.
Sarah Williams
Thank you.
Az Fudd
What were you most intimidated by before coming to UConn?
Sarah Williams
Just stepping into a new culture of like, winning.
Ashanti Plummer
Like, that wasn't.
Sarah Williams
Wait, cut that out too.
Ashanti Plummer
How is it going to say we're.
Sarah Williams
Not cutting that, we're not cutting that. We need that.
Ashanti Plummer
You heard, you heard it here first. You stepping into a winning culture.
Sarah Williams
Uh huh. Um, that. Because I knew, I knew nothing about this was going to be easy, like on and off the court. I knew that from the jump. I didn't expect it to be this hard. Like, I knew it wasn't going to be easy. So just like, knowing that like every day was really going to be a battle. And that's what I wanted though, like, and I'm like, learning to embrace it now because obviously, you know, challenges are challenges, but, like, it's what I wanted. I was in. So coming in and like, no, I'm here for a reason. I don't need to, like, overly do too much or try to prove myself. Like, just do what you're good at and don't let like, you know, random outside things. Try to like, make you, like, fit what you think. I need to be in the winning culture that I'm now part of, if that makes sense.
Az Fudd
Yeah. No, I can't imagine transferring your last year. Like, you knew Wisconsin system, what the coaches wanted and now like, your last. It's not even a full year you have here and you're figuring out a new system, new coaching style, new players, and that's why I was excited. Like, I knew you were going to be fun to play with in the summer. When we were playing pickup and you were like, what do you like? Do you like ball screens? Do you like pitch and catch? Do you like this? You're like, I'm just trying to figure out how you like to play so I can get to know you. And, like, you really trying to figure out the chemistry with each player stood out to me. And I was like, okay, she's gonna be fun to play with. Cause she picks up on this stuff fast.
Sarah Williams
I love playing with people who, like, you know, love to play basketball. Like, after being somewhere for three years, I don't want it to be all me. Like, I want to play. Like, I want to pass, like, set good screens. Like, I like, just love seeing that, like, in a basketball game. Like, you can guard 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 of us and we got a bench. You can't guard them. That confidence in the team, that's just what I'm really excited for. And I want, you know, my teammates to trust me and, like, both sides of the floor. And I trust them too. Like, so it's been fun so far.
Ashanti Plummer
What was your first impression of az?
Az Fudd
Oh, actually, I'm very curious to know. I was going to ask you this the other day in the locker room too.
Sarah Williams
And then she left.
Az Fudd
I left. So I didn't hear. So, yeah, hit me.
Sarah Williams
When was it? It was the picture when we was taking pictures. Was that one?
Az Fudd
Oh, yeah, yeah, in the locker room.
Sarah Williams
It was the pictures. She's quieter than I thought. Like, I. Okay. The first thing I didn't expect AZ to talk like that. Her voice, how she sounds.
Az Fudd
What did.
Sarah Williams
Hi. Amazing. I was like, I think I called my friend. I was like, I didn't expect easy.
Ashanti Plummer
To sound like that.
Az Fudd
What did you think? Like, hey, what's up?
Sarah Williams
Actually, like, a little. She's like, very soft spoken and it's like. Like a very, like, girly voice.
Ashanti Plummer
If that makes.
Sarah Williams
If that makes sense.
Ashanti Plummer
The princess.
Sarah Williams
But like, yes, a very princessy voice. Yeah, I'm easy. Like, when you're coming off the screen, like, make sure you pass it.
Az Fudd
Like, not what I saw. I'm gonna hit you with something else today. Oh, we don't practice today. Next time in practice, gonna hit you with something else. You're like.
Sarah Williams
Just wait.
Az Fudd
I'm so serious too.
Sarah Williams
Just wait. I'm gonna laugh. Oh, that was funny.
Ashanti Plummer
Okay, so what was your impression of Gino?
Sarah Williams
When I first spoke to him, it was over zoom. Because before I play my visits. I had zooms with the schools. It was very much like, he has this aura of intimidation about him. And I was on the phone. We was on the zoom. And then he, like, take. He took pauses between. He spoke, and I was like, am I saying the wrong thing? Like, is he not? Like, is this not what he. You know, I was like. And I literally texted my coach. I'm like, why is he taking pauses? Like, is he bored? Am I not saying something right? And he was just like, no. Like, that's just, like, how he is. And he was. I like his honesty. I like the honesty that he gave me. That's just what you really need at a certain point. And with my last year, I needed just straight honesty, and he gave that to me.
Ashanti Plummer
It's important to keep it real. It's your last year. It's y' all last year. Might as well go out in an honest bang. So you said that you learned your teammates personalities from their social media. Has it matched up?
Sarah Williams
It's more than what's on social media.
Ashanti Plummer
Oh, tell us.
Sarah Williams
Sarah Strong is the biggest one because, like, she's painted to be this awkward, quiet, like, person, but she's, like, the complete opposite. She's like, one of the funniest people I've ever met. Like, one of the funniest people. And she like. It don't take much for her to speak neither, like. So, like, how she's portrayed is the complete opposite. Kk just a goofball. She's funny. Azy too. Like, she's the dances I see and the fashion outfits. She's az's funny. Az's very funny. Thanks. I can't say her jokes here because they're gonna have to get cut, but, you know, everyone has a personality which is, like, nice to be around. Everyone has their own unique personality.
Az Fudd
I feel like this team is really fun. There's a lot of big personalities, but it's not, like, too much. Like, they mesh.
Sarah Williams
They all work. And it's like with everyone. Everyone could be with each other and switch and then it'll still be fun.
Ashanti Plummer
Okay, well, I did my due diligence and I was on your social media and, I mean, your videos are entertaining, at least from your tiktoks. And I see you're rocking. I think that's a little lulu or something. I love a little athleisure or, like, athletic wear. And I saw that you're starting to get more into, like, fashion and putting on fits. Yes, yes, girl.
Az Fudd
Tell us about that.
Sarah Williams
Growing up, my Mom's a single mom, obviously didn't have much. So when I got to college and started making my own money, I just got interested in like, okay, like who am I? Like when I put on clothes, like, mm. I got stuff that I wanted when I was younger. Like, I don't even wear them as much, but I just wanted it. So, like, you know, some shoes. Like a big sneaker head. Like a big sneaker head.
Ashanti Plummer
Yes, same.
Sarah Williams
But then now I'm like into the girly side. Like, I love Lulu. I'm starting to get into aloe a little bit. I don't know how I really feel about the wide. The little, what they call it the baggy. The wide legs.
Az Fudd
The wide legs up hands.
Sarah Williams
Yeah.
Ashanti Plummer
Yeah.
Az Fudd
You're more of a fitted.
Sarah Williams
Yeah, A fitted body is tee.
Ashanti Plummer
Okay, thanks.
Sarah Williams
Easy. But yeah, the. The mix between like girly and comfy. And now they make cute clothes for tall women. Finally. I had to wait 20 years for it. So to being able to like play around with that and figure out like what I like, what I don't like, what looks good on me and what doesn't. It's been fun to like experiment with.
Az Fudd
She'll be on her scooter going to class with her little matching Lulu set with her purse on her Gucci purse and just. All right, going to class.
Sarah Williams
I always wonder if people like thought my priorities were off because I'm on a scooter with the Gucci bag.
Ashanti Plummer
Feels bougie. I love it. I love it. Who says you can't do both? Girl who says you can't do both?
Az Fudd
She shows that you can, right?
Ashanti Plummer
Exactly. Girly and focused.
Sarah Williams
On.

Okay, so we have some fan questions that we're gonna get into. All right. Az, you're gonna help me ask some of them too.
Az Fudd
You wanna take the first? I'm curious about a lot of them.
Sarah Williams
All right.
Az Fudd
How did you get your nickname? Big Canada?
Sarah Williams
You know, Kelisa's stream. So you're on stream and okay, the whole Canada Thing I'm not officially Canadian yet. I'm almost there. So the big. The Canada thing is funny because, like I live there, but I'm not really Canadian. So we were on stream and Sarah Strong is playing Fortnite and then she's trying to troll. She's like, everyone put big Canada in the chat. Big Canada in the chat. And then they put big Canada in the chat. When they would troll me, they would say, extra small Canada, medium.
Az Fudd
Wait, that's actually funny.
Sarah Williams
It was funny. So that's where it came from. Extra small can. Extra small can. Because the chat would troll. Troll them back. The UConn fans are very funny. They are very.
Az Fudd
They are very, very funny. They are. We're actually on the hunt of finding a nickname for Sarah because we have two Sarahs. Yeah, she doesn't like anything. She like literally nothing she's liked. So if you have any suggestions, please.
Sarah Williams
Because it has to be cool.
Az Fudd
She wants to be girly. You don't want cool. You want girly.
Sarah Williams
And it has to stick. Like they said wills like damn big wheels. I don't look like a Wills girl as well.
Az Fudd
S Dub.
Sarah Williams
They used to call me that in middle school because it was another Sarah in my class. So they used to call me S Dub.
Ashanti Plummer
The listeners, you're gonna have to nickname Sarah. We want to see the. The comments.
Az Fudd
I'm gonna try snot next practice.
Sarah Williams
No.
Ashanti Plummer
Oh, my goodness. Boogers.
Sarah Williams
Snotty. Lucas is cute. Okay. That's cute.
Az Fudd
Snotty.
Sarah Williams
Yeah.
Ashanti Plummer
Do you all right, snotty? Because it could also be something else. You know how you call her like bougie? So you know, snotty, like, you know.
Sarah Williams
But like imagine me on the court, like snotty.
Az Fudd
It would just be snot.
Sarah Williams
I'm actually not mad at that.
Az Fudd
Yeah, we're getting somewhere.
Sarah Williams
That's. Yeah. Let's keep cooking though.
Az Fudd
Okay.
Ryan Seacrest
Let's kick.
Az Fudd
You get back in the lab.
Ashanti Plummer
So the fans want to know what AZ is like without the cameras. I know you talked about how she has personality. Is there anything else?
Sarah Williams
AZ is how you would imagine any 22 year old girl to be. I'm trying to not to get into too much details because it probably won't get posted. But like think about a very fun, very fun college girl. Okay. A good time with personality. I don't know. I can't say it.
Ashanti Plummer
Oh my goodness.
Az Fudd
We make it big.
Sarah Williams
As bad.
Ashanti Plummer
We say you gotta come on, it's not bad.
Sarah Williams
Like, it's like she's very funny. She likes to her hood of Dances.
Az Fudd
Okay, next question. Who on the team is best at Fortnite?
Ashanti Plummer
Are you good at Fortnite?
Sarah Williams
No, the best at Fortnite. Sarah Strong.
Az Fudd
I've never seen Sarah play Fortnite. She should play with.
Sarah Williams
She plays with, like, the keyboard. Oh, yeah.
Az Fudd
That means you're good.
Sarah Williams
Yeah, that's actually good.
Az Fudd
Why do you wear number 22?
Ashanti Plummer
My favorite number.
Sarah Williams
I wear 25. So in high school, I wore 20. Wisconsin, 25. Ice has 25. So I was going to do two plus five. Seven. Kelis has seven. So then I was like, oh, what can I do? Like, 20. Like, everything didn't sound right, but 22. 22 was like. Like, you know, cooked a little bit with it. So I chose 22 just because it, like, I feel like it fit. It had to be two digits, and it had to start with a two. Okay. So there were no significance. Just pure vibes.
Az Fudd
Pure vibes. I love that number. I like it. I think it fits you.
Sarah Williams
Thank you.
Ashanti Plummer
I love it myself. It's my number in college. It's part of most of my social media. It's my favorite number.
Sarah Williams
You should get it tatted on you.
Ashanti Plummer
That's a great idea. I love that. In your opinion, do your coaches have a favorite?
Sarah Williams
No, I don't think. At least so far. I haven't noticed. I haven't noticed anything. Everyone gets their fair share of critique, coaching.
Az Fudd
I agree with that.
Sarah Williams
Yeah. Okay.
Az Fudd
All right. Who'd you said? We kind of said they want to know who the funniest teammate is.
Sarah Williams
It's between KK and Sarah.
Az Fudd
No, your apartment is actually unmatched between KK and Sarah.
Sarah Williams
And not going to lie. Ice is up there. Ice is like. Ice is up there. But between KK and Sarah, I can't. I can't decide. Like, barefoot. They're very funny in, like, the same way, but different. Like, when kid does that little I love you, Sarah. That kills me. Like, every time.
Ashanti Plummer
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah.
Sarah Williams
You do a good job of mimicking, because I hear it all the time. No, they're. No between those two for sure.
Ashanti Plummer
Another fan question is, do you like cottage cheese?
Sarah Williams
No.
Az Fudd
Sarah is a picky. She doesn't even like fruit. She doesn't like fruit. She said fruit's not sweet.
Sarah Williams
Okay. Let me tell you. I don't like fruit because the inconsistency of fruit.
Ashanti Plummer
Oh, texture.
Sarah Williams
I want a strawberry. Yeah. If I want a strawberry, it's not even the texture. It's the flavor.
Ashanti Plummer
Oh.
Az Fudd
Sometimes it's sweet, sometimes it's not.
Sarah Williams
Yeah. Like, sometimes it's sweet. Sometimes it's bitter. Sometimes it has no taste. If I get a piece of fruit, especially if I pay for it, it needs to be enjoyable. I shouldn't have to eat it just to eat it. Like, I want to enjoy it. So I don't really like fruit. I eat mangoes. Mangoes are pretty consistent. So good. Bananas are consistent. Those are the only two consistent fruits.
Az Fudd
Apples.
Sarah Williams
I don't like apples. I like apple juice. I don't like apple.
Az Fudd
Okay, whatever. What are your hobbies outside of basketball?
Sarah Williams
I love to shop. I love to shop. I like to eat and I love to shop.
Ashanti Plummer
My kind of girl walks.
Sarah Williams
I do like to walk when it's nice. Like, I think I'm gonna walk today from the gym today. Yeah. Legos love Legos. And I like to listen to music.
Az Fudd
TikTok you raw on TikTok.
Sarah Williams
I like. If you ask me anything about a meme, I probably know it. She does know a lot of memes. Like, my meme knowledge is probably like, is up there. It's up there for sure. Okay.
Ashanti Plummer
Do you have any basketball role models?
Sarah Williams
Asia Wilson.
Ashanti Plummer
And you're wearing 22. Come on now.
Sarah Williams
Mm. Oh. I didn't even put this together.
Az Fudd
Look at that.
Sarah Williams
Yes. I love Asia. Unintentional, unintentional greatness.
Az Fudd
So are you rooting for them for the finals?
Sarah Williams
Yes. Go Asus.

Okay, so we're gonna get into our Fighting Game segment of the pod. The first game we're going to play is going to be like a who does it better? And it is going to be Midwest versus East Coast. So I'm going to list a couple things and you're going to tell us who did it better. Okay, Ready? First one is Fall activities.
Sarah Williams
Who does it better? Midwest. Oof.
Az Fudd
Why do you say that?
Sarah Williams
They just do more. I don't know. Like I feel like, I feel like.
Az Fudd
We'Re gonna do more these next couple weekends. You'll see.
Sarah Williams
I'm gonna say I still say Midwest.
Az Fudd
You can still say Midwest. It's fine.
Ashanti Plummer
Yeah, that's fine. Ties to your opinion, but, you know, we biased.
Az Fudd
Yeah, yeah.
Sarah Williams
So you say East Coast.
Az Fudd
I've never really had a Midwest ball, so that's fair.
Ashanti Plummer
East coast, definitely. East coast also biased. Okay, next, bagels.
Sarah Williams
East. East Coast.
Az Fudd
Specifically New York.
Sarah Williams
Yes.
Ashanti Plummer
Come on. We all aligns. Outdoor activities.
Az Fudd
Oh, I'm gonna say Midwest.
Sarah Williams
Midwest.
Ashanti Plummer
Yeah, probably.
Az Fudd
I'm a lake early.
Ashanti Plummer
Yeah, the lakes, we love a body of water. Ice cream anywhere, honestly. Does the Midwest do like a special ice cream? I don't know about.
Sarah Williams
I don't think they have a special ice cream, but that's where all the cows are.
Ashanti Plummer
I mean, you know what points here? The cows here.
Sarah Williams
The cows here. I don't eat dairy, so I couldn't be able to answer that.
Ashanti Plummer
Okay.
Az Fudd
I mean, good ice cream, but the dairy bar for good things. Dairy bar is good. I'll say here. East Coast.
Ashanti Plummer
Okay. Pizza.
Sarah Williams
East Coast.
Az Fudd
East Coast. Again, New York.
Ashanti Plummer
New York specific. I love whoever made this game.
Az Fudd
The people.
Ashanti Plummer
Friendliness is what we're talking about. Who's more friendly, Midwest or East Coast?
Sarah Williams
Not gonna lie. The East Coast.
Ashanti Plummer
Wow. Why do you say that?
Sarah Williams
I'm surprised because, like, maybe because, you know, I grew up in the east coast, and they're, like, more my people. But the Midwest, I feel like they're overly friendly, that they feel like they have to be friendly and not really be authentically themselves. At least in the east coast, you're gonna get it straight off the bat.
Az Fudd
You'Re gonna know what it is.
Sarah Williams
And the Midwest, they're like. They play nice. They play nice. Yeah. Okay.
Ashanti Plummer
The thing about the east coast is we'll do something kind but with an attitude. But it's still nice. You know what I mean? Like, you inconvenienced me, so I have an attitude. But I'm still gonna help you up these steps.
Sarah Williams
You know what I mean?
Ashanti Plummer
So that's a good answer. I actually think the nicest people are in the south, but that's New York Southern hospitality.
Sarah Williams
Yeah. Okay.
Ashanti Plummer
Nightlife, East Coast.
Az Fudd
I'm also gonna say East Coast.
Ashanti Plummer
East coast basketball.
Az Fudd
East Coast.
Sarah Williams
I would say the Midwest. The Midwest.
Ashanti Plummer
Why do you say that? Why do you say that?
Sarah Williams
Like, just overall, like, more enjoyable basketball. Like, if I'm outside, I'm not a basketball player. And I just want to watch to enjoy the teams that play in the Midwest. The games are more enjoyable and not UConn blowing everyone out in the big East.
Ashanti Plummer
Okay, got you. So it's Like, a little bit more competitive in the Midwest and maybe, like. I don't know. I don't know. I never. I don't think I've been to a game out there. But yes, when UConn's smacking everybody, that's probably not as fun to watch.
Az Fudd
It's fun to play in.
Sarah Williams
I wouldn't know.
Ashanti Plummer
Okay, so that wraps up our who does it better? Next we're gonna get into our what the FUD of the week. So if you don't know the what the FUD of the week is something that happened this week that made you go, what the fud. So, Sarah, as our honored guest, what's your what the FUD of the week?
Sarah Williams
My what The FUD is Keith Powell Powers or Powells and Ryan Destiny announcing their engagement.
Julian Edelman
Yeah.
Ashanti Plummer
I was like, wait, what?
Sarah Williams
Cause I thought they had broken up and all this stuff. But they're pictures were beautiful.
Az Fudd
They looked really good.
Sarah Williams
Yeah. Really good. They're gonna such a beautiful couple. Come on. Beautiful babies. Beautiful babies.
Ashanti Plummer
We love black love.
Sarah Williams
We do.
Ashanti Plummer
I think my what the FUD of the week would be you guys being number one and projected in the polls. Shout out to your team. UConn.
Sarah Williams
Woo. Woo.
Ashanti Plummer
Not a surprise, though, for me.
Az Fudd
I didn't even know that came out.
Sarah Williams
Yeah, me either.
Ashanti Plummer
It's okay. You don't need to worry about that. That doesn't matter for y'.
Az Fudd
All.
Ashanti Plummer
Y' all lock it. But for those who don't play at UConn, that was exciting for me to see and also not a shock, like reigning champs. Come on now. So our final game, we're going to play FUD or fiction. So I'm going to read some scenarios that are either going to be truth, FUD or fiction. You guys ready?
Sarah Williams
Yeah.
Az Fudd
Yes.
Sarah Williams
Is this a game, like, for points?
Az Fudd
I think this is really, like, a game for you. And if I don't get it right, then that's just, like, embarrassing because I think it's a about me. Okay, so this is kind of like a. How well do you. I think some of it's not about me, but, like. No, you know me.
Sarah Williams
Okay.
Ashanti Plummer
No, honestly, asy, you might be surprised by some of this.
Az Fudd
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
Ashanti Plummer
The first one, before Jonathan the Husky, your team was originally known as the Aggies.
Sarah Williams
Fiction.
Az Fudd
Fiction.
Ashanti Plummer
Okay, okay. It's actually true. The university's official name was the Connecticut agriculture college from 1899 to 1933. The Aggies.
Az Fudd
I had no idea. I told you.
Ashanti Plummer
This could be for both of y'.
Sarah Williams
All.
Ashanti Plummer
Next one. UConn was originally founded in Stanford, but multiple bootlegging violations by students during the Prohibition forced the administration to move the school to stores. FUD or fiction?
Sarah Williams
Fud.
Az Fudd
Like, I feel like that could be true, but I'm gonna go fiction. Since you said fud.
Ashanti Plummer
It is fiction. Our producers made that up. It was so thorough and, well, yeah.
Az Fudd
It was very detailed.
Ashanti Plummer
I was like, who took this from a textbook and copied and pasted this? Okay, ready? Instead of landing on Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower was originally supposed to land on a shore in Connecticut.
Sarah Williams
Fiction. Fiction.
Ashanti Plummer
The Mayflower was originally meant to land in New York City, which was still considered the north parts of Virginia at the time. Look at us learning. It's giving history. Okay, ready? Oh, my gosh, this next one. Before a dinner with Travis Kelce, Tim Fudd realized that his shirt did not fit. So he went on a search in New York City for a new one an hour before the appointment.
Az Fudd
Fud.
Sarah Williams
Fud.
Ashanti Plummer
Yes. It is the truth. That's crazy. But on par with pop the FUD.
Az Fudd
Exactly.
Ashanti Plummer
Two more. The rock on UConn's campus is actually a meteorite.
Sarah Williams
Fiction. Fiction.
Ashanti Plummer
Yes, that's fiction.
Sarah Williams
Yeah.
Ashanti Plummer
Cause our team is real creative. Okay, last one. You ready? Az's mom played against coach Gino in the early parts of his career.
Sarah Williams
Fun.
Ashanti Plummer
But that is true. That's so cool. We need to find some old tape.
Az Fudd
They actually showed me some of my visit. She went for plane.
Sarah Williams
Did they say mine? Valid question.
Ashanti Plummer
If you're listening, the answer is no.
Az Fudd
My mom played at Georgetown. The answer is no.
Ashanti Plummer
AZ is making a face like absolutely not.
Az Fudd
That is a wrap on today's episode. Sarah, thank you so much for joining us. Those an honor and I'm so glad that we could be your first podcast. Hope you had fun.
Sarah Williams
Thank you for having me. I had a lot of fun.
Az Fudd

Sarah Williams
Inspired by shocking actual events, I'm working.
Az Fudd
