Thought Squad
In real life, Harry Belafonte told me, because in the past life I was a youth poet. But like not in a. Not in the back. I was youth poet. So it's cool when the youth do it.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Thought Squad
When 50 year old men do it, I'm like, why are we here? But anyways, I would not be. I literally would not be doing this if my husband wasn't who my husband was. If I made two stupider decisions in my life, I would still be at the non profit that I hate. People say, how do you come up with these lyrics? How come like trauma 100% hoes depressed? Yes, Hoes depressed. I'm gonna be able to levitate. I know it. I'm gonna figure it out. When I get old and have just surpassed all of whatever's happening here, I'm gonna be levitating.
Kid Fury
Niggas and friends. Welcome back to Furious Thoughts. Very excited to have a brand new guest with me this week. From my Spotify to my salmon colored dimension, we have someone who is an amazing rapper. They are also a songwriter and singer. They're also a voice acting performer. Not only do they make addictive music, they also voiced the best character and critically acclaimed video game Dispatch. So please everyone welcome and make space for the one and only Thought Squad.
Thought Squad
It's me.
Kid Fury
It is indeed.
Thought Squad
Hello. Hello. I'm so excited to be here.
Kid Fury
I'm so excited to have you.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
You look way better than me, but that's fine. I'm not taking it personally.
Thought Squad
You're actually in like the Thought Squad colors. I tried. Yes, yes. Oh, I hear that. Translate.
Kid Fury
Yes. I was like, let me try and get this together. I really want to. To represent here. But then I came and I was like, she got on a T shirt and jeans and white shoes. Did she try? You know what I mean? I did the best I could.
Thought Squad
It's perfect. It goes with the aesthetic.
Kid Fury
Absolutely. So what, Flint, Michigan, is that where you're from?
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
I heard you came all the way out here for this.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
Why did you do something so responsible?
Thought Squad
So I have been listening to you for. Since 2017. I actually started listening to the read because I was living in New Hampshire because I'm stupid and I was. So I went to school to be an actor. So I got an acting job in New Hampshire. Worst time of my life. And I don't know where that is. The depression and the sad. Like I was sitting in the shower. Sad, like that's the category of sad. And so I would play the reed, like just all day. So That I didn't have to hear my own thoughts. I feel you, you know, and so when my manager reached out work and you said yes, and I was like,
Kid Fury
you know, that exist.
Thought Squad
I was like. I'm like, okay, okay. Act like you've been somewhere. Act like, you know, like you're a regular person. Don't act too parasocial. Because I was like, in my head, I was like. Because they always talk about. They hate when people are, like, too excited to see them. So I'm just going to act.
Kid Fury
It's just regular.
Thought Squad
Oh, yeah.
Kid Fury
Crystal is fine with it.
Thought Squad
Okay. So I'm like, I'm just going to be very calm. So we actually. We drove out here. Oh, wow. Yeah, we. We hopped in the car.
Kid Fury
I don't deserve that. There's no reason to do everything.
Thought Squad
We were going to fly. But the prices, girl,
Kid Fury
I didn't mean to interrupt.
Thought Squad
No, that's okay. No, these prices were. I'm like, for Spirit. For Mrs. Spirit.
Kid Fury
You want my firstborn.
Thought Squad
Like, it didn't make no damn sense. And here's the thing. No, I'm not going to go into my thoughts on spirit because they have not paid me to give the thoughts. But we are often on a spirit flight. And so I was like. So we were like, we can either drive or we can spend $4,000. And so what we ended up doing, we turned into, like a vacation room. Yeah. So we came out here, we saw people, the developers from the video game. We went out to dinner. We went to the Comedy Store. We. Yesterday I had an audition, and my agent is in Los Angeles, so we went to do that. We went to Venice Beach. We got married in Venice. Oh, on this beach? Yeah. Well, we got married on Santa Monica. They told us that those are two different sands. And so we. We just turned it into, like a little vacation thing that just has the added bonus of being on this podcast.
Kid Fury
I'm glad to hear that the drive out here was for more than just this raggedy ghetto ass podcast. You're really just getting, you know, fruits of the city while you're here. Why is it that everyone from Michigan is so cool and funny? All the black people?
Thought Squad
I think the answer is trauma. And. And the cold. And the D. And the D. Trauma, the cold, the D. And we're surrounded by great Lakes. So since we're surrounded by greatness, we have to be great. And I think that's why, because, yeah, all the black people of Michigan are truly their own special breed of stupid. But not stupid like you. So stupid like it's our own special. I'm happy to be from there.
Kid Fury
That's why we connect so much. Black people from Florida is the same thing. And we all love Trina because.
Thought Squad
And we all love Train.
Kid Fury
It's true.
Thought Squad
Because when you're from Michigan, like, I'm be like, yes, I am from Flint. Flint. Because most of most of Florida, most of Michigan, they next is Scarlet. Okay. And so I am from Flint. Or people be like, I am from Detroit, not any of these surrounding places like that. It's very similar with. With you and Miami.
Kid Fury
Thank you very much. So where did you get. I want to talk about your name. Thought Squad. Yeah, why?
Thought Squad
So I tell people my name is Squad. I am one person. But if you're down with the music and down with movement, you can be in the squad work. And it actually came because my husband over there, who I affectionately on stage call white man.
Kid Fury
That's what he is.
Thought Squad
Yes, that is what he is. I'll be like, play the song, White man. And then you play the song. If you don't play the song, then everybody gets to see a race war that day. And so win.
Kid Fury
Win.
Thought Squad
We. He always made music. He was working at this studio before COVID He was working at this studio that like Eminem came out of there, Funkadelic came out of there, Clark Sisters recorded there. Anything that's not Motown and Big from Detroit has gone through studio at some point. And so I was like, make me a city girl. I want to. I want to be a one hit wonder. I just want one good song to just make me go viral and I can live my life. And he was like, girl, no, this is my real job. What the. No. And so then CO came. I was like, you ain't got nothing else to do? Ain't got nothing else to do. So we made a few songs, A few dumb songs. I was like, what do you even call this? And his friend group, like text chat him and the boys was called Thought Swat. I was like, that sounds dumb. Let's do it. And so it went from this dumb thing to this real thing in like a matter of months. And so now here I am fighting and squatting.
Kid Fury
I love. And also in all caps.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
I always wonder what. What allows an artist or inspires them to. To shift the caps around. Some people do like all lowercase, maybe with a period at the end. So like, what was decision for you to make it all caps? Is it like I'm supposed to say, like Thought Squad? Like, is it like a way that you say It.
Thought Squad
I think that the all caps was first just like a way to stand out, but also, it's like it's in your face. Like, we are here. I am right here, and you can't get around me. You can't pretend like you didn't see it. It's like ta squad right here, right now.
Kid Fury
Yes. Loud in person.
Thought Squad
Yes, exactly.
Kid Fury
Love it. Okay, I want to talk about your music. I want to admit that I was quite pleased to hear that you wanted to be on the program. I heard your music quite a while ago. My intro to you was. My intro to you was abandoned him.
Thought Squad
Oh, yay.
Kid Fury
And I just turned this track up to 10 and let it play again. That boy is not your friend. You can't abandon him. If anybody knows anything about me, abandoning men is just my favorite thing to do. Talk about perpetuate fund. So I had an immediate connection with that record. You know what I'm saying? Feet to the fart to the far.
Thought Squad
Yay to the garbage.
Kid Fury
That boy act up. My fucking understanding awareness, my vision. Oh, great aunt ain't seen that.
Thought Squad
Yes, absolutely.
Kid Fury
What are, like, your musical inspirations? Because you're so. I mean, I feel like sometimes it's kind of like, cliche to say, oh, you're so unique, but, like, you're. Your music is genuinely one of a kind. Nobody else is making it. What inspires you?
Thought Squad
What inspires me? Definitely. You already know Missy Elliot. Top of the list, mother of goats, drag queens in general. Very inspirational. Funkadelic, Parliament. Very, like, Detroit funky sound.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Thought Squad
Clowns like the art of clowning. Definitely.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Thought Squad
People say, how do you come up with these lyrics? How do I like trauma? 100%.
Kid Fury
Hoes depressed.
Thought Squad
Yes. Hoes depressed.
Kid Fury
Great piece of music.
Thought Squad
Just anybody who's been like, carving their own lane, I take note and I'm like, okay, this is fantastic. Like, there's so many little artists that I follow. Like, and not little. Like, you're so cute. You get started now. Like, no, it's like they just haven't gotten their shine yet. That I'm like, this is crazy. Crazy. Like, how did you even make this happen? Stuff like that. So, yeah, I would say those are, like, now, like, more recently. Definitely a Dochi. Definitely a Duran Bernard. Like, just people who are like, this is the way I want to make my art. And I know nobody else is doing it like that. And that doesn't scare me.
Kid Fury
Yeah, that's beautiful because I was saying that to just 10 when he was here not long ago. Like, that's a part of the thing that really allows the people who view you and listen to be like, oh, let me go be me on my own terms. Because this person does. And they're celebrated for it. They're doing it so well, even when we're not so sure. I mean, you could be like a Babbage performer who's never nervous. But most of us, when it comes to our art and things we create, are, you know, sometimes anxious about how people are going to receive it. So you gotta imagine the people that you do touch. Like, I don't know if anybody would care or see this, whatever. So you really empower people in that way. Plus, the music is fun and addictive and you shit on men all of the time.
Thought Squad
I do. I really do.
Kid Fury
I call it ppp.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
Powerful pieces of poetry. Yes, that's you. I also noticed that on your social media platforms, you're very great at it, by the way. I'm very terrible, but I noticed, like, a lot of footage with you and your adorable grandma.
Thought Squad
Yeah.
Kid Fury
How do you convince her to do the hood rat stuff with you that she does? And why does she say yes?
Thought Squad
Okay. I don't know why she says yes. So we made pound cake and we were like, oh, it'd be fun. Get grandma in the video in the kitchen. We thought it was just going to be a one time thing. Pound cake is what let me quit my job at that nonprofit. I hate it.
Kid Fury
Like, great song.
Thought Squad
Like, the people love that little old lady. And she loved it. She loved it. At first I was like, is she going to hate it? Because she was just kind of just sitting in her chair, you know, just being a little grouchy old white woman. And she'll now she's like, are we doing a video? Are we gonna do a. Are we gonna do a picture? Call it a picture. Are we gonna do a picture today, one of your pictures? And then if we go a long time not making them, she's just, I guess grandma's not in the video. I'm like, come on, Grandma, let's. Come on, get your ski mask, girl. Let's do something.
Kid Fury
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I've seen the comments. They're very much like, ugh, happy to have her back. Yes. And I get it. Yes, I get it. You're putting a balaclava on grandma's face and rapping about how only whack niggas don't lick booty halls. Yeah. That is an amazing and true piece of a lyric.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
Fantastic.
Thought Squad
I am just here to speak the truth. Arab Belafonte told me this is okay. I was about to be very hyperbolic. But in real life, Gary Belafonte told me because in the past life I was a youth poet. But like not in a. Not in the back. I was youth poet. So it's cool when the youth do it. Yeah, when 50 year old men do it. I'm like, why are we here? But anyways, make a long story short, my youth poetry team was invited to this thing Harry Belafonte was doing. And he told me artists are the gatekeepers of truth because that's what Martin Luther King Jr. Told him. And so, well, I was about to relate that to only Whack n Don't lick Booty hole. But you know, it's also the truth.
Kid Fury
I didn't hear anything out of Republic there. I just heard facts.
Thought Squad
Facts and truthness.
Kid Fury
This leads me to a perfect segue, which is that you have a very clear sense of humor and it just kind of reverberates through pretty much everything that you make from your music itself to the clips that you make. They're just so funny. I'm always excited to see what you're gonna come up with next in these clips because the song is going to be delightful and the footage is like, how do you incorporate your humor into your art? Or do you even consider it? Or just.
Thought Squad
Oh, I love, love, love making references and punch lines. Some people are like, no, I need to be hard all the time. But like, I'm the person when like there's serious stuff going on. Like, perfect example, my friend got in a whole car accident. The car flipped over three times. She was fine. This was a few years ago. She's fine, everything's fine. But she called me because this is when we were in Atlanta and so she didn't have nobody else to call, so she called me. I left Workout Rush over there. I'm like, girl, why you in the car flipping? Why are you doing a kick flip on the car, girl? And she's like, oh, it hurt, the laugh. Like, that's me. I'm always trying to find a joke in a thing because life is too this, this speck of a planet that we are on. There's too much going on where like I got to laugh. I gotta find some humor in it somewhere. So going from when I started, I wanted to make. When I wanted to do my one hit wonder, I wanted to make a Jesus is the one Zack Fox. Like, I was like, what is that version of that?
Kid Fury
Okay.
Thought Squad
And then it's kind of morphed into. Now I have something to say. But I keep that sense of humor in it, because if we can't laugh at, like, what's going on in the world or whatever, we're gonna be miserable.
Kid Fury
Sometimes it's all we got.
Thought Squad
Yeah. Literally. Literally, yes.
Kid Fury
And laughter is medicine. Like, when you get flipped over and backflip. Whatever the Raven Simone song was called, when you do all of that in your car. I personally would want my homie to come over and make me laugh.
Thought Squad
Yeah.
Kid Fury
I can't stand it. I'm in bed resting it.
Thought Squad
Honey, can I get you anything? My dad and I have this joke where he keeps. My dad is, like, almost 70, and he's like, yeah, I'm gonna get. I'm get my hair locked up. I'm get my hair locked up. My mom is like, absolutely. Now. I was like, no, I'm gonna get you a man wig, dad. And let me tell you something. This man decided one day, two strokes is what he wanted to have. And I was like, not just one dad, too. He's fine. Everything's fine. And what. I brought him in the hospital. You know, people bring flowers and stuff. I brought him the man wig. I made him on a wig head. And I was like, I put this right here next to. To the get well card so you can have something to look at, so you can be. You can. You can feel encouraged.
Kid Fury
And what was the response?
Thought Squad
Oh, he loved it. My mom said, okay, girl. But my dad.
Kid Fury
It's called a support system.
Thought Squad
It is. It's called a support system.
Kid Fury
Why will you never pay Joe Biden back?
Thought Squad
I'm not paying Joe Biden back because I have so many student loans. And legally, on the record, I'm looking at all the cameras. On the record, I can't pay Joe Biden back because he's not the president. You know, these student loans that I have, those came during the Biden era. And so I. I physically and literally can't pay him back. Paying other. Paying them back in general in life. That's up to Jesus. Yeah, Jesus, If. If the Lord says, girl, give the government their money back, then I'll be like, okay, Jesus. But he hasn't spoken to me in that.
Kid Fury
I don't think he's gonna say that.
Thought Squad
I don't think so. But, you know, I just try to follow what the Lord God spoke, you know?
Kid Fury
And he yet rose up just now.
Thought Squad
He sure did.
Kid Fury
He did. Yet alive, my God, today. Is it true you speak multiple languages?
Thought Squad
Yeah. So I have a degree in French, my bachelor's Degree. I have a dual degree in theater and French. When I was in middle school, my middle school was my high school, and they changed it to where you have to take a foreign language. Oh, my God.
Kid Fury
Yeah, my school did that, too.
Thought Squad
Yeah. From eighth grade until I graduated, I took French, and I was like, well, I guess keep going. So I can read French very well. I can translate what's on a page very well. If you wanted to have a conversation with me, I would be so slow. I would be like, bonjour, Je ma pel. Fat squad. Common. Tallez vous.
Kid Fury
Like, I know. Croissant, croissant, croissant. I can't even do that. It's really ridiculous. So I'm still impressed. I speak English, and I can speak Jamaican patois, which is just English.
Thought Squad
Yeah. But that's still a language.
Kid Fury
Thank you. I agree.
Thought Squad
Because, like, here's my. If. If. If I hear some patois and they going too fast, I can't use my context clues. But if I hear some patois and it's a little slow, maybe two old people is talking, I'll be like, okay, I know. I know what's going on. I know what's going on. But, like, people don't understand that. Like, Creole patois, Aave, that is its own language. On my. When I was trying to be an actor, I put on my languages, African American, vernacular English, because there's people out here trying to do it. Okay.
Kid Fury
They just say it's TikTok speech now or Gen Z speech. And I'm like, sometimes I think about that one scene in one of those Twilight movies where Dakota Fanning threw a baby in a fire, and I'm like, what are the options there, you know? Yeah. You have impeccable and delightful style and fashion sense as we see here today. I told you I tried to impress you with, like, brightness and fun and delight. I tried. I don't think I succeeded. These are denim jeans and dirty white shoes and a T shirt. But, you know that my heart was in the right place. You look beautiful. What? Can you tell me some of your fashion inspirations? I think you said clowns.
Thought Squad
Yes. Literally clowns. What's interesting. So in this time in my life and in music, I'm doing almost like a reclamation. Th squad has really allowed me to learn myself and learn and love myself as I am and not be like, oh, I'm like this. But everybody out, like, masking it in a way. And so I'm. I like school uniform. Preppy. Very Claire and Dion, like, Claire Sharon Dion. My reference is very Sharon Dion. Because in school when they made us do, like, uniforms and stuff, I was like this, because they all sucked. So I'm like, how do I flip that and do a reclamation of it? So I was like, I like this preppy style, but I want it to be bright and colorful and just like, here I am. Like, like I said drag queens. There's a place in Detroit called Gigi's, and that's, like, that's my favorite drag bar to go to. Like, that is my place. And like, they just, like, you see drag on Drag Race, and you think it's not attainable, but then you go to Gigi's and it's like, oh, they're doing. You know what I mean? Like, just like your local queen is building. There's one. There's one girl, Latifah. She has some shoes, and then her shoes were the exact same pattern as the rest of the dress. And I was like, what came first, the shoes or the dress?
Kid Fury
Right? And you'll never know.
Thought Squad
And you'll never know. So, like, yeah, I'd say those are. Those are where my inspirations come from, for sure.
Kid Fury
That's fire. I would also agree that the drag girlies outside of the program will gag you, because I think that a lot of people might assume when you make it on Drag Race, you're the best of the best. And usually you are obviously good enough. But it's still an audition process, and they're still creating a show. I saw one time, I can't remember the name of the club in downtown Miami. Before I moved, there was a drag show there, and this bitch came out with two dancers. I wish I could remember her name. And she poured something around the edge of the stage, some liquid, and I didn't know what it was. Started doing her number, pulled out a lighter, and the whole front of the stage caught on fire. And I turned to my homegirl who was DJing, and I was like, are they allowed to do that? We're inside. Did they get like that indoors? The manager approved, I guess. It's hard.
Thought Squad
It's very.
Kid Fury
I ain't seen a bitch set on fire or Drag Race.
Thought Squad
Funny. You know what? RuPaul, oil baron RuPaul, why you always talking about they pussy on fire? Why the stage not on fire? They gonna cut this out. And that's funny to me.
Kid Fury
No, we won't. Um, can you tell me something in fashion wise, style wise, that you are
Thought Squad
tired of seeing something in fashion, the nonchalant style, where, like, People put in a whole lot of effort to look like they didn't put in any effort. That grabs my goat so much.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Thought Squad
Because I'm like, why not just put in all the effort and look like you put in some effort. Like if that's truly how you want to look, if that's truly like you like the laid back, you know, that's fine. But if it's like, oh, I'm doing this because I don't want to. The people, people are so afraid of looking cringe. And the way you look cringe is by putting effort into things. Like friend, why your shirt wrinkly at the clerk you at at the club. You trying to attract pussy and your shirt.
Kid Fury
Maybe I have to bring back the days of them. Like oversized tacky button downs. Would go to a club with like a Macy's button down because they would starch them shits and press them.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
Coming to the club. Sharp. What happened to that? I think we are phasing out of this fashion trend where the girls want to wear like trash bags and stuff like that.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
Because like Missy already did that. She did it way better than all of you.
Thought Squad
Yeah, yeah.
Kid Fury
Put up, you know, put on clothes. What is something in fashion and style that you are a big fan of?
Thought Squad
Big fan of. When it comes to makeup, like the dragification of everyday life. I, oh, I love just going to the store and there's a lady with full lashes, full glam, big lip blush just done up just to go to the store.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Thought Squad
I, I think that that that influence is like as it more seeps into the mainstream. I love to see it because it's like I know where that came from. It came from the girlies. Yeah.
Kid Fury
And honestly, I am always a fan of, I don't know, walking through Ralph's and Here is this 7 year old woman with an unreasonably tight leopard prince.
Thought Squad
Yes, I am here. I am here for old quote unquote old people not looking like the golden girls all the time.
Kid Fury
Why not?
Thought Squad
Why not? If you want to be 76 with some pigtails, put them pigtails in your hair, Gladys. Like I think that is fan because that's going to be me. I don't give a F that I know when I get old I'm going to be looking just like this, like
Kid Fury
saying and fight me. What are you going to do about it?
Thought Squad
What are you going to do about it? I remember when the towers fell. There's nothing you can tell me.
Kid Fury
Like, yeah, what do you, do you have any wig opinions what makes a good or a bad wig?
Thought Squad
I love a synthetic wig. I love synthetic. Tell the children, because I be sure I. When I got it, it'd be the man. I tried getting me a little human hair and stuff like that. I'm brushing and brushing and trying it. Synthetic hair. You hear synthetic hair. You set it and forget it. I love synthetic hair. I love when you. The hair is orange and green. And I'm not trying to blend that. Girl, we know that's not your hair. If you got a little bit of lace showing, that's fine. I'm. I'm not. I had a silver wig on. Silver, Like, Like a quarter silver wig on for my friend's baby shower because I'm too much. And my other friend was like, girl, you know, you got to. You can't be looking like. I was like, I grew up with these. I know these people 25 years. They know my hair ain't silver. They know it's not a wig.
Kid Fury
Why do they have to prove anything?
Thought Squad
My wig opinions is let wigs look like wigs.
Kid Fury
Cause they do. And that's fine.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
As long as you don't have, like, a bright colored wig with the, like, the edges of it where it looked like. You know, when you was a kid, you would put like, a penny under some paper and then take a crayon and go like this.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
That has to stop.
Thought Squad
Yes, yes, that's very true. But that's because they're trying so hard to make it not look that you go the other way.
Kid Fury
Right?
Thought Squad
Yes, 100%.
Kid Fury
I believe you call your fandom Lemon Square Squad.
Thought Squad
Yeah.
Kid Fury
Where did that come from?
Thought Squad
That came from when grandma got involved. We at. Okay, so everybody in my house. Narrow diversion. And so at the same time as pound cake was coming up, we were just like, we were just making lemon squares every single day. It was a fun thing to do with Grandma. She knew how to make them real good. And we were just like. We make them eat them up. Make them eat them up. So we started putting them in the videos because we just kept having them. And so there was one time in the video, she was holding. She was holding the lemon squares. And then they were like, lemon Square Squad will ride for Grandma. The Lemon Square Squad is here for Grandma. Those are really Grandma's fans. If we. If you really think about it, those are grandma's fans.
Kid Fury
You might as well take her on tour for.
Thought Squad
If I could, I would. Let me tell you something about that old lady. She would need her own bus and two assistants. Not to home help a two assistant.
Kid Fury
That's right.
Thought Squad
Because let me every once in a while she act like we're not doing right by her because we eating pizza and she won't steak. And I'm like, grandma, who got steak money? Not us. We do not. We got, you know, the video game got me a little steak money, but. And so she's like, I'm going to call the people. I'm like, call them. Because what's going to happen is they're going to come here, see how great you're treated. They're going to bring another lady and they're gonna be like, okay, here's. Here's Chandra and she's your sister now. Bye. The people are gonna bring more people because she's. She's just treated so well. But like, when I tell you that is a high maintenance little old woman's.
Kid Fury
And so I think you earn it when you get to a certain place.
Thought Squad
Yes, yes. Everything that she's been through and she tells us stories and I'm like, and you just kept living.
Kid Fury
Now imagine what we're gonna be able to do.
Thought Squad
Okay. I'm gonna be able to levitate. I know it. I'm gonna figure it out. When I get old and have just surpassed all of whatever's happening here, I'm gonna be levitating.
Kid Fury
I just heard of the term Starseed.
Thought Squad
No one is not.
Kid Fury
And I think that that's what I am. It's some weird cuckoo bird woo woo shit where people are like, oh, we're of the stars. And. And that's why we don't feel like we fit in anywhere on the planet. And we're also, like, connected to the earth and possibly astrology. It's because we have some sort of connection to the cosmos and that's why we were sent here by the stars.
Thought Squad
Yep.
Kid Fury
And I was like, yeah, sure, Me, I believe. Whatever. At this point, I just want to call myself anything other than an earthling.
Thought Squad
Very true.
Kid Fury
It's pretty trash. You'll be touring this year with Queen Herbie.
Thought Squad
Yeah.
Kid Fury
What are you looking forward to in the touring?
Thought Squad
In the touring. What am I looking forward to? I am looking forward to. And this sounds so cliche, but I do meet and greets that are free. And so I am excited to look in people's faces and say, thank you so much. Because what I say at the show is like, you know, celebrities, like, I couldn't do it without the fans. I was like, no, if y' all didn't buy no tickets, I couldn't Put gas in the car to. To get to wherever. San Diego or wherever, you know. So, like, I love that. I love hearing stories. I. This is. I love it when a drunk white woman come up to me and say, listen, I. I love. I love you. And this is my sister. She didn't even know who you were. And her sister. Her sister. Like, I didn't know who you are. It's like she's a fan now because I told her, I said, we're going to see my. And so that's like my favorite thing on tour. But what I'm really excited for, this is like, the biggest tour I've ever done. We did two tours last year, and those were like, maybe at most 300 people, usually about 150. And so now we're going to like 3,000 people.
Kid Fury
Nice. Yeah.
Thought Squad
These are big venues, and so I'm very excited to. This sounds bad. Stunt on hoes. Growing up viciously bullied. And. And no matter what I did, my brain could not be like, okay, stop dressing like this so that people won't talk about you today. Like, I just. I. I had to be me.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Thought Squad
And so the quote unquote vindication, but also, I don't want it to be like, well, I knew I was. But it's like the. Yes. The affirmation of it all. Like, this is where I'm supposed to be. This is real. This is me. I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.
Kid Fury
And I don't think anything sounds bad about that. I actually set weekly reminders for myself to stun on hoes because you have to, you know, you have to invest in that part of yourself and the things that you create. You know what I'm saying? You have reaped the benefits of host hunting.
Thought Squad
Yes. So, yes.
Kid Fury
Welcome that with. With open arms. What would be on your writer?
Thought Squad
My writer? Martinelli's juice. I don't. I don't drink alcohols. Neither of us do.
Kid Fury
Taking a break?
Thought Squad
Yes. Yes. Get. Get into Martinelli. They have so many flavor.
Kid Fury
I been got.
Thought Squad
Oh, I'm sorry. Excuse me.
Kid Fury
Martin. Lady. I'm Martinelli's baby. Yeah. That's apple juice on the market.
Thought Squad
Martinelli's is on the rider now. Clean showers on the rider. Because when I was doing, like, the smaller venues, you know, I'm getting ready in the bathroom. I see a girl. Girl coming. Oh, my God, I'm so excited. Thank you. I grab one eyebrow on. Give me a second. But like, I need a shower. That is clean.
Kid Fury
That is clean. Yeah.
Thought Squad
What Else is on the rider. Yeah. A dressing room section area. Because again, I'm just out here with the public. Yeah. I think Martinelli's is the top. I haven't. I haven't gotten into my diva era where it's like only blue M M's yet, but I gotta have Martinelli's in my life.
Kid Fury
That has always been diabolical. Only this specific color of M M's
Thought Squad
you know what it comes from. And I learned this a long time ago. So I ain't got no facts or. Or sources. But it's to make sure that they read the whole writer. Because a lot of the writer is like, technical stuff that needs to happen, like what type of microphone, how it. What type of hookups and stuff like that. So if you say only blue Eminem and they just got the assorted thing, you know, that they didn't read that writer. And I forgot. I learned that years ago. I forget who. Who started it, but.
Kid Fury
Yeah, that sounds very valid.
Thought Squad
Yeah.
Kid Fury
But I would still be the person who comes up and be like, Ms. Streisand. I read the goddamn. Like I read the writer. I'm not picking out all these goddamn M and Ms. For you. Okay. So let me telling you to your face. Let that be an example. Clearly I read it.
Thought Squad
Love you. Love you to death. Everything else is good. Everything. This was unreasonable.
Kid Fury
Yeah. And clearly I read it because I'm talking to you about it.
Thought Squad
Yes,
Kid Fury
I want to talk to you about Dispatch.
Thought Squad
Okay. Yeah.
Kid Fury
First of all, I'm a gamer. I'm a nerd. I'm a Nick. Dispatch was announced. I was already excited. I loved the Wolf Among Us. I've played a lot of these games. Love superheroes. I played the demo. Loved the demo. Of course. Favorite character. Prism. This was before I knew that you were voicing her. And then I don't think you. What episode did Pound Cake play at the end?
Thought Squad
Episode two.
Kid Fury
Okay. So that is when the episode ended. And I heard it. And I was like, wait, wait a minute. I was so excited. I felt like when I saw just 10 in the trailer for Is God Is. There's just something about not even having, like, met you, not even knowing that you knew who I was. I felt excited and proud because I'm like, look at us just permeating through all of the damn spaces and things like this on top of it. I already loved this character. I just. I was a huge fan. So I want to know how that came about. How did you get into a video game?
Thought Squad
So the main. I don't know what his. What his real job title. The main guy, his name is Pierre Charette, and he was wolf among us, was a telltale man. He just sent us, or he had his people send us an email. He said that he was just scrolling. He was already a thought squad fan on the Internet and was like, I wonder if she does acting now. We got this email and was like, hey, you know, we're making a video game and we have a character. I was like, these Nigerian princes are getting so good. Like, this English is impeccable. You haven't even said anything about the gold yet. And then we. We looked more into it. It's like, oh, this is legit. And so we had a couple zoom meetings. And then I was going to be out here in LA for another thing. So I was like, oh, can we do the audition this time? We did. And I just turned into the first voice session. Like, it. They found me. I did not find them. Like, voice acting wasn't even on my ra Like I told you. I was for the stage Broadway, you know, And I love. I love this world, this. This voice act. Because I. I'm a cartoon person. I wrote. What is it called? Papers in history class when they let us, like, kind of do what we want. It was about, like, cartoons. Like cartoons of the 1920s and, you know, so being able to be in this, it blew my mind just seeing how everything works. And because we recorded everything else in Michigan, so going back and forth and is fantastic.
Kid Fury
I noticed that Prism has a couple things in common with you. It says she's from Flint, Michigan, pop star. How much of those traits and those parts of her were pulled directly from. Because it feels like a lot of Prism was just kind of inspired by you.
Thought Squad
Yeah. I think that it became. This is not on. It's on the record, but it's not like nobody said this out loud. This is my inferences. I think that they had the Prism character in mind, and then as I put more personality into it, they fed off of that for more of the character. So, of course, the Flint, Michigan thing, she was already a pop star when they came to me. But, like, her personality, her quirks and the kinds of things that she says, I think, like, from what I was bringing, it allowed us to, like, build that character further.
Kid Fury
Yeah. Because for those of you who don't know, Dispatch is a video game that's told. It's an episodic sort of superhero sitcom where you play a dispatcher for superheroes. And one of the mechanics, when you're Sending out the heroes and stuff. They usually will say, like, something before they go do their thing. And Prism has all of these lines that would make me crack up laughing out loud, even if it was just, like, a little short thing. And again, I played the demo. I played the first episode, and this was before I knew it was you. So then when I knew it was you, I was like, okay, this makes all the sense in the world. She was already my favorite work. The whole. The powers light manipulation.
Thought Squad
Listen, I. Cause I didn't know what she was really working with until, you know, because they did a Tom Holland on me. I didn't know nothing that was going on until I saw it and I was playing it, and so I was like, ooh, wait a minute. I'm getting it. I'm saving the day. She's that girl.
Kid Fury
Yeah. All the fight scenes and everything. Ugh. I need all of the spinoffs, me. I need the comics. And when the sequel comes along, put it in a good word for me. I really want to be in dispatch, too.
Thought Squad
Okay, I got you. I'll fix them right now.
Kid Fury
What's your love life like on the road, being marriaged and young and hot?
Thought Squad
My love life on the road, that's when we say that's when we feel the most married, because we just have to. We don't got no team. We just got an assistant. And then my cousin is a very good photographer, so he coming along, too.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Thought Squad
But this. This past tours, we just MIA my husband in the car driving across America, and that's when we get to sit down and just talk to each other, because ain't nothing else to do in the car. So I'd say, like, that's. That. That's when we're the most married, is when we're at home and, oh, we got to go to the studio and we got to record this. We got to get the music video done. That's when it's like, my love, it's like, you're. You're so far away, but you're so close. Yeah, but when we're on the road, it's very. We got married in 2024 on Venice beach, like I said before, or Santa Monica. And ever since then, because, like, when we got married, then some more things just started, like, popping, popping more, popping more, popping more. And so there's nobody in this world. I. I would not be. I literally would not be doing this if my husband wasn't who my husband was. If I made two stupider decisions in my life, I would still Be at the non profit that I hate. And so in our vows, which I came off the dome with it, I said something about life is like all these different puzzles and you know, puzzles, they're all cut the same. So like a piece might fit, but it, it don't go with the whole picture.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Thought Squad
And so being with my husband, it's like, oh, this piece fits. And it's creating this whole picture.
Kid Fury
That's a beautiful analogy. And it's also very powerful coming from someone who makes so many songs about fuck niggas and how to destroy them.
Thought Squad
Because I've been there. Yeah, I've been there and now. And I'm just going from my heart, I'm going from stories people have told me because the. I happen to find somebody who, who gives a fuck about life and me and stuff like that. But it's like, I know people who four times in a row get cheated on. And I'm like, it's not you, it's not you. Because why are niggas like this?
Kid Fury
I say that. I've said this a few times. I'll probably continue to say it. Um, I think women in femmes should be allowed to shoot at least one man a year, you know? Yeah.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
Like, if I were stupid enough to run for office of some kind, I would be on my.
Thought Squad
Yes. Yes.
Kid Fury
What are some things that are coming next for you in the art game? New music. Yeah, new things.
Thought Squad
We have an album that's going to come out this year.
Kid Fury
I know, that's right.
Thought Squad
We were saying may, but we might push it back because there's some features we want to get on it that would just take it to the, like the next height. Yeah. So that album and each song on the album is going to have a music video work. And we do the music videos. Like we don't hire out for anything. I've been writing the, the treatments for them and the scripts and all that stuff. And Ben, that's the white man, he'll. He shoots it, he edits it, he color grades it, like all that stuff,
Kid Fury
like very white name.
Thought Squad
Ben. Yes. Benjamin. Oh, I was gonna say his whole name. And I was like, shouldn't do that for people to look at. Like. Yeah,
Kid Fury
so can you. If. Okay, I wanna know about these collabs. Give me like a one word hint of someone you either have on the radar or like a dream collab.
Thought Squad
Okay, Dream collab hint. You know this person. You, you have physically spoken to this person. Not Beyonce. That would be great. But that we're being realistic. In America later on that.
Kid Fury
I know you're talking.
Thought Squad
Yeah.
Kid Fury
Duran.
Thought Squad
Yeah.
Kid Fury
Yeah, that can happen.
Thought Squad
We have a song called you Ain't Gotta Be a your Whole Life. And it's. It's R B song with electric guitars in it. We just had the idea today. Like, we're gonna go out to the beach. I'm gonna give me some silk pajamas, and I'm gonna sing on the beach with the wind blowing like it's 1994. Ha.
Kid Fury
Love it. Screw him. Give it to me backstreets back.
Thought Squad
And so I'm like, we could get Duran on there and be like, you ain't gonna be a bitch. Oh, it would be.
Kid Fury
I feel like Duran would do it.
Thought Squad
Yeah.
Kid Fury
You actually have a lot in common in that you are incredibly talented in the music that you make, but you're also funny as you love. Like Duran loves a kiki. Like he loves a record that is a kiki.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
So I could absolutely, absolutely see that. In fact, I am manifesting it.
Thought Squad
Oh, please do. Manifesting. You know, maybe a kid Fury, like, interlude. Just being like, I hate these men. Can I do it? Look, yes, we can.
Kid Fury
I'm telling you, I want to make a song before I'm in the ground or too old to do it.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
And, girl, knock, knock. Yes, we're there. So, yeah, I was doing a featured record with you. Let me tell you something. You make me very proud. I'm very excited to see where you're going to go from here. You are an absolute light. You're beautiful. The music is so good. It's so like. It's. I keep using the word delightful. Like it. Like ho's depressed, for instance. It's really, really funny. But it also, in my opinion, as someone who takes meds, who's some. Someone who's talked about depression, it is, like, a funny way, I think, to give people comfort in being depressed and. Or, you know, taking meds, you know, being prescribed meds, suggested that they take it, because that's a really, really tough hill for a lot of people. So when you see someone dressed as vibrant as you, who's full tittied out, like, bitch, you can never make me anybody but me.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
Who's making this fun music that's real. It's incredibly powerful. So I'm really excited for you and to see all of, you know, all of the things that you harvest coming forward. And again, bitch, I knew who you were before you got here or before you knew who I was. So thank you for coming on this godforsaken Podcast do ghetto shit with me.
Thought Squad
Thank you for having me. I'm so. I'm gonna be writing this forever. Like, you can't tell me nothing. I was on Kid for your podcast, bitch. And they're gonna be like, who's that? I'm like, bitch, don't worry about it. If you don't know, you don't need to know.
Kid Fury
I'm gonna say, I get the. The.
Thought Squad
I'm here with my sister and. Or my. My husband. He know who you are.
Kid Fury
Your straight husband ain't know who the fuck I was like.
Thought Squad
And then.
Kid Fury
And like, why do. Like, why did you feel like I needed that information? You know who I am.
Thought Squad
Yeah, he know who you are. But I put him out to the read, and now he lets me play it in the house.
Kid Fury
Okay, girl, have a good time in the house. How many husbands are like, oh, yeah, my wife plays you in. In the room. All. All the. Actually, straight men will come up to me sometimes and be like, are you kid Fury? And most of the time, I'm like, his wife or his girlfriend watches this, so I'll fuck with them and be like, who's kissing? No, it's just you kind of look like this is guy that my wife watches on YouTube. Oh, wait, wait, wait, Kid. I've heard that before. They buy it every time because straight men are dumb.
Thought Squad
This is true, because I look at a straight man every single day and I'm like, whoo. Stupid. Bless your heart. I love you to death.
Kid Fury
I don't rage. Oh, I pray for these. I'm like, ma', am, you. You crying over this? That hasn't clipped his nails.
Thought Squad
And here's the thing. I used to be that men. I used to be one of the. I can't lie to your kid Fury. I used to be one of them. Oh, you don't want me. Would you treat me like this? Or you say you don't want a girlfriend, but you would. But if I do this, you're mad at me, man.
Kid Fury
The beauty of age.
Thought Squad
You look at me wrong, I'm not talking for the rest of the day.
Kid Fury
Amen. Let me tell you something. The beauty of age is accepting that you don't have time. Yes, you don't have time and won't make time, and that includes worthless men. Fuck boys. Whatever it is you would like to call them. White women. I'm tired of you saying fuck boys. Please. We're going to keep that one. But I really find it important and impressive. Before you get out of here, though, there's one Thing that I'm asking all my guests at the end of our interview. The interview's dumb conversation.
Thought Squad
Yes.
Kid Fury
And that is if you can make one thing trend worldwide, what would it be?
Thought Squad
If I could make one thing trend worldwide is for people to be more childish. And the way that. I mean that is. I always say, if adults acted the way we tell kids to act, the world would be a better place. Sharing empathy, using kind words, keeping your hands to yourself. Hands to yourself. Like, literally all the stuff that we tell kids, y' all not doing.
Kid Fury
Step into the room with that.
Thought Squad
Cause, like, so I used to be, like, I said I was a substitute. Now I was substitute teacher for, like, seven years after I graduated high school. And what high school? Well, college. And what I. I've done every grade I've done infants to high to high school seniors. And what I've seen is, like, the kids weren't the problem. When, like, working, like, kids gonna be kids. The people. When I'm like, who Chalet is? It's the adults.
Kid Fury
Yes.
Thought Squad
Because it's like, the pettiness and the egos. And because. So when I. Because I looked so young, the way that an adult would talk to me and then they find out I'm grown, they. It all shifts. You know what I mean? So it's like, if you just treated everybody like we tell these kids to, because I don't know when it falls off the. The respect and caring. I know. I know this is going long, but, like, my niece, Toot, her name is Chloe. I call her Toot. I have a friend who was trans, and we all went to the movies together. And my friend said something, and Toot was like, ha. He said this and this. I was like, she. Chloe, okay, she said this and that was it.
Kid Fury
Exactly.
Thought Squad
And it's like. It's not like your mama called you this. Like, why. You know what I mean? So that's what I would make. Tren.
Kid Fury
We get to adult age, a lot of us, and we kind of resent, I guess, like, the generation before us. We kind of almost look back on childhood in a way. And it. I think sometimes it creates this, like, anxiety or just this stuffiness that we then pass down to children, whether it's conscious or, you know, subconscious. And that's why I love what you're saying. This is why I have video games. This is why I have a katana. This is why I have several action figures and toys, because that's what my inner child wants. And it is freeing to come up from a bubble or come out of the bubble every now and then and just be a kid for just a couple hours, couple days out the week. But you really just gagged me. You gagged me. We could tell if we could have adults behave the way that we tell kids to behave. My God.
Thought Squad
Yeah.
Kid Fury
I mean, the president is a giant baby, so, you know. But, like, no one told him how to act at all.
Thought Squad
Listen, we gonna. Let me tell you something. Let me tell y' all something about grandma. She can't stand doctor work. She hate that man with a passion in her very be. She'll be like, they gonna come take this old lady. She'll be like. Like, we have to turn off the news in the house. Like that. Like, girl, you are strictly Hallmark from now on. Because she gets so mad, and she'll be like, I just can't stand that.
Kid Fury
That trip.
Thought Squad
I should go up to him and just be like, hi, I'm just the old lady. And then, bam. My grandma.
Kid Fury
That is exactly what I want to hear. Yeah, because I guess army grandma, I'd definitely be watching news like, ooh, I hate this bitch so bad. I wish he would just fall down these. God, why he got to go up and down that goddamn jet bridge and just make him trip?
Thought Squad
Listen, I don't know when you will find yourself in Genesee County, Michigan, but you are invited to come meet grandma, and y' all can watch Golden Girls and be mad at the TV together.
Kid Fury
Sounds like my top of Carry on. Thank you so much, Todd Squad.
Thought Squad
Absolutely.
Kid Fury
For sharing this day with me. Yeah, I can't wait to look back on this and be able to. Holy girls. Yeah. Was on my podcast. You sit up here, talk about, oh, I'm gonna ride everybody. Like, oh, I was on. I'm gonna say the exact same about you.
Thought Squad
Thank you.
Kid Fury
Please tell the girls where they can find you.
Thought Squad
Oh, yeah, you can find me. You can Google Thought Squad and it'll come up. No, you can. It does work.
Kid Fury
It does.
Thought Squad
But you can find me. I'm on instagram@blvck.b u n N I E. Because the Instagram didn't want me to use the word thought in my name because they hate me. And then on Tick Tock, it's Thought Squad. Thot Squad with underscores in between all the words.
Kid Fury
Work.
Thought Squad
Yeah. You find me in these streets. You have.
Kid Fury
What's. Like, you have a YouTube or.
Thought Squad
Oh, yeah, YouTube. Just thought Squad on YouTube. Facebook is just Thought Squad. I tried to be on Blue sky, and then I got.
Kid Fury
I think we all did.
Thought Squad
We all did. I was never a Twitter person. I was never tweeting you on Twitch. No, not yet.
Kid Fury
Should check it out.
Thought Squad
We got to get on there.
Kid Fury
Yes.
Thought Squad
I tried to be a streamer during COVID and I was like, oh, depression. I'm on Spotify. I'm on every streaming service under Thought Squad. My only fan I'm getting. One day I'll be able to.
Kid Fury
I'll be on this. The. The. The After Dark, yes. Series. Y', all, please go check out that squad. Go stream the music. Go support this artist. They are one of my faves.
Thought Squad
Go see me on tour.
Kid Fury
Go see them on tour with Queen Herbedom. And yes, abandon him is where I would start. I would maybe follow that up with the pound cake. You have to do. That's my hair. You have to do bum bitch. You have to do host girl. Just go listen to the damn music.
Thought Squad
Listen to all of it.
Kid Fury
Thank you for watching Furious Thought. See you next week.
