a specific breed for a specific person. I am not for everybody, and I don't want to be for everybody. Some of y' all be out here trying to be for everybody, and you wonder why you fall in the cracks like, no, that's an ick. Why are we talking in the club? Don't try to have a conversation with me when literally the freaking volume is literally like 109 decibels. Like, don't do it. Not only are you talking to me, and aloud, you. You're talking to me with liquor breath. And you have the audacity with all these H words. How are you doing
Kid Fury
a clip that said it was this.
Sean Ross
I gagged you.
Kid Fury
You did gag me, bitch.

What?
Kid Fury
Welcome back to Furious Thoughts, everyone. I am Kid Fury, here with another special guest that I'm very, very excited to have. This person is a supermodel, an actor, a dancer, a musician, a ballroom icon. Legend. I don't know the term. Now, they're specific.
Sean Ross
Your mouth. I don't know your words. All of the things they're ready to chop. And they'd be like, girl, she no legend.
Kid Fury
Please. I just listen. Sean Ross is in the building with us today. You're iconic to me, and you're iconic to me. Thank you for joining me today. Thank you.
Sean Ross
Thank you for having me.
Kid Fury
I'm excited to talk about fun cultural things with you today. But before we talk music and trade and bullshit, I just wanted to say that as far as fashion and modeling and Runway and all of those types of things, I just had to give you the flowers in terms of saying that you walked so a lot of the girls could run.
Sean Ross
Thank you.
Kid Fury
You tipped so the girls could toe.
Sean Ross
Thank you.
Kid Fury
You feel what I'm saying? And so I'm actually very honored that you're here with me today.
Sean Ross
Thank you.
Kid Fury
And, you know, we have mutual friends. We bump into each other, shout out, Dustin, right? Hey, Dustin. And you always have great energy. Really, really good, like, a positive vibe to you. And since I've been here, it's been delightful to know that you have this whole realm of sound and music. That you have created and thrived in. And a couple episodes. A couple episodes ago, I had a clip where I was talking about house music and the voices on house music. And you were the people who hit me up and were like, girl, this is deeper. This is deeper than like a minute and a half.
Sean Ross
Yeah.
Kid Fury
So I really wanted to talk about that today. But first I want to ask you where your beginning in, like, really moving forward as a musician. How did that start?
Sean Ross
Well, for me, when it comes to music in general, like, I would say I grew up in it. You know, as cliche as that sounds, like, I'm not gonna sit here and say, like, I was one of those kids that grew up like, oh, yeah, my dad was a drummer and my mom was a violinist. Like, no, like, I grew up in music. You know, it's really weird. Like, growing up as a kid in the Bronx in the 90s, music back then just seemed very different too. It's weird, like, you know, everybody had their own controversy around different types of music that would be played. But when I look back at it, I don't know if it's like an old thing, but music just seemed better then. Even, like, hip hop seemed so much better. Like, I read something today, I think it was like in Billboard magazine saying that, like, hip hop and R and B is basically like plummeting, like in numbers. And dance music is rising. And I don't know what it is. This music back there just is different. But, you know, in my household, my mom and dad, they're both from New York. They met in a club back in the day, I believe, called Bentley's. And my mom used to also go to different clubs like the Limelight, the Tunnel. My mom also used to go to Studio 54. My dad at one point did too. Like, they would sneak in, like, super young, and they would go to all of these different clubs. The Tunnel, Limelight, and later on, the Shelter, Zanzibar, the list goes on. And for me, my parents always played different music in the house. It's weird how, like, even though we had, like, the stations, like Hot 97, 100, 5.1, Z100, like, those type of radio stations, like, we would listen to it in the car, but in the house. My parents were very strict about us hearing world music and artists that you wouldn't automatically hear on, like, you know, top 40.
Kid Fury
Okay.
Sean Ross
So my mom would be playing, I don't know, Sade, and then my dad would be playing Everything but the girl and then followed by, like, Donny Hathaway. And Phyllis Hyman. And then my mom would counter that with some Jeanne. Yeah, like, you know, it would go on even down to Barry Manilow, Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler. We had a very, very well rounded sound in my house. The only time that I learned about, like, pop culture music was when my parents would leave and either my brother and my sister were both watching 106 in park or my cousin would be watching MTV. You know, at the time of the era of, like, Kelis coming out with. What was the song that she had? I hate you so much right now. Yes, that was a good era, by the way.
Kid Fury
Caught out there.
Sean Ross
Caught out there.
Kid Fury
That one was gonna drag me, bitch.
Sean Ross
Yes, that was a really good era. But that's how, like, music for me, how it just kind of, like, shaped me. And I remember, like, for me, my first physical CDs that I bought when I was younger, my mom gave me money. I think it was for, like my birthday. And I remember I went back then. I don't know if y' all remember, there was a store called the Wiz. And the Wiz was a record store. I mean, you had the Wiz, you had PC Richards. You could buy all these different places, like wood with CDs. But the Wiz was close to my house and I got three CDs. And I will never forget, the CDs that I got were share Believe. She came out with the song Believe. Eiffel65. You remember that song I'm Blue Dabba.
Kid Fury
Yes. I forgot the name of it.
Sean Ross
I just liked the song. And then I got like an album. I think it was Bewitch. You remember the girl group Bewitch?
Kid Fury
Yes, absolutely.
Sean Ross
And so that started my era of buying CDs. And then at the time in New York City, there was also a record store called Tower Records. So my mother and father, they would always get like CDs and like vinyls. My father had one of those, like 300 CD disc changers.
Kid Fury
Same.
Sean Ross
Okay, can we bring those back when you have to, like, type it in with the computer?
Kid Fury
Loved those.
Sean Ross
He had that. And they would always go between these two stores. It would either be Tower Records or J and R Music World. And I would go on my mom every Friday after work. You know, she worked in the World Trade Center. She would always give me like a paper with, like a list of CDs. She would give me like a hundred dollars and be like, hey, I want you to go in and get me these CDs from Tower Records. She Would double park. She would stay in the car.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Yeah.
Sean Ross
And then I would get, like, $20. And so I would think to myself. Cause back then, CDs were like, what, 15.99? 1999. Yeah, for one.
Kid Fury
Right.
Sean Ross
So, yes, of course, I bought popular albums like NSync, Britney Spears, Christina Milian, Amerie. But then I started to, like, venture off. One time, she told me, we were listening to CD 101.9, and there was this artist by the name of Aya. And she had an album called Strange Flower. And she had a song called. What was it called again? Don't Go Get Down, Make It Far Uptown. Uptown. So Ayah had a song called Uptown. It was on the radio on CD 101.9. And my mom was like, oh, my God, this is so dope. And, you know, at the ending of the song, they were like. And that was Uptown by Aya. So we went that day, and she had all these things. And then Aya was in, like, a different section, like a world dance section. And I saw the CDs there were much cheaper. They were like 5.99, 7.99. So then I thought to myself, I was like, okay, do I get one album or do I, like, get two? And back then, artwork was so important, because even alone, the artwork on albums would sell you. Yeah, I used to play Russian roulette. I used to look at albums and be like, this looks cool, so I'm just gonna buy it. And sometimes I was usually right. Yeah, like, usually right. So then we got Aya. I ended up finding out all these other people. I used to follow this music collective by Jay Dennis called Naked Music. And they would. These different. Naked music, Blue 6. You would have Aya, Lisa Shaw,
Sponsor/Ad Voice
you
Sean Ross
know, so many things. And you had jazza Nova, Clara Hill, the list goes on. Like, all of these different artists that I would listen to. But that's basically how music started for me. It was just like, my parents were always feeding us different types of music from different parts of the world, different eras. So we just grew up. Like I said, one moment it'll be Donny Hathaway, then it'll be the Carpenters.
Kid Fury
Right, right, right, right, right. So, you know, had basically already had this really wide education of artists and different sounds. And you had, like, this upbringing that was very tied into music and things like that. So that actually explains a lot in terms of education and background. How do. How do those things, like, inform this dance party event, Stardust, that is now, like, the party to go to?
Sean Ross
Well, for Me, Stardust started really interesting. Like, I talk about it a lot in interviews, and I don't know if you've seen it, but, like, I got sick in 2022, so I had Covid. I got Covid a few times. I did not take the vaccine, even though it didn't matter at this point, because people are getting this from either the vaccine or not. But I ended up developing long Covid. I was, like, bedbound for, like, seven months. I couldn't walk. I ended up developing a disorder called pots, which stands for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. And that basically is just a whole array underneath another thing called dysautonomia. And so at the time, I just got off of tour. I was on tour with Amber Mark, and then I quickly went on tour with Snow Allegra right after. And then I started getting, like, these, like, weird panic attacks in my body. And I was like, this is weird because I'm not like, a nervous person. And, you know me, like, I don't seem like that. I'm always outgoing, and I'm just like, okay, there has to be more to this. I kind of, like, freeze away from, like, the world for a moment. And I wanted to figure out another way on how to come back, not only to, like, make finances and make money, because I had other ways of making money, but to, you know, also, like, keep that afloat. But what was another way I could have a presence inside of the world?
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
And So I started DJing when I was, like, around, like, 23.
Kid Fury
Okay.
Sean Ross
And so how I got into. How I got into DJing is kind of interesting. So Coco and Breezy, who are good friends of mine, they've been DJing for years. They have an amazing eyewear company called Coco and Breezy.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
And I watched them, and I watched Coco and Breezy. Yeah. Shout out to Coco and Breezy. And I would always just watch them. And they always knew that I had an ear for music as well. And at the time, my ex boyfriend, his name is Devin Wesley, and he, for my birthday, bought me a controller, a Pioneer controller. He asked Coco and Breezy, like, oh, like, what is the best thing to get Shawn? They told him he got it for me. I started DJing my friend Karen's parties called the Pinky Party. And at that time, I was, like, playing hip hop with a little bit of what New York would consider, like, ghetto goth with a little bit of vogue beats with, like, a little bit of everything, because I was figuring out my sound for the Public now, the sound that I play, I've always listened to that my whole life. But there's this thing, and I don't know if we want to talk about this, but I'm tired of going to parties. And sometimes I feel like DJs, and not even just DJs, people are afraid to play the music they listen to behind closed doors. They play popular music because they want to be accepted. And it's like, then you complain that the playlist sounds the same.
Kid Fury
I love this.
Sean Ross
I'm just being honest.
Kid Fury
No, I love this.
Sean Ross
It's like, no, play me what you listen to in your house. Even though it may be weird to someone else, it may not be because you're like, wait a minute, you're playing Sergio Mendes. I listen to Sergio Mendes too.
Kid Fury
Right?
Sean Ross
You're playing Enya, bitch. Wait, can we curse on you? I know, sorry. Oh, sorry. You're playing Enya, bitch. I've listened to Enya too, and it's like, I think that's the thing with today's generation that we're missing. Because back then when we were growing up, bitch, we listened to about, like, 17 different artists at one point. We listened to Britney Spears. Let's also talk about how Britney Spears in her prime was just as big as Beyonce.
Kid Fury
Britney Spears is one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
Sean Ross
Like, like, like, like Britney was as big as Beyonce in her prime.
Kid Fury
And I remember the Pepsi commercial with her and. And Beyonce and Pink, of course.
Sean Ross
Was that Pepsi?
Kid Fury
Yeah, yeah.
Sean Ross
Like, let's not forget it. At the end of the day, like, these artists also had their moments as well. Like, even artists like Christina Milian, Maya. There was a point where Maya was the biggest artist. There was a point where Christina Milian was the biggest artist. Then we had girl groups like Destiny Chow. We had s Club 7. We had Samantha, Momba, like Craig, David. The list goes on. We had so many different artists that we would listen to at once. And as a black person, we didn't just listen to R and B and hip hop. Yeah. We would listen to Eve. We would listen to Foxy Brown and turn around and listen to Green Day and turn around and listen to Pink.
Kid Fury
Right?
Sean Ross
So for me, it's like, I just hate the fact that when we go into, like, parties, it's like you're hearing the same songs over and over again because people are afraid to be different. When we were growing up, we wanted to be nothing but different, right? And then that goes into another conversation about why I think the gays back then were Fabber. But anywho. But not to lose.
Kid Fury
Listen, we can always do a part two and three and four. Yes. And a four.
Sean Ross
Four. But yeah, that's just like. I don't know, it was just like a whole thing of that. I don't know if I trailed off, if I answered the question.
Kid Fury
No, no, I agree. Because it's like, put me up on game. What are you listening to at home? Introduce me to some new shit. Even if it isn't. There have been times where a DJ will play something that feels like, oh, I wouldn't have heard this in a club, but I may be the one person in there that's like, bitch. I'll never forget this one time when Everyday People had first started, like in New York. And it was like super intimate. It wasn't that popular. And it was when I first started.
Sean Ross
You know, we were there from back in the day.
Kid Fury
Yeah, like back, back, back. Exactly.
Sean Ross
Everyday People. Congratulations to y' all and I love y'.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
All.
Sean Ross
But Everyday People, the people who are missing it now, y' all missed like the real everyday people, like when it was like super, super exclusive. But at the end of the day, businesses have to grow and shout out to my everyday people. Get your coin.
Kid Fury
LA Everyday People is lit.
Sean Ross
LA Everyday People is the best one. It is, but low key. Can I tell you what I think the second best one is?
Kid Fury
Which one?
Sean Ross
Dc.
Kid Fury
I haven't been in DC yet, but
Sean Ross
I have heard that. I heard dc, where they have it at the. What is it? The Bullpen.
Kid Fury
Okay.
Sean Ross
That venue is sickening. Like, the sound coming from multiple different places. I want to do like a house music event there. Like, oh my gosh.
Kid Fury
Yeah, yeah. But when I went for the first time, maybe it was the second time I went, it was when I had first just moved. I had just moved to New York and you know, regular every now everyday party, Solange was there with like.
Sean Ross
Solange used to be my dance partner. Oh, let me say something. Solange, girl, if you're looking at this, you know back in the day when it used to be at the DL.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
Solange, me and Solange would literally go and give you full blown Wiz choreography in the middle of the dance floor. I have pictures of me in Solange, like giving you, like, I don't know, I felt like she was Diana Ross and I was Sterling St. Jacques and like we were in Studio 54. Like, yes, you are absolutely right.
Kid Fury
Yes. The DJ played what was the song? Get Free by Major Lazer. And I thought I was the soul Nigga, who's listening to this song? Solange and her friends hit the floor. I'm dancing. They're, like, mere feet away from me. Nobody. It seemed like nobody else knew it. One of her friends turned to me and was like, oh, he knows this song. Pointing at me. And Solange was like,
Sean Ross
literally, I went home.
Kid Fury
Affirmed. I went home with strength and with my chin up high.
Sean Ross
Because you knew that you were on the brink of greatness. Like, it's like, oh, yeah. Solange, she was like, oh, yeah. We see good. We're drinking from the same fountain. Got it, girl.
Kid Fury
Fantastic. So I agree. Like, put the girls on game play. What you are listening to at home.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
This episode is brought to you by Starbucks.
Kid Fury
That is fire.
Sean Ross
Whoa, that's good.
Kid Fury
This might be the drink of the summer.
Sean Ross
Okay, I like this one too. I'm rocking with it.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Okay, try it for yourself. Starbucks refreshers concentrates are coming home. Find them in the coffee aisle and make it yours. It's the number one OBGYN recommended brand of emergency contraception, and it won't impact your future fertility. That's freedom to be use as directed.
Kid Fury
Do you think that the girls, like, overall get kind of sucked into the business over the art?
Sean Ross
Yeah, I think the world has just become extremely basic. I know that's a cliche, but, like, I don't know. Like, I think it even goes. Let me get comfortable when I say this. I don't know. I think it even goes back to, like, just being gay. Right? People talk so much shit about Azealia Banks. And that's fine. People can say whatever. But one thing I will say that Azealia Banks said that. I agree. One day on Instagram, she was like, what happened to the fab gays? Gays used to be so fab. And I'm like, she's so right. It's like the gays have become so generic. Like, we literally lost the plot. Like, it's gone. Like, literally, like, when I was coming up. But then I also think it comes with, okay, this one, I'm gonna get slack. Okay? So give it to, I'm from New York, Okay? I think as a New Yorker, there is a different form of Southern mentality that you do not experience as a black person. You just don't. I feel like when it was 2017 and I went. Now, mind you, my roots come from North Carolina. Charlotte.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
But when I went to Essence Fest for the first time in a 2017, and I'm sitting there eating crawfish or shrimp and grits and boudin or whatever it is, I'm like, oh, this is black culture. For my people who have not experienced black culture, go to New Orleans and you will understand your roots.
Kid Fury
Very true.
Sean Ross
Thousand percent.
Kid Fury
Fair point.
Sean Ross
But this is the other part that I don't realize. Have you noticed that everything that goes viral about black people now, it is the sheer ignorance of, like, Southern culture. It's like the. The tone now of blackness universally is, like, Southern black. Like, everybody now finna. Everybody, you know, and now everybody's stealing Santana's. The. What is it? The quiet on the creek.
Kid Fury
Quiet on the creek.
Sean Ross
Like, everybody's wanting to be this Southern black girl now.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
And that's fine. Cause I know my Judy's that are originally from the South. But the part that bothers me is it's like, I don't know, like, the individuality of, like, the gays when I was coming up. And then I feel. The reason why I say that is because then I feel like the Southern gays that, you know, you have the Bible belt, the kids that were raised super, super religious, and, like, they're moving away from home and they haven't came out to their families, and they get to be this alter ego in another city. But then they still haven't done the internal healing, you know?
Kid Fury
Yep.
Sean Ross
I feel like part of it. It's not their fault, but it is a slight problem that I have. And the problem is that that insecurity has now formed the average black gay man to want to only appear as masculine and masculine. And now all of a sudden, everybody's a body boy. Everybody. Like, I'm gonna tell you, Twitter used to be so much fun, but sometimes I'm like, the gays are insufferable. Like, you will post a photo of your body and be like, I wonder what I'm gonna cook for dinner today. Girl. Girl. Like, you couldn't think of anything. Like, if you want that much attention and validation, just say, hey, don't I look fab? Literally, you're that generic that you're like, oh. Oh, my God, Great gym workout day. But it's like, when I go, sometimes I'll go to people's pages and I'll look at the photo section of Twitter. And it'll be photo after photo after photo of the same mirror, the same outfit, same post. I'm like, when did we become this generic? When I was growing up. And I have to let this be known. And I'm not trying to offend anybody, because I do support. I am. I'm a butch queen.
Kid Fury
Down.
Sean Ross
Are we butch queens? Hey, high five to that one right there. Poo.
Kid Fury
Thank you, sister.
Sean Ross
Like, I'm a butch queen. To me, when I see that, like, a butch queen. A butch queen is well rounded. Like, yes, a butch queen is well rounded. If I see you're a butch queen publicly, it lets me know you have healed. You have healed, like, transparently. Because at the end of the day, like, sure, like, you could go and literally be like, I'm feminine, but I guarantee you, I can knock your boots better than any nigga in the street. And that's true, Tea. But with that being said, I don't need you to know that I don't need to say that, because at the end of the day, I will just show you that. Because that's something that's between me and you, and that's intimacy. But I'm just letting you know. But it's a thing where it's like, everybody wants to be this carbon copy of this butch body boy and then even the body boys. Cause there's no shade towards the body boys. When I was coming up, the body boys were even fat. Back when I used to go to the circus, like, Alec, they were fab. Like, give me, like, a Noah's ark or a queer folk moment. The gays were fab. And it's like, you know, I don't like the shaming of the feminine things. Because when I was coming up, the gays you revered were the feminine ones. Those were the ones storming through the club that literally had the rope open for them, that literally got free drinks, that literally had a section. It was like, literally, like, the doors opened for them.
Kid Fury
Literally. Even for me, growing up in Miami, it was really femme queens, trans women who kind of were like, oh, girl, here's how this gay shit work.
Sean Ross
Literally.
Kid Fury
You know what I mean? Like, it was. Yeah, there was, like, body boys and trade and stuff around. But, like, how I was able to, like, unpack and unwind my own identity and learn was it was really the femme girls you learned from.
Sean Ross
From the mothers.
Kid Fury
From the mothers.
Sean Ross
From trans women.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
When I was coming up, I mean, I think the first time I went to the pier, I was 16. I used to go back then they had these different things in New York City, like Nutrazone, gmhc, hmi, Hetrick Martin Institute, the Door. I used to go to all of these places in Vogue, but it was always a trans woman that taught you. I mean, ugh. Like I would see everybody from Christina Tsunami to Gisele Extravaganza to even down to Leiomy, down to just like so many people. Even now when people look at em, they call MC Deborah. But I know as Selvin, like these people taught you so much about how to exist as being gay. And one of my mentors and who's like another father figure to me, Ty Hunter. You know Ty Hunter. Shout out to you, Ty. We all know Ty, Beyonce's stylist, creative director. What I love about Ty is when I was younger, Ty took me underneath his wing and he. And I kept my mouth shut. One thing y' all young queens gotta learn how to do is keep your mouth shut and learn. I watched him and I just, I told myself in my mind, I wanna be like this man so much when I grow up. Because I just love how much respect he got from anyone. Yeah, like, he was revered. And he still is revered. But I used to watch him go through the clubs and shake everyone's hands, give everyone hugs. And sometimes you see shady bitches, like, they will hug him and then he'll walk past and I'll see a face. I'm like, yeah, bitch, but you already gave you a hug, so you can't take it back, right? Because at the day, you know, at the end of the day, excuse my French, but Ty Hunter's that nigga. Like, at the end of the day, like, outside of his work, Ty is a console.
Kid Fury
Literally.
Sean Ross
He's always been Ty. When I was younger, I remember, like when it came for me and modeling at a time when I wasn't making any money. I was a teenager. I remember Ty used to give me money to get on a train, pay my cell phone bill. But you need to have your phone on because you need to make sure you're getting your castings and you need to get to your castings. Between him, my mom, they were really always on me and helping on me and pouring into me. But yeah, back to that. It's just the gays back then, if you're watching this, the gays were. And now I feel like they're insufferably wanting to be masculine so bad. Not realizing that the reality is that if you are masculine and you are only masculine, attracted to masc you're actually feminine. So who's the top and who's the bottom?
Kid Fury
You sent me a clip that said it was this.
Sean Ross
I gagged you.
Kid Fury
You did gag me. I was like, bitch. Wait. This person said that feminine gay men are more masculine than masculine men. Like, you have to be incredibly masculine as a feminine man.
Sean Ross
Absolutely. I 1000% agree that feminine men are more masculine because it takes guts to be a man. When you think of a masculine, simple, like, let me say something. There are a lot of people who love me. There are a lot of people who can't stand me. And the people that can't stand me is because you naturally don't know me. You didn't take the opportunity and the chance to know me, you know, a fragment of me. And maybe I intimidate you so much that you are not willing to get to know me. And with that being said, stay over there. Because at the end of the day, I am a specific breed for a specific person. I am not for everybody, and I don't want to be for everybody. Some of y' all bitches be out here trying to be for everybody. And you wonder why you fall in the cracks like, no, but, yeah, like, feminine men are masculine. Why? Because it takes courage. It takes courage. Like, you know, when you look at, like, I love Shout out to Patrick and Polk, but Noah's Ark. Noah's Ark taught me, like, I could not wait to get older and be gay because they was just so fat. But, you know, when you look at, like, one thing I love about the dynamic between Noah and Wade.
Kid Fury
Right?
Sean Ross
Is that Noah, of course. Yeah. He appeared more effeminate. You know, more of that. You know, the styling very much gave Raven Baxter's original. But with that being said, there's also the moment where Wade wanted to get topped by Noah. And that was so weird for everybody. It's like, no, but, like, look at Noah. Noah's very masculine, and Daryl Stevens in person is very masculine. Like, it's not a very weird thing, you know, But. But yes, he got into.
Kid Fury
We got into drag with Alex, and they performed at that one club, and Wade was like. Like, Wade was not uncomfortable or faced by it.
Sean Ross
But that's the thing. A lot of people don't realize that you being uncomfortable with as a black gay man. Because I'm specifically talking to black gay men. Because that is what I am, 1000%. To be uncomfortable with femininity and to be uncomfortable with, like, even drag culture is to be uncomfortable with yourself 1000%. Because if you really realize it. All of the makings of those things are what made you who you are. The same way. Like in A Devil Is Prada, that whole scene where she goes, oh, you think this is a pile of stuff. When in reality that this blue sweater you're wearing was picked out by the very people in this room.
Kid Fury
Right.
Sean Ross
Your gayness was literally shaped by the very people you despise, literally 1,000%.
Kid Fury
And I love it because the idea, it's like the social idea around masculinity, theologies around it. If you really go by that, then, yeah, feminine gay men who are open are walking onto the street, not letting you tell them who they are. Not being faced too much about who they are. That takes. Whereas like the average masculine man, especially
Sean Ross
straight women, I'm not into masculine men. And I'm not gonna lie at a time. I think every gay man goes through a phase where you are into what we would call trade, baby. If you older, you still chasing trade. That is not a trophy. That is embarrassing. Like, do you understand how much you have to go through with trade? Like, first of all, you gotta teach trade how to wash their ass.
Kid Fury
Let's start there.
Sean Ross
Then you gotta teach trade how to be honest with themselves, which is never gonna happen.
Kid Fury
Never.
Sean Ross
And if you are literally going, and you are dating a man that is ashamed of who he is and keeping things secrets, he has no issue keeping a secret from you. And you got those one gaze that be like, well, it's okay. That's why you don't. You don't date trade. But it don't matter. You're giving trade your time. And see, there's STDs. And I'm not talking about sexually transmitted diseases. I'm talking about spiritually transmitted diseases.
Kid Fury
Come on now.
Sean Ross
So therefore, if you are messing with that to get the fix, then that's what you think of yourself.
Kid Fury
I see this all the time too. Cause like, yeah, when you're a younger, you know, wet behind the ear, green, gay. That makes all the sense. Yeah, we've all done that. But at this big age.
Sean Ross
No, I love a gay man. Give me a gay man any day. You gay. You want to get up in a heel, a pump. You want to dress up in drag on me for Halloween? Let's do it. It lets me know you're heel.
Kid Fury
I'm fine. I want to go to the wig party with you. I want to do all like, I can't be tied up, even if it is just fun.
Sean Ross
Then the girls complain. Why they single. The girls complain why they're single. Why? Because they're not actually trying to date. And the girls need to open up to that idea. You're not looking for a partner. You're looking for a aesthetically pleasing fuck buddy. And that is the issue. But if you were looking for a partner, you would understand that there's more. And one of the things that I think that has helped me when it comes to dating as my years go by, is when I'm dating someone, it's like, I want to know, who are you? And this is cliche, but who are you when I am not me, who are you when I am at my worst moment, you know, because all this body and stuff like, baby, y' all gonna. All of us are eventually gonna have erectile dysfunction.
Kid Fury
So.
Sean Ross
And if y' all not having it already. And so it's like, what carries us?
Kid Fury
The girls carry a Cialis or two in the purse.
Sean Ross
Girl. The girls out here doing trimex. The girls are out here doing. What's crazy to me is when you go to the circuit parties and the girls are literally on Viagra. Like, that's wild to me. Like, the girls are on Viagra. Like, sex is not that serious. Like, the girls, like, don't get me wrong, I love sexual liberation.
Kid Fury
Same.
Sean Ross
I have had my experiences. We do not shame anybody that's watching this. I've done it. I've done the threesomes, the four sums, the seven sums. I have been to the sex parties. I have done the things. But there comes to a place where you have to have balance. And a lot of the girls. That's why this. The. That's why the black gay community circuit is super popular right now, which I get it. A lot of those girls are playing catch up.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
But now y' all starting to do it a little messy. And it's starting to be. Y' all are starting to adopt the non black circuit mean girl energy. That is not cool. And it's like, oh, you're not a body boy. Or you get baby, nobody don't want you. We already know. Because at the end of the day, I think it's great to have a great physique. But I'm gonna tell you what's a red flag for me if you are so much about your body. And what kills me is I can't stand a gym right there. And they got nothing else going on for their lives. But if you are such a body person, it makes me wonder what else you do not have in store. What else do you not have? And nine times out of 10. Most of these body boys are very shallow.
Kid Fury
Yeah, I have a couple of, like, gym friends, mostly straight that.
Sean Ross
No, they're not
Kid Fury
that. Like, they are very locked into their body, like, on a. On a daily basis. Some of it is their business, like trainers and stuff like that.
Sean Ross
But I think that everybody. Ellie's a trainer. But some people have certification. Certification.
Kid Fury
Real life certified. I went to school. I know the ligaments and the names of that stuff. I think some people, like, at least a couple of people I know, like, legit, have a passion for health and anatomy and stuff like that. But what you just hit on is, like, you in a gym, what else do you have going on for your life? These people I know have families, friends, trips, things like that. You know what I mean?
Sean Ross
A lot of these gym boys be hobosexuals, you know? You know, there are boys out here that will literally pay $150 or $250 for a massive, expensive gym membership. But literally, their apartment looks like crap. There should be no reason why I'm coming in your. There should be no reason why. I met you at Equinox, which is a phenomenal gym, by the way.
Kid Fury
Fantastic.
Sean Ross
But then I come into your apartment and none of your plates match. Make it make sense.
Kid Fury
All right, let's.
Sean Ross
Palm needs to be taken care of first before anything.
Kid Fury
I couldn't agree more. Let this be a lesson, because it is very true. How are we here with the eucalyptus towels and luxury, like, heated pools and things like that? And then, oh, we just have paper
Sean Ross
plates or like, why is it that you're spending this money even like, athletes, right? I look at athletes like million dollar athletes. Right? What pisses me off about athletes? Because I have my own things, Like, I have my own blemishes. I have my braces on, which they're gonna come off soon. Shout out to Dr. Bobby Work. But my thing is this, though, is like, why are athletes not having good skin? Why are they having horrible toes? Do you know that at the end of the day, you have enough money to get a pedicure? You could literally in bulk, in bulk pay for someone to literally give. You could pay an esthetician, literally. You could get a $300 facial once a month, and you can get your feet done and nails done twice a month, all for $1,000. But y' all going over here and spending thousands of dollars in the club make it make sense. Coyote's not right.
Kid Fury
Yeah, the priorities aren't in order, but it is a thing of, like, I think trying to assimilate to what pop culture is saying is what you're supposed to do and be. And I do think that that's essentially what we're talking about in terms of, like, the gays today coming up, and a lot of them feeling less fab, more generic and boring. I think that's kind of like a. Someone was saying something similar to me the other day about another group. I think it was maybe like, stylists or something like that, but.
Sean Ross
Oh, my God, what happened about stylists?
Kid Fury
I don't remember if it was stylists. I just. I know that I had a conversation with someone recently where we basically hit on this thing of people making, like, a tiny fracture of who they are, like, their whole identity. And that fracture is usually the one that they feel the most comfortable present to the world. And it does tie into all of these other insecurities that you might have with yourself or things that you aren't so sure about, you know, bringing to the surface when many of those things share them. I don't want the world to be boring.
Sean Ross
The world has become boring because the world has become. The issue with the world is that I blame social media. There's too much policing. You know what? Social media. You know what messed up is that? Social media. This is a negative and a positive. Social media gave everybody a voice. That's the positive. The negative is social media gave everybody voice. Gave everybody a voice, so everybody can open up their phones, say whatever they want, and it has the potential to go viral, which is why we have Cancel Culture. And what kills me also, too, is people are getting canceled by people that are literally sitting behind their computer all day long. You're getting canceled by someone who literally doesn't even have the balls to even leave their state. Like, that's kind of messed up that we're allowing so much power to the viewer. Even magazines, like, magazines Today, like, you ever noticed that, like, there are people like that are getting covers of magazines that will remain nameless because I won't say any magazine covers. But for me, it's like, there are certain girls that get these covers. And I'm like, do you know how long it took Beyonce to get that cover?
Kid Fury
You're kind of.
Sean Ross
Yeah, but y' all are doing. You wanna know why? Because now what they're doing is this viewer's choice. When in fashion. When in fashion. When I was coming up, fashion told you what was in. Not someone from West Bubba. Fuck telling you what they think is in Carolyn. No, like, that's just not how fashion went. Fashion was. We told you there used to be a job where people literally made a six figure salary called trend forecasting.
Kid Fury
Hmm.
Sean Ross
Yes. Did you know that? Oh, I had plenty of friends who worked in trend forecasting. Their job was to forecast the future trends. Okay, like, that's fierce. Oh, bitch, ain't been $200,000 a year. Are you kidding me? But now, because we have the general population trending of the. Forecasting the trend, it's like, yeah. They're also forecasting who gets the next big music award.
Kid Fury
The A R died.
Sean Ross
I mean, the A and R is not a thing anymore. Because don't get me started on music and collaborations and how all these girls are literally scrambling for the next hoo hay. Like, that part baffles me. Then you have these big labels that come in. Haven't you noticed that all of these big artists only last 3 years?
Kid Fury
A lot of them are coming and going.
Sean Ross
They're coming and going because they're being signed too fast and there's no artist development anymore. Back then when we were growing up, artists had to know how to dance, sing, and act. Britney Spears. Let's not also say at the end of the day, Britney Spears. These kids, Britney Spears and NSync, all of them come from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Kid Fury
Yeah. They were performing since they were this big.
Sean Ross
Beyonce has been performing since out of the womb. Okay. Most of these artists Bjork has been performing has probably has been making music since she was, what, like 8 years old?
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
You know what I'm saying? I wonder, does anybody know that song? If I'm right or wrong? I think this song is by Bjork. You know that song called it's oh so Quiet?
Kid Fury
Mm mm.
Sean Ross
It's like it's oh so quiet.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Shh.
Sean Ross
You give me the bamboo. Da da da da da da da da it's oh, so quiet.
Kid Fury
Okay, that's.
Sean Ross
I don't know if it's hers, but she did a version of that song that we hear in children's movies forever. Still to this day. And people don't know that that's Bjork. So people have had to know how to do so many things, which is why we have Maya eating it up on My Love is like, whoa. Because, yes, I needed you to know. I needed you to tap dance and sing and do a speaker.
Kid Fury
That was like the bare minimum for pop stars and musicians when we were younger. It was like, oh, wait, you can't sing and dance and act. Okay, well, goodbye. Hi.
Sean Ross

Kid Fury
I agree that there are a lot of people who are kind of coming and going in music right now, and I think it is. A lot of them get really signed very, very quickly. A lot of them then don't get the support or the training. And then they're also not allowed to make the art that they want to make. And so I don't really get that. But it is a problem. I do want to ask you though, a bit about what we were discussing earlier or before based on that clip, which is house music, and how I desperately need big black voices on these tracks. Again, house dance, when I was growing up, there was like Martha Wash, there was Robin S. There were all of these big voices, like beautiful voices. Many probably coming from Barbara Tucker, right? Like, these people were huge. They had songs that were like, to this day are like, everybody knows the fucking song. They may not even know the person's name or face. Because I know a lot of those performers, those singers, those women got the far short end of the stick and never got proper representation or amplification or anything like that. And so now I wanna talk about this too. I feel like house, like many genres that we created became popularized and then watered down and then lost the plot. And we then also get.
Sean Ross
We don't say watered down, we say whitewashed.
Kid Fury
I mean, well, that's more appropriate.
Sean Ross
And again, when I make this statement, we are not racist. I'm black, I can't be racist. I mean, it's true, but it has become whitewashed.
Kid Fury
Yeah, 1,000%. And I feel like, like I was saying the other day, a lot of time I go out and I'll enjoy a beat. I think my ear has been more like refined for that sort of stuff. But then I hear cell phone. I'm like, you know, who would eat this shit up?
Sean Ross
I do that every day. Like, why are you not on this? Or even like, prime example. There's certain producers in the house music world, right? That I'm like, damn. Like, okay, I promise I'll tell you. Like, I'll tell you two of my favorite house DJs and house producers, right? I'm gonna give you, like, a collective of, like, two, right? There's Ron Trent, who. I absolutely love Ron Trent. He inspires my sound a lot. I actually religiously usually open up my sets with either a Ron Trent or the next person I'm talking about is Trinidadian Deep, okay? I always listen to their sound, and I'm just like, just imagine if Ron Trent and Trinidadian Deep produced the next Sade album. And if you listen to their sounds, whoever's listening to this, if you have never heard of Ron Trent in Trinidadian Deep, listen to their music and then listen to Sade and tell me they are the missing link for the next Sade album we have been waiting for for the last 500 years. Literally, for me, it's just like, yeah, the essence of house music, it's not that it's been lost. It's been pushed to the side.
Kid Fury
Right?
Sean Ross
And that's the issue. I think that when I look at house music and I look at, like, festivals, like, even, like, festival culture. Like, festival culture today is specifically. Transparently. It is for specifically white college kids.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
That is what festivals are for. They are for nearby USC college kids.
Kid Fury
They are.
Sean Ross
And these college kids equate a good time to the use of drugs and laser beams and pyro and a man raising his hand up for every drop. If, you know DJ culture, you know, you go and you. You sync that echo button to half a beat, and, you know, you verb it out and it gives them, like, this little. And then all of a sudden, in the minds of these kids, they now believe when they hear these drops, they're like, ugh, I'm having a euphoric moment. Yes, it's happening. Oh, my Molly's hitting me so much. Like, girl. No, it's not. It's not. But when it does, see, this is the difference. Like, what a lot of the kids are listening to today, what they think is house music, is actually edm. Yeah, it is, But I love edm. But I'm gonna tell you, EDM era for me was like deadmau5, I remember, with Cascade. Oof. Like, that was like, the era of, like. That era of, like, EDM was so lush and expensive. Like, I'm hearing it right now. I'm just hearing dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, Dun, dun, dun. And I'm like, y. I remember yes, girl. I remember, like, yes. Like, that. That was euphoric edm.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
And so are there any artists that
Kid Fury
are still giving you that vibe and EDM specifically? Cause I'm like, every now and then, I feel like I happen upon one.
Sean Ross
I don't know. Honestly, I don't know. Like, honestly, I find myself still going back to just, like, deadmau5 and cascade. Like, recently, we've been listening to, like, this song. It's an old song. It's called Waves of Change by Samantha James and Cascade. Listen to that song.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Fab.
Sean Ross
Samantha James, phenomenal. She's not black, but phenomenal vocalist in the house world. Like, love her.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
But when it comes to those big black voices, right? It's like, yes. Like, Lizzo, hello. Why are you.
Kid Fury
That's not what you mean.
Sean Ross
Like, I don't care what people feel about you, baby. You have that voice. I need you to hop on a track with Louis Vega. I need you to do something with Green Velvet. Like, I need this to happen, but then I need some of the white DJs. Like, okay. There's this song that I hear a lot. And again, I promise you, when I say in this, I'm not throwing shade, so I do not want to get canceled for this, but it's like this song that when I hear it, it's just like. I don't know. Like, um, I'm not throwing shade. I'm just saying to me, I don't think it's good, but it's a song that I hear. And it's like the girls, she's saying, if you hate your job, quit. If you, like. She's just like, saying, like, if you hate your job, quit. If you're tired, go to bed. And I'm just like, girl, like, they love that. You didn't put any emphasis behind this track.
Kid Fury
They love that.
Sean Ross
But then you have, like, phenomenal, like, poets like Ursula Rucker, who I. I love putting an Ursula Rucker vocal or, like, taking a vocal from, like, LA India. Like, LA India. It is a phenomenal Latin artist, like, vocals out of this world or have soul in it.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Yeah.
Sean Ross
Or even, like, taking somebody like today, like Aja Monet and, like, putting her voice over something. Or honestly, just take, like, spoken word interviews of, like, what we're talking about right now. Something like Honey Dijon would do.
Kid Fury
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sean Ross
And, like, putting it over. The issue is, is that DJs are. Are. Are literally getting by by doing the bare minimum.
Kid Fury
I Say this all the time, and it's so tired.
Sean Ross
But also, look at the crowd. The crowd is doing the bare minimum.
Kid Fury
That's exactly what I say.
Sean Ross
You're staring at the DJ like, I'm so tired of that. Like, I don't know when this has happened where, like, all of these kids go and stare at the DJ and then they wave their bodies back and forth. It's always like. I'm like, do you know that there's an actual style of dancing in house? Do you know what footwork actually is?
Kid Fury
No. When they're really lit, it becomes a thrashing.
Sean Ross
Like, girl, Like, I'm like, come on. I went to Soul Summit this past Sunday in New York, and Soul Summit is. Like I said in my video on Instagram, Soul Summit is a phenomenon. If you have ever or if you are ever lucky to experience Soul Summit in Fort Greene, consider yourself lucky. I have one of the most beautiful moments in Soul Summit where I will never forget. It was, like, 2017 or 18, and I think the DJ was playing travel. It's a song called Traveling by Quentin Harris. Okay, I know Quentin, and I will never forget just dancing and crying and, like, the rain just pouring on a speaker and on me and my friends, and we're drenched. And I literally. I'm not religious. I. But if there is a God, I was giving my soul to God in that moment. Like, that moment can never, ever be remade. Like, I was baptized in sound, and it was just so beautiful. And I went to Soul Summit, and don't get me wrong, I had a great time. Mark Francis played, and it was beautiful. But what I've been hearing a lot is that a lot of people are saying that Soul Summit is becoming less black. And while I would say it's more diverse. And let me tell you, I want to say two things. Yes, it is not as black as it was, but it's very much still black. Yeah, but there are white people coming. But you can't get angry. Well, you wanna know why white people buy shit? Facts. Let me tell you something. Anybody that wants to throw shade at a black DJ that has a white crowd, you're dumb. You wanna know why? Because white people buy shit. White people don't complain about the price. They say when and where, and they show up on time. So that's the one thing that I will say about white people, but this is the issue that I do have with white people, is that you come into the space and you don't adapt. Learn the way, learn a new dance. You know, like Shake your body in a different way. Like, give yourself up to whatever your higher power is instead. Y' all stand there. Y' all bop back and forth like a zombie. Y' all look at the dj. And then I think the issue, what they've been saying recently was that I guess last year or the year before, I don't know, the circuit gays have now been coming into the party, and I guess they've been, like, doing, like, drugs in the open. And they've been doing. I don't know, it was rumored there were some sexual things that would happen. Soul Summit is a family event. Bitch, don't make me slap you sideways. Soul Summit is a family event. I've been going to Soul Summit since I was 13 or 14 years old. Soul Summit is a family event. And now you have these. The issue isn't the fact that the circuit gays are there. It's the fact that you're bringing your circuitness into a family event. And the circuits now are boring. Because back then, the circuits were fab, baby. The girls were dancing. Now the girls are G'd out. The girls are on the Tina. Like, they're on a lot of things. You know what I'm saying? And it's like they're just standing there, and it's like, girl, move your body. Like, the music is intoxicating enough. Like, the music will take you through and through and through. You don't need drugs, baby. I remember I didn't have my first blunt. I didn't smoke my first blunt until I was, like, 22, 23.
Kid Fury
I was 22.
Sean Ross
I think we've all done drugs. We've all tried it. I didn't try my first. I mean, I don't do drugs now. I've had a bit. I didn't try my first bump of coke until I was, like, 26 and figured out it is not for me. I think I've done ketamine twice in my life. That's also not for me. But I do love an occasional shroom here and there.
Kid Fury
Shrooms. I mean, that's natural. That's just up to you.
Sean Ross
I don't know what's natural anymore. But my thing is, like, the girls, it's like, you know, it gets to a point where it's like. The question I want to ask is, what are you trying to escape?
Kid Fury
Hmm?
Sean Ross
What are you trying to escape? That's what it feels like to me. And then you have the body boys that. It's like you're there, and you're, like, doing your little two step and you're like with your other 17 body boy friends and you're all being mean and it's like, girl, nobody want to be a Miyabe girl.
Kid Fury
I just think that the whole point, I mean, I think people go to parties for all different types of reasons, right? My thing ever since I was young was, if I cannot dance and sweat at this party, this function, I don't wanna go.
Sean Ross
Because you come from the era of real partying. How old are you?
Kid Fury
I'm 38. 38.
Sean Ross
Oh, yeah. You experienced it, baby. Wait, when did you live in New York?
Kid Fury
I moved to New York when I was 25. So I was there from 2012 to.
Sean Ross
Oh, yeah. So you were going to Splash?
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
G Lounge. You were going to Van Damme on Sunday. Which.
Kid Fury
What was the. What was the little lounge club up in the Bronx that was like this big. That's where I met Ty. Yes.
Sean Ross
Girl, the girls don't know about no parking.
Kid Fury
They don't know about no parking in New York.
Sean Ross
First of all, nightlife for the gays sucks in New York. When we were coming up as black people alone, you had at least three or four things you could do every single day as a black person. You had El Morocco, you had no parking, you had secret, you had all these different things. So now all we have now is lambda. And then they just closed down four West.
Kid Fury
What?
Sean Ross
I heard they closed down four west in Harlem. Like, what are y' all doing? But then I understand it's either. I don't know what it is, but maybe the girls are not keeping the doors open. So at the same time, as black people, we can't complain that things are being taken away when you're not going. And then one thing I can't stand is the black girls wanna show up late. Like, they love showing up at.
Kid Fury
Girl, listen, I'm from Miami. The function would be ending at five. It's unnatural for me to show up before one o'. Clock.
Sean Ross
And that's fine.
Kid Fury
I'm used to it now it ends at 5.
Sean Ross
But in LA, you girls know, stuff closes at 2. Why are you coming at 1:25?
Kid Fury
It's different here.
Sean Ross
Why are you coming at 1 25? Talking about, what are you doing after, babes? I've been here. Yeah, I'm ready to go home. I'm ready to go home.
Kid Fury
I've said about the afters, too.
Sean Ross
Yeah. And afters. Like, don't get me wrong, there's some afters that I do. Like. Like, I love, like, sequoias I love Ms. Sequoia. Oh, let me say something. I'm so wrong. There's a Sequoia. I forget what. Sequoia's after hours. But I will go to Sequoia's after hours just to go to Mrs. Charlotte's Soul Food just to get her catfish. Like, the best catfish and fried chicken may go on. I may go this Sunday.
Kid Fury
Honestly, if AFTRS doesn't come with catfish, why am I there?
Sean Ross
It's not in after hours. But yeah, it's like the girls, the black girls want to show up late. And it's like, what kills me is y' all show up late to make a grand entrance for the same girls you hung out with yesterday. And it doesn't make sense to me. Like, girls show up, show up so that these promoters could start hitting their bar quotas, so that they could keep having parties and keep doors open. You don't realize that you're part of the problem of why things are closing.
Kid Fury
I do think it's. A lot of. A lot of folks are like, they show up late because they want to get there when people are there. But it's like, if everybody doing it,
Sean Ross
it's that social anxiety of, like, I can't. One thing I can't stand. And I noticed is when I come to la, when a bitch go on the phone and they ask me, oh, what are you wearing? Or who you going with? Uh, bitch, I dress for me. I don't dress for the occasion. I dress for me. I am the occasion work. And on top of that, not only do I dress for the occasion, like, oh, oh, oh, who. Who's all gonna be there? Who you going with? Stay home, stay home. Don't come out. You pissed me off.
Kid Fury
LA has absolutely opened my eyes. Clicking, tipping by my. I don't have to even, like, know
Sean Ross
who all gonna be there out by yourself. I'm like, who you with by myself many times. Cause the girls don't know how to do that, See, in the East Coast. By the way, you're from Miami.
Kid Fury
I am.
Sean Ross
I love Twist
Kid Fury
now. I have commentary for Ms. Twist. Cause twist too big, got too many rooms to be playing the same shit in all of those rooms. And knowing the history of twist, I know how it changed a bit around when it changed and a bit about why it changed.
Sean Ross
Educate me. I wanna know.
Kid Fury
There were really. It is another situation in nightlife where they sort of, you know, they just sort of adjust things in a way to subtly control the demographic of the people that are in there. So there Was one room. You know, the room that's, like, on the second level, like, to the farthest of the right. It's, like, a little narrow. It's like, not the main room where you walk in, but the one to the right of it upstairs.
Sean Ross
Not the one with the bar?
Kid Fury
No, not the one with the main bar. It's like a dance floor. Anyways. It's up on the second level, like, to the far right of the club. They used to play hip hop in that room a lot. Or like reggae, R and B. Like, just more like our music.
Sean Ross
We was just there. They was playing hip hop.
Kid Fury
They would do it, like, during our fashion. Right. They'll do it, like, sporadically, I think, depending on who's there. But it used to be like a. Yeah.
Sean Ross
What was the one club in Miami. I've been like, once or twice. I went there for, like, a random, like, Vogue night. But it was. Tell me if I'm lying. But it was a bar that you went into. And it was sand inside on the floor.
Kid Fury
Are you talking about, boy, or.
Sean Ross
I don't know. I went into a club where there legitimately was sand on the floor.
Kid Fury
Like, was it on the beach? Do you know where it was? Was it on the beach?
Sean Ross
I've only been to, like, Twist. What's like the. The Swinging Richards.
Kid Fury
Oh, yeah. I don't remember where that is.
Sean Ross
It's like a male club. I've been there before. But I love Twist. And I love. You know who I love going to Twist with? I love going to Twist with Bobby Lights.
Kid Fury
Really?
Sean Ross
Bobby is such a time.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
Bobby is very sweet. You know, people. You know, it's funny. What I realized is that the people that people say the most about publicly, you know, it's like they're leaders. They're leaders because you don't blend in, like, even, like, Jason Lee. Like, people talk so much shit about Jason Lee. I love Jason Lee. Jason Lee's so kind to me. Yeah, Jason Lee is so supportive and so kind. The thing about it is that Jason Lee's job is the same way. Like, Wendy Williams is True. Y' all watched it. Y' all could go. Y' all can go. Bash her all you want, but y' all watch the Wendy show religiously every day.
Kid Fury
Wendy's a key, though. Like Wendy. Unstoppable key. Even when I don't. I mean, I have to have at least 75 Wendy Williams gifts in my phone. So.
Sean Ross
I mean, Wendy. I used to listen to Wendy before she got her show, when she was on the radio.
Kid Fury
On WTV when Whitney was on. When Ms. Whitney Houston.
Sean Ross
I literally listened to that live.
Kid Fury
That should be over a house track Whitney going into.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Shh.
Sean Ross
I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it.
Kid Fury
Please do it.
Sean Ross
Oh, my God. And if any of you bitches take it, I'm gonna do that.
Kid Fury
Should be over a house trek. Come Nasty Harry.
Sean Ross
Oh, my God. I was thinking about always people do that. But you know which one I want to take? Me and my friends you were talking about. You ever seen Taxi? Cap Confessions?
Kid Fury
Yes.
Sean Ross
You know the one where she goes slice, cut, stab.
Kid Fury
You can mix both of them shits, baby.
Sean Ross
Put that on nasty track. That would be fast

Kid Fury
I love what you said a second ago. Like, younger, typically white club goers, partygoers, and how for them, it really doesn't need to be anything more than. Do you have any more coke? Let's do something, girl.
Sean Ross
Do you have any coke?
Kid Fury
I'm going to the bar.
Sean Ross
Hey, do you want a bar?
Kid Fury
What do you want?
Sean Ross
Do you want a bump?
Kid Fury
Do you have some K?
Sean Ross
Do you want a bump?
Kid Fury
Let's do lying.
Sean Ross
Do you want a bump?
Kid Fury
Like that's all they want when it
Sean Ross
was just in the bathroom. Yeah, and mind you, we're, by the way, people to watch this. We're not racist. We can't be racist. We're black. But sometimes people need to be called out. I call on my black people for this shit too, but sometimes white people. And I have my white friends. And I'm not saying that in a way where people be like, well, I have black friends. No, I love white people. Are you kidding me? Like, I love white people because white people. I love white. Let me say what I love about white people, please. I love white people in their, like, carefree style. I love white people and their influence in music, even though black people created most genres. I love Sting.
Kid Fury
Oh, well, you know Sting.
Sean Ross
I mean, growing up. No Tino Shade. Our white people in music were black. I'm sorry.
Kid Fury
Name some.
Sean Ross
Our white people were inviting to the cookout. Our white people actually helped with the food. They helped. Britney definitely bought the Heinekens for sure. But you can't tell me that, like, Reba McEntire definitely didn't bring a casserole.
Kid Fury
There's some from our time that we still hold dear. It's them.
Sean Ross
I mean, Betty White definitely was passing kids the money like this and planting
Kid Fury
adults the blunt like this, okay?
Sean Ross
Like, we had. Our white people were very different. They were not just, like, basic white, like, you know what I'm saying? Even our rocker people, like, they were just. They were of it. You know what I'm saying? They were of it. They got with the times. They understood what was happening, some of it. And in some way along the way, some way along the way, white people became generic. And this is my message to let white people know, like, I am black. But don't let people make you feel like you don't have your spice. Because growing up, y' all motherfuckers had the spice. Because if you look at the 70s, white people was getting it in.
Kid Fury
Mm.
Sean Ross
Can y' all bring that back? I think that would. I always say, if white people got the spice back and men actually acknowledged their homosexuality tendencies that they have, because in reality, everybody's a little gay.
Kid Fury
I say that all the time.
Sean Ross
I say this. No one's really anything. I say to the gays, everybody's a little straight. And to the gay. And I say to the straights, everybody's a little gay. And to the gays, everybody's a little straight. Like, there's somewhere where we cheater, you know? Like, there's somewhere. But with that being said, it's like, I feel like if, like, when you look at war, it's only started by men. But it's like men that, like, wanna, like, low key. Like, fuck other men. Like, look at our presidents and leaders. Like, they low key. Wanna, like, get in bed with each other a little bit.
Kid Fury
They do Donald Trump terrible.
Sean Ross
If they got into bed with each other, I think that, like, world peace would happen. Like, you have to think about it. Like, even, like, women. Like, women don't really be starting stuff when you think about the Bible. The Bible's bullshit. No, Tino Shade. But my thing is that the Bible was written by men. By white men, for men. How many stories were written by women in the Bible? In the Bible. I mean, I will go to the store, get us food, and come back, and you will still not have an answer. And if there are any, there's not many.
Kid Fury
I don't know if there are.
Sean Ross
But then, you know, we.
Kid Fury
Genesis.
Sean Ross
I mean, but then we read the Bible where, you know, talk about Genesis, huh?
Kid Fury
It would be fierce if it was the last Genesis.
Sean Ross
Genesis. Written by Genesis.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
That's a perfume. But my thing is even, like, prime example, like, when you think of, like. Cause religion, that's a whole nother thing. But when you think about, like, God and, you know, the. I read this the other day, like, how many people did Satan kill? Far less. More than God.
Kid Fury
All right, I think we're getting spicy.
Sean Ross
I'm just saying, like, I found this out. You know how many people, you know in the Bible, you know how many people they say that the devil was responsible for killing? Almost like 10 people. Do you know how many people that they said that God was responsible for killing? Literally over like 300,000. The great flood. The list goes on.
Kid Fury
Oh, you mean like, world. Like, global event situation?
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Yes.
Sean Ross
And I'm just like, girl, what matrix are we in?
Kid Fury
I do think that this is the Sims.
Sean Ross
This is the Matrix.
Kid Fury
And I think, like, from a cosmic level, there are plenty other planets and civilizations out there that are God's much bigger priority. We're Zeus.
Sean Ross
This is the Truman Show.
Kid Fury
Yeah. This is now, that's tv. You know, this is baddies. And the sooner that we accept that none of us are getting a baddie chain, the better.
Sean Ross
The quicker we can accept that the world would be so good if first of all, we did the very thing that we learned when we were younger, minding our business. None of the girls like to mind their business because they're obsessed. And also, like, like the gays, we don't be doing nothing to y'. All. Why you in my bed? Why you in my bed? Like, okay, you don't like me, that's fine. Just don't like me over there. But then people are like, oh, no, but there's a gay agenda. And you know, y' all are teaching kids, baby, if there hasn't been agenda, it's the straight agenda. When you look at TV or even real life, why are we sexualizing kids to the point where you're at a cookout and you see this like six year old boy and it's like seven year old girl and you're like, oh, they're so cute. They're gonna get married when they get older. Why are you thinking that?
Kid Fury
I hate that.
Sean Ross
That's a little weird.
Kid Fury
Oh, he's gonna think that. That's all the girls.
Sean Ross
And listen, go look at old Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows. Like I was watching like, I love them, but I was watching like Suite Life with Zack and Cody. Right. And a show that I. But I looked at like even just like. And I'm not talking about this show specifically, but so many shows where little boys are sexualizing young girls where they were like, ooh, hubba hubba, like on
Kid Fury
like children's shows and stuff.
Sean Ross
It's like. But that's conditioning. That's conditioning a young 11 year old boy to do that to a young 11 year old girl. I thought about that because it's not an issue. Because gays were so the agenda were the problem.
Kid Fury
Yeah, I say the exact same thing. And I usually use that example, the former example of the way that, yeah, even me when I was a kid and I had maybe like another girl in school or a family friend had a daughter and she and I would get along great. Cause we're both, you know, black and beautiful. And it was like, oh, he's got a girlfriend. Oh, there's.
Sean Ross
Why are you doing that?
Kid Fury
And in my head I'm like, I mean, we're just both teeth. Like, I don't. She's cunt, I'm cunt.
Sean Ross
We're just sponges. And the thing about it is I always love the quote where it says like, you know, so I met this man one time. I don't wanna put their business out there, but I met this manager one day of a very, very big artist. He is a white man from the uk And I went to his house one time for a barbecue and I saw his son and he has a son. And I noticed his son was like walking around like in a princess outfit and playing with Barbie dolls. And I was like, so like taken back like. And I talked to him, I was like, yeah, he was like, he would go like and would say, I'll make up a name. Tony. Hey Tony, did you show Sean your new Barbies? And I'm like, am I in a dream? And I'm like, I had a conversation with a mother and a father and I'm just like, so what allowed y' all to do that. And you know what they said to me? They said, children are sponges and my child isn't doing anything wrong. My child is playing with a toy. And what I thought was the quote of refrain from being your child's first bully. And some of you parents don't realize that you're your child's first bully by simply telling them something that feels natural to them. I mean, let's get into it. Like, pink and blue was something that was implemented inside of hospitals in, like, the 1940s. Before, if you go back and look at old photos of Theodore Roosevelt, everybody wore white dresses and had long hair. And then you didn't cut your hair until you were six, so everybody thought everybody was a girl. So it was just really, really weird to, like, see that. But anywho, I'll let you continue.
Kid Fury
You know, I. I feel like first of all, you kind of gagged me with the doll thing because my EMDR therapist and I absolutely unwinding not getting dolls as a child. Why can't I have it? The Polly Pocket is fierce. It's a compact with three dolls in it.
Sean Ross
I got a doll when I was younger. I don't know about you.
Kid Fury
I had, like. I think the first doll that was purchased for me was the. The Justin Timberlake no Strings. Was it called no Strings?
Sean Ross
Oh, I had one of those. I didn't have one of those.
Kid Fury
My mom bought that for me that she knew. I think she was like, all right,
Sean Ross
Queen, here's the one.
Kid Fury
Yeah, just whatever. It's a boy. I guess you can have this. I do. I completely agree. Let me see what I thought. Okay. Oh, I know what I wanted to ask. So. Founder of Stardust amazing dance party. You DJ regularly, You stay, you know, in the know, in the nightlife. I wanna know something that's something that happens in nightlife at parties that gives you the ick. Whoa.
Sean Ross
Got another hour now. Something that happens in nightlife that gives me the ick. I think I talked a lot about it. Like, I don't really like how it's becoming one note. And that's not just even within house music, even with hip hop culture. One thing, I can't stand around in la, specifically, I think that there are a lot of great promoters that do great things. Like Brandon Anthony. Brandon Anthony. Like, you know, a lot of the black gay community in LA owes him a lot. Like, they do. Like, he literally like, y' all don't have no place to go if he does not exist. Respectfully, there aren't that Many one thing I just can't stand about, like a nightlife is like the girls standing around.
Kid Fury
True.
Sean Ross
Like they stand around and it's always like this meet and greet every time. Like the side hug. Like, hey girl, hey girl, don't touch me. Like, we do this every Friday and Sunday. Like it's a meet and greet. Like old meemaws. Like every. That gives me the ick.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
Another thing that gives me the ick is people showing up late.
Kid Fury
Okay, so you did cover your stream.
Sean Ross
Another thing that gives me the ick
Sponsor/Ad Voice
is
Sean Ross
the girls that are like chasing this, like, form of like numbness where it's like you're always going to the bathroom to like, do your drugs. Babes, you were just there a minute ago. Let it simmer I let it flow through you Let it flow through Let
Kid Fury
it flow through you.
Sean Ross
Um, what do you think of the G? I'm so. I'm out. I've never done G same. And I. And I. And I don't want to. I think it's kind of weird that the girls want to feel like they're
Kid Fury
so.
Sean Ross
This thing doesn't make sense to me. So they say G makes you feel drunk. So then why not just drink?
Kid Fury
I mean, I don't. Again, no shame. I've not tried it. Not saying I won't. I think what I'm saying is out of just curiosity. I think part of the reason I probably have not tried it is because you have to have a chemistry set to just do. So we're out at reload or something and you have a Bunsen burner and you have, you know, a torch crack, right? Like, you have an eyedropper and beakers and shit.
Sean Ross
I'm like, so the girls making modern day crack, right?
Kid Fury
And then one time a friend of mine who offered me some was like, wait, when's the last time you drank? Wait, what time is it? Okay. I don't know. I'm like, mighty good.
Sean Ross
I've seen people jeed out and it's kind of scary. Like, I remember one time I was at a party recently and I saw somebody, like, they had to carry them out. And it's kind of scary. Like their body's like, lifeless.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
And I'm just like diggings to a level. Like, again, it goes back to what I said. What are we trying to escape? They get to a certain point, like, I'll be honest with you, like, I had my moments. I used to do Molly, right? Like once in a blue moon, baby. I did Molly this one time and it was the last time. It was the last time. It was just like. Like, what is the. I told myself, like, what is the point? Like, what is the point? Like, this doesn't feel fun.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
All of this to experience a certain level of. Like, this doesn't feel fun. And so I think that a lot of people don't realize that they're running away from something. So they're trying to. They're extremists and they're trying to feel this. Like, yeah, yeah. Like, it's like, no.
Kid Fury
Yeah. Everything in moderation. Girl. If you're just blasting it without knowing how your body works, just get a
Sean Ross
Long island or AMF or my new favorite thing. And I know I'm late to the party, so I have this thing where I love trying nostalgic drinks that I feel like were happening in the 2000s and I did not try them, but I love drinking an Incredible Hulk. Oh, my God.
Kid Fury
Where were you?
Sean Ross
I don't know. But hypnotic in Hennessy with a little bit of pineapple juice.
Kid Fury
That's how I know I'm a hood rat. Cause I feel like that might have been my first drink.
Sean Ross
It was so good. I love it. I want one now.
Kid Fury
That was the drink when I was, like, early 20s.
Sean Ross
Like, I literally. Like, I think this is so bad. Like, I just got the taste in my mouth. I want one now.
Kid Fury
That's wild. Like, I.
Sean Ross
It is specific.
Kid Fury
It is a specific. A specific thing. That was one where when I was younger, it was like, you drinking that? Who's taking you home?
Sean Ross
Let me get one after this. Like, I want one. Like, I really want one. Mind you, I shouldn't be drinking. Cause I'm on antibiotics. You wanna know why I'm on antibiotics? Why I got that stomach bug that's going around.
Kid Fury
I was afraid I had it.
Sean Ross
Let me tell y' all about this. When I tell you I don't care tmi. That stomach bug. And I know where I got it from. I never usually eat packaged salad, but I did. That thing tore me up. Like, it tore me up in a way where I literally went to the er because I'm like, there's no way that I am peeing out my ass this way.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Sean Ross
Like, there's no way that. Like, it's just no way that. Like, so everybody, if you go and you get it, go immediately to the emergency room and get your Bactrim and make sure that they give you a saline IV with Toradol and some Zopran. Like, it is the most excruciating pain that I have ever felt in my stomach ever.
Kid Fury
Yeah, so I don't think I did have it then.
Sean Ross
So I don't know if I should be drinking, but I think one won't hurt.
Kid Fury
I mean, the Incredible Hulk, all he does is hurt.
Sean Ross
Water, water, water. But, yeah, I think those are my icks, though, when it comes to, like, club life is that the girls not dancing, the girls just, like, staring at the DJ booth. Like, I need the girls to start losing it. Like, I need y' all to get a little crazy.
Kid Fury
Like, you think they just come out to, like, oh, like, this is the hangout spot.
Sean Ross
It's very much culture around the world now where people are talking. Why are we talking? Why are we. That's a ick. Why are we talking in the club? Don't try to have a conversation with me when literally the freaking volume is literally, like, 109 decibels. Like, don't do it.
Kid Fury
I can't hear you. I don't want to hear you right now.
Sean Ross
And last but not least, not only are you talking to me, and aloud, you're talking to me with liquor breath. There's nothing like hot, dry, hot, dry vodka breath.
Kid Fury
Or gin, bitch.
Sean Ross
Or gin. I can't stand a hot tequila breath. And you have the audacity with all these H words. How are you doing?
Kid Fury
Hey, girl. Have you had.
Sean Ross
Oh, my God.
Kid Fury
The hot toddy.
Sean Ross
The bees. The bees. Hey, babe. Hey, babe. Girl, you didn't smell your breath? It's bouncing off my face. I know. You gotta be smelling your breath. I know. That HB sound is bouncing off my nose and going back to yours. That's an ick.
Kid Fury
That is probably the biggest ick of all of them. If I had to ask, what are. What is a. I got some flack for this. Some podcasts ago, I named a song or two that I was tired of DJs playing, but it was primarily the same mix over and over again.
Sean Ross
So you wanna know what songs I'm tired of hearing?
Kid Fury
Yep.
Sean Ross
You ready to get canceled?
Kid Fury
Sure.
Sean Ross
I am tired of people spending that spend that shit.
Kid Fury
Listen, I'm not canceling you for it.
Sean Ross
I'm tired of spending that.
Kid Fury
They had to hogtie me and shove it down my throat.
Sean Ross
I am tired of spend that, and I'm gonna tell you why. So first of all, shout out to Caresha.
Kid Fury
Girl, get your point, Miami Diva.
Sean Ross
I love seeing a black woman get get it and get it. But what I do not like is why are the songs that, like, semi degrade us become so popular? You know, I saw that India Arie was getting a lot of slack, and I talked to India Arie on the phone, and I told her, like, I get it, I get it. Like, sometimes you have to understand music are spells.
Kid Fury
I say that all the time, too.
Sean Ross
Music is spells. And I ask people, like, why do you like it? And you know what kills me? I had a friend, I was like, why do you like it? And they're like, yeah, I don't like it, but it's catchy. So you admitted that you don't like it, but it's catchy. Doesn't that ring a bell? That's a spell, babes.
Kid Fury
Cause I said something similar, too. First of all, in my defense, I hated it proudly and openly when I first heard it. And then, Nick, the first time I heard it, same. I not only hated it for the first time I heard it, I was upset with people telling her it was good. And Crystal was like, you have to listen to it. Sped up like 1.5.
Sean Ross
All right.
Kid Fury
I listened to it, and I'm like, this is.
Sean Ross
No, this. Given they cloned Tyrone.
Kid Fury
This is more like audible. Like, I can. This sounds like a song.
Sean Ross
And she has other songs I like. Yeah, of course. Like, I would. I would always. I love is Young Miami and I Brother and my Stack. Like, period. Girls love that. Like, I love that. Like. Like, that song act up. You can get snap. Like, that's a song that will forever be in the repertoire of, like, the hip hop genre for me. Like, y' all girls is y' all big one with that. But I also feel, like, low key that City Girls are gonna do, like, a reunion.
Kid Fury
I think so, too. That's only a matter.
Sean Ross
And all the girls in the black. Oh, yes. And I'd be like, yes, yes. Like, do that thing. But that song I can't stand. And I would say one more. I can't stand. What's a song that gives me an ick today?
Kid Fury
I said I'm tired of. Wait, which one was it? Oh, Poison was the one.
Sean Ross
I said, how does Poison go?
Kid Fury
That girl is.
Sean Ross
Okay, so you're getting in the fact of. Okay, so this is another conversation where you're getting tired. Okay, okay. Black DJs. I love that we. I'm tired of the cookout music at the club all the time before I let go at the club every time I'm tired. And I'm. And I'm not even talking about Beyonce's. I love Beyonce's. I'm just talking about the fact of, like, the fact That I know that you're gonna play the original, and then it's gonna follow Beyonce's I Love My Girl Beyonce. It's the fact that y' all are not thinking of new ways. Exactly. To implement the song.
Kid Fury
Exactly.
Sean Ross
The song's not an issue. But it's like, even when I go to, like, black events, like, you know, we go to a lot of these industry events. Right. I find it a little racist that when I go to black events, that all I'm hearing is clickout music. I want to hear black house music.
Kid Fury
Especially when I'm like, okay, you're playing this. I know you about to play this. And I know you about to play this. And then I know it will likely climax with Never would've made it over. Never, never, never, never, never, never. I don't wanna make it anymore.
Sean Ross
I don't. And it's the thing. It's like DJs are not becoming creative anymore, and they're following a thing that works. But you wanna know why? This is also our problem. Most of the crowd hates it, but they're not gonna tell about. And so therefore, because a conversation. The same way how straight people don't have their conversations about sex, which is why straight sex is kind of boring. They're not having the conversation. So therefore no one's winning.
Kid Fury
Very, very, very, very true.
Sean Ross
No one's telling them. And the DJs are not telling them. They're tired of playing it.
Kid Fury
They just know they're gonna play swag, surf, and then people are gonna do it.
Sean Ross
You got me riding through my old hood.
Kid Fury
Oh, my God.
Sean Ross
Same old attitude.
Kid Fury
I be like, you wouldn't even mix it with something else. Like, give me, like, jazz it up. That's why everyday people. This past Sunday, I had such a good time.
Sean Ross
Everybody told me Brian Henry killed his set.
Kid Fury
It what? Like, he tore.
Sean Ross
Cause, you know, let me tell you something about Brian. Brian has so much influence. Brian's a traveling devo. Like, literally, like, Brian will. Literally. I'm like, brian, where you at? I'm in Zanzibar.
Kid Fury
Bali.
Sean Ross
Okay. Where you at? Bali. Okay. Where you at? I'm in D.C. okay. Or whatever. Brian is super obsessed with, like, the whole Brazilian culture. And he lives in it, goes to Bahia, all of those different things. And he adopts sounds with even him coming from Baltimore, you know what I'm saying? And so he's like, you know, I'm no longer pleasing people. I'm playing what I want to play, and I need more of that. Play what you want to play. And that's the thing, a true artist. Let me say something. Do you have DJs that are what we call a pay for hire? I am not that. I strictly play house music and I play black house music because of what I want to hear. I am an artist and I create a sound design. You either get with it or you don't.
Kid Fury
Like, I literally agree. I couldn't. I mean, I know Brian and I know his sound and performance well. I always know I'm in a good time when I see Brian Henry name on air. But overall, I wish I could remember the name of the other person who DJed. But I walked away from that event and I said, you know what I appreciate about this event with all these black people and these black people. I heard two different mixes of Morning Dew Dunk. Neither one of them was the original one. But this song came out what, a week or so ago. And these DJs came and they were like, I know y' all want to hear this. Yeah, you're going to hear it my way. Both of them tour like there is effort in it. And I think that once again to your point, when you the artist are enjoying it and having a good time and playing what you're passionate about, we gonna have a good time too. Cause I for sure heard some Brazilian shit in there. Don't know a word. But I was shaking as.
Sean Ross
Because people have to understand. It's like the issue is, is that we are attaching music is becoming identity. And even when it comes to the young gays, I just said this the other day like no Tino shade. But like even like the young gays, like I don't know what this obsession with this is now. All the young gays, the young black gays want to be their favorite black female rapper. All the black gays are now like female rappers now. Like they're either a barb or you are either a city girl or you are the coconut water or you like, like you are, you are your like favorite black rap female artist. And you take that into the world and it equates to mean girls. See, the thing about it is what a lot of these young gays have to understand is that a lot of the female rap artists game, it is literally fueled by hate. It is fueled by dissing, it is fueled by anger, it is fueled by feud. And that's. I mean, it is.
Kid Fury
I definitely think that like female hip hop is. I mean hip hop is competition, it's competitive.
Sean Ross
It never was. We have to acknowledge where the first competition started. The first competition started between Lil Kim and Foxy Brown. Before then, all of the rap girls got along.
Kid Fury
I mean, well, think about it.
Sean Ross
All of them were hanging out with each other. Eve. All of them? Yes, all of the rap groups. The males had their own girls, their first ladies, but they all got along.
Kid Fury
I was gonna say, I'm thinking NC Light and Roxanne Shantae, but they got into it with men.
Sean Ross
Yeah, but that's a little bit different. But the way we see feuds today really, really started with Lil Kim and Foxy Brown.
Kid Fury
That was one that was like. I think that might be the one. I remember being, like, deep. Like, it was like, more than.
Sean Ross
And then what followed after that?
Kid Fury
Yeah, they still don't like each other.
Sean Ross
I mean, but then what followed after that? Then I think it was. Was it.
Kid Fury
I grew up on Biggie, Pac, Jay Z, Nas.
Sean Ross
I'm talking about only women. Oh, I think after that, wasn't it? What's her name? Lean Back.
Kid Fury
Oh, Remy.
Sean Ross
Remy and Lil Kim, wasn't it?
Kid Fury
Remy and Kim were into it for a minute, but then they got cool, did a record together, which I loved.
Sean Ross
Right. My thing is, if only the girls knew, like, you know what I want? I want a nasty gossip track, right? With Lil Kim on it. Nicki, I want Cardi on it. I just want all of the girls to just do one long song, Telephone. And they're talking about their life.
Kid Fury
How do you see that playing itself out, even?
Sean Ross
I want them to even bring in the younger girls, like Dreezy or like Lola Brooke.
Kid Fury
They're so underrated. Them, too.
Sean Ross
Or what's her name?
Kid Fury
London London Hill or Lady London?
Sean Ross
Lady London. Like, you know, like, implement them in, like, even Doja. Like, I think, like, I want to see, like, Doja and Dochi on a song together that feels, like, possible and
Kid Fury
possibly around the corner. Unless it is a thing where them two don't like each other.
Sean Ross
Nah, I don't think it's like that. I don't think they. I think they love each other. But Dochi and Doja, ooh, I do
Kid Fury
think now that we're as far as the female rap girls. I think that we're in a space where there are a lot of them and more of them seem to at least intend to start. Like, I wanna just embrace the other girls. I'm seeing way more rap girls than that.
Sean Ross
It always starts out like that in some way down the road, somewhere down
Kid Fury
the road, something gets in the way.
Sean Ross
It's always a beef. Because you wanna know why it's the cheat code. It's the cheat code. If we make these two artists against each other now you are all literally falling into a feud, and now you're following it, and now you're. It's the cheat code. And the girls fall for it every year.
Kid Fury
The labels do it are, like, a lot of people on their teams either push it or encourage it or kind of, like manipulate it. And then sometimes it's just flat out fans, and I can't stand that shit either when it's like, no.
Sean Ross
These girls literally be, like, thinking that they are in the room with these artists. Like, no. What I think is delusional is when you have a fan, right, that is talking about, like, stuff like, whatever. And they're like, no, because caresha. Da da da da da baby. You don't know her. You don't even know where she live. You never met her. But y' all are talking the way that you think you know these people. But then I don't blame them because what has also happened is that you artists have let these people into your life. There's no more mystery with artists anymore.
Kid Fury
Have you seen that clip of City Girls where someone asked them, what is one thing that you really want people to know about City Girls? And JT was like, I really, really, really want people to know that we do not give a fuck. And Caresha was like, oh, my God. I was just gonna say that.
Sean Ross
They don't. I was at a party. I remember I was at a dinner. I was at a dinner. Amber Mark invited me to this dinner that happened at Saks, right? And I freaking love jt. I love her. Mind you, if you know Amber Mark, Amber Mark is like, so, like, somber and, like, chill. And she's like. She's like, like, singing over, like, this guitar. And we're at the seated dinner, and JT's sitting in front of me. We're at a dinner table, and all you hear is the gum.
Kid Fury
That's us.
Sean Ross
And I'm like, jt.
Kid Fury
And she.
Sean Ross
Oh, my bad. And I'm just like, so very much. They don't give a fuck. But I do love jt. JT is like, super sweet, like, very
Kid Fury
kind, so pretty, very talented. She's another one, actually, both of them. But JT solo, I'm like, girl, give me the dance. Give me a little bit of that house. Because act up a couple of their records, maybe. What's it called? Twerkillator. City Girls was kind of playing with, like, Miami bass and house and stuff like that. And I Thought that it worked. Nine worlds.
Sean Ross
They have hit records like City Girls. I don't know. I don't know why they broke up. I don't think they should have ever broke up. But, like, they got hits. I think they're better together than a friend.
Kid Fury
Same, same. Absolutely. Well, I think we're wrapping this up. Cause I done spent a lot of your time. But before we go, I would like for you to share anything else that you would like to say. Unless we should save it for a part two. And what you have coming up that you'd like to share with the people.
Sean Ross
Well, still DJing. Have some stuff coming up. I'm very excited. I don't know when this will come out, but we'll be playing Rhonda on August 1st, so you should come. I'm playing also Glitter Box and Ibiza. And Ibiza. Ibiza, Ibiza, Ibiza. A few things coming up. I'm also working on my second album, which is. A lot of people don't know I'm R and B. You know what I'm saying? Soul Electronics. So I'm working on my second album. And then I would say, like, this is gonna be random. But I don't know. I just feel compelled to say this. I feel like a lot of people have been going through shifts in life. Losing friends, losing lovers, all kinds of things. Like. And I've lost a lot of friends. Like, no, they still alive. But, like, some of y' all hoes don't like to take accountability. And I want people to start getting better at taking accountability and understanding that when you exit people's lives, you know, just exit. Right? Without any type of warning, any type of, let's talk about this. Stay there. You wanna know why? Because you made that decision on your own. And for me, I'm a person, like a friend that I can always. We can talk it out. I'm always willing to learn. But I had to realize that we are around a lot of unhealed people, and some of y' all are friends with a lot of unhealed people. And one thing that Duran Bernard said to me is that just. Just. He said, just let the trash take itself out.
Kid Fury
Love, Durand.
Sean Ross
Love Durand.
Kid Fury
Yes. Let the trash take itself out. I think that was a perfect way to end things. I couldn't agree any more. People are going through shifts every day. Something happens. So if you already haven't gotten a chance to, like, center yourself, do some healing, do whatever kind of spiritual, emotional work, and then you wake up and it's like, you had some bagged salad and now you are pissing out of both of your eyes. It's like, well, when do I get the time to calm down? Mm. You know, but is that my fault or business?
Sean Ross
No, with that.
Kid Fury
Girls, my name is Kid Fury. This is Sean Ross. Can you tell them where to find you on the.

This episode of "Furious Thoughts" welcomes the multi-faceted Shaun Ross—supermodel, musician, DJ, and ballroom legend—to unpack culture, nightlife, and the evolution of queerness and house music. Kid Fury and Shaun offer a candid, nostalgic, and raw critique of the current state of club life, black queer aesthetics, the dance music scene, and what it means to build something unique—like Shaun's celebrated party, Stardust. The discussion is lively and honest, filled with personal memories, hot takes, and advice for both the party scene and the culture at large.
“I am a specific breed for a specific person. I am not for everybody, and I don’t want to be for everybody. Some of y’all be out here trying to be for everybody, and you wonder why you fall in the cracks like, no, that’s an ick.”
— Shaun Ross (00:26, 27:14, and 79:09)
“Femininity as true courage—it takes guts to be a man, especially as a femme man.”
— Shaun Ross (27:14)
“Play me what you listen to in your house…even though it may be weird to someone else, it may not be because you’re like, wait a minute, you’re playing Sergio Mendes. I listen to Sergio Mendes too.”
— Shaun Ross (13:09)
“We used to listen to Eve, we used to listen to Foxy Brown and turn around and listen to Green Day and Pink…As a Black person, we didn’t just listen to R&B and hip hop.”
— Shaun Ross (14:33)
“I blame social media…social media gave everybody a voice. That’s the positive. The negative is social media gave everybody a voice.”
— Shaun Ross (37:05)
“What happened to the fab gays? Gays used to be so fab. And I’m like, she’s so right. It’s like the gays have become so generic.”
— Quoting Azealia Banks, Shaun Ross (18:47)
“House music…it's not that it’s been lost. It’s been pushed to the side.”
— Shaun Ross (45:32)
“Nightlife for the gays sucks in New York. When we were coming up, you had at least three or four things you could do every single day as a black person…now all we have is lambda.”
— Shaun Ross (55:22)
“Let the trash take itself out.”
— Durand Bernard via Shaun Ross (95:01)
This episode is a vibrant, occasionally irreverent, but deeply thoughtful critique and celebration of queer, black nightlife and house music. Shaun offers both wisdom and nostalgia, inviting listeners to embrace individuality, step onto the dance floor, and “play what you actually love.” It's required listening (or reading!) for anyone who misses “the fab gays,” questions the current state of parties, or wants to see house music—and queer black culture—restore its innovative soul.
