Hello everyone and welcome back to the new Gals on the Go. I'm Danielle.
B
And I'm Brooke. Happy Wednesday.
A
Happy, happy Wednesday. This is a super exciting Wednesday. Think of it as Christmas morning, if you will.
B
It is. And we're on unboxing a new gift for you all, which is the new Gals on the go. Gals 2.0. You got the supercharged model, you know, it's, you know, you got the like, it's like the iPhone 15, but gals like, yeah.
A
Three terabytes, the most amount of storage you can get, everything. Guys, we are so excited. It's just such a journey. It's actually so crazy that sometime in August we posted our first episode. Right. Of Gals in the Go.
B
Yeah.
A
Seven years ago.
B
So seven years later, here we are. I feel like there's been constant iterations of the gals, but like this time I feel like it's really, it's elevated.
A
It'S giving luxury, loud luxury. We have been wanting to do this for quite some time, but we wanted to do it right. We wanted to feel really good about it. We wanted to really embody who we are as people. Now as gals on the go, we've had I on the count of my hand. I think we've had three other covers. Right. We had the one I made literally on like Pick Monkey that you did.
B
So great with that one though that, that ate it up at the time.
A
Yeah. And then, and then we had a.
B
Illustrative one with the taxi. Yes. And then we had the one with our faces on it.
A
Oh yeah, that was a big deal. We had never had our faces.
B
The picture. Yeah.
A
Which was our last one.
B
We look, we look so different. We were giving children. Yeah.
A
Pink and purple loofah shirts.
B
Oh, but it was so gals at the time, you know, And I'm sure we'll look back at this one then and say, oh, at the time.
A
Ye. And they just loved it. And I did not mean loofah as a negative thing, cuz I still love those outfits. Like I thought that was so fun and cute.
B
It was just so. It was that era of gals and now it's, it's giving like, you know.
A
Chic, sophisticated white tea and cargos. I'm in my silky pants.
B
I got called in for a conference.
A
Yes. Thanksgiving. Like, I know. I feel like I've called you in. I feel like I'm like, when I used to go to piano recitals, like, this is what I would wear.
B
Oh my gosh, it so is. Yes.
A
So as I was leaving, I was like, oh, interesting. Cuz Brooke and I were talking about what to wear and we were like, we have to dress like the Danielle.
B
Said, cool girl, neutral. So I said, okay.
A
Car. No, that's definitely like the vibe. And I went for. I don't even know. I was thinking of the COVID and I was thinking of like our shoulder pads and prints.
B
Oh my gosh, that. The shoot was so fun, guys. So if you've seen all the content we posted on socials, if you don't already follow our podcast, Instagram, like, I. I don't know what you're doing. Like, we. We put our blood, sweat and tears into this account. So like, please go follow it.
A
Yes. Today' day to go follow it. And check out the video that we posted as kind of like the rebrand video to kind of just embody and you know, if you're wondering what does this rebrand mean? Well, a new look. As you. If you guys are watching on YouTube, we always have this screen behind us with our logo. And this is our new logo.
B
I like it a lot. I feel like it's. It's good for the new era of gals. I like the G. I feel like we can do a lot with that.
A
Like a cursive G, simple text with the brown background. We did have. We have some new mic flags coming too. So, like, while we're recording the podcast, we. We did have them, but we got the wrong size because who knew? Universal mic is not universal, actually.
B
Okay. Peeling back the curtain.
A
Peeling back the curtain, you know, and. And then our cover, of course it was actually. How do you think the process of picking out the COVID was this time? Like, I feel like our last one, we literally had to like it. We had to like, edit the light on my face. Remember? Because it was on your face. I forget which face.
B
Yes, there was. It was really, like, hard to find ones that we both liked. And I feel like this one was a bit easier to find ones that we. I mean, we. There was a lot of images like, which. And the shoot itself, like, all of the photos were great. I feel like we were choosing between, like such little details.
A
Yeah.
B
Changed, you know, 100.
A
It was like hair in blowing in the wind.
B
Exactly.
A
The COVID We actually use a little AI to fix something. Not to. We were not edited. No Photoshop was used in that sense. But there was. We really liked this photo. It was, like one of the few photos that Brooke and I were both like, a obsessed with. Like, we felt like it was cover worthy. And Madison Lane photo shot it. And I said to her, because there was like a huge piece of hair in my face, and I was like, could you edit that out? And she was like, actually, yes. And I think she literally used AI.
B
In Photoshop, apparently in photo.
A
And so Photoshop was used. Yes, yes.
B
No.
A
But that's moved it.
B
And I think that that's what people use it for completely, so. But it was used in a good way. We had so many amazing photos. There's so much to choose from. That was, like, my first time doing, like, a real shoot like that, and it was just.
A
Yeah.
B
So fun. Multiple look, hair, makeup. Like, stylist. Yeah, stylist. Oh, my gosh. That was so fun to like. We, like, went the night before and tried on all the looks and, like, got them all set fitting, a real.
A
Fitting, and we were so happy. I remember we worked with Zoe Goffman and she was like, you guys are so decisive. I love it. Yeah, like, yeah, we know.
B
And she taught me so many things. I have to say, I feel like this is why celebrities have, like, you know, even if they aren't constantly working with the stylist or constantly working with hair and makeup, they're just good at it because they learn. Because, you know, people are doing it on them and they learn the tips and tricks. I have to say, like, that is definitely why. So it's like, you're not. Not hot. It's just celebrities have access to these things. I'm gonna tell you, like, because simply, you learn a lot when you have, like, people who deal with, like, you know, those type of clients, like, helping you. And one thing that Zoe Goffman taught me, I'm wearing her today, My new Spanish bodysuit.
A
Today.
B
I just got in the mail and I was just.
A
Let me take her for a spin.
B
I need to put it on immediately. She put me in a Spanx. No, it's not spank.
A
Sorry, Skims.
B
Oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry.
A
You know what's crazy? I knew that's what you meant. Wow, that's freaky.
B
Wow, that is so freaky.
A
We also love Spanx for other things.
B
I do love them. No, it is skims. I don't know why I Just thought of that. Because I thought of, like, that it's like a real snatchy winner, but it's the skims bodysuit. She was like, hey, wear this under everything. Like, it's just. You're gonna love it. And. And she, like, gave it to me because. For the day. Because, you know, you. Yeah, all of your outfits. And I felt amazing. And I was like, what is this called? Like, ordered it for myself immediately. Immediately. I. So we'll link that in the newsletter and everything.
A
Yeah.
B
You learn, like, little tips and tricks. Did you learn any tips and tricks from the stylist?
A
No, I definitely. Well, I was gonna say I feel like you especially have gotten really good at your makeup from, like, getting your makeup done. And so, I don't know, I feel like. And I've learned a couple things. Not much, but styling that day. I'm trying to think if I.
B
Or anything just in general about hair. Hair and makeup. I mean, the whole crew was amazing. Of course we use Kat for makeup, as always. Allison was so great for hair. That was my first time using her shout out to everybody.
A
Katie Lovelace made the video. Am I forgetting anyone?
B
Bianca. Bianca.
A
Bianca, Our amazing creative director of the shoot.
B
And it was great. It was like such a great team of like all gals. And everybody was so encouraging and, like, the vibes were just right. It was really nice.
A
It was a really fun day. And we did. We basically did a whole day of shooting in mainly different forms of transportation. So we shot in front of taxis. We found this taxi line by Grand Central Terminal, which was sick. We shot on escalators. We shot. We shot on the subway. We shot on the vintage car. We, like, literally rented a vintage car. We could not touch it. Or we couldn't. We could touch it. We couldn't drive it. We had. What was his name? Oh, it was a good name. Philippe. Felipe or something.
B
Yes.
A
He drove the car in.
B
He rolled it from Brooklyn. He came from Bushwick. He had his vintage car. And you can like, rent a vintage car by the hour. I told my dad, he to do this, cuz my dad has so many cars and you just use it for like. He. Felipe said he had another booking that day and then another one the next day. I was all these bookings for this car.
A
And we know what we paid him.
B
I know. I was like, okay, so I think that we should get into the used car business for sets.
A
Like, no, it was genius. And he had just cleaned it and it was. Oh, it was so fun. And we shot. Oh, my God. We have to tell everyone where. Hamilton Park. Was that the name of it in Jersey. You guys, if you want to get cool photos of the whole entire Manhattan skyline, like literally go to Hamilton Park, Jersey City. And I think there's a walkway. I do want to go back and like walk along it. Yeah, we set up the car and that's how we got our cover, the sick. And we, I think we knew going into it, like that's probably going to be the COVID didn't we?
B
Definitely. No, because it's a kind of a nod to two covers ago. Yeah, a nod. The picture or the COVID photo was us in a taxi. It was an illustrative photo. It was like you and me, like in a taxi cab with the skyline behind us.
A
And you were in the front, I was in the back. Like she was the driver, I was the passenger.
B
We'll do a side by side. We could. We'll put in the newsletter for sure.
A
Yeah. It was really special when you put it together. You were like, wait, guys. Cuz the photo, that's our cover now. It's Brook's in the front, I'm in the back. We've got the skyline behind us.
B
It's really cute. It's very full circle.
A
It's really full circle. And I'm. I'm so excited. Like I just. It's so our vibe right now and I'm just like feeling extra excited about it. So that's like the physical rebrand. If you're watching on YouTube, there's a new YouTube intro. Of course. Like we had guys, we had to think about it. We were like, okay, if we're doing a rebrand, what does that look like? We have to get a new YouTube channel banner.
B
Yeah, we did the whole like sweep. Like everything. Basically we're like, let's profile picture. Yeah, new profile pictures.
A
Check it out. Like, seriously, people are going to wake up on Wednesday and be like, what? Because we've had that profile picture forever.
B
I know when you see that little icon change. Yeah. It's gonna be a big change for everybody.
A
It's gonna be. Oh. I have a confession. What is it that I didn't tell you or Bianca? We were trying to see what the new profile picture was. Bianca was doing. You're doing it on Canva. I didn't tell you this yesterday. She was doing it on Canva because, you know, you don't want to accidentally set the profile picture. But I didn't know that's what she was doing at the time. So I'm. We were like all going back and forth, trying to like zoom it in perfectly so that on Wednesday it airs. So I went on the gals and go Instagram and I was like, like, oh, let me see. And then I pressed done. I was like, oh.
B
And it did set as the profile.
A
Photo for two seconds. Thank God I have all those folders on my phone. Yeah, yeah. And so I immediately had the photo.
B
Oh, you would had it, right. I would have been like, I don't even know where to find this. You have all the photos very categorically organized.
A
I've got my variables. Thank you. Well, yes, I, for five seconds was panicking and then I was like, oh, well, maybe that's what Bianca's doing too. So she'll see and she'll change it back. And I was like, no, she's doing it the right way.
B
Oh, that's so funny. So I went in there too and was playing around, but I didn't hit save. I was just, you know, I thought.
A
You had to press it twice. I thought there were two buttons, but it was just.
B
Yeah, it's just the one that says done.
A
So if you were looking for about probably 15 seconds, you might have seen the new profile. So sorry, guys. That did happen yesterday.
B
That's okay. That wasn't. I don't think that's as big as the COVID That would be a big deal. Yeah, that would have been, you know, really, that was like under in Margot. Like that was like locked up. Like we, we showed friends and family, like very tight knit circles. I also didn't want to get too many opinions. I was like, I love it. Yeah, no, I love it. Like, I love it. I don't really care about anybody else's video except for me.
A
Like, we're obsessed. Yeah. And that's that. And no, it's awesome. So now we have all these photos from the shoot to play around with and do all the things. But as for like what this means for gals on the go, of course, it's just we're the gals. We're always going to be here. We're always elevating and always up in the ante, if you will. But we really. And I feel like the last few months I feel like we've been even more unfiltered and even more transparent with you guys. Not that we're never transparent, but just like really trying to make this like raw and real for you guys.
B
Totally. And really letting ourselves be authentic as we are in new phases of life. Yeah, I think that's the key Theme is, like, we've been doing this for seven years. So, like, literally, I mean, like, we keep. We always say, like, we're in college. We're in college. But, like, we cannot reiterate that enough. Like, we were in college, and we've gone through, like, the phase of being freshly post grad, and then, you know, really, like, getting comfortable in the city, and now we're going into, like, new phases of life. And I feel like so many of you guys have grown up with us, and it's like, okay, like, I'm 28. Like, you're. You're almost 27.
A
Almost barely still holding on.
B
Yeah. Like, we should be talking about, like, adult conversation.
A
Like, you know what I mean?
B
Yeah. We're. It's Gals After Dark.
A
After Dark. Like, I feel like our Nantucket episode really embodied what we just want to give.
B
Yeah.
A
Sued.
B
Yeah.
A
So. And you said something the other day, which I feel like is so on point with. We want you guys to be in on the inside joke.
B
Yes, exactly. I feel like a lot of things come to light on this show. Just, like, little bits and whatever. And you guys clearly like that too.
A
Yeah. You're in on the joke.
B
I love it. I love laughing along to a podcast. I look like an idiot walking down the road laughing.
A
I know, but, you know, it's fun. I was cackling on our nan. Tuck it up. So we were getting tech from some of the girls that were on the trip, like, dying, laughing, quoting us. They were, like, loving it because it was recapping, you know, everything that happened. So that made us really happy. But, yeah, I feel like if we go on a trip or something happens, we immediately come here, and then it's so fun if we have a story about, like, extra vanilla or something, and then we meet someone in person and we say extra vanilla, and they get it. Like, we just want more of that. We want you guys to be in on the joke with us. And we're just so grateful to so many of you who have been here since day one. Like, seriously, it's the coolest thing. Like, we say this all the time, but, like, I don't know if we'd start a podcast this year, you know, because there's so many podcasts. But since we started seven years ago and you guys really believed in us, there's so many of you that have stayed and we've gotten new listeners, of course, and it's just so fun.
B
It's truly so much fun. I always say. I'm like, it doesn't feel like work, you know, people ask me about it.
A
Like, I know.
B
No, when we just sit here and chat, like, I feel like you know, people. How do you come up with the topics? Whatever. I'm like, that is like the, like, the least hard part about it.
A
Like, I know you're so.
B
I think the actual logistics. Yes, it's of course. And making business decisions and like, things that are. I hate making big decisions.
A
Oh, my God.
B
Like, I hate it when it comes down to it. And it's like you don't know. Like, the thing about big decisions is you don't know if there's. There's no. It's not like a test where there's like a right answer and a wrong answer. It's like these are two paths and it too.
A
And we have two heads and we have to like. And I feel like whenever we're trying to make decisions, it's like, but I don't know. You let me know. Like, you're both like, but Idk, you know, you have to protect yourself a little.
B
You know, sometimes I wish that there was just someone like, and there are people guiding us. Like, we have a lot of great people that are involved, but at the same time, it's like, it's ultimately our decision. And sometimes I don't want it to be my decision.
A
It's like, okay, gals, what do you think? Ask me tomorrow. I don't want to make this decision. With summer in full swing, I feel that familiar urge to refresh my closet. A
We'Ve had to make a series of decisions in the last, like, few months. I feel like, and it's just so many choices, but oh, my God, you know. Oh, yeah, we've already talked about the company, but.
B
Well, the company, yeah, but we have.
A
A company now, so the company is.
B
Really full circle, guys. Like, we have. We keep making jokes. You know, we've got the company card, we've got the company, but that's new. Yeah.
A
Did we say that already on the podcast?
B
No, I don't think so.
A
We had a big girl meeting. We made our own gals in the Go bank account. We. We share a bank account. I know we're connected in a financial way.
B
We posted a picture. I post a picture of Danielle, and we were at the bank. Like, I was posting something about your gum. Yeah, you thought of your gum. And people were by. They're like, are you guys at a car dealership?
A
It looks like we had the DMV or something.
B
Yeah, we were like. I know. We were like, at, like, the bank, like, setting up our account, like a.
A
Private desk area, but it was giving sterile. Like, what are they doing?
B
Yeah, it was. I know. It was really humbling too, to say, like, oh, we're setting up a business account. They're like, okay, like, you know, tell us, like, about the business and, like, what, you know, amount of money you're bringing, whatever. And like we said. And they're like, okay, you're gonna go for this account. Then I was like, well, why don't you tell us about the other accounts? And they were like, those are for if you're making significantly more money. Yeah. I was like, oh, no worries. We'll be in the lowest category.
A
Yeah. That's completely. One thing about Brooks. She's gonna ask questions. She's like, no, you gotta negotiate in these meetings. I was like, okay. And thank God for her because seriously, that's where one of her strengths and my weaknesses. She was like, no, but why aren't you showing me that one? Or. But is there interest on that? Like, it was so impressive.
B
I have learned a few things, I feel like, from. From my parents. One thing about my parents, like, they would bring me to the appointments. Like, would your mom and dad, like, bring you to, like, the boring ass appointments?
A
But you. You would listen.
B
I would sometimes. One of my dad brought me to the lumber yard. I didn't listen when he was buying sheets of plywood, you know, And I was like, I don't need to know what's going on now.
A
You know how to order that? No, it was very impressive. But that's really exciting. Like, we've got a company card.
B
We do.
A
Bank account.
B
Yeah. We did a company training session the other day.
A
Like, what is our brand? Like, we literally guys were deciding, like, what emojis we like.
B
Company Culture.
A
Company culture. Like how what we. Who is she? Who is the gal that's listening?
B
No, we have birthday traditions now.
A
We have the company birthday traditions. You get donuts. You know, I'm obsessed with this new. Yeah. Little bit we have. It's so into it.
B
It's really fun. I mean, we keep saying the business partner bit is my favor favorite, though. I'm like, I have to check with my partner. We kept saying that. I think it is associate, lower level. Like, I need to know. I. I kept saying my associate. And then I was like, is that. I know. Partner. Like, makes sense because, like, we're business partners. I need to understand the corporate jargon, you know?
A
Yeah. My. My co. Founder.
B
Yeah.
A
My.
B
Yeah, it is.
A
Because there's not usually two CEOs. Right. Right.
B
I mean, there is a co. CEO, but, like, not really. It's more so like co founder and then like, you each have different, like, roles, you know? But I think we're just co owners. Like, it's not necessarily with my co.
A
Owner.
B
Co founder. Co. Yeah.
A
You guys let us know.
B
Yeah.
A
What. What should we say? Did you see. Obviously, I'm sure you saw Hallie and Jazz bought a boat with their company card.
B
Yeah. They set up a company card and they bought a boat. We set up a company card and we said, now we have to pay all these bills.
A
Yeah, we have to pay. It is really nice though, you guys, because Brooke and I have been splitting everything for seven years.
B
Yeah. People wonder about how we set it up. We each have our own companies.
A
Yes. We get paid out.
B
Yeah.
A
And like, from gals. And they go. They pay us in half.
B
If anyone cares about this. I. I feel like I think it is too.
A
This is the episode to say it.
B
Yeah. The finances of gals.
A
Finances of the company.
B
Yeah. The company. Yeah. We used to just say, divvy it up among, like, before you send it and send it to the two of us. And then now we were like, you know, know, we're in this for a while. Maybe we should just set up the.
A
No, but it's so think about even, like, there's a lot of times where we'll go in on, like, getting flowers for a friend. Like, we could use the company card, couldn't we?
B
You're so right.
A
Because it's like the same.
B
I think so. I. I think we may have to be sending it from the company. Then it might not be like, from Brooke and Danielle. It's like, from gals.
A
From gals. Okay.
B
Yeah.
A
For legal reasons, I think. Okay. Yeah. I have to talk to our bookkeeper. Accountants. Gotta talk to him to ref.
B
I'll have to speak to my.
A
Yeah, my bookkeeper. No, but I'm. I'm really excited for that because it was always just like, venmoing each other, payp piling, selling back and forth and back and forth, which we had to do because otherwise you would just lose track. But it's so nice to just be like, yeah, take it out of that account.
B
There we go. Yeah, there's a lot of setup calls to a business, no matter what the business is. I mean, I think the social media business is relatively low cost in terms of, like, the, I guess, pay for, like, equipment and whatnot. But not really so so much. Like, if you're starting, like, I mean, I can't even imagine if you're opening a store or something. Like, the overhead is, like, insane. But even the cost of, like, then starting, like, you know, you have to set up your company, but then you have to get the company the bank account for the company and the.
A
Yeah, the.
B
The legal agreements for the company. Like, there's just a lot of things. Yeah, we.
A
There's so much behind the scenes.
B
I know.
A
Try being an influencer.
B
I know. And I like it. Like, I do like, the business end of it. Just sometimes I'm just like, paperwork is so boring. I have. I. I have like, a stack of mail. I'm not gonna lie, that's like, come for gals on the go, like. And I. I've been able to discern, like, what of it is junk mail.
A
You probably don't need to open any of it.
B
But that's my problem is that I don't. And then, like, I get one that says, urgent last notice. I'm like, thank you. Like, I hate that is my. My cross to bear is physical mail. I hate it. I know. I don't know why. Like, getting a letter, like, shoot me. Honestly, Like, I hate mail.
A
I hate it. Well, here's a question. When you get married one day, are you gonna mail the invitations?
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah, because I'm like, kind of fine if we just all go virtual. Am I cr.
B
To do an evite for your wedding?
A
Well, not if no one else is. Because. Okay, here's the thing. Everyone sends these invites, and then it's like, the link.
B
Of course. Yeah. Then you have the company website.
A
But then actually, maybe I did send you. I saw this really cute invitation suite of, like, yeah, if you were to get married in New York City. It was the sick. Like, I was like, that's cute. But then it's like, goes back to the man.
B
I thought you were going to say, do you do handwritten thank you notes? Because that's what everybody does. And to me. You don't want my handwritten thank you note.
A
I don't. Yeah. I don't know. I'm not upset.
B
I don't think the older generation is, though. Like, grandma wants a handwritten thing.
A
Grandma needs a hand.
B
Yes. And honestly, like, aunts and uncles, like, they want a handwritten thank you note, too.
A
Yeah.
B
Especially if they're spending, like, they're getting stuff off your wedding registry. Like. Yeah, you gotta come on, break out the gel pen and.
A
Yeah, the gel pen. But if it's like a friend, like, shoot me a text, that's fine.
B
Yeah.
A
Like, thank you.
B
Yeah. Or I got one the other day that was like, thank you for, like. And they like. It's like a formula. It's like, thank you for the generous 200 gift.
A
Yeah. It's like, whatever. They fill it in.
B
It's like a challenge. Like, adjective. It was so delightful seeing you at the wedding. It was so joyous seeing you at the wedding.
A
No. Yeah. Unfortunately, that's one thing you and I have in common is the handwriting. I. Yeah. I was literally writing letters to my doorman today. Like. Like, thank you letters.
B
That's so. Wow. You're a letter writer. She's a. Yeah.
A
With the stationery you got me from the desk of Daniel Carolyn. Yeah. But. Oh, my God, I. I really feel so bad for them. I'm like, I hope they can read that.
B
Hieroglyphics.
A
They need, like, a key. Like, this symbol means this. Like, oh, is that a D or is that a heart? I'm not sure. Like, you. I just. We were not blessed with the cute bubble lettering that Sam Edelman. They sent a letter. Did you get that? I just got it, so.
B
Oh. I haven't checked my mail. Out of my way to check them. Honestly. I wait till it piles up and then I go, oh, no. And then I sit there in the, like, mail room.
A
Yeah.
B
And I filter through it in the mailroom. Like, literally, like, I work in a company mail room.
A
I used to do that through. Yeah.
B
Yeah. I'm like, I don't even want to bring up half the stack of. Half of its junk mail.
A
Yeah.
B
I get a lot of junk mail.
A
Random catalogs from stores. You order from one.
B
No, it's not. But it says just. It's just my address. Like, they don't even have my name. I think that they just send it to everybody in the building. It's so.
A
Yeah, I know.
B
Waste. What a waste.
A
I know. I do think about, like, I feel like my dad, like, loves to go, like, check, check the mail. Like, I feel like it's an older generation thing. I don't know. Maybe you guys will let us know.
B
My parents, like, freeze their mail when they're out of town. Like, you're getting that much mail that you have to freeze the mail. Like, that's crazy. Who's. How do you mail? Seriously?
A
That is such a blast from the past. Like, I remember we used to do that. We'd, like, go on a trip.
B
I gotta go to the post ops and unfreeze the mail. Like, it's like, you were away for four days. Four, like, not. Not even a week. That's crazy.
A
I haven't, like, thought about any of this in so long. Yeah, it's old school stuff, but apparently.
B
I'm old school because I do checks still. Do you have a checkbook?
A
No.
B
Okay.
A
I don't.
B
I, like, do it for my cleaning people. I do a check, which people are.
A
Like, that's so gorgeous. That is so adina. It's. I think it's very. That's something that I think is chic. Like writing someone a check. Like, when we open the wedding gifts.
B
I do. I do check. So you don't do check for what?
A
I need to get a checkbook. I know how to do.
B
You literally just put the cash in the envelope. Oh, my God.
A
Is that. Oh, my God. So you don't have to go to the atm. That's nice.
B
I have to, like, go deposit it. Yeah. It's easier for them, I think. Like, I don't know. I don't. What do they do?
A
I mean, I didn't ask Katie Velotti what she did. She probably wrote a check. That's so her.
B
I'm. Maybe I'm the only one who wrote a check. Maybe everybody else did. I truly don't know. I don't.
A
I'm like, can I just tell you?
B
Like, no, I. That's where I'm at that. I. Like when they have on the website the honeymoon fund or whatever. And you just do it through there.
A
I. If that's there, I'm doing it. I'm sorry.
B
100.
A
Like, I know someone will get you the pot. Like, I'm gonna do the honeymoon most of the time.
B
All the stuff is taken anyways.
A
Always. And I feel like I click on it as soon as I can.
B
Registration day.
A
Literally register for Your class.
B
Yeah.
A
Well, welcome to the new gals on the go. We're so excited that you're here, but now we can just resume as normal.
B
We're with.
A
With a little twist. What have you been up to? Last week, we had our Nantucket episode, but we.
B
We did. I've been.
A
We have. We both have stories to tell each other.
B
So many stories. Oh, first thing. Oh, I want to talk about walking and then randomly running, because.
A
Oh, we have to talk about this, Brook. I got. I have opinions. This is hilarious.
B
You have the egg? Is that what you asked?
A
I was going to say I have the egg, but I thought that. I can tell.
B
It's okay. Okay. I. Let me set the stage just talking about running because my boyfriend's sister's husband was out for a run when we were, like, away on 4th of July, and we were talking about. I was like, that's so impressive. And then, like, he was texting. He was like, I'm on mile six or something. I was like, that is so crazy. Like, inconcept. Like, you know, that you could just pick up and go for a run, like, crazy and not be, like, a crazy runner, but just do that. And then. So we're talking about, like, running. And I was like, no, I. I do not run. I mean, sometimes I challenge myself, and I'm like, oh, can I run to the corner? And they were like, what do you mean? And I was like, no, I just, you know, if I'm in athletic clothes, like, which is a lot of the time, like, let's just say I'm running to Dwayne Raid, picking my prescription or something. Like, I'm just like, okay, can I run these two blocks? And I just sprint. I sprint. I just start sprinting. And they literally were like, are you. Well, like, are you okay?
A
I don't do that.
B
No. I was like, you've never had the urge to just see if you could do it? And they were like, no, Never, ever, ever.
A
Like, so you'll just randomly, like. I mean, if I'm running late, something, I'll start picking up pace.
B
No, I. I run. I run like, I'm in a. I'm in a jog. Did I told you that I got a message? 1. So then I got.
A
So that's what sent me that. I.
B
Yes, that I got a message. They were like, I wanted to stop you, but, like, you were out on a run and I didn't want to bother you. I've literally never gone for a run. Never, ever. I haven't run since gym class when I was in maybe 9th grade. Saw you when you were like doing.
A
One of these two vlog runs. Brooke, that is. So what were the comments like? Were people like people?
B
Some people agreed with me. They were like, no, I do that. So that was validating. And other people were like, maybe you should try running. Like, I don't know, it sounds like you'd be good at it, but that's not real running. Like, that was. It was. It's not controlled running. It's just like a sprint almost.
A
Yeah. I mean, I. In high school, when I wanted to get into running, I would. You would go for a walk and then run at the beat drops and stuff like that. So. I know what you mean.
B
It's similar except that it's like today.
A
I was going to pick up my alterations if like the last block. I just.
B
Yeah, it's literally that. It's literally that.
A
Do you think about, like, what. Like when are you. Like, are you at the crosswalk so it looks like you were on a run? Like, what do you think about the people around you or you don't.
B
I don't give a. I don't. I just don't. I just. I. I don't know. I just don't think about it. Honestly. I'm just like, they don't need to know.
A
And I just. And now I'm like, like, since that person messaged you that I'm like, this must happen often, at least for someone to message you.
B
I probably do this at least once a week.
A
What if you have like a bag?
B
Sometimes it's a little awkward at the bag.
A
Yeah. Running with like a backpack or like a side bag.
B
It's never. Well, yeah, when I'm like going to a workout class, like Soul Cycle and I have a big bag, like. Yeah, it's not great, but like, you'll do it. I. Yeah, that's like when I used to mostly do it, like just a little warm up. Now it's mostly like, oh, I gotta run an errand. Like, I gotta go. Go to the post office or something stupid. And I like don't have like a lot to carry, so it's like a fanny pack or something.
A
Yeah, that's.
B
And I really only do it when I'm in athletic clothing. Like, that's the thing. I'm not doing it in anything that's. Besides, it really looks like you're on a run. That's the thing. That's the thing. I'm. I'm cosplaying a run.
A
That is it's the cutest thing. I, I love it.
B
I need you guys to tell me if you have ever done this. It's like a, it's like a weird thing in my brain that it's like, bet you can't run to the corner. I'm like, I can.
A
Like, actually, I can't. It's like an intrusive thought where you're. I could just start running.
B
The thing is, like, I act on my intrusive thoughts. Like, you know, let that be my intrusive thought.
A
I was going to say, I've seen.
B
Some people say, like, my intrusive thoughts are not safe to share. Like, you know. And I'm like, you know what mine is? Can you run two blocks without stopping?
A
So I think you're winning, honestly.
B
Okay.
A

You know that feeling when you score a crazy good deal and you just have to tell someone, that's me every time I use Rakuten. I started using it because I kept hearing about cash back and honestly I was skeptical. But now I am hooked. There's seriously nothing like the thrill of stacking a sale and getting money back just for shopping. Brooke and I both love Rakuten so much. It's hands down the most Rewarding way to shop because you can stack cash back on top of sales and deals at your favorite stores like Sephora, Urban Outfitters, Nike. I just got cash back on a sale order at Sephora last week and it felt like a win win. It's super easy to use. You just shop like normal and Rakuten sends your cash back right to your PayPal or by check. No catch. The concept is so smart. I mean, stores pay Rakuten for sending them shoppers and Rakuten shares that money with you as cash back. You can earn on fashion, beauty, electronics, home stuff, travel, dining. Seriously, everything. And signing up is totally free and takes just seconds. If you're not on it yet, now's your turn to start stacking sales on top of cash back and actually feel like you're maximizing your savings. Download the free Rakuten app or go to rakuten.com to start saving today. That's R a K U t e n rakuten.com I had something funny happen to me and it was this crazy situation where so my mom listens to gals on the go pretty much every week. So does your mom, Whatever. And that's just to set the stage. So I was in. In illinois for like 4th of July for a family reunion. As I go every year, was talking to my grandma and we were just outside talking. We were talking about life and, like, moving and like, it, you know, all those types of things.
B
Yeah.
A
And she goes, I swear on my life, and this is a call back to our Sandals. After you went to Sandals, she goes, wait, let me see your left hand. I broke. I swear, I hold up my left hand. She goes, and I lift it up like this so she can't see, like my nails, anything. She goes, now flip it around. And I think she's about to ask me, like, why are you not engaged? She goes, what's that on your hand? A hand chain. At that same moment, I'm like, oh, my God. Brooke had the same exact, exact dialogue. And I looked at my mom and she goes, oh, my God. It's like, what happened to Brooke? And my grandma's so confused. She's like, but what's on your hand?
B
I guess it's really a thing that they. And it's. They were around the same age. They were like grandparentage, you know, like, it's someone that could be. Yeah.
A
But like, I swear it was that. I lift it up like this, flip it around. I'm like, no, I'm not engaged. You know this. And she's like, no, the hand chain. So then obviously I told.
B
I thought she was gonna be like, how beautiful would your hand look with them?
A
Yeah, something like that. Like, I just, you know, because we're talking about life and moving and. But she knows that's not my timeline at the moment, so it was just so funny.
B
So funny.
A
What was funnier, too, was just looking over at my mom and we both were like, oh, my God. I was like, wow, mom, you really listen.
B
I love how in tune your mom is. Like, she quite quotes. Like, she, like, knows quotes.
A
Like, she texted us quotes from the nunchucket.
B
The number one, like, gal.
A
She.
B
Honestly, like, she's.
A
Yeah, she's up there. She texted me the other day, like, can you give me the episode early? Like, I'm. I'm headed in the sauna. Like, it was a Tuesday. And I was like, well, it's ready, but, like, it's not fully ready. I don't really know how to get it.
B
Like, can I have you sign an NDA?
A
Yeah. I was like, well, you know what it was. I think it was uploaded on YouTube as unlisted, so I could have sent it to her, but I was like, we're probably about. About to schedule it. It'll get pretty, you know. But yeah, so that happened to me, and I had to share that with you because that exact story happened to you. Right?
B
Like, really funny. Literally the same thing.
A
Flip it around.
B
And I'm wearing my hand chain on my right these days.
A
Because you're scarred.
B
You're like, honestly, I have my. Now I have a watch, so I feel like watch and hand chain on the same. Is just a lot going on.
A
There's a lot going on.
B
Yeah. I've. I've had, like, the same configuration of jewelry, though, for, like, a minute now. And I'm. I should probably switch it up at some point. At some point, I just get lazy. Like, I don't take it off, and I just kind of, like, keep it.
A
Seriously.
B
I put a new bracelet on. It's probably not coming off. That's where I'm at.
A
No, right now.
B
That's really funny. Overall, we didn't talk about your family reunion, though.
A
No, it was so lovely. It was so relaxing. Like, no notes. I love. But I do have something. I like, think I want a lake house one day.
B
I love this. Right.
A
If I, you know, could afford to do something like that.
B
Ben also wants a lake house, so maybe you.
A
Oh, so we could just go in on.
B
But it would have to be New York, probably If so, I don't know.
A
That's fine. I don't care.
B
With the New York lake. Guess.
A
Yeah, I wanted to. Well, I'm okay with it. But then I was, like, talking to my brother about it. He was like, you should. Actually. It was my idea. I was like, it could be near Athens. So then it's like our game day. But I was thinking about the lakes that are near.
B
Is that.
A
Yeah. I don't know.
B
It's not a good lake.
A
I don't know. I hear that Lake Burton is like the lake you want to have the house at, but that's like, the most expensive one, too, so. But I've never been to the lakes.
B
And, like, I can't say I've.
A
I never was invited to the lake house. But a lot of my friends or people, I was. They would go to the lake house.
B
Yeah.
A
Never got that.
B
I went to some beach houses that was like. I got some of those bites, which was nice. Yeah.
A
Didn't get those invites.
B
Yeah.
A
But I. That's a new goal that I have. I. Because I was thinking, like, we are my grandparents, neighbor, they let us use their boat whenever we're there because they don't have a boat. They have a pontoon boat. Like, I was like, I could. I could just, you know, get on the pontoon boat and take.
B
What is up.
A
Oh, it's like. It's like those boats that they just have, like a whole float basically under it. It just looks like a big.
B
It's like a big dash deck.
A
Like a big deck. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's flat.
B
It's flat because there's no waves in the lake. Yeah. And, like, are there critters in the lake?
A
You gotta look up your lake that you're in, like.
B
Okay.
A
And our lake, like, the worst thing is, like, snakes, which I don't love, but, you know, there's no.
B
No, no, no, no, no. Is the water murky?
A
Oh, yeah.
B
Like, you can't see.
A
Yeah. But there are lakes, like, in Michigan that are clear and beautiful, but no, the one. I don't think I'd be getting an Illinois lake house, per se. But I just. I was really seeing the vision of, like. Because it's so nice when you get out of the lake and you're not, like, dry and salty. Like, I love. I want to be by the ocean, but, like, lake house is a vibe. And just hop on that pontoon boat. Yeah. Take a drive down. Let your hair down.
B
You're big on the spf. I'm so proud of You.
A
Oh, my God. Thank you. Because I can wear normal sunscreen again yet because of my extensions, and I just, you know, I don't enjoy mineral sunscreen. So I was excited. I could make my SPF cocktail and do all the things and my hair wouldn't turn pink.
B
I got it. I get that.
A
So.
B
But experience.
A
Yes. Great time. Thanks for asking. And I ate lots of corn. Corn on the cob. And I want a lake house Monday.
B
So I could see that for you.
A
I would be open to New York. We could do a share out.
B
What's the lake? That's freaking. Lake Placid is, like, beautiful upstate. And I think that that's. Well, there's skiing. The town is so cute and.
A
Oh. So you can use it seasonally for different things.
B
Oh, and then in the summer, there's a big horse race up there.
A
Bougie.
B
So there's activities.
A
Yeah, that's.
B
It could be. Could be fun.
A
I. I'm into it, you know. How was your Fourth of July, Ms. Hampton's?
B
It was great. It was in the Hamptons. It was. Was really no notes. I mean, we saw the. The fireworks were on the 5th. I don't know. That was an interesting.
A
In the Hamptons.
B
Yeah. The ones that we went to, at least. Yeah. I didn't do anything. Like, it was like more of like a wholesome family vibe versus, like, Surf Lodge. I mean.
A
Yeah. Last year. It's hard to top your 4th of July last year. That was crazy.
B
Never.
A
I remember just constantly refreshing your stories. I was like, brooke, tell me more.
B
It will never be topped, unfortunately. But that's okay. You know, it was meant for me at that season of my life, like.
A
And, like, if you went again this year, it wouldn't have been John Summit and the whole thing.
B
No, no. And what's meant to find me will find me. If an invitation comes across my desk, then that's it. I would entertain the offer.
A
So you're. I mean, we don't have to say it, but you have some music things coming up, so you'll have fun.
B
Yeah, no, I'm not deprived. Don't worry about Brooke.
A
You know, she's new, so there's a new Chris Lake album out, by the way.
B
There is. It's great.
A
I want to listen because I. Yeah.
B
You said you found some Chris Lake and you liked it.
A
There was like, a random song that came in a, like, New Music Friday playlist, and I was, like, vibing to it, and then I saw the artist. I was like, I'll text Brooke our Friendship song.
B
He's. He's a great artist. He's like the father of house music. People, like, really, really like him.
A
Father.
B
He is. Because he's like an og. He's really good.
A
Oh, that makes sense.
B
But you have been. You. You've been diagnosed with Bieber fever.
A
Oh, it's all coming back. It's very exciting. Did you listen at all to. I did.
B
I. I downloaded it before I drove today and I listened to it and it's really like R B. Right.
A
I had a feeling because, like, his last album, Slash, his last two albums have been very R B.
B
Am I.
A
Is it my favorite just me problem? No. But I will take what I can get and I'm just gonna keep listening to it. Like, actually, I even saw Emily help posted and she was like, not for me. Yeah. I think she said, like, these are the few songs I like. But I'm excited that it wasn't like this crash out album of like crazy random songs.
B
Like, yeah, yeah, it was cool.
A
They were beautiful songs and so fun. But it's always exciting when there's new music out.
B
Yeah. What do you say is your favorite Justin Bieber album that, like, do you have a favorite Justin Bieber?
A
Oh, my God.
B
You don't have to. Or like, even song or era or.
A
I. I mean, I wonder what other people would say, but, like, my favorite era. Well, I have two favorite eras. One is like that album I always listen to during Valentine's Day. If you guys know it's called Changes and it's like, yummy, like that vibe. So it's a little RB and B. Yeah. Our R B. And then I also just loved my world and Believe and, you know, baby. And, you know, like, I wanted to.
B
Make sure that was still social. Like, because I. That was my. I mean, I'm not. I don't have beeper. Like, I'm not as deep. I really don't know all the lore. I don't know the characters involved and stuff. Like, you know, I. I feel like.
A
Because you're thinking. Because like, with Taylor Swift, it's like, oh, if you only like old Taylor Swift. Like, whatever. But I don't think it's like that for Justin Bieber.
B
Like, I love beauty and a beat. Like that song.
A
Yes.
B
No matter what. Like, I want that. Like, my wedding playlist. Like, I.
A
You should run to that.
B
That's a good.
A
That's a good running.
B
Honestly, like, that era would be such good.
A
Like, you know, a good era for him.
B
Oh, my God, I can't even Imagine.
A
No, like, seriously. No. So I think it's acceptable. Like, that's, that's what makes me the happiest. And, like, journals, his album and changes are my favorite. Cool.
B
So that's a good Bieber reflection.
A
Yeah, yeah. Bieber and Chris Lake reflection. Very exciting.
B
Can I also about Justin Bieber. So is this, like, the drama with Haley that was all, like, staged? I'm confused.
A
I think, I think. No, I think they were just like. Don't you, like, he was like, don't you realize, like, I'm working on things? Like. No, I think he.
B
Okay, he's a little.
A
I mean, he changed his Instagram to Lil Bieber. Like, yeah, I think he's, you know. But I, you know, also, I feel so bad that it's all in the public eye and anything that he goes through, everyone has to experience. But I don't think it was necessary because. Yes, because she posted, like, is it not clocking to you?
B
I thought it was funny. I was like, oh.
A
She's like, no, I loved it. Yeah, I loved it, but I think it was like, see, he was working on shit.
B
Got it.
A
But I don't think it was fake.
B
I thought it was like, oh, we were never fighting after all. But I couldn't tell the tone. Like, it was hard to, like, No.
A
I, I, I didn't take it as that because unfortunately, I feel like people just constantly make things about.
B
But I appreciated that he had her and the. I don't know the baby's name. I apologize.
A
Jack.
B
Jack.
A
Jack.
B
In the, like, album content. Like, I like that.
A
It was like, yeah, it was like.
B
That was very, like, I was like, oh, I like that. Like this. Yeah, that it was. And that was like a stance because I feel like people are always like, oh, the relationship's rocky. It's like, clearly not. Like, if they're. Yeah.
A
Like, off. Like, I can't. Like, if they're happy, they're happy. And they're so cute.
B
I, I'm happy for them. Yeah, they're happy for them.
A
Whatever. We, we know as much as we know, so why do we need to dig deeper? Like, let them figure out their. Let them, Let them.
B
Literally.
A
You had another story to tell me, and I've been thinking about it.
B
I do have another story to tell you.
A
I'm excited to hear it.
B
Oh, okay. Well, I have, like, two few random thoughts. First up.
A
Perfect.
B
Do you know, hello, my lovelies. How are you doing today? Say hi, Jimmy boy. Are you on this side of Tick Tock? No, no, I just Ended up on it. It's this British girl who's literally. She's in like seventh grade and she makes videos with her dad and it makes me want to cry. Like, I don't. I can't. It's called Daddy and Carly and it's. She like does the videos and she's talking to the camera and the dad's in the back and he's. She says they have like an inside joke. Joke where it's like, say hi Jimmy boy. And he goes, hi, Jimmy Boy. And then they like start the video.
A
How is she like under 10? Like what's 7 energy. Oh, you said. Yeah, sorry. Yeah. So like 11.
B
I need. They're very popular. I need you to watch these videos and like do. We can debrief on that.
A
Send me one and it'll hit me.
B
I wasn't sure if you. I would. I feel late to it. Like I was like, oh, like I have.
A
If you feel late to it, then I'm really late to it. Click your head.
B
Really?
A
Yeah. You're always telling me about things before I see them.
B
Wow. Okay. Maybe now you'll end up on this side.
A
Yeah. You know, it's a. Johnny Boy. What's his. His name? Jimmy Boy.
B
Jimmy Boy.
A
Jimmy Boy.
B
I don't even know. That's like an inside joke that they have. I don't understand the lore there. But then they like go into the bit of the video and they'll be like cooking together or something. It's really sweet and makes me want to cry.
A
So it's sweet but also funny and like cute.
B
Yeah, they're cute. Like she people. Oh, and the comments are so funny. People are like, this definitely isn't her first life because she acts like she's like an 80 year old woman, but she's fully like a seventh grader. But she like speaks in a way.
A
That is like, you know, comments.
B
You know how you can tell like some people like, oh, an old soul. But there actually are some kids.
A
Yeah. Who.
B
Who quite literally I'm like, wow, you are actually like 50 years old and like 100 body, you know.
A
Yes, I completely agree. I've been around little kids where they say things that are smarter than me.
B
Yeah. You're like, where did this come from?
A
I was literally Talking to my 6 year old cousin last week and she goes, as mentioned earlier. I was like, did you just say as mentioned earlier?
B
How does she even know that phrase?
A
Like it must be.
B
It must.
A
Her mom. Yeah, she was talking about her squishmallows. But then she goes, as mentioned earlier.
B
Earlier, oh, she's gonna be a gene. She's brilliant. She. Someone should pay her tuition to harbor now.
A
Like, yeah, sheep and chickens. Like, she is wholesome as, like, wholesome as great. Don't show her this episode yet.
B
Okay, next random thought. I've been thinking about it because, like, you know, in terms of getting a pet, like, it's obviously like, it's on the cards for me, whatever. So then I was like, you know what? How about I settle on a fish? Yeah, pet fish. But then I said, let me take it one step further. Thoughts on.
A
I'm so nervous. Wait, like, can I, like, guess?
B
Yeah, you can guess. I guess.
A
Can you give me the type or would that give it?
B
No, it's not even like, type of fish. It's like what I wanted.
A
Not a fish. I know it's not gonna be a fish.
B
No, it's, it's like a concept here.
A
Okay, thoughts on.
B
Thoughts on, like, doing like a tank build out. Like, like Aquarius.
A
I love that I had tanks growing up. Like, I feel like you know what I'm talking about.
B
Like, I, I, I'm gonna have to like, hire someone I think, to maybe help.
A
Like, would you put it in one of your, like, walls?
B
Like, that's the thing. I don't know where, but, like, I could.
A
That would be.
B
I don't have a fun where I.
A
Have your Legos, you have your fish.
B
Is it too much?
A
No. I love that I would come over all the time and just sit, be like, Brooks Aquarium.
B
Like, see, that to me seems so low lift. But I know you have to clean the tank. But I'm like, can't you, like, maybe.
A
You could hire some.
B
That's what I was thinking. Like, once a month, some one comes. Come and clean the tank.
A
Yeah, definitely.
B
I mean, my fear is like, like, I want to take care of them and I want to appreciate them from afar and them to have a nice life. But, like, if I ever, ever, ever have to touch them, like, I will have to chop my hand off. So, like, I don't know how to.
A
Like, I think you could. Well, is Ben interested? Have you spoken to.
B
Yeah, I think that he's like, that seems like a lot of admin. Maybe we start with a goldfish and a bowl. Like, you know, they look. They do.
A
But you could transfer them to the tank if you decide you want, like a ton of goldfish. That could be fun. No, Brooke, actually, yes, please.
B
I've been thinking about this.
A
I love it. I think it would be so relaxing. And just to hear, like, the little bubbles, like, a little tank. Oh, my gosh. What's that? You should go watch that show. That. Oh, my God. I used to watch it all the time.
B
Our planet.
A
No, no. Like an aquarium. They would build aquariums, like, these sick aquariums for people's houses.
B
Oh, I don't know the show.
A
I'll find it.
B
Oh, that's so cool. I don't even know where in the house it would go. Like, now they think I was like, should it go? Because it can't be in, like, sunlight. Right.
A
What's a shame is maybe you have another, like, where you put your bookshelf. Like, I'm thinking that vibe. Is there anywhere else like, that you could do?
B
There's. There's places. There's places.
A
I got friends in low.
B
I don't think that the fish tank vibe is a vibe for the bedroom, though.
A
So I have to think definitely not the bedroom because, like, the little light on or. You hear that?
B
Yeah.
A
Oh, my God.
B
Brooke, you. I know, I know. Well, because I was thinking about it, like, people growing up that had, like, koi ponds and stuff. I was thinking about the admin behind that.
A
Like, they really, like, they must have had someone come.
B
Oh, yeah, for sure. Especially if it was, like, a. Well, like, it was like a nice koi pond. Like, that requires, like, really, like, maintenance.
A
You should message in your group chat that you have with your building and say, like, I could so see.
B
Has anyone ever done it? A couple aquarium, an aquatic buildup, and.
A
I feel like, do I have to.
B
Get a work order for the aquarium build out?
A
You're saying, like, if they have, like, a guy.
B

A
Hi, I'm Adam Rippon, and this is.
B
Intrusive Thoughts, the podcast where I finally.
A
Say the stuff out loud that's been.
B
Living rent free in my head for years. From dumb decisions to awkward moments I probably should have kept to myself.
A
Nothing's off limits. Yes.
B
I'm talking about the time I lost.
A
My phone mid flight and still haven't.
B
Truly emotionally recovered from that. There might be too many sound effects. I've been told to chill. Will I unclear, but if you've ever laid awake at night cringing at something you said five years ago, congratulations, you found your people. Intrusive Thoughts with Adam Rippon is available now wherever you get your podcasts.
A
Oh, I found out yesterday that there's a group chat in my building this whole time. And I said to my doorman, I was like, what the heck?
B
Why is it active?
A
Yeah. He was like, trust me, you don't want to be a part of it.
B
Oh, it's all a lot of complaining.
A
He was like, yeah, it's like, about dogs peeing in the grass. And I was like, I love that though. Like, I want to know the drama you do. So when I move, I need get in that group chat fast.
B
For sure. Come to the group chat. But you'll have, like, it'll be nice because it'll be you and Ryan. So it's a little bit more like, it's easier to. Well, it's also like, it's intimidating to go one on one and be like, nice to meet you neighbors. But you could be like, hi. Like, we. We just. So true.
A
We just. We got water we didn't know if the water was safe.
B
Why the did I do that? I brought that up the other day, too. I don't know why I did that.
A
Inside joke that you guys are.
B
Why. Why I did that. Oh, my God.
A
Say it quickly so if you don't know the story.
B
When I was moving into this new place, I was. It was like I had literally nothing in my fridge. Like, it was completely empty. But what I did decide to do it, Ben and I. I was like, ben, we have to go to Target. We have to get, like, big thing jugs of water, because I refuse to drink the tap water, even though New York City tap water, some of the best, literally in the country, literally thing. But I was like, no, we have to go by. So we got, like, the big, big, big things that Poland Spring with the, like, valve attached to it. And we're holding three of them in the elevator, and, like, another person walks in, and I just felt awkward because we had these huge containers of water. And I don't know why. I just was, like, anxious, and I was just like. I think I. And then I looked at her. I was just like, you know, we. We just moved, and we weren't sure how the water is, so we just wanted to be safe. Like, Sheila, it's nice to meet you.
A
Too, by the way.
B
And she looked at me as if I had, I think, eight inches. Like, it's. It's fine.
A
And you're like, So I don't.
B
It's just like, okay, okay, have a good day. But I didn't have to say anything. Like, it just. Okay.
A
It's just like I had to address my waters.
B
I always feel the need to explain myself, but it's actually exhausting. Like, I don't know why.
A
No, I'm the same way. I'm the same way. So I understand. It's just made me think of it.
B
You know when you're just, like, existing and then you remember something really embarrassing you did. Like, I've been having a lot of those moments recently. Recently. And that was one of them. There was something. Oh, something else with Ben's family. One time when they. I don't think I told this one, they brought a gift. It was a few years ago when we were dating. And it's really funny what happened. And it was like a birthday dinner for my birthday and like, someone else's birthday, I think, or. And for some reason, I think that they had already given me, like a. A gift. Like a small gift maybe. But we were, like, pretty early in Dating. And we go to this dinner and they. And Hermes bag. Like the. You know, his mom and dad, like.
A
They were shopping bag.
B
Yeah. Like, and they, like, put it on the table. And I think. I think I said something. I was like, you didn't have to. Like, I hope you didn't go out of your way and do anything crazy. And they were like, oh, no, this. This is for Jennifer. Oh, my God, I'm so sorry.
A
You serious?
B
And they're like, no, we. We literally didn't.
A
We didn't trust you. Was it like a thing you guys.
B
Laughed about after Brings it up. He's like, remember when you thought.
A
Honestly, I would have thought that too. Like, right.
B
It was like, the timing. And I was like, I also, like, my parents are extravagant. Like, that's the thing. Like, I was like, oh, sorry. My parents, like, would do something like that. So I guess I'm to.
A
You did not need to trouble.
B
Really? This bag.
A
Oh, we didn't.
B
No, no. Like, that's. That's her gift. She picked up today. She picked up today.
A
Oh, my God, that's so fun.
B
Like, I'll be chilling and think of something that I did like, that I'm like, oh, lock it out, Block it out. Yeah, that's hysterical.
A
Thank you for sharing. Oh, my God. You just stay. Making me, like, tear up crying.
B
Should we do our favorite of the week?
A
Yeah.
B
What are you loving?
A
Mine is a wreck from someone else. It's a surface cleaner. Yes. Mrs. Meyers. You heard of the brand?
B
You know, familiar. You know her. You've seen her at Target Walmart. You've seen her Amazon?
A
Yeah, literally. I bought more on the Amazon prime day or whatever because Clara Purse told me about this scent specifically. And she was like, you have to get it. It smells like Louisville Day. And I was like, so I'm there. It's like the tomato vine scent.
B
Okay.
A
Oh, my God. You spray your counters. Like, I would only use this to, like, clean your kitchen because it's like, you know, like lemon people use for kitchen. Oh, my gosh, it smells so good. It's like, it doesn't really smell like tomato. Like, it's like basil and like a garden. But it really does smell like the Loewe soap. And I bought the dish soap as well. Then I found out it's a seasonal one. So then I bought three more because.
B
Stockpile up.
A
Yeah, yeah. They also have one. I haven't tried it, but it's called, like, blade of grass or something. I'm like, I wonder what that smells like. I mean, it's supposed to smell like.
B
Grass blades of glory.
A
I know the way I said it, but I love it. I seriously get so excited to clean my counters. It just. It smells divine and it lingers. Like, I think that's something about Mrs. Meyers. Like, remember the one at our Hampton's house, the lavender scent a couple years ago? Like, it really defined that era, that trip. So this tomato vine is the scent of my season.
B
I love that for you. That's really nice.
A
Thank you. What are you loving?
B
I'm loving these Essence Lip treatments. I have to tell you about them because they're. I. For some reason, I thought that they were like, 10:15, but I found out that they're 4.99. And that's just, like, blowing my mind. I'm just like, holy. Like, that's insane.
A
I was gonna tell you when you sat down. Your lips are so, like, glossy.
B
Thank you. I feel like I have to.
A
Like, I would reapply, but when you first said.
B
You're like, now they're looking a little.
A
Yeah, I don't wanna. But when you. Yes. Like, oh, my God.
B
It's a very good juicy. It's more creamy than it is, like, sticky and tacky, which I like a sticky and tacky for a different reason. But this other. And there's shades. This one's in, like, a toffee tastic.
A
Or three toffee tastic. I love it.
B
I just love. I feel like these lip things, like, they get me. I buy a lot of them and why are some of them, like, $30? Like, I know it's too much, and they're just thrown throughout my purses. I'm like, $5. I could justify more.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, like, that's an easy.
A
You can buy five of them if you want.
B
And I feel like they sell asins everywhere. But, like, most. Mostly ulta. I don't know.
A
I'm too. For, like, an older essence is a blast from the past. I feel like OG YouTube days. It was like I got my Essence powder. I don't know. Maybe that was just a thing.
B
Yes.
A
But good stuff.
B
Good, good stuff.
A
I love it. I. I have a panic of the week. Could I share that to end it off? Unless you have one.
B
Please.
A
So moved in with Ryan or. He moved into my apartment.
B
Yeah.
A
We're in between everything right now.
B
You're about a weekend.
A
We're about a weekend. Yeah.
B
Yes.
A
I had a panic. Where? Oh, I guess I already told you this, but I didn't tell the gal pals. So he went for a run because Ryan's been going for real runs these days because he's training for a half marathon in San Francisco. Very. A real run. Yes.
B
And just a run to the corner.
A
He's running, running, like, six to ten miles a day. It's very impressive. But. So he got up early. He went for his run. He came back so sweaty, like, you would have thought he was in a sauna now. I didn't think much of it. I was like, okay, he's sweaty. He's gonna get in the shower. Nope. He walked in. He was like, danny, Danny, do you have a beach towel? Do you have a beach towel? And I was, like, sitting, having my coffee, like, oh, yeah. Like, I don't know. I have to think for a second where they are. And then he was just, like, panic, panic, panic. And he just sat on my dining chair in his sweaty, sweaty shorts.
B
In the fabric, you have very plush dining chairs, too. Like, they're not like the Just, like, wooden dining chairs. They have, like, a layer of, like, couch.
A
Yes. Like, it was a noise. And he sat. It was like. And I was like, oh, my God. Like, I was just picturing a sponge. And I was like, ryan, no. Oh, why'd you.
B
Why did you sit? Sweating?
A
He was like, because I was asking you for a beach towel, and you. And I was like, well, I didn't know why you needed the beach, so it's partly my fault. And he was like, I had to sit down, like, I was gonna pass out. And I was like, okay, here's the thing. Like, when you finished your run, like, it was almost as if he ran all the way to my door. Like, to our.
B
Oh. He was, like, panting until the very last second.
A
Yeah. Like, it was as if he literally just stopped running. I was like, so next time, could you, like, stop at the corner and then walk into the building? Like, it's like he was running in the elevator. And he was like, no, I did. He told me where he stopped. I was like, wow. I mean, it's been really hot here.
B
Yeah.
A
But the panic was that I have all this pretty nice furniture, and I have this.
B
A boy did. It did.
A
Stained.
B
It stained.
A
So as soon as he got up, obviously, there's a puddle. And so I'm like, on chat. GPT. Like, how do I fix this? What's the bet? Like, what should I do? Preventative.
B
What do I do?
A
Yeah, because I got them treated when I first got them, and it said, like, I hope, but it said, dab them with, like, mild Soap and water. Classic. And I did. But then, like, I look today and there's still just like an outer. The rim. Yeah. And so, you know, whatever. But. But this morning he went on a run. I placed a beach towel right on the chair. Before he arrived, I set it up. I was like, his throne is ready. But it was just this whole thing. I was like, that's so weird. Cuz, like, when I walk into my apartment, I go straight to the shower if I'm sweaty like that. Or, you know, you stand for a little bit. But I also empathize with him. Like, if he was literally about to pass out, like. But then I was like, why can't you sit on the floor?
B
Or I was thinking, why can't he put the toilet seat down and sit? I suggested.
A
I was like, could you sit on.
B
The toilet or on the floor? On the bathroom floor? Even in. On the. Like, isn't there like a tub edge?
A
Not in like, his bathroom that I.
B
Gave him his assigned about his quarters.
A
It'll all be better when we're like, in our space together. But it is my furniture that I bought. So now I'm just having to let go and be like, this is.
B
This is the con of having nice furniture. Is that it gets.
A
If you went to carry one day.
B
You'Re gonna be the couch cover family.
A
I'm gonna be putting towels down. I'm gonna be like, you can. You can say, thankfully, he hasn't sound like, oh, my God, if he sat on the couch, I would have lost it. Because that's like where you get comfy, cozy, and like, yeah, no, that's not.
B
Good to be like. I would be, you know, gross.
A
But also, those cushions I can wash. I could take them off anyways. It was just like, those chairs are nice.
B
They're nice chairs. I get it.
A
Expensive. But, you know, that's okay. It's a learning lesson. And I'm not buying any furniture anytime soon. We're just gonna. But I'm just accepting the fact.
B
Of course. I mean, the thing is, like, the furniture was great for you, but now you see, is it great for life?
A
Yeah.
B
You learn to live.
A
Yeah. You learn to just live through it. And yeah. It's like you have kids one day.
B
Like, I mean, my parents, like, when they first get like a new kitchen table, there so many rules. It's like, yeah, you do not think about putting something on that table without having the placemat or a coaster or whatever. And then 10 years in, who gives a. Yeah. Honestly, like, you might as well Just take a knife to it and start scratching it yourself, like, because, like, you.
A
Know, we're not coastering.
B
Yeah, but I feel like at first, it's like the new table, you know, so, like, you have to get used to your things.
A
Yeah, no, he wore that chair in. Now I don't care about that chair. Chair.
B
That was. Maybe that's a sweaty chair. Ryan's sweaty chair.
A
This is Ryan's chair. I put. Yeah, no, it. It was a funny little moment, but other than that, it's been going great. It's been really nice to not have to, like, plan when we hang out and stuff, and we actually talk a little bit about it on. In next week's episode, so be good.
B
Oh, yeah. Next week's episode is a really fun one.
A
It's so funny. It's so funny. But, yeah, thanks for listening to my panic.
B
I had a little panic, too, and we can. Oh, you do have a panic.
A
I was just. In case you didn't have.
B
I went to a book event this week. I was invited. It was super fun. And I get invited to book events sometimes because, like, I post about reading. But, like, let's be so for real. Like, I'm like, I'm a girl who likes books. Like, I wouldn't consider myself a book influencer. Like, there is a difference. There's a difference.
A
Really? Because, like, I think you're a book influencer.
B
What do you mean? So nice of you. I mean, people like, you know, I'm Brooke Mitchell. I do the podcast. I, you know, I. Yeah. Post about whatever. Like, and I like to read. But, like, there are people who, like, you know, they run, like, a book account, similar to how people run, like, a cooking account or, like, what, you know, like.
A
And it's like, that's true.
B
But I'm talking to these people who are, like, serious readers, and I have to pretend like, you know, I. I have to. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. And they hit you with the. What's your favorite book? I'm panicking. I mean, that's like, equivalent to, like, what's your favorite restaurant in the city? Like, I'm like, I don't know. I've never been out to eat here, actually.
A
I. I literally don't know any books.
B
Never read a book. No, I. And I say tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Because that's like.
A
Like, it's themed. Okay.
B
And it's, like, a great book. Like, I really enjoyed it. But then I was like, damn, like, I need to work on my list. Like, you know, Delaney has her list of top however many movies, all five movies. Like, I gotta get my book. My, my list cleaned up. One girl I was talking to. Because then I'm like talking about how many books? Like, I've been obviously way down this year. But I mean, my, my, that I read the most books. I read like a little over 50, which was a ton. I'm talking to one girl. She's already read 100 this year. No. And it's July.
A
Did you ask her the cadence at which she reads?
B
Yes, she said she reads pretty fast. I said, do you watch tv? She's like, sometimes. Like, I had to know about her lifestyle. Like, I was. I need to.
A
You're like, let's talk about this. Like, I need to compare myself here.
B
Yeah. Well, she said that, like, after work she works a traditional job, but like, you know, she gets home at like maybe 4:30 or something, she said, and she'll read until 8. Like, she'll read.
A
So she doesn't read phone. She's an influencer about books, though, so she's got it.
B
But they don't really, like, see it as a job. From what I see. A lot of these people also are really big on Goodreads. Like, that's like their platform. Like, they like, you know, are like Carrie Bradshaw with the Goodreads review.
A
Wow, that's so cool.
B
Yeah. Which is always really impressive because I do look at them sometimes and I'm like, wow, they're doing the Lord's work, these people. Like writing up these reviews. Do you ever check the Goodreads, like, before you read a book?
A
Every now and then.
B
Just. I just, I don't really read all the reviews because it kind of gives it away way. But I'll look for the score.
A
Like, yeah, if I'm in a bookstore.
B
Like, I'm like, oh, never heard of this. Let me look it up. And if it's like a two, I'm like, oh, no.
A
Yeah. I feel like most of the books I've read, either you or Emily or Margo have read them. But if I've, if I've needed to go elsewhere, I have gone there.
B
Yeah, that's, it's, that's just like a general gauge. I mean, like, there's also times that I like a book that's not generally liked. But for the most part, I feel like I like popular books for a reason because, like, the masses like them, you know.
A
Definitely.
B
Yeah. And they ask me, what, what do you read? You know, And I'm like, I have to clean up My answer for that, too. Like, I'm working on refining. So that was my panic was being like a cosplay book and.
A
Yeah, no, that would panic me, too. That's like when you're at the theme park. At the park at Universal, same thing. You gotta, like.
B
I know. I gotta. I gotta tidy up my sub interests, I guess.
A
Have to have your answers aligned.
B
Yeah, I know.
A
That's really funny.
B
It literally is. Like, you know, when they, like, are at the door, name five brothers. Like, name.
A
Yeah, literally. You're like, forget every book I've ever read, actually. Oh, that's funny. Well, I have hope in you. And I've seen you reading a lot lately.
B
I have been reading a lot. I don't really have a book. Then they were saying, like, they were talking about, like, having a book goal. And they were like, you know, book goals are stupid. It's important to live your life. Like, saying, like, the people who've read hundreds of books as you're saying this, I was like, huh? I mean, but. But do you live your. Like, how do you live your life and read hundreds of books? Like, I don't understand. I mean, unless you. I think that they read really, really fast, these people.
A
And I probably read, like, literally every mode of transportation. Like, any downtime, like, at the dock.
B
They probably don't scroll. I mean, to be honest, I spent a fucking ton of time scrolling.
A
Yeah, but it's important for our job.
B
Thank you for backing me up.
A
Yes.
B
And that's that.
A
And that's that. Yeah. Welcome to gals in the go 2.0. Or is it like 4.0?
B
No, it's definitely like 6.0, but 6.0. Yeah.
