A dog's love letter to his squeaky avocado.
Jerry (dog's voice)
Dearest squeaky Avocado, my heart yearns to chew thee. Alas, I've devoured a small action figure and have taken ill, unable to partake in our jubilant squeakings. Worry not, as I am on the mend. And Lemonade pet insurance covered 90% of the veterinarian's cost. I recommend all the cats and dogs of the land. Josh Arnold, investment consultant, brings you Garage lodging podcast number 1757. April 14th, 2026. 89 degrees. The record high in this day. That was 2003 and it was 18 degrees on this day and two occasions. 1826. I don't know where they found that. 1826 rarely shows up in the records. And again in 1928. And on this day in 1983, April 14th. Almost 14 inches of snow on this day. And ice outs today. Of course there are, because we're in the peak ice out season. Minnetonka went out on this day in 1877-1887-1918-1932, 1941, 1961 and 2011. White Bear Lake went out on this day, also in 1961, and then she went back to back in 1983 and 1984. Joe Sucere
and now from the mayor's office above the boathouse on the east shore of Spoon Lake, it's Garage Logic with Chris Reivers manning technology corner, Kenny Olson from the crabby coffee shop, John he in the newsroom, and of course the rookie. Here is your flashlight, King, fireworks commissioner, and the keeper of common sense, your mayor, Joe Succier. Before we get to the fellow who skipped town, a fraudster who skipped town. He had taken $11 million fraudulently in a Medicaid program. Could we have an Ilhan Omar update? Here is your latest Ilhan Omar report on garagelogic. Thank you. Boy, does that sound terrible, especially out of one ear. There's legislation, there's dozens of annual budget bills that pass federally to keep the government operating and to avoid short term continuing resolutions. And according to the site, the Hill tucked into a minibus funding, I think that's, as in the word omnibus, this is a minibus funding.
Chris Reivers
Several departments different than the Megabus.
Joe Sucere
That's right, yeah. Several departments and agencies. The requested Community Project fund would give $1,031,000 to the Somali led organization Generation Hopes Justice Empowerment Initiative. The earmark had also been backed by Minnesota Senators Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar, who is Generation Hope, the Minneapolis based Somali operated nonprofit was incorporated in 2021. The nonprofit received its IRS tax exempt status in 2021. IRS records show that only one Form 990 tax return has ever been filed for the and that return covered calendar year 2023. In 2023, the nonprofit reported 167 grand in revenue. A search for Generation Hope in the state of Minnesota charity's database returns no results. On its website, the nonprofit lists several funding sources, including the city of Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota. Media reports indicate the earmark was later stripped from the bill before passage. I believe we have some audio. Is it Iowa? Iowa's Joni Ernst.
Chris Reivers
Joe, this is the representative from Iowa, Joni Ernst. She's a Republican Senator. I'm sorry, Senator. Thank you, Kenny.
Joe Sucere
And she came upon this million dollars in 1,031,000 that was to go to this local Somali run outfit.
Unknown Guest (possibly a political commentator)
One of our spending bills making its way through Congress was a $1 million earmark from Representative Ilan Omar of Minnesota, which was an earmark that was supposedly going to a substance abuse clinic which actually happened to be housed in a restaurant and run by three individuals that share the same residential address, according to their IRS paperwork. Tons of red flags. So this is what we saw with the fraud involving the daycare centers. Now we see other earmarks coming directly from members of Congress where it seems fraud is being perpetrated as well. So I raised the issue and fortunately the House has now stripped that earmark out of that spending bill. But again, this is how easy money has been flowing to bad actors in Minnesota.
Joe Sucere
It's, I think, particularly noteworthy that Klobuchar and Flanagan certainly joined in to try to get the money sent here.
Chris Reivers
Do you admire the persistence?
Joe Sucere
No. Here's a current analogy. It's occurring to me that the fraud in Minnesota is the equivalent. Is the fraud equivalent of the Epstein files? There's a lot going on that we don't know anything about.
E (female commentator)
Okay, but why isn't Ilhan Omar taken to task? Or is she upset that it's not now going to this substance abuse address?
Joe Sucere
I don't know that. I think Ilhan, it seems to me, was caught with her hand attempting to reach into the cookie jar and is really now not found, not found guilty of anything. That that request was stripped from the the bill. So this phony outfit in Minneapolis this time around is not going to get the million bucks.
E (female commentator)
So there will be zero accountability.
Joe Sucere
Again, I don't think there'll be any accountability whatsoever. I wanted to do that to lead into the fact that we have a. The largest fraud case was the $11 million stolen by Abdira Shid Ismail. Said,
E (female commentator)
you are getting so good on these names.
Joe Sucere
I really am.
E (female commentator)
Just unbelievable.
Chris Reivers
He's from Roseville.
E (female commentator)
Yes.
Joe Sucere
Police are looking for a 50 year old Abdir Rashad.
Chris Reivers
Did he graduate locally?
Joe Sucere
He took off. He had 11 mil taken in a Medicaid fraud and he split. He missed his April 7th. I think we've covered this before, but we're gonna now cover it. This is deeply frustrating. Ellison wrote. However, I remain committed to doing everything I can to hold Said and other Medicaid fraudsters accountable. I believe you, Keith. I believe Keith is right on top. Top of this.
E (female commentator)
We don't know that.
Joe Sucere
Yeah. When the charges were announced against said, he and two other people in 2023, a special state unit designated for fraud investigations. Because we see. We just can't say right and wrong. You need new government to weigh in on this.
Chris Reivers
Well, the old, they can't handle it, Joe. Yeah, we got to have a new.
Joe Sucere
So he had a special state unit designated for fraud within the state federal Medicaid program called the case prosecution ever charged. Said is charged with racketeering, perjury, eight counts of aiding and abetting theft by swindle for reportedly defrauding the Medicaid program through three home health care agencies he operated from 2019 through 2023. Said was barred from being a Medicaid provider due to past fraud in 2016, 2017 as the owner of Ultimate Health Care in northeast Minneapolis. In that case, he was accused of tricking the state Department of Human Services into paying him more than 77 grand in personal care attendant services. Wow. We got a hell of a government working for us. They're just. They're just fantastic. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to theft by swindle and was put on probation, ordering to repay that 77 grand and barred from working for any Medicaid funding programs. Then how could it be that he kept getting the money?
E (female commentator)
Great question.
Joe Sucere
He repaid that money. But prosecutors allege he was involved in a far bigger fraud. They contend he was undisclosed manager. He was an undisclosed manager for Medicaid funded agencies that reportedly billed millions for undocumented or fraudulently documented services. The same guy they've already found to be a troublemaker.
E (female commentator)
Red flags all over.
Joe Sucere
Undisclosed manager for something much bigger. Investigators searched three businesses at the former site of Said's previous company in the 2500 block of Central Avenue in Minneapolis. Several other Medicaid providers were searched. Months later, investigators found Said was helping manage three agencies, Minnesota Home, Fame Health and Prestige Health, that were conspiring to fraudulently bill the Medicaid program for providing home and community based waivered services and personal care assistance services. They unearthed a web of connections between the companies, which had some of the same customers and workers, and transferred money to one another, according to the Attorney General's office. Also charged as co conspirators in the case are Ali Abdirazak Ahmed of Minnetonka and Said Awil Ibrahim of Minneapolis. They're charged with racketeering and aiding and abetting theft by swindle. Four other people have been charged. Bond documents show that by posting $150,000 bond in December of 2023, said avoided having to surrender his passport. A senior investigator in the case expressed concern in late 2023 that Saeed might flee the country because he has a wife and child in Nairobi, Kenya. A spokesman for the Attorney General's office, Brian Evans, said prosecutors requested $1 million in bail, but they didn't get that. So the guy who took 11, he is. He is long gone.
E (female commentator)
Splitsville.
Joe Sucere
He ain't coming back. He's gone and he's got your 11 mil.
F (male commentator)
Who decides what kind of bail or bond the guy gets?
Joe Sucere
Prosecutors request it. It's up to the judge.
F (male commentator)
It was a $150,000 unconditional bond. Under that kind of bond you don't have to surrender your passport.
Joe Sucere
Right.
F (male commentator)
I would argue that he doesn't deserve. I mean, he should have been held in custody.
Joe Sucere
Absolutely.
F (male commentator)
He didn't have one single employee.
G (male commentator)
No.
F (male commentator)
And him and his three co conspirators for some reason were passing the money around to each other, writing each other's checks. For some reason we don't understand.
Joe Sucere
Well, we do understand they were stealing it.
E (female commentator)
Well, somebody I know.
F (male commentator)
But why were they? You write me this check and then I'll write him this check and then that'll transfer back. What? What? Is that all?
Joe Sucere
Maybe it was some sort of quasi laundering of the money.
F (male commentator)
Yeah, it had to be.
Joe Sucere
Might have been. It looked good for a while.
F (male commentator)
Yeah, it had to be.
E (female commentator)
What's missed is the fact that if he was indeed a fugitive and was not supposed to leave the country, somebody didn't get in touch with the FAA side. So when he purchased his ticket and printed out his boarding pass, there's a code on there that says he's not supposed to fly.
Joe Sucere
You could have tackled this guy and saved the taxpayers of Minnesota.
F (male commentator)
My God, you'd be a hero.
E (female commentator)
Tell you what the hero we would.
F (male commentator)
The state would probably legitimately have to write you a check for a mill.
Chris Reivers
Matthew doesn't.
E (female commentator)
I would only give back 10,000.
Chris Reivers
Doesn't that though suggest that this guy probably didn't use his real name?
Joe Sucere
I have no idea.
E (female commentator)
If you're international, you got to make the passport. Has to.
Joe Sucere
Here's what I do know. But here's what I do know. The state of Minnesota has no hope unless it starts over. That's naive of me because we'll not start over. The second best thing they can do is pass this law. I've been touting that the state should no longer be allowed to fund nonprofits. They can't do it.
Chris Reivers
Let's step fast.
Joe Sucere
They either can't do it or they want it to be stolen.
F (male commentator)
If you ask me that's a bad idea. But if you ask me, that's the only idea. What else are you going to do? A lot of people would suffer but give me a better option.
Chris Reivers
But the people.
Joe Sucere
I don't have a better option.
F (male commentator)
Yeah, there isn't one.
Chris Reivers
But the people that are in charge of making those laws are the ones in on the fix. Such as Ilhan, Omar and Klobuchar.
Joe Sucere
And who's this other Tina Smith? Bird brain Tina Smith.
F (male commentator)
Minnesota was like the gold rush for Somalians. And they're still coming over here and pan and gold every single day. And we're robbing us.
Joe Sucere
And we don't know the bottom. We don't know yet. We've been told by many people in positions of authority that we. We have no idea how vast this is. It's like it's the analogous to the Epstein files. Either it's all there. It just isn't coming out like trying
F (male commentator)
to get to the bottom of an iceberg.
Chris Reivers
I don't know if that's true.
John Haidt
They don't even have any people working at these agencies.
Joe Sucere
So they request the data and they don't go anywhere. The people who are the attorneys that should actually be prose on ice cases. The lead prosecutor quit yesterday. Fraud is a long forgotten thing for everybody except me and people in Minnesota who know we need to prosecute it and do what's right. God, you're a disingenuous.
Chris Reivers
You know, when you started the letter D, I thought you were gonna say something real.
Joe Sucere
No, no, Kenny, you came across something interesting. None of us were aware of.
F (male commentator)
I stumbled on it by accident. There's a hearing tomorrow to impeach the governor of Minnesota.
Joe Sucere
Do we know who tackling fraud. Do we know who's behind it? The Democrats?
F (male commentator)
No, no, but there is a whole, whole thing. All you have to do is Google Governor Minnesota impeachment. And I'm still stumbling through it because I just discovered it 15 minutes ago.
Chris Reivers
Not that I'm against it, but doesn't. Don't proceedings like that take forever? I mean, he's going to be out of office.
Joe Sucere
It's not going to happen. It's just interesting.
E (female commentator)
I was just curious.
Chris Reivers
I didn't know.
F (male commentator)
A political news site called Minneapolis Today by the People for the People have no idea which way they lean. But on April 10, they published a piece titled Minnesota Lawmakers Push to Impeach Governor Walz. Republican lawmakers in Minnesota moving forward with efforts to impeach the governor and Attorney General Keith Ellison, citing the state's handling of a massive fraud scandal tied to the Feeding Our Future program.
Joe Sucere
Right.
F (male commentator)
The impeachment push has sparked a heated political battle with Democrats blasting it as a stunt.
Joe Sucere
Well, the Democrats, of course, would not want to.
F (male commentator)
They don't pull stunts, Joe.
Joe Sucere
No, they. No, no. That's their. That's their breadwinner. If they didn't have such an amenable governor looking the other way on this stuff, they couldn't have got away with what they got away with.
E (female commentator)
Yep.
Joe Sucere
And they got away with it to the point where Abdi, whatever his name is, Saeed, is now at the resort he just purchased in Nairobi or whatever the hell he did with the 11 million.
E (female commentator)
Nice pristine real estate in Kenya or
F (male commentator)
Nairobi or it was. I'm telling you, they're picking gold nuggets off the ground. That's how easy it was to rob this. We must be shopped around the world as a destination to go where you can take money out of the pockets of rubes. Do we seriously to change our name to Elmer we are a state of rubes.
Joe Sucere
Yesterday it was the front page. I told you over the weekend, the big blaring story in the Daily Mail about how this is the most fraudulent state in the country.
Chris Reivers
It's the most.
Joe Sucere
It's gaining. It's just got a wonderful reputation.
F (male commentator)
They've got a Minnesota desk. Yeah. It's just one person.
E (female commentator)
Yeah.
Joe Sucere
It's amazing.
John Haidt
Shouldn't the judge here be.
Joe Sucere
Wasn't it Anne West?
John Haidt
No, it wasn't. It was. I looked it up. Judge Juan Hoyos.
Joe Sucere
Oh, I'm sorry.
John Haidt
Because the AG wanted a million dollars bail, and he gave them two options. 50 grand and give me your passport. Or 150 grand, you get to keep your passport. Well, if the AG is asking for a million, why would you go that low, John?
Joe Sucere
Give his name again. So, Rook, or do you have it already in front of you who this
F (male commentator)
fellow is not U A N Juan.
John Haidt
Juan Rook Hoyos.
F (male commentator)
H O Y O S Hennepin County
Joe Sucere
District County District Judge.
E (female commentator)
Judge Juan G Hyo still appointed by Mark Dayton on the September of 2014. Elected in 16 and 22 current team. Expires the New Year's Eve of 28. Bio. Earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law, Bachelor's degree from U of M UMD before taking the bench, he worked as both a prosecutor and public defender in Ramsey county, handling serious felony cases. Currently serves as adjunct professor at the UST School of Law and has been a mentor in the St. Thomas Mentor Externship Program for 15 years. He resides in Minneapolis with his wife and two daughters.
Joe Sucere
Can we look him? Can we attempt to call him Gabe? You know, it's always worth the effort to call him and say, what the hell's wrong with you?
Chris Reivers
What's up, Juan?
F (male commentator)
John, tell me again what you said about him and the setting of the book bond or bail.
John Haidt
The Attorney General's office asked for $1 million.
F (male commentator)
Okay.
John Haidt
He set either 50 grand and turning or 50 grand and turn in your passport. Okay, 150 grand and keep your passport. He chose the judge 150 grand to keep your passport, even though the AG's office told the judge he is a flight risk because of his wife and child in Kenya.
F (male commentator)
And then, ironically, John, it was that Judge Hoyos that canceled the tr, forfeited the bond and issued a warrant for his arrest.
E (female commentator)
Well, you know what his response is going to be? I can't talk about litigation. It's. It's like it's behind that.
Chris Reivers
It's like it's a game show. Hey, here's what we got.
F (male commentator)
You're right.
Chris Reivers
Here's what we got,
Joe Sucere
buddy. Said, who's the judge? I got. I got Juan. Oh, hell.
G (male commentator)
You're gone, baby.
E (female commentator)
You're gone.
Chris Reivers
Just don't go over. Guess the line, Spitz. Don't go over like it's. The price is bleeping, right?
Joe Sucere
Honest to God.
F (male commentator)
Stop over in Amsterdam for some heroin and hookers, then go home to the
Chris Reivers
family, play the showcase showdown.
Joe Sucere
I'm glad that cracker Jack St. Thomas University has him on staff as a mentor.
Chris Reivers
Oh, my God.
Joe Sucere
Honest to God, we're what's up.
F (male commentator)
Well, we don't understand the law enough to get too critical.
E (female commentator)
No, we don't.
Joe Sucere
Only one more day, by the way. Pay those taxes.
Chris Reivers
Linda. Keller. Keller Tax Service.
Joe Sucere
Don't you be late. Hell, they'll pull the rug out from under you. Viva come after you, you're a dollar short. They'll find you. This screwball is in Ethiopia floating in his pool.
Chris Reivers
That house gone? Yeah, you paid it on the 16th.
F (male commentator)
Minnesota. Met the mailman at the curb and grabbed my check and went right to the bank. That I've never seen a check cash that fast in my life.
E (female commentator)
Pretty efficient there, huh, Kenny? How it was right up top of
Chris Reivers
that we all bailed hay for those sketchy farmers back in the day. We ran to the bank.
Joe Sucere
Yeah. Don't catch this tell the milk chat comes.
F (male commentator)
Yeah, I remember.
Chris Reivers
And we listened. Okay, I'll wait till Tuesday.
Joe Sucere
We the people of the United States. Wow. We the people have shrunk to almost microscopic size as the government continues to fleece us federally, regionally, locally. And we've let it happen because we have had a great life. But it's ending before your very eyes. It's just ending before your very eyes. And I keep reminding myself that the bad actors elected to the city council in Minneapolis is not an accident. Minneapolis is full of citizens who prefer that Marxist view of the world. That's why they keep electing Chugtai and Wansley and Chavez and. What's that Aisha's name? Chugati. Chugati. That's who they want.
E (female commentator)
Hoyos is not leaving any telephone numbers to contact him.
Joe Sucere
No, he wouldn't talk anyway.
E (female commentator)
Probably not. But that's. The other thing is, I'm frustrated that everybody hides behind, can't comment on current legislation.
Joe Sucere
The public class has done a marvelous job of insulating themselves from reality. I know there are G ellers who work for the state and work for the city, and they work hard and they do what they're supposed to do. But when you get into the administrative levels, all bets are off, Right? All bets are off. They're enjoying the privileges of third rail, which they construe to be privileges of third rail. Basically, what it is is they allow themselves to deny the realities of what's taking place, which amazes me, because they still have to buy shoes for their kids and sign up for soccer lessons and all this other stuff. So they have to know what's happening. Although the government is attracting to its ranks more and more People who don't have families or kids or own a house, they eschew that in favor of a more streamlined lifestyle until they can steal enough to have a great lifestyle. Say, I'm telling you, it's the most fun story you'll ever attend. Ecofund Motorsports Forest Lake on Highway 97, just west of the interstate. Electric bike riding season is upon us. There's over 400 electric bikes in stock. They're on sale starting at 899. You will leave there with the perfect fit and all the right equipment. There are more than 130 motorcycles on display. There are Jet Skis and WaveRunners. And EcoFun is throwing in the $1,500 trailer upon the purchase. Youth recreational equipment. Little stuff for the kids. It's fantastic. The stuff you ride around the Y. You know, those Kawasaki or whatever they are. Those what I want to say, yard, mill. I don't know what they are. You know what you do? You get in them. You haul wood around and put a kid in the back and run down the lakeshore and it's just great stuff. It's the most fun store you'll ever enter. And it's also in Burnsville, on the service road of life near County Road 42. And a really, really tempting website, EcoFunMotorsports.

Joe Sucere this might be the best piece of music ever written in the history of man. Give, give me a little bit. Chris oh, that's soothing. And wondering about yesterday, something I said yesterday. Is it old fashioned or is it just common sense? I'm talking about Dave and his company, Pro Turf. When it comes to service, he's doing it the way he's always done it. His service techs that come right to our homes when they do the free estimate, it won't be a phone quote like you're getting everywhere else. What am I talking about? I'm talking about that yard of yours, that beautiful yard that you've been dreaming about just a click away. ProfessionalTurf.com now when you meet these fellows and sign up, they're going to set clear and accurate expectations, combining your ideas with their 35 years of experience. That goes across the board. I mean, if you're talking irrigation or landscape or just lawn treatments, there's no upsells here just for the treatments. Just a reminder, in the spring when it's time to renew, when that tech comes out to your place, they're going to walk the yard and then come up with a program designed for your conditions. It'll be a combination of liquid and granular, fertilizer and weed killer. And it's going to take care of everything. The weeds will be gone and you'll have the best lawn on the block. And the great thing about pro turf, if you see something between treatments, usually you get about three, maybe four a year, call them right away. They have specialized guys that will hop in a truck, get out there and take care of it that day. It's all environmentally safe and guaranteed for superior results. Forgive me, Dave, all you have to do is hop onto professionalturf.com they've been at it since 82. Exceptional lawn care, landscape, landscape and irrigation service. Professionalturf.com had a little frog in my throat.
Chris Reivers
That's okay.
Joe Sucere
There's a site, I think it's in the UK called the Daily Skeptic.
F (male commentator)
Yeah.
Joe Sucere
And we're learning that many scientists are saying the quiet part out loud. That high gas prices are good for the climate. I don't. I don't like that. But what are you going to do? There's been some confident, even masterly, not so competent analysis by instant expert talking heads in social and mass media. But a recent article by an economist in the Conversation offered a solution so perversely tone deaf it could have been lifted from a Babylon B satirical script. Citing research that a 10% rise in UK petrol prices can cut demand by up to 5%, the piece solemnly declared that high prices are a way of adjusting consumption to cope with lower supply. No kidding. Really? I could have come up with that and I'm not a scientist.
F (male commentator)
Do you believe those numbers? A 10% rise results in a flow cut in demand by 5%.
Joe Sucere
I don't, no. With refined products suddenly scarcer, the proper response is not to produce more fuel where the country is blessed with domestic fuel resources like the uk, or to import more sources outside the Strait of Hormuz. Or both. Instead, the advice from Kristof Seamroth, Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Texas, is to make what little remains even more expensive so that people drive less, take the bus and hasten the glorious transition to net zero. In order for me to read the rest of this article, you have to spend some money. I would have had to have donated 50 bucks a year to the Daily Skeptic, then create an account on the website. You know what? I ain't doing that. No wonder. When I printed it out, it was about 50 blank pages.
F (male commentator)
When you say the words Lecturer in Economics at the University of Essex, do you get a little sleepy? Yeah, my eyes get heavy.
Joe Sucere
I'm seeing a guy who lives within walking distance of the campus. He eats his meals on campus, he's paid a handsome salary, he doesn't have to go anywhere, he doesn't do anything. He pontificates and then walks back to his flat, which is a lovely little vine colored place. And he doesn't have to have a car, he doesn't even need a bus. And he just thinks that for the rest of us, that's all we have to do.
F (male commentator)
And he has a hooker come in once a week. It looks like his grandma.
Joe Sucere
Either that or he gets it on with his student. It just hasn't been caught yet.
F (male commentator)
Like the guy in what was the college movie we love so much?

No, Animal House.
F (male commentator)
Animal House.

And every once in a while, somebody stops by his place and grabs his folk guitar and smashes the hell out of it. And then says, I'm sorry, and keep going. Because that's all he has to do is then worry about walking to the local guitar store and just get a new folk guitar. And he has no idea. See, the academy is also the third rail. Remember? Right, the academy. They're on the third rail. There was a time, you know, I've referred to this a thousand times, but David Gelertner alerted us to this. There was a time when a fruitcake like this lived in your neighborhood. What's his name? Let's get his name here. It's a great name. I got it. Christoph Smeeroth Seymroth.
E (female commentator)
You sound like Trump. It's a great name.

It's Kristof Seymour. There was a time when Kristof lived in your neighborhood, probably had a couple kids. You saw him at the store, you saw him at the gas station, you saw him at the playground. Maybe even ran into him at church. He was part of the action. He was part of the neighborhood. What's Kristof do? Well, he's at Essex. He's a university guy, and he's buddies with Fred, the insurance salesman. And. And now the Academy. The likes of the Kristoffs of the world of the Academy, they don't interact with other people. They're separate. They're third railers.
E (female commentator)
True.
Joe Sucere
I don't know any college professors. Do you? No. And the one I do know, we love to haggle with each other because he disagrees with everything I've ever said. I disagree with everything he's ever said.
E (female commentator)
What am I going to say?
Chris Reivers
Please, go ahead. You just looked rookie dead in the eye and ass.
Joe Sucere
I didn't look at him.
E (female commentator)
No. He said, I don't know any college professors. But the one I do know, he has the red car and the paint is house blue.
Chris Reivers
No, I thought you were gonna go with I don't know any college professors.
Joe Sucere
He's looking at you right in the eye.
Chris Reivers
Do you like? No, I. I have a. Yeah, I know three.
Joe Sucere
Why?
Chris Reivers
Like, what the hell?
Joe Sucere
I have a friend who's a college professor or was. I don't know his current stat Callister and We, we get along famously. I love the guy. And he. But we have really, really different views of the whole climate deal.
Chris Reivers
Yes.
E (female commentator)
On my trip to Princeton, I had coffee with the.
Joe Sucere
And he lives in a neighborhood and he's got a kid, if not more than that. And he's married and he's got a car. And he, he's. I think he's pretty much avoided the third rail.
F (male commentator)
He likes Eggos.
Joe Sucere
Yeah. He has coffee in the morning.
F (male commentator)
He's one plain one with butter every morning with his.
G (male commentator)
Right.
Chris Reivers
No, he's a sycophant. Fashion. You did give him the nod, like. Yeah.
E (female commentator)
Does John Tower count as a college.
Joe Sucere
I'm not going to count John Tower. He's a coach.
E (female commentator)
He's a coach. He's a psychologist with a doctorate degree. That's the one guy I know. Johnny Tower.
Joe Sucere
Yeah. He's a shrink, isn't he?
E (female commentator)
A psychologist?
Joe Sucere
Yeah, same thing.
F (male commentator)
Could you send me his number?
Joe Sucere
Close enough. Yeah. You can't help me.
E (female commentator)
He won't be able to help you.
Chris Reivers
He's scanning the room to ask about college professors.
Joe Sucere
No. You know why they are. You know why they are the third rail? Because they are in a situation where they can't believe what the rest of us think.
John Haidt
That's funny.
Joe Sucere
They. They just can't understand that we're beneath that. Well, they, they, they can't understand why we don't buy all of their BS all the time.
John Haidt
Oh. Kind of like podcast hosts.
F (male commentator)
It is.
Joe Sucere
Except podcast hosts starting on the third rail trail. Yeah.
John Haidt
That's a good boy.
E (female commentator)
What do you want to know about Judge Hoyos?
Joe Sucere
I want to know everything.
E (female commentator)
He's a big fan of Garage Logic. He said he would come on at about 1 o' clock this afternoon.
Joe Sucere
You're kidding me.
E (female commentator)
I am. I just left a message. I knew I just left a message.
Chris Reivers
Will you do me a favor?
Joe Sucere
His name isn't George. You
Chris Reivers
Will you ask Judge George if he also knows any college professors?
E (female commentator)
Yes, I will find out. No, I didn't. I left message.
Joe Sucere
He is one. He's a mentor at that cracker Jack St. Thomas.
E (female commentator)
I feel like I know him. That's two.
Joe Sucere
Now, Juan Hoyos.
Chris Reivers
Can you hope. Please.
Joe Sucere
I smoke Hoyo de Monterey.
E (female commentator)
That's what I'm saying.
John Haidt
Yeah.
E (female commentator)
Oh, a good cigar right now, huh?
Joe Sucere
No, not right now. I'd probably screw up my ear.
E (female commentator)
What?
Joe Sucere
Huh? Why don't we take your time out?
Chris Reivers
Where are we going?
Joe Sucere

John Haidt
Wow. 2028. We're opening a big one here in Blaine with a Ferris wheel.
Chris Reivers
And it's such a cool store. But we're not here to talk about Scheels. We're here to talk about we are nuts and we are nuts is a Minnesota family owned company doing small batch fresh roasted nuts right here in Minneapolis. And you know what? Joe Sucere
Here's John Haidt.
John Haidt
Thank you Joe. This news is brought to you by North American Banking company. Severe storms brought baseball sized hail, strong winds and three confirmed tornado reports to southern Minnesota last night. The National Weather Service confirming a tornado touchdown in Blue Earth county around 6:25.
Joe Sucere
None of that happened because we didn't get anything.
John Haidt
Numerous videos and photos showed up on social media from a tornado near Truman, Minnesota. We had all kinds of storm chasers in Minnesota last night. They were coming from all around the
Chris Reivers
US Social media was very cool last night, John.
Joe Sucere
Yeah, there wasn't any. There wasn't. It wasn't any weather.
John Haidt
Of course there were more than 70. Boy, I wonder what I typed up here. There were more than 70 reports of confirmed on Monday night.
Joe Sucere
Confirmed hail, maybe hail.
John Haidt
I'm going with hail.
Joe Sucere
I would too.
John Haidt
As I recall the story, I believe it was hail. Many reports of broken windows and hail, damaged vehicles. If you want to see some cool pictures of hail, other cool pictures of hail, well there's a bunch on Channel 5 where people are holding in their hands and they put a golf ball beside it.
Chris Reivers
For those of you in that area, my brother sent me a very cool video of a lightning strike. Like you know, one of those things
E (female commentator)
can't be a good lightning strike.
Chris Reivers
Over Cannon Lake in Faribault. My God, was that cool.
E (female commentator)
Faribault got hit hard, didn't they?
Chris Reivers
Yeah, they got. They got pummeled pretty good last night.
Joe Sucere
Didn't happen. There wasn't anything around here.
Chris Reivers
Okay, well the Twins game didn't even get the leg.
John Haidt
But yeah, I sent a message. I was at the game.
Joe Sucere
It was late. It always be in the paper.
F (male commentator)
What was the final of that game?
Joe Sucere
13 to 6.
John Haidt
13 to 6. Chris. Chris sent me a letter. He thought the game was gonna be delayed. A letter?
Chris Reivers
Well, I knew you were there. I sent Johnny a text. I said is there because I wanted to watch the ball game last night.
John Haidt
But it was Already one zip. When you texted me.
Chris Reivers
For those of you that may have missed Monday Night Sports Talk yesterday, I urge you to do so because Joe and Pat obviously recapped the Masters, which is a wonderful, wonderful tournament every year. But they also went through the Minnesota Star Tribune sports section in which Joe read all of the non existent box scores.
G (male commentator)
Oh, no.
Chris Reivers
All the games, most of which were in the afternoon on Sunday and just went late.
John Haidt
Yikes.
F (male commentator)
Oh, they list them.
Joe Sucere
Philadelphia and Cincinnati. Oh, that one was late.
F (male commentator)
So they.
G (male commentator)
That.
F (male commentator)
That's actual evidence that they're not doing their job.
Chris Reivers
Don't give an F. Joe went through the entire.
F (male commentator)
You know what, Joe? We should do that here at gl. Every story that we're late on.
Joe Sucere
Yeah, late, late. Yeah, we're just late.
F (male commentator)
We just got to that one. I know. It happened a week ago.
Joe Sucere
I gave you some NBA scores, too.
Chris Reivers
Yeah.
Joe Sucere
Milwaukee at Chicago.
E (female commentator)
Chicago.
Joe Sucere
That was late.
Chris Reivers
Even though it was a one o', clock.
Joe Sucere
It was over about noon. God, it was so fun.
Chris Reivers
And you do get Tony Express, Kenny. You get at least three Royce.
F (male commentator)
It's the old days when they found
Joe Sucere
out the Civil War ended. That was like Marilyn Guardia reading the paper during the newspaper strike in New York. He read the paper to the. To the citizens of New York. And that's what we were doing. Oh, here's another game. Oh, that was late. Late.
E (female commentator)
God, that.
John Haidt
Ramsey county is investigating that arrest by federal agents who broke into a St. Paul home with guns drawn, handcuffed a man and forced him outside in the snow in his underpants and sandals, only to discover they had the wrong man. Ramsey county officials said in a statement Monday. Federal agents, quote, may have committed the crimes of kidnapping, burglary and false imprisonment in the January incident. The man wrongly detained Chong Li Tao, said the officers had no warrant. The two criminal illegal aliens who DHS said it sought in that raid turned out to be elsewhere. In fact, one of them was actually behind bars at the time in a Minneapolis area prison serving a four year sentence. Asked about the investigation, DHS said in a statement that U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement does not kidnap people. The Rosemount Apple Valley Eagan School Board approved earlier start times for two large elementary schools as part of bus service changes. Despite parent pushback. Last night, the Rosemount Apple Valley Eagan School Board approved the shifting start times at Woodland elementary and Eastlake elementary from 9:30am to 7:45am but with a twist from the original proposal, the board delayed the change from this fall to the 202728 school year to Allow families more time to plan for the impacts. The reason for all this? They can't hire any bus drivers. They can't find enough, they said. The district said the changes are meant to help the number of drivers pick up more students in shifts. The school board also voted to make bus service opt in in the fall and to eliminate it for some magnet schools. Among other changes. District rep said Woodland elementary and Eastlake elementary were picked because of their locations and the need for more bus routes. The district also acknowledges that the time changes affect about 1500 students and their families. Some may have to change schools to accommodate it. District leaders said canceling daily routes is not sustainable. They said by the end of February, bus service for 1,000 students or more was canceled on average each day.
Joe Sucere
Can I get something on the record?
John Haidt
Sure.
Joe Sucere
Let's go back to the Ilhan Omar update. She wants a million for this non existent group of frauds in Minneapolis and Tina Smith and Klobuchar sign onto it. Their excuse would be, well, we didn't know that was fake. You know what? It was probably an 1100 page bill and they just signed these things. They don't know what they are.
E (female commentator)
Comes across their desk.
Joe Sucere
I just want to factually state that I don't trust any politician in the state of Minnesota on either side of the aisle.
G (male commentator)
Zero.
Joe Sucere
None. That's all back to Jack. I just want that on there. I just don't trust any of the quote, Delaware's product. I don't believe any of them. That is, I don't look to any of them for improvement. I don't trust any of them.
F (male commentator)
And right now I'm hearing a lot of senators and representatives on both sides of the aisle. Aisle nodding and agreeing with you. I mean how could they argue that, you know.
John Haidt
Yeah, we're gonna take a short break here, but let me promo the fact that we now know who actually was voted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame this year. We'll have that story for you and lots more right after we hear from our friend Mr. Mikulski.

F (male commentator)
What's going on? Why was that me that I just
Chris Reivers
sent an email, Ken, asking the very same question?
F (male commentator)
Okay, so I'm not the only one having issues.
Chris Reivers
Well, I think maybe the. Well, no, I. I don't need to go.
F (male commentator)
Matthew, you were all. You were all the way to the end of that ad when I realized I was looking at myself. And it occurred to me, wait a minute.
E (female commentator)
On the screen.
Chris Reivers
I love that video, though, with the puppies playing. Oh, it was a good boy.
F (male commentator)
I was sitting there watching the dogs and I was right next to it and I didn't even notice me until the end.
Joe Sucere
Was he on the video?
John Haidt
Yeah, yeah, Kenny was.
E (female commentator)
That's cute.
F (male commentator)
And I sent you guys a text.
John Haidt
I saw it.
Joe Sucere
Yeah, we do the news, John.
E (female commentator)
I didn't see it because I was busy talking about american boarding kennel.com attaboy.
John Haidt
In. In news. US wholesale prices surged last month as the Iran war drove up the cost of energy. Labor Department reported this morning its producer price index, which measures inflation before it hits consumers, rose 0.5% from February and 4% from March of 2025. Year gains were the biggest in more than three years. Energy prices surged 8 and a half percent from February. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, so called core producer prices rose a modest 0.1% from February, 3.8% from a year earlier. The gains in wholesale prices were smaller than economic economists had forecast.
Joe Sucere
Well, the failed academy has that answer for you. Just use less air energy. There was a Minneapolis city councilwoman who just got defeated. What was her name? I think Elizabeth Schaefer might have taken her seat. She said the same thing on one of the local news channels about energy prices. Well, don't use. Don't use so much.
E (female commentator)
So not the problem solved.
John Haidt
A US Naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz went into effect yesterday yesterday morning, effective yesterday morning nine hour time at the direction of President Trump. But in a matter of hours the blockade was bruised, reached without incident by at least four Iran linked vessels. According to the BBC. Yesterday, the President had said he instructed the US Navy to seek and interdict every vessel in international waters that has paid a toll to Iran. And the US Military leader said the blockade will be enforced impartially against vessels of all nations. However, ship tracking data analyzed by BBC Verify revealed that at least four Iran linked vessels crossed the state of Hormuz without incident, two on Monday and two overnight.
Joe Sucere
So John, this isn't working.
John Haidt
I. I don't I that's what they're reporting. BBC and CBS also said they verified four ships that appeared not to work. Meanwhile, talks aimed at permanently ending the conflict, which began Feb. 28, failed to produce an agreement last weekend, but now Pakistan is proposing hosting a second round of talks in the coming days. Two Pakistani officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were authorized to talk about the matter, said the first talks were part of an ongoing diplomatic process rather than a one off effort. Two US Officials, also speaking on the condition of anonymity, said yesterday discussions were still underway about a new round of talks. They said that the venue, timing the composition of the delegations hadn't yet been decided, but that more talks could happen this Thursday. A couple of updates on stories illustrating the theory we talk about now and then the Undefeated theory Representative Eric Swalwell announced his plans Monday now to resign from Congress following calls from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle for him to step down amid sexual assault and misconduct allegations. Swalwell, a Democrat, saying, I am aware of efforts to bring an immediate expulsion vote against me and other members expelling anyone in Congress without due process within days of an allegation being made as wrong, wrong, but it's also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties, therefore I plan to resign from my seat in Congress. He didn't specify what exactly he intends to step down, saying instead he would work with his staff to ensure it can serve the needs of his congressional district. Meanwhile, Republican Representative Tony Gonzalez of Texas said he will retire from Congress after bipartisan calls to expand him. Gonzalez had already said he would not seek reelection after admitting to an affair with a staff member who later died by suicide. House Republican leaders had already called on the three term Gonzalez to not seek reelection as they try to hold on to a Republican district in November's midterm elections. And the House Ethics Committee had initiated an investigation. Under House ethics rules, lawmakers may not engage in a sexual relationship with any employee of the House under their supervision. A new drug to treat late stage pancreatic cancer has slashed the risk of death by 60% compared with chemotherapy, according to oncology company Revolution Medicines.
Joe Sucere
Wow.
John Haidt
Pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest forms of cancer, with a five year survival rate of only 13% for the more than 67,000 people diagnosed every year with it. At issue are mutations in a group of genes known as RAs. Now, a daily pill called dararaxinraceb has shown promise at targeting mutant RAS proteins, with patients surviving a median of 13.2 months, compared with 6 and a half months on chemotherapy. Former Senator Ben Sasse is one of the roughly 500 patients who took part in the trial. His tumor has shrunk by about 76% since late December.
Chris Reivers
I'm glad Ben Zas was able to
Joe Sucere
get to the bottom of that because pancreatic's a killer. It'd be nice to have that cured.
Chris Reivers
Yeah.
John Haidt
Columbia approved a plan yesterday to call up to 80 wild hippos. Where did the hippos come from? Your one night?
Joe Sucere
I can guess.
John Haidt
You know, don't you?
Joe Sucere
I bet. From a drug cartel.
John Haidt
That's correct. Pablo Escobar, when he was in charge, brought in one male and three females in 1980 to Colombia, had them imported, and from there we now have a hippo population of about 200.
F (male commentator)
All inbreds.
Joe Sucere
Wow. They're crazy. Hippos.
John Haidt
That has spread beyond Escobar's former estate and been declared an invasive species, threatening local ecosystems and communities. Escobar built one of the world's most powerful cocaine empires. His estate was a sprawling compound featuring a mansion, airstrips, artificial lakes and a private zoo. After Escobar was killed in 1993, the government seized the property and later turned it into a theme park. The hippos left behind because they were difficult to move, multiplied into the largest hippo population outside of Africa. Officials say prior efforts to control the hippos, including a sterilization and relocation, were costly and ineffective. Animal welfare activists urge non lethal Alternatives.
Joe Sucere
Remember that video? Or the discovery of that poor inbred family in Virginia?
F (male commentator)
Oh, boy.
Joe Sucere
Yeah, wasn't a lot of that. Has to be like this hippo family. They. They're probably all, you know, in the hippo world. They're probably.
Chris Reivers
Oh, there go the Johnsons.
John Haidt
Considered a little odd, you know, they're crazy.
E (female commentator)
They got to get out more, you know.
Joe Sucere
What good are hippos? I mean, I'm an anti tick guy, for example. I mean, are you anti hippo? Well, what, what do they do?
E (female commentator)
They patrol the.
John Haidt
They don't.
Joe Sucere
You don't.
Chris Reivers
Here comes Africa.
E (female commentator)
They're patrolling the, the water troughs and things like that.
Joe Sucere
They'll eat their own children. They're. They're just, they're not a nice animal. The hippo.
E (female commentator)
Hippo is very intense on yes theory
Chris Reivers
what you just played out. You know what I love about rook? He is willing to swing at any pitch.
E (female commentator)
Here it is, water drop.
Joe Sucere
There they.
E (female commentator)
They got the goats that come by and try to scare them off.
Joe Sucere
The hippos.
E (female commentator)
They're telling them with their big mouths
Joe Sucere
and their four teeth. Well, especially these hippos, they gotta be just crazy nuts.
E (female commentator)
They didn't like ticks. What didn't they do?
Chris Reivers
No ambition.
Joe Sucere
No ambition. No ambition.
F (male commentator)
Lack of knowledge has never slowed you down.
E (female commentator)
Yes, thank you.
Joe Sucere
Yes, thank you.
E (female commentator)
Appreciate that.
Joe Sucere
Ken.
John Haidt
The Hagstrom Viking 2 electric guitar that Elvis played during his 68 comeback special is up for auct right now at Sotheby's. It's expected to bring in about $2
Joe Sucere
million covered in mayonnaise and butter and no, it's red.
John Haidt
It's a gorgeous guitar comeback special, right?
F (male commentator)
A little turkey gravy there on the headstock.
John Haidt
Now this is still skinny Elvis. So this guitar became a symbol of Ellis Elvis's comeback. According to Craig insiardi, Sotheby's music and pop culture specialist guitars have always been central to his image. But seeing Elvis return to the stage after away dressed in the black leather outfit and playing this guitar created one of the most enduring images in rock history.
Joe Sucere
What do you know about three or four chords
E (female commentator)
talking music?
Joe Sucere
I'm serious question. He wasn't a guitar.
E (female commentator)
Music John.
Joe Sucere
John, serious question. He wasn't much of a guitar player.
John Haidt
He was fine. I mean, he played rhythm on most of his stuff. And if, if you've. You've seen this special, right?
Joe Sucere
I have.
John Haidt
He plays a little bit of lead on the special, so. So, you know, and he already explains that most Elvis guitars were acoustic. So he's like 98 of the other guitars.
F (male commentator)
John, admit it. What Joe said. You could say that about most guitar players. I mean, there's a. You guys know a few chords and you just, you know, fake the rest.
John Haidt
What did I just say? Do you listen to the show? It's 98 of the guitarists in rock. I just said right before you said that.
F (male commentator)
Maybe a hundred percent.
John Haidt
NCRD explains that most of Elvis's guitars were acoustic, making this guitar a standout. It's also his historically significant because it helped relaunch his live career. During a specially aired music event on NBC, December 3, 1968, Presley planned on playing another guitar instead of this Hagstrom, which originally belonged to session guitarist Al Casey. But he used this because the red matched the red and black color palette of the studio. It's also the only time Elvis used this guitar. It's been in the possession of several private collectors. Last time it was sold, it brought in $625,000 dollars. As I said, they're expecting about 2 million.
Joe Sucere
Why wouldn't that be worth more than a Jerry Garcia guitar?
John Haidt
I can think of a lot of reasons.
Joe Sucere
Well, is it Elvis far more famous
John Haidt
as a guitar player? No, Garcia would be, you know.
Joe Sucere
Yeah.
John Haidt
I did see some video of Derek Trucks playing that guitar, by the way, that brought in 11 million.
Chris Reivers
Yeah.
John Haidt
Played it at a couple concerts in New York.
Joe Sucere
Yeah.
E (female commentator)
No, but to your point, Elvis was more popular. It doesn't matter who's a better guitarist.
Joe Sucere
Well, he was a world record. He. He was world known.
E (female commentator)
Right. And Jerry Garcia would be what couple of notches below his notoriety? Not his guitar playing.
John Haidt
He's also a guitar Chris. You ready?
Joe Sucere
Icon.
John Haidt
He actually is.
Joe Sucere
John. Does that wrap up your news?
John Haidt
Well, you want the rock and roll.
E (female commentator)
Well, there is a. Oh, you got
Joe Sucere
to do the Rock and Roll hall of Fame.
E (female commentator)
No, simple Highway.
Joe Sucere
Rock and Roll hall of Fame. Here we go.
Chris Reivers
Buried the lead, John.
John Haidt
Here's who made the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. Now these are not the nominees. These are the inductees.
Joe Sucere
These people are going to get a plaque.
John Haidt
Yeah. We voted. And here we go.
Joe Sucere
Yep.
John Haidt
Making it in the performer categories this year. Phil Collins.
Joe Sucere
Yeah. Okay.
John Haidt
Billy Idol.
Joe Sucere
Nope.
John Haidt
Iron Maiden.
Joe Sucere
Yep.
John Haidt
Joy Division. New Order.
Joe Sucere
Nope.
E (female commentator)
What is that?
John Haidt
Oh, boy.
Joe Sucere
Oh.
John Haidt
Oasis.
Joe Sucere
Nope.
Chris Reivers
Yes. They're massive.
Joe Sucere
They know four chords.
E (female commentator)
Yeah. Shade is. Yes. For sure.
John Haidt
Luther Vandross.
Joe Sucere
Nah.
F (male commentator)
This is the performers Division.
John Haidt
Performer division. Yes.
F (male commentator)
What are the. What are the. What do you need to be a performer? You need to do like the splits in midair like David Lee Roth or you just gross.
E (female commentator)
I Don't want to see that.
Joe Sucere
Record sale, I suppose. Popularity concert draw.
F (male commentator)
Why is shot day spelled with no H or no C?
E (female commentator)
She's Nigerian.
F (male commentator)
It's sad.
Joe Sucere
Yep.
E (female commentator)
Sadie, she's got great music, but she's not really rock and roll though.
Joe Sucere
Matt, Matt.
F (male commentator)
She can take any piece of crap song and turn it into an absolute gem. I have never heard anybody.
Joe Sucere
I would bossa nova thing going, you know.
F (male commentator)
No version of anybody else's song is better than that original artist.
Joe Sucere
It's so easy, John.
John Haidt
I know. I am this whole conversation. You have no idea how this shot a fan.
E (female commentator)
Huge right here.
Joe Sucere
Yep, we know. We got the idea.
E (female commentator)
You used to play your.
Joe Sucere
You were told that you like Shade.
E (female commentator)
Smooth Operator.
John Haidt
I am a large Sade fan. My favorite though was Sweetest Taboo.
Joe Sucere
Sure, I would like to hear. Let's just be factual here. That hall of fame will let in anybody. It's not very strange.
E (female commentator)
Serious question. Phil Collins. Why did it take him so long when he's been around forever?
John Haidt
Well, he's in once.
Chris Reivers
Genesis is already in.
John Haidt
He's in once with Genesis and now he's in as a solo performer. We have one more that made it. Wu Tang Clan. Made it.
F (male commentator)
Yeah, they deserve it.
John Haidt
There we go. Early influence.
Joe Sucere
One album.
E (female commentator)
Kenny saw him at the caboose with the six people one day.
F (male commentator)
I don't think you should even comment on anything hip related, Joe. Just stay in your lane there. The old grandpa, you know, hippie rock.
John Haidt
Early influence. Early influence category. These people are going in. Queen Latifah.
Joe Sucere
Yeah, I like the Queen Fela Kute. No, never heard of it.
John Haidt
Oh, Fela's great.
Joe Sucere
I'm sure she is.
John Haidt
It's a he. Jesus God, this is just pathetic. This whole conversation is just proving
Unknown Guest (possibly a political commentator)
the
Chris Reivers
operation later in life.
John Haidt
You know what? I'm never doing this bit again.
Joe Sucere
No, we have to again. It's our favorite bet.
John Haidt
Who else in your contract also in the early influence category? Celia Cruz.
Joe Sucere
No, hell I don't.
John Haidt
I'm not sure I know who that is.
Joe Sucere
Well then if you don't know who she is, then she ain't going in.
Chris Reivers
Johnny, I got you with that last coming by the mayor.
Ad Voice (commercial announcer)
She sounds hideous.
F (male commentator)
Well, she's a guy, so yeah.
John Haidt
Hello, MC Light. And a person I can't believe isn't in already in some way. Early influence fluids category. Graham Parsons. Yeah.
F (male commentator)
You know who I would put in Gangstar? Do you guys know that hip hop act?
G (male commentator)
Oh my God.
Joe Sucere
Is Snoop in the hall of fame? Probably.
F (male commentator)
He wouldn't be an early influence though.
John Haidt
No, he'd be in as a performer, I would think.
Joe Sucere
Yeah, he'd be in as a felon.
E (female commentator)
Was Grant Parsons. Don't answer me.
Joe Sucere
What we don't know.
John Haidt
Graham Parsons was a leader of the Flying Burrito Brothers and also recorded.
F (male commentator)
John, you've been on that hook. He wrote.
John Haidt
Alan Parsons wrote Wild Horses with the Stones.
E (female commentator)
Alan Parsons.
Joe Sucere
John, don't. Thank you.
John Haidt
I'm not done. Story's not over, Joe.
Joe Sucere
Okay.
John Haidt
Plus the musical excellent awards inductees.
Joe Sucere
Oh, yeah.
John Haidt
Distant cousin Arif Martin, who is a famous producer. You're not familiar with him. Jim Miller, also a producer, produced the Stones. Rick Rubin. Everybody probably knows Rick. And Linda Creed.
Joe Sucere
I'm glad they're all going in.
John Haidt
That's. I'm not done yet, Joe. Ed Sullivan going. He is. Famed TV host gets the Ahmed Erdogan Award. If you haven't seen it, there's a killer Ed Sullivan documentary on Netflix you should watch.
Joe Sucere
Just tell me who doesn't get in. That might be faster this year.
John Haidt
Who didn't make it? Mariah Carey.
Joe Sucere
I wouldn't put her in either.
John Haidt
The Black Crows. No, New Edition. No New Edition. Got. You know they now do a popular vote also where fans get to vote. They had the most votes in the popular vote, but didn't do them any good.
F (male commentator)
But they have boys boy band.
John Haidt
Yes. Shakira did not make it. In Excess did not make it.
Joe Sucere
That's fine with me.
John Haidt
Pink did not make it.
Joe Sucere
That shouldn't.
E (female commentator)
All right.
Joe Sucere
Gymnastics act Lauren Hill did not make it. I like her.
John Haidt
Melissa Etheridge did not make it.
Joe Sucere
I like her.
John Haidt
And Jeff Buckley did not make it.
Joe Sucere
I like him. He had one song. So what are you gonna do?
John Haidt
And he didn't even write it.
Joe Sucere
Yeah. Thank you, John. Yeah.
John Haidt
No, wait, I have more.
E (female commentator)
John, there's more.
John Haidt
Just kidding. Just kidding.
Joe Sucere
Hello.
Chris Reivers
Yeah, Matthew said there was more, so I didn't know.
E (female commentator)
I thought there was more.
Chris Reivers
Okay, let's talk about.
F (male commentator)
Are you waiting.
Joe Sucere
Oh, no.
Josh Arnold
Here.
Chris Reivers
North American banking company, banking done differently since 1998. That's right. Way back when, they decided they were going to invest into your success. That's right. You, Joe Sushri, you, Matthew Mikulski, all of you small businesses owners and you families out there, they want to invest into your success. They make that noted every single day. And you can see it for yourself. Walk into any one of their six Twin Cities locations, whether it's 50th in France, Woodbury, Hastings, Shoreview, Maple Grove, and also over there in Roseville, offering the same updated online and mobile banking tools as all of those other big gargantuan national banks. The key difference is, however, you're going to get the unparalleled and personalized service of a community bank. It doesn't matter what you're looking to do. By the way, whether you're looking to buy a home, finance a new home renovation project, get that new car that you've been thinking about, or updating your business, they're here for you. Because they're independently owned and operated. That means all loan decisions are made right here in the Twin Cities. They are not sent out of state. So you can solve problems quickly and also expand your business with confidence. But see it for yourself. Check them out online. Today it's nabankco.com to learn or more. Once again, it's banking done differently. North American Banking company member FDIC is an equal housing lender.
E (female commentator)
Don't answer me.
Joe Sucere
This guy wears many hats, just not indoors.
F (male commentator)
Joe Sucra there's actually a few steps you can take to make sure that your fossil fuel burning daily, drivers getting the best mileage possible. It's simple, easy maintenance stuff you should be doing anyway. Proper air pressure take care of that. Get that slow leak fixed. After slamming through all these potholes all winter long, you probably need an alignment too. I'd stop into schoonovers, get the tire fixed, get an alignment. You may as well get an oil change. That means you get a new air filter. All of these things will help your mileage. There's oil. Oh, oh, and for goodness sakes, you're in. Stop and go. Ease into the throttle, ease into the brakes. No sudden stopping on the throttle unless you're on an on ramp. Then let's go. Here, hammer that thing. You got to get up to speed. And then there's one more thing you can do. It's simple. It's Seafoam at your next fill up. If you add a heavy pour a month, keep doing that. If you've never done it before, next time you fill up, dump in the whole bottle. It really, really helps both carbureted and injected vehicles running. It keeps them running clean. And it doesn't matter if it's gas or diesel. It works just fine in both. A wonderful product in a world of overpriced bad gas. Our friend Seafoam.
Joe Sucere
Listen to this itinerary from the traveling Lymans. They boarded a cruise ship, a Trans Pacific for 25 days to go from Brisbane to sea. They will encounter eight time zone changes. Cross the international date line and cross the equator as this is written, they are cruising the Morton Bay between Gibullum Kunungai and North Stradbroke island in Queensland, Australia. What an adventure these people are.
E (female commentator)
You've seen just about everything worldwide.
Joe Sucere
Waftage.com and it's only because they come to us from a cruise ship. It was on this day, Joe.
Chris Reivers
Today is April 14th.
Joe Sucere
Well, put this one in your bonnet, all you global warming fruitcakes. Pine City recorded a high temperature of 108 degrees on this day in 1805. And the next week, they probably got a blizzard. So it's always been thus, right? On this day, April 14, 1861, Minnesota was the first state to offer troops at the outbreak of the Civil War. War Governor Alexander Ramsey was in Washington, D.C. when word of the attack on Fort Sumter arrived. He met with Simon Cameron, the Secretary of war, and offered 1,000 Minnesota soldiers for the country's defense. He then telegraphed Lieutenant Governor Ignatius Donnelly, who summoned volunteers from across the state. This group of men became the first Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Range Regiment. Congratulations to those fellows. On this day, April 14th in 1870, the St. Paul Academy of Natural Sciences was formed. The group suspended activities after the state capitol fire of 1881 destroyed its collection. Reorganized in 1890 and handed over its new collection to the St. Paul Institute of Science and Letters. In 1807, that institute evolved into the Science Museum of Minnesota. On this day, April 14, 1894, organizer Eugene Debs called a strike by the workers of the Great Northern Railway. The Railroad had imposed three wage cuts despite profits of over $5 million the previous year. As the strike progressed, other railroads, following the lead of the Great North Northern in other strike situations, refused to help company president James J. Hill move his stalled trains. On May 1, Charles A. Pillsbury negotiated an agreement between the strikers and Hill, who consented to restoring 75% of the wage cuts made earlier. On this day, April 14th in 1901, a poker game in Granite Falls ended in violation. After playing for several hours, local dentist S. Wintner noticed that his two kings had lost two aces held by St. Paul Card Sharp William Leonard, the Irish lord. Eight times in succession. Wintner produced a revolver and when Leonard proclaimed his innocence, fatally shot him. At the trial later that year, Frank Nye, for the defense, made the creative assertion that gambling, being a felony, Dr. Wintner had the right to stop such an act with violence if necessary.
John Haidt
Clever.
Joe Sucere
The jury, perhaps unsympathetic to a crooked gambler, found Witner not guilty. Holy mackerel. On this day, April 14th in 1977, the Minnesota Asian American Project, an organization that promoted civil rights, affirmative action, and legal services for the Asian community, was officially incorporated by Dennis Techica, Gloria Kumagai and Daniel Matsumoto. On this day in sports disappointment history.
Chris Reivers
Joe, who'd we lose to on April 14th?
Joe Sucere
Well, in 1968, the Muskies lost the ABA Eastern Division Finals to the Pittsburgh Pipers 4 to 1. It was also the Muskies last game before moving to Miami.
Chris Reivers
So Pittsburgh had the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Pittsburgh. What were they called?
John Haidt
Pipers.
Chris Reivers
Pipers. Thank you.
Joe Sucere
On this day, April 14th. Well, we had. The Metrodome roof went down on this day in 1983. Remember I told you earlier in the show that we had almost 14 inches of snow on this day in 1983. And that postponed a Twins Angels game,
Chris Reivers
second year of the Dome.
Joe Sucere
That's right.
Chris Reivers
Yep.
Joe Sucere
On this day, April 14th, the Twins started off.09. Worst start in franchise history. And finally, on this day, April 14th, in 2011, Joe Maurer was diagnosed with bilateral leg weakness.
Chris Reivers
That's right. The first ever malady that caused Royce to ban people on social media.
Joe Sucere
Thank you, Gl.
E (female commentator)
And then when he had twins, what did she have?
Chris Reivers
Bilateral egg weight.
E (female commentator)
Thank you.
Joe Sucere
You're welcome.
Chris Reivers
Do us a favor, if you haven't done so already, we'll. Shame on you. You. Chris Reivers

And now is the time for you to do the same. So you know what? Clear the air and do what I did and pick up that phone and dial 952-92-5-5608. That number once again is 952-925-5608. When you call that number you're going to get Josh. And he is there for that.
Joe Sucere
Free.
Chris Reivers
Yep, he used the word free. 48 minute financial consultation with absolutely zero obligation. And he will always give you the straight talk, he will never give you the sugar coated advice. And he is on the line with us once again right here in garagelogic. And boy Josh, two of your favorites are making news right now because it was a big day and big news for Amazon and also ebay today.
G (male commentator)
Now big news. Let's, let's just start with oh my goodness, let's just start with, with ebay because what both of those people are ill. Consumers are still sending now. They're, they're spending money on dippings. Of course they are looking for bargains but and I'll say but they're not necessarily going to Walmart or Target or Best Buy. They are going to Costco and TJ Maxx. They are going to ebay hotel goods to buy goods. They is very on a price to earnings basis, even a price sales basis. It's kind of a forgot because there's nothing really exciting about ebay. They're no, they're no longer affiliated with with PayPal. PayPal's got some issues of itself, but that's another story. Ebay doesn't have the cachet that other tech companies. And what are you going to get on ebay and what is eBay anyway? EBay is a, an auction market. Ebay sells more used cars than just about any other. Ebay is also big in collectibles and ebay is a place where people do trade trade good. So eBay could be a garage sale. EBay is another place that I have found running shoes can't get in my running running store. Typically these are, these shoes might be in the collectible category. These running shoes might be, I'm not going to say used. They could be a few generations old and that does make, you know, for running. Yes, they fit well, you've liked them. But the midsole after a few years just don't have the bounce that they did when they were prepped. Ebay stock is finally say or they have the potential to break out and go higher, particularly in this not only market environment, but this is the economic environment Amazon brought up before. Amazon was moving up very strongly. Last week, some say in Iran. The CEO Andy Jassy's annual letter talked about Amazon spending and the return they're already getting on that spending for AI as well as putting up more communication satellites as part of their project leo. Whereas when Amazon reports their earnings in a few weeks analysts will be all over the company as we've seen a huge move this month from works from $210 a share just about $250 a share in a very short period of time. Stocks that go parabolic typically see some profit take particularly around earnings earnings if if the earnings will say don't match future expectations going forward or in Amazon case let's say their retail business isn't as good as some people had expected. Even though AWS should be very strong, their chip business should be very strong, advertising should be very and they definitely be able to show a return on investment for the 200 billion that they've committed spending this year to improve their their business prospects. Today they spent a little bit of that eleven and a half billion dollars is their bid to buy Global Satellite network. Global Star is also 20% owned by Little company called Appurchase will help accelerate their satellite network to compete with SpaceX. ARC Starlink by the way has 10 million subscribers that get Internet Internet and cell phone coverage from space. Crispy good. Apple has used Global Star for their phone connection from space they can use your iPhone any plate because of the satellite capabilities and that's going to continue after Amazon acquires a Globalstar. Globalstar is currently at $80. Amazon's bid is at $90 a share. Probably takes several months to close to close the deal. This is definitely a positive for Amazon and it is shown in Amazon's stock price. I did yes the other day have a price Target on Amazon at 275. With this purchase and the potential for more we'll say prime subscribers I think we can move that up closer to $300 a share on Amazon. But do be prepared for some volatility after this huge run up.
Chris Reivers
Excellent advice as always Mr. MoneyTalk. You heard him. G. Ellers. Now is the time for you to pick up the phone and make the call for that free 48 minute financial consultation again with zero obligation. And you do that just like I did by dialing 95292, 556 where you always get straight talk and never ever sugarcoated advice. Josh, once again thank you so much for the time and the chat. Enjoy the rest of your day and we'll talk to you again tomorrow.

This episode of Garage Logic, hosted by Joe Soucheray (the "Mayor" of Garage Logic), is a lively, opinionated exploration of current Minnesota political scandals—especially regarding state and federal fraud involving Medicaid and nonprofits—before pivoting to a satirical examination of academic “solutions” to high gas prices (i.e., “Just drive less”). The crew keeps a distinctly Midwest, common-sense tone, blending serious criticisms with irreverent banter.

This Garage Logic episode underscores the mounting frustration with government oversight, perceived systemic fraud, and out-of-touch policy recommendations, all delivered in the show’s signature blend of wit, satire, and “common sense.” The hosts skewer both state and federal officials, question the efficacy of nonprofits, and ridicule academic solutions that seem disconnected from reality. It's a must-listen for fans of irreverent political and cultural commentary, especially Minnesotans tired of public sector scandals.
