The number one fiction and drama podcast in America. Listen wherever you get your favorite podcasts available now. Hey, Garage Logic fans. I do a podcast on the Garage Logic Network that comes out every Wednesday and Friday. Now twice a week. But here's an important caveat. There is zero logic available in my show. In the formal definition of logic, of course, life is a yin and yang kind of thing. There's the logic side, and then there's the what the hell? Side, which needs to get its exercise. So come for the what the hell? And stay for the. You've got to be kidding me. Mishke. Now, Wednesdays and Fridays, twice a week, garagelogic isn't just another podcast. It's a trusted voice with a loyal audience. Every day, listeners tune in and pay

Kenny Olson
We are rolling there, Wally.
Joe Sushir
We had your gold there for a while, didn't we?
Chris Reavers
Yesterday was 67. I guess tomorrow it's 69.
Joe Sushir
Hey, yesterday I had 66. And no one said anything.
Josh Arnold
Nope.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, okay.
Joe Sushir
No, I'm doing it Friday.
Kenny Olson
I'm doing it I am doing it. I'm doing it, I'm doing it.
Joe Sushir
So what number is this? 68.
Chris Reavers
I told you, it's 68. 65 was last Thursday.
Matthew
No,
Chris Reavers
no, wait. I was here on Friday.
Joe Sushir
Josh. No, you weren't. Josh Arnold, investment. I was going on Monday. Oh, that's right. I don't know when you were here. Josh Arnold.
Chris Reavers
What are you doing? I'm gonna be honest, I'm not sure.
Joe Sushir
Well, I had 66 yesterday.
Chris Reavers
Yeah.
Joe Sushir
Anyone? Anyone?
John Height
I don't. I don't know anything about that.
Chris Reavers
You might be right.
Matthew
Let's see.
Joe Sushir
What are you looking at? Yesterday's Josh for 1766. That was yesterday. That was yesterday. Yeah, I'm going with seven today.
Kenny Olson
67.
Chris Reavers
I was wrong, Mayor. I apologize.
Joe Sushir
Now, Gabe C. 67. Yesterday. Well, you just heard me say 66. Yeah, but I mean, is the YouTube feed different? Oh, God,
Chris Reavers
now I'm back. If Gabe's on my side, I'm gonna fight.
Matthew
I'm just.
Joe Sushir
I'm just reading what's on the YouTube. Josh Arnold, investment consultant, brings you some damn number of this show.
Josh Arnold
Number X.
Joe Sushir
It's April 29th. Happy anniversary. 33rd anniversary of garage Logic. Today, Minnesota was introduced. People became gl ers on this day in 1993. That's how. That's.
Matthew
Are we going out for lunch after this?
Joe Sushir
That's 26 and 76. No, 33 years.
Matthew
33. You got that? Yeah, I'm surprised that you got that.
Joe Sushir
It was 92 degrees on this day in 1952. 22 degrees in 1958. Almost 7 inches of snow on this day in 1984. And no ice out on this day. To report for either Minnetonka or White Bear Lake, call Josh Arnold at 952-925-5608 for a free 48 minute consultation.
Kenny Olson
Hail the Flashlight King.
Joe Sushir
Hail you. And now from the mayor's office above the boathouse on the east shore of Spoon Lake, it's Garage Logic with Chris Reivers manning Tech technology corner, Kenny Olson from the crabby coffee shop, John Height in the newsroom, and of course the rookie here is your Flashlight King, fireworks commissioner and the keeper of common sense, your mayor, Joe Sushir. Get Monday show. How did I start?
Chris Reavers
No, Joe, I was completely wrong. I think you're right on track now. 1767.
Joe Sushir
Yeah, but you. Why? Why?
Chris Reavers
Because I didn't realize.
Joe Sushir
But who in the YouTube world would take a different number than I offer at the beginning of the podcast?
Chris Reavers
Well, that's Reavers.
Joe Sushir
You need to talk with rooms Maybe
Chris Reavers
I would make that a private conversation. Maybe after the show. Down in the parking lot.
Joe Sushir
Your favorite shows available now. Josh Arnold, investment consultant, brings you Garage Logic podcast number 1766. 4-27-20. I did six twice. So today is 1768. I apologize. My fault.
Chris Reavers
I apologize for apologizing. You, your girl and your johnson never apologize.
Joe Sushir
The. Wait, wait, wait.
John Height
No, you're not.
Kenny Olson
You're not just going to wait.
Joe Sushir
We got to do this.
Chris Reavers
What about Friday?
Joe Sushir
All right, rookie, would you stand, please? Yes, sir. We are proud to announce and we love official. And Gabe, you got an official confirmation. The city of Janesville, Minnesota is now flying the true flag over here. Oh, showing the camera.
Matthew
I'm sorry.
Joe Sushir
Janesville's going up. It'll be. Go. Right.
Kenny Olson
Here's the 10 million dollar. No, wait.
Joe Sushir
Right between.
Chris Reavers
I was just gonna ask.
Kenny Olson
Make him put it in alphabetical order.
Joe Sushir
Right between. Right between Hill City. Oh, H, I, J. Right after. Right after Ember Grove Heights. Right after Emory Grove Heights. Now I don't want to hear anything right now. The laughter has to stop now. You have to stop.
Matthew
We're going into the.
John Height
When the laughter ends.
Chris Reavers
Joe, you as a TV host never look at the correct camera. I could see it years and years and years. You're a TV host. Never. Always looking over here. And then the camera goes there. And then you look over here.
Joe Sushir
All right, there you go. This state flag situation can be very important for restoring some responsibility and sanity to this state. But I think we have to go about it a different way. I've been thinking about it for a long time, and the conclusion I've drawn is that I don't like the new flag because it was brought to us by failures. It represents the failed state. At the height of the trifecta, the legislative body and the governor were so full of themselves that they even changed the flag. And we're not going to get anywhere if this flag debate devolves into tribal warfare, because we know how that goes. It'll just be, if you like the old flag, you must be Trump. If you like the new flag, you must be. All right.
Matthew
I hate that.
Joe Sushir
That's not what this is about. That flag was brought to the people of Minnesota, who had absolutely no say in it. And it was brought to us by a completely failed administration. They have failed in every single aspect of state government. And to have them flaunting this massive, meaningless flag is what's irritating. That's where we have to focus here. And we could call it the true flag, the historical flag. The people's flag. But it was a flag that was functioning and designed during a period when, during decade after decade after decade, until walls came along, that this state functioned, worked competently, worked efficiently. And then these, these inexperienced activists who've never really worked hard in their lives got ahold of this state and they've managed to do an extraordinary job of upending it beginning in 2019. By 2023, they were on such a roll, such a, such a feeling of power, that they even changed the state flag and they change it to something meaningless, very vanilla. And that's where this debate has to be focused. If you're choosing to fly the historical state flag, you're choosing it to fly because it meant something. It flew during a period when this state worked. A long period when this state worked. Time magazine, 1973. Minnesota, the state that works. Wendy Anderson, on the COVID This state worked a long time. When walls arrived, we began not working. And this is their flag. This is the flag of failures who have ruined the state. That's why I don't like it. Now. If you have trouble philosophically or ideologically with the historical flag or the true flag, let's change it someday when the state's working, let's continue to fly the real state flag, the old one. And if you want to pursue this at some point, I would do a couple of things. One, it should not be pursued until the state's back on track financially. That's going to be quite an errand to perform. The state has to get back on track. And two, the next time this is done, the public should have the vote. The public gets to vote on it, not Walz's self appointed committee of obsequious factotums. So that's the take I want us to have. I mean, if you disagree with me, fine. But the take I want us to have is that I'm opposed to the flag that the Walz administration came up with. Because it's the Walz administration. They represent an era of Minnesota government that we have watched fail miserably in every single corner of government. And that's why I don't like their flag. If you want to change it someday, let's change it. When the state is working, let's do this again. You can have redesigns all you want. Let the public vote on it. This was a hurried up process. The taxpayers paid for it, the taxpayers didn't have a say on it. And this is the flag brought to you by the failures who are running this state. That's why I'm opposed to it. And thanks to Jesse Walbrecht, who used AI to help, we have the pledge to the true Minnesota flag. True flag. I pledge allegiance to the true flag of the state of Minnesota and to the values for which it stands, one state under clear blue skies with common sense and real un foghornable community for all, where neighbors lend a hand without being asked, where hard work speaks louder than politics and where lakes, seasons and small towns shape a way of life grounded in ingenuity, resilience and a quiet pride that does not need to be announced. Now. AI helped him create a pledge to the failed flag, the flag flown by the failures who run this state. I pledge allegiance to the flag that pretends to be for the state of Minnesot and to the system for which it stands, one state under fraud, with audits delayed and accountability pending for all. Where billions are spent with limited oversight investigations follow headlines instead of prevention and trust is promised, reviewed and repeatedly reassured in a government of programs by committees for appearances of control. Thank you.
Kenny Olson
Got it.
Matthew
I don't think you're gonna get anybody to recite that second one.
Joe Sushir
Now. I'm going to go through today's flag emails and remember, it helps us the best, if official confirmation can be supplied, that your town, your village, your community, your city is choosing to fly the historical, the real, the true Minnesota flag that flew when the state worked. The reason to reject the current flag has nothing to do with race. It has nothing to do with gender. It has nothing to do with anything except this is a flag brought to you by the people who have ruined the state. That's why I will not fly it. We get news from Camille that the real state flag is hanging at City hall in Lonsdale. Do we have Lonsdale on the board?
Kenny Olson
We do not.
Joe Sushir
Okay, Camille, do what you can. Wait a minute. Funny enough that the real flag is hanging at Post. Oh. Funny enough, the real flag is hanging at Post, formerly Malt O Meal, in Northfield, Minnesota, the most liberal town around. Okay, she's noting two things. The real flag is flying at City hall in Lonsdale. And she also noted that Malt O' Meal, which is a big job provider in Northfield, Minnesota, home to Carlton and St Olaf, Malt o Meal is flying the real flag. Congratulations to Malt O Meal.
Kenny Olson
Just because we're gonna get emails. It's owned by Post. Malt O Meal is.
Joe Sushir
Okay. I don't know why we would have gotten any emails, but that's fine because
Kenny Olson
it employs a ton of people in the.
Joe Sushir
It smells like cereal in that. I love. I love that I used to smells like cereal. Camille, get me official confirmation. Downing, great point. You were talking about the new state flag in terms of it being sort of a self serving tribute to the trifecta. And it occurred to me this is the DFL version of Trump's ballroom or his giant arch. And that someone would be disappointed that would be this Freeberg character who tried to offer up Bill. And that someone would be disappointed that some cities don't want to fly the new flag and would think that there ought to be a law forcing them to is ridiculous. Considering how many cities in this state openly and flagrantly refuse to comply with federal law or cooperation with law enforcement calling themselves sanctuary cities, do you think that disappointed DFLER is disappointed in Minneapolis and St. Paul? Well, off site correspondent Downing strikes again. That's a great point. We flaunt the fact that we ignore federal law. And this fruitcake Freeberg, he wants to say it's against the law for you to go bleep yourself. Freeberg. This is from Brian. We now await each day to hear the ever growing list of Minnesota towns fighting back and flying the true flag, which has been truly inspirational. The ongoing sidebar as to what to call true flag made me think the answer is simple. Shouldn't the true flag simply be known as the people's flag and the nondescript, undeniably Somali centric flag be the government flag? That's a good term. The new flag they're flying is the government flag. It's not the people's flag at all. It doesn't represent the state. It represents this failed government. That's why we're rejecting it. And he goes on to say, whatever. Thank you, Brian. And now we have Chris, who writes, I am proud to announce there is another city you can add to the list. Driving by city hall yesterday in the city of Crosby. Do we have Crosby? No, we do not have Crosby. The city of Crosby. On the flagpole directly under Old Glory was the real flag of Minnesota. It was waving gloriously under a gentle breeze, almost as if it were waiting for me to arrive just to show off its beauty. Please add Crosby to the list of true Minnesota cities. Could I have confirmation from Crosby, Minnesota, please? Up on the range there. We've got a lot of listeners there. Someone provide confirmation. Home of scorpion, Lori writes Brewster, Minnesota is flying the true state flag at the city hall and fire hall. Brewster is located in the southwest corner of the state, not even close to St. Cloud. We need official confirmation from Brewster, I'm not doubting any emailer. Just give us something that would help us add these towns to the ever growing hall of fame. Maybe. Let's see. I live in Cloquet and mourn our loss when you departed the AM radio scene. Unfortunately, many geezers are not podcast savvy. What the hell is this? If you or any of your crew are traveling through, I would love to buy you a burger at Gordy's High Hat. Alan Finfrock. Alan, podcast requires no savviness. It's easier than a radio and you get to listen to it whenever you want. Just go to garagelogic.com and you're on your way to Bing bang boom. True flag is flying in Hancock, Minnesota. This is from Jeff. Picture was. Do we have Hancock on the board?
Chris Reavers
East, west of Kensington.
Joe Sushir
Joshua, I can confirm the town of Stewartville and Racine, Minnesota. Fly the real flag. That's. I'll take his confirmation.
Chris Reavers
Just south.
Joe Sushir
I'll give you all these and you determine which ones you'll print new names for.
Chris Reavers
Let me fix that, Joe.
Joe Sushir
Oh, you're doing all right.
Chris Reavers
Hoffman, west of Kensington. Hancock, south of Kensington.
Joe Sushir
Thank you.
Josh Arnold
Huh.
Chris Reavers
Gotta get that right.
Josh Arnold
Right.
Chris Reavers
Nowhere close.
Joe Sushir
Phil writes our company well. It's a company that's fine. Our company proudly flies the true flag. The chairman of the board stopped by my office the other day and asked if anyone had called inquiring us about about flying the true flag. I told him that I have received only two calls. My prompt response to the callers is to inform the caller that our company has many of the true flags left to fly before we make the switch. The statement is entirely true. Due to the fact that our closet contains five true flags, we have also purchased an additional eight flags which should arrive soon. Our routine is to fly these flags for a period of five to six months before retiring them. Thirteen flags should give us at least five to six years, at which time I fully hope that this matter has been resolved.
Josh Arnold
Hear, hear.
Joe Sushir
I love your attitude. Hear, hear. This is Dave. The city of Chatfield, Minnesota has adopted not to fly the new flag, meaning they're going with the true one.
Matthew
Chatfield not flying the government flag.
Kenny Olson
The barbershop in Chatfield also flying a GL flag.
Joe Sushir
Wonderful. Is Chatfield down your way?
Kenny Olson
Harmony, Minnesota, on the way to Harmony, south of I90.
Joe Sushir
And you recall yesterday I read the note from Angie up in Anoka who had the couple stop by, and the man told her, you're flying the wrong flag, and she said, no, I'm not. She writes back. Thanks for reading my Anoka update. Just to clear the air, I don't have a wife nor do I want one.
Chris Reavers
Smart man.
Joe Sushir
I'm a single hard working gal who takes a great pride in her house and yard and works her butt off. Because Mr. Wright hasn't come around yet. He, of course, would have to agree with the true flag as well. Angie. Thank you, Angie. Thank you. You want this pile?
Chris Reavers
Well, who is she addressing then? Joe? Wasn't she?
Joe Sushir
I probably read it wrong. I probably read it.
John Height
Probably the husband of the woman right was walking by.
Joe Sushir
I probably read it wrong. So let me just hand this pile to our man here.
Matthew
Thanks, John.
Joe Sushir
All right.
Chris Reavers
Now, there's a town in Minnesota called Cummingsville.
Joe Sushir
Okay, they're flying.
Matthew
I refuse to ask my question.
Joe Sushir
I. I just again, to win this fight, let's not even call it a fight, to gain traction on this, really the only reason that I'm opposed. Well, no, I'm opposed to it for a variety of reasons, but the principal reason is this is a flag brought to us by a state that has failed us in every possible way. That's why I'm opposed to this flag. They don't deserve to have their own flag. They have nothing to celebrate. And I want to fly the real flag. If, as I said, someday this state gets back on track and people want to take up the flag issue again, that's fine with me. But that time, on that occasion, the people will get to vote. Not Walz and his team. They will not get to vote. Say, I hope your garage door is serving you well. It's an important function, important part of the house. What do you got?
Chris Reavers
Chainsaws, weed whippers, lawnmowers, motorhomes, tractors, cars, truck, trucks. Seafoam is going to keep all of those cylinders, carbs, ports, passageways, injectors. Keep them all clean and happy when you add it to the gas tank. When you add Seafoam motor treatment to the crankcase. Now this is where the magic kicks in. It's going to shake loose those crusty deposits that build up over time and they're going to be flushed away when you do your next oil change. So maybe add some to the crankcase about 100 miles before your oil change and it doesn't matter. Gas or diesel makes no difference. Reference to Seafoam. It's been working its magic for, well, since the late 30s. I'm not doing that math. I'm too lazy. I call it magic or voodoo. Some of you cynical know it all mansplainers call it snake oil. Well, let me Tell you something, pal, it's snake oil that works. It really does. There's a proven history of helping cylinders stay happy for nigh on 90 years. Truly a wonderful product. Product in a world of bad gas. Sea foam.
Joe Sushir
Happy anniversary, baby. Got you on my mind. I gotta remind myself, based on Kenny's ad there, I gotta put my snowblower away. Oh, I haven't treated it.
Kenny Olson
You know why? I know why you didn't do it.
Joe Sushir
Why?
Kenny Olson
You weren't tempting the snow gods.
Joe Sushir
Yeah, but I think we're okay now.
Chris Reavers
Joe, One of the funnest tools I have is this 20 plastic piece of crap battery operated siphoning tool.
Joe Sushir
Oh, I want one.
Chris Reavers
Take the wand in the tank. It's got a hose that comes out and you're gonna end up walking around the estate looking for gas tanks to drain.
Joe Sushir
Oh, so where can I get one?
Chris Reavers
Well, you know where I got mine. I'm thinking any auto parts store should have one.
Joe Sushir
Oh, yeah, that beats the hell out of what the guy across the street used to do. He let it run for about six hours.
Chris Reavers
My old way was a mouthful of gas.
Joe Sushir
I don't do that.
Kenny Olson
Who was the guy that let. Was it a gl er? The pilot. The truck was running at the airport.
Chris Reavers
Oh, it's.
Joe Sushir
The pilot left it running for two
Matthew
days outside of building C or whatever it was.
Joe Sushir
That was a testament to Chevrolet because the truck was fine.
Kenny Olson
He flew all the way to what, Kansas City?
Joe Sushir
He went to Washington D.C. no, he went to Seattle and came back. Truck is overnight in Seattle. Came back, the truck's just sitting there purring.
Chris Reavers
My worst was 5:30 in the morning until 2 o'. Clock.
Joe Sushir
I came to work.
Chris Reavers
I left the truck running because I was going to run to town. I'm just going to go in, get things started. I didn't come out of the house.
Matthew
Shiny object.
Joe Sushir
I don't want to talk about fraud, but I feel I owe it to you. But astounding development. Yesterday a former state fraud investigator told lawmakers a child care fraud unit was undermined before it was shut down. And he has no doubt that oversight could have been prevented. Could have prevented some of today's fraud concerns now tied to the state administered child care assistance program. Remember, these are the people who've brought you their own flag. Jay Swanson, a former criminal investigator for the child care Assistance program under the Department of Human Services, testified Tuesday that the unit began with strong agency support in 2014, but began losing it in 2017 before the unit ended in 2019. Who was governor in 2019, that'd be Tim Walls, Joe Support from upper management dropped off a cliff and it seemed at that point their only goal was to destroy the unit and drive our people out of there, swanson said. This is truly amazing. Representative Pam Altendorf, a Republican from Red Wing, asked Swanson during the House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Policy Committee hearing. This was yesterday whether some of the current issues could have been prevented if officials had taken the unit seriously, swanson said. Without a doubt. Swanson said the unit was harassed and bullied starting in 2017 and lost authority over which cases to prioritize. He also said that in 2018 he was advised to delete paragraphs from a memo in response to the Minnesota Legislative Auditor's Office. He believed that would be illegal and he refused to do so. This irritates me and I don't know why. I mean, as long as he went this far, Swanson did not identify who was involved. I find that terrib disappointing.
Chris Reavers
He told the right people behind closed doors.
Joe Sushir
Are there right people behind closed doors?
Chris Reavers
You know what? That's a great question, he said.
Joe Sushir
The shift in support followed the departure of the previous DHS inspector general and deputy inspector general and he resigned in 2019, the year the unit was abandoned. I can't tell you how shocked we were to come to the Department of Human Services and learn after a few years that not only was the not only was the untold theft of millions of dollars tolerated, but those who tried to stop it would be subjected to the wrath of high ranking department officials, swanson said. Swanson, I love you. I'm glad you're talking, but come on man, go all the way. Committee Chair Kristen Robbins, Republican Maple Grove, said DHS declined an invitation to the hearing yesterday. DHS has testified to the committee several times. Department of Children, Youth and Families we have too many departments in this state. I'm going to get to a woman in a moment who might want to undo that. Department of Children, Youth and Families Commissioner Tiki Brown and DCYF Inspector General heads Department of Children, Youth and Families Randy Keyes attended the hearing. They DCYF this new kids and happy thoughts thing was created in the last couple of years and took over oversight of ccap. Let's see Cap. Oh God, this government is just so amazingly big. Commissioner Brown took questions from 5 eyewitness dues following the committee hearing and said neither she nor Keys worked for the department when former fraud unit was in place. They always have an answer at CCAP
Chris Reavers
is child care assistance program.
Joe Sushir
Oh we were Here then. We're here now. When DCYF began and the inspector general unit came over, we've had regular conversations with them to ensure that they feel supported, that they have every tool at their disposal. So that's part of the culture that we have built within the agency to make sure that we don't have that suppression. Man, is she schooled in the b.
Chris Reavers
You talking tiki?
Joe Sushir
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
Yeah.
Joe Sushir
What a bunch of bs.
Chris Reavers
She said some things years ago, defending the programs that have proven to be false, especially with yesterday morning's busts and searches that they did.
Joe Sushir
Well, this presentation apparently was part of a request for additional state dollars to expand state and local investigation capacity. You'll note that this failed government, which flies their own flag. Their response to fro has been to demand more and more tax money. Their response has been to bolster more and more investigative units, create more and more government to determine what they apparently cannot. They've lost complete sight of what is right and what is wrong. And they need multiple, many layered agencies so they can continue to hide their culpability. And if I could only beg this fellow to. Jay Swanson. Are you having him on?
Chris Reavers
He will not speak publicly. He will not. Come on. This is the. Yesterday was the only venue that he would attend.
Joe Sushir
Jay, you're doing the large work. You went pretty far here. Name names. Why?
Chris Reavers
Is it because they're still in there, in the office, working.
Joe Sushir
All the more reason to name them. Get them out of there. This is ridiculous. Did you see where Walls has gotten into a little kerfuffle?
Chris Reavers
Don't start with me with that word.
Joe Sushir
With Cash Patel of all people.
Chris Reavers
Yeah.
Joe Sushir
Yeah. Walls faced immediate backlash yesterday after claiming credit for federal fraud raids in Minnesota, prompting a rebuke from Cash Patel. The clash underscores growing political tensions over a sweeping probe into fraud that critics say unfolded under walls. Watch as federal authorities now take the lead. Come again? Cash Patel posted on X in response to Walz, who claimed that Tuesday's raids happened because Minnesota state agencies caught irregular behavior and reported it. Walls is lying. I ask for you tonight as simple. If you're taking fraud serious, your responsibility seriously and pass legislation to stop it. If you talk about oversight, stop. Vote for that pass. Legislate. You need. You need legislation to say, don't steal that money. Yeah, that's what we've come to. And they're flying. That's the flag they're flying. That's the reason you oppose it.
Chris Reavers
And that's the problem with all lawmakers regarding everything. They think that passing a Law is going to stop it. It's not going to stop it. You have to stop it yourself.
Joe Sushir
Don't these people have any moral or ethical code? I know that's in short supply everywhere we look in the country, but I'm worried right now about Minnesota. That's where we live and we're getting robbed. We're having our money stolen from us by these morons. I'm uninterested in the fight between Cash Patel and Tim Walls, only. Only so far as Walls is just another opportunity for Walls to be lying.
Chris Reavers
That little spat reminds me of something we'll eventually see on South Park. I mean, it's so comical. Both of those two characters are comical. That's going to be a South park skit.
Joe Sushir
There's a woman running for governor, a legislator named Peggy Bennett. She represents the District 23A down around Faribault, right, Albert Lee, parts of Faribault, Freeborn Steel and Waseca counties. She's a Republican. She grew up in White Bear Lake. She graduated from Mound Westonka High School. She's got a Bachelor of Arts in Education from St. Cloud State. She has a Master of Arts and Special Education. She was a first grade public school teacher in Albert Lee for 33 years. And apparently that did not destroy her thinking. Unlike Walls, who was also a grade school teacher, whatever the hell he was. I read today that was a piece I asked to print. I think you did, and I think I have it right here. I read today. Thank God for Alpha News. Thank God for the Minneapolis Times. Thank God for the American experiment. There are news sources in Minnesota that can help us get to the bottom of things. This Peggy Bennett who has agreed to come on with us next Tuesday. So I won't take a long time on this, but the reason I wanted to have her in is she has said what we've been saying. She said this state is completely broke, essentially has to start over. That really intrigued me. Really intrigued me. She has come away with a grim assessment of Minnesota's political system. She told Alpha news, I'm a six term legislator and I have spent 12 years inside this system. Do you know how much we've accomplished? Almost nothing. The system is broken. And she's right. What? That's another great question to ask your euphorian friends.
Matthew
What?
Joe Sushir
How is this state better than it was 10 years ago, 20 years ago?
Kenny Olson
Because people making decisions are getting rich.
Matthew
Okay, play devil's advocate. What are they going to come up with?
Joe Sushir
They can't.
Matthew
There isn't anything up though.
Joe Sushir
But there isn't anything that's better.
Kenny Olson
They're fighting for us.
Matthew
No.
Chris Reavers
They have a lot of things that they think are better.
Joe Sushir
Yeah. She supports term limits. Bennett has decided not to seek reelection this year. She is taking on a far greater challenge. She wants to run for governor and we're gonna have her on the air. She's running for governor. She told Alpha News to fix fraud, education and crime. But just as importantly, I'm here to be a system fixer first. Atop her proposals to fix the state's political system is reforming the Minnesota legisl use of omnibus bills. Routinely, lawmakers in the legislature churn out massive bills filled with hundreds of different policy provisions. Generally, these omnibus bills are sorted by subject areas such as public safety or agriculture. Omnibus bills, however, these omnimous bills force lawmakers to take a single up or down vote on legislation that will change state law in hundreds of ways. Bennett said these mammoth bills are a major reason our state is in such a mess with all the bad laws. This woman's joining us Tuesday. I'm going to set this aside. We'll learn more about her. She's speaking the truth. They've accomplished nothing and this system is broken.
Chris Reavers
Joe, the conversation surrounding starting over, how it does. Does that sound. How does that look like? What, what steps do you take to start over?
Joe Sushir
I can bounce.
Chris Reavers
That's hyperbole, Joe.
Joe Sushir
Well, I can bounce it off her and she'll be able to tell me why I'm being naive. I realize that we're not going to start over.
Chris Reavers
No, she was saying. I thought you said. She said it.
Joe Sushir
No, no, she, she wants to address the fact that they're not accomplishing anything.
Chris Reavers
All right.
Joe Sushir
I want to address the fact that. Well, I'll address it with her. How do we thoroughly clean house?
Chris Reavers
Okay, let's. Let's do some show prep for that show right now. In my mind, the only way to do that. Would you. Everybody in office right now, both parties, House and Senate in Minnesota, this is their final term. No matter what. This is your final term. Next elections, all new people go in. That will never work for the same reason that we never get term limits. The people that are going to vote on that are current lawmakers and they're not going to vote to usher themselves out of office.
Joe Sushir
I understand. I understand. Will be. It'll be interesting. Well, it'll be interesting talking to this woman. I'm, I'm anxious. She's either going to come in in person or what? Be on zoom or in person.
Chris Reavers
No, we got to get her in
Joe Sushir
coming in in person.
Matthew
She is.
Kenny Olson
Did you.
Matthew
You.
Chris Reavers
Did you pay attention to Tim who was talking to us while the Wild were playing last night?
Joe Sushir
Not a bit. Yeah, not a bit. I don't want to. I don't believe anything he says, and I'm not going to waste my time.
Matthew
We don't have to sit through one more state of the state with no he's done.
Joe Sushir
It's worth working their way through the chamber.
Matthew
You got to want to stop it,
Joe Sushir
not just talk about it. That's all you've ever done. You.
Chris Reavers
If you don't like hockey, you watched the the governor's attorney say, I hope
Joe Sushir
you're never in an accident. And I hope to God nobody ever gets hurt.
Kenny Olson
Is the state of Minnesota in an accident?
Joe Sushir
A terrible accident, but I'm not sure Bradshaw and Bryant can take them on. It would be fun to have a civil lawsuit against the state, wouldn't it? Get back some of the money stolen from us. If you're ever in an accident, get a hold of Bradshaw and Bryant. Personal injury attorneys, insurance companies and adjusters can be tough to deal with, so having someone on your side is important. Mike Bryant from Bradshaw and Bryant is the best. He puts a team together. They explain your rights, represent you, help you through a tough time. Mike has been recognized as a super lawyer by Minnesota law and politics. That's the bible. I hope you're never in an accident, but if you are, call Bradshaw and Bryant at 800-770-7008 or go to MinnesotaPersonal Injury.com. your case evaluation is free. And don't be part of the problem. Don't text and Dr. Drive distracted. That's just common sense from Bradshaw and Bryant. Fraud in Minnesota. It's costing us all. And that's why 5 Eyewitness News is shining a light on fraud. I'm Lindsey Brown and at 5 Eyewitness News, we're digging through records, following the money and exposing who is taking advantage of taxpayers. We don't take easy answers and.
Chris Reavers
And we won't let fraud go unchecked
Joe Sushir
when tax dollars are misused.
Chris Reavers
You deserve to know because this is
Joe Sushir
your money and we're working hard to protect it. Watch and see the difference. Only on 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS. Play the damn song. The earth is not your mother. The Joe Sugir show. Happy anniversary, baby.
Matthew
Yeah.
John Height
Why do we get to play that? I don't understand.
Joe Sushir
We don't. Yes.
Chris Reavers
I have a question for you guys. It's more of a feeling that you have. Do you guys right now Feel like winter is over and it's passed and there's no chance of you being dragged back into the depths of winter.
Joe Sushir
Yes.
Matthew
Until Joe puts his snowblower away.
Joe Sushir
That'll be done before the week is over.
Chris Reavers
I have a theory on that. My theory is it's not when the grass is green, it's when the trees are budding that you finally feel budding.
Joe Sushir
They're. Yeah.
Chris Reavers
And I was there on Monday and it feels like summer in the Twin Cities. So that means. What are you waiting for? Get on the horn or get on the computer. Go to professional turf.com and get that best lawn on the block. They can do it for you. Don't let the weeds win again this year. Get them handled by the best company you can possibly choose. The best company in the state. Talking about pro turf. They've been reinvigorating lawn since 1982. The company that has the best long term lawn care techs in the business. They've been doing it for over 20 years or more. These people and their years of experience means you are going to have the best track on the block. ProfessionalTurf.com is the website that's where you schedule that free in person lawn care estimate. And before you know it, you know, with their custom so release fertilizer and weed killer program programs, it's going to be amazing. It's going to be thick, it's going to be luscious. You're going to want to walk around your yard in your bare feet. The neighbors are going to be jealous. The kids are going to be angry at their parents that they have such an embarrassment. Go with the pros. I mean, even tourists will show up and take pictures. All you have to do is click on professionalturf.com May I ask a question?
Joe Sushir
You may.
Kenny Olson
I know I'm the newest member here in garagelogic. Well, aside from my counterpart here on my left. I know I'm the newest member of the Garagelogic podcast slash show in the 33 year run. But I have to ask a question because I know habits never change.
Joe Sushir
Are you gonna ever ask the question?
Kenny Olson
Where is the post it note with snowblower underlined?
Joe Sushir
In my car.
Matthew
I'll tell you exactly where it is in the dashboard. It's on the right side of the dashboard.
Joe Sushir
Above the glove box.
Matthew
Just above the glove box. And it's.
Chris Reavers
It's snowblower, Chris.
Matthew
And you're right, it is underline, underline.
Kenny Olson
Impossible.
Chris Reavers
None of that is funny. That's just a fact of life.
Matthew
You mean it's Sad.
Chris Reavers
Can you stand on one leg? It's sad more than can you get up out of a chair? I know why he's offended yourself.
Kenny Olson
No, here's why Captain Jughead's offended because he has about four post it notes on his truck dashboard right now with as he's got to get done.
Chris Reavers
Hi Joe. How you doing baby?
Matthew
Garage Logic Senior division. Right over here, these two guys.
Joe Sushir
Here's John Height in his newsroom.
John Height
Well, I'm going to ask add to that story, Joe. I'm sorry. I recall we had an appearance about 20 years ago and we all got there early and you said hey, let's go over to Wendy's or whatever and have a burger. I drove over with you in your car and I thought it was just a story they made up that you had post it notes all over. But you had post its note. Post it notes.
Joe Sushir
I do. All over the dash.
Chris Reavers
Nothing wrong with that.
Joe Sushir
Drive home.
Chris Reavers
Nothing wrong with that.
Matthew
One, two, three. Main Street
John Height
News now. And news is brought to you by the fine folks at North American Banking Company. A Ridgefield police officer is recovering at the hospital after he was shot by a suspected car prowler this morning. And according to officials, the suspect was shot and killed in the incident. Officers arrived at the scene near Morgan Avenue about 3:24 this morning after a neighbor called to report someone was targeting cars in the area. When police located the suspect, the person ran away. Officers gave chase. During the pursuit, the suspect showed a gun and shots were fired. According to investigators, the suspect died at the scene and the injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital after being shot in the hand. The area near Morgan Avenue was blocked off as the investigation continued. The BCA leading the investigation, Governor Walz, as we've heard, bits of already entered the chambers last night to loud applause from Democrats and polite applause from Republicans. The governor didn't bring up the fraud issue until he was about 2/3 of the way through his spring speech. Even then he didn't talk about how it was allowed to happen, just what he's trying to do about it now. He said, quote, we've created additional checks and balances. We've brought on more investigators, more auditors, more law enforcement agencies as well as an outside firm to look at high risk programs.
Joe Sushir
There's that. None of that was needed.
John Height
People who have ripped us off are getting caught and they are going to jail. I've said the buck stops with me.
Kenny Olson
Can I play a piece of audio that I was hoping to get to at some point today? This is one minute of Tim Walls boasting about this very topic. And I'm thinking, why is this a good thing? Talking about voting?
Joe Sushir
We will not deny our citizens right to vote based on race, color or language. And meanwhile, we protected everyone's right to participate in our democracy by making your own right to vote easier. We've established automatic voter registration. Voting is good.
Chris Reavers
Voting is good.
Joe Sushir
It's kind of the hallmark of democracy. We've created permanent absentee voter status. We Pre registered our 16 and 17. 17 year olds to vote. And we restored the franchise to 55,000 previously incarcerated Minnesotans who have already paid their debt. You're a damn toot.
Kenny Olson
So is that an acknowledgment of
Joe Sushir
I don't know what. You're driving it?
John Height
Okay, thank you. That's for.
Kenny Olson
Oh, yeah. Because I'm sure voter voter integrity is all on the up and up in this fraud riddled state.
Joe Sushir
I don't think voting should be made easier. I think it should be made harder.
Matthew
I couldn't agree with you more. 17 year olds were grooming.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, because John. No, no fraud has taken place in the state at all.
John Height
You think so?
Chris Reavers
Chris, before we fight about that, we
Joe Sushir
do the next story.
Chris Reavers
Was that what he brought up even worthy of bringing up, or was that just filler material?
John Height
Material that's probably filler.
Joe Sushir
Reavers.
Chris Reavers
No, for Walt. No, no, I think Reavers. I like the fact that he brought it up because it brought up this question. Why bring it up?
Joe Sushir
What else does he have to talk about?
Chris Reavers
Yeah, that's exactly. It's filler material. He's trying to avoid the obvious.
Joe Sushir
So he brings up that.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, he brings that nonsense.
John Height
He did. Speaking of that Candy, he had other accomplishments. Accomplishments that he brought up, including the state's AAA bond rating and free school lunches for all students. He says as a former teacher, he's clearly most proud of what he's done for education.
Joe Sushir
What? These kids can't spell cat.
John Height
The one thing that did bring Republicans and Democrats together was a moment of silence for the late speaker emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. Other than that, Democrats and Republicans responded afterward as if they had watched two different speeches. Republican House Speaker Lisa Davis saying it's important for to know that, yes, your property taxes are incredibly high right now. Prices at every business in Minnesota right now because of mandates that have been put on specifically during the years 2023 and 2024, full Democrat control in the state of Minnesota.
Joe Sushir
I think Melissa Hortman would have been useful in reaffirming the traditional dfl. I think she would have come down on the side of yeah, she pushed back the real DFL as opposed to these Marxist socialists flag.
Kenny Olson
I agree.
Chris Reavers
How many of those lawmakers had the wild game on their phone last night and they were secretly watching that in their lap?
Joe Sushir
None of the Democrats because they wouldn't have known how.
Kenny Olson
I'm just glad though that that that Walls did cite the fact that it doesn't matter your status which I think is important in establishing voter registration.
Joe Sushir
He's an inclusive fellow because it doesn't
Kenny Olson
matter if you're here legally.
Joe Sushir
Voting is good.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, I know John. It's probably everything's on the can we
Joe Sushir
just have John Height do Federal government
John Height
is asking a judge to sanction Amy Bach for allegedly leaking protected documents ahead of sentencing and defeating our future case. Prosecutors say Bach violated a court protective order by directing her sons to send sensitive materials to reporters and elected officials, many of which she thought demonstrated her efforts to combat fraud. Court records alleged Bach instructed her college aged son to send a number of documents from her Dropbox asking him to remove all trial exhibit stickers and markings indicating the documents were from her case. The government wants Bach barred from accessing the documents outside her lawyer's presence and prohibited from contacting her sons. Bach due back in court tomorrow one o' clock for a motion, a motion hearing. The man who was convicted of murdering his ex girlfriend Madeline Kingsbury, will not get a new trial after the Minnesota Supreme Court denied the request. Adam Fravel was convicted of first degree murder in 2024 after the jury deliberated for two days. Frable was ultimately sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The southern Minnesota mother's disappearance, you'll remember, set off a massive search. In 2023, Kingsbury had last been seen alive dropping her kids off at daycare with Frabel in March of 2023. Her body wasn't found until June and it was wrapped in a bed sheet on a property near Frable's parents home in rural Fillmore County. He filed the challenge for a new trial, claiming there were issues and misleading information. During his trial, his attorneys pointed to hearsay statements about the Gabby P. Petito murder case is one reason for a new trial. The request also claims the state's domestic violence expert was unreliable, questions the medical examiner who examined Kingsbury's body and took issue with the prosecutor's closing statements to jurors also arguing that there wasn't undeniable proof that Fravel had intentionally killed Kingsbury. Why don't we take a quick break here. National and international stuff right after we hear from Chris.
Kenny Olson

National and International Stuff Efforts to end the Iran conflict were at an impasse, with US President Trump unhappy with the latest proposal from Tehran, he claimed informed the US it was in a state of collapse and figuring out its leadership situation. The most recent offer from Iran offers to resolve the two month war would set aside discussion of any of its nuclear program until the conflict was concluded and shipping disputes resolved. The President said he wants nuclear issues dealt with from the outset. According to U.S. officials, the president issued a new threat to Iran early this morning, posting an AI generated image of himself holding an assault rifle alongside the blunt message no more Mr. Nice Guy on his Truth Social account. While all of this was going on, US Gas prices have hit a fresh record since the start of the war, with Iran rising to an average nationwide of 423per gallon on Wednesday, according to AAA, the Supreme Court this morning struck down Louisiana's second majority black congressional district in a decision that could open the door for Republican led states to eliminate black and Latino electoral districts that tend to favor Democrats and affect the balance of power in Congress. In effect, this makes much of the 1965 Voting Rights Law moot. The court's conservative majority found that the district represented by Democrat Cleo Fields relied too heavily on on race. That decision weakens a landmark voting rights laws protections against discrimination in redistricting. It's unclear how much is left of the provision known as Section 2 from 1965, the main way to challenge racially discriminatory election practices, according to Justice Elena Kagan. She wrote in a dissent that the for the three liberal justices, the consequences are likely to be far reaching and grave. Today's decision renders Section two all but a dead. Letter Britain's King Charles told the US Congress yesterday that despite an age of uncertainty and conflict in Europe and the Middle east, the UK and the US Will always be staunch allies united in defending democracy at a time of deep divisions between the two longtime allies over the war with Iran. Charles address came on the second day of a four day state visit to the US During a tense time in relations between the two countries. President Trump repeatedly has criticized UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for what Trump says is his lack of help in prosecuting the war. One perceived shot at President Trump King Charles receiving raucous applause as he highlighted the importance of checks and balances in his address before Congress. Update to a story that broke yesterday while we were doing the podcast. The Department of Justice has brought new criminal cases, we told you, against former FBI Director James Comey and now we know why. Apparently involved. You'll remember the story of the image of seashells that come he posted last year that said 8647 well, according to the charges, they're taking that as a threat against the President. It was quickly pointed out online that a number of conservative influencers had used 8646 in reference to President Biden. Biden and that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had used the same reference in talking about left wing politicians. The term 86 generally means to get rid of something. The earliest written evidence shows 86 part of a slang code used by restaurant staff to indicate they were out of an item, as documented in 1933 by newspaper and radio's Walter Winchell. And some folks may know this one. It became code for bars cutting off customers, throwing people out if they had
Kenny Olson
too much to 86 this bleep hole.
John Height
That's right, they were at that point 86 out of the establishment. Most lawyers looking at this case, the legal experts say probably doesn't have much of a leg to stand on.
Kenny Olson
And when you're a male bartender, don't you ever 86 a good looking gal.
Joe Sushir
I won't.
Kenny Olson
Okay, that gets you into trouble.
Matthew
You won't do that or you won't be a bartender?
Joe Sushir
Both. Okay.
Kenny Olson
Could you imagine him, oh, slinging drinks
Matthew
behind the bar counter. Give me a nice.
Joe Sushir
You'll get what I give you and you'll like it. Exactly. Shut up and drink this.
John Height
And sometimes as well as he listens to us on the show, imagine if you're telling him a story.
Chris Reavers
Can you hear Joe coming up to
Joe Sushir
a stranger and say, why suddenly am I being attacked as a false bartender?
Chris Reavers
What's troubling you, my friend?
Joe Sushir
Before the guy's a little hanged up up there, pal. What can I do for you?
Chris Reavers
What can I get you?
Matthew
Before the guy comes up, though, what are you doing behind the bar?
Joe Sushir
Got the wet rag?
Kenny Olson
Yep.
John Height
He tosses her over the shoulder.
Joe Sushir
I'm polishing the bar and you're wearing the. I have a vest.
Kenny Olson
God.
Matthew
Talking. What can I get you, pal? Buddy, buddy. What can I get you, tiger? Yeah, what can I get you, tiger?
Joe Sushir
I'd be looking at a glass in the light.
Matthew
My wife left me. Yeah. Well, I'm here until seven and then I gotta run to the.
John Height
Gotta play golf home.
Matthew
Yeah, get some golf.
Joe Sushir
Every.
Chris Reavers
Every time he says, is this gonna be a long.
Kenny Olson
It's all what's coming up on the ride mentality behind the bar for sushi boy.
Joe Sushir
Let's move it along. Oh my God.
Matthew
You want to buy some pull tabs?
Joe Sushir
No, I don't. I would not work in a bar this sort of pull tabs.
Chris Reavers
Well, then you wouldn't have a job.
Kenny Olson
Be a short run for full circle.
Matthew
He's never going to be a bartender.
Chris Reavers
There you go.
Joe Sushir
And I wouldn't serve anybody wearing a hat. Well, I say, hey, hey, hey. You take the hat off, we'll talk.
Matthew
Kenny, describe the tip jar. How full is the tip jar? He's got coins.
Josh Arnold
Coins.
Chris Reavers
One wheat penny in it.
Matthew
He's got one seed dollar in there. That's about it.
Joe Sushir
That's funny. You guys are really funny.
John Height
In media news, things not going well right now for CBS Evening News. The new anchor, Tony decouple is recording dire ratings in the new Nielsen's Nielsen rating show. The week beginning April 20th was the lowest rated stretch of viewership since Decouple was promoted to the evening news slot by CBS News Editor in Chief Barry Weiss in January. CBS Evening News now averaging just 3.7 million viewers. The 4 million mark previously was considered a low enough level to set off alarm bells for the network in the all important 25 to 54 demo prized by advertisers. The show averaging just 467,000 viewers. ABC and NBC doing much better. ABC has 8.5 million viewers. NBC six and a half million for the nightly news broadcast. Both of those networks have more than 200,000 more viewers than CBS in the 25 to 54 demo. A six figure income used to be shorthand for being well to do, shall we say? Now, apparently it's barely enough to keep up in a lot of parts of the US that according to a analysis by Money Lion.
Joe Sushir
What's six figures?
John Height
100,000.
Joe Sushir
Okay.
Matthew
Yeah.
John Height
In a dozen states, a household income topping 100,000 is not considered particularly high compared to other earners. It's actually considered lower middle class, according to the analysis. The financial site used the Pew Research Center's definition of the middle class to set its parameters. Someone is middle class if they earn 2/3 to double the median income in a state. Someone is lower middle class if they find themselves in the bottom third of earners in that middle class range. The analysis found households in 12 states earning 100 grand or more are still considered lower middle class or in the bottom third of middle class households that include states Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Hawaii, California, New Hampshire, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Connecticut, Alaska and Virginia.
Joe Sushir
Thanks, John. Yeah, that was fantastic. Why don't you take a break?
John Height
Still thinking about bartending, aren't you?
Joe Sushir
No, you're thinking about. You're thinking about those pictures you're looking at.
Kenny Olson
Or a frame.
Joe Sushir
Oh, hi, how are you? If he didn't remind him, he wouldn't remember.
Matthew
For the trees.
John Height
Joe gave me the hint there.
Joe Sushir
I did realize it. I did.
John Height
Or frames. It's a good thing. You should never forget about. It's a perfect Mother's Day gift. Mother's Day's what, two. Two weeks or so?
Joe Sushir
Is that a week from Sunday?
John Height
Yeah, two weeks, I think, from this.
Joe Sushir
She ain't my mother.
John Height
Or it's the perfect Mother's Day gift.
Joe Sushir
The frame ain't got no mother around now.
John Height
Helps remember. You know what, though, Joe? Here's what I did on my aura frame. My mom's not around anymore either.
Kenny Olson
Yeah.
John Height
But I had some old pictures of her a long time ago that I made prints of, including. And I think she wouldn't mind me telling this at this point. What does she care, you know?
Joe Sushir
Yeah.
John Height
I did one where she's sitting in her pajamas smoking a heater.
Joe Sushir
I can do the same thing, John. I'll do that. Yeah.
John Height
And I. I have that on My aura frame.
Matthew
She's giving the camera carpet in the background. And the bad drape, the thick drape.
John Height
Actually there's some bad, bad wooden siding on the, like the wood panels. I mean, fake, fake wood. Like plastic. Plastic wood.
Joe Sushir
I'll never get, I'll never get over the sequined couch. The couch, it had little shiny things.
Matthew
Comfortable.
Joe Sushir
It was, you know, you sit in there with shorts on, you hurt your legs.
John Height
Yikes.
Matthew
Anyway, your frame underneath your thumb, your

Joe Sushir
Today, a guy in Rochester, Minnesota told Alpha News about what he had done. He. He paid closer attention to some of the buildings in town and he came across a place called the 1500 building.
Matthew
Okay.
Joe Sushir
And this fellow thought it was suspicious inside Rochester year's 1500 building. And he offered photographic evidence of all this is a dense cluster of tenants operating under one roof, including the Olmsted County Democratic Party, a Somali community center, an Islamic mosque and a half dozen transportation companies operating out of separate suites. Among them, state business records show at least six transportation companies companies at 1500 First Avenue, Northeast Star Special Transportation. The listed agent is Al Hamza, Daya Al Juburi. The Swift Ride Transportation. That's Hassan Chalet. The Sunflower Transport listed agent is Nasser Hassan. Helpful Transportation, Abdoulaye Hassan, Hannibal Transportation, Maridi Sharif Maulana and Qadar Transport. Hawa Mohammed Abduli. The building also houses the Rochester Somali Community center and Islamic mosque Masid Salama and the Olmsted county office of the dfl. And he's just wondering what's up there. He said he was inspired by this Nick Shirley character who went around and told took took videos. So he decided to do his own exploring. And he said there were all kinds of minivans parked in the lot. Some had a flat tire, others had inches of snow on them and looked like they hadn't been used in quite some time, he said. What else did he say? One of the transportation companies operating out of the 1500 building, Qadar Transport, was operated by Hawa Abduli, who appears to be the same individual who held a now revoked adult foster care license and home and community based service license.
Matthew
Whoops.
Joe Sushir
Government records connect hawa Abduli to two homes in northwest Rochester roughly 1/10 of a mile apart and valued each at 4 to $500,000. The adult foster care and home and community based services listed were both revoked by the Department of Human Services and that revocation was upheld by the Court of Appeals in December of last. Just this past December, state investigators Found that the foster care home was not the license holder's primary residence. That's a legal requirement for an adult foster care license. And that the operation had accumulated a lengthy list of violence violations involving resident rights. Okay, and then. I don't know where to take this, except I was intrigued by it. More of us should do this. If you're passing a building where you see 15 names of the same offering the same service Might be worth poking around.
Matthew
For example, be polite and do it with the decorum.
Joe Sushir
Well, for example, in Rochester, which, you know, it's one of Minnesota's larger cities, but it's not the. That big. You got six transportation outfits in one
Chris Reavers
building, all fighting for the same dollar. Kind of like the food court in a mall, only its transportation.
Joe Sushir
Right. I think I have time to tell you this quick story. I know a friend of mine was out walking, and it's a she. And she came. She was in a neighborhood in St. Paul, and she saw a little boy on railroad tracks. And she assumed she would see parents. She did not. She looked all around, and she went over to the kid and said, honey, where's mom? Where's dad? I only know Tony's house. He could barely speak. Tony. We got to go to Tony's house. And she looked around again, and there was nobody there. So she took him by the hand and. And said, can you show me Tony's house? The kid was on the railroad tracks. It's an unused spur now, but that's not the point.
Matthew
I know what you're talking about.
Joe Sushir
And it's in Highland. There. It would have been the old spur that went into the Ford plant. But the kid's alone. She's looking all around. She sees no neighbors out anywhere. She looks up and down the tracks. There isn't anybody. And so she's keen to the idea that this is an unattended track child, obviously. So she takes a little guy by the hand, and she said, can you show me Tony's house? And they started walking, and he. And he said, tony, Tony. And he points to a house, and they went there. And in the backyard were a number of children playing. And she deduced that he had wandered away. And there was a woman there whose name was Tony.
Matthew
Imagine that.
Joe Sushir
And this friend of mine, who by this time did not have any particular interest in being polite. Well, she wasn't rude, but she said, are you missing a child here? Oh, that's where he went, huh? Hey, no. What do you mean that's where he went? He was two blocks from here. On the railroad tracks. Are you supposed to be watching these? Well, I have aides, they help me. Well, obviously this is a foster mother who's got all these kids. She's 70 years old. So my friend said where are the aids? They're sleeping.
Matthew
Looks like you need them sleeping it off.
Joe Sushir
Well, holy bucket, it got me. And she said the kid was smelled fine. He had been bathed, he had a diaper on and he had nice clothes on, but he clearly had wandered away.
Matthew
Right.
Joe Sushir
And was it A and this woman? Apparently A, did not notice than he did. And B, might it have been too late when she did notice what might have happened to this child?
Matthew
How lucky was that foster mom that you're good soul said I got to get this kid back to home base.
Joe Sushir
So the friend is not going to let this go. She leaves the child there, but she gets a block away and she calls the police.
Chris Reavers
Good, thank you.
Joe Sushir
And she said told him the story. I just found this child and I've returned him to this particular place. And they knew the address. They said we got a red flag on that place. And she said what is it that mean? They said we've been called there before. Well, to make a long story short, what more can my friend do when she walks in that area? She'll have a sharp eye. But I guess the lesson I took from it is how many of these situations are there? A lot of things. How many of these situations are there where this old windbag is getting money from the city stage and.
Matthew
And she's overwhelmed not being able to.
Joe Sushir
I don't even know it doesn't she just sitting there. According to my friend, just sitting there.
Matthew
If you got seven kids there and
Joe Sushir
no aids, they're sleeping, they're here at night. Why? Come on, people.
Matthew
Yeah,
Joe Sushir
not G elers. G elers wouldn't behave that way. Well then.
Matthew
Then what happened?
Joe Sushir
I don't have any more to the story except she turned it over to the police.
Matthew
Okay, that's good. Then at least. Least they know.
Chris Reavers
They shudder to think what could have happened.
Joe Sushir
Well, that's my point. My God.
Chris Reavers
Awful.
Matthew
I can't segue into that.
Chris Reavers
And then how are the kids? How are their lives? All of those kids that are there, how are they going to turn out? Is, are they going to go from a foster home to county lockup to juvie and then to county?
Joe Sushir
I just hope my friend doesn't try to adopt a kid.
Matthew
Well, it's the first thing I thought is the poor soul, we want to get that child a home.
Joe Sushir
We had Enough, right?
John Height
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
You're.
Matthew
You're running one. You're running your own foster without help from the state.
Chris Reavers
I wonder if that. Has your house been red flagged?
Joe Sushir
Nope.
Matthew
Many times. For different reasons.
Joe Sushir
Not for that reason. I'm not doing it now.
Matthew
I'll do it after.
Joe Sushir
We have a new port of call for the traveling linemen to edge closer and closer. Closer to home. They just.
Chris Reavers
Are we in Hawaii yet?
Joe Sushir
Yes, they're in Oahu. Really? Nice. Yes, they're getting closer to their home. Isn't that nice?
Matthew
They're getting closer to their home.
Chris Reavers
That's a. That's an amazing radio bit.
Joe Sushir
You just.
Matthew
I mean, you think that would have been hours of production
Joe Sushir
under this?
Kenny Olson
No, no, no, we cannot.
Matthew
Oh, hang on, hang on.
Joe Sushir
John knows how to play it on the guitar.
Chris Reavers
I just like the fact real hard. I mean, you've been doing this show for, well, 80 years now, and that's the best you can do for production right there.
Joe Sushir
Different rules for podcast. I would like.
Matthew
I would like to explain Wash at Brown Institute.
Joe Sushir
I would like to explain myself. I'd like to explain myself.
Chris Reavers
Okay, chief, go ahead.
Joe Sushir
I have people for production. Yeah, I've written a newspaper column for 50 years and I can't. Couldn't lay out a page to save my life. I don't know anything about it. Do you have material, Joe?
Chris Reavers
Do you in fact have people for production?
Joe Sushir
Kenny is. I really don't.
Matthew
He's an ideas man.
Kenny Olson
Along those same lines, I hear that there might be a. An update. What up with that layout for the column?
Joe Sushir
Yeah, we might be going up. Up north France.
Chris Reavers
Has your contract been sold?
Joe Sushir
No, building. We have a new location.
Matthew
What do we got, Joe?
Joe Sushir
The traveling linemans are in Oahu. Honolulu, Hawaii. And you can follow their travels home.
Matthew
You know what it sounds like? It sounds like they're getting closer to their home.
Joe Sushir
That's right. WorldWideWattage.com it was on this.
Kenny Olson
On this day, Happy anniversary to you and Matthew. It's April 29th.
Joe Sushir
Well, on this day in 1816, garage logic was invented. No, no, that was too early. On this day in 1816, Congress passed a law that extended fur trading licenses to U.S. citizens only. Soon after, John J. Astor's American Fur Company pushed out its British rock rivals, the Hudson's Bay and Northwest companies. On this day, April 29, in 1858, entertainer Daniel D. Emmett obtained a business license for his Ethiopian Minstrels, a blackface minstrelsy group. Emmett visited the state often in the 1850s while his brother Lafayette served as chief church justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. And it was believed that while here, he wrote an early version of Dixie, which was performed at Russell C. Munger's music store in St. Paul. So we got all kinds of racism in just that one item there. You got your black face, white group, you got a Supreme Court judge whose brother is writing the racist song Dixie. It was just a hell of a mess back then. We straighten that out.
Matthew
Yeah, we straighten her out.
Joe Sushir
On this day in sports, disappointment history.
Kenny Olson
Joe, who'd we lose to on April 29th?
Joe Sushir
Well, you can always rely for the North Stars to show up in this. On this day in 1971, the North Stars lost to the Canadiens in the semifinals of the playoffs, four games to two. On this day, April 29th in 1974, Goldie Goldthorpe and Glenn Sonmore fought Houston fans on their way back into the locker room.
Matthew
Nice. Way to go, Glenn.
Kenny Olson
Is that when he lost the eye?
Joe Sushir
Now, he lost that in his younger days in Hamilton.
Kenny Olson
Oh, gotcha.
John Height
Okay.
Joe Sushir
He took a puck to the eye.
Kenny Olson
That's what it was. You're right.
Joe Sushir
I'm sorry. On this day, April 29, in 1960. 77. Boy, we just don't have much good to report about our clubs, do we? Until Thursday night, the Wolves lost to the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs, three games to nothing.
Matthew
Smoked.
Joe Sushir
And now the Wolves come home tomorrow, leading, what, three games to two?
Kenny Olson
Yes, sir.
Joe Sushir
They lost Monday night in Denver. Denver.
Kenny Olson
Yes, sir.
Matthew
You know, I also.
Joe Sushir
The Wild won Latin night in Dallas.
Matthew
I also know that, again, we don't do birthdays. But I will say this. On April 29, 1941, Judith was born. She's 85 today. I'm not going to wish her.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, we don't do birthdays. Even though it's.
Matthew
Last night, when she was 84, she called me and asked me, who is Tony Lee? And I said, Tony Lee is a great producer. He's a young Jewish boy from Highland park that went to school with your nephew Chris. And tonight I'll be maybe taking her out to dinner tonight, and I'll answer any other Garage Logic questions that she has, like, is Kenny really mean to you in real life? She's come a long way with you, Kenny. She likes to.
Chris Reavers
Why did she bring up Tony, Matthew?
Matthew
I don't know. She randomly will listen to the podcast. She's a daily listener and will ask me random questions about things.
Chris Reavers
I break GL rules every single day. I'm gonna do it again right now. Happy birthday, Judith.
Joe Sushir
85. Okay, I heard a Great story. You think somebody's sweet?
Matthew
Yeah. My mom's not that sweet.
Joe Sushir
I heard a great Don Rickles, Bob Newhart story.
Matthew
Oh, good.
Joe Sushir
Bob Newhart telling about the first time he met Rickles. Okay. Newhart and his. Newhart's wife and Rickles wife were friends, but Newhart had yet to meet Rickles. And they had different acts in Vegas, but they got together for coffee, and when they left, they vowed to go to Don's show that night and miss whatever Mrs. Newhart's name is said to Bob. God, he's the sweetest guy. I had no idea. He is just the sweetest man. He's lovely. And Bob said, yeah, he seems all right, right? And they. They go and they. And Rickles arranges for them to have front seats.
Matthew
Nice.
Joe Sushir
For his show. And Nichols looks down and says, hey, I see we got that stuttering idiot from Chicago here. And that hooker wife he's got. Wow. Newhart's wife looked at him and said, what, you didn't warn me? I said, I didn't know he would do that.
Matthew
Virginia Quinn. Must be Ginny.
Joe Sushir
Ginny.
Matthew
Mary in 63. She died in 2023. That was his only spouse.
Joe Sushir
When did Bob die?
Matthew
Bob died in 2024 at 94 years.
Joe Sushir
Rickles is dead.
Matthew
Rickles is dead?
Chris Reavers
Yes.
Kenny Olson
I don't see him.
Joe Sushir
We're best bosom buddies.
Chris Reavers
They vacation together all the time.
Kenny Olson
I have a question.
Matthew
2017. We lost.
Kenny Olson
Before Matthew does American boarding. I do have a GL question, Matthew.
Joe Sushir
What.
Kenny Olson
What time was GL on back on Thursday? Thursday, April 29th of 1993 was the time.
Joe Sushir
I remember Thursday.
Matthew
The schedule. No schedule was two to four. It was supposed to be two to four.
Kenny Olson
Two to four.
Matthew
It only went two to three and. And Vogel, I believe, filled in from three to six. Because he would have been.
Kenny Olson
Because Joe had a baptism on a Thursday afternoon.
Matthew
Okay. Father Handicap. No, Father Handicap did call me and say it was a.
Joe Sushir
It was a baptism.
Kenny Olson
It was on a Thursday.
Chris Reavers
When did you.
Matthew
Right.
Chris Reavers
When did you become the great dictator of Garage Logic? Was that right off?
Kenny Olson
Right away?
Joe Sushir
That wasn't right. You weren't there.
Matthew
I remember.
Joe Sushir
You weren't there.
Matthew
I remember when you sat down and said, I've. It was. It was the Joe Sushir show. But I remember when you came up with the concept of Garage Logic and
Joe Sushir
said, I got it the fall of 1993.
Matthew
Is that when it was?
Joe Sushir
I don't know. You didn't.
Matthew
You wasn't there yet.
Joe Sushir
You didn't even come on board till 96 95. 95, yeah.
Chris Reavers
Do you remember when you came up
Joe Sushir
with you for Sushiree?
Matthew
They're grooming you. That's what I was told. They're grooming you. I'm like, there's no grooming process.
Chris Reavers
You remember when you came up with the concept of Krabby Coffee Shop?
Joe Sushir
Yes. That was only about three years ago actually.
Chris Reavers
You never did come.
Joe Sushir
I did, I did. I wrote a column about it.
Chris Reavers
And then I'm trying to urge you to get out early because we have to tape another episode of the Krabby College.
Joe Sushir
I'm glad you've taken my idea and run with it.
Chris Reavers
25 minutes. Not only did we take your idea, we're going to take your. Your material too. We're going to be talking about fraud today. The busts are, excuse me. The search warrants being executed yesterday morning and the testimony of Jay, what was it? Swanson. Swanson, yeah. At yesterday's.
Matthew

Let it ride.

It is time once again that we check in with our guy, Mr. Money Talk. Josh Arnold is with us once again right here in Garage Live Logic. And now is the time for you to do the same. So do not delay, do exactly what I did and pick up that phone and dial 952-925-5608. That number once again is 952-925-5608. When you call that number you're going to get Josh and he is there for you for that. Free. Yep, I use the word free 48 minute financial consultation consultation with absolutely zero obligation. And he will always give you the straight talk. He will never give you the sugar coated advice. And he is on the line with us once again right here in garagelogic. And boy, Josh, a big day for earnings and also a big day for the Fed.
Josh Arnold
Chris. It is definitely a big, big day. We'll say a market moving day as and somebody said, well markets move every day. Yes they do. Yes they do. But typically the markets are going to react first to the, to the Fed when the announcement comes just after lunch and there'll be a lot more reaction during Fed Chair Jay Powell's comments conference, say conference call and this will be his last conference call as a Fed chairman. The belief is that interest rates are not going to be coming down and given the increase in the price of oil which we've discussed and especially today with oil closing in on $105 a barrel because of issues in the Strait of Hormuz, The Fed, I'll say the Fed chief could say that inflation remains a sticky issue and with the price of oil up, there is no way that the Fed will be able to cut interest rates soon without creating even more inflation. Yes, my estimation, not that the Fed should cut interest interest rates, but the Fed should be, we'll say cutting their quantitative tightening policy which have kept longer rates a little bit higher and that has made it a little bit more difficult for longer term interest rates to come down and thus mortgage rates also to come down and there is a significant need for to expand housing. House prices as we've discussed before have been one of the sticky impediments to inflation. Coming down to the Fed's 2% target rate add has the rise in insurance costs neither of which. Higher interest rates does impact the price of housing, making it a little bit more difficult to purchase for new purchasers. But higher interest rates are also in there included in the cost of mortgage adjusted rent. Mortgage equivalent rent and rents have not been coming down. So it's kind of a two sided coin where interest rates and houses housing but definitely higher interest rates have not brought down the cost or made it of insurance and that that is still a component of the inflation calculation. When the Fed makes their their decision that will be one market moving one more market moving event today. Tomorrow the markets could move on the backs of earnings coming after the close from Microsoft. Google, also known as Alphabet, Facebook, known as Meta and favorite Amazon Questions are going to come by analysts around the amount of capital expenditure to spending that these companies have been doing related to the build out of data centers and the spending they're doing on artificial intelligence. Questions around Microsoft are going to be are they having success and is their relationship with OpenAI in any type of peril or is Microsoft now just another software as service company and will it return to higher profitability given the amount of money that they're spending? Meta or Facebook is dependent on advertising and is the spending they're doing and the changes they're making around artificial intelligence also bringing a return on in return to them as well as increasing the number of users they have Google Now Google does look like a winner with their Gemini I'll say their Gemini model that's going to be used inside of Apple's Siri and Gemini has gotten a tremendous amount amount of traction that has also brought more users to Google and I do believe that their ad advertising has increased not only for Google's regular search business but also for their YouTube business and as well and their cloud business and Amazon. Amazon has had a number of wins recently with money invested in their Trinium chips and they have gotten plenty of wins from the likes of OpenAI and and also from their investment in Anthropic and their AWS business which analysts expect to be up at least 25%. Could be up a little higher than that. Amazon has been closing in on a new high recently so don't be surprised even if if Amazon beats I'll say beats the street or even beats some of the whisper numbers that their stock does pull back a little bit after the news. So these are hence the market moves on these stocks and you'll see them definitely in after hours trading today and that will bleed into tomorrow. It would be wise not to make moves just on the announcements, but to wait until you hear the results of their conference calls. And that would be true of any other company. Pay attention to their conference calls, not just the head.
Kenny Olson
Excellent advice as always, Mr. MoneyTalk. You heard him gl ers. Now is the time for you to pick up the phone and make the call for that free 48 minute financial consultation again with zero obligation. And you do that just like I did by dialing 952-925-5608 where you always get straight talk and never ever sugarcoated advice. Josh, once again, thank you so much for the time and the chat. Enjoy the rest of your day and we'll talk to you again tomorrow.

Garage Logic – April 29, 2026 Episode Summary: "We reject the current MN state flag because it represents the failure of this administration"
Overview On this 33rd anniversary episode, Joe Soucheray (“The Mayor”) and the Garage Logic crew focus intensely on the ongoing controversy over the new Minnesota state flag, arguing that it symbolizes the failures of the Walz administration and broader governmental dysfunction. The show rejects the new flag not for ideological or cultural reasons, but as a protest against the perceived incompetence and corruption of the current leadership, tying this debate to broader themes of government overreach, accountability, fraud, and Minnesotan identity.
Key Discussion Points & Insights
[07:21 - 13:40] Joe Soucheray lays out the core argument: opposition to the new flag is not about nostalgia or partisanship, but about rejecting something imposed by what he calls a “failed administration.”
“I don’t like the new flag because it was brought to us by failures. It represents the failed state… This is the flag of failures who have ruined the state. That’s why I don’t like it.”
— Joe Soucheray [08:09]
Soucheray insists that any future flag redesign should only happen when the state is functioning well and should be subject to a public vote, not pushed through by “Walz’s self-appointed committee.”
“If you’re choosing to fly the historical state flag, you’re choosing it because it meant something. It flew during a period when this state worked.” — Joe Soucheray [09:05]
[13:40 - 18:00] Listeners send in updates about towns, cities, and businesses flying the historical (“true”) flag instead of the new one.
Grassroots reporting of adoption, with calls for "official confirmation" from communities.
Listener email:
“Shouldn’t the true flag simply be known as the people’s flag and the nondescript, undeniably Somali-centric flag be the government flag?” — Email from Brian [15:30]
The segment highlights emailers’ pride in communities resisting the new flag and continuing to fly “the real flag.”
“I pledge allegiance to the flag that pretends to be for the state of Minnesota, and to the system for which it stands: one state under fraud, with audits delayed and accountability pending for all…”
— [12:51]
[28:40 - 36:18] Soucheray highlights testimony from a former fraud investigator (Jay Swanson) alleging that the child care fraud unit was deliberately undermined and shut down during the Walz administration.
Criticism of layering more agencies/investigators instead of fixing root problems:
“This failed government, which flies their own flag… their response to fraud has been to demand more and more tax money.” — Soucheray [33:45]
“I don’t think voting should be made easier. I think it should be made harder.” — Soucheray [51:14]
[37:17 - 42:25] Preview of upcoming guest Peggy Bennett (Republican, former teacher) who says the political system in Minnesota is “broken” and nothing gets accomplished.
“Do you know how much we’ve accomplished? Almost nothing. The system is broken.” — Peggy Bennett, quoted by Soucheray [39:09]
Discussion around “starting over,” term limits, and legislative reform, amplifying the thesis that Minnesota’s problems are systemic.
