Just a heads up to you folks sitting with a notebook and pen Mishke. The new podcast here in Garage Logic Land is now coming out twice a week, Wednesdays and Fridays. If you're in fact scribbling this down, Wednesday is kind of tough to spell. It's not like it sounds. You want to spell it W, E, N, Z, but that, of course would be a mistake. Friday is spelled just like it sounds. You're gonna be okay there, but Wednesday's a bugaboo. Let me tell you people. Just a pain in the patootie. Jeez, it's hard.

Josh Arnold, investment consultant, brings you Garagelogic podcast number 1769. I don't care what anybody says the number is. It's 1769. Okay. April 30, 2026, 91 degrees. The record high on this day on two occasions, 1934 and 1952. It was 24 degrees on this day in 1903. And no ice outs for Minnetonka. A White Bear Lake.
Chris Reivers
Are we done?
Joe Soucheray
No. Our last day will be next week. May 5th is the last ice out. Josh Arnold, investment consultant. No, I already did that, didn't I? I want to tell you to call Josh. Call Josh Arnold at 952-925-5608 for a free 48 minute consultation.
Chris Reivers
Hail the Flashlight King.
Joe Soucheray
And now from the mayor's office above the boathouse on the east shore of Spoon, it's Garage Logic, with Chris Reavers manning technology corner, Kenny Olson from the Crabby coffee shop, John Height in the newsroom, and of course the rookie here is your Flashlight King fireworks commissioner and the keeper of common sense, your mayor, Joe Sucier. Men of Garage Logic, it'll be up to us to continue the flying of the original state flag, the true flag. No other news agencies seem to be taking this on, except when they do, the principal ones have a bit of edge to them as they somewhat seem to be trying to defend the meaningless fraud flag. So, fraud flag, like. I think that's what it is.
Chris Reivers
I think you're right. I think you're spot on.
Joe Soucheray
By the way, just a random thought hopped into my brain. I've been checking the Sahan Journal, which has done some good work over the years, principally covering the Somali community. I think that would be an accurate statement. Once again, I checked today and their last mention of ilhan Omar was March 3rd. Third in relation to some bill she agreed on with Tina Smith and somebody else. There is yet to be no mention of Ilhan Omar's preposterous claim that an accounting error resulted in her going from a $30 million net worth to barely enough to buy cardboard to build a shack. So that gets no mention in the Sahan Journal. Back to the flag. I told you it was a random thought that just popped in there, but I wanted to get it on record. I keep checking. March 3rd was the last mention of Ilhan Omar in the sheets of the Sahan Journal. I got a great letter from the mayor of Bram, Minnesota, and nowhere in here does it say that I can't say his name. Why couldn't I? It's a public figure. And Bram, his name is William Sema, I believe. Well, I'm sorry. William Sema sent me this. The. The mayor's name is Nate George. You got that? So far, throughout my time as mayor, I've been a staunch defender of local government and taxpayers on issues ranging from fraud, corruption and unfunded state mandates and local control. I've been more than willing to stand up for the everyday taxpayers who are increasingly squeezed out of their homes and commercial properties due to ever rising property taxes and local government financial burdens. These burdens have been brought on by just plain bad policy making and downright overreach at the state level. Recently I've been asked about mine and the city's stance on the Minnesota state flag. We have not made any design switches to the recently redesigned flag and continue to display the historical state flag as allowed by law. No changes to the state seal have been made either as the cost is prohibitive and not funded by state funds. I fully support this rationale. This is the extent of the city's official position that I will share as the official spokesperson for of our city. Now I will share my personal position on the issue. I believe this is I'm reading from a letter he must have sent to his constituents. Now I will share my personal position on the issue. Personally, I believe that whether you like the new designs for the seal and the flag or not is irrelevant to the underlying issue. The process undertaken to implement enforce upon the citizens and local governments of our state was poorly conceived, ill advised and recklessly executed. The absence of proper due regard for thorough public input was a slap in the face to every citizen regardless of their approval of the designs. It was the way this was done the two most important symbols of the state that everyone should take issue with. If I were alive when the flag was last changed under a similar process, I would have spoken out against it then as well. It is simply a destruction to focus only on the design when it a distraction to focus only on the design when it is the absence of the people's voice to determine the symbols that represent them that should matter to everyone. Citizens of our state have sacrificed their lives under the state flag of historical designs. I myself have carried and protected our state flag in countless military ceremonies. It is an incredible disservice to the memories. To make such a significant change is something so many have fought and died for. It is these reasons, among many others, that I fully support local governments choosing to use their voices to object to poor state leadership and choose to fly the historical state flag. This is a call to correct a wrong and re implement a process that fully takes into account the voice of the people of our state to let us decide as a whole, not a select few aligned with a certain agenda, decide what symbols we want to represent us. I call on state leadership to act quickly and diligently on this and restore unity through a public and transparent process. I also fully support any member of our community or Member of the City Council who wishes to have a discussion on honoring and flying the historical state flag via council resolution. Community members can utilize the request form at City hall to request the topic be added to an upcoming City Council meeting agenda. Council members can reach out to me or one of the city administrators to have the topic added. Thank you for the honor and opportunity to have served you as mayor, Nate. George, isn't that fantastic?
Kenny Olson
Part of that email, brilliant, by the way, should be sent to the people in charge in St. Paul. Very well worded. And he brings up everything that's irritated me. And when you talk to these lefties about this flag issue, they treat us like children, like they're patting us on the head. Here's a cookie. Now go away. You were given a chance to submit your, you know, drawing for the stage.
Joe Soucheray
That isn't for the flag. Excuse me, that isn't the point.
Kenny Olson
No, I know it's not the point. The point is you didn't ask us. You didn't give us the opportunity.
Joe Soucheray
Young man, do you have three new cities to officially add today? May we have a fanfare of sorts? We're adding three new cities. Rookie, would you do the honor? Why do you come up with four? Because there's four. Four cities. I'm sorry. Could you please stand?
Rookie
I will do that.
Joe Soucheray
This isn't going to be seen at the moment. We're having some technical problem with YouTube.
Chris Reivers
It is being seen that we're having an issue with.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, I see. Okay. First city rook.
Rookie
Brewster.
Joe Soucheray
Brewster, Minnesota. Congratulations and hail you, Brewster, Minnesota.
Kenny Olson
South and west Crosby.
Joe Soucheray
Right up there on da range.
Kenny Olson
Thought we did that one yesterday.
Joe Soucheray
No, we don't have Crosby on the board. All right, Racine, we have that. I thought that was yesterday. Oh, yeah. These are new signs from yesterday. Yeah.
Rookie
And Stuartville, Stewartville.
Joe Soucheray
Could you please find the appropriate place in the alphabetical lineup of the cities?
Rookie
Brewster is between Baldwin and Brownsville.
Joe Soucheray
Thank you.
Rookie
Crosby.
Joe Soucheray
Crosby's a C word.
Rookie
It lies right after Champlin.
Joe Soucheray
That's right.
Chris Reivers
Nope.
Joe Soucheray
Well, after Columbus. No, no, no. O comes before R. O, R, M, N, O, R, P, Columbus.
Chris Reivers
Over.
Joe Soucheray
That's right.
Rookie
Place. Crosby.
Joe Soucheray
It's like playing mahjong.
Rookie
Double S, double B. Crosby.
Joe Soucheray
Yep.
Rookie
And then we got reception.
Joe Soucheray
That's an R. Find it there. QRS should be right there in front of Spring Park. Sweet Spring Grove.
Rookie
Right now.
Joe Soucheray
Yes, it is.
Rookie
Before S. Yes. And then Brother Martell will tell me to put Spring Lake park between Stewartville and St. Francis.
Joe Soucheray
Wonderful. Congratulations, you worthy Minnesotans. Now, let's go through today's list.
Rookie
I really feel my worth to the show today.
Kenny Olson
So that was yesterday's list, right?
Joe Soucheray
Yes. And here are new ones. And again, these emails will be given to our young technician following the show. This is from Camille. Camille Mickelson writes and she sends a photo of the real flag flying at city hall from the Lonsdale City hall website. Okay. Lonsdale. Thank you, Lonsdale. This is from Clay Great barbecue joint in Lonsdale. Please find attached a picture of the people's state flag on display in the Kilkenny City hall library. There was no vote. It was never taken down to begin with.
John H. (John Haidt)
Nice.
Kenny Olson
Nice.
Rookie
Perfect.
Chris Reivers
My folks don't live that far from Kilkenny. I can't believe I didn't bring that up. Because I.
Joe Soucheray
You did. You did mention.
Chris Reivers
Okay. I thought I did. Okay.
Kenny Olson
This is from an unfortunate name.
Rookie
Yeah, I don't like that.
Joe Soucheray
That kind of makes me uncomfortable.
Rookie
No, maybe it's just soul man 86.
Chris Reivers
Do you know what they did years ago? They did years ago. I don't know if it was a mayor or whatever. They reached out to south park, the creators of south park, because you know, every show.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah.
Chris Reivers
Oh, my God. You killed Kenny.
Joe Soucheray
Right?
Chris Reivers
To be part of the show, which I thought was great.
Joe Soucheray
Can I move on now? Oh, sorry.
Rookie
What do we got?
Joe Soucheray
This is Rick Martinson. Joe. I used to be a city council member for the city of Rockford, Minnesota. And the other day I reached out to the current mayor and asked him if he had switched over from the true flag to the government flag. And he said no, there is no reason to and that they would continue to find the historical flag of Minnesota. Thank you, Rockford. Rick. Okay, Rockford. Thank you, Rockford. God love this. People of this state. See, we lose sight of that.
Rookie
That they're still good.
Joe Soucheray
It's the state government we're disappointed in, not the people of Minnesota. Russ writes, I appreciate the Minnesota flag updates. I will always connect the horrendous fraud perpetrated on the Minnesota taxpayers with the government flag. And I'm gonna go with this. Is Russ living good in Olivia, Minnesota. He thinks we should call it the fraud flag. I think I like that. Let's call it the fraud flag. All right. The fraud flag versus the true or historical flag. All right. Good afternoon, gentlemen. A kid I used to have has verified that the city of Moose Lake is flying the real flag of the once great state of Minnesota. By the way, reminders on post it notes in one's car is a very normal and efficient way of remembering tasks and Errands. So go bleep yourselves, you young whippersnappers. Paul Herzog in Lewes, Delaware. So even Delaware is weighing in.
Kenny Olson
Okay.
Joe Soucheray
Lonsdale. No, I'm sorry. Moose Lake. He reported Moose Lake via a child he used to have Moose Lake. Joe, I sent you just north. Matthew, I sent you an email last week about my hometown of Plainview opting to fly the true flag. I now live in the beautiful Brainerd Lakes area, and I'm proud to say that the Crow Wing county has never flown. The government has never flown the fraud flag. The county board voted in early 2024 to reject the new design following constituent complaints and concerns about whitewashing history. The county has continued to display the old flag on the left of the. Wait. The city has continued to display the old flag or left the flagpole empty. Jeff and Brainerd. I'm counting Crow Wing counties flying the real flag.
Rookie
They never even changed.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, that was Kilkenny. Well, they both didn't. Big Lake. According to Mike Pesta, Big Lake has the. He says the good one flying all over town at city properties.
Rookie
We need to.
Joe Soucheray
Not the fraud one.
Rookie
There's a theme that keeps popping up here. We need to stick with the name for both flags. And.
Joe Soucheray
And I agree.
Rookie
And hold those down.
Joe Soucheray
I'm gonna go with. What do you want to go with, guys?
Rookie
Confused.
Joe Soucheray
The true flag.
Kenny Olson
I love true flag.
Chris Reivers
Or honest. The honest flag and the fraud flag.
Kenny Olson
I love true.
Joe Soucheray
Let's go with true.
Josh Arnold
All right.
Joe Soucheray
The true flag or the fraud flag
Rookie
and the frog flag.
Joe Soucheray
All right.
Rookie
Okay. That's it.
Joe Soucheray
All right. Kevin writes. I can confirm. Brewster, do we have. We already have Brewster on the board. Yeah. And a new one. Pat's own. Fulda, Minnesota.
Rookie
You don't tell me.
Joe Soucheray
I do. Fulda, Minnesota, both fly the true flag. I've driven by both. Thanks for your efforts. These now go to Gabe's hands for confirmation. And new signs to add to the board. We're working on an electrical means of displaying these wonderful Minnesota cities.
Rookie
I bet hate and Slayton is. They're probably.
Kenny Olson
Do we know where Patrick stands with the true flag and the fraud flag?
Joe Soucheray
Well, being very far to the left, he's. He's about as far left as Nolan Ryan, but he. He does.
Kenny Olson
That's a good way of putting it.
Joe Soucheray
I have not asked him and don't really want to because I'm sure he's unaware of both flags.
Rookie
Despite his political leanings, I don't think he would approve of that flag representing Minnesota.
Joe Soucheray
It's a fraud flag.
Rookie
Yes.
Joe Soucheray
Versus the true flag.
Rookie
I think he'd want the true flag.
Joe Soucheray
All right, we'll move on, but we'll do your update every day because this is the greatest.
Rookie
So I got to be here every day no matter what? Is that what you're saying?
Joe Soucheray
Well, I really wasn't, but I can understand what you mean.
Rookie
Whatever my life is going through, I will be here tomorrow. I will be here.
Joe Soucheray
Okay.
Rookie
I'll be here tomorrow.
Joe Soucheray
All right, thank you. We have in a. In a topic that's not necessarily unrelated to the fraud flag, we have a new form of theft developing. We've. We've suffered our own burdens with theft here in Minnesota. I will turn now to New York. Has anyone ever heard of a fellow named Hassan Piker? No, no. The far left commentator, but apparently a popular one. Could someone look him up? H A S A N hiker. He really has a hell of a last name for what he's confessing to. He was with a. With a rep. He. He joined a group of New York Times people.
Chris Reivers
Oh, actually I have heard of him because he goes by the online name of Hasan Abi. An American twitch streamer influencer and left wing political commentator. His content primarily consists of political and social commentary and media consumption. As of 2026, his channel ranks among the platforms most subscribed.
John H. (John Haidt)
Really?
Rookie
3.1 million followers.
Joe Soucheray
Holy mackerel. Well, he joined a panel including New York Times people to reveal that he is pro stealing from big corporations because they steal quite a bit more from their own workers. He said this on the opinions podcast. However, one thing that might even help your ethical dilemma is the fact that the automated process that they design these companies know will increase, shrink. I don't even know what he's talking about. He continued. So theft is factored in. The lemons that you steal are factored into the bottom line of these mega corporations. And they will end having increased profit margins because they no longer have to pay the cashiers that they used to hire, as opposed to this automated system knowing full well that people are still going to be able to steal a lot more efficiently, as a matter of fact, through the automated process. Okay, let me interrupt myself. He's not the only one I've seen who's been captured as a bit of a darling of the New York press for advocating this. There's an element among the press that finds this cute, that finds this charming. Charming. They had a picture of some good looking babe who lives in a $2 million Brooklyn Braunstone, and they were touting her advocating this Same thing she steals all the time.
Kenny Olson
Gia Tolino or Tolatino?
Joe Soucheray
I think so, yeah.
Kenny Olson
Also a writer like you said.
Joe Soucheray
And this goes on to say Piker was part of a discussion with the opinions culture editor, the New York Times opin culture editor Nadja Spiegelman and the New Yorker writer Gia Tolatino. Is that the one?
Kenny Olson
Yep.
Joe Soucheray
On the subject Spiegelman dubbed microluding. So the left has cleansed their souls by giving it a name. This is micro looting or people robbing stores out of protest of corporations. Now you have to admit the left has made some big jumps in this country. Hell, by, by most standards. By most standards. I was a traditional liberal by most standards. But it no longer means that the left is jumping all the way now to let's steal. Let's just steal stuff.
Kenny Olson
We do have Mary at Hennepin county turning criminals loose so it all works together for them.
Joe Soucheray
Somehow though, Piker stopped short of endorsing all forms of theft. That's a great question that I would ask Piker.
Rookie
Where?
Joe Soucheray
Well, how are you? How are you? I logically draw a line here. He was largely dismissive of concerns about stealing if a person was in need or if the act was simple. I think that's a sentiment shared by many of our legislators and city council people. I really do, you know. Yeah, I'm pro piracy too, like across the board. Would you pirate a car? Yes, I could if I could. Piker said, you know, if he needed the car, you gotta steal the car. What the hell, Joe?
Kenny Olson
Wait a minute. Pause a second. That's what our local officials were saying after the riots. The George Floyd riots.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah, they needed the stuff.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, yeah. All right, go ahead.
Joe Soucheray
And then to make it official, we just hired a bunch of gangsters and paid them to pretend they were on patrol.
Chris Reivers
Cause wasn't it AOC is the one that said they needed bread to eat and survive and all that.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah, yeah.
Kenny Olson
Nevermind the 20 cartons of cigarettes each one is walking out with.
Joe Soucheray
Piker said regarding stealing a car, it was just a classy thing. Back in the day the government funded anti piracy initiatives would be like, would you steal a car? I'm like, yeah, sure, if I could get away with it. If it was as easy as pirating intellectual property, I would do it. He added that he would personally not take part in microluding. It would not support stealing from places that would be taxpayer funded like libraries or government run groceries. He also agreed that the idea of private schools should be illegal. So again, the left has made some huge Jumps in society.
Kenny Olson
Did he elaborate?
Joe Soucheray
Because probably those evil kids would go on ahead. Corporations.
Kenny Olson
Exactly. Successful Americans.
Joe Soucheray
Let's see. Piker's comments come on the heels of several controversial comments he's made over the years against capitalism and in favor of communism. As he becomes more influential within the Democratic Party, which of course is no longer the Democratic Party. What was I going to do here? I have to take a break. So I'm going crazy.
Kenny Olson
Going.
Joe Soucheray
We used to ask my mom, where you going? She said, crazy. You want to come? I always want to drive.
Rookie
Do you want to drive?
Joe Soucheray
Like I'm not 16 yet. I don't know. You want to drive?
Chris Reivers
No. I am getting confirmation from loyal town council member Linda Keller. Kellertaxservice.com, by the way, follow your extension. I can confirm Sauk Center City hall is flying the true Minnesota.
Joe Soucheray
Write it down.
Chris Reivers
Where's that?
Joe Soucheray
Sauk Center's up near St. Cloud. Up near St. Cloud. Thank you, Linda. I'll tell you exactly where it is. It's between St. Cloud and Alec. Right? Thank you. No. Nope. It's 35W and Connie Road C in Roseville.
John H. (John Haidt)
Exactly where it is.
Joe Soucheray
Rosedale. Chev.com.

There it is. There it is. The real flag. The true flag.
Chris Reivers
That racist flag called by Tim Walls.
Joe Soucheray
That's not the fraud flag. Very good.
Kenny Olson
So far away right now.
Josh Arnold
So far away.
Chris Reivers
Thanks. Dire straits.
Joe Soucheray
Little Joe down there. Little Joe laying on the floor. Let's finish with this. Let's finish with this piker fellow, all right? He's advocating micro looting. He. He claims he wouldn't do it, but I don't know whether I believe anything he says. I Don't know anything about him, but he's terribly influential in the Democratic Party. Last month he went to Cuba with several left wing activists in support of the communist regime. But he ignored or downplayed the rolling blackouts in the nation. It's a country where the people can barely scrape together a meal.
John H. (John Haidt)
He must have gone with Asia, right?
Joe Soucheray
Yeah, he probably did. Last year, Piker referred to communism as the honorable end goal of socialism. Communism is supposed to be the end stage, Piker said. It's like the final goal. It's like the final evolution. A stateless, moneyless, classless society. Well, it doesn't work, son. It's been tried. A borderless society.
Kenny Olson
Does he realize that if we were in a communist society, he'd be one of the guys pushed out of a helicopter at 10,000ft?
Joe Soucheray
Does he realize that if we were in a communist society, he wouldn't be sitting on a panel with the elite from the New York Times? Unless he ends up one of the elite and they get to go to the special department store.
Kenny Olson
Oh, okay.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah, we've never really had communism. I know people will just jokingly sometimes say real communism has never been tried, but that literally has never existed. That's a shame. But this is where young people are headed. They've got their guy as the mayor of New York, Zoran Mamdani, who has no experience in anything except advocating communism. It doesn't work. But you know what? I guess if you don't want to work and you find the successes of other people evil or off putting to you, then you will insist that communism works.
Chris Reivers
Move to Minnesota.
Rookie
Move here.
Kenny Olson
I'm reading about this in a piece from Yahoo.com. yeah, and they go after. New Yorkers are going after the other one, the Tolentino gal.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah, she got a lot of pub. It's very cute that she was stealing lemons. And she's got the great body and the whole deal.
Kenny Olson
She lives in a $2.5 million brownstone in New York. She's rich. Everybody's accusing her of being the person that causes the prices to get raised up and causes toothpaste to get locked behind plexiglass doors, et cetera, et cetera. So New Yorkers are really going after her, at least.
Chris Reivers
Joel, before you introduce a new topic, Neil, on the garagelogic Twitter account, I'm about to repost this. We can now add the city of Windom, Minnesota to the list of communities proudly flying the true Minnesota state flag. He attached a photo with it, so.
Joe Soucheray
Thank you, Wyndham. I Will.
Chris Reivers
Thank you, Neil
Joe Soucheray
Gable. Add Windom.
Chris Reivers
One of the cool. I know it's not a town ball story. One of the coolest ballparks in the state of Minnesota. The left field wall is a pirate ship. Cause they're the Wyndham Pirates.
Joe Soucheray
The left field wall is a pirate ship.
Chris Reivers
It's very cool.
Joe Soucheray
So if you hit a home run, you hit it into the ar, Matey. You hit it right into the boat.
Chris Reivers
Yeah, that's right. Because they're the Wyndham Pirates, Joe.
Joe Soucheray
I see.
Chris Reivers
Get it?
Joe Soucheray
I do.
Kenny Olson
I do.
Joe Soucheray
The Pittsburgh Pirates,
Chris Reivers
what I says to
Joe Soucheray
them are occasionally called the Bucks. Yes. That must be for buccaneers.
Chris Reivers
Correct?
Joe Soucheray
Sure. All right.
Chris Reivers
Isn't a. It's a buccaneer is different from a pirate because doesn't it hail from a different territory?
Kenny Olson
What in the.
Joe Soucheray
Sam.
Chris Reivers
I'm gonna look it up.
Kenny Olson
Are you guys tripping?
Chris Reivers
No, I'm not.
Kenny Olson
Microdose.
Joe Soucheray
Look at the color we all have now. We all look like we're diseased for that.
Kenny Olson
What I said to the pirates.
Joe Soucheray
You come. You got me right now.
Mike Schoonover
But I got you.
Kenny Olson
Did Matthew get fired mid show?
John H. (John Haidt)
Yeah. What happened? We don't know.
Chris Reivers
Sometimes he just kind of wants.
Joe Soucheray
Sometimes he just. He's beating.
Kenny Olson
So is he coming back?
Joe Soucheray
No, no, not today. Not today.
John H. (John Haidt)
Buccaneers were 17th century pirates.
Joe Soucheray
What were pirate. Pirates?
John H. (John Haidt)
I just called pirates. Buccaneers were English, French and Dutch who hunted Spanish ships.
Joe Soucheray
I think I'd rather be a buccaneer than a pirate.
Chris Reivers
I will accept your apology.
Joe Soucheray
For what?
Chris Reivers
I don't know.
Joe Soucheray
Okay. I'm sorry.
John H. (John Haidt)
You said they were different. Chris. We'll accept your apology.
Chris Reivers
Thank you.
Joe Soucheray
Democratic Party candidates. Remember, it's not the Democratic Party anymore. I don't know what the hell they are. Well, I do. Democratic Party candidates for California governor said they would fight the Trump administration's push to get California police officers to begin using Englishy proficiency tests for big truck drivers in the state because asking those big truck drivers to speak English would be racist.
Kenny Olson
So they're putting the onus now on the authorities.
Joe Soucheray
The warnings and fear expressed about implementing stricter regulations to assure any. Anyone with a commercial driver's license can understand American road signs came from Democrats during the first California gubernatorial debate since Eric Swalwell was forced to jump out of the race. He had some sex problems. It also follows efforts by the Trump administration to push states to become stricter about handing out CDLs, commercial driver's licenses, and a slew of news headlines and Homeland Security reports highlighting fatal tractor crashes by illegal immigrants who struggle to sufficiently speak English racial profiling is illegal and in fact, picking on people based on the color of their skin in the state of California is illegal. Democrat mega donor and billionaire businessman Tom Steyer said when asked if he would support a policy enforcing police to issue roadside language proficiency tests to truck drivers. Asking truck drivers to speak English in the United States of America or at the very least to understand the road signs written in the English language is not racist. I defy anyone, including Tom Heyer, who uses his billions to be a complete pain in the ass. No matter where he turns. I would defy him to explain to me how that again, people do not know what racism is. Racism is the ultimately less than racism is the belief that someone based on their. The color of their skin is not as capable as you. That's racism. Where is there racism in the idea that I'm asking a Malaysian truck driver to please know English road signs? I'm essentially saying, I know you are capable of it. Please understand the English signs. Why is that racist? Well, the answer is it's not.
Chris Reivers
It's not.
Kenny Olson
It's not. This is only one part of the problem when it comes to these truck drivers. We've got the guys driving down the freeway and got, you know, 62 in a 70 looking at their phone going all over the GD road. I mean, it's all over. You have to get on it to get by these guys because they're going to sideswipe you. They're horrible drivers, Kenny.
Chris Reivers
The best one is when you see the sandal lifted up on the dash sticking out the window.
Kenny Olson
What in the.
Chris Reivers
What are you doing? You're not. There's no way this is safe.
Kenny Olson
And then the rumors about. And they're not rumors, but we have to treat them as such at this point about them going number two in the cab through a hole in the floor, out onto the road as they're driving down the freeway.
Joe Soucheray
Yep. I'm unaware of that.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, I'm not. Ask any trucker.
Joe Soucheray
Is. Is that officer asking everyone he pulls over to explain those road signs, or is he asking only people who look like me? If he's doing that, then he's violating the law. Former Biden administration Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said, slamming a police officer in a short local news clip played at the outset of the question showing an officer issuing a field test to determine if a commercial driver who spoke Spanish could understand road signs. That's not racism.
Chris Reivers
Well, that's your answer.
Joe Soucheray
That's not racist.
Chris Reivers
If the driver doesn't speak English. You have every right to ask if they understand the verbiage of road signs.
Kenny Olson
That's the new racism.
Joe Soucheray
Meanwhile, Republican California gubernatorial hopeful Sheriff Chad Bianco slammed the Democratic opponents for pulling the race race card. Let's stop with this whole racism thing and racial profiling and all this garbage. We have to get over this. You either violated the law or you didn't, end of story, bianco said. Consequences for bad Behavior the Department of Transportation announced in October that it would withhold $40 million from California, arguing the state has failed to comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's English language proficiency standards. They pulled the pulled funding came after an audit found that a pattern of states was issuing licenses illegally to foreigners, including including through not ensuring drivers could speak sufficient English. In California alone, the audit claimed to have found more than 25% of non domicile commercial driver's license reviewed were improperly issued. And then we could cite all the horrible crashes that have taken place, but really, this country has really, really fallen into a swirling downhill when these Democrats get to play the race card on things that are not racist. If I went to Germany to get a and wanted a commercial truck driving license, wouldn't I have to know the German signs? You would think the Germans would expect me to know the German signs.
Kenny Olson
Good point.
Joe Soucheray
It wouldn't occur to me that they were being racist in demanding that I know how to read their signs.
Kenny Olson
It'd be fun to have a liberal go over there and get pulled over.
Joe Soucheray
Honest to God people, what's wrong with you Democrats in California? Would it be the same here? Here? I'm surprised it hasn't come up here.
Kenny Olson
Oh it will.
Joe Soucheray
Well, I got another one. I got another one. Democrat which doesn't mean Democrat anymore. Democrat dominated Ann Arbor, Michigan is raising eyebrows and garnering widespread mockery for removing all of its anti crime watch signs across the city in order to be more inclusive. They believe the signs are racist. This has nothing to do with racism. Nothing.
John H. (John Haidt)
Are you stealing Onion stories again?
Joe Soucheray
No, this is true. The move was Holy cow. Has the move even prompted New York City Council member, a rare Republican on the New York City Council named Vicky Paladino to say how do we allow that to happen? They're just insane. The Michigan city announced Tuesday that at the direction of the City council, which voted 10 to nothing for this, it completed the city wide removal of more than 600 neighborhood watch signs. In a statement, the city explained that removing the signs aligns the city's environment with its commitment to inclusive evidence based public safety. So in other words, you can go steal the car. If they get evidence, it won't matter who you are. They'll just be able to call it a crime that didn't have the burden of a sign. The decision to remove the signs was made by a unanimous 10 nothing city council vote in December. The city said the move is fostering trust, belonging and welcoming neighborhoods for all residents and visitors. These people are insane.
Kenny Olson
I have never in my life associated you're talking about those crime watch signs with the big eyeball on them. Never once in my life have I thought that to be directed at black people or Mexicans or anybody else.
Joe Soucheray
Well, because there are people who do get up in the morning and they wonder what to bitch about. They are very dark souled people.
Kenny Olson
You write their dark soul, it's what's within their heart. So they're basically what they're saying is I have a heart full of hate and this is how I'm compensated.
Joe Soucheray
Hassan Piker has a dark soul. The City Council of Ann Arbor has a dark soul. Gubernatorial candidates in California have dark, dark souls. These are dark people. We've talked about dark people before. They see no brightness. These are the people who see no equality. These are the people who see no inclusiveness. These are the darkest people among us and they get by with it. Selling this racist BS to people who don't pay any attention. It's just a crime. Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor, a Democrat, further explained the decision in an official video released by the city and set to music. Taylor said, frankly, neighborhood watch signs are expression of exclusion. How could that possibly be? How could that possibhat's insanity?
Kenny Olson
Does the sign say, hey black people, we're watching you.
Joe Soucheray
It's like seeing a wall painted black in a art gallery is racist. The resolution to remove the signs passed by the City Council read that the neighborhood watch programs were often rooted in assumptions about who did and did not belong in a neighborhood, reinforcing race based hypervigilance with suspicion, particularly toward black, brown and other marginalized residents and visitors. This is according to an outlet around Ann Arbor called the Midwesterner. In a statement, the city called the neighborhood Watch program defunct, saying that it emerged during a period of national anxiety and crime and social change. I guess when Ann Arbor was going through that it was okay to be racist and it's such stigma, the city said. Such signage, the city said, does not reduce crime and can reinforce biased surveillance. I don't know folks, if I could continue this show. I just don't know If I can.
Kenny Olson
I was a little curious thinking about Ann Arbor. One does not think about crime. So I looked at up. Ann Arbor generally has a lower overall crime rate than the national average. Ann Arbors is 20.15 per 1,000 versus the 33.37 nationally. They have very safe residential areas. Most of the crime is concentrated downtown. Recent data data shows a 7% drop in overall city crime.
Joe Soucheray
They're all. They all appear to be perky white people who did this, right? Shiny, shiny, cleany white, tiny happy people cleaning. It's
Kenny Olson
Ann Arbor. Would not like the signs on the edge of my town that say and I'm serious. No soliciting, no canvassing, no lingering, no smiling, no hand holding, no looking each other in the eye. You can't do anything in my town.
Joe Soucheray
We have the the same beliefs held here in a defund the police movement. Because the Marxist socialists that you keep electing believe that crime is committed by people who are victims of oppression and white supremacy. And there's really no such thing as crime. And you're seeing this the closer you get to the country's tallest buildings wherever you go. Crime is an affectation created by the flawed founding of the country. And this Hassan Piker, he's leading the way by telling us that we're jumping right to the end game here. We don't want laws, we don't want borders, we don't want money, we don't want anything. We want class. Except for him. He'd have a class to belong to. But they're jumping. They're leapfrogging themselves to get to the end of the game. And the end of the game for them is the complete takeover of a country called the United States. That used to work. We've been calling it the mystery for 15 years. We now know what the mystery is. It's the attempt to completely destroy this country and replace it with communism.
Kenny Olson
And they obviously assume that they're going to be part of the elite living in the castle with the king and queen.
Joe Soucheray
Well, they get to go to the special departments store. Yeah, we're only the. The pilot bureau gets to shop.
Kenny Olson
You got my reference. Thank you.
Joe Soucheray
It's a wonderful, wonderful situation. Let's take down the. See what. What dark people do.
Kenny Olson
Explain that before you.
Chris Reivers
Not the color of skin.
Joe Soucheray
It's not the color of skin. Dark people are people with dark souls with a bleak dystopian vision of life. They have no joy in their lives. And what dark people do is they plant these seeds in perfectly innocent people. Kenny just said it. I could say the same thing. I never once in my life looked at. What are those things called? Neighborhood alert signs, Crime Watch. I never once in my life looked at them and thought, we've had so many over the years. There was a lady who complained that Hobby Lobby was selling cotton balls for art projects. Remember that one? And she complained that the cotton balls were racist. In my. Now that's a woman. That's a woman whose soul is so blackened she can hardly function. It never would have occurred to me that a cotton. It still won't. But she wanted to plant the seed that a cotton ball in a hobby store was racist.
Kenny Olson
How come somebody doesn't come up to her, a reporter or whoever she's telling this to, and just tell her, shut up. You're Go home and watch Days of Our Lives. You're an idiot. Shut up. Never say that again.
Joe Soucheray
Same with the Ann Arbor City Council. You people are insane. You're just insane.
Kenny Olson
Part of me wishes that Ann Arbor would now take it over by crime.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, yeah,
Kenny Olson
I won't say that on the one.
Joe Soucheray
Could hardly blame you. Now, just in time for the weekend, the weather is turning back into at least the 60s. Maybe near the seasonal temperature it's supposed to be. I don't know what the temperature is supposed to be. Felt a little cool these last few days, but I don't know what it's supposed to be. But over the weekend, into the 60s, get to EcoFund Motorsports in Forest Lake, Columbus. I've seen a lot of electric bikes out. They're fun, they're easy to ride, you can cover a lot of distance, you can still get your exercise. They're fantastic. And at Ecofund, they have more than 400 electric bikes in stock, starting at 899. And Kaylin Bloom, Tim's daughter, is the electric bike savant of the United States. They fly around the world to give seminars. You will not leave there without the perfect fit, the perfect size tires, the handlebar, the seat, everything. They've got 130 motorcycles on display. They've got Jet Skis and WaveRunners. If you purchase one now at EcoFun, you're getting the trailer. That's a $1,500 value. Youth recreational equipment, outdoor equipment, helmets, apparel, great service department. It will be the most fun store you ever spend time in. It's EcoFun Motorsports on Highway 97, immediately west of the interstate up Forest Lake way and down in Burnsvill on the service road of life near County Road 42. Ecofunmotorsports.com.

Positive Thursday is always brought to us by schoon over body works and auto care. They're in Shoreview, 1060 County Road E. Mike Schoonover is here. Mike, I can't believe it. I got an email request that we talk about a certain subject.
Mike Schoonover
Let's go.
Kenny Olson
And it's a subject where I think if I don't understand something, I just call it voodoo. And in the case of paintless dent repair, hail damage repair, that's voodoo. I don't know how you guys do that.
Mike Schoonover
There's nothing voodoo about it, Kenny. Nothing voodoo at all. But yeah, yeah, we were just talking about this on my talk last week. There's been hail, and there probably will be more hail as we come about. But whether you got hail or you got a sh cart or a door ding or your kid smoked the side of your car with his bike, those are all things that paintless dent repair can fix. So it really is. That's all it means, Kenny, is we're going to do some. We're going to use some tools to either push the dent out from the backside or we're going to stretch the metal with some special tools on the outside, or we're going to use some adhesive tools to be able to pull out the dent and use some heat and do whatever just so we don't have to paint. Paint. And that is a significant savings and it's savings in dollars and also in time.
Kenny Olson
Is this a case with hail repair where you do a good, better, best situation?
Mike Schoonover
It always depends on the car. So, you know, gl ers if you get hail damage, and let's just say you have three cars in the fleet and the kid car is, you know, a 2015 Honda and it got smoked by hail. I would say maybe just take the money and run, but have us do the estimate and send that to insurance companies. So you're getting your maximum amount that you're owed on your policy. And then let's just say you got a couple of vehicles that are a year or two older. It all depends on how significant the damage is.
Josh Arnold
If.
Mike Schoonover
If we can repair it with paintless dent repair, that's going to be our first option. Sometimes we can't, and we have to do either conventional bodywork, which is, you know, body and paint work, or we need to do panel replacement. So it all depends on the size of the hail, you know, all kinds of determining factors.
Kenny Olson
Here's what I did. And you body men, you. I don't know what the deal Is with your eyeballs. But you see things that us civilians don't see. I'm standing in my local neck hard where, you know, lying and telling stories and whatnot. The local body guy comes in and goes, hey, you really got hit with hail on that truck, didn't you? I said to him, oh, you're funny. No, no, that thing's never been in the hail. He goes, come here. He takes me out there and he shows me all these little dings in the hood and I got hit with hail. Now I don't know if I made a mistake or not, but I decided since I can't see him, I'm not going to worry about him. And I thought about the insurance angle and I thought, you know what? I don't want to get involved with my insurance company at all in this case case. I just want to be left alone. I guess that would be one of the options. Plus, Mike, at the time, the thing had 150,000 on it, correct?
Rookie
Yeah.
Mike Schoonover
But if you got. If you got collision or. I'm sorry, if you have comprehensive coverage on your vehicle.
Kenny Olson
I do.
Mike Schoonover
You are, you are paying a premium to protect your vehicle. So it's worth a conversation. It may, you know, these days it sounds like. Or I know that, you know, people file a claim and their rates are getting jacked up. So. Yeah, never in the history of if. You know, I've been in this business full time for over 40 years and I have never heard of the pay so much and get so little with the insurance industry right now. So I don't know if it's a phase or if this is the way it's going to be. But anyway, just have a conversation and by all means, gl ers, if you need some advice, our advice is free. We'll talk you through should you, shouldn't you? And then we can talk about solutions of either writing up an estimate or making a repair plan or doing whatever. But yeah, we can help out with that pdr. So Kenny, the other thing though is we do find the flaws and everything. So it's a horrible life to live. So we kind of. Us body people are glass half empty people because we'll look and we'll go, oh yeah, that panel doesn't match or you got a scrape there. So anyway, that's our existence. We just live with it.
Kenny Olson
Well, the fact that you guys deal with our insurance companies, that's a big seller for me. You guys have been around since 38. That has. In 1938. And that's why you're the official shop of GL and always rated as one of the top shops in the metro. Just do a Google search folks. You can see for yourself. They're on the web. Schoonover bodyworks.com thank you very much Mike.
Mike Schoonover
Thanks Kenny. Thanks Jellers everybody.

Have a great day. Day.

Joe Sucere We Are Nuts is a Minnesota family owned company doing small batch fresh roasted nuts right here in the great state of Minnesota. And you know what? It's real ingredients. It's insanely good. Available now at Quick Trip. You know that 700 different locations. But how about this? This is pretty cool. Quick Rewards members, which I happen to be one by the way, you're going to save 5 cents per gallon of gas on a future fuel purchase when you purchase any We Are Nuts product at participating Quick Trip locations. In fact, that's where I got the maple bourbon toffee almonds. I think it was the St. Peter Quick Trip location that I woofed those down watching the wild game the other day which was very good for me. Anyway, so all of you quick rewards members, 5 cents a gallon, which by the way I think I spent 80 bucks on gas today fueling up. But G. Ellers, I don't need to tell you about gas prices right now. Minnesota, it's not exactly going down. So every time you pull into the pump it hurts a little. And that's why this deal actually makes some sense. So all through the month of May, which is starting tomorrow, according to my sources, Quick Rewards members can save $0.05 per gallon of gas when you buy We Are Nuts at participating Quick Trips location. And you know what? Fratellonis Coburn's, they're everywhere.
Joe Soucheray
Did you get the email I sent forward?
Chris Reivers
I sure did.
Joe Soucheray
Is it Vaughn Hansen's?
Chris Reivers
Vaughn Hansen's is also now carrying the We Are Nuts brand. It's insanely good. They're a wonderful company and family owned right here in the great state of Minnesota. We are nutsmn.com here's John Haidt.
John H. (John Haidt)
Thank you Joe. This news brought to you by North American Banking Company. Big sports night here in the Twin Cities. The Wild playing Dallas in St. Paul. The Wild lead that best of seven series three games to two. A win would move them on in the playoffs. Same story for the Wolves. They play Denver at the well now almost 40 year old target Center. I heard that they leave that series three games to two. A win would move them on 36 years.
Joe Soucheray
They do have 36, 36 years old.
John H. (John Haidt)
Yeah, 36 years old. They do have some problems. The Wolves are without Anthony Edwards, of course, their star, and Dante DiVincenzo because of injuries. And I have not heard an update on Nas Reed. He, he sprained an ankle the other night, but I don't know if he's going to be ready to play or not. So they're a little shorthanded, but good luck to him anyway.
Chris Reivers
And that's the, that's the troubling thing is even if they do get by Denver, they're going to get absolutely rolled by San Antonio.
Joe Soucheray
Well, you don't know. There's always hope in the bright outlook.
Chris Reivers
Captain optimism over here.
Kenny Olson
Where am I?
Chris Reivers
Did Joe get kidnapped?
Joe Soucheray
Let's be a little more upbeat.
Kenny Olson
Okay? It is positive Thursday.
Chris Reivers
That's a good point. Brought to us by Schoonovers.
Joe Soucheray
You're right.
Kenny Olson
You're right.

In news, David Hand has suspended his campaign for the Minnesota open U.S. senate seat, according to a statement on social media. The former Republican Party Minnesota chairman and Minnesota Senate Minority leader did not specify why he was leaving the race. He said, even as I share today that I'm suspending my campaign, I have hope that Minnesotans will elect common sense conservative leadership in November. He did not endorse any other candidates in pulling out of the race. In a KSTP survey USA TODAY poll released back in February, Han received 2% support from 650 respondents. Minnesota's primary day is August 11th. The remaining candidates for the open Senate seat include Republicans Michelle Tafoya, Adam Schwarz and Royce White. Democrats running include Congresswoman Angie Craig and Lieutenant Governor governor Peggy Flanagan.

Royce, just come on boy.

Department of Justice announced. Three people have now been charged for allegedly assaulting a turning point USA journalists during an anti anti ice protest earlier this month. Christopher Deanna and Paige Ostrushko were indicted by a grand jury for allegedly assaulting Savannah Hernandez at the Whipple Building on April 11th 11th. Christopher and Paige are also charged with willfully and forcefully injuring and intimidating the journalist. According to the doj, Hernandez recorded the encounter, which shows protesters surrounding her, shoving her, yelling at her and whistling in her ear. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said Hernandez was attacked because she was identified as a conservative journalist. The Hennepin County Attorney's office added that 51 year old Christopher has been charged with with one count of fifth degree assault after he forcefully shoved the victim in the back head first to the ground. Three other people arrested in the incident were not charged by the HCAO due to insufficient evidence at the Legislature. The Minnesota Senate Finance Committee passed a bill yesterday with several measures aimed at guns and school safety. It'll now go to the Senate floor. The bill includes a ban on the sale of assault weapons and large capacity magazines, along with bans on ghost guns and binary triggers. It would also regulate safe gun storage and designate $20 million for school safety and 14.7 million for mental health programs. However, the bill does face a tough road to passage. Democrats have a slim one vote majority in the Senate, no guarantee that all Democrats would vote for gun bills. It'll be even tougher in the House, where Republicans and Democrats share power. After the governor's speech on Tuesday night, Republican House Speaker Lisa Damuth said Republicans are not to be blamed for not passing gun bills, saying gun bills, when Democrats had full control of state government, didn't have the votes within their own caucuses. A bill aimed at stabilizing Hennepin County Medical center and other hospitals across the state has passed the Minnesota Senate. That measure passed on a party line 34 to 32 vote on Wednesday, all Democrats voting in favor. It now heads to the House where negotiations will likely be necessary for final passage. Message ahead of it Health care. You've probably heard in the last week their leaders have warned HCMC faces a 50 million dollar deficit and could run out of money later this year if it doesn't receive an emergency cash infusion. The hospital system cited uncompensated care, increased Medicaid disenrollment and the dissolution of UCARE as the main drivers of its mounting costs. Included in the $700 million package would be $150 million in direct grants to HCMC, plus additional money for hospital stabilization, IT upgrades and food security. From the Pioneer Press A serial Peeper from St. Paul has been sentenced Ramsey County District Court to three years and five months in prison for stalking, as well as one year and ten months for interfering with privacy. 45 year old John David Searle watched women and couples through their windows of their homes near the University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine, according to criminal complaints. In some cases, he would film the victims. Searle was arrested in September after two students saw him looking into their window and called police. Further investigation of his electronic devices revealed videos of other victims. People he filmed included an 18 year old woman and a 21 year old woman, both in their bedrooms, according to the charges. In the past two decades, Searle has been convicted of at least a dozen instances of stalking, peeping, invading the privacy of the other of others and harassment. He's also been convicted of racketeering and fleeing police. In January he pleaded guilty to stalking and interfering with privacy, both with previous violations or convictions. He will now serve the sentences concurrently and get credit for 345 days already served in custody. A third charge of interfering with privacy was dispatched. Dismissed at sentencing.
Joe Soucheray
Lock them up forever.
Kenny Olson
Well, I have a question about that actually, Joe. Would it be wrong instead of calling 911 to sneak out, get behind him, maybe put a Louisville slugger to his knees and drag him into the basement and get medieval on his ass? I mean, is anybody.
Joe Soucheray
I don't think that's wrong at all.
Kenny Olson
I've got a, I've got. Got a tractor with a loader and lots of acreage, you know.
Chris Reivers
So Johnny, we could haul him to
Kenny Olson
the train station, so to speak, but
Joe Soucheray
he can't do Yellowstone. You can't shoot him though, right? We shouldn't shoot him.
Kenny Olson
No, no, no.
Joe Soucheray
This, that's too quick.
Kenny Olson
This is going to be lighters and the solder irons.
Chris Reivers
Johnny, was he doing this for purposes of extortion? Because there's a reason I'm asking.
John H. (John Haidt)
It does not mention that in the story, Chris. It sounds to me like it was purely for his then.
Chris Reivers
Has this guy never heard of the Internet?
Joe Soucheray
The Internet? Apparently not.
Kenny Olson
This is next level, Chris.
John H. (John Haidt)
I, I get that.
Kenny Olson
But some people like to watch the hockey game from home. Some people like to go and see it in person.
John H. (John Haidt)
Lovely analogy, Kenny.
Joe Soucheray
Well, I mean, you know,
John H. (John Haidt)
on that note, why don't we take a quick break here?
Chris Reivers
That's what, that's it?
John H. (John Haidt)
I'm sure we'll get more analogies right now.
Chris Reivers
Say scar.
Kenny Olson
You know you can't turn this on me height because I'm going to turn it right back on you. I want to talk about your lawn height. How's. How's she looking?
John H. (John Haidt)
It looks. It's in mid summer form. It's nice and fluffy and soft and green.
Chris Reivers
In fact, if you'd like an up close personal view, just email height and swing by.
Kenny Olson
I'm glad you said midsummer form because have you ever. Between treatments from Pro Turf and ProfessionalTurf.com, have you ever seen a weed or two crop up in the middle of summer?
John H. (John Haidt)
I have once. It was the first time I ever used them. They came out, took care of it immediately and since then, just beautiful.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, that's what I wanted to bring up. If you're a first time customer, you've already been to professionalturf.com you signed up for the services three to four, three to four treatments per year.
Joe Soucheray
Year.
Kenny Olson

John H. (John Haidt)
Thanks, Kenny. In national and international news, the US war in Iran has cost $25 billion so far, according to a senior Pentagon official. He provided the first official estimate of the military's price tag for the continent conflict. With just six months before midterm elections in which President Trump's Republicans could face an uphill battle to keep their House majority, Democrats say they're riding high public opinion polls as they link the Iran war with affordability. Jules Hurst, who is performing the duties of the comptroller, told lawmakers on the House Armed Services Committee that most of the money was spent on munitions. Hearst did not detail what that cost estimate included and whether it took into account the the projected costs of rebuilding and repairing base infrastructure in the Middle east that was damaged during the conflict. U.S. national debt now exceeds 100% of gross domestic product. That's great, crossing a once unthinkable threshold on the way toward breaking a record that was set way back right after World War II. As of March 31, the country's publicly held debt was at $31.31.265 trillion, while GDP over the preceding year was 31.216 trillion. That puts the ratio at 100.2%. Here's what all that means. The government is spending a buck 33 for every dollar it collects in revenue.
Joe Soucheray
That ain't no way to run a hot dog stand, is it? Nope.
John H. (John Haidt)
No the budget deficit this year is projected at $1.9 trillion. That's not a whole lot changed for 2025 as Republicans tax cuts will kick in before their spending cuts take effect. The final tally will depend on Iran, war spending, tariff refunds and the strength of the economy. Federal Reserve held interest rates steady yesterday, but in its most divided decision since 1992 noted rising concerns about inflation in a policy statement that drew three dissents from officials with who no longer think the US Central bank should communicate a bias toward lowering borrowing rates. A fourth dissent at the meeting came in favor of a quarter percentage point rate cut. The 84 vote was the most divisive since October 6, 1992. Jerome Powell will be replaced as central bank chief on May 15 by Kevin Warsh. He did say yesterday, that is Powell, that he will stay on as a central bank governor for an undetermined period of a time when his leadership term ends next month. Camp Mystic. Remember Camp mystic in Texas?
Joe Soucheray
Yes. Terrible flooding.
John H. (John Haidt)
28 people died. They, up until yesterday had said they would be there again this year and were making plans. But now, just in the last hour or so, they announced they will not reopen this summer.
Joe Soucheray
Well, who in the hell would send their kid there after this?
John H. (John Haidt)
Apparently, they had some folks already signed up and ready to go. But just. It was supposed to start in just a couple of weeks. But in the statement this morning, the camp said it had informed the Texas Department of State Health Services it was, quote, withdrawing its application for summer 2020. 2026. Camp license David Allen co. Has died. Kenny wanted me to get that on, didn't you?
Kenny Olson
Yeah. 86 years old, was he?
John H. (John Haidt)
86? I was like, in 82. I don't actually have the copy in front of him. I just saw it before I went on here one.
Kenny Olson
Interesting. You know, and he's famous for Take this job and shove it, right?
Chris Reivers
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Kenny Olson
But I know him as singing a song that he didn't write, which. A song that I just love so much. Some people call it a novelty song. You never even called Me by My Name, which was written by what? Prine and another guy and Steve Goodman.
John H. (John Haidt)
Mostly Steve Goodman.
Kenny Olson
Actually, the way he sang that, it did not come off as a novelty song at all. It was a painful, heartbreaking song.
John H. (John Haidt)
Yeah. And the original, I see. I knew the original before I knew his version.
Kenny Olson
Okay.
John H. (John Haidt)
Version.
Kenny Olson
Yeah.
John H. (John Haidt)
Obviously meant to be a parody of country songs.
Kenny Olson
Sure.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah. And.
John H. (John Haidt)
Yeah. Him and Prine sat down one night, you know, drinking beers. Goodman and Prine and wrote that.
Kenny Olson
I. I mean, okay, so it's hilarious. Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison. I went to pick her up in the rain. Before I could get down to the station in my pickup truck she got run over by a damned old train. Okay, that's funny. It's a joke. But when he sings it, it makes me feel bad.
John H. (John Haidt)
My favorite part of that song is. You don't have to call me. You know, he names all the country secrets.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, Waylon, Charlie, Merle.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah. Yeah.
John H. (John Haidt)
Anyway, he also did a couple albums, unfortunate albums, if you listen to them, that are full of racial slurs and. How can we put this? Sexist. He said later they were meant to be parody, basically, kind of songs. They don't come across that way.
Kenny Olson
No, not at all.
John H. (John Haidt)
But anyway, David Allen coded a big part of the last 40 years of country music history.
Kenny Olson
Absolutely, yeah.
John H. (John Haidt)
Should be mentioned.
Joe Soucheray
Well, John, is there more?
John H. (John Haidt)
Well, not if you don't want it, Joe. I mean, I have seven, eight more stories.
Kenny Olson
Everything okay over there, Tom Thumb?
Joe Soucheray
What? You doing this? Am I little on the screen again?
Kenny Olson
No, you're fine.
Joe Soucheray
You're better.
John H. (John Haidt)
You're just little in real life.
Josh Arnold
Wow, that's mean.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, my.
John H. (John Haidt)
Well, I didn't mean it in a mean way.
Joe Soucheray
He meant. I know what he meant.
Josh Arnold
Yeah.
John H. (John Haidt)
Thank you, Joe.
Joe Soucheray
Say thank you. We'll take a time out.
Chris Reivers
We will. But not before we hear about North American Bank Company. You know what? They're locally owned and operated. Joe, you might be asking yourself.
Joe Soucheray
You know, I. I wish you would not keep addressing this to me.
Chris Reivers
What do you mean?
Joe Soucheray
Well, it makes me uncomfortable that you keep with a client like the nuts and the banks and the water show
Chris Reivers
interaction with the staff. That way kind of add a personal touch to it. You might be asking, why are they locally?
Joe Soucheray
I was gonna ask that.
Chris Reivers
Why is that important? Well, I am so glad, because I
Joe Soucheray
don't want my loans sold.
Chris Reivers
That's exactly what that means. They don't send them out of state. They keep everything in house. And that's what sets them apart from all those big gargantuan national banks. They are locally owned and operated right here in the twin cities, with six wonderful locations to serve you. Roseville and 50th and France, that's the home of yours truly. But you can also see them in Hastings, Woodbury, Shoreview, and also in Maple Grove, offering you the same online updated mobile banking tools as all of those other big national. And it doesn't really matter what you're looking to do. You want to start a business yeah. They're here to help you out investing in your success. You know what you're thinking about getting a new car.
Rookie
Yep.
Chris Reivers
New home? Sure. Home remodeling project.
Kenny Olson
Yep.
Chris Reivers
They can take care of that as well. But you have to see it for yourself today. So check them out online. It's nabankco.com to learn more. It's banking done differently. North American Banking company member FDIC is an equal housing lender.

Joe Soucheray
Say, are you looking for a hot date this summer? Huh?
Kenny Olson
Yeah, sure. I'll play along.
Joe Soucheray
The Minneapolis park and Recreation Board has voted in favor of allowing Minnesota hot tub boats, that's the name of the country, to operate out of Boom Island Park. You can get out there on the river. The boats are electric, but they have a hot. They're hot tubs. A floating hot tub. And then you can get loose and go over the dam and die a miserable death. I guess. I don't know how this is supposed to work.
Kenny Olson
So you're sitting in water while sitting in water.
Joe Soucheray
My main problem with this is I see a hygiene problem. Okay, so you're on.
Chris Reivers
You're not a big fan of community hot tubs.
Joe Soucheray
Well, you're on. You're on the hot tub boat and you twirl around out there for a couple hours and you come back. They. They probably got a. Hose her down, don't they replace the hot tub water?
Chris Reivers
I'm sure they are doing that constantly.
Joe Soucheray
And what difference would it look like? The water in the Mississippi at Boom island park is, you know, half beer cans and cellophane wrappers and I don't get the appeal.
Kenny Olson
Have you guys ever had a Jacuzzi in your hotel room?
Joe Soucheray
Sure.
Kenny Olson
And when you're done and you drain the water, you see the line of hot scum.
Joe Soucheray
I've never. Every chance I get, I don't use it. I would never use it. Yeah, I don't. I don't.
Kenny Olson
Pretty nasty. Even if you take a shower first and then you go in the hot tub, you drain the hot tub, there's still a black line where the water line was.
Joe Soucheray
Okay, you. These little hot tub boats will have electric motors. You drive them yourself. You don't have to have an attendant with you.
Kenny Olson
That's a bummer.
Joe Soucheray
That'd be kind of weird because I'm
Kenny Olson
going to be busy doing other stuff and then.
Joe Soucheray
And then you don't need a boating license. You just go out there and do anything you want and act crazy and. And play bumper. Bumper cars. I don't see how it could.
Kenny Olson
No, no.
Joe Soucheray
You're on the water, in the water. And then at Boom island. And then you bring it back. I suppose the rental charge per hour. Maybe it'll be a great fun thing to do. I don't know that I would do it. I could see doing it in parts of the river that might be more attractive.
Kenny Olson
I had to look up a definition of a word. Smegma.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, I don't even like the sound of it.
Kenny Olson
Is a natural word. White, cheesy substance composed of shed skin cells, oils, moisture that accumulates under the private areas.
Joe Soucheray
Think of all the suntan lotion that would be in there, man.
John H. (John Haidt)
It's pretty pricey too. Joe. I just want to look.
Joe Soucheray
How much?
John H. (John Haidt)
Well, if you want a Thursday, that's your cheap.
Joe Soucheray
I'd like to go on Thursdays.
John H. (John Haidt)
90 minute rental, $300.
Joe Soucheray
Holy mackerel.
John H. (John Haidt)
And then it's more on retail.
Joe Soucheray
Wow.
John H. (John Haidt)
400.
Joe Soucheray
It must be fun for 300 bucks.
Kenny Olson
Do you get a free tetanus shot with that?
Joe Soucheray
There's a medical tent by the side there. Triage only because they come to us all the way from a port of call in Oahu, Honolulu, Hawaii, where the traveling linemen stayed overnight. And they are no longer that. They're saying, I'm getting closer to my home. They're saving all the GL podcasts which happened during the 25 day cruise. And they're going to listen to them when they drive in mid May from Vancouver, Washington to Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
Kenny Olson
Fun.
Joe Soucheray
Why are you shaking your head, John?
John H. (John Haidt)
That's a lot of things to listen to if you're driving with a person.
Joe Soucheray
I don't think that's a long enough drive to get all the shows in.
John H. (John Haidt)
No way it is.
Joe Soucheray
You can't.
Kenny Olson
I would, I would hop up on. What is it, Highway 2. I would. I wouldn't take the freeway.
Joe Soucheray
Kenny, you're talking to world class adventures. I'm sure they know how to get back.
Kenny Olson
You know what? You're right.
John H. (John Haidt)
Would you have yelling in that car? Would your wife be yelling at you or vice versa?
Joe Soucheray
That's the weird thing about these two. They. They must like each other.
John H. (John Haidt)
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
To do all this.
Kenny Olson
But she knows how to shut him up though.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah.
Kenny Olson
All she does is put her hand on his forearm. He stops talking.
Joe Soucheray
Worldwide waftage.com it's only because they come to us on this occasion all the way from Honolulu.
Kenny Olson
Joe needs that for me.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah. I wish you were sitting right here
Chris Reivers
on this day, April 30th.
Joe Soucheray
Well, on this day in 1803, the Louisiana Purchase was signed, transferring to the United States territory that includes present day Minnesota west of the Mississippi River River. On this day, April 30th in 1853, troops from the US 6th infantry began constructing Fort Ridgely, having arrived from Fort Snelling on this steamer, West Newton the previous evening. The fort was built near the Dakota Reservation in the Minnesota River Valley and was a focal point during the US Dakota War of 1862. Secretary of War Jefferson Davis named the first for three Ridgeleys who were killed in the Mexican War. Did you Know that?
Kenny Olson
I had no idea.
Chris Reivers
Did not.
Joe Soucheray
On this day, April 30th, in 1901, Charles Joy made the first automobile ascent of St. Paul Selby Hill at a speed of eight to ten miles an hour, or driving the average speed, as most St. Paul motorists do today. Joy, Charles Joy. You know, there was a longtime auto dealer in that neck of the woods called George Brothers. It had to be him. Had to be his people. On this day, sports related, who'd we
Chris Reivers
lose to on April 30th?
Joe Soucheray
No, no. What's today? April 30th, on this day in 1961, in his first home run for the Twins, Harmon Killebrew hit the ball 467ft.
Kenny Olson
Wow.
Joe Soucheray
Wow.
Chris Reivers
At the Met.
Joe Soucheray
Yes. Well, it doesn't say. They might have been on the road. I don't know. You don't know that on this day,
Chris Reivers
Joe, today is April 30th.
Joe Soucheray
In 1967, nine tornadoes struck southern Minnesota, particularly the towns of Waseca, Owatonna and Albert Lee. Thirteen people died.
Chris Reivers
I remember hearing about that. I think there's a sign in Waseca, if I'm not mistaken, near the high school sighting that tornado.
Joe Soucheray
On this day in Minnesota, sports disappointment hit.
Chris Reivers
Now, who would we lose to on NFC?
Joe Soucheray
Well, again, on this day, April 30th, in 1985, the North Stars lost again to the Blackhawks 4 to 2 in the division finals, four games to two on this day, April 30th. This is ridiculous. On this day in 1992, the North Stars lost to the Red Wings in the division semifinals, four games of three.
Chris Reivers
We did a lot of that, didn't we?
Joe Soucheray
Man alive. And again on this day, April 30th, in 2001, the Wolves lost to the spurs in the first round of the playoffs, three games to now. Tonight, both the hockey team and the basketball team having a chance to advance to the second round.
Chris Reivers
Who do you think is going to try to go to both games in person?
Kenny Olson
Judd.
Joe Soucheray
That guy. Who's that window peeper guy?
Chris Reivers
Isn't he in jail?
Joe Soucheray
Well, they let him out. He likes to go in person just for the games. Gotcha. Thank you, jailers.
John H. (John Haidt)
The Twins were home that day, by the way. Okay, they lost to the White Sox in 11 innings, 5 to 3. And Harmon was 4 for 5 with a homer and a double. Wow.
Joe Soucheray
He could hit the bashful basher from Power Alley.
John H. (John Haidt)
And believe it or not, the Twins pitcher went 10 and 2/3 innings.
Joe Soucheray
I believe it.
John H. (John Haidt)
That'll never happen today.
Joe Soucheray
Who was the kid that pitched yesterday? Taj Bradley, Taj, boy, they were all agog that he pitched seven innings. Wow.
Chris Reivers
And then the bullpen came in.
Joe Soucheray
And then the bullpen came in. Thank you. Glass, do us a favor if you
Chris Reivers

And he will always give you the straight talk. He will never give you the sugar coated advice. And he is on the line with us once again right here in garagelogic. Josh, a question for you because you and I have had conversations over the years and I've always wondered what would you give advice to, whether it's a first time investor, a long term investor, what are some of the general principles that you try to apply in terms of investing?
Josh Arnold
The easiest answer, Chris, Growth will out. Growth will out. Invest for growth. Most people would say, josh, if you buy growth, aren't you paying up growing companies? Well, you might be and then again, you might not be. Because the next question is, well, isn't buying value oriented companies, companies with the lowest price to earnings multiples, the lowest price to sales multiple, isn't that a better strategy than going just for growth? Well, the idea is that growth will out. And that has been proven to me and proven to other investors time and time again over long periods of time. Growth will out. Now, there are a lot of companies that Will say in their infancy or when they're. There's just an idea out there that those companies that are involved in the fastest growing industry and there become more and more of them tend to skyrocket very quickly in value. And then it is found over a period of time that they're not earning money, that their sales are, aren't growing, their sales aren't growing, something has stalled out. And these stocks which have been, we'll say rocket ships, crater and fall to earth and the winners sometimes out of that group are those that have had the staying power and really do have growth, do have an idea. You have products or services that are in demand and they starts eventually moving ahead. There of course are those companies that are very steady growers that have again products and services that people want, people need at some point. Yes, these companies do have a mature industry or mature in terms of their growth and the growth slows. These companies then pay out dividends at a higher rates or end up buying back shares, another form of paying investors for, for them. If I look at an old, and I say an old growth company like Coca Cola, which I have talked about for many years, a very slow old growth company, it doesn't grow at 10 or 12 or 20%, but it's a very steady mid single digits grower and they do grow their dividend every, every year and they do buy back some shares and they have a product or actually several products that people can't be without, water for one and say milk, juice, coffee, tea, Coca Cola as an example. So sells over 200 products in over 200 countries around, around the world. Very, very steady company. Is it going to go to the moon? No. Is it going to provide a level of safety? Oh yes, and it's going to provide a very nice dividend yield that's going to grow over time. I'll say one of the best investors long term.
Joe Soucheray
Long term.
Josh Arnold
Warren Buffett has included Coca Cola in his portfolio of Berkshire Hathaway for decades at the price that he originally bought, bought it and added to the shares yet have gone up. But what has increased even more is the dividend. The dividends that are paid out and the dividends that are paid out relative to his cost basis give Berkshire Hathaway and Warren Buffett a dividend yield, we'll say in excess of 15%. But again that's over a long period of time and Coke is just an old aid company. On the other hand, a company that started growing fast, faded, came up with new products, saw the growth accelerate and Then would fade, then come back with newer products and now just is now say is one of the largest companies in the world and they provide a product and service that people really can't be without. That is Apple. Apple now has 2.4 billion iOS users and at least one and a half billion an iPhone user. And if I look at most people are going to be replacing their phone every four to five years and when they replace the phone they're going to need more memory, need more storage and they'll probably get more services from from App is no longer growing at 20 or 25% growing at a single digit rate. But Apple does buy back shares and does increase their dividend as a product or service that people can count on and generates tremendous amount of cash flow. I'll say so much cash flow and so much cash that the countries in which Apple operates, the governments all want a piece of Apple's, Apple's business business and they attempt to go after Apple as a monopoly. That said, Apple is a very very steady growth company and even with all the fluctuations and worries that say analysts have over the next iteration of the iPhone, this company could well continue to to perform on a very very long, long term basis. That's an example. Both Coke and Apple are examples of first faster growing companies and then companies that become steady growers. And those are types of companies that for longer term investors you should look look at growth will out. That's is I'll say the biggest bit of advice Chris that I could give any, any investor. The other piece is always keep cash available because inevitably in any given year a market is going to pull back 5 to 10% 3 to 4 times during the course of the year. And having cash available to add to positions is beneficial now in putting together any portfolios for myself or my clients. And my money is in the exact same spots that my clients money is in, go in together and out together on new purchases. My focus always has been companies around the Internet, companies involved in leisure, China related business businesses without necessarily being in China because that's still faster growing part of the world real assets such as real estate and to keep a portion of money available for short term trading or for opportunities and by we'll say concentrating in the portfolio concentrate or focusing the portfolios in those areas. I have found better opportunities for growth than in other sectors of the marketplace.
Chris Reivers
And that's why we come to you for the straight talk and never ever sugarcoat advice. Mr. MoneyTalk. You heard him G ers now is the time for you to pick up the phone and make the call for that free 48 minute financial consultation again with zero obligation. And you do that just like I did by dialing 959-255608, where you always get straight talk and never ever sugarcoated advice. Josh, once again, thank you so much for the time and the chat. Enjoy the rest of your day. We'll talk to you again tomorrow.
Josh Arnold
Thank you very much.

Episode: “It’s the battle of the True MN state flag vs the Fraud MN state flag”
Host: Joe Soucheray
Panelists: Chris Reivers, Kenny Olson, John Haidt, Rookie, Josh Arnold
This episode centers on the ongoing controversy over the newly redesigned Minnesota state flag, which the Garage Logic crew brands the “fraud flag,” in contrast to the “true” or historical state flag. The hosts read listener reports of local governments sticking with the old flag, discuss broader culture war issues regarding public input and government overreach, and veer into conversations about soft-on-crime policies, theft justification on the political left, and the ever-present question of what constitutes "racism" in modern America. The tone is sardonic, commonsense-minded, and occasionally exasperated.

This episode serves as a microcosm of Garage Logic’s ethos: skeptical of government, fiercely loyal to local identity and tradition, and outspokenly critical of perceived excesses of political correctness and progressive overreach. At its heart is a sincere affection for the unheralded people of Minnesota, and for old-fashioned notions of common sense, transparency, and robust public involvement.
While much of the content is lighthearted or delivered with self-aware exasperation, the core message is clear: Garage Logic has appointed itself guardian of “the true flag,” the voice of local pride, and the champion of citizen-driven democracy.
Key Quote:
“The absence of proper due regard for thorough public input was a slap in the face to every citizen regardless of their approval of the designs. It was the way this was done, the two most important symbols of the state, that everyone should take issue with.”
— Mayor Nate George of Bram (08:30)
Garage Logic’s rallying cry:
“Let’s call it the fraud flag ... and the true flag.” (16:44–17:00)
