Josh Arnold, investment consultant, brings you garage lodging podcast number 1754 here. 1754, April 9, 2026, 81 degrees. The record high on this day. That was in 1930 and it was as chilly as 15 degrees on this day in 1997. Minnetonka went out on this day in 1894-1938-1967-2005 and 2006. White Bear went out on this day in 1966. Hail you.

And now from the mayor's office above the boathouse on the east shore of Spoon La Garage Logic with Chris Reavers manning Technology corner, Kenny Olson from the Krabby Coffee Shop, John Height in the newsroom and of course the rookie here is your Flashlight King, fireworks commissioner and the keeper of common sense, your mayor, Joe Susherer. The missing NASA scientist, now up to nine, is stirring a bit of conversation among glers. Bob Wonders. Mayor, maybe the scientists who have gone missing are the visiting aliens. They have either finished their work here or have said the hell with it and gone home. Another fellow writes, maybe the Catholics got rid of them because they would have interfered with God. Speaking of the Catholics. Well, and Krista from Maryland. I was worried about her. We hadn't heard from her, and she weighed in today, and she writes. Additionally, one of you, Kenny, I believe, posed the question to Joe, if you were the guy in the room getting the info on the aliens, what would be told to you to keep you from telling? Here's my assessment. One by one, each of our modern presidents has made it to that room. The chamber of all secrets, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. While there, they're told that the reason they can't tell anyone about the aliens is that the aliens have all been the presidents. In order to further their cause, steal our minerals, water, or whatever the hell else they want on earth, they decided 100 years ago to, by any means possible, make sure an alien becomes President of the United States. That way, they won't want to spill the beans. These egotistical maniacs wouldn't want that getting out. And it would certainly explain the behavior of the idiot who's in there now. It may even be the reason for your trouble in Minnesota. Aliens among us. And finally, when we get the word that it's time to smoke the cigs and head to the bar, please take five minutes and call me. My bucket list, which I've discussed with my husband, actually contains a trip to Minnesota to meet you guys. Unfortunately, if the world's going to hell in a handbasket, tickets to Minnesota will likely be way too expensive to purchase, not to mention gas prices will immediately skyrocket. So before you all get smoked up and drunked up, call me. Just once. I'd like to talk to you guys before we all perish. Keep pushing back, Krista in Maryland. I'll call you Krista. May I?
Joe Sucere
May I?
Chris Reavers
Yes.
Joe Sucere
Krista. I. I can't imagine anything more disappointing than meeting us. Seriously, use your vacation money for good.
Chris Reavers
That really is kind of.
Joe Sucere
You will be so disappointed after meeting us. Seriously, how about this one?
Chris Reavers
Do you know that that Trump is actually threatened the Pope?
John Haidt
You can't threaten Leo. You cannot threaten Leo.
Chris Reavers
Well, not really.
John Haidt
From Chicago.
Joe Sucere
Not really gonna start throwing hands. I see the Pope taking them easy.
Chris Reavers
Oh, I do too. And I'd put a Swiss Guard up against Kegsbreadth any day. A Hagseth.
Joe Sucere
So is that gonna be the undercard?
Chris Reavers
Yeah, the undercard could be Kegsbreadth versus one of the Swiss Guard. I put the Swiss Guard up against anyone. That'd be closed. Closed circuit. Pete Kegsbreath. I heard that somewhere.
Joe Sucere
That's funny.
Chris Reavers
It is, right? But do you know this now? I don't know if it's. Words mean something. Did Trump really threaten the Pope? No. What he did is he said the Pope better get on our side. Something to the. I'm paraphrasing. Okay, Leave the. The Pope's not a part of this deal.
John Haidt
He's Switzerland.
Joe Sucere
He's.
John Haidt
He's independent.
Chris Reavers
The Pope's not part of this deal.
Joe Sucere
I think they learned their lesson with World War II. They're probably gonna wash their hands of this.
Chris Reavers
Do you know that there was a meeting brought up of the Avignon papacy, a period in the 14th century in which the French monarchy bent the Catholic Church into submission, ordering an attack on Pope Boniface viii that led to the downfall. That led to his downfall and subsequent death.
Joe Sucere
And the Knights Templar, too, right?
Chris Reavers
I don't know anything about the Templars.
Joe Sucere
Yeah, yeah. It. The French guy couldn't pay back a loan that he had taken from the Templars, and his way of dealing with it was to put them all to death. We saw the history with Kenny.
John Haidt
What's the Dan one about? The.
Joe Sucere
Yeah, that one.
John Haidt
Dan Brown, Knights Templar.
Chris Reavers
He just said the knights.
John Haidt
No, no, it's the book. There was a series. There were two of them. Da Vinci Code.
Chris Reavers
Yeah. One of the worst books.
John Haidt
Come on. Come on.
Joe Sucere
Very pedestrian.
Chris Reavers
Oh, it's horrible.
Joe Sucere
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
They did a great idea. Great idea. Poorly executed.
Joe Sucere
That book was so sixth graders could keep up.
Chris Reavers
Oh, my.
Joe Sucere
That's what that book was.
John Haidt
Thank you.

Joe Sucere

John Haidt

Josh Arnold
Hold on. I gotcha out.
John Haidt
It's time to jam with the mayor of Gl with another Author's Corner.
Chris Reavers
Jack Car.
John Haidt
It's time for Author's Corner now.
Chris Reavers
Here's Joe suing us tomorrow. What? Yep. Okay. I. I'm making an exception, too, because I've never had an author on prior to reading the book, but he's. He's advancing a new book, but it doesn't come out till maybe. But there is a book that he's written that we haven't talked to him about. It was a book between the James Reese novels and this one coming out in May. It was called Cry Havoc. I thought it was wonderful. It was the story of James Reese's father in the Vietnam situation, and it was splendid. If you haven't read that, we'll talk about that. But the other reason it's going to be very timely to have Jack Carr on tomorrow is that what's happening now in the Middle east is right up his. That's his bailiwick. That's his deal there, you know, the rescued pilot. So I'm looking forward to that.
John Haidt
We didn't do much on the rescued pilot. Hey, ladies and gentlemen of garagelogic, it's time to gear up for Sushiray's Author's Corner. Oh yes, it sounds like a nice switch on a manual.
Chris Reavers
It's wonderful. You'll recall that Tom Lyman, our correspondent in Tasmania. Boy, there's a lot of coincidences happening today. For example, I was wondering this morning about Krista. And then today there was a nice note from Krista. And then when I got to the station today and my computer offers me a screensaver that changes every day.
John Haidt
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
And today it was these painted cliffs in Tasmania. Oh, isn't that interesting?
John Haidt
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
And then also a third coincidence number three. Our fellow in Tasmania, Tom Lyman wrote to us last week about the threat to all of the underground undersea cables in the world and how you don't really even need big cannons anymore. All you gotta do is get a ship that drag its anchor over a cable and you've lost your ability to go on the Internet. Well, right here, right here. How about this for a coincidence. Page A7 of today's Wall Street Journal. Countries race to prevent underwater cable damage. Okay, get you choked up. You're holding that up. You can't really see it. But it's a map of all the underground, all the undersea cables. And I just thought, wasn't that a coincidence?
John Haidt
For real?
Chris Reavers
Who puts these cables down cable layers?
John Haidt
Who can lay the cable?
Chris Reavers
That's right.
Joe Sucere
Is it a colored map? Because I am on submarine cablemap.com the
Chris Reavers
ocean's blue, but everything else is black and white.
Joe Sucere
It is astounding.
Chris Reavers
Oh my God. The entire globe, the ocean floor is covered in cables.
Joe Sucere
Every single ocean.
John Haidt
Know that every time you see the ocean for just sand, well, they're everywhere.
Chris Reavers
Can I tell you something?
John Haidt
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
It's not when you're down on Maggot island or wherever the hell. Where are you going, Marco? Maggot island, you know, that's where the lake is. When you're walking on the beach you're not going to see a cable.
John Haidt
No, I mean when you are watching things on Instagram and Twitter and they go deep ocean, it's just a bunch of sand on the bottom.
Chris Reavers
A lot of times occasional boat, shipwreck, A lot of times the sand covers the cables, I guess.
Josh Arnold
But Matthew Kenny nailed it. Matthew's picturing Bikini Bottom on spongebob.
John Haidt
Yeah, let's go. Where's the pineapple? Under the sea.
Chris Reavers
So there's. Everybody's worried about it. It's in the news.
Joe Sucere
What was the gist of the story? Are they worried about terrorism? Is that what they're saying?
Chris Reavers
From the Baltic Sea to the Pacific Ocean, a scramble is underway to protect submarine cables. I just think that means sub. I don't think that has anything to do with submarines.
Joe Sucere
No, it's just what they call it.
Chris Reavers
Yeah. From the Baltic Sea to the Pacific Ocean, a scramble is underway to protect submarine cables vulnerable to potential sabotage. Governments, militaries, cable owners and tech startups are moving to bolster the defense of the world's underwater cable network, through which most international data traffic travels. In Northern Europe, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, that would be known as NATO is using ships and drones to ward off possible sabotage after a Russia linked vessel cut vital cables in 2024. In Asia, Taiwan is increasing Coast Guard patrols and penalties for damaging cables, hoping to det. Saboteurs. Private cable operators are looking at routes that avoid contested waters such as the South China Sea, where Chinese vessels have clashed with Philippine ships and pressed territorial claims. The efforts underscore the challenge. There is no foolproof way to defend submarine cables. And as Lyman's piece last week noted, from some investment group he follows. All it takes is a ship that's bent on nefarious activity and they just let their cable drag over the. They let their anchor drag over the cable.
John Haidt
I wonder why they haven't figured that out yet.
Chris Reavers
They have figured it out.
Joe Sucere
I'm going to give you a perfect segue opportunity here by telling you there are a ton of cables that run through the Strait of Hormuz.
John Haidt
What.
Chris Reavers
What do you want me to segue to?
Josh Arnold
Well, I was gonna say this. This is also being practiced with China with data centers.
Chris Reavers
Boys, it's. It's happening everywhere there's an ocean. Why this website's irritating.
Progressive Insurance Announcer
Well, that's.
Josh Arnold
That's.
Chris Reavers
What did Kenny want us to do?
Joe Sucere
I have to get off this website. It's blowing my computer up.
Josh Arnold
Because everyone's worried about the heat generated by data centers. So China just said, bleep it. We're gonna put it underwater.
Joe Sucere
The data center.
Chris Reavers
You can't put a data center underwater.
Josh Arnold
China has launched the world's first commercial underwater data center off the coast of. Is it Hanoi?
Joe Sucere
Interesting. But again, argue with them.
Chris Reavers
A ceasefire didn't make it three hours.
Joe Sucere
Didn't make it even a few minutes.
Josh Arnold
Lunch break. Was it a lunch break.
Chris Reavers
It was not even that.
Joe Sucere
If I remember right, what Glenn was saying is we're not. The A team is gone. In speaking of Iran leadership, the A team is gone. The B team is gone. C team is gone. We're now dealing with the D team.
Chris Reavers
I understand that.
Joe Sucere
How much power does the D team actually have?
Chris Reavers
No. Better question is, are they just as nuts as the A team?
Joe Sucere
Yeah. That's one of the things Bill brings up. Yeah. And that this is part of.
Chris Reavers
What the hell is this?
Josh Arnold
You're the A team.
Chris Reavers
I no drag no cable across the straight of hill. Hormone. Bill Glahn came up today. He's a center of the American experiment stalwart. He came up today in a Fox News piece. And we learned that yet another member of a family within Minnesota's Somali community is expected to plead guilty today in the massive fraud scandal that has drawn national attention and prompted criticism of Attorney General Keith Ellison over a meeting held with members of that family in question. Gandhi Mohammed, 45, is expected to either plead guilty at a charge at a change of plea hearing scheduled for today or choose to enter a plea of no contest, which would allow him to accept conviction and be sentenced without admitting guilt. Mohammed is the sixth member of his family who would be pleading guilty in the scheme prosecutors say fraudulently claimed to be serving meals while instead pocketed 14 million from the federal Child Nutrition Program. Center of the American Experiment policy fellow Bill Glahn told Fox News that it's good that he and his co conspirators have all been convicted in the case. However, a courtroom trial would have been a useful exercise to show the public the scope and scale of the fraud.
John Haidt
Okay.
Chris Reavers
They are escaping a lot of courtroom drama, aren't they?
John Haidt
Yeah, they are.
Chris Reavers
I don't think we. I think I should stay with this. The Mohammed family was president that now, as present, was present at the now infamous 2021 meeting between Ellison and members of the Somali community where would be fraudsters could be heard asking Ellison to help them secure more funding before the conversation turned to campaign donations. The only way that we can protect what we have is by inserting ourselves into the political arena, putting our votes where it needs to be, but most importantly, putting our dollars in the right place and supporting candidates who will fight to protect our interests, one of the Somali community members says on the recording of that meeting. And Ellison said, that's right. Ellison has denied wrongdoing, of course, but he was right there and he knew damn well what was going on. Our attorney General Keith Ellison is not only looking the other way. But doing so after taking donations from these very fraudsters. Republican Dahlia L. Aqidi, who was running for Congress against Omar, said this is a betrayal of every Minnesotan who trusted him with that office. We've had her on the air.
News Reporter
Yes.
Chris Reavers
Maybe we should again. Maybe she has a chance to beat Ilhan. Do you think?
John Haidt
Let's hope.
Chris Reavers
I don't know.
Josh Arnold
In that district. No chance.
Chris Reavers
I think pretty solid right now. What Bill is. Bill is suggesting is let's have some trials where we can really get to the bottom of a lot of stuff, you know.
John Haidt
But the problem is we don't have courtroom. We don't have videos in the courtroom.
Chris Reavers
That's okay. It would come out in testimony. And I just want to once again extend my concern for Chief Brian o'. Hara. I don't like his future here. I don't like the prospects for him having a future here. I'm sure he'll land on his feet, but he's getting no help from the mayor and he's facing a city council that is predisposed to be against law enforcement. And I'm sure they can find something to complain about. And I don't know if he's going to make it. I don't know if he'll get another contract or not.
Joe Sucere
They're going to have to find a puppet who has no police experience to do that job. Because I see anybody that takes that job is going to be in this position.
Chris Reavers
You're right.
Joe Sucere
No win.
Chris Reavers
You're right. It's a no win situation so long as you have these socialists running the city council in Minneapolis. It's a very sad situation. And not only is Kenny right, it's going to be worse than a puppet, it's going to be an inexperienced puppet. You know, there's puppets that might be useful, but there's not a fighting chance in hell that anyone would pass the muster of these professional activists except someone on their team, someone with Marxist socialist leanings who agrees with them that law enforcement is merely an affectation of the flawed founding of the country.
Joe Sucere
I wonder if there is one, a police chief in this country that's a socialist.
Chris Reavers
That leads me to a deep thought I've had and I'll get to you. I'll get to it in. In just a moment. I was mentioning the center of the American experiment. We've got a lot of problem with education producing effective results. In Minnesota, for example, do those kids. Do the kids in our schools even take civics courses? Do they know anything about the constit Serious question. There's a chance to do something about it this coming Tuesday, join the American Experiment at the School Choice Rally. They'll be gathering from noon to 1 o' clock at Cass Gilbert Memorial park, just northeast of the Capitol. And that's the same day before a major school choice hearing in the Minnesota House. It's free. It's peaceful. It's about giving parents educational freedom. It's sponsored by the center of the American Experiment and Opportunity for All Kids. The future of Minnesota Kids is worth an hour of your time. You can get much more information@americanexperiment.org.

law My name is Mackenzie and I started a GoFundMe for the adoptive mother of a nonverbal autistic child. The mother had lost her job because she wasn't able to find adequate care for this autistic child, so she really needed some help with living expenses, paying some back bills. So I launched a GoFundMe to help support them during this crisis and we raised about $10,000 within just a couple of months. I think that the surprising thing was by telling a clear story and just like really being very clear about what we needed, we had some really generous donations from people who were really moved by the situation that this family was struggling with.

Customroasting.net what is the source of ideological power in America? What is the root source of the success of this country which I think is in play? I think the success of the country is in play. But what traditionally has been the source?
Josh Arnold
Money?
Chris Reavers
No.
John Haidt
Constitution.
Chris Reavers
Well, you're on the right track.
John Haidt
Bill of Rights.
Chris Reavers
People. The people. And I wish I could raise the consciousness level of people. I'll just stay in Minnesota before I go national. I wish I could raise the consciousness level of the citizens of Minnesota to understand how thoroughly things have gotten out of hand and I'm not successful at it. I'm not talented enough. I'm not smart enough. Whatever it is, I can't do it. I don't sense consciousness levels being raised among the citizens of Minnesota. The preamble of the Constitution reads, we the people of the United States. It doesn't say we the government doesn't say we the political party, we the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. This was the work of the people. They placed their trust in the founders, who then went into a hotel room and hashed it out and it met with the agreement of the people. It wasn't the government that was the source of your freedom. It's not the government that's the source of your pursuit of, of happiness. Those are inalienable rights, which was the genius of the founding of the country. These rights are God given. They have nothing to do with a legislator granting you something. It's the people who had the. And I think we're in a time period where we're seeing that turned on its head. I think that too much of our. There's too much government. And the more the government, the smaller we the people have become, the smaller we have become. And it's terribly evident in this state what was the most recent trial balloon was a wealth tax, for example. It's a never ending attempt. Government has entered a dynamic where they are engaged in a never ending attempt to make the citizen smaller. And I don't care who's in office. This is true across party lines. This is true of the Democrats on the third rail. This is true of the Republicans on the third rail. It's gotten away from the people. Somehow people have allowed themselves to be so misguided that they thought Trump might have represented that. That foundational insistence that the people are the source of our greatness. I defy anyone to demonstrate to me how he has corroborated that. Nor would Kamala Harris have corroborated that or Joe Biden or anyone. I don't care what party it is. The United States right now is in a very difficult time. The state of Minnesota right now is in a very difficult time. And there's no greater wish that I have than to raise the consciousness level of people to understand that. And I can't do it. We have not made. I haven't made any headway into that. It's just my sense that it's not happening. People. The United States is still so bountiful that people are carrying on with their lives and they pay little attention to what is happening. I'm shocked at what little attention the fraud in this state really gets when you just start shooting the breeze with your neighbor and you might discover they don't know anything about it or they've heard about it, but they don't really care. It's just. I can't. I can't get anywhere. I can't.
Joe Sucere
Do you think you'd feel. Do you think you'd feel better if you stop trying? It's not your job you're taking on. You're that guy pushing the rock up the mountain.

Joe Sucere
I think where I'm at, you know, I can't worry about everybody else. I've got my own deal. And that's. I know that kind of goes against the GL principle, but, you know, my motto is I'll help out where I can help out my fellow citizens.
Chris Reavers
If our consciousness was raised, a couple of things would happen. Better candidates would materialize and better candidates would get elected. True, but that's it. That's really what would happen. Yeah, that's what. That's what would happen. We, the people. I think that's been forgotten. Well, I'll give you another example

A Nashville public school allows Muslim students to leave class to pray in a reserved space on campus during the school day, offering the accommodation daily during Ramadan and once a month during the rest of the year. According to a report published Tuesday in the Nashville Banner. John Overton High School in South Nashville also supports Muslim students during Ramadan by offering food free classrooms during lunch for students who are fasting in the afternoon. Students who signed up received electronic hall passes allowing them to leave class for 15 minutes to pray in a reserved space on campus. More than 80 students signed up, according to the Banner, 10 teachers also volunteered to make their classrooms a food free space for Muslim students during the lunch hour during the month of Ramadan, when Muslims feast daily from dawn to dusk. The report noted that the school has worked to refine the prayer system after students and staff suggested to the administration several years ago that they provide daily time and space for prayer. Let me. Stop.
News Reporter
Stop.
Chris Reavers
I have nothing against a kid praying. I'm not concerned about how a Muslim follows the.
John Haidt
That's their religion. That's their.
Chris Reavers
Follows their prerogative follows their faith. What I am suggesting is that this is another example. I don't think it's necessarily unrelated to my concern about consciousness levels rising. This is another example, in my estimation of the west is just silently and compassionately committing suicide. It's just silently, compassionately. Compassionately. With a great deal of empathy. Just giving it all away. Just giving it all away.
News Reporter
Yep.
Chris Reavers
I defy you to provide me with another example of schools accommodating the daily religious needs or the monthly religious needs of any other faith.
John Haidt
It doesn't happen. Think of that. Think of the Jews. The Jews have had Hanukkah, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur. It's on the calendar, but there's no special treatment for them to.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, I don't know this one. I take note of this only because
Josh Arnold
I can help. Rookie and you.
Chris Reavers
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
Any parent that has a child in either elementary school or even, in some cases, middle school, look at your child's calendar for the school year and you notice exactly what you're talking about.
Chris Reavers
Okay, here. Let me put this into a better and more charitable context. I'm not suggesting that Muslims should not follow the edicts of Ramadan. I'm not saying that at all.
Josh Arnold
Of course not.
Chris Reavers
What I'm saying is what I mean when I say we are empathetically and quietly and kindly giving the west away. What would be preferable to. This is the school saying, young Abdul, I respect your need for prayer at this time. I'm sorry. You're in an American public school right now, and we don't.
John Haidt
You're in math class.
Chris Reavers
We don't mix the various religious followings with our algebra lesson today or make accommodations for you. You'll have to arrange that somehow with your family or you'll have to arrange that with your imam or your synagogue or your. Or your. What are those places called?
John Haidt
Temple.
Chris Reavers
No, the Muslim ones.
John Haidt
Oh, mosque.
Chris Reavers
Mosque. You'll have to erase that with your mosque. This is a school. We're here for this purpose. We're here to pursue history, civics, geography, English, whatever. That's what I mean by we're giving it away. We're no longer. We don't. I think there was a day when that would have been done. That was done.
Josh Arnold
And what would happen to that superintendent, teacher for suggesting that very thing? Because I agree with you completely.
Chris Reavers
Probably come under fire, suspension.
Josh Arnold
They would be penalized for that.
Chris Reavers
And an emboldened community with success would accuse that school of racism 100% or religious persecution or whatever. Neither of which would be the case if you were clinging to traditional Western values. And today we don't do that. For all I know, there are many schools in Minneapolis where it's the same thing. And I'm not. I don't mean to. I'm not picking on a certain ethnicity or. What I'm saying is we are surrendering anything that approximates American convention and tradition and we're replacing it with the postmodern thought. Well, this is just as good. No, it isn't. Otherwise we wouldn't be here today.
Josh Arnold
You're not picking on one, however it is.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, I guess I am picking on
Josh Arnold
one, but it is the one that we continue to bend over backwards for. And I don't think that's debatable.
Chris Reavers
I do understand it. It's an ideological force that has its origins and is driven by the failed academy, which has taught too many young people to be aggrieved about something. And basically what they're aggrieved about is they think this country was founding was flawed. I think everybody always knew that the country had flaws, but they were able to take the best parts of it and rally. And I think right now we don't take the best parts of the country and rally and say we're sorry for our sins. We say this has just been nothing but sinful. We're permanently aggrieved. The country's never been any good because of its flaws, which is a misnomer. That's not true at all. The country's been great. It's lifted more people out of poverty than any other country in the world. It was freer than any other country in the world. And it was formed by we the people. And it was working great. It was going along just great. It's not happening now. That's today's speech. See you later.
John Haidt
All right, then.
Joe Sucere
Are we talking. We're talking about areas close to the country's tallest buildings, obviously.
Chris Reavers
Yeah. Nashville's a big city.
Joe Sucere
You know something John brought up a year or two ago, you know, sometimes we spend a lot of focusing, a lot of time focusing on a few incidents when it's not the trend nationwide. You know what I'm saying? Remember? What was that, John? Do you remember that reference?
News Reporter
I don't remember it at all. No, sorry.
Joe Sucere
Know it was in reference to something in the news where we were hyper focused on one or two incidents.
News Reporter
Do we.
Chris Reavers
I would submit I. Go ahead, John. I'm sorry.
News Reporter
Do. Do we. We don't want any sort of religious thing then in a Public school.
Chris Reavers
Well, you don't have any.
News Reporter
Well, in Nashville it's actually, you can talk all you want about Christian Christianity. You can have prayer times for Christian.
Chris Reavers
After school?
News Reporter
No, during school. I just looked.
Chris Reavers
Yeah. What about Minneapolis?
News Reporter
I didn't look at Minneapolis. I just looked at Nashville. Because that's what we were talking about.
Joe Sucere
It's probably.
Chris Reavers
Well, I think. I think it's a lousy practice. I would go none.
News Reporter
No. Yeah, let's see. That's what I would say too.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, I agree.
Joe Sucere
Unless it's a Catholic school.
News Reporter
Yeah, if it's. Sure. If it's a religious school.
Chris Reavers
Well, that's what you're paying for.
News Reporter
Yeah, exactly.
Joe Sucere
Right, Exactly.
Chris Reavers
Did you want to take a time out?
Josh Arnold
I want to talk about. We are nuts.
Guest Analyst
Oh, great.
Josh Arnold
WeAreNutSMN.com look at that, Joe. That's the pick of yours truly.
Chris Reavers
I got them nuts at home.
Josh Arnold
The maple bourbon toffee almonds. I tell you what, you clear out a bowl of those or a jar of those, no problem. And you know what, we need to update that graphic by the way. But whatever. It doesn't matter what you are in the market for. Whether it's the toffee peanuts, the savory wasabi snack mix and even, oh my goodness gracious, one of the best revelations ever, the silo of the cherry trail mix. So think of your regular trail mix and then the dried cherries mixed in with that.
Chris Reavers
Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm.
Josh Arnold
That's some good eating right there. Also, the jumbo cashews are a huge hit and you can get them at any one of your fratelloni's hardware and garden stores locations, Mac's Hardware, Lunds and Barleys, Kowalski's Markets, Cub Foods, Coburn's has got we are Nuts. Matthew Schoonover is joining us today on GL to help celebrate positive Thursday, which of course is always brought to us by Schoon over body works and auto care. No matter how sour such is, it's always a positive Thursday. Hi Matthew, how are you?
Matthew Schoonover
Hello. I'm doing well, how are you?
Joe Sucere
I'm not too. Bad news on the street is I'm hearing around town that you have accepted a promotion in the Family business. Is that in fact true, Sue?
Matthew Schoonover
Yes, it is.
Chris Reavers
Great.
Joe Sucere
What do you want? Do you have anything to say about that? Do you want to brag it up a little bit?
Matthew Schoonover
Yeah, you know, I'm not a big fan of bragging. I'd rather underplay it, but no. My, My. My dad thought that it was time for me to take the reins over a little bit more, so he. He promoted me to general manager. So I'm now in charge of pretty much everything that goes on in, in and outside of the shop. Anything that is related to the work that we are doing. So I manage everything from when the vehicle gets in. I still communicate with the customers. So I am. I still have probably about 20 to 30 files that I handle at any given time. And then I also make sure that everything's running smooth in the shop.
Joe Sucere
Oh, that is fantastic. We love generational businesses. Speaking of that, not now. How many generations has it been? Did your great great grandpa started or your great. What generation are you, Matt?
Matthew Schoonover
I am the fourth generation.
Josh Arnold
Wow.
Matthew Schoonover
My great grandpa started it.
Joe Sucere
That is fantastic. How many years have you been in business there, Matthew?
Matthew Schoonover
We have been in business since 1938. So if my math is correct, I think we are at 80.
Joe Sucere
We don't do math on GL. Okay, I'm gonna, I'm gonna just take your word for it. We. We're not the best at math here at gl. So the world is changing. Do you have any goals with the company, business goals with the company moving forward? And do you see the business climate changing?
Matthew Schoonover
You know, I would say the biggest goal for the company moving forward is probably to not change a whole lot.
Joe Sucere
I like that.
Matthew Schoonover
I think that a lot of times, you know, it's always about, hey, what are you going to do different? What are you going to do here or there? And I think that if we stick to what we are doing now, it is working. We have happy customers. We have fixed cars. We don't need to over complicate anything. So just to continue to get the word out that we are here for the customer. We are not here for anybody else. We just want to make sure that the vehicles are getting fixed properly and that everybody is happy. So I would say that our goal going forward is to just keep on doing what we're doing and try and fix as many people's car as we can and make them as happy as possible.
Joe Sucere
That's why we keep coming back. That is exactly. It's almost like I've coached you, but I did. That's exactly What I wanted to hear one more question. Last time we spoke, which I think is an over a year ago now, maybe just half year. I don't remember. I have no memory. Matthew, you also ran a lawn care business. Is that still in operation or did you sell out to a big global conglomerate?
Matthew Schoonover
No, that is still in operation. I actually this fall I met with some folks and, and I brought on a project manager and a sales manager. So I'm trying to grow that the best I can. But like, like we do here at the shop, I want to make sure that we are providing a quality service and not just worrying about the volume that we're doing. So we want to grow nice and slow and make sure that all of our existing customers are happy.
Joe Sucere
You've got a head on your shoulders, young man. Now comes the real test. Give me the phone number. How do I get in touch with Nikki there at Schoonover Body Works?
Matthew Schoonover
Phone number is 651-483-6756.
Joe Sucere
What's the address?
Matthew Schoonover
Address is 1060 County Road E West. And that is Inshore View. And the website, website is schoonover bodyworks.com.
Joe Sucere
okay, that was a test. You passed. I was just making you do all the, the, all the heavy lifting. 4 generation of schoonovers so far and hopefully more to come. We love family run businesses here at gl and that's one of the many reasons that Schoonover Body Works and Auto Care is the official shop of garagelogic. Thank you and good luck, Matthew. Thank you very much.
Matthew Schoonover
Thank you. Have a good day.
Chris Reavers
The EARTH IS NOT YOUR MOTHER. The Joe Suger Show. Maybe a different way of saying. What I was saying is that it almost seems now that due to the mystery, much of America is made to feel they need to apologize for Christianity. Put another way, in 1920, 1910, you know, the country isn't that old. There was probably an Easter break and a Christmas break in the schools even far back then. So you could make the reasonable argument that it was a nation founded under God, not founded under Allah or anyone else. And that is highly contested. Now the closer you get to the country's tallest buildings. That is highly contested. Maybe that's what I was seeing. Here is John Haidt in the newsroom.
News Reporter
I'm still reading about it. I don't want to do news. I'll do news. I'm just kidding. Let me. Yeah. This news is brought to you by North American Banking Company, A follow up to a story we had way, way back. Remember that 22 year old who's accused of enrolling as a student at White Bear Lake High School. Yes, he's now been officially hit with multiple charges relating to forging legal documents in order to attend classes. Court documents released yesterday alleged that Calvin Lubke used a fake identity to claim he was only 17 years old when he was actually 22. On Wednesday, Lube Key was charged with two counts of aggravated forgery and one count of forgery using false identification. According to investigators, Lube Key provided a fake birth certificate to school officials under the name Calvin Ciotti Perry Jr. A search warrant showed that police spoke with several girls who said they'd been in contact with Luebke. They were concerned about his advances. In most of the White Bear Lake cases, the girls rejected the advances. The girl said they saw a post from another teen on Instagram warning other girls to stay away from. Lubke is also accused of sending a sexual video of someone believed to be a minor to several girls in Farmington and Matamidi. During an interview with Lubke's father, law enforcement learned that Lubke was adopted from Liberia in 2009 at the age of six. He was primarily homeschooled during his early years before spending a short time at Forest Lake High School, where his father said he was expelled for bad behavior. Around that time, Lube Key began living with a husband and wife that were willing to take him into their home. During an interview with law enforcement, the husband told them he was unaware Lube Key was attending White Bear Lake High School. Luke later admitted to investigators he used his Liberian birth certificate to enroll and also stated that the couple he was living with had no knowledge of his enrollment.
Chris Reavers
I just read there's some kid on that Michigan and national basketball championship team is alleged to be 35.
John Haidt
What is that, the graduate student?
Chris Reavers
Something like that. He's about 30. Got a family and some kids.
Joe Sucere
Is that the basis of a number of movies?
News Reporter
Yeah, There was a couple. If you watched the beginning of the game, they introduced him. A couple starters who were graduate students already.
Chris Reavers
And the minute that tournament was over, 1,416 players went into the transfer portal.
News Reporter
Wow.
Chris Reavers
None of these teams will look the same next year.
Guest Analyst
Year?
Chris Reavers
Yeah, I disapprove.
John Haidt
Yaxel Lindenberg, a 69 forward and Alabama transfer, was a standout graduate student for the Wolverines.
Chris Reavers
How old is he? About 40.
John Haidt
Doesn't say. I'll keep looking.
Chris Reavers
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
So you just brought up a random guy.
John Haidt
No, this is the guy. He's the graduate school. I just don't know, I don't know
Joe Sucere
how old he is.
Josh Arnold
Okay.
Chris Reavers
Well.

Hennepin county sheriff Dewana Witt says she's seeking ways to tighten the budget. She says her office being millions over budget isn't all her fault. And she's pointing to the entity that approves her budget, the Hennepin county board, saying it's not fully funding her for the staff she's approved to have essentially putting her in the hole to start the year. Last month, the board of Commissioners unanimously approved $15.4 million to cover the Sheriff's Office 2025 budget shortfall. Sheriff Witt says most of that overage came from personal personnel costs after adding a surge of deputies following a push from the board to hire more. Going back to 2024, the sheriff faced shortage in the county jail. You remember this story. It prompted the transfer of more than 2,000 inmates to other jails and cost the county millions of dollars. Stressing her need at the time for more staff. Which says the board encouraged the hiring, even creating what she called a rapid response team focused entirely on hiring to increase speed and attention to bringing new staff on board. The sheriff's office said that increased jail staffing by nearly 50%. She said they were successful at becoming nearly fully staffed. But she said she wasn't provided the budget for that staff. Which said regarding concerns about her going over budget. I think they need to be more realistic about what the duties of the office of sheriff and the sheriff's offices

are if o' Hara leaves. And police candidates thinking of maybe pursuing that as their career if they understand why he leaves left. No one in their right mind would ever be a cop in St. Paul. In. In Minneapolis.
News Reporter
Minneapolis.
Chris Reavers
No one.
Josh Arnold
Well, they can't even get cops to enroll now.
Chris Reavers
Right.
Joe Sucere
I think maybe they could hire Hennepin county to patrol Minneapolis.
Chris Reavers
No green would oppose that. That one lady.
Joe Sucere
I believe Hennepin county is already helping out a great deal.
Chris Reavers
They are?
Joe Sucere
Yeah.
News Reporter
I seem to remember us talking about when o' Hara got hired. Why would anybody take this job right now at this particular time? So, Twin cities locksmith. We talked about this. Says the same tools he uses to help stranded drivers are now being misused by thieves to steal cars in seconds, sometimes from several feet away.
Chris Reavers
Wow.
News Reporter
Andre Damian is the owner of the key doctor locksmith service. He was holding a device that he said is a cloner slash key generator. And he says you can pretty much do anything you want with that key. You can take your keys to get in here. It'll read it, it'll clone it right off the phone. He said it takes about 30 seconds.
Chris Reavers
Hey, can they make you a new fob? Because we only have one fob for one of our cars.
John Haidt
Sure they can for the.
Chris Reavers
Right. Another fob.
Josh Arnold
Kenny. It's all about him.
Chris Reavers
That's it to me. I don't care about.
Joe Sucere
I'm gonna be honest. I was about to ask the same thing.
Guest Analyst
Okay, so.
Chris Reavers
So she got her fob ripped off when she got mugged.

Can't you. You can buy a fob, right?
Chris Reavers
That's a. I don't care about her. I need another fob.
News Reporter
You can buy hers. It's.
Chris Reavers
No, no, that's the point, John. They're ridiculously expensive at the dealer. Can you call this locksmith Harry to come out and go bing bang boom and you got a new fob?
News Reporter
I have seen fobs at department or not department stores, at hardware stores, hours that you can buy. I don't know how you program.
Chris Reavers
Then you gotta call lock Harry.
Joe Sucere
Are they the size of a grapefruit though? Big?
News Reporter
No, they're just like a normal.
Chris Reavers
I need a fob.
News Reporter
Huh?
Chris Reavers
I need a new fob. I gotta get a fob.
John Haidt
Anyway.
News Reporter
This guy says they're easy to duplicate.
Chris Reavers
Oh, good. I need one.
Joe Sucere
I only have one key for my truck.
Chris Reavers
I sort of. She.
Joe Sucere
I lost it one time and I didn't realize it till I went out to the truck to go deer hunting in the morning.
Chris Reavers
Morning.
Joe Sucere
I spent the next hour in the dark looking for my key. Finally found it buried in gravel on the driveway.
Chris Reavers
Think how many deer's lives were saved. Yeah, he lost his father. That.
Joe Sucere
You don't know. Stress, you know, you want to get out there an hour and a half beforehand. So I'm walking out there when it's getting light. My God. Only deer hunters will understand that.
News Reporter
I'll bet you were pretty pleasant for that hour and a half, weren't you?
Chris Reavers

Officials say the women's injuries are not life threatening. So that's good News.
Joe Sucere
It's the DNR's fault. They have no idea how to manage any of the waterfall or foul or animals in this state.
Chris Reavers
Well, shouldn't there be a roundup of turkeys? The urban environment is loaded with turkeys.
Joe Sucere
They set up hunting seasons like turkeys are the rarest bird on the planet. Seriously. They need to just open it up and let us go. I'd use no idea.
John Haidt
What about geese?
Chris Reavers
A geese.
John Haidt
I'm not ruining everything every park.
Joe Sucere
Here's my answer to that. Spring goose hunting. They do it in North Dakota for snow geese. They should do it in Minnesota for Canadians.
John Haidt
Amen.
News Reporter
Why don't we take a quick break here and hear from Mr. Olson?
Joe Sucere
Sure. Get me all wound up and then throw it.

John Haidt
Yep.
News Reporter
The tentative ceasefire in the Iran war is in danger of falling apart under the weight of Israel's bombardment of Beirut, Tehran's continued choke hold on the Strait of Hormuz and uncertainty over whether the planned peace talks can find common ground. Iran and the US with boch which both declared victory after the cease fire announcement appeared to apply pressure. Semi official news agencies in Iran suggested forces have mined the Strait of Hormuz, the waterway for oil that Tehran had closed because of Israel's bombardment of Beirut. President Trump, meanwhile, warned that U.S. forces will hit Iran harder than it did before if it doesn't fulfill its part of the agreement. And there was disagreement over whether the ceasefire includes a pause in fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. Israel on Wednesday pounding Beirut with airstrikes, resulting in the deadliest day in Lebanon since the war began. Questions also remained over what will happen to Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium at the heart of tensions, how and when normal traffic would resume through the Strait, and what happens to Iran's ability to launch future missile attacks and support armed proxies in the region. Israel had said the agreement does not extend to its war with the Iran backed Hezbollah, although Iran and mediator Pakistan, who put together the ceasefire agreement, said it does.

sex game after Pentagon officials appeared to threaten the leader of the Catholic Church for speaking out against President Trump's foreign policy. Leo xiv, the first American Pope in history, strongly condemning U. S actions. You'll remember in Iran, though not by name, in his Easter message saying God does not listen to world leaders, leaders who wage war. In response, under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby summoned Cardinal Christoph Christophe Pierre, the Vatican ambassador to the US To a meeting. In diplomatic parlance, an ambassador being summoned to meet with government officials for a lecture is the first stage of disciplinary action that could lead to a breakoff of diplomatic ties. Sources say Colby told Pierre, the United States has the military power to do whatever it wants in the world, and the Catholic Church had better take its side. Then allegedly, someone in the meeting brought up. What you talking about, Joe? The Avenon papacy. To Pierre. That refers to a 14th century attack on the Vatican by the French king in which Pope Boniface VIII was murdered by assassins and the Vatican was forced to relocate to Avenon, where it could be controlled by the French crown for the next 67 years. Vatican didn't like any of this, apparently, and it canceled Pope Leo's visit to the US for the 4th of July on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. He will now spend the fourth visiting a tiny island off the coast of Tunisia that has become a waypoint for thousands of migrants attempting to sail from North Africa to Italy. Highlighting in not so subtle terms his support for humanitarian treatment of migrants.
Chris Reavers
I wonder if there is a war situation that the Pope would acknowledge is valid. I mean, World War II would have been okay with that. I wonder. I don't know.
Joe Sucere
It's an interesting question. That whole King of Philip, I think it was the fourth of France. That old story with the Pope and the Templars is absolutely fascinating. It really is.
Chris Reavers
That's where you get your Good Friday. Not eating meat. Because they all had the. The brothers. It sold fish.
Joe Sucere
The Templars were basically the world's first bankers and they would loan money and they had had. Basically it's kind of an ATM situation where you could get money if you were in a different. It's a long story, but that king owed the Templars and the Pope a lot of money and they decided, well, instead of. Hell with that, yeah, we're gonna get.
John Haidt
Let's make a deal.

Let's go to the map.

President Trump has championed the US Steel industry, promising to strengthen it and to impose stiff tariffs on foreign material metals, trying to shield manufacturers here from overseas competitors. But the White House has secured tens of millions of dollars worth of donated Ford steel for the President's 400 million dollar ballroom project, according to two people familiar with the plans. Arcelor Matal, a Luxembourg based firm that is the world's second largest steel maker, is providing steel for the structure of the Ballroom project. The steel. The steel was produced in Europe, where the bulk of Arcelor Mattel's Production is concentrated. The White House has not disclosed details of the donation, but the president had said last October he had been offered the donation of steel for the ballroom. The president's comments came just days before the White House made adjustments to its tariffs that would benefit ArcelorMittel by cutting in half the tariffs applied to exports of automotive steel from that company company's Canadian plant. Two days after the remarks, the White House issued a lengthy and legalistic proclamation with the provision that would benefit the company. The document made various adjustments to tariffs on trucks, buses and auto parts. Rex Heuermann, now 62 years old, is expected to be sentenced to. Sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in June on seven counts of murder. He also confessed to an eighth murder for which he was not charged. Lifelong Long island resident was arrested in 2023 after a 13 year investigation spurred by the discovery of human remains alongside a remote beach highway.
Chris Reavers
His wife said, I didn't know anything about it. No, she did.
John Haidt
I know she did. How do I. I mean, she had the thick Brooklyn accent, too, but this guy, he's got really bad hair, he
News Reporter
looks like a dork.
John Haidt
And he kept that secret forever.
Chris Reavers
Yeah. Yeah, that's right, Rick.
Joe Sucere
Yep.
News Reporter
Gotcha. A tiny mummified reptile that died in an Oklahoma cave about 289 million years ago has revealed the oldest example of a breathing system in Amazon. Amniotes. What are amniotes?
Chris Reavers
I don't know.
News Reporter
It's a group that includes all reptiles, birds, mammals, and their common ancestors among the first to conquer life on land. Scientists say this whole thing is giving them a look into how evolution proceeded.
Josh Arnold
Yeah, I. I don't want to take a left turn here, but I know exactly the disappointment that you just had about 45 seconds ago because you always get disappointed with a news story story. When they go to the man on the street.
Chris Reavers
Yeah.
Josh Arnold
And they pick the. The gal that gives a really bad ex. That's kind of the same reaction you had to Matthew.
Chris Reavers
He had no need to say anything.
Joe Sucere
It's 200 million years old.
Chris Reavers
Yeah.
News Reporter
I think your story ahead, Rook, of what they're talking about. I'm not sure.
John Haidt
Okay.
News Reporter
I like this story. This is a really long story. You guys might get bored.
Joe Sucere
This is what I was talking about.
Chris Reavers
Well, John, don't do it if it's bored. No, it's.
News Reporter
Oh, it's. It's not boring.
John Haidt
Going to like this one.
News Reporter
To me, it's fascinating. So you might like it too.
Chris Reavers
We'll see.
News Reporter
Yeah, we'll see. Try out Adam Jacobs has recorded more than 10,000 concerts with increasingly sophisticated equipment over four decades in Chicago and other cities, and now a group of devoted volunteers in the US And Europe is methodically cataloging, digitizing and uploading them one by one and putting them on the Internet. The growing Adam Jacobs Collection is an Internet treasure trove for music lovers, especially for fans of indie and punk rock during the 1980s through the early 2000s. The collection features early in their career performances from artists like R.E.M. the Cure, the Pixies, Nirvana, the Replacements, Depeche Mode, Stereo Lab, Sonic Youth and many more. There's also a smattering of hip hop, including a 1988 concert by rap pioneers Boogie Down Productions. Devotees of Fish were thrilled to discover a previously uncirculated 1990s show by that band, all of it slowly becoming available for streaming. Author Bob Mirror, who wrote about Jacobs in 2004 for the Chicago Reader, calls him one of the city's cultural institutions. Mirror says, he's a character I think you have to be to do what he does. After a local filmmaker made a documentary About Jacobs in 2023, a volunteer with the Internet Archive reached out to suggest his collection be preserved. Adams was all in favor of that, saying the tapes were starting to disintegrate, so it was time to do that. Once a month, Brian Emmerich makes a trip from the Chicago suburbs to Jacob's house to pick up 10 to 20 boxes, each stuffed with 50 to 100 tapes. Emick transfers all of those analog recordings to digital files that could be sent to other volunteers who mix and master the shows and then upload them them to the archive.
Chris Reavers
Just how long?
News Reporter
Just a little bit more, a little bit more. It's over. Jacob said the majority of the artists he recorded are pleased to have their work preserved. As for copyright concerns, he says he's happy to remove recordings if requested, but said only one or two musicians so far have asked that their material be taken down. The Replacements were so happy with Jacob's tape of a 1986 show, they mixed some of it in with a soundboard recording they had. They released it in 2023 as a live album as part of a box set produced by Mirror.
Chris Reavers
That's. That's probably enough.
News Reporter
Jacob stopped recording a few years ago.
Chris Reavers
Well, who's getting the money? I'd like to know.
Joe Sucere
Just let him finish.
Chris Reavers
Jesus joke.
News Reporter
Jacob stopped recording A few years ago as worsening health problems sapped his desire to go out and see concerts. But he says he still enjoys experiencing live music he finds online, much of it recorded by new generation of flan up fans. He says since everybody's got a cell phone, anybody can record a concert.
Joe Sucere
Okay, John, Joe asked the question.
Chris Reavers
Yeah.
Joe Sucere
Who's getting the money?
News Reporter
Well, I. I'm guessing nobody. Right.
Joe Sucere
Isn't he a pirate?
News Reporter
Yeah, but like, he's. He said he. The artists don't care. He's had one or two complaints.
Chris Reavers
You mentioned fish in there through the years.
News Reporter
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
Three things. One, they're from Vermont. Nobody's from Vermont. And two,
John Haidt
which is from Vermont.
Chris Reavers
There's two other things that I find fascinating about that band.
John Haidt
Come on.
Chris Reavers
One is I gave him a station on my car. Just for two reasons, you hippie. No, for two reasons. One, to see where they are because it is amazing. Well, they'll play anywhere they show up in.
Joe Sucere
You know, he would have never said, and I just lost respect.
Chris Reavers
But the second thing is they have to be the only band in the world where their followers have to be cheering for them not to sing because they really write. I think they. They're such. They're such.
John Haidt
You got Kenny now.
Chris Reavers
They can j. Jam so well and it sounds so neat that they hate listening to fish. I. I hate listen because sometimes they get in, sometimes they get into a 20 minute jam that is really, really good. Really good. But then they start singing. And I think they came to the point in their career where they thought, you know, we got to come up with some songs.
Matthew Schoonover
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
So they just make them up. Paper clips on the guys. Hey, paper clips. We got a box of paper clips.
Joe Sucere
One, two, three.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, we got them. We use it to put papers again.
Josh Arnold
Aren't they two tennis.
Chris Reavers
They jam for 40 minutes.
Josh Arnold
Two tennis shoes and a dryer.
Chris Reavers
No, they're very good.
News Reporter
They only have one drummer, don't they?
Chris Reavers
Yeah, they have one drummer and they're guitarist. They're phenomenal. They're fantastic. But you got to listen to them. That's horrible.
Joe Sucere
We used to use a band, a local band for bumper music called big backyard. And one morning on the air, I challenged them to write a song about kettle river. They had a gig that night. By that night, they had the song lyrics, music, everything, and it was really, really good.
Chris Reavers
I like paper clips. How about you?
News Reporter
Yeah, I think you're right, Joe. I think the vocals are just an excuse to get to the next song.
Chris Reavers
Yes. And you're rooting for them. To stop singing.
Joe Sucere
I love that.
News Reporter
You hate.
Joe Sucere
Listen, I thought I was going to end up being mad at you, but now I respect you.
Chris Reavers
I think you look it up, I think you'll discover that they're probably the. The top grossing tour band in the world.
Joe Sucere
Gross.
News Reporter
It's because they're always on tour.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, they just. And they'll play anywhere anyway.
Joe Sucere
Take three hits of Blotter and go enjoy a fish concert.
News Reporter
Their guitar player will show up at other people's concerts and everybody has a great deal of respect for him. He's a great player and he'll sit in with anybody and have a blast. I think you're right.
Joe Sucere
Who is?
Chris Reavers
And they don't let him sing, probably.
Joe Sucere
What band was the fat guy with the harmonic?
Chris Reavers
Well, there's been a lot of those Blues travelers.
Joe Sucere
Oh, I found myself at a blues traveler. Oh, boy, that was tough. He's skinny. Really?
News Reporter
He's skinny. Yeah.
Joe Sucere
Well, I bet you. I bet they're still a horrible band.
Chris Reavers
John. Thank you. Here's Chris.
Josh Arnold
Hi. Here is Chris to talk to you about North American Banking Company and you know what? North American Banking Company has been around these parts. I don't know why I turned cowboy.
John Haidt
Yeah, why are you going western?
Josh Arnold
They've been around these parts since 1998. And back then they had one single mission in mind, and that was to create a better banking experience for you, for your family, for your business, for everything. All of your banking needs can be done at North American Banking Company with six wonderful Twin Cities locations to take care of you. Whether it's Roseville, 50th in France, Woodbury, Hastings, Shoreview, and also in Maple Grove. They offer the same updated online and mobile banking tools. And you might think, how's that possible? They're a community bank that can't be done. Not so fast, my friend. They offer those same updated online and mobile banking tools as all of those other big gargantuan national banks. But the key difference is you're going to get the unparalleled service of a community bank. But you've got to see it for yourself. Visit nabankco.com to learn more. It doesn't matter what you're looking to do, whether you're looking to buy a home, finance a new home renovation project project, or even get that new car that you've been thinking about. My friends at North American Banking Company are going to be able to help you out with all of that. But like I mentioned, check them out online. Today it's nabankco.com to learn more. Once again, it's banking done differently. North American Banking company member FDIC is an equal housing lender.
Chris Reavers
Here's a man who spends hours in hardware stores sifting through the nuts and bolts of life. Joe Sucere.
Joe Sucere
I hate these insurance companies. These commercials that show people, old guys our age, poking their nose into other people's business out in public. I think they're starting off to affect me such. I used to be the guy at the gas pump with the seafoam bugs be gone, where I would offer it up. What would you have done? Earlier in the week, I'm at the gas pull pump putting, you know, $85 worth of gas into a 20 or a 10 year old truck. Guy pulls up, his door is super creaky. And I thought, do I have Deep Creep in the truck? And I opened the rear passenger door. Sure enough, there's my can of Deep Creep in the, in the cup holder. I resisted the temptation.
Chris Reavers
I think I would have said, sir, would you. Can I interest you in a little shot of Deep Creek Creep?
Joe Sucere
I am letting these commercials mocking us, mocking the boomers and the old Xers. I'm letting them control my life.
Chris Reavers
Oh, there's nothing better than a quieter door.
John Haidt
That's a missed opportunity. You better frack.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, you, you should be chagrined.
John Haidt
You better go to the gas station every day till it comes back.
Joe Sucere
Not only that, I pride myself. Recently I've been telling everybody, buy them in threes. Buy the Deep Creep by three bottles of the Deep Creep, three of the engine treatment and three of the bugs be gone. And now I'm. I don't know what's happened to me, folks, but yeah, buy them in bundles. The, the you never know when bundle is what I'm calling it. Make sure you get three of each so you have them everywhere. And don't be afraid to help your fellow citizens out like I was earlier in the week. Seafoam is a wonderful product. They do it right. In a world of big bad smushy bugs and rusty bolts and bad gas, Seafoam is your first.
John Haidt
Does anybody here on this show currently have a perfectly stacked pile of papers?
Chris Reavers
I do.
John Haidt
Oh, I didn't even see that. Imagine that. Here we go. That's right here. We got one right here. Okay, we can continue. We're good.
Josh Arnold
I think that's number four for today.
John Haidt
Yeah, I think so. I think we're good here. Looks good there, cowboy.
Chris Reavers
We, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. Do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. Are we still united only because they come to us? Are we done with ads? Yeah, only because they come to us. All the way from Penguin, Tasmania, Australia and as I mentioned, my screensaver today was a beautiful color scene of Tasmania and the ocean.
John Haidt
It's beautiful.
Chris Reavers
It's just gorgeous. This comes to us from the traveling Lymans. It was on this day, Joe.
Josh Arnold
Today is April 9th.
Chris Reavers
Well, on this day in 1789, geographer David Thompson left the trading post of Jean Baptiste Cad on Red Lake river, beginning the last part of his 4,000 mile journey of the northern wilderness, the first scientific study of the state. Beginning in Grand Portage in August 1788, he had traveled to the upper Missouri river and then through Minnesota where he wintered with Cadott. He completed his trip by returning to Grand Portage in June. On this day, April 9th in 1839, Roseanne Perry married James Cluett in St. Paul's first Christian wedding, officiated by the Reverend J.W. pope, a Methodist missionary at Kaposia. That's in South St. Paul.
John Haidt
St. Paul, right up a Concord.
Chris Reavers
On this day, April 9th. Well, it was on this day in 1849, Minnesota received work that it is a territory of the US A month after the bill was approved by President James K. Polk. We have a county in Minnesota named Polk, Polk County, Pennington, Pine, Pipestone, Polk and Polk. On this day, April 9th in 1939.
Matthew Schoonover
Wow.
Chris Reavers
A fire inside a stable killed 128 trained horses belonging to Battery F of the 14th Field Artillery at Fort Snelling. Holy mackerel. On this day, April 9th, the Anderson Library at the U of M opened, named in honor of Elmer L. Anderson, former governor, university regent and bibliophile. Library materials from around the state were stored in two man made caverns, each two stories high and two football fields long carved into the sandstone bluffs along the Mississippi River. And finally, on this day, April 9th in 2006, the Minnesota Immigration with Dignity March drew more than 30,000 people who supported extending legal status to undocumented workers. Boy, is so. Our fondness for this goes way back. Championing family reunification and comprehensive reform, Immigrants and their supporters march from the Cathedral of St Paul to the state Capitol on this day in Minnesota. Sports disappointment, history.
Josh Arnold
Joe, who did we lose to on April 9th?
Chris Reavers
Well, on this day in 1959, imagine that, April 9th, the NBA Finals were over and the Lakers still in Minneapolis were swept in the NBA Finals. Last NBA Finals game in Minnesota. And remains so to this day.
Josh Arnold
That's right.
Joe Sucere
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
Yes.
Josh Arnold
I have one to add. Oh, on this day.
Chris Reavers
Yeah.
John Haidt
April 9th.
Josh Arnold
On this day. On April 9th, 75 years ago, Francis William Reavers was born. Happy birthday to my dad. 75.
Chris Reavers
Happy birthdays. They call him Frank.
John Haidt
I don't care who he is.
Chris Reavers
Anybody call him Frank.
Josh Arnold
Fran.
Chris Reavers
Fran.
Josh Arnold
75 years. Great guy.
John Haidt
But we can't do birthdays for him. So. So.
Josh Arnold
So I asked him what he wanted to do tonight.
Chris Reavers
So. On April. On this day. April 9th, on Frank's birthday.
Josh Arnold
Fran.
Chris Reavers
Fran. In 1980, Herb Brooks left the U of M. Oh, on this day.
Josh Arnold
Because Louis fired him. Right.
John Haidt
Did he leave it to go to the USA?
Chris Reavers
The USA had completed the games already by April 9th in 1980.
John Haidt
So he got. He got a little taste.
Chris Reavers
I think he went to the Rangers.
John Haidt
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
On this day, April 9th. In 1985, Mike Lynn traded to move up and select Bernie Kosar. That didn't work out.
John Haidt
He did.
Josh Arnold
We drafted Bernie Kosar.
John Haidt
I didn't know that.
Chris Reavers
On this day.
John Haidt
Why do we get rid of him?
Chris Reavers
On this day, April 9th. In 2014, the Twins bench clearing brawl featured Brewers Glenn Perkins and Josh Donaldson.
News Reporter
Oh.
Josh Arnold
Against the A's. That's right, Johnny.
John Haidt
We were watching.
Josh Arnold
Watching that at your desk.
Chris Reavers
Yep.
Josh Arnold
I remember watching that at the news desk.
Chris Reavers
On this day.
John Haidt
Those ponies don't take any crap, do they?
Chris Reavers
April 9 In 2021, the Wild give up nine goals, the most in franchise history. On this day.
Josh Arnold
It's a long one On April.
Chris Reavers
Yeah. On this day. April 9, 2023, Gobert, Anderson, kerfuffle and McDaniel punching the wall. I don't know what that is.
Josh Arnold
Oh, yeah, they got into a little.
Chris Reavers
Who are those people?
Josh Arnold
Timberwolves players. Oh, I fought on the bench.
Joe Sucere
Did Perky wait for him on the mound or did he meet him halfway?
Josh Arnold
It was when Donaldson was rounding third. Coming home. Right, John? Wasn't that the bit?
News Reporter
Yeah. And they just started jawing at each other.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, there was a fight recently. I just saw the video.
News Reporter
Two nights ago.
Chris Reavers
Two nights ago? Well, the Angels pitcher had the ball in his hand when he delivered a pretty good block low.
John Haidt
Yeah, he's doing Nolan Ryan nuggies.
Chris Reavers
But he had the. He slugged him, but the ball was in his hand.
Joe Sucere
Anything goes in a street fight on the ball field.
Chris Reavers
Thank you, G.L.
John Haidt
hey, we forgot about the Stars Wild matchup tonight.
Chris Reavers
It is. It's on Hulu and ESPN plus I don't know if I get Hulu.
News Reporter
The Vikings did not draft Bernie Kozar, by the way. I I didn't think they moved up to pick him, but he used a loophole to declare for the 85 supplemental draft to avoid Minnesota and ended up being drafted by Cleveland. It worked out for the Vikings, so they drafted Chris Doleman in that spot.
Chris Reavers
Thank you.
Josh Arnold

Yep, they use the word free 48 minute financial consultation with absolutely zero obligation and he will always give you the straight talk. He will never give you the sugar coated advice and he is on the line with us once again right here in garagelogic. And boy Josh, one of your favorite companies, Amazon. Seriously it could get bigger and better.
Guest Analyst
Bigger and better. Who would have stuck it? Amazon would be a big player or a major player in custom computer chip. Amazon has been making a nice foray into the chip business and had been a was a chip manufacturer of choice for certain types of chips used to train large language models in the AI space. That chip business right now is going at about billion dollar run rate very similar to Broadcom's customers custom chip business that is huge and is another way that Amazon can generate additional revenue. Further, Amazon Web Services continues to pick up large scale customers for aws. That business is also running at a very high rate and I believe when Amazon report their earnings at the end the of of this month that the growth in AWS which analysts watch a lot more than they watch Amazon retail business as AWS generate pretty pretty good profits and huge margin. I do believe that Amazon web services could grow in excess of 25% and that would be a very nice boost for the company. The money that Amazon has committed spend this year artificial intelligence which prized and probably shocked many analysts causing them to downgrade Amazon after their earnings last earnings report which in my estimation was a beat and raise quarter on all fronts and normally should have the telled Amazon to new highs said analysts said oh they're going to be spending a lot of money this year and we question whether they're going to get a return on investment on that money spent well they've already been getting a return on the money that they have been spending and they have they want to be more aggressive on that front and continue their focus which is built into the company company's DNA of go for the growth and continue to think of Amazon and work at Amazon as if it were a startup, not a mature business. And the CEO Andy Jassy has continued that mantra that was part of I'll say Jeff Bezos focus when he was the CEO Jeff Bezos now the chairman of Amazon Amazon Amazon has taken a big big jump today on positive news about the chip business, the AWS business and a return on a very good return that they're having so far on the money spent. Additionally Amazon prime customers get some very good benefit. Amazon also cut a deal with US Post Office which had been in abeyance. So that could be a positive for the Post Office as well as for Amazon for last mile shipment. And then Chris, because I also know that you're not only a baseball player and a baseball fan, you're also into golf and Amazon is also in the Ford and you can watch the Masters right on Amazon this weekend streaming Masters on Amazon. Another benefit as moving on from Amazon price of oil you know is up today on on Iran notion that the US has already violated the ceasefire or at least violated some of the terms that Iran has for a ceasefire. Well one of those terms of course is the ability to continue a risk. Well that's not going to happen. The Iranians have also put a little kabash at this point on ships moving through the streets of Hormoz. But in a report just recently this morning Israel said that they're agreeing or they have pushed to start direct talk with Lebanon over Hezbollah and that could be another, we'll say, boost to finding a longer term solution in the Mid East. Son number two, Judd Arnold has written a very nice piece on his substack post to take a look at the negotiations and ceasefire negotiations at the end of the Yom Kippur War. How in the Mid east in particular in perspective Persian Persia, that's being Iran. Everybody has got to come out or show that they are a bit of a winner. So negotiate. Negotiation could go on for some time there, but I do believe that sometime later this summer, early fall, we'll see the price of oil significantly lower in the meantime. Also, earnings are going to be starting in earnest next and that too will be market moving.
Josh Arnold

Garage Logic – Episode Summary (April 9, 2026) “Trump administration attacks the Pope. GL money beats on the Swiss Guard.”
This episode, hosted by Joe Soucheray ("The Mayor") with co-hosts Chris Reavers, Kenny Olson, John Haidt, and regulars "The Rookie" and Josh Arnold, brings the signature Gumption County lens to current events—mixing news, politics, nostalgia, and barstool philosophy. Major topics include the (satirical/speculative) Trump administration conflict with the Pope, undersea cable security, new developments in local crime and politics, American cultural shifts, faith and public schools, and a humorous digression into band fandom. The show maintains its warm, wry tone, with a combination of skepticism, nostalgia, and practical midwestern wisdom.

For Listeners New & Old:
This episode is quintessential Garage Logic—blending trenchant political/cultural observation, local grit, and the comforting rituals of Minnesota life. While some segments veer into satire or conjecture, the underlying thread is dissatisfaction with the loss of agency and common sense in public life, and a longing for a more grounded, participatory America. All delivered with the unique warmth and wit that has made Garage Logic the heart of Gumption County.
