Hey Garage Logic fans. I do a podcast on the Garage Logic Network that comes out every Wednesday and Friday, now twice a week. But here's an important caveat. There is zero logic available in my show. In the formal definition of logic, of course. Life is a yin and yang kind of thing. There's the logic side and then there's the what the hell? Side, which needs to get its exercise. So come for the what the hell? And stay for the. You've got to be kidding me. Mishke Now. Wednesdays and Fridays, twice a week. Everybody talked about it since I first moved to Oregon. The big one. The earthquake that trashed the whole West Coast. Total destruction.

Chris Reavers
Hail the Flashlight King.
Joe Soucheray
Hail you. And now from the mayor's office above the boathouse on the east shore of Spoon Lake, it's Garage Logic, with Chris Reavers manning technology corner, Kenny Olson from the crabby coffee shop, John Hight in the newsroom, and of course, the rookie here is your Flashlight King fireworks commissioner and the keeper of common sense. Your may Joe Sushi in my absence. Reavers. I trust that you took care of the opener on Friday.
Chris Reavers
Okay. If I get blamed for this.
Joe Soucheray
I think you will.
Chris Reavers
I will walk out the door, right?
Joe Soucheray
Why will you walk out the door?
Chris Reavers
But here's the thing. I had you. You had informed me that you needed the day off on Friday and I'll tell you why. And we're going to get to that.
Matt
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
And I did think, well, what happens if we hit 70?
Joe Soucheray
Why didn't you do something about it?
Chris Reavers
Because I was tending to family related things. I was here early in the morning and put together the best of when it was 49 degrees outside. I wasn't gonna sit around and wait till 3 o' clock in the afternoon.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, that would involve working
Kenny Olson
Chris Wonder.
Josh Arnold
You want to talk about it?
Kenny Olson
Chris?
Chris Reavers
Hi, Ken.
Kenny Olson
Isn't it interesting that the guy in charge on one of the most important days of the show during the course of the year decides to take it off and then to cover up his, I don't know, shirking of duties. His laziness is just completely dropping the ball. He blames it on you apparently.
Joe Soucheray
The radio's on and the comments. Here's Joe Sushire. Apparently, apparently we had the opener on Friday and you know, there's a. What? There's another way to look at this. G lers are resourceful, responsible people. They didn't need some. Never mind, we got her down. They didn't need some hack politician. They didn't need some fake mayor to tell them it was 70 degrees that
Kenny Olson
falls in the ouse hole and comes out smelling.
Joe Soucheray
That's right. So congratulations. I hope everyone enjoyed was a beautiful opener.
Matt
I think you're going w Mission accomplished.
Joe Soucheray
That's right, mission accomplished.
Matt
We're open.
Joe Soucheray
The garage door is open.
Chris Reavers
I would like to point out too that, you know, Kenny did set Kenny in the rare occasion Kenny sent a group text to all of us.
Joe Soucheray
I didn't.
Chris Reavers
Not one person on the staff even brought it up that there was an opener on Friday. Including, I mean all of us. Not one person.
Matt
I have the uncanny ability to tune out the show when I'm not here.
Kenny Olson
And I've learned, I've learned from you, Matthew.
Joe Soucheray
Thank you for teaching. I attended a college graduation in Columbia, South Carolina. Columbia was a. Was the principal depot, materials depot during the Confederate war. There's many thoughts that Sherman started his march to Atlanta from there. He did not. Although Sherman was accused of burning Columbia and he denied that. And it was later discovered that there were many sources of the fires that destroyed Columbia during the civil War. I had to attend a college graduation and it was wonderful. I went to two dive bars, a very high end restaurant. Stayed in a boutique hotel smack dab in the middle of downtown. Walked a farmer's market, an art fair which apparently is held every Saturday. Quiet on a main street that led right to the steps of the state capitol, which is a modest old building, Gorgeous. And I can't tell you, I can't make rash proclamations because I wasn't there long enough to make solid proclamations. But I felt different when I was there.
Chris Reavers
In what sense?
Joe Soucheray
The electrical impulses in the air were different. The way people looked at each other were different. The way things got conducted were different. I had the college graduation, University of South Carolina. I went to two different graduations, One in which the young lady was in a graduation with just her department, and then another where she joined the student body in the basketball arena, which is bigger than Target Center. I sensed no, and I'm sure again, I can't give general. These are generalizations just from observing. I sensed that capitalism was not frowned upon. I never heard one word about pronouns. And I spent a lot of time with this young lady's group of friends and people that she met over the four years, male and female, and they have their own. They specialize in being the principal clients at a particular dive bar.
Chris Reavers
You know what that means. She did the right thing.
Joe Soucheray
She had a wonderful experience. And I never heard a pronoun, I never. That people frowned on capitalism. I didn't sense there was this undercurrent of bringing about the destruction of western civilization. I didn't see any checkered tablecloths on people's heads. I mean, that might have happened. I asked her, were there protests here? Were there protests pro Palestinian protests here? And she said, I don't know. I think there might have been one. She didn't know. And it wouldn't have been in her milieu.
Matt
She would have hoped, though.
Joe Soucheray
And I can't go beyond that. I don't know. There's city politics in Columbia. I don't know who the city council is. I don't really have a great handle on the state government of Columbia. Columbia is about an hour and a half south of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Chris Reavers
The conclusion you're drawing is things seem to work.
Joe Soucheray
It worked. Things seem to work. It was very comfortable to be there. But I'm a racist, so I didn't want, you know, I didn't want anything to do with any black people or anything like that. I stayed at this hotel I think is black owned, run by a black family and their extended family members. It's a little boutique hotel that I knew nothing about, but learned that many parents of kids at the University of South Carolina have been using this downtown boutique hotel for the four years they would be going back and forth to visit their kids during special events. And I watched the wild play one of the finest hockey games I've ever seen from the lobby of that trundle. And it's just. It was fantastic.
Matt
I'm glad that.
Kenny Olson
How was your weather?
Joe Soucheray
Weather was perfect.
Kenny Olson
It sounds like you had a great weekend.
Matt
So in summary, we had the opener
Joe Soucheray
there Friday, the garage door open.
Kenny Olson
I recommended on Thursday that you get out and do something like that. And that's exactly what you did. I'm glad you got a. Got to see another side of the United States.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, I got 10 to 15,000 steps in a day.
Matt
So in summary, not that we're turning the Titanic around, you're just. Your observations were there's still a glimmer of hope. There's still hope for this country. Where did you leave this?
Joe Soucheray
The only thing I can tell you is I could comfortably move to the Carolinas tomorrow. Preferably near a coast.
Matt
It could be by water.
Joe Soucheray
Columbia's landlocked, but near a coast. Yes, there is a glimmer of hope.
Kenny Olson
I do have one question, because you tapped upon something that I've turned out that's. It's been a great pet peeve of mine recently. You use the term dive bar. Does the bar advertise itself.
Joe Soucheray
No.
Kenny Olson
As a dive bar?
Joe Soucheray
No.
Kenny Olson
Are there clean, beautiful people in the dive bar?
Matt
In fact, if it's a dive bar, they don't even advertise clean, beautiful people.
Joe Soucheray
But the bar itself was a wreck.
Kenny Olson
It's a hole.
Joe Soucheray
Yes.
Kenny Olson
Okay.
John Hight
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
Okay, good.
Matt
So Kenny's in then.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah.
Kenny Olson
As long as it really is. Because the beautiful people have taken over the term dive bar. And they think if there's pull tabs there, it's a dive bar. And it's usually not a real dive bar, but it sounds like you hit on one.
Joe Soucheray
Right. And I don't know why this kid of a kid I used to have chose this place, but she's really glad she did.
Kenny Olson
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
No, not the bar. The school, not the bar. Thank you. Clarification. There was a different vibe in the air. That's the only thing I could pinpoint. There was a different ambiance.
Kenny Olson
One more question, and I'm sure the Gl ers Caught up on it. When you were describing the idyllic scene of walking around and food courts and what did you say, a farmer's market or something?
Joe Soucheray
It was a hell of a farmer's market.
Kenny Olson
At any time, did you in the CP end up holding hands?
Joe Soucheray
Wow. No. In fact, I walked this without her. I didn't have any. Okay. All right. All right. I. I had other people to be with.
Chris Reavers
All right.
Kenny Olson
That's awesome.
John Hight
She was probably making plans for your guys's move right down there. Is that what she was doing?
Matt
She's probably getting all this.
Joe Soucheray
There's a ray of hope there. Oh, I don't think she's totally against it.
Josh Arnold
All right.
Kenny Olson
So cool.
Matt
So you're telling me there's a chance. I'm telling you there's a 99.9 million.
Joe Soucheray
I'm telling you there's a chance.
Kenny Olson
Start small.
Joe Soucheray
Start small. You're right.
Kenny Olson
Place.
Joe Soucheray
You're right.
Kenny Olson
Winter place.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah. And I'm not going to complain about the roads. There are no potholes there. But we have to cut ourselves some slack on that. We just have a bad climate for roads in the Twin Cities in Minnesota.
Kenny Olson
Glad you brought up roads.
Joe Soucheray
There's really nothing. There's no way to get around that. We just have. We just have tough weather for concrete and asphalt.
Matt
Well, if you do end up buying a condo down there, will you let us know when you're not there?
Joe Soucheray
Yes.
Matt
We can come down and check on it. Yeah.
Kenny Olson
I was in the Twin Cities over the weekend. Weekend. And I. I guess I've started in recent years ignoring you guys when you complain about potholes.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah.
Chris Reavers
Wow.
Matt
Wake up.
Kenny Olson
No.
Joe Soucheray
You know, we have. We have nothing to gain there. We're a victim of the climate with this pothole situation. There's no getting around it. And that's just the way it is, Joe.
Kenny Olson
On Minnehaha Parkway and the.
Joe Soucheray
The.
Kenny Olson
The parkways around the lakes. It's so bad. Oh, my Lord.
Joe Soucheray
It's terrible.
Kenny Olson
It is. I'm driving by $5 million mansions on Lake of the Isles, and my truck is bouncing like I'm driving through a minefield.
Joe Soucheray
I'll tell you something else. The city of Charlotte, North Carolina, currently home only to two major league teams. The Panthers and. What's the basketball team? The Hornets.
Chris Reavers
The Hornets.
Joe Soucheray
Charlotte Hornets. Boy, if I owned a baseball team or a hockey team, I'd double down on hanging onto it where it is because nobody's going to move there. There's a million people in Charlotte, North Carolina. The airport's as big as I'VE ever been in an airport. It's happening. Charlotte is happening.
Matt
Who's the closest professional teams that they've had?
Joe Soucheray
They've always cheered for the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta's two hours away. I was only probably an hour from Augusta, Georgia, home of the Masters. The minor league Class A team in. In Augusta has got a great name. The Green Jackets.
Matt
Oh, the.
Joe Soucheray
I assume it was Class A.
Chris Reavers
Okay.
Joe Soucheray
Columbia has a Class A team, the Fireflies. They're Kansas City. I'm saying Class A. I didn't. I didn't look it up much beyond looking at it.
Kenny Olson
That's kind of a dainty.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah, it's all right. What are you gonna do?
Kenny Olson
Is the young one planning on staying there?
Joe Soucheray
No, she's. She's got gigs elsewhere.
Matt
She's seeking.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, and she. She plans on being an active. AL Just loves it. She loved the whole deal.
Chris Reavers
The Columbia Fireflies are the single A affiliate.
John Hight
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
That's a Class A league. They're Kansas City.
Chris Reavers
That's a neat hat too.
Joe Soucheray
And what else can I tell you? It's just. Something was different. Now it's small. It's smaller than the Twin Cities.
Matt
When you say different, do you mean
Joe Soucheray
140 to 150,000 people in Columbia?
Matt
Do you mean rolling through downtown or rolling through neighborhoods where you don't see all are welcome here or what kind of.
Joe Soucheray
Now, there may be neighborhoods full of that. I don't know. I didn't see it.
Matt
Yeah, but downtown is where you're gonna get all that.
Joe Soucheray
Downtown was a mixture of people going about their business.
Chris Reavers
We were out that way about four years ago for spring break, and it was very enjoyable. I know exactly the vibe you're picking up on.
Joe Soucheray
Here's what I recommend. If GL ERs can do it. You just gotta try this sometime. Just to sense the difference in your own being. To sense the difference whether you go to Charlotte or I don't know where. Pick a city in the southeastern United States. Or you could pick a city in other parts of the United States. And I bet you get the same feeling.
Chris Reavers
I could help you.
Joe Soucheray
Now, again, let me finish. For all I know, a couple from Columbia could come to Minneapolis for a University of Minnesota graduation and maybe they would find it a very enjoyable experience.
Chris Reavers
Well, that's where I was going, because Friday I left this building right after I missed the opener for the Best of Garage Logic. And I had to go run an errand. And so I went from here to
Joe Soucheray
Abbott Northwestern via University Avenue.
Chris Reavers
Well, that Cedar. All the. You know, because everything's under construction right now. It did not feel like I was even in Minneapolis. It just felt, where am I? There was a guy working on his car in the middle of the road with his four way. I mean, it just felt like you weren't even in Minneapolis.
Joe Soucheray
Well, it's a different feeling.
Chris Reavers
It really is.
Joe Soucheray
It's a different feeling.
Chris Reavers
And I'll admit I rarely drive through the city anymore.
Kenny Olson
What I love about Minneapolis is all the traffic calming things that they've put in the middle of the roads. That just makes traveling impossible and makes everybody angry. Even the bicycle riders are po.
Joe Soucheray
There was not a heavy emphasis on. In fact, I did not see a bicycle lane. Now there might be again. You can't learn everything in 72 hours. For all I know, they have a tremendous bicycling community.
Chris Reavers
To go 2.4 miles from this building to Abbott Northwestern took me 26 minutes.
Joe Soucheray
Well, I saw something else I haven't seen in ages. Cars making the loop downtown on a Saturday night. Loud. Great cars. Cruising, cruising. Oh, cruising.
Kenny Olson
Fun.
Joe Soucheray
When's the last time cruising here? That's just done by white capitalists. Well, you can't have a car here. We're trying to walk and have bicycles.
Chris Reavers
Outside of back to the 50s, you won't see it here.
Joe Soucheray
The modern chargers and the vets and Camaros with cams in and that made them sound like tanks. I mean, it was. It was just wonderful cruising. And I. I loved it. I sat outside and watched it.
Kenny Olson
We hate cars in Minneapolis.
Joe Soucheray
We hate cars. Cars are evil.
Kenny Olson
Take away more lanes.
Joe Soucheray
Get those two. Recall. You recall. This is vaguely on the same topic. We had the story last week of was it a legislative bill? I think a legislative bill?
Chris Reavers
Oh, yeah.
Joe Soucheray
I thought it was city, but it's not a legislative bill to make camping in public. You can't prohibit it. Right. Well, a guy's got a great point. Dan Wennerberg writes regarding legislation to prohibit cities from penalizing homeless people who are camping in public areas. Would this mean I can pitch a tent in any Minnesota state park without using the online reservation system months in advance? Well, doesn't he have a valid point?
Kenny Olson
In theory, I hope he's addicted. He's got to be addicted to meth first.
Joe Soucheray
Well, I was going to say no, Dan, you still have to have a reservation because presumably you work. Yeah. And pay taxes. You probably need a reservation. But the guy's got a great point. Yeah, I don't think you'd find that bill in South Carolina. Maybe you would, but I doubt it. I don't think you would the.
John Hight
When you open Columbia's website, Joe. Yeah, and again, I feel this way even if I go out state. Yeah, the way you felt in South Carolina.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah.
John Hight
But it's National Bike Month and they have a big thing about that.
Joe Soucheray
So.
John Hight
Yeah, they do have, you know, sure.
Kenny Olson
Bicycle or real bike?
John Hight
Bike. No bike. In fact, it says, quote, we're in the process of creating a comprehensive safety action plan that will build on the recommendations of Walk Bike, Columbia and Columbia Compass to prioritize safety.
Kenny Olson
You mean bicycle, not real motors, not real bikes?
John Hight
Bicycle. Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
They, you know, if they do it, they'll probably do it. Right. Can I tell you that you're not biking, you're driving. And if you ever get in a car accident, would you please get ahold of Bradshaw and Bryant personal injury attorneys, because they're the best and if you're like me and many other people, you might not even know what to do if you're ever injured in an accident, God forbid. Insurance companies and adjusters are the hassle that we all hear about. Mike Bryant and Bradshaw and Bryant. Their team will explain your rights, represent you, get you through a tough time. I hope you're never in an accident, but if you are, call Bradshaw and Bryant. They're the injury law firm of G.L. bradshaw and Bryant, 800-770-7008 or go to MinnesotaPersonalJury.com your case evaluation, of course, is on them. And please don't be a part of the problem. Don't text or drive. Or drive dist. Just common sense from Bradshaw and Bryant.

Let me get this for you here.
Matt
How did you lose it from last break?
Joe Soucheray
Here's a man who spends hours in hardware stores sifting through the nuts and bolts of life. Joe Sushere. No.
Kenny Olson
Wow. No, no. Do we have to call you Maestro now? Is it okay? Can I go now?
Matt
It's here, Conductor.
Joe Soucheray
Yes, sir.
Kenny Olson
He prefers to be called Maestro. The opener. There it goes. It's come and gone. But to celebrate, Warner's is going to keep offering early season rebates. Right now, of course, I'm talking Warner Stock in New Richmond and Skeeter boats with the reb. Not only can you find your new skeeter@warnerdock.com that's Warner's dock.com clown. You also have your pick of new Alumacraft boats and Premier pontoons. And if you want to upgrade your current situation, either your boat or pontoon, Warner Stock will take that trade. They're also just straight out purchasing used fishing boats and pontoons up to 15 years old. They do it all, from sales to service storage. Warner Stock is the place for all storage of your boating needs without board repairs, electronic equipment installation, trailer service docks. Of course, Warner Stock is. They're committed to keeping you on the water all season. We know this lifestyle isn't cheap. It's not cheap to own a boat. And we can trust Warner Stock to take care of every step to keep you and your family happy and on the water all season long. They're right there in New Richmond, Wisconsin. And on the web. Warner's
Chris Reavers
question about fishing.
Joe Soucheray
Where do our sensibilities lie in terms of what the governor. He went to Stillwater.
Chris Reavers
Went all the way to Stillwater, did he?
Kenny Olson
There's no rocks and there's no cows in Stillwater.
Joe Soucheray
He's not going to show himself where people are going to call him out.
Chris Reavers
I mean, did he take an Uber?
Joe Soucheray
Gives me a great chance to talk to you about Amy Klobuchar. I've determined or I've decided that it's not plausible that she has not known about fraud all along. It's not plausible. She is the state's principal DFL figure and I hope that doesn't prevent her from coming on with this. Many of you are already anticipating my failure in talking to her. And saying that I won't ask her that. If she doesn't come on, it's probably because I will ask her that. I think she is a tremendous risk to vote for governor. She is saying all the right things with absolutely no conviction or evidence to back it up. She has had to know about fraud. She has offices throughout the state. She has a metro office. She has an office in Washington, D.C. she has an office in Rochester, Minnesota. She has an office in Morehead, Minnesota. She has an office in Virginia, Minnesota. She is the state's leading DFLer. And I fear mightily that nothing would change. Well, that's unfair. There would be some changes if she were to become governor. But, for example, she favors a very intense auditing of state agencies. Well, by whom? If they're going to be conducted by internal auditing, I have no reason to think that would work. And we also note that we have to establish, or we have established an Office of Inspector General that's going to cost about 5 million to, you know, buy the computers and the desk chairs and the telephones, and then another 11 million. I heard a year. I read a year. Because we no longer can assume that we have people who know right from wrong. We'll need a special government agency to be in charge of it. This state is in a mess. I don't. She will have to explain to us how the state would not be a mess under her tutelage. Because it's just. I've been thinking a lot about it. It's not plausible that she doesn't know about this. It's not plausible that Ilhan Omar has not known about this. It's not plausible that Walls did not know it from day one. And there's another piece of information that we should have factored in last week when Sherene Gandhi was removed and Dave from Alexandria alerted me to this. What? We should have realized that she was removed. Sherene Gandhi was removed by Walls. A day before. This was last week. A day before she was due to face a confirmation hearing. That's.
Matt
I'm calling BS on that.
Joe Soucheray
Okay, so a day before Walls could have been additionally exposed, he suddenly decides that she shouldn't be the Commissioner anymore. Department of Human Services. So what happened to that grilling? It went away. There was no confirmation here. There was no opportunity for her to talk. So this has been carefully manipulated all along. And Walls, apparently you think you've fooled people by choosing not to promote her to that permanent position. One day before, she would have been asked very tough questions. One day and now those tough questions, they went away
Kenny Olson
for her.
Matt
Those tough questions should still be on whatever.
Joe Soucheray
Amy, were you on the phone to Walls about that? I wonder, were you talking to each other about it? I'm not saying that Amy Klobuchar is a thief. I am not suggesting that at all. But I certainly am suggesting she knew about the theft. She had to. It's not plausible that she would not have. She's the godfather of the Minnesota dfl. Okay. Godmother of the Minnesota dfl.
Chris Reavers
And one of the times we had Pat Garofalo here in studio, didn't he say there's no way anyone didn't know about this years ago?
Joe Soucheray
Yes, and it predates this current administration. But this current administration upped it a notch. And that's the feeling. The difference in feeling a g le might get here as opposed to visiting somewhere else. I didn't feel that I was. That the people there were being robbed. There. There it is. I didn't feel that they were dealing with theft every day. Again, I wasn't there long enough to make a conclusion. But that's the vibe. The vibe was the people I encountered and interact with and talked to did not. It didn't even come up. There was no sense that they felt they were being robbed. And there's a sense here that we're being robbed. And there's a sense here that a veil keeps trying to be pulled over our eyes. There's a sense here that there's manipulation going on and it's been ongoing. There's a sense here that Walls not promoting Shereen Gandhi, a day before, she would have been grilled about her fitness to be the head of the department was cancelled, and therefore that hearing went away.
Kenny Olson
It's more than just that. You're right, you hit it on the head. But there's more than just that. Sherene, before she was in this position, was also a compliance officer, an assistant commissioner and a deputy commissioner. And if you remember when we had Faye Bernstein on crabby, Sherene was one of her supervisors, and Fay went to her with information about fraud. Sherene shut that down. Well, not to pursue. And then when she got into her position, she said, we're doing everything we can and I'm against fraud and I'm fighting this, and blah, blah, blah. So.
Joe Soucheray
Well, the. Here. Here's what would have been interesting if. If she was thoroughly enough questioned during this hearing that got canceled.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, this would have.
Joe Soucheray
She. She would have had. She either would have had to. To take the stake herself. Die on the stake or she would have had to give up walls.
Kenny Olson
Right.
Joe Soucheray
So therefore that's why it went away.
Kenny Olson
Yep. Yep.
Joe Soucheray
So, people of Minnesota, you gotta be really careful about Amy. I know she's popular and I know she has long historical roots in Minnesota. I knew her father well. But I'm sorry, Amy, that it's not plausible that you're innocent. You might be innocent, Amy, of theft yourself. I'm not suggesting that at all. But you're part of the machinery that is served to bring this state into a serious deterioration. You've been there. You're going to have to tell us. What have you done? What do you foresee to restore this state to some degree of sanity and law abiding behavior? 1, 2, 3, 5 offices, 4 of them around the state of Minnesota. Don't tell me that you couldn't have known what was taking place in this state, Amy. You just. And please come on with us now, will you? I think whether you will or not will say a great deal about you. Because you owe it to the people of this state to be questioned by somebody that's going to question you, ask the right questions, not talk to you about your favorite recipe or what the hell else you might get grilled about. No, we need to know this, Amy. We need to have our state back.
Kenny Olson
Do you get the sense that they're ever going to just throw up their hands and go, okay, okay, here's what's really happened? Here's what happened. They've been covering up since it was happening and they're still covering up. It's the COVID up. Such an insult.
Joe Soucheray
I had a great email from Bert. Where is it? Dang it. Is this it? No. Bert was wondering. The mink. I'm sorry? The mink was wondering if the immigration population of Minnesota will ever grow tired of its confinement in being taken care of by the government. You with me so far?
Chris Reavers
Sure.
Joe Soucheray
Will ever grow weary of that and branch out and become successful on their own with a nut and bolt factory or running a store. I mean, I'm sure there are doctors and lawyers in the immigrant community all the time. And I. I wish I could find his email. I'm sorry that I can't. Maybe I put it in the flag roundup pile, but I doubt it. My answer to him off the top of my head would be no here. I don't see it happening here in this state. Because this state is. This state does not celebrate excellence. This state attacks it, punishes it. This state punishes excellence. It does not foster it. Okay. There's something else. Columbia, South Carolina. Not that big of a place. Was clean, was bright. Was.
Matt
Were you downtown on a Saturday night?
Joe Soucheray
Yes.
Matt
What did you see?
Joe Soucheray
Cruising. People were cruising.
Matt
In a good way.
Joe Soucheray
I was watching the hockey game pretty intently.
Matt
But not in an intimidating way.
Joe Soucheray
No. The way we used to cruise 50 years ago around here. I don't think. I think the immigrant population that we have in Minnesota are more than welcome to excel on their own, but they don't. Because
Matt
government interference.
Joe Soucheray
Well, they're either told not to or they don't feel any need to or whatever the reason is. Many are. Many are.
John Hight
Of course.
Joe Soucheray
Course. But not enough. God dang it. I wonder where that email is. Well, Mank. I had it. I read it. I don't know where that.
Kenny Olson
What are you, about an hour from Myrtle Beach? Two hours?
Joe Soucheray
Yeah.
Kenny Olson
Does that drive?
Joe Soucheray
Charleston's only about two hours? Hour and a half.
Chris Reavers
You know what they have in Myrtle Beach? A lot of mini golf courses.
Joe Soucheray
Well, let me tell you something. They also have a lot of real ones.
Matt
You play? Throw a little mini down.
Joe Soucheray
I didn't get any golf in. That was not a golfing trip.
Kenny Olson
Were you able to hit it through the windmill?
Joe Soucheray
Not a golfing trip. I repeat that.
Chris Reavers
One of the things that I usually.
Kenny Olson
Rhinoceros mouth.
Chris Reavers
One of the things I like to do when I'm vacationing and I like to golf is I bring a trash bag full of golf balls.
Joe Soucheray
I know you do.
Matt
Four regular golf.
Chris Reavers
Seen it fit in with the locals.
Joe Soucheray
We didn't make enough of this last week, and that's my fault. We didn't make enough of this. Governor Walz removed Shereen Gandhi as the commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Services one day before Shereng Gandhi would have faced questioning. Come on, people. We're not that dumb, are we? Huh?
Chris Reavers
They think we are.
Kenny Olson
It's not a sexy subject, Joel. I guarantee you 80% of Minnesotans have no idea, nor do they care.
Joe Soucheray
No, I'm going to dispute that. I think more than I think 50% of this state knows that they're being had.
Kenny Olson
I hope so.
Joe Soucheray
But, you know, has a governor. I think there was a fishing opener once on White Bear Lake. Was that walls? Was he avoiding rocks and cows in his first year as governor?
Matt
Had to have been.
Kenny Olson
Let me ask you something about this year's. Did he happen to fish off a dock?
Joe Soucheray
I saw a picture of him in a boat.
Kenny Olson
Was the Yukon in the parking lot running with idlings open?
Chris Reavers
Yeah,
Joe Soucheray
I saw a picture of him in a boat.
Kenny Olson
Somebody Gets a fish on and they quick hand.
Joe Soucheray
I found. I found the email. I found the email. Okay.
Kenny Olson
Thank goodness. Oh goodness.
Matt
All right, I'll quit looking.
Joe Soucheray
What do you think, if at all that the voting bloc of immigrants and minorities being used by the left for votes will become successful and or acclimated enough to realize the American left is just using them as voting fodder. At some point, enough of them will see they are being used and put up their own reasonable candidates. I am exempting current office holders such as Omar and her ilk as they are just tools of the party and or lone wolves. I mean standard immigrants who make a go of it and come to see that promises of perpetual handouts are not the bargain they seem to be. I bring it up because I saw the results of an election in Scarborough, Ontario where in the PM and Liberal Party spent millions on their own candidate only to see him lose to a local Bangladeshi man who owns a bunch of Domino's franchises and was not of the correct party. Talk about windmilling. Signed the Mink with his finger on the pulse of international voting psychology. So a Bangladeshi guy who struck out and now is probably wealthy by owning a string of Domino's franchises, beat the power structure in Scarborough, Ontario. I guess what the Mink is wondering, will that happen here? Well, it has happened with Omar, but not because she. Omar's the lone wolf grifter. Yeah, she's not. She's not. She's not made a go of anything in her life except accusing the rest of us as being racist.
Kenny Olson
We did have a bunch of Somalians come out and say they were not voting for her last cycle, but it was a small number.
Chris Reavers
But she's still won.
Joe Soucheray
Again, I need one more thing about. Before you chase me away, Reavers, I need one more thing about Omar. You. You may even do the Ilhan Omar.
Chris Reavers
Oh, is it time for an update?
Joe Soucheray
If you wish. If you wish. Do it.
Chris Reavers
If there's an update.
Joe Soucheray
Okay, let me turn to this and get it ready for you. Yes.
Chris Reavers
What happened to my thing here?
Joe Soucheray
Oh boy. Oh boy. Never mind.
Chris Reavers
We missed the open.
Joe Soucheray
Never mind. That happened on Friday. Here is your latest Ilhan Omar report on Garage Logic. Well, as you know, Ilhan has turned down any request from the Kristen Robbins led Minnesota House Fraud Prevention Committee. I'm stunned she wouldn't provide paperwork or appear in person. And now Robbins is sending letters to the House Oversight committee in Washington D.C. asking if they can make a move to have Ilhan Omar produce the information she has and is needed here. And I doubt that. I'm sure Ilhan will figure out a way to avoid that, but.
Chris Reavers
Well, why would they turn her in?
Joe Soucheray
Well, she might have to answer to them. She's getting away with not answering to a local legislator. She might not be able to turn away from answering the head of the Federal Oversight Committee headed up by James Comore. She might have to answer that. Robin says, look here, we've been ghosted. We've been absolutely ignored. So maybe at the federal level somebody would have the hammer to say, hey, Ilhan, you gotta go answer those people or else. I don't know what the or else would be, but I'm sure knowing her,
Matt
why is there zero accountability for her?
Joe Soucheray
Well, you don't wanna be an Islamophobe, do you? Or a racist.
Matt
You know what? Let her just slide.
Chris Reavers
Let her slide.
Matt
What am I talking about?
Chris Reavers
She pulled that crap over the weekend, by the way. You saw that, right?
Joe Soucheray
I did not. Help me. I was gone. Chris, I don't know if you just heard the show. I wasn't here for three days.
Kenny Olson
It's very defensive.
Chris Reavers
Wow, she did pull the whole racism. They're only after me because the white. The white supremacy bs. This is what she gets.
Matt
I was attacked and she didn't do anything.
Chris Reavers
She gets away with this because everyone bows down to this.
Joe Soucheray
Johan, you're despicable. If that's your answer, you are truly despicable. Oh. God. I hope you got to eco fun over the weekend. Take advantage of this increasingly warm weather we're going to be experiencing. Have you seen the weather forecast?
Matt
It looks beautiful.
Joe Soucheray
Well, we're going for the 80s.
Matt
80s.
Joe Soucheray
We're going for the 80s. And they've got the electric bike.
Matt
I wish I had a bike when I didn't have to pedal it.
Joe Soucheray
You know, that's what an electric bike does for you. Matt, you don't have to worry about it. They got electric bikes. They have motorcycles. They've got. Well, they got a huge selection. A Kawasaki Aprilia, a Yamaha motorcycle scooters on sale starting at 1499. They sell quickly when gas is over 4 bucks a gallon. I can do 75 miles worth of errands on my Yamaha scooter for $4. 75 miles worth. That's a couple weeks in town. And they've got the youth recreational equipment. And they've got water equipment, Kawasaki Jet Skis and Yamaha wave runners. Mention that you heard this ad on Garage Lodge can receive a Yamaha pull behind tube, the matching tow rope and air pump to fill it. Look, this is going to be the most fun store you've ever been in. Ecofund Motorsports in Forest Lake, Columbus. It's on Highway 97, immediately west of the interstate and down in Burnsville on the service road of life. But these two stores are packed with scooters, motorcycles, ATVs side by sides electric bikes, one of the biggest in stock selections around and a great although I consider it personally dangerous website@ecofunmotorsports.com. Fraud in Minnesota. It's costing us all. And that's why 5 Eyewitness News is shining a light on fraud. I'm Lindsey Brown and at 5 Eyewitness News, we're digging through records, following the money and exposing who is taking advantage of taxpayers.
Commercial Announcer
We don't take easy answers and we
Joe Soucheray
won't let fraud go unchecked when tax dollars are misused. You deserve to know because this is your money and we're working hard to protect it.
Commercial Announcer
Watch and see the difference.
Joe Soucheray
Only on 5 Eyewitness News. It's the end of the world as we know it and he feels fine. Joe Suzeray no hyperbole, no lie.
Kenny Olson
It's the best cup of coffee you'll ever have. And it comes at a reasonable price too. Of course, I'm talking custom roasting.net based out of Buffalo, Minnesota. Now this joint is run by G. Ellers at and boy, they've been at it for a while, roasting and selling specialty roasts forever. And they're ready to roast your order today right now. That's how it works with custom roasting.net you place your order, then they roast it up in their state of the art convection roaster. Then they send it to you just like that. So no shelf time here. I suggest if it's your first time, go for the GL Starter pack. You're seeing that now on your screen through our that's four bags of light roast to dark roast and only the best. And this other one though is the one that I can't get enough of. And it's time to order again. I'm talking the big two, two pound and three quarter bags of either dark or light roasted coffee sent right to your door. And I love it because it's free shipping. Click on the garagelogic tab on the website, get the process started. Then make sure you use code glass at checkout for that big twin pack. But you know what, feel free to snoop around and try some of the other blends. I've tried most of them and they're all better than anything else I've had elsewhere. And I've had a lot of cups of coffee. I'm talking about a very wonderful cup of coffee at a very reasonable price. I'm talking custom roasting dot net.
Joe Soucheray
I wonder if this little hotel I was in had custom roasting because it was wonderful. Coffee. Coffee.
Kenny Olson
Cool.
Joe Soucheray
Here's John height.
John Hight
Thank you, Mr. Sucra. I do need to order some Boundary Waters, Kenny, so I will do that today. Thanks for the reminder.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, John. That's good. That's now my favorite too. After drinking French roast my whole life, I now drink Boundary Waters.
John Hight
If. If you're not on the city council, I want people to know that we created a new podcast during the break called Tick Tock.
Joe Soucheray
So leading cause of emergency room visits in the southeastern part of the country are tick. Tick problems.
John Hight
Huh? I did talk to somebody. Boy, we are turning it into a podcast. Yeah, this about a week and a half ago. Who said their backyard. They can't go out in their backyard right now.
Joe Soucheray
Where do they live?
John Hight
They live up on the north side here, but it's somewhat out in the country. They said their backyard faces the country. It's like a cul de sac, kind of a.
Joe Soucheray
Good lord.
John Hight
The background is they have ticked their dogs. They got two dogs.
Joe Soucheray
I don't like tick spray.
John Hight
Yeah, you can get tick things for dogs.
Chris Reavers
Sure.
John Hight
I don't know.
Kenny Olson
I mean for the yard. I want them all dead and gone.
Joe Soucheray
Question do dogs get tick borne diseases? I wonder.
John Hight
Question.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah.
John Hight
On the next episode of Tick Tock, we'll.
Joe Soucheray
I'll bet you a thousand. No, a thousand because that's too much. I'll bet you a hundred dollars anybody wants to take me. There is a tick podcast because you can't name anything there isn't a podcast for.
Matt
So if I check and there is, I owe you 100 bucks.
Joe Soucheray
Yes.
Matt
I didn't take the bet.
John Hight
Can we make it a buck?
Joe Soucheray
Okay, make it a dollar. Make it a dollar. In sports, why don't you look it up, moron? Instead of just talking, look it up. No.
Chris Reavers
Several podcasts provide expert information on tick identification.
Joe Soucheray
Thank you. I want a dollar from everybody.
Chris Reavers
Like Lyme disease. Chia episodes include NPR's Life Kit on protecting yourself from ticks.
Josh Arnold
Wow.
Chris Reavers
How do you say this word? O L O G I E S. Oligarchs.
Joe Soucheray
No. Anyway, they're communist chicks. They're communist chicks.
Chris Reavers
Also available on Spotify and Apple. You can check out the podcast called Tick Tick Boom.
Joe Soucheray
I'm telling you, you name a topic, there's a podcast.
Kenny Olson
What about tick boot camp. I like that podcast.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, I'm seeing that one too, Ken.
Joe Soucheray
Good call.
Matt
Is that the number one tick podcast out there?
Joe Soucheray
I don't know, Matt. What? What is. You could look it up again, but you sit there with your.
Josh Arnold
Right there.
Kenny Olson
Hey, speaking of extremely, extremely boring subjects, Joe, how are your lilacs doing? I'm seeing lilacs blooming down in the chanhave scenario.
Joe Soucheray
White bear. I got no today white bear. They're bl. Mine are not blooming yet. They're gonna be right on track like they have for the last 150 years.
Kenny Olson
I wonder if wood ticks live on lilac bushes.
Joe Soucheray
I hope not, Kenny. I really hope not.
Chris Reavers
Isn't it normally Memorial Day?
Joe Soucheray
You know, poor John Height's been waiting to do his news.
John Hight
Well, I started it, I'm sorry to say. So let me say. And I can't remember if I said this long ago when I started, but this news is brought to you by North American Banking company. In sports, the Wolves tie up their series with the spurs two games apiece with a target center last night. They will play the all important game five in San Antonio tomorrow night before heading back here for game six. And that one, you got an extra day rest. They play on Friday night, huh? Here for game six, the Wild will play game four of their series. As we've said with Colorado Tonight here in St. Paul, the ABS lead the series two games to one.
Joe Soucheray
Basketball would be far more interesting to me if I knew the rules. You know, I've been watching it all my life. You'd think I know. I was a sports writer. I don't know the rules.
John Hight
Well, that's me in hockey. It'd be more interesting if I knew all the rules.
Joe Soucheray
I mean, Jokic and who's the big tall Frenchman? We got Rudy. They can lean on each other and grunt and groan and shove each other around. No foul. Then some little twerp goes to the shoots a three and somebody touches him on the arm. Oh, a little. Little finger on the arm and that's a foul. I don't know what the rules are.
John Hight
If you called every time somebody got pushed, the games would take eight hours. If you called fouls on.
Kenny Olson
What about an elbow to the face
Joe Soucheray
that I was in favor of that donkey getting kicked out of the game. Yeah, that was intentional.
John Hight
Yeah. Not a good thing.
Matt
Lilac bushes can provide shelter, but are not a primary habitat for ticks.
Joe Soucheray
Thank you.
Matt
Yeah.
John Hight
In news, I look it up. The legislature heading to its final week, let's just say not a Whole lot's been done so far.
Joe Soucheray
No, they don't really accomplish much to make life wonderful in Wasota.
John Hight
We'll just wait and see if they can get anything done before things wrap up at the end of this week.
Kenny Olson
Would we prefer a longer session or a shorter?
Joe Soucheray
How about a session about once every five years?
John Hight
One person is dead, another hospitalized after an early morning crash in south Minneapolis that sent a Metro Transit bus into a home. Happened about 4 this morning. 10th Avenue south and East 38th street on the border of the Bancroft and Powderhorn park neighborhoods. A spokesperson for Metro Transit Police says that a truck was speeding south down 10th Avenue when it ran through a stop sign, hit the back of the eastbound bus, ripping a tire off the bus, sending the bus into the front of a home. The driver of the truck died at the scene, according to Metro Transit Police, while the driver of the bus taken to a hospital. The driver is expected to be okay. Officials say nobody besides the driver was on the bus at the time because it hadn't yet started service for the morning. And the home the bus hit was also empty at the time. An investigation is continuing as authorities try to figure out what led up to the crash.
Joe Soucheray
How fast did that truck have to be going to shove a giant bus, almost the length of the bus into a house?
Kenny Olson
And he was on 10th. He wasn't on 38th. The bus was on 38th.
Joe Soucheray
God Almighty.
Kenny Olson
Speeding truck was on 10th.
Joe Soucheray
I don't get it.
Kenny Olson
By the way, that's just a few blocks east of Chicago. Sorry, Chris.
Chris Reavers
No, I was going to say Ken, because I think I said this to you guys a couple of days ago once they closed all these freeways. So my route changed a little bit where I have to drive through campus. These semis are going down University Avenue going 50 plus miles an hour.
Joe Soucheray
I'm not seeing that. Are you kidding? Thankfully, I have not seen that.
Chris Reavers
It's really bad. And that's the first thing I thought of when I saw this story, that there's going to be more of this this summer because they're eroding all of this freeway traffic on these city streets right now.
John Hight
An apparent standoff resolved after nearly 12 hours in Glencoe. First Lutheran Church and school had said in a social media post this morning it would be closed while an active incident continued near the building. McLeod County Sheriff's Office said it concluded at about 8:30. An administrator confirmed the church reopened, but school did remain closed for the day today, classes resuming tomorrow. McLeod County Sheriff's Office asked the public to avoid the area last night, citing only a law enforcement presence. The area located right behind the school where children typically play during recess. School said parents were notified last night about the possibility of school being canceled. Law enforcement officials have not yet shared any details about what happened. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office investigating a shooting in Fridley Saturday night that left a woman in critical condition. According to the Sheriff's office, the shooting was reported around 9 o' clock in the area of Interstate 694 and University Avenue Northeast in Fridley. A woman reportedly was driving an SUV when she was shot by an occupant of a separate vehicle. The SUV then left the roadway stopped near the Interstate 694 ramp. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment. A juvenile passenger was in the vehicle at the time, too, but was not injured. Police haven't said much about it, have not said whether or not it was a random incident and People in the Lakeville Area School District will vote Tomorrow on a $139 million bond refer District 194 said the money would be used to fund additions and renovations at its middle schools. The district says over the past Decade, K through 12 enrollment has increased by about 1200 students there. The district says that if approved, the estimated tax impact based on a five hundred thousand dollar average home value at Lakeville would be about fourteen bucks per month. Why don't we take a quick break here and hear from Mr. Chris Reivers?
Chris Reavers

Chris Reavers
That's what I do.
John Hight
John US President Trump today said he intends to suspend the federal tax on gasoline to help Americans shoulder higher fuel prices caused by the war with Iran, Trump answered yes when asked if he would suspend the federal gas tax. He said the price of oil and gas would drop like a rock. Iraq as soon as hostilities are over. Asked how long the suspension would last, he said until it's appropriate.
Chris Reavers
Oh, he's got to get the horn.
Joe Soucheray
I know.
John Hight
President CHRIS that's okay. The federal gas tax is 18.4 cents per gallon of gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon of diesel. The standoff over the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key transit point for the world's oil and natural gas exports, has sent fuel prices skyrocketing and has rattled the world fuel markets.
Kenny Olson
389 a gallon in my town.
Joe Soucheray
Everywhere else is 409 in Columbia.
Kenny Olson
Yeah, everywhere else is over $4.
Joe Soucheray
That's not bad compared to here's 419
John Hight
up in my neck of the woods at most places.
Chris Reavers
I spent 388 this morning at Coburn's. No, but I do the. I do the E88 gas.
Joe Soucheray
Well, you do. The garbage car will stop any moment.
Chris Reavers
Yeah, I don't think I'd blow up on 169.
Kenny Olson
Even the farmers provide corn. Don't use.
John Hight
President Trump rejecting Iran's response to that US proposal for peace talks, dashing hopes for an imminent end of the 10 week old conflict. Days after the US floated an offer in the hopes of reopening negotiations, Iran released a response yesterday focused on ending the war on all fronts, they said, especially in Lebanon and on the safety of shipping through the blockaded Strait of Hormuz. However, the president answered on social media saying I don't like and in capital letters saying totally unacceptable. The president wrote, oil prices rose 3 bucks a barrel after the US and Iran failed to reach an agreement. White House Correspondents association dinner shooting suspect Cole Thomas Allen today pleaded not guilty to charges that include trying to assassinate President Trump. Allen, who allegedly tried to storm the ballroom of the Washington Hilton armed with a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives, entered his plea before Judge Trevor McFadden at the U.S. district Court for the District of Columbia. He pleaded not guilty to all four counts against him. Allen stands accused of trying to assassinate Trump on April 25, transporting firearms, interstate discharge of a firearm during an act of violence, and assault on law enforcement. He is next set to appear in court on June 29 for a status conference.
Joe Soucheray
You'll notice that Walls has never fired anybody. He just keeps moving them around.
Matt
Shuffle.
John Hight
President Trump said his hand picked contractor would charge only $1.8 million to repair the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool and paint it blue. The actual cost is now more than seven times that, though, after the Interior Department nearly doubled the size of the contract late last week. On Friday, the interior department added 6.2 million to the contract contract's previous costs, saying it now planned to pay $13.1 million to a Virginia firm called Atlantic Industrial Coatings.
Joe Soucheray
They Trump's buddies?
John Hight
Yeah. President Trump said he chose that company to repair the landmark because the firm had worked on his swimming pools at his golf club in Sterling, Virginia.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, I see.
John Hight
The government awarded that firm a no bid contract.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, no bid. Okay. Yeah.
John Hight
And that, well, that bypassed a requirement that the government has to see.
Joe Soucheray
But you keep loving him G ele. He's not stealing a nickel from you. Not a nickel.
Kenny Olson
Is this the same contractor who built the light rail line out to the West Metro?
Joe Soucheray
Yes, it is like the same. He's in the pool business and the train business.
John Hight
Yeah, yeah. Bypass the requirement to seek competing offers by saying the situation was so urgent.
Joe Soucheray
How urgent was it?
Matt
Situation?
John Hight
That any delay would cause what they called serious injury to the government.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, sure.
John Hight
Government has not publicly said what that injury would have been. Today, a non profit dedicated to landscape architecture filed a lawsuit in U.S. district Court in Washington trying to halt the paint job. The Cultural Landscape foundation said that the Trump administration had ignored a law requiring advanced scrutiny of projects that alter historic landmarks.
Joe Soucheray
I'm not terribly knowledgeable about the reflecting pool, but it's been there for many, many decades. What was wrong with it? Why? Or this guy, Trump's buddy, just needs some money.
Kenny Olson
Smelt like rotten eggs.
Joe Soucheray
Well, it's going to now. The only way it won't is if you install filters in it. And apparently there are no filters in it.
Kenny Olson
That's smelt with a T. Smelled like rotten eggs.
John Hight
Smelt.
Kenny Olson
Yeah.
John Hight
The Trump administration issued a new policy Friday that allows major tobacco and vape companies to begin selling flavored e cig, delivering a win to top donors after a year of paring back federal tobacco control efforts. The policy announced hours after President Trump reportedly signed off on a plan to fire Dr. Marty McCary, the Food and Drug Administration commissioner who has resisted allowing sales of flavored vapes for months over concerns about their appeal to young people. Trump did later say he was not aware of plans to oust Dr. Makari, but this morning, apparently according to the administration, those plans are moving forward.
Joe Soucheray
He was aware
John Hight
US authorities said they'd repatriated 18American passengers from that cruise ship that was hit by the rare hantavirus outbreak, transporting them to a specialist quarantine center. After one tested positive and another showed symptoms, the repatriated passengers disembarked the MV Hondius and landed in the US Today for evaluation at a specialized quarantine facility, according to officials from the Department of Health and Human Services. An earlier social media post From HHS said 17Americans were being repatriated. Discrepancy health officials didn't explain during Monday's news conference.
Chris Reavers
What's that word? I've never heard that word before.
John Hight
Which one?
Chris Reavers
Repatriated.
John Hight
Repatriated.
Chris Reavers
What does that mean?
Joe Soucheray
I've heard it many times.
Chris Reavers
Welcome back.
John Hight
Back.
Kenny Olson
Welcome back.
Chris Reavers
What is it?
Joe Soucheray
You're back in the fold.
Kenny Olson
Means welcome back to the usa.
Chris Reavers
Gotcha. Repatriated. I learned more here by accident than elsewhere.
Joe Soucheray
Well, not really. That was pretty commonly known.
Kenny Olson
You very, very.
Chris Reavers
That's a ble almost. That's teetering on bleep that word like
Kenny Olson
a 500 year old.
John Hight
I gotta go with Joe on this one, Chris.
Joe Soucheray
I'm sorry.
Chris Reavers
Jesus, you know, I'm so effing glad I get to work with you guys every day.
Joe Soucheray
Repatriated.
Kenny Olson
Mean Clamvas actually used that on his second voyage over.
Matt
Means you worked in World War I
Joe Soucheray
and you came back for two.
Matt
You're a repatriate. Repatriate.
Joe Soucheray
Okay.
John Hight
A Frontier Airlines.
Kenny Olson
The alternate definition.
John Hight
Yes, Airlines Jet preparing to depart Denver International Airport for LA hit and killed the pedestrian on the Runway Friday night. That apparently triggered an engine fire and a chaotic scene later captured and disturbing videos circulating online. According to airport officials, the pedestrian had breached a perimeter fence roughly two minutes before the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene. The person has not been publicly identified, is not believed to have been an airport employee. On Sunday, airport CEO Phil Washington sought to reassure the public, saying, safety is paramount in everything we do in aviation and at that airport. We know there are questions still to be answered.
Joe Soucheray
Well, two things. One, you got sucked into the engine.
John Hight
Yeah.
Kenny Olson
Okay. Thank you.
Joe Soucheray
And two, pedestrian is the wrong word. That makes it sound like people are just out for a stroll.
Chris Reavers
Good point.
Joe Soucheray
Pedestrian's the wrong word.
Kenny Olson
He's an interloper or state patrol dispatch. For some reason, there's a radio code for them. They call them 49ers. Okay, there's a 10.49er. Today we had one that crossed about six lanes of traffic on 94 by the Brooklyn center curve. Cost all. Excuse me. Crossed all lanes of eastbound.
Joe Soucheray
Oh.
Kenny Olson
Hopped to the concrete median fence. Then crossed all lanes of westbound.
Joe Soucheray
See, that's not a pedestrian.
Chris Reavers
Was he late to do his show with Judd?
Joe Soucheray
Repatriated.
Chris Reavers
Repatriated.
Joe Soucheray
Repatriated.
John Hight
Repatriated.
Joe Soucheray
Repatriated.
John Hight
There you go.
Chris Reavers
But this is. That's in reference to a prisoner of war. These people weren't prisoners of war.
Joe Soucheray
Well, same thing.
John Hight
Prisoners of the ship.
Joe Soucheray
Repatriated. Close enough.
John Hight
Hero story. I have a hero story for you. Four passengers on board a motorboat that had capsized between the waters of the islands of Meraisin and Bataan in Kulasi are safe after the incident. I have no idea where these places are.
Joe Soucheray
I don't. I've never heard of any of these places. No.
John Hight
It's near something called Antique. And I thought it was supposed to be Antigua, but I looked it up and there is an antique.
Joe Soucheray
Where's that at, I wonder?
John Hight
I didn't really look. I don't know.
Joe Soucheray
Well, you're the least curious news guy I've ever met in my life. The least curious news guy I've ever met in my life.
John Hight
Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Broderick Train said in an interview the passengers were on their way home to the island of Bataan when the incident happened. How were they rescued?
Chris Reavers
How, John?
Joe Soucheray
What difference it make? We don't even know where this is.
John Hight
Is the adult pass. I want you to get a globe and look back.
Joe Soucheray
Look it up, rook. Where's the island of Antique?
John Hight
Just like it's spelled.
Joe Soucheray
Just like an old thing.
Matt
In the Philippines area.
Joe Soucheray
Okay, I'll take that.
Matt
Yeah.
John Hight
How were they rescued? Back to that, huh? The adult passengers clung to the capsized boat while a 12 year old passenger swam for two hours from the boat to a nearby island.
Joe Soucheray
We know where that island is.
John Hight
And alert alerted authorities.
Matt
I'll be back with the little boat.
John Hight
60 year old Dante Salvador, who was apparently the driver of the boat, also managed to swim to the shorelines. But according to the story, he apparently swam to a different island that wasn't identified. Joe.
Joe Soucheray
Okay, that was Gilligan's Island.
Matt
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
Dante. Dante. What was his last name?
John Hight
Salvador.
Joe Soucheray
That's giving us a hint. We're in the south somewhere. All four passengers who were supposed frozen, by the way.
Matt
Oh.
John Hight
Supposedly on their way home from Kulasi town proper, were now returned to their families, according to the police.
Joe Soucheray
Boy, that's. That was pretty useful.
John Hight
Police said the motorboat was also retrieved by the Philippine Coast Guard.
Joe Soucheray
Oh.
John Hight
And maritime police.
Joe Soucheray
Somewhere in the Philippines.
Kenny Olson
You said it twice now, Matthew, what do you think of when you hear John say motorboat?
Josh Arnold
I already.
Joe Soucheray
You know what I was wondering? That's what I was wondering. What kind of motor. Wonder if it was a inboard or an out drive or an outboard.
Kenny Olson
I was thinking, Jacob, this was more of a manual.
John Hight
Let me leave you with one story to keep you worried. Okay?
Joe Soucheray
All right.
John Hight
The water levels of the Euphrates river, river located in the so called cradle of civilization, are dropping.
Joe Soucheray
This up near your Egypt area.
John Hight
It's. Yeah, it's. Well, Turkey.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah, it's in that area.
John Hight
Yeah. Anyway, there's Biblical Johnson.
Chris Reavers
There we go.
John Hight
The biblical end times prophecy some people think may be unfolding.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, just give me a week's notice, please.
John Hight
Shrinking Euphrates, Western Asia's longest river, cuts through one of the Bible's most important regions. The waterway plays a crucial role in the book of Revelation. And a prophecy linked to its role has generated significant anxiety online as it predicts the end times and Christ's second coming. Revelation 16:12. Revolution. Revelation 16:12 reads, the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east. Many believes this serves as a warning that once the Euphrates runs dry, which is what's happening now, now a massive army from the east will advance across the riverbed toward the battle of Armageddon. The verse represents the second biblical prophecy regarding the Euphrates drying up, with the first one being a drought on her waters. They will dry up, for it is the land of idols. Idols that will go mad with terror.
Joe Soucheray
Well, I. You know what? I'm not going to worry about it.
Matt
Who are those kings from the east, by the way? Can't we have a bazaar?
Joe Soucheray
And Melchior and Beelzebub and Murr? No, Mer was short for Murray.
Matt
Hey, King Murray. How you doing?
Joe Soucheray
I don't think there was a King Murray.
Matt
Murr we're gonna call you Murr.
Joe Soucheray
John, thank you so much coming from the east.
Matt
Okay, let's go get them.
Chris Reavers
Let me get you repatriated.
Matt
Thank you.
Chris Reavers

Joe Soucheray
This guy wears many hats, just not indoors. Joe Sucra.
Kenny Olson
Yeah. When it comes to your lawn, the weeds, the bare spots, you can, you can do all this yourself and hope for the best or you can get hooked up, up with pro turf and have the best lawn on the block. The decision is yours. I highly Recommend using professional turf.com you doing it the correct way. If I sound disappointed, it's because I am driving Minnehaha Parkway on Sunday, yesterday morning between Nicollet and Harriet. Some of you people living in these eight million dollar homes, you, you need all three divisions of professional turf. I mean, your house is lovely. Your yard though, stinks. It's just awful. You need to approach her to come in there, pull all of that crap out of your front yard, completely redesign everything. Maybe put in a rock wall or a flower garden or something, have them put down some sod, have them do an irrigation service. You need every division, pro turf has to fix up that, that front yard of yours. You should be embarrassed. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. When you hire pro turf, you hire the ab Absolute best, their landscaping division, they can do you Know what curb appeal is? That's what you need and that's what pro turf can give you, curb appeal. You log on to professionalturf.com, set up a free estimate and have both divisions, have the landscaping division come out and then have the lawn treatment division come out and put together a program that's going to get rid of all those bare spots and fill out that lawn and get rid of of that. Those weeds, they just look awful. Really, seriously, I'm really, really upset by what I saw. And I know the only thing that's going to make it better is by you logging on to professional turf dot com. There, I got it off my chest.
Joe Soucheray
Feel better now? Today's flag update. Patrick Hughes writes just a note to let you know that here in Winstead, Minnesota, we proudly fly the true flag.
Chris Reavers
We got a lot of GL ers out there too, by the way, in
Joe Soucheray
Winston, Laura LaBerge writes. Joe, my sister lives in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, and she lets me know they are flying the old Minnesota flag. Thank you, Laura. Did I say Linda? It's Laura LaBerge. There's Laura's. Mr. Mayor, during my weekend trip to my hometown of Stephen, Minnesota to help my brother with spring planning, I was fortunate enough to drive by the city park. Not only did they fly the US Flag and POW flags, but also the true Minnesota flag. Small town pride at its best. Also, my understanding is that the governor's fishing opener was switched to Spoon Lake at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. Reports are that Governor Cockwamble invited all the children from the Learning center on his 14 foot lunge for a full day of fishing. What an inspiration to us all. Sincerely, Joel Nelson, Detroit Lakes. So we're adding Stephen, Minnesota. Jay Black. You can add Danube and Clara City to the towns flying the true flag each at a memorial for our veterans. Just did that one. All right. Excuse me. Here's a guy. Darren sent me a flat a picture of him flying the GL flag and the American flag. Tom Lochner. I am proud to announce that the unincorporated community of Payson island in Saginaw Bay, Rainy Lake Voyager national park, has and will continue to fly the true flag. We would be honored to join the growing list of communities supporting traditional Minnesota values and protesting the current incompetent administration. That's fantastic. Kelly Wing, who has created a website down in the Carolina. Good morning, Mayor. Since its inception seven days ago, the website, actually this was dated Friday, May 8th. The website www.therealflag1word.com has 1,435 unique visitors from 39 different American states, including foreign visits from the UK, Thailand, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, the Dominican Republic, Austria, Panama, Romania, Spain, Laos and Croatia. The total number of combined municipalities in Minnesota flying the true flag is now at 99. Many thanks to Glers for sending their updates. That's from Kelly Wing. Thank you Kelly. Sue Risbrute writes Ashby, Minnesota. You will see in the attached photo the Ashby Community team taken from inside Ashby City hall where the true Minnesota flag is displayed. Displayed fraud flags are nowhere to be seen in this area. You guys are with me as I walk the Central Lakes Bike Trail every day. Keep pushing back soon. All right, there's that. Keith Wilkie writes, It isn't just Minnesota cities and counties that continue to use the true flag. Take a look at the Facebook page for Parker's Prairie Agricultural Education and faa. My hometown today was drive your tractor to school day n the photos in their Facebook post for this event. Yep, even the kids life is better away from those tallest buildings. I will add that. And at least 20 miles from I don't know what that meant. All right, thank you. Roger Stangle. Please watch the video of drive your tractor day to school in piers Minnesota. Hope it puts a smile on your face and notice the true Minnesota flag being flown in piers Minnesota. All right, Katie Tierney. That's the one. She's the forgotten GL er, isn't she?
Matt
Yes.
Joe Soucheray
Hail the Flashlight King. Hail you. This weekend I drove my daughter in a U Haul full of the detritus collected over four years at the University of Alabama across these great United States. We started in Tuscaloosa and ended 1000 miles later in East Union, Minnesota. I am happy to report that we traveled through Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Iowa and did not see a single fraud flag. Of course, once we got back to Minnesota, those nasty sphincter looking flags were more frequent. But it was so nice to travel for so long without seeing one. Glorious even. I just wanted to report back so that you could maybe add those states to your scroll. Well, no, we're not adding a Obviously they're not going to fly the Minnesota flag. I mean, they're not flying the old flag, but they're also not flying the new one. That should count for something. Now you don't understand the assignment, Katie. Also, can someone please ask Reivers why on earth he enjoys road trips? If another semi truck passed me on i35 driving like an idiot, I was going to drive into the woods and become a forest hermit just waiting to move Back to Texas and exit this sand Kennedy. Katie Tierney, East Union, Minnesota.
Kenny Olson
Get off the freeway, get on a highway.
Joe Soucheray
I have a statement to make from the mayor's office of Garage Logic. There are outliers who are accusing us of racism because we favor the true flag. You think what you want, there's no solving your brains. We honor the old flag. First of all, it was updated in 1983. We honor the old flag because it represented this state when it was in the hands of adult leadership. I don't recognize the flag brought to us by fraudsters. I don't recognize a flag engineered whimsically by the Walz administration. It's that same simple. It has nothing to do with race. It has nothing to do with Native Americans. It has nothing to do with anything except the true flag, as we've been calling it, represents the state when it was actually a state that functioned competently. It no longer does. And the same people who engineered the fraud are bringing you this new flag. I reject it. I will not own one. That's why we're honoring the towns and communities and cities throughout Minnesota that fly the old flag. And that is the same reason they're flying it. It has nothing to do with race. It has nothing to do with sexism. It has nothing to do with anything except the old flag represented the state of Minnesota when the state of Minnesota was a worthy place to be. Be. Thank you for your attention.
Josh Arnold
Here, here.
Joe Soucheray
To this matter.
Kenny Olson
Did you get her cat butt reference?
Joe Soucheray
The shrink?
Josh Arnold
Katie.
Kenny Olson
Katie. Yeah, yeah, it's. It's been called the cat butt flag because it represents the hind end of a kitty cat starred vent there.
Joe Soucheray
To me, it's the fraud flag.
Kenny Olson
The clowns in Alexandria that have been flying the new fraud flag flag, they must have put them up the day after they were created because the light
Joe Soucheray
blue part, it's already faded.
Kenny Olson
It's all white.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, my.
Kenny Olson
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
Now, the other day, the traveling Lyman's told me they were docking in Victoria, British Columbia, before they could go to Seattle. And I was just wondering what that's all about. And Tom Lyman answers. It's due to the Jones Act, a merchant marine act of new 1920, which does not allow a ship which is registered in a foreign country to sail from a U.S. port to another U.S. port without first going to a non U.S. port. Well, I don't know, being. No, they left Kona, Hawaii. That's a US port. So they couldn't land at a US Port. The ship could not come straight to Seattle. It had to go to A non US port.
Chris Reavers
First they had to get repatriated.
Kenny Olson
What the hell?
Matt
Sounds like a stupid rule, doesn't it?
Kenny Olson
What?
Joe Soucheray
The Jones Act, John.
Matt
Yeah, the old Jonesy.
John Hight
Hey, before you do this too, I have a question for Kenny and Joe.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah.
John Hight
You went this whole show and you didn't bring up once the big UFO reveal from Friday.
Joe Soucheray
I think it's just another dodge by Trump. Somebody must have been getting ready to accuse him of something else. Also, he comes up with the UFO thing.
John Hight
Why do you think I asked the question?
Kenny Olson
I meant the biggest. And I mean the biggest Trump. This, this. What is it called? Yes.
Matt
Derangement.
Kenny Olson
I've never met anybody who has it worse than him. Except Joe Sushir.
Joe Soucheray
No, the people who think Trump is the answer to anything have Trump derangements.
Kenny Olson
You're the sole person on the planet that thinks that.
Joe Soucheray
I don't think so. No, I don't think so.
Kenny Olson
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
This guy is the biggest. He. He is the biggest fraud and thief ever to occupy.
Kenny Olson
You can blame anything on Trump.
Joe Soucheray
Anything I do.
Kenny Olson
I blame everything. Democratic politicians in Minnesota, everything gets blamed on Trump.
Joe Soucheray
The Jones Act.
Matt
I think he's opener baiting you right now.
Joe Soucheray
I don't care. What have we done since the ladd podcast? On May 8, we arrived in Seattle, Washington. We got off the ship and ended the cruise. Our friends picked us up at the Seattle Cruise pier and we drove to Vancouver, Washington, where we will stay for four days. All right, so only because they come to us now from the traveling linemans who are back on land in the United States. It was on this day, Joe. Today is May 11th in 1844. Samuel R. Van Zant was born in Rock Island, Illinois. He later became Minnesota's 15th governor, 1901-1905, and established the state Board of Control to handle issues affecting criminals and people with mental disabilities. He died on October 3, 1936. In 19 Attica, Indiana, and his some of his distant relatives are little Stevie Van Zant and some other Van Zands. Richie.
Chris Reavers
On this day, Joe, today is May 11th.
Joe Soucheray
Well, it was on this day in 1858, Minnesota became the 32nd state. And look how far we've fallen. The Enabling act for statehood has been passed, had been passed on February 26, 1857, and the state's constitution was written that summer and ratified in October. Full statehood had been held up by Southern senators who wanted Kansas to enter the Union as a slave state. Finally approved by Congress, the bill was signed by President James Buchanan. Word of state knighthood did not reach St. Paul until May 13th. Well, that's. That's nothing. That's only two days. Somebody was riding a fast horse.
Matt
Yeah, right.
Joe Soucheray
On this day, like the Derby or something. On this day, May 11. In 1869, the Lindbergh Colony of Swedish settler colonists headed by Mons Olsten Lindbergh, arrived in St Paul. The group eventually settled in Sherburne County. On this day in sports. Thank you. On this day in sports, disappointment history.
Chris Reavers
Joe, who'd we lose to on May 11th?
Joe Soucheray
On this day in 1977. And I was there to see it. Dwight Bobick lost to ken Norton in 58 seconds. And I said, boy, what a fight.
Josh Arnold
Oops.
Joe Soucheray
And that was a mistake because Ken Norton then picked me up by the throat and said, who are you calling boy? And I said, no, sir. I meant, holy cow. Wow. You know, holy mackerel, what a fight.
Chris Reavers
How much urine left your body when that happened?
Joe Soucheray
All of it. Okay, we're finishing. And then, years later.
Matt
Thank you.
Joe Soucheray
He came to St. Paul to train to fight Scott Ledoux. And he was alone in a room in the St. Paul Auditorium. Auditorium. And I walked over to him, and as he looked at me walking across the room, when I got up to him, he said, don't you call me boy.
Matt
He saw the fear in you.
Joe Soucheray
Which showed me something. He was a hell of a guy. You know, he was.
Kenny Olson
He was playing.
Joe Soucheray
He was playing. And he had a hell of a memory. On this day, Joe.
Chris Reavers
Today is May 11th in 1982.
Joe Soucheray
On this day, May 11th is part of Calvin Griffiths House Club cleaning. Rob Wilfong and Doug Corbett were traded because they probably were making $10 too much.
Matt
Rob Wilfong was second base. Corbett was third. Correct.
Joe Soucheray
I don't think Corbett was an infielder.
Chris Reavers
I thought he was a pitcher.
Joe Soucheray
Pitcher. I think he was a reliever, you idiot. Which tells me that Pat's in the house. Yes, it is. He's in the green green room preparing. Thank you.
Matt
G. Ellers caught a couple games in 77, didn't he?
Joe Soucheray
No, he did not.
Chris Reavers

And he will always give you the straight talk, he will never give you the sugar coated advice and he is on the line with us once again right here in garagelogic. And boy Josh, I know you were in New York City, the entertainment capital of the world and whether it comes to sports or anything else, man, there's a lot to glean from the market, isn't there?
Josh Arnold
There is a lot to clean. New York is I tell you what, you definitely have to have a New York state of mind as Billy Joel likes to say or has said. The city was was hopping over the weekend and I was, I was there not only for Mother's Day visiting my daughter, son in law and grandson but also there to celebrate 50th year his rabbinat. One of my good friends from high school and college, David Gelfand was honored for 50 a rabbi. Very very interesting service and it was a chance to see some very old friends from again both high school and college at this service. But sports is still key as well as eating in New York and my daughter and son in law as my significant other are big sports fans whether the Yankees, the Twins, whether the Rangers or the Wild or the Timberwolves or the New York Knicks. And they also like to put put a few shekels down on some of the games using they use primarily draftkings although my daughter has experimented with some of the predictions markets which another story altogether but I did find it very very interesting and watching particularly the 76ers lose in four games to the Knick and the Knick definitely dominated the 76ers, a team that had just we'll say a week before four had come back from behind to eliminate the Celtic in the first series. But as the Knicks go and we say to the extent the Rangers go, so goes Madison Square Garden. Fort which owns both the Knick and the Rangers, I'll say, as well as the God Madison Madison Square Garden. And you can probably extend that out to some of the other entities that are owned not only by Madison Square Garden Garden Sports, but also Madison Square Garden Entertainment, which adds in the sphere in Las Vegas and Radio City Music hall in New York, among other properties. But with the I'll say the Rangers doing okay this year and the Nick surging these Madison Square Garden has also surged this year. Now of course there's always the belief that the Dolan family, which controls Madison Square Garden Sports and Entertainment Entertainment, will at some point leave the scene or sell a good chunk of their position. And many say that the Dolan family's ownership of Madison Square Garden Sports and the sports properties has not led to the championships that New Yorkers definitely end up vision. But here is another we'll say sports or leisure oriented. Actually two leisure oriented companies that let you participate if you're a big big fan in a two we'll say renowned. So sports franchises, both the Knicks and the Rangers, of course, you know, the stock price, you know, could well move up or down on their prospects. That said, you know, the Knicks and the Rangers are still, you know, hot properties. Are they as hot as the Yankees or the Jefferson Giants or even the New York Jets? Not so much. Oh, I forgot the Mets in New York. But these still are premier properties. And one of the few ways that you can participate, I'll say as a fan who's interested in basketball or hockey in the ownership or even sports ownership and the ownership of these teams. The other publicly traded sports team of course is the Atlanta Braves which is part of Liberty Media's conglomerate. And you know, most of the time these teams are undervalued by their, by the stock prices versus versus Private, private value. But in I'll say today's you know, more volatile markets, I have found that leisure related stocks do offer an alternative and have typically been not as volatile and still have the potential for some upside going forward. Indeed, you know my the focus that I have and have had for many years, not only for myself but for my clients is focusing in on companies around the Internet which now includes the build out of artificial intelligence and data centers which has really boosted chips and has given a nice lift to favorites Apple and Amazon and then focusing in on leisure related companies. And we've given you a few with Madison Square Garden, Madison Square Square Garden Entertainment and the Atlanta Braves.
Chris Reavers
Excellent advice as always, Mr. MoneyTalk. You heard him G ers. Podcast: Garage Logic
Host: Joe Soucheray (“The Mayor”) with Chris Reavers, Kenny Olson, John Hight, Matt, and Josh Arnold
Episode Theme:
A blend of local Minnesota issues (with a critical focus on state political leadership, specifically Amy Klobuchar and recent fraud scandals), Soucheray’s observations from a trip to South Carolina, and quintessential Garage Logic banter about daily life, state pride, and community sensibility.
This episode revolves around three main threads:
“It’s not plausible that Amy Klobuchar, the state’s principal DFL figure…has not always been aware of fraud.” — Joe Soucheray (25:50)
“We honor the old flag because it represented this state when it was in the hands of adult leadership…It has nothing to do with race.” — Joe Soucheray (80:26)
“I didn’t sense there was this undercurrent of bringing about the destruction of western civilization.” — Joe Soucheray (08:32)
“These tough questions, they went away. So this has been carefully manipulated all along.” — Joe Soucheray (30:02)
“I’m driving by $5 million mansions…and my truck is bouncing like I’m driving through a minefield.” — Kenny Olson (14:15)
“She [Klobuchar] is the godfather of the Minnesota DFL. Okay. Godmother of the Minnesota DFL.” — Joe Soucheray (30:37)
“You name a topic, there’s a podcast.” — Joe Soucheray (50:10) “They also call the new flag the cat butt flag… because it represents the hind end of a kitty cat starred vent there.” — Kenny Olson (82:16)
The episode weaves serious political criticism and concern for state governance (with a focus on fraud, accountability, and the responsibilities of top Minnesota Democrats) together with signature Garage Logic nostalgia, cultural gripes, and comedic banter. Soucheray’s southern sojourn provides a backdrop for reflecting on “what works” in America—and what seems broken at home. Listeners are left with a mix of skepticism, pride, and stubborn hope; all served with the wry, sometimes sardonic, humor that defines Garage Logic.
