and now from the mayor's office above the boathouse on the east shore of spoon lake it's garage logic with chris reavers manning technology corner kenny olson from the crabby coffee shop john height in the newsroom and the rookie here is your flashlight king fireworks commissioner and the keeper of common sense your mayor joe susherer the other day we were talking about cargo bikes those are bikes on which you can pile four or five kids and all your items from the store and wheel around town and i got a note from chris jaraki in dallas texas who writes two years ago i met up with one of my daughters in amsterdam we had a lovely time but it was challenging to navigate the city in conjunction with the very robust bike culture woe betide the pedestrian who steps a toe into the many ubiquitous bike lanes it became immediately clear to us that the bikers gave no quarter to the pedestrians they whiz around past and sometimes through anyone whom they deem as in the way an uber driver told me that while there are one million residents in amsterdam there are three million bicycles it certainly felt like it i have included below a picture of one of the many bike suv's we saw they would often have a child or two along with bags of shopping in the cargo cab and usually a very fit looking mom pedaling furiously the most amusing sight we saw was a young man balancing a twelve pack of toilet paper on his handlebars as he roared past us the mysterians who pined for the european cafe and bike society should be reminded that our forebears left it behind so we could drive big cars to costco for forty eight packs of toilet paper from the edge of dallas chris now she sent a picture oh shoot let's see well the picture only shows the building in the background oh wow that building is there was a picture of the cargo bike but it was it the when i printed it it only captured the

beautiful edges is that a bit with
Joe Soucheray
you or is that real i'm sorry kenny unfortunately i think it's real joe
Matthew
ask i have a real question though about this story what is it with bikers bicycle riders why do they hate everybody else on the road including other bicycle riders what is that where's that
Joe Soucheray
come from i don't know but reminds me of my famous trump's fault reminds me of my famous favorite story where an acquaintance of mine was running on river boulevard and a biker came up behind him and hectored him get out of my way get out of my way yeah and the runner said i believe i have a right to be on this running path it's a walking and running path get out of my way can't you see and so this acquaintance of mine stopped and the biker got off his bike as though he would be intending to have some sort of confrontation square off and my acquaintance walked over and picked up his twelve hundred dollars bike and threw it off the cliff down below the franklin avenue
Matthew
bridge that's the best story i've ever
Joe Soucheray
and the last thing he heard was the guy's cleats clicking over the rocks trying to get down there and get over his bicycle i don't know i've run into many polite bicyclists if you
Matthew
ride a bicycle that's not a ten speed race bike or a mountain bike or a fat tire bike and you're wearing like say well cut off jeans yeah and chuck taylor's they hate you
Joe Soucheray
what about the people with the olive oil labels on their jerseys they they're
Matthew
the one i think they're the instigators they're the ones that ride in the middle of the street instead of the bike path which is right there it's right there five feet away but you
Joe Soucheray
know in my my new life yeah i've i've tried to get along with
Kenny Olson
the cyclists okay you i don't branch
Joe Soucheray
sort of yeah okay yeah when did
Chris Reivers
the new life begin i you know
Joe Soucheray
just recently you know what they are
Matthew
maybe last week they're the wasps of the human race none of us want to deal with them we just a wide berth around the wasps what if
Joe Soucheray
there was a bicycle spray now you're
Matthew
getting into my fantasies now before you
Kenny Olson
go i haven't traveled bridge in a while what have they done to the
Joe Soucheray
franklin avenue well you're you're joining those of us who have to cross the river twice to get here i am
Matthew
in the clue that was ten years ago and before it was a challenge with two lanes each way yeah now it's just a nightmare it's a what
Kenny Olson
is on either side are they both bike lanes yes eastbound and westbound yes
Joe Soucheray
okay yes may i say a few words about soccer you're here i'm sure it'll come up again with patrick but i just have some observations i had to do a lot of watering yesterday
Kenny Olson
sprinkling this is a new hobby for
Joe Soucheray
you yes okay so i would set the sprinkler and then i went back into the garage and watched a segment of the game until my time was up to move the sprinkler again got it so i saw a considerable amount i would say i saw thirty or forty minutes of that championship game between spain and argentina yeah thriller and it's no use getting ridiculous about it millions and millions of people around the world absolutely love this game and that frightens me that people see some merit in it that frightens me but that's your cup of tea and i was surrounded by some young girls yesterday they had it on they loved it okay that's fine do you realize it was a championship game in which one team did not have a single shot on goal yes argentina did not have a single shot on goal in regular time and then god only knows how they do this they added a bunch of extra time i don't get it in the extra time argentina argentina was recorded with two shots they were towards the net but neither of them involved the the goalie having to do anything okay so i looked it up wow i looked it up because that compelled well i'm trying to understand this i'm trying to understand truly curious i am that's never happened before in a world cup title match where one team doesn't have a shot on goal it's never happened how is that so then i further looked it up and i went to the the artificial intelligence and i say is it common in a soccer game for a team not to have a shot on goal and it is not common it is very uncommon it happens but it's very uncommon you would think that if you in some cases i saw videos of people risking their lives to get into that meadowlands yesterday because they crossed lanes of freeway traffic on foot because of a parking problem yes and they were scampering across the freeway if you're going to risk your life whack a mole to get to a soccer a world championship game apparently you're willing to accept the fact that one of the clubs does not get a single shot on goal now i tried to
Kenny Olson
one of the best teams in the
Joe Soucheray
world i tried to think of an analogy and i'm not sure i can come up with one would that be similar to a super bowl in which one team never gets a first down or runs a play or i guess that would be it never runs a
Chris Reivers
play you know who would be a big fan of never attempting a shot
Joe Soucheray
on goal well he's one of the guy that's right he was very defensive
Josh Arnold
one of the guy one of the
Joe Soucheray
players on our team i'm not done but then i'm willing to entertain the floor according to the athletic which is a sports news source the big star of the game was is it lionel messi lionel messi lionel messi he walked sixty two percent of the time in the game and then stood still and then stood still but he is to be lauded right no i'm not making this up because he was ready to pounce like a cat yes or somebody laying in the woods he was ready to pounce well if he was ready to pounce a he must have never pounced and b there was no shots on goal by his team
Matthew
so
Joe Soucheray
i'm not going to say anything untoward i'm pointing out some facts that i fail to understand the mystique and i'll just leave it at that i'm sure there is a mystique millions and tens and hundreds of millions of people can't be wrong right i watched a part of the game with yeah really matthew like
Kenny Olson
ten minutes or so i was running
Matthew
in and out what are the positions is it like hockey forwards defenseman center
Joe Soucheray
i believe so there's eleven people on a team you got your upwards and your backwards what do you have on
Chris Reivers
your mind well one of the shows that i listened to lauded lionel messi for one thing that you lack his
Joe Soucheray
patience patience another word for that is he knows how to rest he's which i don't blame him for he was thirty nine he's waiting for his opportunity he's no he's waiting to pounce pounce but apparently he did not successfully pounce
Kenny Olson
yesterday my wife said she as she watched the game the announcers were quite harsh towards the players just saying they're
Matthew
not doing anything why did she watch the game matthew and i'm not look i'm not this isn't a setup for
Kenny Olson
an insult we both just got caught up in the hey it's the championship game we watched it was first time half yeah we've never watched soccer before
Matthew
is it because it's here in the united states yeah i think there was a little gorbachev coming to town were
Chris Reivers
you were you both hand in hand
Kenny Olson
date night i was painting your toenails
Joe Soucheray
well i don't want to go into that what i want to say is what i want to say is i guess i've said it i don't understand the mystique i just i just don't get it and i think i think it's not in the american psyche to get it i think that america no matter how you want to look at it wants action well i heard a great results they want violence i heard
Chris Reivers
a great interview that said most of these countries that succeed so much in soccer there just isn't the type of opportunity that exists here in the united states which is meaning a great athletic kid growing up here is going to
Joe Soucheray
play basketball football hockey baseball whatever i can tell you why because that's where the money's been that kid can go make a living this argentina yeah right soccer turned me in to a flat out basketball fan the other thing and i've said this before and then i promise i will conclude the other thing i noticed is and i will include messi in this and he didn't walk he didn't he stood still he walked sixty three percent of the time i got an email from sean in illinois who notes that he cited the atlantic messi spent sixty three percent of the world cup walking twenty five percent standing still okay the thing i noticed is i could not discern different skill levels among the eleven players on the team they all to me had the same skill level they can dribble that ball and pass it and move around but i you mean like a pele i said this to patrick last week i never saw anyone who can do stuff by stuff i mean where was their michael jordan gretzky where was gretzky where was larry bird where was quinn hughes i never saw a player in fact i would say this if those players spend as much time figuring out how to rise above the average instead of doing incredible things with their bodies in order to fall down a superstar might arise now people who follow this game will say well messi is a superstar well okay okay i guess he'll take your word for it i don't see it but okay what would your solution be for i have no solution i think maybe it's so difficult to do anything with just a ball in your feet is there too much room that may well i said that too they got too many players on the field and the field's too big you know
Matthew
what it looks like to me is when we lived across from sibley park and we watched park league soccer and it was just a bunch of kids all of them chasing the balls that's what soccer looks to me everybody on the field chasing the ball the other
Joe Soucheray
thing i liked i liked when the team on attack got down near the goal they should have been scoring on is attack and they just said oh the hell with it and they went back to their own end for a
Matthew
while yeah is that an official term
Joe Soucheray
no it's mine it's mine the offensive team in control of the ball would sometimes get down into the defensive end and then they'd say let's start over
Kenny Olson
and they went back i'm not feeling
Joe Soucheray
it i'm not feeling it so they would return say hello to their goalie shoot the breeze for a while and
Chris Reivers
start over again so i'm making notes once you become the commissioner of the world cup so was it also problematic at times when you didn't know which team possessed the ball because that was a bit tricky for me as well
Joe Soucheray
at one point i did have to text somebody what team is in red
Matthew
got it yeah this conversation makes me want to pluck my eyeballs out seriously i want to get back to the very beginning of your story you said something very charming and i love that you've graduated to this now you're watering have you have you yet instead of moving the sprinkler around those of us that reach dad we need to get the hell out of the house we're about an hour we just go out there with the hose and we just stand there and water things with the hose in our hand have you reached
Joe Soucheray
that level yet i can tap you there okay good i have a there are some portions where i water by hand yeah and i bring out my shop stool yes yes and i sit there with a cold one yeah and the hose and i look at my watch and i give each plant a certain amount of time absolutely and i move on with the little stool i'm
Kenny Olson
on do you have a favorite plant you're you're rooting for or you want
Chris Reivers
to see flourish or that might need a little bit more nourishment yeah yeah
Matthew
yeah joe allow me to boast that was how my famous google street view photo was published on google for about six months were you watering standing on the hill i've got the hose between my legs and i'm holding it and i see that street view car coming up the road i reach out and i give him the biggest bird i have and that was on google street for about a half a year wonderful we had one hand bird in the
Chris Reivers
other didn't we have we had that printed out rook didn't we in the control room yes for a while yeah
Kenny Olson
it was fantastic and i think we
Chris Reivers
were told to take it down take
Joe Soucheray
it down probably john will cover this in his news but we have had two mass shootings in minneapolis yes sir but no one died no not yet
John Height
but although it sounds like nobody will are they related john they aren't saying
Joe Soucheray
yet no they haven't was one friday night or were both saturday no that
John Height
one was there were two separate nights
Joe Soucheray
do you think the heat do you think the heat played a role now we've lucked out usually we anticipate an increase in madness when the heat gets to people but boy it's been hot for a long time and there's been no trouble maybe it's a combination of heat and smoke although the smoke was pretty tolerable yesterday and saturday and after
Chris Reivers
the storm blew through she should be
Joe Soucheray
okay today hide there was no storm we we had no storm that's not
Matthew
what the records say no there was
Joe Soucheray
no storm in my house so there
Matthew
was no storm you got one dead in frogtown two days ago too such
Joe Soucheray
this is terrible this is you know we need we just need more money spent on parks and libraries right these kids don't have an outlet you need diversity programs yeah you just need to get if there was only some some
Kenny Olson
games get them early get them early
Matthew
i say take them fishing in the
Joe Soucheray
meantime saint paul officially announced that there will be no fixing of streetlights so the streets will remain dark and the parks will remain dark which is not a wise thing come on you're making i'm not making it up because the city has a twenty five million dollars deficit because they like every other public entity cannot budget and so there's no money to replace the copper wiring that keeps getting stolen so the street lights that are out are going to remain out which you would think for public safety you would make it a priority to fix the lighting where are they
Matthew
spending the money if not on instrument
Joe Soucheray
my off the top of my head belief about why cities get in trouble is that they hire way too many people who cannot demonstrate that they've achieved anything on behalf of the taxpayers there are just too damn many employees especially in a city what's saint paul probably not even three hundred thousand people and it's i think mayor herr didn't reduce the size of the incredible cabinet that melvin carter built none of whom were ever held accountable for anything there was never any accounting of what they did there was never any charting or auditing of any proof of what they were contributing to the city it just employs a million people who don't do anything
Matthew
do we have any records of where the actual money was spent though i mean what did they buy what did they spend it on salaries that's it
Joe Soucheray
good luck well in the meantime if you want to take care of your garage floor get a hold of installed building solutions because they're using the latest technology for what's the word i want the epoxy floor yes only they have the current technology which is polyurea garage

Matthew
that's a sprinkler that's the sound of a sprinkler head when it's not working now the sound it makes when minerals in the water rust up it's so bad it won't rotate that's just that's what happened yesterday in the sprinkler head in the orchard i doused it and then soaked it in seafoam deep creep overnight and right now as we do the show monday july twentieth that sprinkler head is doing its job here in the jackass orchard thanks to seafoam deep creep oh and by the way i've been meaning to tell you guys my elderly side by side had been running weird occasionally stumbled i may have mentioned it before the fourth well i gave it a healthy dose of seafoam motor treatment that solved the problem it's been running like a charm ever since and of course the bugs be gone worked its voodoo over the weekend and the windshield and grill of the truck i just it was sitting in the driveway sprayed everything down let it set there for a while and then just washed it off with the hose didn't even touch the windshield didn't touch the grill all of those bugs are gone it's the biggest three from seafoam it's what all of us need seafoam deep creep seafoam motor treatment and seafoam bugs be gone wonderful products in times of sin

and strife in a long interview with the new york times published over the weekend zoran mamdani the mayor of new york was asked by journalist lulu garcia dash navarro from diversityville how do you define the working class and i think the context was these are the people that he vows to fight for the working class so she said well how do you define the working class and he really couldn't he said for example i think if you have to work to pay your bills i think that is one definition of being part of the working class well okay most do isn't that why people work i don't care if you make five hundred grand a year or fifty grand a year you have bills to pay that's why you work and then he also struggled there's some word salads here that he was really struggling to come up with an answer when pushed whether he would consider those who make two hundred fifty grand a year as working class he said i haven't asked where it starts and stops well keep in mind now he's never really worked what i would say is those who are working to try and afford the basic dignities of life and aren't able to do so i think that is also working class oftentimes we're asked how we defied the country i think there's only one majority in this country it's the working class let me stop right there and echo something that i've said before it used to be the basic setup of society was right and wrong okay now the basic basic setup of society is equity it's not right and wrong anymore it's haves and have nots it should be right and wrong often we are asked how to he says there's only one majority in the country it's the working class i agree with that but my idea of the working class is different than his confused garcia dash navarro admitted that the mayor's description didn't seem to ring true it just seems a very easy answer to what is a complicated question the reporter fought back basically i'm sorry because politically if you're saying everyone is in the working class or anyone that gets a salary is in the working class yes that opens up your tent but practically speaking we are divided by income no see we're divided by right and wrong the current america is divided by right and wrong it's not divided by income and especially if you want to tax people where you draw those lines mom donnie said he would draw the line at a million dollars a year okay well that's whimsical and arbitrary on his part it makes no sense makes no sense which garcia dash navarro pointed out could alienate potential voters such as a janitor who's lumped in the same working class category as a successful lawyer this feels like a distinction that might matter she told the mayor when i was running a question i would face was what does it mean to be a democratic socialist and i only bring it up because i think sometimes there's a fixation on a definition of something mamdani attempted to explain and what i found is when i would knock on new yorkers doors they would just ask am i part of your vision it's not that everyone is making the same amount of money or facing the same amount of struggle but they just want to know is there any way for them to actually be able to work this hard and afford a good life in the city garcia dash navarro then accused him of deflecting from the question by talking about new yorkers wants in broad strokes look i've defined it to you as someone who works to afford their life he shot back i also think no matter how you define it we have an understanding that those who are struggling to afford their rent struggling to afford their groceries struggling to afford childcare are the people who should be at the heart of our vision for what comes next well that's just boilerplate that's just his boilerplate bs if you get up in the morning and you leave your house by any means of conveyance to go someplace where you do something that results in you getting paid you're in the working class which is why i agree with him that the vast majority of this country is the working class has nothing to do with how much you make it's the euphorians who've long attached a sociological or political aspect to the term working class they intended to mean you don't make enough compared to those liberals who are wealthy enough to pretend they're liberal you just don't make enough so we're gonna call that the working class and there's a stigma attached to that if you're a strong if you're leaning strong from liberal lakes or euphoria it means you're downtrodden you're the working class you're put upon no anyone who gets up in the morning and has a place to go where they have to do something that results in them making a living you're the working class hmm you're working class i'm working class working class what else could it be because if you take the euphorians meaning they always have a figure in mind like madonna mom donnie just said it a million i'll go a million so in momdani's mind once you hit a million you're not working well b as in b s as in s of course you
Matthew
are i don't think he has any idea what working class what blue collar what white collar is he doesn't he's never worked do you think he knows that there's some blue collar workers that are making well over what some white collar workers are making of course he does it that would blow his mind
Joe Soucheray
right there there's no such thing as the working class we're all if we if you get up in the morning and you either ride your bike your cargo bike or you take a bus or you take an uber or you walk or you take your own car to some other physical location well you can stay at home and work too but generally speaking if you get up in the morning and go someplace to do something that results in you every two weeks getting a paycheck you work
Matthew
how about the guy joe that hangs from a cord from a helicopter stringing power lines that guy's got to make over a million a year he's working
Joe Soucheray
class is he working class he's working
Matthew
he's making over a mill but he's dangling from a helicopter we're all working
Joe Soucheray
class but it's the euphorians who have attached to that a meaning of oppression and victimhood they've attached the words working class some idea of misery well they can't have the twelve thousand square foot mansion well they can if they weren't if they did if they figured out a different way to get there but a lot of people are happy with their station in life they make trade offs they don't care about making a great deal of money if their work life has incorporated for them time to go camping or time to work in a wood shop whatever people make trade offs all the time in their life fun hobbies yes and they get by with what they want to get by with so they can focus on the things that interest them more than making money but the euphorians have ruined the term it's the euphorians who and that's why mom donnie struggles to define who the working class is because he can't because he politically can't turn his back on the people who voted for him because they want him to believe they want him to be the champ of the victims we're just the victims of oppressive and they're generally white people oppressive white factory owners and corporate heads and hedge fund managers they're the ones who have made it all miserable for us no no no no that's not the way it works but we've lost sight of right and wrong and we're just now on you know how much versus how much so mom donnie failed miserably to answer that question because he can't he would be and if you ask peggy flanagan that question she couldn't answer it if you ask tim walls that question well they can answer it but they're going to answer it the way their political constituents want them to answer it by the way how could possibly anyone vote for peggy flanagan she's part of i know but she every time i see her ad i think well you're part of the fraud team you were there you knew what was going
Chris Reivers
on have you seen the angie craig
Joe Soucheray
softball ad that's a doozy yeah she's
Kenny Olson
really smacking them out of the park
Chris Reivers
huh she's just you know oh baby
Joe Soucheray
i've just started
Chris Reivers
i love how the ads are just we're trying to cater to the low hanging fruit well no
Joe Soucheray
they're all she's playing ball well they're running against both craig and what's her name flanagan flanagan are running against trump that's a good point they're not running
Matthew
for but i think their ads are they're generated to for people that don't follow politics at all true yep that's
Joe Soucheray
true flanagan will have an ad put out by somebody ripping the hell out of craig for her ties to trump however vague those ties are and then the next ad is craig ripping flanagan for ripping her they're really struggling to see who can go after trump the best this is minnesota trump had nothing to do with fraud in minnesota trump had nothing to do with walls fouling up this state trump has had nothing to do with the high taxes in minnesota trump had nothing to do with this walz administration blowing an eighteen billion dollars surplus nothing to do with it we need people who want to make minnesota work again and that that is not helpful to see two senate candidates arguing about who hates trump the most that doesn't do it for us it doesn't that's not germane to what's happening
Chris Reivers
here well if i was running against you that sounds like you're pro trump
Joe Soucheray
well i know that's the kind of world we live in that's the game being played that's the game that's being
Matthew
played yeah who would win it a
Joe Soucheray
fight i i probably wouldn't now better
Chris Reivers
question who would you rather have as a three hitter angie craig or peggy flanagan on your softball team i'll take
Joe Soucheray
craig okay i'll take craig she can hit that ball unless that was some
Kenny Olson
photoshopping oh you think it may have
Joe Soucheray
been ai could have been could have been back to mom donnie i don't know where else to take that except the term working class is politicized it's been used for decades now by democrats to suggest that if you're working class you obviously are a victim of something you're a victim of oppression where do you think family leave act came from the whole ideological notion that you're victimized by having to work you shouldn't have to work you should get time off and that should be paid for by these evil oppressors who victimized you the
Kenny Olson
nerve of forcing you to work so
Joe Soucheray
that started with the clintons the clintons were they wanted some kind of family leave didn't they did they ever win
Kenny Olson
that i think that's where it started
Joe Soucheray
but but the whole idea is if you work the what the what the liberals want you to believe is if you work you you obviously you toil yeah you toil you toil in a sweatshop if you work well no everyone works in this country who well everyone who works works
John Height
excuse me i'm joe
Chris Reivers
sushere and i stand behind this message
Matthew
so says the mayor of karachi no
Joe Soucheray
i'm yogi berra everyone works who works
Matthew

to how he got elected would be the failed academy has done a superb job in corrupting the minds of young people who've done an absolute thorough job just fantastic they've done a thorough job in ideologically corrupting these privileged children that it's a bad country they should resent their privilege they should resent any any goodness and any achievement because that goodness and achievement they're not shared equitably in this country and so that's become a bad thing and mamdani vows to take care of that so the young voters thought he was the answer i'd be
Matthew
really surprised if he wins a second
Joe Soucheray
term well he's got a lot of time left to do enough damage that it could open the eyes of the people who voted for him well i
Matthew
think if they had election tomorrow he'd lose

was very well done in russia and ukraine alternating attacks russia has unleashed one of its largest ballistic missile barrages at kyiv since the start of the war killing at least one person and wounding sixteen others a series of powerful blasts echoed across ukraine's capital city in an attack involving forty one missiles which started fires in several districts according to the air force there shortly after that russia russia was hit by ukraine's biggest attack of the war so far with clips showing four hundred drones attacking vladimir putin's doorstep footage showed huge plumes of smoke rising over the russian capital amid the onslaught us immigration and customs enforcement will require its officers to record vehicle stops with at least one body camera according to tom holman the trump administration's borders are the action comes as the agency is under renewed scrutiny after ice officers fatally shot two men earlier this month month the homan says made the comments on fox and friends weekend program saying the cameras exonerate more law enforcement than they convict president trump said yesterday the boeing luxury jet donated by qatar that he recently took overseas would soon be in his words maxed out suggesting it could get additional defense capabilities the president commented after returning to washington from new jersey aboard the jet a boat boeing seven hundred and forty seven eight hundred that was given as a gift and which the president says he plans to take with him for his presidential library when he leaves office a reporter traveling with a small group of reporters in the presidential motorcade pointed to the fuselage and said mister president this plane does not have anti missile defense systems why are you flying on it the president replied well it has a lot and you know it has a lot of capability but as i understand it month but as a month or so we're going to send it to have it

here president trump's social media company causing some consternation at the moment among traders they are discussing charging wall street traders and investment firms as much as one hundred thousand dollars a month for faster access to the president's posts on his truth social platform oh boy oh my it just never ends trump media and technology group which owns truth social has in recent weeks also pitched a discounted plan of sixty thousand dollars per month if the firm sign up for a three year deal tmtg trump media and technology group unveiled a paid for licensed data feed called truth api to provide banks and trading firms the fastest access to posts from the ten most influential truth social accounts but didn't give any pricing details the move would be the company's first step into data licensing opening up a new revenue stream trump's social media posts often move markets and the profits of many top trading firms hedge fund funds and financial service firms depend heavily on the speed at which they can execute trades as an example april ninth this year wall street's main indexes turned sharply higher after the president said in a truth social post he would pause many of his new tariffs for
Joe Soucheray
ninety days i think it's entirely ethical that the president would sell early joe early look at his post it's his

was kenny yeah influencer andrew tate and his brother tristan were arrested saturday night as british authorities announced thirty eight new charges and efforts to extradite them the alleged crimes date from twenty ten to twenty seventeen and cover rape and sex trafficking charges as well as crimes related to child sexual abuse images the uk says four victims are tied to the latest allegations separate from twenty one charges filed against the brothers last year for crimes linked to three other unnamed victims the dual us british citizens separately faced sexual exploitation charges in romania where they lived from twenty sixteen to twenty although that case is stalled andrew tate was a kickboxing champion who amassed a broad audience in twenty sixteen as a contestant on the uk's big brother tate has since gained more than ten million followers on x as what he calls himself a self styled misogynist and it's been roughly eight months since the us minted its last penny even longer since the shortage left businesses struggling to make exact changes to cash paying customers now a bill passed by the house earlier this month could help to relieve some of this confusion it's called the common sense act that's c e n t s the common sense act formally ends the production of the penny which the us has already stopped minting and addresses how retailers should give you change when they don't have any pennies in the till retailers large and small have been notifying customers that exact change is unlikely if paying with cash but how they pass along what you're owed has varied some offer gift cards and freebies for example others have been rounding change or transaction totals that however can lead to legal challenges there are several states and localities in the us that have laws that prohibit businesses from rounding cash transactions up or down part of the problem according to dylan giant the national retail federation senior director of government relations relates to laws that say those paying with a different form of tender can't be charged differently than customers who pay with cash that's not a problem luckily here in minnesota we i don't know where you guys go but everybody rounds up up
Joe Soucheray
here i've had no problem with it
Matthew
whatsoever leave it to the lawyers to find a problem where one doesn't exist
Joe Soucheray
if i don't get back two pennies i am very comfortable about that well
Matthew
i'm gonna sue yeah well just think
John Height
at some point apparently governments actually passed laws yeah that concerned one or two cents as changed what about wheat pennies
Joe Soucheray
well i'm banking on those becoming very valuable i have a store of them
John Height
by the way pennies will remain legal tender under this bill if it passes it's estimated that more than three hundred billion pennies are still out there i
Joe Soucheray
love a good penny penny the common
John Height
sense act still needs to pass through the senate be signed into law before it can take effect its future in the next chamber is unclear john you
Chris Reivers
have a relative that works in retail i know not on the front side of things or whatever you would call that the front line but have you guys noticed that certain spots if you pay in cash they round it up to the next five cents have you
Joe Soucheray
guys noticed that recently if that's happened to me i have not noticed so
Chris Reivers
if you pay cash with your check card or whatever it stays safe never
Joe Soucheray
would do that i'm not a comic
Chris Reivers
this is why i'm bringing it up because you're one of the very few people i know that only pays in
Joe Soucheray
cash that's all i do okay so
Chris Reivers
you haven't noticed that at all i
Joe Soucheray
haven't okay so what's the most i can be deprived of well what i'm
Chris Reivers
saying is let's say you bought twenty bucks in gas and a snicker bar and a can of coke and it came to twenty dollars or twenty three dollars thirty two cents okay if you were to present cash they some some places rounded up to twenty three point
Joe Soucheray
three five that's okay with me and
John Height
others go to twenty three thirty though too true yeah it all works out
Matthew
any longer it's time to call you out and your bs me yeah you why there is no way you only pay in cash no way yeah you know what do you do when you're on the road and you pull over and matt madison and you dump in sixty dollars thirty two cents a gas do you walk in there first yeah and lay down eighty dollars yes no you don't yes no absolutely you don't what about hotel rooms credit card i got you on one one out of
John Height

here's a man who spends hours in hardware stores sifting through the nuts and bolts of life joe sugir i bring this up because i'm curious denmark is going to ban burkas in schools and universities wow as a part of a plan to tackle what it calls parallel societies now that's the burka is worn by some muslim women right i said right oh i know
Chris Reivers
right right i got it do it
Joe Soucheray
what's the rule here i think the kids or women wear burkas here in school don't they yes they have a ban on full face coverings in denmark prime minister met fredrickson's move to expand the burka band of schools and universities critics have argued that the use of the face coverings are not widespread in classrooms rooms the government's latest move was revealed by the center right newspaper berlinski citing a statement from the danish immigration society i don't know if that could be done here and should it be in addition to introducing the famous burqa ban new rules came in compelling all newcomers and their children to learn danish or lose asylum seeker benefits it sounds like denmark is trying to stem the tide after the flood has already occurred does that make sense immigrants were also moved around the country to stop a parallel foreign society growing up under so called ghetto law denmark's border force also has powers to confiscate such items as jewelry and watches from incoming migrants to help fund the cost of their state why don't they do it the way we do it just let them commit
Kenny Olson
fraud yeah here you go here's millions
Joe Soucheray
migrants who tire of denmark and return home voluntarily are giving a four thousand five hundred dollars sweetener to leave so denmark's really wrestling with this aren't they
Matthew
well they learned their lesson years and years ago i think this is new to combat a current existing problem last
Joe Soucheray
month the government also announced plans to ban the call to prayer in denmark as ministers complained that parts of their country felt like a suburb of islamabad i don't know what's happening well i do know what's happening in europe they haven't done anything and now denmark if denmark has led the way they're still piling on these various rules for immigrants in order to preserve danish society and i don't know that they'll be successful
Matthew
or not a lot of danes are saying it's too late or it's about
Joe Soucheray
time and in the story which was in the daily mail of course so it must all be true there's a poll do you support denmark's plan to ban burkas in schools and universities yes it should be bad no people should be free to wear it c only in schools not universities what's d i'm undecided oh no opinion dang it i have no opinion i would be i would for the sake of harmony i would ban
Kenny Olson
yeah that's the common sense thing to do tough beans mean you're
Joe Soucheray
here let's go here now but does that violate a religious tenet religious discrimination
Matthew
i suppose it would operate under the same rules and laws we do but
Joe Soucheray
the problem is with islam islam is everything it's the government it's the religion it's the banking it's everything but that isn't the way we work here we have separation of those things we don't work that way here that's what i'm
Chris Reivers
saying that's right matt i heard that
Joe Soucheray
one yeah well i don't know what the response will be to that from dead mark now that our flag fellow is back from his wilderness excursion i have new flags to add to the
Chris Reivers
crawl did you have to use a mask on your wilderness excursion
Joe Soucheray
gabe's not answering oh i didn't know it was a real answer no masks were needed i just toughed through it that was like breathing burning tires a lot of
Matthew
soot you were way up there i
Joe Soucheray
was i was about four hours away wow so the smoke there had to be worse than here it was pretty pretty deep it was around i would say less than a mile i could see when i was driving down here on wednesday for crabby wow from thomas hughes staying at breezy point happy to see the real minnesota flag flying proud i'm from bryceland minnesota and proud to say the same at our county seat seat blue earth all right clayton morrow this is to let you know that pillager minnesota has voted to fly the true old minnesota flag i don't think pillagers on the on the crawl and stephen c writes the veterans memorial in north saint paul hall proudly flies the true minnesota flag the veterans memorial all
Chris Reivers
right and gabe i know you didn't hear this but shieldsville minnesota also flying the original minnesota flag at the veterans
Matthew
memorial site pull ashby off there they don't have a flag up yeah we
Joe Soucheray
gotta get rid of ashby's although residents of ashby are flagging i got news from a fellow who was in town over the weekend stayed at the lowell inn and still water they're flying the true flag does that count the steamships or the paddle wheelers out on the st croix were flying the true flag
Matthew
wait a minute what royce calls the wheel the wheel boats
Joe Soucheray
only because they come to us all the way from marleth park and south africa from the traveling lymans whose exploits can be followed at worldwide waftage dot com we had a very active day today today on this day in minnesota history you're talking about july twentieth well on this day in eighteen thirty seven hole in the day the younger and somebody else named flatmouth yeah flatmouth lawrence taliaferro and henry h sibley
Kenny Olson
what'd they do what now
Joe Soucheray
what is this wisconsin governor henry dodge and others met at fort snelling to negotiate the sale of ojibwe lands east of the mississippi about fourteen hundred ojibwe camped near the fort during negotiations in the treaty signed on july twenty ninth the ojibwe agreed to sell the land of the federal government for two hundred fifteen grand the treaty marked the first opening of minnesota land to settlers and retained the rights of the ojibwe to hunt fish and gather foods in the seeded lands the fishing claw led to a lengthy legal dispute in the nineteen nineties yes it did
Kenny Olson
this man took
Joe Soucheray
advantage july twentieth in eighteen fifty eight polk county was established and named for james k polk who was president when congress authorized creation of the minnesota territory on this day july twentieth in nineteen oh six the western federation of miners called a strike on the mesabi iron range two hundred union men had been laid off from mountain iron mine owned by the oliver iron mining company a subsidiary of us steel although layoffs on the range were common at issue was recognition of the union which was threatened by the discharge of only union workers within two months a large number of imported scabs undermined the union's efforts and the strike was broken on this day july twentieth on this day in nineteen thirty four two people were killed and sixty seven injured in a clash between strikers and police during a truckers strike in minneapolis after federal mediation failed governor floyd b olson declared the city under martial law and the national guard took control of the streets that was a very famous time in minneapolis history on this day july twentieth joe minneapolis on this day in nineteen forty minneapolis held its first aquatennial a festival celebrating summer i think it's underway as we speak you wouldn't know it though now i think she's been dialed down a bit yeah i'll see used to be a
Kenny Olson
big deal i'd say the winter carnival gets more pub than the aquatennial yeah
Joe Soucheray
and that's been dialed back a bit yeah it has on this day joe today is july twentieth in two thousand seven the center for hmong arts and talent hosted its first fresh traditions fashion show which highlighted the work of hmong designers on this day in sports disappointment
Chris Reivers
history who'd we lose to on july

answer chris growth will out growth will out invest for growth most people would say josh if you buy growth aren't you paying up growing companies well you might be be and then again you might not be because the next question is well isn't buying value oriented companies companies with the lowest price to earnings multiples the lowest price to sales multiple isn't that better strategy than going just for growth well the idea is that growth will out and that has been proven to not me improvement to other investors time and time again over long periods of time growth will out now there are a lot of companies that will say in their infancy or when they're there's just an idea out there that those companies that are involved in the fastest growing industry and there become more and more of them tend to skyrocket very quickly in value and then it is found over a period of time that they're not earning money that their sales aren't growing their sales aren't growing something has stalled out and these stocks which have been we'll say rocket ships crater and fall to earth and the winners sometimes out of that group are those that have had the staying power and really do have have growth do have an idea do have products or services that are in demand and they start eventually moving ahead there of course are those companies that are very steady growers that have again products and services that people want people need at some point yes these companies do have a mature industry or mature in terms of their growth and the growth slows these companies then pay out dividends at a higher rate or end up buying back shares another form of paying investors for them if i look at an old and i say an old growth company like coca cola which i have talked about for many years a very slow old growth company it doesn't grow at ten or twelve or twenty percent but it's a very steady mid single digits grower and they do grow their dividend every every year and they do buy back some shares and they have a product or actually several products that people can't be without water for one a and say milk juice coffee tea coca cola as an example sells over two hundred products in over two hundred countries around around the world very very steady company is it going to go to the moon no is it going to provide a level of safety oh yes and it's going to provide a very nice dividend yield that's going to grow over time say one of the best investors long term warren buffett has included coca cola in his portfolio berkshire hathaway for decades at the price that he originally bought bought it and added to the shares yes have gone up but what has increased even more is the dividend dividend the dividends that are paid out and the dividends that are paid out relative to his cost basis give berkshire hathaway and warren buffett a dividend yield we'll say in excess of fifteen percent but again that's over a long period of time and coke is just an old staid company on the other hand a company that started growing fast faded came up with new products saw the growth accelerate and then would fade then come back with newer products and now just is i'll say is one of the largest companies in the world and they provide a product and service that people really can't be without that is apple apple now has two point four billion ios users and at least one and a half billion iphone users and if i look that most people are going to be replacing their phone every four to five years and when they replace the phone they're going to need more memory need more storage and they'll probably get more services from from apple is no longer growing at twenty or twenty five percent growing at a single digit rate but apple does buy back shares and does increase their dividend as a product or service that people can count on and generates tremendous amount of cash flow i'll say so much cash flow and so much cash that that countries in which apple operates the governments all want a piece of apple's apple's business and they attempt to go after apple as a monopoly that said apple is a very very steady growth company and even with all the fluctuations and worries that say analysts have over the next iteration of the iphone this company could well continue to perform on a very very long long term basis that's an example both coke and apple are examples of first faster growing companies and then companies that become steady growers and those are types of companies that for a longer term investment investors you should look look at growth will out that is i'll say the biggest bit of advice chris that i could give any any investor the other piece is always keep cash available because inevitably in any given year a market is going to pull back five to ten percent three to four times during the course of the year and having cash available to add to positions is is beneficial now in putting together any portfolios you know for myself or my clients and my money is in the exact same spots that my clients money is in i'll say we go in together and out together on new purchases my focus always has been companies around the internet companies involved in leisure china related businesses without necessarily being in china because that's still faster growing part of the world real assets such as real estate and to keep a portion of money available for short term trading or for opportunities and by we'll say concentrating in the portfolio concentrate our focus in the portfolio portfolios in those areas i have found better opportunities for growth than in other sectors of the marketplace and that's
