Ever since we've noticed this flirtation with the dsa, it's amazing the number of stories that I keep seeing about it, including today. Rahm Emanuel, remember him?

He was Obama's chief of staff and he's warning the Democrats, you gotta quit flirting with this. You're gonna it has an appeal only on the Upper west side of Manhattan where people are wealthy enough to pretend they're liberal and don't think any of this would affect them. There was a Wall Street Journal opinion column last week warning that the Democratic Socialist candidates are threatening the traditional Democratic Party's chances of statewide and nationwide elections with policies that Emmanuel is smart enough to realize are dreadful. He doubled down on CNN with his concerns, claiming that any election not focused on Trump would be a dollar wasted for Democrats. He says the election is set up to be a referendum on Trump's corruption and his inability to manage the economy to make people's lives better. Emanuel said anything that distracts from that means you're helping Trump. The DSA and that agenda as it's laid out does not play anywhere except for maybe on the Upper west side of Manhattan. And anytime a Democrat anywhere in a red to blue district has to either distinguish themselves rather than prosecute that the Republicans would be rubber stamp for Trump is a dollar wasted. He specifically called out DSA backed candidates for focusing on replacing Democratic candidates in safe districts rather than putting forth an effort to win races in red or purple states like North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. Do you think anybody in those states wants a member of the DSA to come campaign or any of the Progressive Caucus? And second, since 2018, the Progressive Caucus hasn't flipped a single red to blue district. And to me, this is a consequential election where we could put a checkmate on Trump and we cannot risk it with diversions from the Democratic Socialists of America who are giving them nothing but talking points, emanuel said. Well, he's right. Emanuel was also asked to respond to Bernie Sanders, who criticized Emanuel as part of the Democratic establishment beholden to billionaire donors. You have an establishment like Rahm Emanuel who are dependent on billionaire campaign contributors. Well, so is Bernie. But the billionaires are wealthy enough to pretend they're liberal and some of them support Bernie who are dependent on billionaire campaign contributors and want to maintain the status quo. Then you have a progressive movement. Which by the way, what is getting these guys nervous is we are winning all over this country. It's not only Mamdani. This is Bernie talking. It's not only Mamdani in New York, it's in New Jersey, Ohio, Colorado. People are sick and tired of the Rahm Emanuels and the Democratic establishment and the Republic establishment, sanders said on Face the Nation Sunday. Emanuel agreed with Sanders that the system is rigged against the middle class, but emphasized that it was more important to take action rather than talk about it. So it goes on and on and on. But Emmanuel blames Democratic Socialist candidates for pushing unpopular positions that contributed to more moderate Democrat losses. It was socialists who led the change to defund the police, open the borders, abolish prisons, release violent criminals, desecrate the flag, emmanuel said. This is a ray of hope.

You know who else is saying that, only louder and more vicious? Carville.

Yeah, same thing.

He's saying all you, all you're doing here is giving votes to Republican candidates here with all this nonsense.

Emmanuel has a history of calling out the far left on cultural issues that he thinks do not play well with the country at large. Emanuel said his party needs to stop alienating voters by talking down to them and fixating on niche identity politics. We lost the plot, he said. We as Democrats nationally, from Latinx, which he's ripping that term, to defunding the police to police organizations are racist, to bringing a set of cultural wars to our schools. We are on the losing side of that for full stop. Well, I hope they listen to this guy.

Well, no, wait a minute. Now, I want you to step outside of Joe Sushere, the mayor of Garage Logic, and consider yourself a Republican strategist. All you're doing is working for the party.

Don't you want this to continue the, the DSA flirtation? Yeah, well, sure if I'm a Republican strategist, but I'm not.

Okay, as Joe Sucre, mayor of Garage Logic, what are you worried about?

I'm worried that the backlash to Trump is what's driving the DSA's increasing presence.

TRUMP is done, though.

Well, he, technically there's no reason to

run against Trump right now. If you do, you're. Well, if you do, you're, you've got your finger on the pulse of America, I guess.

I think the reason that they want to run against Trump Kennedy is because they want to get control of Congress so that Trump and Congress aren't Republican controlled. That, that would be my guess.

Yeah, that makes much more sense.

And Rahm Emanuel is saying to the Democrats, you are going to lose completely to the, you're going to lose out to the dsa. They're going to overtake you if you don't, if you don't start pushing back on your own party and will call that out.

Will Republicans lose out to the dsa? Let me rephrase that.

Will in this state they will.

Yeah. Will that crowd lose to the dsa? I don't see that happening. Even if Trump isn't involved, obviously not running again. So would the MAGA movement lose to the DSA? Hell no.

That's a good question. There's your 50% on one side, 50% on the other. Yeah, they're not the middle. Yeah, but I think DSA are extremes.

But I think if you take the person President Trump out of the equation, I think MAGA gets actually stronger.

My fascination lately has been this tremendous presence of the DSA and how the young people are finding it so appealing. I got a note from the minster. He calls it minkism, not Marxism. Your metaphor, asserting that the younger demographic is dating or dallying with communism. Socialism is apt. As stated. You have been told communism. They have been told communism is wonderful and it's fun to hang around. I'll extend the metaphor. The young person ignores the fact that communism is a general failure and essentially goes against human nature, but marries it anyway. Communism is an abusive spouse. As time goes by, the young person develops Stockholm syndrome and can't get out of the situation without a difficult and possibly violent separation process. This leads to tears and death. The larger problem is the rest of us who know better are forced to go along for the ride and witness the whole sad inevitable end, hopefully only to be around for the rebound where some of us can cross our arms, look disapprovingly and say, told ya. That's minkism.

Well, here's one A Democratic Socialist bartender is rattling Rahm Emanuel is rattling the party the Democrats in a run for Wisconsin governor from the Wall Street Journal. Her name is Francesca Hong, a dues paying member of the Democratic Socialists of America. She has establishment Democrats rattled ahead of an Aug. 11 primary for governor that has showcased the party's division in disarray. She's a 37 year old state representative, part time bartender. She leads in the most recent Marquette Law School primary poll. She's outpacing a former lieutenant governor, a former top state administrator and several other more prominent Democrats. The race is one of three heartland Democratic primaries in early August offering insights into the party's direction. The other two are US Senate contests in Michigan and Minnesota. In Minnesota, you have committed DSA member Flanagan running against Angie Craig. I'll come back to the Wall Street Journal article because this allows me to veer veer to the front page of today's Star Tribune where we learn that Gwen Walls I didn't know that we worried about who she endorsed.

And I'm pleased that she is, because Flanagan is just a ridiculous empty suit. She's a rubber stamp for anything the DSA comes up with. She's meaningless. And she was complicit in the fraud administration. She held the. And she's a dummy. I mean, that Walls wasn't gonna pick anybody to outshine him, and he's damn near not literate.

But as Lieutenant governor, she's. They haven't held her feet to the fire.

Of course not. You never hold a lieutenant governor's feet to the fire. They're nobody's.

What has she done? Has she done anything?

Nothing. Nothing. But in the Walls home, you would think that Tim would have said, gwen, you know, the club needs Flanagan to maintain what we've achieved here. The complete destruction of the team. And if you vote for. If you push Craig, that's a ripple in our plan. So it didn't stop her.

Sanders, Warren, Tina Smith, Ilhan and McCollum all backing Flannagan.

I know, because she's part of the machinery they need. She's not an important part because she's not smart enough to be an important part, but she's a rubber stamp for them.

Well, back to the Wall Street Journal on this gal named Francesca Hong. She just. She stands for everything in that platform. The primaries are playing out as Democrats remain divided about how to more widely win competitive elections. One wing asserts battleground districts and states are won by wooing independent voters with moderation. I can't Imagine an independent voter being wooed by the dsa, while another says voters are eager for significant change at a time of widespread skepticism in government and widening economic disparity. Hong is Wisconsin's first Asian American state legislator. She's on the side calling for a vast expansion of government into virtually every corner of life, from free childcare and mass transit to publicly run grocery stores and the elimination of all college debt. She backs legalizing marijuana to fund high speed broadband and supports a state run development bank, Medicare for all, a 32 hour work week with no pay cut, abolishing the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, restoring voting rights to felons and the eventual elimination of prisons and police. That's radical. Trump and other Republicans have branded the DSA as communism and are using the policy position of its members as a line of attack against all Democrats. Which is precisely what Rahm Emanuel is trying to point out to them. Asked how she would pay for the additional benefits she is suggesting, Hong said she would push for higher taxes on the wealthiest. They're the only ones now paying taxes and the elimination of business tax credits. The money is there, she said. It's how we've allocated. And also who is not required to pay. You know what? I think I could solve this. I could solve this.

What would you do to solve this problem?

[Joe Soucheray]

I would reduce the income tax filing to one page of instructions. I would eliminate all loopholes. I would just, I would say, at this income you're paying this. At this income you're paying this. At this income you're paying this. Period. That's it.

You don't get to hire 14 lawyers to try to tell me that you have an out because of a subparagraph on page 322 of the Tax code simplification. And how many people are in Congress and Senate? 400.

635. Those are the people who create the tax laws. And every one of them has the audacity to go out during an election and say, we must do something about these taxes. These people, people aren't paying their taxes. Trump in his odd brilliance at the time, Dave Chappelle was marveled at this and did a bit on it. Remember the debate with Trump and Hillary?

Yep.

And somehow Hillary made the mistake during the debate of saying to Trump, you don't even pay your taxes. And Trump said, well, I pay every bit of tax I'm required to, just like you and your wealthy friends. She falls silent at that point and he said, I'm going to take advantage of every tax break you people have created and the friends that support you. She was gobsing, there's no way to come back. There's no comeback for that.

Or here Francesca Hong in Madison, we have to get the wealthy to pay more taxes. Why don't you go after the people who have been representing you all these years and who have failed miserably? This isn't complicated. Create a tax system. That's one page. And I'm sorry, lawyers. You should be put out of business for this. Elon Musk hires 500 lawyers to make sure that he's getting every nickel he can. If you hit the money, the rest of us, those breaks don't exist for the rest of us. We don't have depreciation problems. We don't have whatever the hell they have, you know, giant loopholes.

Matt, zip it. The Democratic Socialist mayor of Seattle found herself having to leave her parents basement and go face problems that the DSA doesn't want to face. That's why they're ultimately just going to say there's any crime. Seattle had a terrible gun violence. It's not gun violence, it's people violence using guns. But they had a food fair over the weekend and three people were killed and four others injured when three people exchanged gunfire at the Seattle center on Saturday night. Thousands of people were there. It was called the Bite of Seattle Food Festival. And she's under fire now for her late response. And she's explaining that, well, I didn't want to give a response until we had all the information. And they're not calling it a gang situation, even though it turns out it was a gang confrontation. They're small groups. They're not gangs, according to the police chief. They're small groups.

We don't have gangs.

Not a big deal.

She finally issued a statement around what, 8:30pm Sunday night or last night? This is data, this is from King 5 in Seattle dated yesterday. So Monday or Sunday night, fully 24 hours after she finally made a statement. And she was criticized for that. But she said, well, they didn't have all the information and she was waiting to get the information. But it's a good example of when a DSA politician is confronted with the real world. She doesn't want to deal with this. People killing each other is not part of their plan. And well, yes, it is, because ultimately they would say that didn't happen and they don't intend to have police and they don't intend to have prisons, which is a really bad way to look at a human being to think that, well, people are going to die and we're going to ignore it and we're not going to punish anybody for it. It's a bad situation. Not dark people, evil people. And when asked Monday about the timing of Sunday night's press conference. I have it. Okay.

It got a little contentious at the old Seattle mayor's office with the. What's her name again? Katie Wilson.

Katie Wilson. She left home at Dad's house to come downtown and have to deal with this. There was no direction from Governor Ferguson's office or Pramila Davel's office to wait to do the press conference until they got as. As soon as we coordinated with SPD and agreed that it was time to talk to the media, as soon as we knew that we were going to

be doing that, I and Governor Ferguson

and Congresswoman Jayapal arrived on the scene.

We didn't.

So you're kidding.

His office unequivocally did not tell you to leave? No, absolutely not. What was the delay in the basics, the ABCs and the one, two, threes of what happened? You had people running, you have people

shot on the ground with bullet holes in their backs covered in white sheets.

And we are sitting there waiting, waiting, waiting. The only thing that we had was

a tweet and people who were afraid and a lot of information on social media filling the vacuum.

So why is it that citizens in the city of Seattle had to wait for almost five hours to get answers? It was something so serious that it's made national headlines. Yeah, I mean, my office put out a statement at 8:30 which again included an initial inaccuracy. So again, this speaks to the tension

between providing information early and providing it accurately.

[Joe Soucheray]

So we, along with spd, were trying to manage that tension and we got information out to you all as soon as we possibly could. Okay, I think that's pretty good.

So thank you so much for coming today.

So she's got one of her little handler. She's got a handler there who said, that's it.

[Chris Reivers]

It got a little too hot for her so she had to run off to the side.

It's just a little too hot.

What was analogous in that response when she said, my office put out a statement. It's the same bleeping answer that your guy Huger Cesar Chavez gave to Channel 5 when he said, well, we sent out a text or we sent out an email.

Her lack of response reminds me of our own governor during the George Floyd riots when he hid in mansion for a couple of days before releasing any kind of statement or talking to us. This is really easy to solve. But the problem is these people don't want to be honest. You go out there at the very earliest opportunity and you say plainly, a lot of information is coming in. The story is fluid. Things are changing. Here's what I know at this point right now. This could change in an hour or tomorrow. And here's what I know. When reporters start throwing questions at you, you say, I don't know. It's that simple.

Well, here's another problem. The DSA is a fantasy. What they wish for is fantasy. It's inhumane. It doesn't work. There's hundreds of years of historical evidence that it doesn't work. It's a pure fantasy. When that fantasy collides with reality, it's inevitable that whoever is representing the DSA is not going to know what to say, when to say it, how to say it. It's contrary to the fantasy of this golden book, cartoon book they have of life.

You're so right.

So. So here she is. And I'm serious. She probably had to leave her. I think she lives with her parents or else her parents paid her bills. She's never done anything, and yet she was elected. So the people living in those, close to those tall buildings in Seattle, this is who they wanted. They all want to have a strong flirtation with this ridiculous fantasy. And this fantasy has no impact whatsoever on gangs shooting each other. They're uninterested in it. They're unaware of it. It doesn't affect their lives at all. They got disrespected. They gotta go shoot somebody. So that happens at a food fair, and these people seize up for at least 24 hours. Don't know what the hell to say about it. Don't even condemn it. Did you hear condemn anything?

No.

They don't know what the hell to do because it's. It's. It's a collision of being forced into a real situation that they have no earthly preparation for. To a lesser degree, to a much lesser degree, we're seeing a confrontation right here in Minnesota between the Euphorians in Minnesota. And the letter writers to the Star Tribune prove this. Other people prove this. The Euphorians in Minnesota would love to have us believe the state is on fire due to climate change. Granted, there are terrible fires in the boundary waters. No one likes that. It's happened before, it will happen again. But these fires are said to be burning the state. There's been letters to the editor where these ninnies have written that our state is on fire if we don't do something about climate change now, it'll be too late. Well, a. The state is not on fire. 60,000 acres sounds like a tremendous amount of territory. It's not yet equal the size of Lake Mille Lacs. I'm not saying they aren't serious. Of course they're serious. But what has happened now, there's a bit of a collision between reality and the wishes of the Euphorians to have us all believe that the state is on fire. And the collision has resulted in the authorities up Boundary Waters way having to back up a little bit and say, you know, we can open a few gates. There are portions of the Boundary Waters where you could stay overnight because the outfitters are starving. They have to support their kids. They gotta buy shoes for the kids that go back to school. The people who rent cabins have to have business. And of course they can, because they can have business in select areas where there's no danger from the fire. So these areas are opening up again. And this runs directly contrary to the wishes of the Euphorians who want you, want you to think the whole thing's disappearing. The state's on fire. No, it isn't. And now because of economic reality, I don't know what the DSA is going to do when they face economic reality. What's Katie Wilson in Seattle going to do when Bill Gates and all his buddies say, the hell with you, and leave the economic reality in the BWAC BWB Thing is we have to work. We got to sell bottles of water, we got to rent ores, we got to have people sleeping in our places. And that's now happening. That's happening. You wouldn't have thought that could happen two weeks ago, but the pressure mounted to the point where, yeah, you can get in this gate and this gate and this area, in this area and this area, and you can stay one night and then we'll have a rotation and more people can go back in. So the state is not on fire. Warm weather has occurred here before. The record continues to be 14 straight days of reaching 90 and above in 1936. Cooled off dramatically last night for a while.

Or, I mean, if you want the force to manage itself, you let it burn.

Yeah, you let it burn, but then you. Then you face this economic hardship. People who have staked their fortunes on this.

6. And Seattle Police released a statement a half hour after that. The mayor's statement was at 8:32 hours after the shooting. Then they held the Monday morning press conference.

St Paul Mayer Kali here said she is still making final changes before presenting her budget to the St. Paul City Council. Said the city is weighing cuts and higher taxes to resolve the budget shortfall. She said in full transparency and honesty it would be impossible to fix things without raising taxes. She said that same pressure a city faces are the same pressures all of us are at home facing with tariffs, high prices and the cost of everything.

Now her why don't you owe the public an accounting of the gargantuan staff in City hall and just tell us if they're accomplishing anything to balance the budget?

The mayor said she's considering a combination of options. She asked department heads to submit several versions of their budgets, including one with a 4% cut across the board. Her set of hiring freeze is also a possibility and she said if property taxes go up, don't worry Joe, it'll just be a single digit increase.

Her will present the nine nine nine percent.

Her will present present the budget to the St. Paul City Council in mid August and it has to be approved in December. In Minneapolis, city leaders are weighing budget cuts and a possible property tax increase as the City faces a $30 million shortfall. Minneapolis City Council member Michael Rainville said property taxes could go up 13% if the city keeps the same services, staffing and equipment levels. Rainville said he wants that number lowered as budget talks continue. He said, we have to have the cooperation of all the department heads, the administration and the City Council. Mayor Jacob Fry is set to address the city August 12, lay out his budget plans. His office did not confirm that 13% estimate that Rainville said came from them.

Forest Lake police are investigating a $40,000 theft at Punch Out Gaming after surveillance video from Saturday showed two people breaking in and leaving with bags shortly after. Early on Saturday morning, officers responding to the Forest Lake business where they found a damaged window and an apparent bird. Police did not go into detail on what was stolen, but the surveillance video shows the two suspects going in and out of the store quickly. Punch Out Gaming sells video games, trading card games and collectibles. No arrests have been made at this time. Investigators say that this is the latest in a string of trading card thefts, including 25 grand in Pokemon cards stolen in Egan last month.

In Invert Grove Heights man has learned his prison sentence after being charged with stealing a federal government weaponry in the aftermath of a non fatal shooting by an immigration officer.

[Clark]

You'll remember this story. That's the shooting in Minneapolis.

[John Height]

According to the U.S. attorney's office, 33 year old Raul Gutierrez Jr. And several other people broke into vehicles that belonged to the FBI on January 14 after the shooting of Julio Sosa sales in north Minneapolis. When his accomplice Alexio Miranda arrived, the vehicle was damaged, the back was open. Court records say that Miranda broke into a vault in the cargo area of the car and took a rifle, a silencer and a bag of ammunition. Court documents say Miranda then gave that bag to Gutierrez who took it to his car and drove away. Gutierrez reportedly abandoned the bag shortly after and Miranda took the weapon to his home. U.S. attorney's office said that in the past Gutierrez has been convicted of burglary and domestic assault which prohibited him from possessing any firearms. Gutierrez pleaded guilty in May, was sentenced to 54 months in prison. According to the Department of Justice, Miranda pleaded guilty to possessing a stolen firearm in June. His sentencing is scheduled for October 28th. And as you've talked about, Joe, the Superior National Forest will be partially reopening the Boundary Waters Canoe Area this week. On Thursday, 41 entry points in the central and eastern parts will reopen for both day and overnight use. Those areas are roughly 39%, about 432,500 acres of the BWCA, according to the Forest Service. The announcement follows day use entry points reopening in Cook county on Monday. Some of the reopenings include day use motor only entry points on Trout Lake in St. Louis County. All other entry points will stay closed while multiple wildfires continue to burn, with the Forest Service saying it's working with partners to determine when conditions will be good enough to reopen. In other news, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expected at the White House today for talks with President Trump as he looks to shore up support for Kyiv at a time when if you've been following us, but the Russian and Iran conflicts now are kind of converging. The meeting comes as the US War against Iran and Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine reached critical junctures. There appears to be no immediate end in sight for either conflict and the Middle east wars now threaten to overlap with the Russian Ukraine conflict in recent days. Kyiv on Saturday launched an attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, an incident which Tehran said left one sailor dead, injured several others. The Islamic Republic has threatened retaliation over the strike against Ukraine. In a post on X on Saturday, Zelensky said Ukraine had achieved very strong results with long range strikes in the Caspian Sea, including including vessels used in military cargo shipments involving Iran as well as a warship. An earthquake registering a magnitude of 7.1 initially shook Kumamoto on Japan's southern main island of Kyushu late Tuesday afternoon there, causing damage and injuries. The second floor at the Aeon Mall shopping center in Kashima town collapsed, trapping an unknown number of people. At last word, rescue operations were being carried out, according to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency in Japan. Also reports of explosions before the collapse at the center. A tsunami advisory for the nearby Ariake and Yatsushiro seas on the western coasts and three neighboring prefectures were temporarily issued but were lifted within two hours. U.S. geological Survey initially said it was a 7.1, but revised that to a 6.8. Japan's Prime Minister Sani Tagichi said in a message posted on X that her government has set up a task force to gather info assess damage and prepare for rescue operations as needed.

The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to let President Trump tighten rules nationwide for mail in balloting before this fall's midterm elections as he seeks to exert more federal control over voting. The president filed the emergency appeal after lower courts blocked the administration from creating a federal list of eligible voters and limiting delivery of mail ballots only to people on that list in nearly half the states. In June, a federal judge in Boston said key parts of an executive order that the president signed in March were unconstitutional, ruling that those components can't be enforced this year in the 23 states that are challenging the order. Under the Constitution, states are assigned the role of administering federal elections. Kentucky's Democratic Governor Andrea Beshear, Andy Beshear is demanding that Senator Mitch McConnell verbally address constituents and demonstrate his ability to serve or else resign his seat.

It's been more than 40 days since McConnell has appeared outside of pictures released by his office after being hospitalized. His lengthy absence and past health scares are fueling speculation about his capacity to serve, Bashir said in the letter. It was also being sent to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, whom Bashir urged to investigate McConnell's capacity to serve. Thune and McConnell's offices did not immediately respond to requests for comments. McConnell is scheduled to term ends in January of 2027. Some other details on the shooting in Seattle that we talked about earlier. The three people killed, four others wounded at that food festival. Police said they think two groups opened fire Sunday night at the Seattle center, home to the city's famous Space Needle, where the bite of Seattle food Festival was being held. A 15 year old detained following Sunday shooting. 19 year old suspect was killed. Authorities are continuing to search for a third possible suspect. According to officials. The teen detained after the shooting was believed to be associated with the 19 year old man who died at the scene. A 44 year old man also died at the shooting site. A 56 year old woman transported to a hospital but didn't survive. A two year old boy remained in the hospital in a satisfactory condition, according to police, and three other survivors have been discharged. Horrible story for Michigan and we've talked about this before. This is the kind of story that would have been front page news, I don't know, 20 years ago. Authorities there have identified a man they say fatally shot his wife and six children on Friday. Citing autopsy results, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that Christopher Carol Kwitz, his wife Amanda and their six kids aged five to 15, all died of gunshot wounds before their bodies were found in the burning home in Grand Haven Township. The agency noted that Kakuwich shot himself to death, said the deaths of the kids and his wife are all Friday's killings in Grand Haven were at least the 13th mass murder reported in the U S in 2026. At least eight of those fit the definition of what since the 1980s have been known as family annihilation, a type of crime most commonly committed by an armed male on multiple close family members.

No, there's nothing as far as motivation goes. Medical News A recent study suggests that sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, might actually have an anti cancer effect as well. Researchers in Israel studied how sildenafil affected cancer cells in the lab and found it appears to help prevent cancers from spreading further by inhibiting the cell's ability to use cholesterol, which help in cancer building. The findings could someday point to a novel means of tackling cancers, according to the researchers. Ayelet Erez, cancer researcher at the Weizmann Institute of Science, he said, we've uncovered a new biological pathway that links a well known signaling molecule to the regulation within cells and shows how this pathway can be harnessed to interfere with the ability of cancer cells to grow. Researchers studied the effects of sildenafil on mouse and human cancer cells in the lab. The drug appeared to slow the transport within the cancer cell. They then studied the medical records of 5 million patients with the Health Services in Israel. People with cancer also taking psiladenafil appeared to survive longer than similar patients not taking it. The team's results were published in the journal Cancer research.

I'm sorry, Mississippi property owner has uncovered more than 200 Civil War era cannonballs while preparing land for commercial development, and historians think there might be even more artifacts there. Harold Knight said he first found a single cannonball on his boonville property before inviting people with metal detectors to search the site. The search quickly turned up hundreds of Civil War munitions Including grape shot, canister shot, and case shot, all estimated to be more than 160 years old. Experts at the boonville rails and trails museum believe the ammunition likely is connected to the battle of black or the battle of boonville, Two different battles fought in July of 1862. Museum officials say additional archaeological evidence would be needed to confirm the exact origin of the cannonballs, but the property's location places it between the two historic battle sites. Knight believes many more civil war artifacts Remain buried beneath the property. The cannonballs are expected to go on display at the rails and trails museum in boonville in the coming weeks.

Yeah. Now, get this. The rebrand was a $700 million overhaul across the company's 600 plus restaurants. I didn't think Cracker Barrel was that major of a player, but it obviously is. They also revamped the menu and decluttered, cluttered the dining room. I. I don't. I, I can't respond to that because I've never been in one. Are they cluttered?

No. The old saws and on the walls.

Well, they went. They went nuts. The. The. The people who hired Messino in less than a week, they. They said, no, no, this ain't working. Cause the earnings were down. And Massino said, well, the effort missed the mark. And it came out of an effort to improve the guest experience. I'm not your guest. I'm there to eat. I'm hungry. I'm gonna pay you. If you have to pay, you're not a guest. The company's earnings came in below expectations in December, with Massino acknowledging at the time that there were unique and ongoing headwinds that left the company with more work to do in regaining the trust and confidence of its customer base. The sales slump continued into the new year, with the March 2026 earnings release showing a drop in quarterly revenue and profits from the prior year, although the performance topped Wall Street's. Now you're Cracker Barrel. Old company Store Inc. It was last. The share was just most recently $52.43, down 2.38%. Masino said on the March earnings call that Cracker Barrel was gaining traction and the leaders were encouraged by some important guest metrics and green shoots around traffic. We're in some corporate speak here that I have no idea what that means. And now they're selling some of their properties as well as exiting its Maple Street Business Company business. It sold the Maple street brand in 35 of its locations to Biscuit Belly LLC, with Cracker Barrel closing the remaining 60 Maple street restaurants. Are you familiar with those?

So here the company also completed a sale leaseback involving 26 company owned locations which generated about 77 million in net proceeds that it planned to use to pay down the debt. So in other words, they were making a lot of money. And they were cruising along in America and they had this image of old timey general store and go in there and people like that, they were making money. What? Decide what. So then they bring in Julie Messino.

And she upends the whole thing.

This is business culture. Last year we made $900 million. That and a nice profit. Not good enough. Next year we have to make a billion.

This is how dsa. This is called capitalism. This is how business works. And in this case, it didn't work. See? And there's a consequence unlike. Unlike the world you envision when there are no consequences. This woman lost her job.

So Medallia Medelia Veterans Memorial is flying the true state flag, according to Mark. So Madelia veterans, they count. You got to put that up. I live in Meeker county, writes Annie. Litchfield is the county seat. The hospital flies the old state flag. As you drive around Litchfield, you'll see a lot of the old state floor flags. And I'm from Cosmos. Two hours straight west on Highway 7 past Hutchins, be the next stop sign that will be Cosmos. Last weekend we had Space Festival days. In the parade, Mark Minick was handing out the USA flag and the old true Minnesota state flag. We are a town of under 400 people. That includes the animals. Scott Matura in Montana. I'm home for a weekend in the wonderful little town of Cody, Wyoming. Decorating the ceiling of The Cody Brewing Company were the flags of all 50 states, as you might imagine. I immediately scanned the ceiling to see which Minnesota flag would be represented there. It was the true Minnesota state flag. This might have been due to them possibly not staying current or paying attention. So I asked the bartender if she knew of the controversy over the Minnesota flag. Her response? Oh, we're well aware. This told me that the true flag on display was intentional. Cody also aligns its streets with flags along the sidewalk every day in front of a business. If that business is closed and the flag is not outside. Kenny, next time you make it out this way. The Buffalo Bill Museum of the west is absolute must. It is a Smithsonian. One of the wings is the firearm museum. And you will never want to leave. It is beyond words. Largest collection of Winchesters in the world. Pushing back Scott Matura. So we're going to add Cody, Wyoming. Cody, Wyoming. Why not just add the whole town?

Minnesota's first homegrown governor was born in St. Peter. A Horatio Alger success story. Johnson overcame poverty to become editor of the St Peter Herald. A popular figure statewide, he was elected governor in 1905. In his oratorical skill, skills attracted nationwide attention. He died in office on September 21, 1909, cutting short plans to make him the Democratic party's presidential nominee in 1912. He didn't live very long, did he? So 39 and 9 is 48 carry the one he died at the age of 48.

He died following surgery for what I'm reading here.

Apple has teamed up with Klarna to release to lease phone. Excuse me. And they also hit a new high and the chips they do continue their sell off start.

Let's start with the negative news first and finish with the positive chip. Chips chips chips chips chips. Nobody likes the chip right now. Nobody likes Nvidia, nobody likes Intel. Despite intel doubling up on their etc sales and rents and upping their guide worries of course are about is this going to continue? What about Intel's foundry? Are they getting any any business coming up. Sell sell, sell. We'll say sell first, ask questions later. Forget I'll say forget what CEO says, forget what the CFO says. Just sell, sell sell the chip. Now of course some of the selling in the in the chip is coming from issues in South Korea and it looks like South Korea has meeting the negative news relative to chip. South Korea is home to two of the largest chip manufacturers Samsung and SK Hynix. SK Hynix recently listed on on NASDAQ and there is a difference in pricing between the US shares and the ordinary shares priced in Korea. The other, the other issue with Korea is the amount of leverage that's been going on in the Korean stock market. And as companies come down in value the margin clerk calls and says you gotta sell. And until that margin selling pressure finishes I do expect some more volatility within the chip market. Now there is has been some positive news relative to chip as Cadence Design Systems reported better than expected news and up their guidance. Cadence software is used for designing chip by companies like Nvidia and even SKK Hynek. Now Cadence Systems has moved up a little bit and is recovering from the sell off in software stock which has been ongoing. Many of the software stocks have moved from bear market territory into correction territory, meaning they're down less than 20% from their highs. One of the leading software companies of course is Microsoft and they report tomorrow night. Now when Microsoft reports tomorrow night, do be prepared for were focused on cloud, the cloud business, cloud growth and Azure. Number one and two on Microsoft's capital expenditures cap. The market has been looking for these companies to at least maintain their capex, not necessarily to cut capital expenditures but to at least maintain their guidance. I am of the belief that the market after, especially after Google's report last week is very cold cautious on companies that are increasing their capital expenditures around artificial intelligence. As questions have been coming up about return on investment. Amazon, which reports on Thursday night, faces some of the same questions Microsoft does as Amazon. With Microsoft, Google and Meta are considered the large hyperscalers, not only the big spenders but also big data center companies that have been, we'll say, supersizing their spending around artificial intelligence. And at this point the market is starting to question how big the return on investment is going to be. So not only does Microsoft as well as Amazon have to show growth in their cloud and data center business, but they have to be able to show that they're able to pay for these with positive free cash flow, something that Google was lacked as Google stock went down with the increase in spending and a big notice of negative free cash cash flow. Now some positive Apple favorite Apple also reports on Thursday night. I think they are going to beat the numbers. I think they're going to issue as they normally do, fairly conservative of guidance and a focus. There is going to be of course on margins going forward given price increases around component part. Now there was an additional reiteration of a sell BY1 analyst KeyBank which came out with a sell last week on Apple and a price target $150 below mine. There's this 25050 minus 400 there. KeyBank is concerned with price increases on component parts, reduced margins and reduced sales of Apple's we'll say signature products. Now not so much to counter this but today the official announcement of Apple's hookup with Klarna to lease phones on a one, two or three year basis and also give the option of purchasing phones and other products at the end of the lease or getting a new a new phone on an upgrade basis. This business does help Klarna as well as Apple with we'll say constant sales and constant upgrades. But it does put Apple in competition with phone Companies such as AT&T Verizon and T Mobile among others who have their own, we'll say own program programs where you will say pay monthly and get an upgrade every two or three years. Prices start for the iPhone products around $18 a month and go up from there. I think it's an interesting program, probably a program that Apple, they had run many years ago where they were doing the leasing and upgrading. But this is through Klarna and I think it gives another avenue for people to get to know Apple's, Apple's product. Two numbers around Apple to know 2.5 billion iOS products out there and 1.5 billion iPhone users. So you can do the math in terms of upgrades which will be on a continual basis. Every time you upgrade you're going to be paying more. Forget the upgrade, you know, for the the cost of the upgrade, but you're going to be paying more for additional services that you're going to need. Apple is definitely a free Excellent advice
