Gabe Reavers
doesn't matter we're going we're not oh
Matthew Olson
here we go hang on that's off
Joe Sugere
okay turn it off did it happen maybe when you hit the crawl did you do something when you hit the
Matthew Olson
crawl the crawl was already going no
Joe Sugere
it wasn't going then gabe hit the crawl and then the bleep hit the fan may i just say something about the beautiful weather we've been enjoying it's a good and i don't want to go into one of my curmudgeonly there we go i don't want to go into one of my curmudgeonly weather deals but it's just a shame that it all was forecasted so cataclysmically yes it just it's just a shame we've had normal beautiful summer days and it's a ratings bit they're trying to get your attention and they they advertise the possibility of severe weather and storms and and if it's going to be ninety how much precaution you should take and stay hydrated that it's it's really i understand it i get it but the record today was one hundred and four in nineteen thirty six and people survive people you can suffer i understand that but we've had some beautiful the last few days have just been beautiful summer days and they're just they just are it just it's a cataclysm it's just we're it's a calamity that it's this hot no it's not it's it's been ninety before in the twin cities it'll be ninety again and unfortunately it's coming again this week as the week goes on it's supposed to get back up into the nineties and we'll do the same thing again you know stand under a tree and make you sure you drink water and it's it's okay it's okay to enjoy nice summer days without thinking it's the end of the world i
Gabe Reavers
got some great advice from a local we have we had a whole big day planned for the fourth pancakes in the morning events all afternoon parade at two thirty pork chops norman rockwell pork pork chops in the evening fireworks and i asked the local on i think thursday or friday what are we going to do if these storms come to fruition on saturday and he said we'll roll with it yeah well it doesn't get any more gl than that you
Joe Sugere
know i got to tell you something i just heard there i don't like pancakes i'm sorry i just don't like
Gabe Reavers
pancakes i am not surprised i just
Joe Sugere
don't like them what's the point it's just it's it's they're very weak what
Gabe Reavers
about waffles are you down with a
Joe Sugere
waffle i could do a waffle occasionally i i you know maybe once every
Matthew Olson
five years pancakes have to be dense
Joe Sugere
pancakes are they're just dull no no
Matthew Olson
they have to be dense and with some blueberries in them i like a
Joe Sugere
nice they have to be matthew have
Matthew Olson
to be otherwise you throw them right back at the wa wow wow or the fireman pancakes in a restaurant north pole pancakes or keys pancakes are the
Gabe Reavers
best joe there's entire restaurants dedicated to
Matthew Olson
north pole and highway six
Gabe Reavers
pancake hoose
Joe Sugere
pancake who's whatever the hell but they
Matthew Olson
can't be light and fluffy they need to be dense because that's where you get the good taste okay no one
Joe Sugere
except this show god and alpha news has commented on this woman school board member in saint paul named chantill allen who is an insidious wreckage on the school board she should not be on the school board her latest example of that was we talked about this before we took a fourth of july break she was calling on dog owners they have their dogs go and urinate all over graves of white christians this was her response to the minnehaha dog park kerfuffle and no comment from the school board the papers haven't covered it she made national news there are national outlets dedicated to things like this and she made the national news but that has had no impact here and it's just a shame should not be a school board member period she's got at least three strikes against her the japanese restaurant incident where she tried to foam in a racial problem the invading the twin cities church in january to complain about ice that's a felony charge and now this ridiculous comment about where you should walk your dogs this is can we have some class on it can we what what how can the school board possibly allow this what how can she be a school board member you parents you're entrusting your children to the likes of this insidious fool and it's just a crying shame nothing will improve with this kind of attitude she doesn't deserve to be on the school board right
Gabe Reavers
what positive contribution has she made to society to justify her position with that school board what has she done i can't come up with one yeah what has she done to further the american experiment experience yeah well what name me
Joe Sugere
one thing can't do it her remarks have drawn national attention but the state's alpha news calls it the state's legacy media i just call it there are local traditional news gathering agencies including the television stations haven't said a thing this this parents and taxpayers should be should
Matthew Olson
be accommodated those are pretty strong words and if they're reversed there would be
Joe Sugere
parents and and she's not backed away from her comments she doesn't apologize she doesn't she doesn't acknowledge her wrongdoing at all and i don't know how this can be excused as mere activist babble it's deranged and she shouldn't be on the school board and she is part of a group see school boards i know this i know we no longer live and leave it to beaverland but school boards used to be responsible parents were involved in school boards some of them even wore a tie you know that's how screwed up they were i
Matthew Olson
think you're saying that some of them were not all of them were not
Joe Sugere
activists no but now it's just another spot for activists to land and these are activists with a billion dollar budget they don't know anything about budgeting they don't know anything about education they don't know very much about anything at all and i don't know how they get elected but we'll have to fall back on our observation from about three weeks ago they're apparently getting elected because this is who the people want okay that
Gabe Reavers
that's part of my question are we falling into her trap us alpha national media by giving her publicity is this what she wants is to her all publicity is good publicity no but this
Joe Sugere
is publicity that should disqualify her well
Gabe Reavers
i agree with that but i'm wondering if we're just playing right into her
Joe Sugere
hands she'll get away with the anti ice publicity because every other house in minnesota has an ice get out sign in the porch window and she'll get away with the bs she pulled at the japanese restaurant three or four years ago but she shouldn't get away with this this is an absolute sign of derangement she is calling for the destruction of cemetery property if you want to look at it like that yes that's
Matthew Olson
how i look at it all right and that's the worst thing to say is to quote piss on somebody's grave i don't care who you are it's
Joe Sugere
just insidious it's just a shame she brings nothing she has no joy she brings nothing to her life i'm sorry she brings nothing to the school board table except this bitterness and this vengeful attitude about life in jealousy and it's just these are kids going to school let's make it a great experience for them let's budget properly let's make sure they learn how to read write and do rithmetic this woman has nothing to do with any of that why is she on the school board i will make an attempt to call the president of the school board you can look him up for me his name escapes me i looked it up this morning and i will attempt to have him on the air i doubt that he'll come on they apparently are all spineless none of them has spoken up against this the local newspapers are and i know i'm always in the position of seemingly defending them uriah ward uriah ward i would love to have mister ward on to see what are there is there a means is there a process by which this woman can be severely disciplined or i think that would only
Gabe Reavers
first further her cause joke i think i think right now we're inadvertently working for her i think this is exactly what she wants and without social media nobody would know about this hack of a human and all she wants to do is further this race division where black and whites just cannot get along
Joe Sugere
no matter what well then don't tell me that any of this is done on behalf of children because she doesn't know how to treat children it's done on behalf of her done on behalf
Gabe Reavers
of her yeah and her movement and however she profits and done on behalf
Joe Sugere
of the mystery one hundred percent and we're seeing much of government behaving only for themselves and not for us over
Gabe Reavers
and over again yes but we've been
Joe Sugere
down that road and we don't know what we can do other than continue to point it out it's just it's just terrible she's she's she's just terrible
Matthew Olson
oh she's terrible she terrible so she ran against molly coleman in the election for saint paul city council she wanted
Joe Sugere
to offer game she wanted to get a city council gift chantill allen and
Matthew Olson
molly coleman beat her she chantel was
Gabe Reavers
fourth yeah well that just furthers my point this is all part of her process to end up in the city council or a senator representative and up and onward with the mystery and her
Matthew Olson
point of view are you saying the days of not the cleaver gang but the school board people i'm looking at the list here of people who are on the board and it's it's people not named michael smith let me review
Joe Sugere
for you okay the closer you get to the country's tallest buildings the more likely you are to discover that these various entities city councils school boards various commissions are loaded with professional activists and again we have to back off a little and say well they were voted in and apparently the closer you get to the country's tallest buildings i think i can back this up statistically in a moment the closest you are to the country's tallest buildings you are more than likely to find the mystery is underway it's attempting to be brought about now an example would be local private schools are short or falling short of their admission goals there's a couple of reasons for that one i'll just stick to private catholic schools of which there are many in the twin cities one of the reasons they're falling short of their admission goals is that tuition keeps increasing well tuition keeps increasing because there are fewer and fewer religious people to serve in the roles of teachers there was a day when i went to hill i think there were maybe four lay teachers there and the rest were christian brothers okay the brothers are short of people there's not a lot of young guys running into the brotherhood they
Matthew Olson
don't want to go all the way
Joe Sugere
to become a brother right and so that's part of it so now the private schools are stuck with paying they have to pay the teachers obviously and the tuition goes up the other reason is i think parents with kids and i don't have any scientific evidence of this or empirical evidence but i think they're moving to the suburbs and they're taking their kids with them and i don't think there are as many kids in the cities as there used to be that's just that's a okay so the tuition is a problem and the lack of children is a problem because kids the parents who are concerned and devoted to the health and welfare of their child they're not going to send a kid to a school that has a school board member like this idiot they're just not going to so they're voting with their feet they're leaving they're not around and so we're left the people that live closest to the sustainable urban core we're left with the dregs of society like this chantill allen we're stuck with this creature and it's just a shame that that there's no means available there's there's she's surrounded by such like minded kinfolk that she's presumably not going to suffer for these comments that's a shame that's just a shame it's a it's a great sadness it she should know be she should be nowhere near a school much less a school board managing poorly a billion dollar budget they're not equipped to they don't know how they've never worked they don't know what it means and we're stuck with this and in the meantime you're going to find unfortunately i had to make garage logic prediction number where are we
Matthew Olson
it's twenty forty three twenty forty three
Joe Sugere
some of these long standing wonderful tradition private schools i would say within the next five to ten years are not going to exist if we keep going down this road they're not going to exist because the concerned parent is not going to put up with this bs in the saint paul school board the unconcerned parent doesn't give a bleep so they don't care so there you are
Gabe Reavers
where are we smartest kids i know
Matthew Olson
were homeschooled when i go to the list of endorsements for chantill aaron murphy state rep rena moran aaron murphy is
Joe Sugere
a tremendous disappointment state rep jay zong
Matthew Olson
saint paul council member trala jalali of
Joe Sugere
course rebecca is holly jalali still on
Matthew Olson
the council i think holly have a holly jolly jalali yeah the dfl party it's just saint paul federation of educators they should pull their endorsement why are you endorsing this fool right education minnesota
Joe Sugere
well education minnesota is the biggest union
Matthew Olson
in the state right and there's there's a longer list but it's just i
Joe Sugere
i i don't blame family one bit to say the hell with this i'm moving to chaska or woodbury or blaine or whatever you got to get out of here because this is ridiculous just
Gabe Reavers
please stay in the five county metro area if you don't mind don't come
Matthew Olson
up and see the olson's i don't
Joe Sugere
know where to take this except we'll try to get uriah heapon what's his
Matthew Olson
name uriah wife it's uriah heap remember
John Height
that's his name yeah easy living uriah
Joe Sugere
heap whatever happened to uriah heap
Apollo Representative
if
Gabe Reavers
you want to really get mad and you've probably already read it i just sent via email and it'll be for tomorrow so this is just an aside mom dummy's fourth of july speech
Apollo Representative
go
Gabe Reavers
home read that right before bed and
Joe Sugere
let's talk tomorrow tomorrow here's another problem uriah ward uriah ward here's another problem and we've discussed this problem before and it's with us if you criticize democratic socialists of america if you find fault in mom donnie's thinking even if you find fault in chantille allen's thinking all that means to your opponents is you're a pro trumper that's all it means right yeah that's all it means we've lost the ability for reasonable intellectual conversation
Gabe Reavers
in this country what's funny is when i accidentally stun a lefty by bringing up something that they agree with they're like really you a trumper really you
Joe Sugere
can't win you can't win it's not
Gabe Reavers
cut and dry the way they think it is on social media it's just not that simple
Joe Sugere
of course it isn't but that's the problem in the country now the problem is that the country has lost its ability to have some intellectual discourse my god i think chantille allen's a dreadful dreadful human being i think trump is too so that doesn't mean i'm a trumper but that's what it means out of the country that
Gabe Reavers
means you're a socialist huh that means
Joe Sugere
you're a socialist i'm obviously a communist obviously obviously yeah it's unbelievable it's just
Gabe Reavers
the new leader of the new mystery joe
Joe Sugere
well i tell you what i will pursue this because i somebody has to somebody has to pursue this this woman should not be on a school board anywhere in the world she couldn't be on a school board in russia
Gabe Reavers
suburb well i just i see her in her lair rubbing her palms together
Joe Sugere
going this is what i needed i
Gabe Reavers
think we might just be furthering her cause by talking about it i think
Joe Sugere
you're correct on her first two incidents of infamy i i i can't believe well maybe maybe i'm being naive maybe mysterians are so predominantly in encased now in all these entities that they can get away with whatever they want no
Matthew Olson
because you still have old school retirees
Joe Sugere
from wherever who don't have kids what
Gabe Reavers
do they care why aren't they matthew white boomers breeders come on man white
Joe Sugere
female karens remember that great thing i read about two weeks ago yeah you insidious no but matthew if you're if
Gabe Reavers
you're old and you're white and you're straight you are the enemy you are a bad person that's the mystery but
Matthew Olson
you still have a vote for saint paul's school board you do have nothing but time to vote you don't have to do absentee ballot and all that stuff why isn't the word out it's
Joe Sugere
clear that molly coleman who i'm grateful won the city council seat over chantill allen but it's clear that you know son of son daughter of the former mayor chris coleman i'm sure she's been well educated she's probably an attorney isn't she well mysterious to a certain degree but it's clear that she just was set out for public life i mean she was going to be a school board member right that didn't work out so she shifted the was it didn't she want to run for school board
Matthew Olson
molly coleman looking her up right now
Joe Sugere
maybe i got that wrong it was chantill allen was school board that wanted to be city council okay but it's clear that these are family mysterian dynasties that we're dealing with
Matthew Olson
as the former
Joe Sugere
governor would say molly colemanoff no i don't know molly i don't know anything about her chris chris was you know winston churchill compared to the chris what's his name who proceeded who followed him melvin melvin melvin carter my god okay
Matthew Olson
so here's the deal born and raised in frogtown who molly proud graduate of frogtown i was born in frogtown grew up on the west side proud graduate of saint paul public schools i learned spanish at adam spanish immersion and learned what it meant to be a passionate engaged member of our community at central high school she interned for al frank in two thousand eight minnesota young dfl worked as an outreach coordinator for the state party president of the central high school democrats crossed over to the university of wisconsin for college but came back to intern at women winning for senator klobuchar's dc and minneapolis offices is she an attorney i began my full time career working in education oh let's see it doesn't say where though i'd have to go down a little bit further jo you are correct so i decided to go to harvard law school because i wanted to gain a set of tools that would enable me to better fight for systematic justice she fighting she fighting well she found the legal system and too often the legal profession was not designed to be a tool to fight the law that has been rigged in service of powerful interests putting corporations
Joe Sugere
over people i heard a story and i'll tell it i'll tell you this story because i'm sure it's true in fact i know it is i think the oldest retail store in saint paul is abbott's paint and wallpaper okay grand and fairview right been around a long time been successful great family involved right mike abbott's the current president and this was told to me by a reliable source i could call mike and ask him but i'm sure it's true there's construction at grand and fairview right and he wanted to accommodate his customers by putting a side door to the store on fairview so people could park and get into it it's a vacant lot right now he could get into the store and he said he wanted to meet he had to jump through some
John Height
hoops
Joe Sugere
the city council person who represents will you look that up that would be the highland area wouldn't it it'd be either highlander matt groveland her name escapes me she was too busy to meet with him i'm sure there was some diversity conference she had to attend you know i think that the when the oldest retailer in saint paul who's been employing people and paying that long if you want to meet with the city council person i think they should find time to meet with it's like
Gabe Reavers
a scene out of a cartoon that city council person should have been standing face to face before that merchant hung up the phone that's how fast that city council person should have reacted getting
Matthew Olson
anywhere yeah i am i'm on the council i'm looking for jorah help me
Joe Sugere
jorah well then an aide was sent instead the council person's aide was sent and said no you can't sora jost sarah jost s a u r a sura jost and apparently an aide was sent well i'll make the long story short it cost him fourteen grand because he had to produce architectural drawings and all this other bs to get a door to get a door and nobody
Matthew Olson
in common sense could say where come
Joe Sugere
on people and you can't be dismissive of this stuff you can't say oh well he can afford it or well that's the that's what you got no b as in b s as in s help the retailer accommodate his customers
Matthew Olson
we that's how much that's not what
Joe Sugere
the mystery's about the mystery is about why should he have a story that works right and i'm particularly incensed by
Matthew Olson
that yeah because you need because i
Joe Sugere
have spent a lot of time buying stuff at abbott's did you ever tell
Matthew Olson
mike abbott the joke about the red
Gabe Reavers
paint no what would happen ask for forgiveness instead of asking for permission you
Joe Sugere
know what i'm saying i thought the same thing though i thought the same thing these people are so inattentive except when you alert them to something who would have noticed he put a door
Gabe Reavers
up right but instead like matthew said instead of fourteen it would be twenty
Joe Sugere
eight god almighty god and that's because
Matthew Olson
some karen walking on her walk on fairview said they had a new door did they get a permit for that
Gabe Reavers
again the five county area just stay in the five hundred and twenty area
Joe Sugere
makes you want to just sit back and smoke a cigar and drink oh wait i don't drink anymore but i still smoke cigars they got good mocktails i don't like mocktails they're too sugary but i like a cigar that's been kept fresh in a boveda humidor there you go because boveda humidors you guys remember now that was that was invented by guys who visit us at the state fair and they went and did this and they tom swale and shawn knudsen and they were at the state fair back in the nineties and they came up with the boveda humidor well first thing they came up with was the humidor pack the boveda pack and you put that but here's the deal now they have the humidor and the beauty of a boveda humidor is you don't do anything put the boveda humidity pack in there put your cigars in there six months later change the humidity pack bing bang boom that's maintenance freeze oh you don't have to fool around with sponges and distilled water and checking gauges and hoping it works out no it's high end performance every single time it's a beautiful wood humidor traditional look modern precision and zero maintenance all you have to do is enjoy the humidor bovedahumador dot com bovedahumador is one word b o v e d a humidor bovadahumador dot com hail the flashlight king
Matthew Olson
thank you for that extra one are
Joe Sugere
we on nothing's worth over the still
Apollo Representative
on there we got that there's no breaks this is cool okay
Matthew Olson
all right so we're gonna keep going gabe tell
Gabe Reavers
me when i can talk about cirrhosis of the river because we had a big fourth of july weekend with the city own pontoon the garage logic owned
Joe Sugere
pontoon you can do it right now
Gabe Reavers
you really want okay so as you know the city owned pontoon of gl cirrhosis of the river we made the tour this year you know instead of going to parades in towns we did pontoon parades oh fun i admit it was a little touch and go hold on i gotta put on my hat
Joe Sugere
hardly novel look at this oh look
Gabe Reavers
at skipper there we go my seafoam hat we launched it joe at broken toe you've been down to broken toe lately yes wonderful little lake little touch and go because you know i'm a last dropper and that includes bad gasoline so i dumped in about a half a can of seafoam marine pro into last year's gasoline and i'll admit when i when i caught when i fired it up it coughed and it was smoking like a hippie at a dead show but it eventually it evened out and ended up purring like a kitty for the rest of the day and we hit all the lakes in gumption county it was huge fun but i wanted to mention somebody asked me you said you put seafoam in marine gas actually seafoam was invented it was invented for outboard engines it works to clean all the critical engine areas stabilizes fuel up to two years by the way and it works in both two stroke and four stroke gasoline marine engines inboard outboard board doesn't matter add marine pro to every tank of fuel to help clean the entire system a cleaner engine it's going to help it starts faster runs smoother lasts longer and once again it saved the day for the cirrhosis of the river oh and the many bikini clad moms lining the banks of those lakes thanks gals i got a
Joe Sugere
new name for those moms i'll tell you when we come back
Josh Arnold
is that
Joe Sugere
a cylinder index or his golf score either way it's a big number here's joe sucere you know you you mentioned bikini clad moms okay before you go
Gabe Reavers
any further i broke my rule of not waving when you're in the pontoon parade you have to wave at people on the show i was going to
Matthew Olson
ask i was gonna ask about that
Joe Sugere
i think from now on i refer to them as landman moms land man you ever watch landman yeah i know the reference okay the mom in landman is just goofy and she's out there and she's active and i think i got you she's interested in males i call them landman moms it's not much of a story is it it's not
Matthew Olson
but now i know what you're referencing when you say landman have you seen landman i have not seen landman that's
Gabe Reavers
wonderful i debated saying this on the air i guess i'm gonna have to god bless the person that invented the bikini thank you whoever you are well
Joe Sugere
i think i know that answer to that i think it's a french invention i don't i think from the fifties in the nineteen fifties could be yeah see we have a minneapolis city council member a mysterion named asia chug tie the old chugger chuggy chugs modern bikini
Matthew Olson
i just i hadn't get my computer caught up here catch up the modern bikini is a revolutionary women's two piece swimsuit consisting of a bra top and
Joe Sugere
can we just cut to the chase
Matthew Olson
what invented by french engine engineer louis thank you on july fifth nineteen forty six oh early at the piscine molitor in paris piscine is a beach i
Gabe Reavers
see and joe i was going to propose the wearing of bikinis all summer
Joe Sugere
everywhere but the original nineteen forty six bikini would seem like a full dressed
Matthew Olson
wardrobe rayard named the revealing garment after bikini atoll that's an island the pacific island where the us was testing nuclear weapons at the time because he anticipated the design would cause an explosive cultural
Gabe Reavers
reaction little known fact i actually wear one when i'm on my zero oh
Matthew Olson
my god i can't close my eyes
Joe Sugere
right now well the old chugger is taking a month long leave because she has some anxiety and some depression that's not to be made light of that is real i don't doubt that the only difference is that we have to pay for that now if you came down with that and you weren't here for a month you wouldn't be getting paid or better yet the public wouldn't be paying for you got it i don't doubt that she could be suffering from these illnesses they're real i don't doubt that but she said that she hasn't been taking care of herself and she wants to be energized and and i was just amazed that she finds the challenges so difficult i don't know why she ran that in the first
Gabe Reavers
place i've got bad news in minnesota you can take up to twelve weeks of paid medical leave and a benefit year for serious mental health conditions yeah
Matthew Olson
that's part of that minnesota leave act
Gabe Reavers
applies if a licensed health care provider certified certifies that you have a qualifying condition requiring outgoing treatment or recovery well
Joe Sugere
i suppose the taxpayer is involved then because the family leave act is going to tax you to accommodate these absences
Matthew Olson
you'll get paid i don't know if it's eighty or ninety percent of your salary in your absence however the state is a couple of months behind so don't expect that paycheck the next week
Joe Sugere
after you file but chuggs is a democratic socialist one of many on the city council and she represents lake calhoun east isles lowry hill so she's responsible in large part for the just the absence of a vibe there now there's not much going on in that area it's kind of run down lake in hennepin used to be very vibrant oh my god yes it's not as vibrant as it once was she is the council person for that area and again she was elected so she must have been the one the people of that area wanted and she has found it a bit overwhelming and she's going to take care of it and i can't
Matthew Olson
do we even have the uptown art fair which if we do is probably just going to be a sliver of what it used to be i think
Gabe Reavers
it might have been moved to a
John Height
different date okay i thought it happened
Matthew Olson
this year already that was just remember that was a main event of the summer and i've heard nothing about it
Gabe Reavers
joe who's representing that ward in her absence do we know that it doesn't
Joe Sugere
say i i don't know it's been poorly represented with her there so i i don't know what'll happen with her not there her her office will remain open she only expects to miss one city council meeting which is scheduled for
Matthew Olson
july sixteenth unlike ellison who wanted to miss every meeting and still get fully
Joe Sugere
paid for it yeah they're they're they don't whatever is troubling her and again i'm not i'm not doubting that it can't be caused by hard work they're
Gabe Reavers
not there that often now you'll remember chuggy is the one that went to
Joe Sugere
cuba yeah chugs went to cuba oh by the way venezuela that horrible earthquake kind of went by under our radar either we weren't on the air or you know they they're they're they're somewhat handicapped in venezuela by no food and no medicine oh wait they had no food no medicine before the earthquake good old socialism so chugs i don't know if the same thing happened if you're aware that these socialist dictatorships don't work out too well they never have they never will i don't know if that's chug's she certainly enjoyed her cuba visit
Gabe Reavers
i think the breach brief reading that i've done which is very brief it sounds like they were doing okay before socialism got a lot of oil down
Joe Sugere
there if you go back far enough it was a really really successful country yeah and then it just slowly slowly gave into the mystery and then the country was completely ruined but i think we own it now don't we or
Matthew Olson
oh boy i think yeah i'm not sure if the name has been changed
Joe Sugere
but you know they don't have any heavy equipment where is the equipment to get in there and lift these slabs of concrete off they're done finding people those miracles are done i think they found one as late as six days found a guy but dreadful dreadful situation and again because it's run the way it's run there is no way they can survive it there is no way they can provide help there is no way they can clean it up it's going to take forever they have no food they have no medicine they have no equipment that's the story of the mystery the mystery doesn't worry about anything except the mystery and chugs you're right in there with him so hang in there chuggy i hope you feel better and come back and and and turn that lake in that uptown area into the vibrant community it once was before the mystery helped decimate it and i'm sure that'll be blamed on covid and george floyd and everything else but it's also blamed on retail to pay fourteen grand to get a door so you gotta you just don't know what's going to happen to you when you're in the sustainable urban core no i was just there i'm trying to remember why i was
Matthew Olson
you were on a you weren't on your scooter i was there
Gabe Reavers
a month ago they were the block that had calhoun square is under construction the south half of that block what are they constructed they tore down the old they're putting up the new okay

Gabe Reavers
yeah well they don't understand how life really works
Joe Sugere
for sure they wouldn't be having a nice garage floor that's for
Matthew Olson

Joe Sugere

Gabe Reavers
the falls yeah that's a deep pool
John Height
right there yeah yeah and apparently from the stories i read because of the heat a lot of people were just kind of hanging around the water jumping
Matthew Olson
in the water it's a great place to swim but you just have to go down about a hundred yards where there's that open field yeah i was gonna say that's wonderful for families it's
Gabe Reavers
actually an official waiting area you know you're allowed to do it there yes
Joe Sugere

Joe Sugere
to the i like bergam until that but then he just got off my list he's buying this bs he's gonna buy it that vandals did this that's
John Height
not true trump says a three hundred fifty foot gash was cut into the
Joe Sugere
pool's liner bs it's a lie so
John Height
it's hard to believe yeah and burgum basically said that wasn't true he said
Joe Sugere
they sent him out to do the sunday morning shows yeah he said it
John Height
was a lot of lift little cuts
Joe Sugere
apparently b as in b s as
Matthew Olson
i think we just got a really bad contractor that didn't know his head

Joe Sugere
give him another fourteen million burgum said
John Height
the repairs will not be opened up to new contractors authorities have arrested more than half a dozen people in relation to reflecting pool damage that includes former olympian david hearn who was indicted last week on a felony of property destruction the top federal prosecutor in the district of columbia us attorney attorney janine pirro said hearn ripped up recently installed sealant on the pool in what was called

Joe Sugere
person i would not have guessed new
John Height
hampshire you might there might be a little asphalt risk connected to this because the in state and out of state shoppers come in because they have no sales tax in new hampshire on their
Matthew Olson
alcohol beating the system yeah so you
John Height
cross the border and you get your beer and your booze the top five states in terms of annual gallons per person sold new hampshire number one at
Joe Sugere
thirty five point six gallons wisconsin's got
John Height
to be in there it's not oddly
Apollo Representative

John Height
montana's second at thirty four gallons per person vermont three at thirty three point three gallons my home state north dakota is number four at twenty nine point six annual gallons per person oregon twenty nine point three is number five minnesota is down in the middle of the list twenty two point nine gallons purchased per person wisconsin beats minnesota though they're up a little bit in the list around twenty i hate losing to

Matthew Olson
behind the mountains the whole time what's
Joe Sugere

Joe Sugere
saw the pictures look like a bunch of legos square you know mud huts or something i don't know kind of like that yeah that looked like woodbury
John Height

Joe Sugere
happened the clerk gave him a head start before she hit the button i
Gabe Reavers
was just going to say they'd let
Joe Sugere
him go on purpose she she gave him a head start he got away
Gabe Reavers
it's like the towel boy in the
Joe Sugere

Joe Sugere
it's the end of the world as we know it and he feels fine joe sugiray i hesitate to bring this up but it's such a notable sensation of minnesota that i must but you'll know why i hesitate to bring it up okay we're now learning that post it notes this is where you're probably going to try to tell me your uncle what do you
Matthew Olson
want to know yeah what can i tell you about post notes you're so
Joe Sugere
full of bs three m of course invented post it notes because two scientists created a paper you could post just about anywhere with the stick them on
Matthew Olson
the back just a little stick slice
Joe Sugere
and no one knew they needed post it notes until they were invented john benovitz chief technology officer at three m said according to him it was three m scientist spencer silver who took the first steps to creating post it notes so you have nothing your family has
Matthew Olson
nothing to do with this what's mister hi o silver away what's his name
Joe Sugere
he was working on a new way to make adhesives it didn't perform the way he wanted to but he didn't stop there he kept thinking how can this be used useful then the second three m scientist art fry came into
Matthew Olson
the story my uncle knew art he
Joe Sugere
did know art fry while practicing with his church choir fry became frustrated as his bookmarks kept falling out of the hymnal wondering how he could keep it in place he recalled the adhesive silver was working on he put two and two together and realized maybe if i use this adhesive that my fred spence has created that can help me with this banovitz said so it came to be that the post it note hit the store shelves and into homes and businesses everywhere in nineteen eighty they're only that recent nineteen eighty very recent this
Matthew Olson
is like late seventies early eighties according
Joe Sugere
to three m they now sell nearly are you ready yeah one hundred billion post it notes around the world damn
Matthew Olson
it if uncle john just would have
Joe Sugere
went to church now what was his
Matthew Olson
role in this my uncle john yeah
Joe Sugere
john banovitz is the current technology officer at three m you're not referring to
Matthew Olson
him no my uncle john maddock who worked for three m at a short time i think it was about three three or four months and he was in the lab he was in the paper lab and they were trying to
Joe Sugere
put you had nothing to do with
Matthew Olson
they were trying to stack papers and he just said why don't we take just a little not glue but just a little bit of a stickum so all these papers can be stacked but you can accordion like pull them apart or you know disperse them as you
Joe Sugere
need did he get any no he
Matthew Olson
got boxed out compensation no you're not
Gabe Reavers
you're not living high off the hog
Matthew Olson
no he got boxed out and he was really mad and i'm sure he said some things that you know gabriel
Gabe Reavers
you might have a lawsuit here you
Matthew Olson
could pursue john maddock john mattock yeah he was a very good enter for three am well he only worked there a short time when probably nineteen seventy nine was it seventy nine because i was eleven years old i was was
Gabe Reavers
it longer than one week no it
Matthew Olson
was three months or something like that but he did he did and then this is he got boxed out he was they they you've tried you've sold
Joe Sugere
us this before it doesn't work the
Matthew Olson
restraining order after the third month probably sealed the deal that he wouldn't be
Joe Sugere
coming back a restraining order he was
Matthew Olson
a one man protester out there i invent post it note three m tried
Gabe Reavers
to get rid of him was his sign a giant post it note yes
Matthew Olson
i mean the dude was clever as
Joe Sugere
hell joe frequently i was going to
Gabe Reavers
ask you joe how many how many do you think you have just at your desk at work right now me
Joe Sugere

Gabe Reavers

Joe Sugere
i have him in the other room
Gabe Reavers

Joe Sugere
over your desk five hundred it will
Matthew Olson
just say on his desk dashboard tabs yeah and then he underlines it my
Joe Sugere
dashboard is a bulletin board for post
Matthew Olson
notes yes stamps yeah there's nothing reminder it's just one word and then they're
Gabe Reavers
gone you know who's bummed out about the post it note industry who the guys that make push pins they are
Joe Sugere
really pr damn near put them out of business you can still get a push pin but it's not the same
Gabe Reavers
well you really have to go searching
Matthew Olson
for well you can't put them on your dashboard that's the way i only
Gabe Reavers
have five you could in your car
Matthew Olson
yeah and they would stick to yeah
Gabe Reavers
i've got five in front of me joe push p oh yeah no post it notes one is the list of us with the term ass ass hat is joe yeah jackass is chris dumbass is matt oh yeah wise ass is john smart ass is me who's what's

logicians it's monday but that doesn't mean you can forsake your finances that's why i picked up the phone and i dialed nine five two nine two five five six zero eight again that number is nine five two nine two five five six zero eight for a direct line to mister moneytalk himself for a free no obligation financial consultation that's right free and no obligation that means that there's no reason for you to not pick up that phone josh i'm curious if you hear that ringing is it the trump ringing the bell for the trump accounts or is that the world cup and its effect on the us economy
Apollo Representative
both both this was a very historic event at the white house this morning the president rang the opening bell both the new york stock exchange and nasdaq this was to commemorate the opening on july fourth of the new trump retirement accounts primarily aimed at newborns though you can participate in the trump account up to age eighteen these accounts i'll say seed a retirement account that can be set up through the bank of new york or i do believe robinhood and several other places these could be set up by parents of newborns born between twenty twenty five and twenty twenty eight unless this bill is extended the idea behind this is to give children a jump start towards retirement for those born prior to twenty twenty five parents or grandparents can contribute up to five thousand dollars into these accounts but if your child is born between twenty twenty five and twenty twenty eight this to me would make a of lot a lot of sense to apply for these accounts and justice with the one thousand dollars only for the initial seating of the account if nothing is added and the money is invested in an s and p index fund and the average long term return when i say long term we're not talking one year or five years or ten years we're talking very long term dating back to twenty twenty eight so it's a year after my mother who just celebrated her ninety nint birthday was born if she was given a thousand dollars back then put in a retirement account with an average return of ten percent and if you can think of the not only the economy from nineteen twenty eight to today if you can think of the stock market from nineteen twenty eight to today there were an awful lot of ups and awful lot of down and during that period of time you had a great market crash you had a depression you had world war you had several quote unquote police actions in korea and vietnam we had stag in the nineteen seventies and high interest rate interest rates dropping we had tax increases tax cut we had two significant drawdowns in the in the stock market in nineteen ninety seven and nineteen ninety eight then we had the internet bubble pop then we had the mortgage crisis so through all of that thick and thin markets ups and downs down the s and p has averaged a little better than ten percent over that period of time so if my mother was given one thousand dollars when she was born put into a retirement account and these trump accounts convert at age eighteen to a traditional ira which means in a traditional ira if you take any money out prior to age fifty nine and a half it adds to your income plus there's a ten percent certain tax on that so there's a lot of taxes and disincentive to take money from your retirement account but if that money was held until she was seventy that thousand dollars at ten percent a year would grow to one hundred thirty two thousand dollars you might think well that peanuts well that's one hundred thirty two thousand dollars more than somebody would have at that point in time and if you look at people people who hit seventy or people who are eligible for retirement before that or even after that or the amount of their net worth is is not even that great very very bad and if somebody were to add the maximum that be allowed to be contributed at birth so it's one thousand dollars plus the five thousand pulled that to age seventy with an average return of twenty ten percent now we're talking over three quarters of a million dollars that becomes very very significant over a period of time i think these are tremendous accounts and do encourage two things retirement saving and the importance of starting early in contributing to these programs as well as encouraging people to understand our economic system we'll say the capitalist system understanding what companies do and i will say when i was very young my father who i kind of tried when he was alive you were such a tyrant you made me work you made me work when i needed money then when i earned that money you said you can't spend that you've got to either save or invest that so i learned early about savings and investment and that did peak an interest in learning about stocks and bonds and eventually becoming an investment advisor nonetheless i think that it's a very very important step in the right direction of course there are a lot of people that won't participate in these programs because of the president's name around the account i mean there is a formal name but they're going to be be known as trump account additionally there's going to be separate money that will be made available to people in certain zip codes by the michael and susan dell foundation michael dell founded dell computer a long time ago he will contribute to these accounts up to two hundred fifty dollars for people in certain zip codes and again it's a way for people to establish some real money over over time very very important development meantime world cup action continues tonight as the us takes on belgium in a round of sixteen match in the world cup which is considered one of the biggest sporting events world worldwide millions and millions of people watch watching this event held in north north america so in sites in canada mexico and the us is estimated to contribute about seventeen billion dollars to the us economy again over they're only talking about a two month period of time and it should help companies as diverse as google for the for the advertising tko you probably know tko from ultimate fighting and worldwide entertainment so pro pro wrestling but they also have a division called on location which provides services at major event whether that's movies sporting events etcetera then you have a little company like booking dot com which is you've probably formerly known them as as priceline and if they they work out that could help airbnb and expedia and it could also be a boost for several of the airlines those major airlines should be up with the price of oil coming down then you have some of the pred market although that is going to be very very competitive that's not only draftkings but fanduel kelsey and polymarket which are private but there are other companies or other prediction markets coming on board whether it be from robinhood interactive brokers and other very very competitive market environment they are not all going to be winners but they will all try to get you know more customers so marketing expenses could go up there then you have uber for travel as well and then some of the advertisers including old time favorite coca cola coke is it and coke just touched a fifty two week high so if you've got children or grandchildren look to open that special account and enjoy with your coca cola a potential us victory over belgium but that's going to be an interesting match you heard him gio

Episode Title: Mental Breakdowns, Sacred Land, and Silence from the Board
Date: July 6, 2026
Host: Joe Soucheray (“The Mayor”) with Matthew Olson, Gabe Reavers, John Height, and others
Network: Gamut Podcast Network
This episode of Garage Logic dives into the week’s local controversies, the culture and politics of Minnesota cities, and old-fashioned common sense from the seat of "Gumption County." The hosts grapple with issues ranging from school board controversies and city council members’ public breakdowns, to gun violence, local bureaucracy, and nostalgic small-town happenings. The tone is conversational, sardonic, and rooted in the show’s signature “common sense” lens.
The July 6 episode of Garage Logic offers a classic tour of Minnesota’s civic quirks, from heated debates on public officials’ accountability to the lighter side of summer life. Whether challenging the “Mystery” of activist-driven politics or waxing nostalgic about pontoon parades, the hosts keep things rooted in the “logic” of their garage—a place where tradition, skepticism, and neighborly ribbing are always in session.
