But anyway, I gotta tell you what I did yesterday. I was, I went out to Wilmer for North woods league game. The Wilmers got new owner and everything. So the new owner is a 40 year old guy, James Gibson. He's an investment guy like they all are. But I think his dad's in on it too. But his wife is the dance coach at Holy Family.

Attractive young lady. But they got five kids, 12 to six months. All right, all boys, all boys. So she's holding her little nice, nice gal Emily. She's holding her, the boyfriend, the infant, the six month or she's holding the rest of her running around in circles. She's trying to keep track of him. And I said, I said to the kid, the younger one, I said, you know, in about three years your mom's gonna have to tell you how much she wanted you to be a girl, you know? She did. There's no way she wanted another one of these animals running around here.

You get everything at the box office. You pay the league to get in. Then there might be a, you know, a maintenance fee for what you pay to, for umpires and stuff. That work the league. So the league office. But yeah, there's 20, you know, who's going to have a team next year, Dyersville, in that league. They're going to. You know, here's what I was thinking yesterday though.

Do any town ball guys also play in the north woods league?

Once in a while these guys go back and play with their team. You know what they basically now, the pitchers, if they're coming out of college, which is what most of them are freshmen or sophomores, they all come with limits. You know, they play like 70 games or something, but they split the season and they all, you know, okay, you can have my pitcher, but he can only pitch 30 innings or something. So basically they got two different pitching staffs. One for the first half and a bunch of other guys come in for the second half because they're guarding against the winning innings. But Wilmer's second smallest team in the league. Town of the league. But they do well. They've been good out there.

That was for people who are a little off. Yeah, Yeah. Yeah. They closed it some years ago, but Wilbur was. You know, what they used to call it was the funny farm. But we don't do that anymore. This is. Whatever.

No, no, we went up. We were. We were more respectful than that. We got up. Plus, the season didn't start till noon. I mean, you know, they would. If they saw you actually shooting before noon. They might not worry if the body was in the car or not, but.

So when you shot them, did you run out and pick them up? Yeah.

You just go out and pick them up? Yeah, but they're the. What I remember. I kind of remember this. A lot of road hunters. Pheasant hunting opener in southwest Minnesota used to be like a holiday, you know?

So, you know, a couple of times, you know, you'd see another car up there. And I remember the old man said, go ahead, pop him then. See what happened. That guy sees us, he says, well, just pop, then. We'll wait here. So the guy's gonna drive by us and see what's in the back of that car, what's in the back of that station wagon, and why are they parked here on a gravel road? And outside, Ivanho, was Mildred covered up? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. But she hadn't been embalmed as of yet. That was Richard's job. Yeah, that was, you know, that was the hardest part of the job.

I'm not sure. My brother used to help pick up if they died in the hospital at Slayton or Worthington or someplace. But I only had to do that two, three times.

There's actually another son he's hoping to have join him but for the Loretto Larks. And he. He hit. Would have been a home run off the baggie in or. No, it would have been a double off the baggie in the dome. But it was a fly out at this place because it's about 20ft deeper than. But they won. The Loretto Larks survived an elimination game with Hutchinson.

When you stop to think about it, that's really the only way to do it. A notes column at a camp because there's nothing else to say. And that way you can. The things you would never normally write anyway. You can pass those off as notes and they're gobbled up by the reader.

We want you to. We want you to go with this skating coach. We want you to go with this shooting coach. We want you to do this. Plus, you know, just the seasons. If you win any playoff game, the seasons are just longer and mid June. Yeah.

So basically they got two different pitching staffs. One for the first half and a bunch of other guys come in for the second half because they're guarding against the winning innings. But Wilmer's second smallest team in the league. Town of the league. But they do well. They've been good out there.
