The roofing industry is broken and we've got the fix. At HirePro, we help homeowners do the same thing a roofer would do when it hails on their own house. Own the project, delegate the tasks and keep the compensation. But you don't have to take my word for it. You could ask Chrissy. Chrissy, how'd it go?
Chrissy
It went great. You educated us on how everything worked, showed us behind the curtain, so to speak. And after our $25,000 roof was replaced, we walked away with almost $6,000 for the work we put in.
Pete Arnold
And what work was that?
Chrissy
We got the permit and we picked the color. Hire pro handled everything else. You did a great job. And I'm not even being paid to say that. If anyone's listening and has a storm damage claim, call them. Don't hire a roofer, hire a pro.
Pete Arnold
That's awesome. I appreciate the kind words and I think you just made up our new motto. All right, Joe, you're up.
Patrick Reusse
So if insurance has approved your roof replacement, give these guys a call at 651-402-3400 or visit them online at Hire A dot pro. That's H. Uh. Then put the dot there.

Patrick Reusse
Here with reverse. It's the 4th of July week is later in the week.
Joe Soucheray
Saturday, best traffic of the year.
Patrick Reusse
Yes. I cruised in. Saturday is. You know, I was wondering. So back when the Fourth of July would fall on Wednesday.
Joe Soucheray
Yep.
Patrick Reusse
We started the Tuesday afternoon commute and people then came back the following Tuesday probably and took one day of vacation. But a holiday. But I was thinking, so with it on a Saturday, when are they all going to go to the. When are they all going to take off? And we discovered Monday the whole week. That's. That's incredible.
Joe Soucheray
I don't want to out anybody. I'm glad you brought this up today, Patrick. I have two boys playing travel baseball, and I did get a text from one of the two teams and I'm not going to name which one it came from and said, we're heading for Fourth of July vacation. Wanted to say, well, it is Monday, June 29th.
Patrick Reusse
Yes.
Joe Soucheray
But that's okay, though. Those things happen.
Patrick Reusse
Yes. Yes, they do. And you know, Fourth of July, when it was in the. Well, it's still in the middle of Lake week. It's the only one. But yeah, there's. There's not very good attendance in the office any day anymore. But what. What it is on the 4th of
Joe Soucheray
July, as the mayor likes to say, a day like today, you can get a really good parking spot.
Patrick Reusse
Oh, yeah, that's right. We're a little thin out in the Hubbard lot today.
Joe Soucheray
Yes.
Patrick Reusse
We are not real. Everybody kind of points to this week is taking it off. You know, what's the problem is I thought may kind of dragged along for me. I thought it didn't really speed up, but I can't believe June is over. It's just.
Joe Soucheray
It's unbelievable.
Patrick Reusse
Like, you know, going to a couple of ball games. The Twins have already played more than half of their schedule already. You know.
Joe Soucheray
That's right.
Pete Arnold
Where are they at?
Patrick Reusse
82nd. It's. Well, yes, because the All Star. Because these morons keep saying the All Star break is the first half of the second half, even though they played 90 games and they only have 70 left.
Joe Soucheray
I love how much that irritates you.
Patrick Reusse
The second half is when you reach 81 games.
Pete Arnold
Yes.
Patrick Reusse
Then you start playing. Let's have some purity of math here, for God's sake.
Joe Soucheray
You know, and it's funny because, you know, the. I got to give. I got to give the Chris Atterbury a little bit of credit because I'm in the midst of. I rarely get to watch the club on tv. I'm listening mostly on the radio. Driving here and. Yeah, exactly. He had a great line yesterday. Said, well, the Twins are going to escape Minneapolis with a series victory over the Rockies and we're going to get out of the heat and head to Houston, which I thought was a home run. That was a great line yesterday.
Patrick Reusse
They do. I imagine they don't have the rough open very often in Houston.
Joe Soucheray
Have you been to that ballpark?
Patrick Reusse
World Series, Covered the World Series.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, five.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah. Okay. Mighty White, he's beat them.
Joe Soucheray
That's right. When they were still in the National League. Yeah.
Patrick Reusse
Mighty White, he's beat him in four. Yeah, I.
Joe Soucheray
The only time I was at that,
Patrick Reusse
by the way, 11 and 1. They're good that postseason. 11 and 1.
Joe Soucheray
But that team is good this year.
Patrick Reusse
They got some young guys that's, you know, what's going on everywhere in baseball except Minnesota. They're bringing up the kids and letting them play. Where we got Tristan Gray and now cow Pepper's hurt, I guess, over there.
Joe Soucheray
I like this Kreidler kid.
Patrick Reusse
He is. He's not a kid. He's 30.
Joe Soucheray
Is he? Oh, I thought he was younger than that.
Patrick Reusse
No, he's 30. His, you know, his father, longtime sports writer in Sacramento.
Joe Soucheray
That's right. You did bring him up a week or so ago.
Patrick Reusse
As I told you. I talked to him like after I wrote the column about the kid and I talk or I exchange text and. And Kreidler's dad said, yeah, we're going to be up to see him either in Minnesota, either at. Either in Minneapolis or St. Paul. He didn't. He was looking. They were looking for a week when both teams were home, just in case. But what's his story? Not only that he plays good shortstop. I just been an up and downer, you know, I don't think he can play. Yeah. These guys. Well, the good thing they got with him is, you know, he can play shortstop, he can play second base and he can play center field, too. They were very paranoid about having James Altman as a backup center fielder. Who, by the way, I saw what a game the other day for somebody, James Outman. And you know who. You know who's available?
Joe Soucheray
Simeon Woods, Richardson.
Patrick Reusse
Even though he was. But he had like 13 good innings and they got rid of him anyway.
Joe Soucheray
Why did they give. Get rid of him?
Patrick Reusse
I don't know. I don't know.
Joe Soucheray
Because they said we have too many arms, too.
Patrick Reusse
Too much.
Joe Soucheray
Too much pitching.
Patrick Reusse
I don't know if the Twins have replaced Banda, but it looks he Pulled something in his side, so he's got to be on the deal.
Joe Soucheray
So it wasn't an arm issue. It was like a lad or something
Patrick Reusse
like that in there.
Joe Soucheray
Gotcha. Okay.
Patrick Reusse
You know, I'm rooting for former Minnesota State maverick Aaron Rosak.
Joe Soucheray
Nice.
Patrick Reusse
Great pitcher there.
Joe Soucheray
Yep.
Patrick Reusse
He's in St. Paul. He's gotten him out. So. You know, the, the thing about having him replace Panda, though, he throws about 10 miles an hour slower. Rosic. Rosic. One of those crafty left handers. He'd be kind of the. Who was the right handed kid from Canada that started for them. Nice guy.
Joe Soucheray
How long ago?
Patrick Reusse
Back they brought him back, the right hander. He was sneaky. He was sneaky. I can't remember.
Joe Soucheray
The crafty right hander. I remember you called him that.
Patrick Reusse
The crafty right hander. Good guy. But Rosak, I looked up, I said look up just for his fastball and they immediately told me, tops out at 88. Oh, but what the heck. He's been at it since 18, I think, I think he was a four year. He's a red. I think he had a red shirt of Mankato. I think he was there five years and then he, you know, won a lot of games for him and. But he's been at it ever since and he hasn't, never hasn't pitched in the majors yet. But I'm rooting for him to get a shot down in Houston this weekend.
Joe Soucheray
You know, it is amazing because you look and they're what, five games under.500 and you're thinking how. Yeah, how are they only five games under five?
Patrick Reusse
The Dodgers, they had a chance to beat them a couple of times.
Joe Soucheray
They only. Yeah, they lost two of those games by one run.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah, they, they. Oh, by the way, Johan's back. I saw in Philly, he saved it last night. So I was, I was thinking that was long term, but he's, he saved it last night. But you know, they're not. When you look at the lineup, you think they're really terrible, but they're leading the American League in run scored, which is unbelievable.
Joe Soucheray
So you raised something that I was going to ask you based upon a listener with. Based. And you're going to have to walk me through this because I don't even know the answer to any of this stuff. But based upon the way baseball's heading with potentially having a lockout next year, are they going to, are they going to blow it up again at the, the deadline? I think, are they going to basically get rid of whatever they can and just kind of.
Patrick Reusse
Well, I would think Joe Ryan probably gets traded, don't you?
Joe Soucheray
Oh, for sure.
Patrick Reusse
Try to get something for him.
Joe Soucheray
But Bell will probably get traded for whatever Bell probably Larnick. Is he going to get traded?
Patrick Reusse
Larnick they'd like to trade because I think they think this road and better athlete, you know. Sure. And he's.
Joe Soucheray
I like Larnick though.
Patrick Reusse
He can get a hit doom as a hitter too. I like him. But Matt Waller's got to be getting a little frustrated. He's hitting like 800 over in St. Paul.
Joe Soucheray
Is he really okay?
Patrick Reusse
Home runs. But I they. They. One of their problems is they. They got these left handed. They got three left handed hitting outfielders in St. Paul. You know Jenkins,
Joe Soucheray
what's his injury situation?
Patrick Reusse
I think he's taken. I think he's back in the lineup maybe Tuesday.
Joe Soucheray
Okay.
Patrick Reusse
I think he played in the road a couple of games and so he's back. But you got him and then you had Roden and Emmanuel Rodriguez.
Joe Soucheray
Rodriguez, yep.
Patrick Reusse
Who would be playing really good right now if he hadn't slid into first base and ruined his thumb and now underwent surgery. Right. So I was watching the Red Sox Yankees last night.
Joe Soucheray
Yes sir.
Patrick Reusse
And the right fielder I think won the Golden Glove last year, abreu. But it's 20 and Sonny Gray takes a no, no into the eighth and he's throwing 91 pitches. And you can see the Red Sox basically hoping he gives up a hit. You know. So with one out he gives up a hit and they replace him. And then in the ninth they basically hand. They bring in Chapman. He's not good. He walks a couple. And then the right fielder, Abreu, Will Abreu was a Gold Glover last year I think are great. Makes a throw to nowhere as there's. And they scored two runs on this. It's like a three base air. So they go to extra innings. And then I turned it off because I was disgusted. And the Red Sox rallied. They just swept the Yankees in four games.
Announcer 2
Wow.
Patrick Reusse
Because they don't have judge and Stanton hasn't played for months.
Joe Soucheray
Tampa Bay is going to run away with that division, aren't they?
Patrick Reusse
They probably will. You know and I think the American League still has what four teams over 505 something like that. You like the young mighty whities though.
Joe Soucheray
I do. I like the Whities and I think I mean the west is pretty much terrible in the American League.
Patrick Reusse
Yes. Seattle's leading one game's under 500. One game under 500. They haven't hit worth a dam.
Joe Soucheray
I just don't. I don't think it matters because like you mentioned, the Dodgers are just gonna find a way to win it anyway. Don't you think?
Patrick Reusse
Well, yeah. I mean, last year, they did go to seven last year and Toronto had. Toronto was ahead of them in this game. Seven, you know, so. But you know who's playing good? Philadelphia. They got it. They got it. They got it together pretty dang good.
Joe Soucheray
I love the fact that Philly fired Thompson and Mattingly is the interim manager and his boss is his kid.
Patrick Reusse
Well, his kid is number two in the base.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, I'm sorry, you're right. Dumbrowski is number one, but number two
Patrick Reusse
in the baseball organization. But he has the title general manager.
Pete Arnold
Yeah.
Patrick Reusse
His kid. Yeah, that's. That is fantastic. I love that. But Matty Lee is, you know, they've been playing great since they got him and I. The old different voice thing, I don't buy any of that. I think you just get hot and you know, Schwarber's up to 30 home runs now and God, he.
Joe Soucheray
What's funny too is when they gave him that five year deal or if you're thinking for that guy, but that swing.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
It's either go. He's either going to strike out or that thing's going six miles in the air.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah, he's. He had some. And they stayed hit.
Joe Soucheray
What.
Patrick Reusse
Why did the Cubs give up on him?
Joe Soucheray
They.
Patrick Reusse
I remember he was a little chubby back then.
Joe Soucheray
Didn't they trade him for something? Or maybe, maybe they just let him go as a free agent. I don't remember because he was with Boston for a year and then Boston let him go and then I think that's when he signed marginal deal with Philly. And then Philly then obviously that was a great contract for them. But then they gave him the extension.
Patrick Reusse
Him and Harper are both going to probably go over 400 home runs for their careers this year.
Joe Soucheray
So I was going to ask you too about the. With the work stoppage, I was seeing some things that have kind of come out the contract lengths and things like that. What is the main sticking point outside of obviously the imbalance of spending and whatnot?
Patrick Reusse
They don't want to spend as much money. That's what it is. They want to somehow restrict the amount of money that players are being paid. But they made a really good move by raising the floor. So the guys who were trying to tank. I was talking to Perky about this and 80% of the guys that are 80, 85% of the people who beat the majors don't get to a four, don't get through a fourth season. You know, so most of them play under three years. And he was saying, you know, guys retire with now maybe a million and a half in the bank if they're three years and they never got it, you know, and spending money as they go along. And he said if they find out how amazingly quick that money goes away broke, you know, So I guess the. What he has. What they have to do is make the lower echelon of players who can vote, they. I don't know how much time you need to actually vote, but they have to get those guys on the underbelly to tell the guy, tell Scott, Boris and the fellas, we don't. We want to make money so we're okay when we get out of baseball. Instead of just the well, and they've 12, 15 guys are making hundreds of
Joe Soucheray
millions and they also have to do away with this deferred money crap.
Patrick Reusse
Well, they can defer it, but they should all count. It should count.
Chrissy
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
It should still count against your salary. Yeah. I mean, Ohtani's making $2 million.
Patrick Reusse
Here's the one that I didn't realize. If Ohtani is pitching any any and he stays any, then they. Then he can become the dh. But

For the ones who get it done, they allow him. Somebody told me this. I think it was Wick talking to Mark Wicker the other Day he left as a pitcher in the fifth. The other, the guy who was the DH batted in the sixth. And then they let Ohtani come back as the DH in the seventh, even though he was the starting pitcher. Yeah. And he left and he didn't immediately become the dh. And they still let him be the DH later in the game as though he hadn't played well.
Joe Soucheray
You can't.
Patrick Reusse
No, that's what they did.
Joe Soucheray
No, you can't do that.
Patrick Reusse
Their own rules for him because.
Joe Soucheray
Because they, they're sure, they're trying to. Mark.
Patrick Reusse
Want to see him hit, I guess. I don't know. We have no idea how much money the Dodgers and MLB are making out of Japan because of him. But. Yeah, it's phenomenal.
Joe Soucheray
Isn't Wicker, this guy?
Patrick Reusse
Hey, Sergio. You know, Venus kicked Martina's ass.
Joe Soucheray
Wicker.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. It was. There was. There were days when, when our guy. When our guy Wick. Who was he be playing there? Who was. He was playing some character there, wasn't it?
Joe Soucheray
The guy from New York.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah, the New York fan. The New York fan. The New York fan. The New York fan said a few things that were untoward. Something about, oh, he was doing Moses Malone. He was. He was. He imitated Moses Malone and. Yeah, you know, it was a good thing that was in the 80s and not. Not more modern times.
Joe Soucheray
By the way, speaking of golf, God bless the lpga. God bless them all. But I love how they're showing these beautiful shots of Hazeltine yesterday.
Patrick Reusse
Right.
Joe Soucheray
And then the.
Lowe's Announcer
What was it?
Joe Soucheray
Was that on Peacock? What was it on Peacock? Yeah. Okay, so they're showing these beautiful shots of Hazeltine and as they come back from programming, they're showing all of these scenes of downtown Minneapolis and us. The fricking course is 40 miles that way. It's not even remotely close to Minneapolis yesterday.
Patrick Reusse
What'd they have a three hour rain delay in the morning until the afternoon. I was shocked watching the end of it that there were still maybe a thousand people around the green or 1500. So I was out there Friday. I was surprised how full the parking lot was there.
Pete Arnold
Was it really?
Patrick Reusse
Because, you know, I'm not the. I. For 30 years I covered golf tournament and tromped around, you know, But I'm not a trapper these days. No, I can't tromp too well. So I, you know, especially that golf course, because it goes. Yep. You know, and right off the bat you're a long way. And then it's. For the most part, the holes aren't crowded together and it's a lot of walking.
Joe Soucheray
Is it set up similar to the way they set it up for the Ryder Cup a couple years ago?
Patrick Reusse
Well, it's shorter. It's right. 6,800 yards. The Ryder Cup. But they played the Ryder cup easy. Okay. Davis had him play it easy because he wanted to make it a birdie fest because he thought he had more birdie makers than the Euros did. And it worked out. But I don't know when it comes back in 2029 if we're going to make it that easy again, but.
Joe Soucheray
And we obviously didn't have as many people passed out by trees.
Patrick Reusse
Oh, God, no, no, I said the difference was. The difference was in the lpga, you had people standing next to the ropes and watching the play and politely applause instead of being laying on their back 20 yards, 20 yards away from the tee box, screaming insults at various Europeans. You know, unbelievable. Comes back in 29. That's. You know, we're only like the third or fourth course to have a trace the match, really. They made so much money at Hazeltine that the PGA that they came back. Now, this is a PGA of America event, too. You know, KPMG is. There's kmpg. I get my initials mixed up, but did you see what the purse was?
Joe Soucheray
No.
Patrick Reusse
13 million.
Joe Soucheray
Are you kidding me?
Patrick Reusse
Most ever for women's golf. They split 13 million. Yeah. They're like the second place finish.
Joe Soucheray
What is that in response to, do you think? Or why did it.
Patrick Reusse
Just a sponsor that's saying we're going in and treat the sport with respect and.
Joe Soucheray
Well, again, not being a golf follower at all. Just between you and Joe, I follow it, but is this in any way a response to what happened with the PGA and LIV or anything like that, to try to keep all the ladies here?
Patrick Reusse
PG of America took this over in 2015. It was a name that. It was an event that carried the title, but until 2015, and they found their sponsor. It's a. A international financial, you know, outfit from London.
Joe Soucheray
Okay.
Patrick Reusse
And. And they. They. They started when they held it. The first time was three and a half million. So 11 years later, it's no kid. Fifteen million. Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
Wow.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah. And now it wasn't very exciting. Golf on Sunday. The winner didn't make any. The leader didn't make any mistakes. And Corda, who's a superstar, never really got it going. Didn't make. Didn't make her putts. And, you know, it was. It was not an exciting last nine holes because nobody really came after the Leader. And even though they were only two shots behind, plus you get a three hour rain delay and kind of takes the steam out. But I was. I did as I wrote in my lead for my column, the highway, the Minnesota Highway Department came through again. I like to take Highway 7 and then cut across 41. Have you seen that? Apparently she's closed for about a mile and a half down there. And it's been months, I guess. Yes, yes. But they just. I just trust my fellow man that if there's a big event at Hazeltine, they'll have the roads open. But actually it's the opposite. If they get a chance to shut it down and make us miserable, they'll do it.
Joe Soucheray
I was reminded of that yesterday when. So was it 2018? Is that when the Ryder cup was here? Yes, 2018. And I was living in Carver at the time, and I live in Jordan, but I was living in Carver at the time. And my next door neighbor rented his house out to a couple of Texas business big shots. And they couldn't have been cooler. And not only did they. They filled his fridge full of beer. They had a professional cleaning lady, they paid for it, come clean his house when they left. And I even said. I texted Dave, I said, hey, do you want me to cut your grass? You're gone all week. He's like, yeah, go ahead. Well, I was cutting the grass, and the guy goes, oh, thanks for showing up. And he hands me a hundo. And I said, I'm the neighbor. I live next door. He's like, ah, take it anyway. Go buy some ice cream for your kids or whatever. And I thought, when that. When it comes back at 29, I'm just gonna find a place in Carver to buy just to rent the damn thing out.
Patrick Reusse
Well, they have these condo. These. These condos on the course now. Like up on a plateau. Yeah, above the course. They got six or eight of those. I wonder what the. I wonder what the tariff's gonna be on one of those for the.
Joe Soucheray
I believe we have a relative of a gentleman normally on this show that worked and lives in that building. I believe the mayor's granddaughter.
Patrick Reusse
No, no, no. These.
Joe Soucheray
Are these the ones that are on the course?
Patrick Reusse
Yeah, but I don't think those are. I think those are Reynolds.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, I see what you're saying.
Patrick Reusse
Okay.
Joe Soucheray
Okay, gotcha.
Patrick Reusse
You know, there are. There's apartment buildings right there, too.
Joe Soucheray
Okay, maybe that's the one I'm thinking of. Okay, maybe that's what I'm thinking of.
Patrick Reusse
I. I was gonna. They're Kind of one level condos that look really nice. But sure, they might have been there for the last time, but I don't think so.
Joe Soucheray
I don't remember those either.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah, yeah, it's. It's a circus, man.
Joe Soucheray
I gotta tell you, I now have a new favorite player in all of sports.
Patrick Reusse
Okay.
Joe Soucheray
Football, basketball, baseball, hockey. My favorite athlete of all time, okay, is Sophie Cunningham.
Patrick Reusse
Really?
Joe Soucheray
The. The WNBA player. She's basically Caitlin Clark's Marty McSorley.
Patrick Reusse
Oh, really?
Pete Arnold
Did you.
Joe Soucheray
You saw the point meme, right? Where she's. She's basically Caitlin gets her face shoved in the ground and Sophie Cunningham comes up and then she does the point, like. Nope, I saw it. Yeah, I saw you. Yeah, you're the one that did it right there. It was fantastic.
Patrick Reusse
All right.
Joe Soucheray
And I told Joy, I said, well, I have a new favorite professional athlete. What are they going to do with this, by the way, in the wnba, they can't keep letting her get her ass kicked every game.
Patrick Reusse
Well, she does in every game, but there are three or four or five of them out there that are very resentful. But now that everybody is making way more money.
Joe Soucheray
What are you doing?
Patrick Reusse
Yes, she's.
Joe Soucheray
She's your Wayne Gretzky.
Patrick Reusse
She's one reason that you got that much money. Now. Our kid's a better player than her.
Joe Soucheray
Olivia Miles.
Patrick Reusse
She's a better player. 100%, she's a better player. But Caitlin's still brought the eyes to the game.
Joe Soucheray
Right? We got to come up with a nickname for Olivia Miles, by the way. Boy, she is fantastic too.
Patrick Reusse
She's good. God. I was at. At the Pub 42 yesterday afternoon to make a. They got the best BLT in the history of man.
Joe Soucheray
Where is it? Pub 42?
Patrick Reusse
It's on. Strangely. It's on 42nd Avenue there. Sorry, 2nd Street.
Joe Soucheray
Okay.
Patrick Reusse
Not far from us in New Hope. They do a gangbusters business. Got a great huge menu, but they have what they call the millionaires blt.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, you've mentioned that one. Okay.
Patrick Reusse
Bucks. The bacon on it is.
Joe Soucheray
It's two by four thick, crisp.
Patrick Reusse
No, it's not the. Oh, it's crisp, but there's probably 15 slices in there someplace. Got a little peppery taste to it. Oh, boy, it's fantastic. Yesterday, the wife wanted something else, so I. So I got one. And it's a. It's a two stopper. You know, you eat. Eat it when you get home, and then to sleep comfortably, you eat it about a half hour before you. But anyway, I'm watching that and they got the links on the women's golf, on some soccer game on Canada. They got all this stuff. Two thirds of the crowd's watching a links game.
Joe Soucheray
Really?
Patrick Reusse
And Olivia makes a basket at the end that pretty much puts it away. But people. People have discovered her. It's a fantastic.
Joe Soucheray
And aren't we doing this because, again, I'm not the world's biggest links fan, but are we doing this without fee?
Patrick Reusse
Fee is not back. Fee is not. Wow.
Joe Soucheray
So they're the best team in the league.
Patrick Reusse
Like, yeah, they already got the best record with just miles. But wow. Kayla McBride's playing great.
Joe Soucheray
But is Cheryl still angry or is Cheryl okay?
Patrick Reusse
She went to hall of Fame this weekend, so she can't be too angry. You know, she went actually to hall of Fames, the basketball. Basketball hall of fame and the MF&STANS hall of Fame. MF. In this fans hall of Fame,
Joe Soucheray
the
Patrick Reusse
lead clip is her leaving the court in Phoenix. Unbelievable.
Joe Soucheray
But she's great.
Patrick Reusse
She lucked out. She's. I've only been there once this year, but Olivia had, like. She didn't carry him the night I was there. But you.
Announcer 1
You asked.
Patrick Reusse
I asked her a couple of questions about it. She said they knew about her when she's coming out of high school.
Joe Soucheray
Really?
Patrick Reusse
Yeah. Wow. She just saw things and went. She had to be tiny then. But, God, she's good. Yeah. Yeah, It's. It's incredible. What do you know? Women's athletics. I think I'm gonna write something about this this week. Is the appreciation for it, not out of guilt or anything, out of wanting to watch it is way better than it was even five, six years ago.
Joe Soucheray
I was just about to say the same thing. The way that that league has progressed in the last 10 years is unbelievable.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah. I mean, that team that won four titles for us had some great players and they could hold their own against you, but the game is much faster and the three point shooting is much better.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, it's so much better.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah. It's not even close. What do you make of the Wolves?
Patrick Reusse
I. I love it, you know, because you had to do something. You know, Nas. I like Nas as a human being, but my God, you'd think we, you
Joe Soucheray
know, we traded Kirby Puckett in his prime.
Patrick Reusse
Garnett Jr. Trade here.
Joe Soucheray
The best promo was. I forget. I wish I could remember who put it out there, but you're familiar with the video game Grand Theft Auto?
Patrick Reusse
Yes.
Joe Soucheray
And someone put a clip of the trailer for the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto and said lonzo Ball coming to town because apparently he's got about.
Patrick Reusse
Nationally, we're getting ripped the hell out of him.
Joe Soucheray
No, meaning he's got about 15 speeding tickets in Charlotte when he was playing for the Hornets and said he must
Patrick Reusse
get a tattoo every time he gets a speeding ticket.
Joe Soucheray
Someone said someone needs to hire Jordan Addison to drive this guy around town.
Patrick Reusse
Lavar's first quote.
Joe Soucheray
No.
Patrick Reusse
The old man said, now they got to bring our other two sons in. Oh, God. One guy's not in the league. I don't.
Joe Soucheray
Well, Lonzo is. Wasn't he playing with the Bull? Who is he playing with? The Bulls?
Patrick Reusse
Alonzo is. Was with the police someplace.
Joe Soucheray
Okay. The other kid is. Is in the league.
Patrick Reusse
I don't. Well, somebody said he's on a practice squad or something.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, okay. I'm gonna look up Lonzo Balls.
Patrick Reusse
Ever been a guy? I mean, Earl Woods, Tiger's father, sold us on him when he was like 12. And it turns out to be correct. But beyond that, LaVar Ball was the greatest salesman of young athletes. We. We couldn't wait for these kids to get out of high school. We didn't know anything about them.
Joe Soucheray
Lonzo was last with Cleveland last year. He didn't play a ton.
Patrick Reusse
Kind of floating around.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah. He only got into 35 games.
Patrick Reusse
I think he's a free agent.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah.
Lowe's Announcer
And he.
Joe Soucheray
I didn't realize this. He missed two straight seasons due to injury.
Patrick Reusse
Well, this guy missed. That's the one. Your big concern with him. While Ant was playing all but 19 games in their first five years in a league, this guy missed 169 games.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah. 28 years old, and he only averaged four and a half points a game for the Cleveland Cavaliers last year.
Patrick Reusse
Is Lamelo, the kid brother. Is he the youngest?
Joe Soucheray
Lonzo, I think is the oldest. Oldest one, I think.
Patrick Reusse
All right, well, we might get Lonzo in here if he's free, you know.
Joe Soucheray
Yeah, why not?
Patrick Reusse
Yeah, but I'm. I'm for it. I mean, after you watch what the spurs were able to do to Ant, you know, double team him.
Joe Soucheray
And you got to have another.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah, you gotta have somebody else with the ball and then get it to Ant when he's one on one.
Joe Soucheray
And you can't have Mike Conley rolling back again as a point guard.
Patrick Reusse
No, I see that. There's people thinking they're going to bring him back, don't. You know, just as a mentor. What a bunch of crap. Mentor. Oh, yeah. You really play good, you know, don't look down on you.
Joe Soucheray
Your best light in the History of mentorship, BS quotes that you've had was when you said, you know what's leadership? A base is loaded.
Patrick Reusse
Double that is leadership. That is. Drives me crazy. Drives me crazy.
Joe Soucheray
God, that made me laugh so hard. Because you're right. Like that's. Yeah, he's a leader.
Patrick Reusse
Look at that group. And you know that, that does you. You hear the same crap all the time. You know, what's the death of watching sports?
Joe Soucheray
What's this?
Patrick Reusse
The 14 second interview in the dugout. Just. Just so you can prove that you can do it. And then the other day, they were interviewing the outfielder. I can't remember who it was. Boring guy. In the first inning. They were doing the thing in the first inning.
Joe Soucheray
Why?
Patrick Reusse
Why?
Joe Soucheray
We don't need this. No, this is unnecessary.
Patrick Reusse
Prove that you have access, but it doesn't do you any good. I feel sorry I did. Like, poor Audra. I don't know if she had to do it this time, but the last time Pre Lip pitched, she got him. You could go up and. You know, as my old man used to say, is something about, you know, killing his dude. Killing his two.
Joe Soucheray
Queen Carvania stood haloed by the morning sun. An army hung on her every word.
Mark Ellis
My champions, I have sold my chariot on Carvana. Twas a lovely suv, an inexplicably queenly offer. They're even coming to the castle to collect it. Tonight we feast. An offer you can feast on.
Patrick Reusse
Sell your car today on Carvana.

Good for him. They should just give Him a good swift kick in the ass. This guy might be the worst interview of all time.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, I missed it.
Patrick Reusse
Okay. She could, you know. Well, I was around him when he was talking once and it's unbelievable. I think it's the, the new young generation though that they're very anti social. Yeah. I just want to communicate with their Instagram followers and stuff like that because it was. God, he's terrible. You know who else was awful? Max Meyer when we, when he was up here. And then Molly told me after we all left, he was great. Even Molly had this great conversation talking.
Joe Soucheray
Go for baseball or whatever.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah. And talking to by the way, nine and we don't worry about wins, but he's nine and oh, with a two, six ERA or something. Yeah, he's having, you know, he's old time pitcher too. I mean he's, he's gone up, he's gone up high more, but he's, you know, he was a great sinker.
Joe Soucheray
I got to send it to you because we were just listening to major league clips from the 1989 thriller that you and I both love. Someone put a clip to listen to the roar of the crowd as the Marlins take the field. It was just. Is it cavernous? Is that the right word? You could, you could hear the guy say hot dogs.
Patrick Reusse
It's unbelievable. Why that's a terrible baseball town.
Joe Soucheray
What you're thinking. Come on Miami, let's go.
Patrick Reusse
They went crazy. I was there for the both World Series. They went nuts for the World Series. But so what? You know, it is incredible.
Joe Soucheray
Listen to the roar of the crowd as the Marlins take the field. There's like six people in the stands, you know.
Patrick Reusse
And then two years ago they had the. When Ozzy managed and they won the. Their His Venzo. Well and team.
Joe Soucheray
Oh yeah, yeah.
Patrick Reusse
Won the Caribbean World Series and they had the semis in the finals in Miami. That place was great.
Joe Soucheray
World Baseball Classic. They'd have those games down there and the place is packed. Wasn't that where the championship game was?
Patrick Reusse
Speaking of Venezuela. Wow, man. Oh, I have that earthquake. Yeah. I mean every. If you're a, if you're a Venezuelan baseball player, you gotta, you gotta be. You gotta have a heavy mind right now wondering what's going on.
Joe Soucheray
No doubt.
Patrick Reusse
Well, you know, now that the trumpeter opens that owns the country down there and he's taking all the oil money. Has he sent anybody down there to help out with the earthquakes here or not?
Joe Soucheray
I don't know. I, I bet when the mayor is not in studio, I I tend to unplug from the realities of the world.
Patrick Reusse
The Star Tribune again today. And yes, maybe it was Sunday. And the email in the mail part of the editorial page.
Joe Soucheray
Yep.
Patrick Reusse
We were sparring on the new flag. Again. I, I'm all for the mayor. He's found a good stick. Right. With the new flag. But who gives a flying bleep what it is? I mean, we got bigger problems. Repeated your. It is the stupidest flag I've ever seen. It's just, you know, it's just what, two colors basically.
Joe Soucheray
I did repeat your line though, the other day. Russia.
Patrick Reusse
That's a hell of a bet you got there, Rush. Yeah. By the way, a great glorious moment for fox. I saw, I saw this clip on the. They were live from the 4th of June from the birthday party that Trump was gonna have. The big boom. 50 like, yep, four football fields of stuff. And they're doing the morning show and people are, you know, from like noon people are, you know, telling us how exciting it was out there and somebody was working in the thing. Tell us there's like 35 people walking around. Oh my God. They showed some of the exhibits like for the states. They had two chairs and a tv, you know, and it was, I mean it was, it's unbelievable. But they were, they were telling us
Joe Soucheray
how great it was before we, before we run. I got. Because I'm so glad that you retweeted this because I retweeted it as well. I think this was yesterday. How about a shout out to your guy, Corey Koski, another one, 53 years old that he's still hitting rockets for the Loretta Larks.
Patrick Reusse
Was that home run this weekend?
Joe Soucheray
I'm positive it was.
Patrick Reusse
I was wondering if it was the one he hit like two o' clock in the morning.
Joe Soucheray
I will say this and I game at Dundas. He has no idea who I am. And when we hosted the state amateur tournament in 2022, Loretto played Waterville in our opening game because obviously your favorable Lakers didn't make it. We got ousted by the Webster Sox. But he hit a ball to a part of the park at Bellfield that home runs just don't get hit. And he narrowly missed it by about a foot and a half. And I said, time to do a few more push ups there, old guy.
Patrick Reusse
But I'm just saying like that you guys hosted that. They had that huge, tremendously long late night game in Dundas, right? Yes, like the quarterfinals last weekend. And it went, it went a long. Well, yeah, it rained. Two hours of rain. And then they played till 2 in the morning. I think he won it with a home run.
Joe Soucheray
But I saw that clip and I went, oh, that's fantastic.
Patrick Reusse
Rumor Dundas is short of players. Have you heard that?
Joe Soucheray
I don't. Yeah, we haven't played. Have we played? We haven't played them yet this year. So I haven't had a chance to talk to my guy Ludwig and see how the crew in Dundas is going.
Patrick Reusse
Meadsville got everybody back.
Joe Soucheray
Here's what I'm worried about with town baseball, Patrick. I think baseball in general, as you and I have discussed on and off the air, is in a little bit of trouble because not enough kids are playing. But B, you're not getting the 20 to 25 year old kid that wants to spend all summer with a Tom baseball team anymore.
Patrick Reusse
No. And here's the other thing. In Minnesota, where is the heartbeat of town team baseball? Stearns county up there, they're closing. All the closing like two thirds of the Catholic parishes. And you know, they used to say if you wanted a town team up there, you needed a two bars, a Catholic church and a baseball field, you know. And you know, the. This is sad. My Croatian friends who have been coming here ever since I met him at the crote hall when. 2018, when Croatia played for the World cup title. And they always. The mom is from Greenwald and they had 13 kids in the family or something. So average, you know. And the big event, barley days, the last days in August last year, the last year because the parishes are closing. You know, the parish or the St. Cloud, Stearns county closed like 2/3 of the parishes up there.
Joe Soucheray
You're just reminding me of something. A couple of weeks ago. What was the great. Was it Driscoll that called you about the bar in Kilkenny?
Patrick Reusse
Yes.
Joe Soucheray
Okay. What was the name of the bar? Do you remember?
Patrick Reusse
It was Murphy's then, but I think it's changed.
Joe Soucheray
That's exactly why I'm bringing this up. So Kilkenny, Minnesota, they've got one four way stop. They got the gas station and they got the bar that used to be called Murphy's. It's now called the Toy Box Saloon.
Patrick Reusse
That's what I heard.
Joe Soucheray
It's fantastic.
Patrick Reusse
What's the toy box? To give your kids toys.
Joe Soucheray
No, no, no. Well, they have. They have. I don't remember why it's called that, but the guy saw me, I was wearing my Garage Logic hat and he said, are you the Reavers kid from Faribault? And I said, yeah, my folks, because my folks live just east of there. They're in that area. And I said, yeah. He goes, well, you tell that damn Royce we're open even on St. Patrick's Day or whatever. So, anyway, but you've got to make it down there. The food is spectacular. The food is really, really good.
Patrick Reusse
Nice roast beef sandwich.
Joe Soucheray
No, you can get a good greasy cheeseburger. You can get tac, you can get the whole works, but you got to make it down there. Because when I stopped in, my brother and I stopped in to grab dinner, and he saw me and he made his way over and he pointed me out. That was really cool. So you got to make it down here.
Patrick Reusse
I don't think. Has Kil Kenny ever had a ball club? I don't think so.
Joe Soucheray
Not to my knowledge.
Patrick Reusse
Not years.
Joe Soucheray
Not to my knowledge.
Patrick Reusse
Well, that's one thing that will be missed again this year when I go to the state amateur tournament. No Driscoll.
Joe Soucheray
No.
Patrick Reusse
No Driscoll to contemplate. Make. Make.
Joe Soucheray
He told you, don't you dare leave the Faribault Green Island.
Patrick Reusse
He did. That's right.
Joe Soucheray
It's only nine nothing, Pat. It's still early.
Patrick Reusse
We were leaving. Greatest comeback ever.
Joe Soucheray
And that kid that was sitting in the sandbox is now going to be 15 in November.
Patrick Reusse
Wow.
Joe Soucheray
My God, it flies by. Holy cow.
Patrick Reusse
It does. It does.
Joe Soucheray
Yes.
Patrick Reusse
Well, anyway, the mayor will be back next week. Monday. Yes. Fourth of July, everybody. Have a good weekend. You know, our soccer team plays sometime this week, so be sure to check it out. Canada one, huh?
Joe Soucheray
I think so.
Patrick Reusse
Exciting one.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, Thriller. It was a thriller.
Patrick Reusse
It was late.
Joe Soucheray
Still. One of the best lines you ever uttered down the hall. The last World cup. He said, everyone's excited because we scored a goal against the Krauts. God, I love.
Patrick Reusse
I think people consider that untoward.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, God, it made me laugh. I heard it from the. Oh, God, it was so.
Patrick Reusse
You know what Norm MacDonald said?
Joe Soucheray
That's right. No, no, I don't need you to
Patrick Reusse
put that on there, Norm. Talking about Norm MacDonald on Germany fighting.
Joe Soucheray
Yes.
Patrick Reusse
Find it. Find that.
Joe Soucheray
I can't play that on the air.
Patrick Reusse
Oh, yes, you can. No, no.
Joe Soucheray
But we get fired.
Patrick Reusse
No, no, no.
Joe Soucheray
I might think it is something, Donald.
Patrick Reusse
Germany, World War Normal. I saw it again the other day.
Joe Soucheray
All right, hang on, hang on, hang on. Let me load this, because now YouTube's going to play an ad, so I'm going to have to delay here for a minute or so while we. While we get that going. Wasn't he on Letterman? Was he on Letterman? If it's on Letterman. Oh, yeah. Oh, you know what? Hang tight. I got to play it from a different computer because my audio, and that one is screwed up. I played the. I did play the. The dirty Johnny joke the other day for somebody. They had never heard it before. All right, here we go.
Announcer 1
Black. Watch the tv. I watch the news. Make you afraid. The news. You know, put all these stories on Iraq, Iran, North Korea, you know, try to scare you, you know, but does it ever really scare you? Like, you ever wake up in the middle of the night, ah, North Korea, that little tiny country across the ocean. I wonder if they'll get me. Plus, didn't settle that, like 20 years ago. Why did I have to watch that stupid show? There is one country that worries me, though. Not Iraq, not Iran, not North Korea. The only country that really worries me is the country of Germany. I don't know if you guys are history buffs or not, but. In the early part of the previous century, Germany decided to go to war. And who did they go to war with? The world that had never been tried before. And so you figure that would take about five seconds for the world to win. But no, it was actually close. Then about then, about 30 years pass and Germany decides again to go to war. And again it chooses as its enemy the world. And this time they have that guy Schrankly Clankily. That guy, I'm not even gonna dignify him by saying his name, but I think you know what I'm doing. But you'd think at that point the world will go, listen, Germany, here's the deal. You don't got to be a country no more on account of you keep attacking the world. What do you think you're Mars or something?
Patrick Reusse
Oh, my God. You know, Charles Woodson's here. Sometimes. Sometimes I get in that, I go down that rabbit. Oh, God, I watch it. I want to hear a norm thing on YouTube. And then I ended up doing. I'm there for a half hour fighting various norm things. Norm. Did you ever see Norm riding in the car with Seinfeld?
Joe Soucheray
Oh, my God, it's. It's pretty good.
Patrick Reusse
I mean, that is a great bet, Norm.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, my God.
Patrick Reusse
I mean, the whole thing that Seinfeld did there is pretty, pretty damn good.
Joe Soucheray
Well, and it was the. Well, I said, charles Woodson's here. They won the Heisman Trophy. They can't take that away from you unless you kill your wife. In a way there.
Patrick Reusse
Even better was the, the, the joke about the BAS. 8 year old girl was on his end. She who's the basketball player. She said he's even. She's even too young for.
Joe Soucheray
Oh, it was Anthony Davis.
Patrick Reusse
No, not.
Joe Soucheray
Not Anthony Davis.
Patrick Reusse
Anthony Bryant. No.
Joe Soucheray
God. What was that guy's name? He was the Knicks player.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah.
Joe Soucheray
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Patrick Reusse
Yeah, the 14 year old.
Joe Soucheray
Yes, Anthony. Nick's player. Nor McDonald. Hang on, hang on. God, that was funny. God, he was so good.
Patrick Reusse
The crowd just went nuts when he said that thing.
Joe Soucheray
Anthony Mason.
Patrick Reusse
Anthony Mason.
Joe Soucheray
Anthony Mason.
Patrick Reusse
He's even too young for Anthony. That's one of his. I was listening to that, like his second joke. He said there for a minute. Yeah. Never invited. Never invited back.
Joe Soucheray
Shockingly, never invited back.
Patrick Reusse
No. All right, next week, the mayor.
Joe Soucheray
We'll see ya.
Patrick Reusse

Date: June 29, 2026
Host: Joe Soucheray ("The Mayor")
Co-hosts/Regulars: Patrick Reusse, Pete Arnold
Episode Overview:
This episode of Garage Logic finds Patrick Reusse and Joe Soucheray holding down the fort as the Fourth of July approaches. Their wide-ranging, witty conversation touches on the quirks of the upcoming holiday week, Minnesota Twins baseball, WNBA developments, golf tournaments, Minnesota town ball, and, for the showstopper finale, a classic Norm MacDonald riff on Germany and world history. Interspersed throughout the episode are trademark gripes, local sports nostalgia, sly humor, and memorable anecdotes.
The episode’s primary thread is a relaxed, common-sense assessment of current Minnesota sports (with a baseball focus), the cultural state of the summer, and sharp, comedic takes on pop culture—capped off by a beloved Norm MacDonald bit about Germany that perfectly embodies the show’s blend of humor, perspective, and nostalgia.
Patrick, on sports broadcasting: “The death of watching sports? The 14-second interview in the dugout.” ([35:56])
Joe, on revisiting old Garage Logic stories:
“That kid that was sitting in the sandbox is now going to be 15 in November. My God, it flies by. Holy cow.” ([47:19])
This episode blends classic Midwestern dry humor, curmudgeonly wisdom, quick-witted cultural references, and affectionate nostalgia. The rapport between Joe and Patrick is as strong as ever, punctuated by knowing laughs, playful ribbing, and a folksy, conversational style that’s both authoritative and warmly inviting.
Garage Logic’s June 29, 2026 episode is a quintessential slice of “Gumption County” common sense: passionate sports talk, local lore, irreverence toward both sports business and Minnesota life, and a finale that pays tribute to the absurdity of world events—with a little help from Norm MacDonald. For any fan of the podcast or a newcomer wanting a taste of its unique flavor, this episode offers laughs, insight, and the timeless assurance that, in Garage Logic, common sense always prevails.
