All right, people, I'm money coach Damon Carr. We're talking retirement wisdom. And we've got the two biggest heavyweights in finance, Warren Buffett and Dave Ramsey. Dropping some truth bombs. Forget what you think retirement is. These guys are telling you what it really takes. Time is money. So let's go. Buffett, the oracle himself, says your golden years ain't just about stocks. It's about life quality. First, stop being owned by your stuff. He said a vast collection of possessions ends up possessing its owner. Drop the materialism and focus on the real assets, your health and your long standing friends. That's the real dividend. Next, listen to this. Excitement and expenses are your enemies. Don't chase the hottest stock tip in retirement. That emotion costs you every single time. Keep your portfolio boring, stable and low cost with those cheap index funds. And for the love of money, think long term. Buffett's favorite holding period is forever. Your retirement could last 20, even 30 years. You need your money to grow, not sit still. Invest for the long haul and let compounding do its job. Finally, measure success not by your bank account, but by who loves you. Use your retirement to master the power of know. Protect your peace and retire to a purpose. Something you do even if you didn't need the cash. That is intentional living. Now, the hard truth from Dave Ramsey. He says two huge mistakes will derail your future no matter how much you saved. Mistake number one, trying to time the market. You're jumping in and out. Every time the ticker tape wobbles, you know what happens? You panic, sell low and you miss the best recovery days. Ramsey is clear. The steady investor wins every time. Stay the course. Mistake number two, and this one drives me crazy, is carrying debt into retirement. That credit card balance, that $750 car payment. That debt is the single largest blocker to your secur retirement. It eats up your fixed income and forces you to work for the banks instead of enjoying your life. Ramsey's advice? You must be debt free when you cross that finish line. So take control, prioritize purpose in people like Buffett and eliminate debt and market timing like Ramsey. It's your money. It's your future. Make it count.
