Angie
No, I'm good, thank you. I just don't know if I can do this, honestly.
Ari
Hi, Angie girl. Hey, R. What's up?
Angie
Not much.
Ari
My girl. Hey, guys. I'm Ari.
Angie
And I'm Ange.
Ari
And this is Girls Gone Bible. We're two imperfect girls serving a perfect God. We just love Jesus so much. We've been through a lot in our lives and we're doing the best we can and we just say, come as you are. Just don't stay here. Just don't stay here. We're keeping that in. We hope you can feel safe here. And we love you.
Angie
We love you. I'm just gonna let you guys know I am having a day today. I'm having a tough day. I walked in here a little emotional. I'll probably leave. A little emotional life, you guys, it's crazy. There's just a lot going on all the time. Yeah, well, I've never done this before, so. Wow.
Ari
What a beautiful thing that you're being real and vulnerable and what a heart of humility you have to come in here and not act like everything's okay. That's what this is all about. Glad I'm not the only one that sits. No, I know. Yeah. You want to talk about your heart a little bit?
Angie
Well, I think my heart is just. I think I'm just going through a lot of, like, transition and. Yeah, it's just uncomfortable. Like, growth is so uncomfortable. Transition is so uncomfortable. And someone stole my Erewhon delivery today.
Ari
I wasn't expecting you to say that on my porch.
Angie
I'm a little pissed off about that, too. 70 bucks. I was not expecting you.
Ari
Thank God.
Angie
I did not know how I was going to get through this.
Ari
Who stole your ear?
Angie
I don't know.
Ari
How could they? Well, they must have been really disappointing getting that plain chicken with the carrot.
Angie
First of all, they got frozen blueberries. They got metabolism boost powder, protein powder. They didn't get anything good.
Ari
They're like clean eater guys, as we all know, probiotics.
Angie
Like, there's nothing they would have wanted.
Ari
That is so funny.
Angie
I was on a prayer walk and I. The. I got Uber eats just delivery to my house so I can make a smoothie when I got back. And then I come back and the guy. I felt suspicious because the guy texted me and said, hey, is it okay if I leave it out front? And I don't know why. When I got that message, I was like, there's something suspicious here.
Ari
The Uber driver, I think he took it. He probably needed it more than you.
Angie
I. Let's hope so. Hopefully his gut health is going to take that out. Yeah. So anyways, yeah, I'm just. I'm having a day, I'm having a week. I'm having a couple months. I think full transparency, like, it never ends, it never stops. The deeper you. Yeah. And just the deeper you go with God in, like, an emotional health journey right now. I think I spent, like, years developing really strong spiritual health. Yeah.
Ari
What is. What do you mean by that?
Angie
So I just. There. I. There's a difference between your spiritual health and your emotional health. Like, they go hand in hand in some ways, but fasting and reading the Bible, which, of course, like, attributes to your emotional health. But, like, reading the Bible, praying, like, all these spiritual disciplines that I do, listening to sermons, listen to teachings, like, it's all so good for your spiritual health. And, like, my spirit's in a really good spot. I can cast out demons on the daily. Like, you know, I. You. I have all the tools that I need spiritually for spiritual warfare. And then I think God said, okay, we developed your spiritual health. Now we have to dig deep in your emotional health, and it's just, like. It's just really hard, and you have to go places you don't want to go and. Yeah. And it's like, he's so good that he. He doesn't let you. Like, when you really enter into a really deep relationship with him, it's like he doesn't let you get away with anything anymore. Like, there's no masking, there's no numbing. Like, so it just feels like it's all the time, you know? But it's good. It's really good.
Ari
We get together in it. And I'm so proud of you.
Angie
It's.
Ari
It's hard.
Angie
It's really hard.
Ari
It's like, just when you think you're good, you're not.
Angie
I know.
Ari
There's more pruning to do for the both of us. It's just been such a road for us.
Angie
I know.
Ari
Like we said yesterday, like, he's. He's like, fathering us and teaching us, reteaching us things that we were. We didn't know we had been accustomed to things as kids we thought were right.
Angie
And there's a lot of that, too. Like, deep, deep, deep rewiring and, like, being like, oh, yeah, this is how you were raised in the, you know, dysfunction that you were brought up in. And it just doesn't work for God like he is. He doesn't let you live in that. He doesn't let you operate. I think that's what he's, like, forcing me into right now. He's like, you. I can operate out of brokenness, and I can operate out of a place of, like, false power in a way. And he's like, I don't want that for you. I want you to be fully healed, fully known, fully seen, so that you can know that you're fully loved, you know?
Ari
Yeah. But the fact that you are constant working on it, constant going to God, constant wanting to be a better person. Like, look at you. Like, you should be so proud of yourself. And, like, you don't. You don't just sit in what you are. You're like, I'm. I know. I want to be better. I want to get through this. I recognize that I have some things, but I'm you every day. I see you're like, you want to be better, and you should be so proud of yourself. And I know Jesus is so proud of you.
Angie
You are.
Ari
It's amazing.
Angie
Thank you. Seriously.
Ari
And what a beautiful moment right now of humility and just, like, opening up to everyone. Because I'm sure so many people are going through this exact same thing right now, you know? And I don't know, it's not easy to open up and be so vulnerable and like, share that. So I'm sure you just freed so many people. This was so meant to be. I have goosebumps all over my right now. People need this stuff.
Angie
Hopefully. Yeah. We are truly, truly, truly so in it together. Everyone is in pain and working through something and trying to get better and. Yeah. And he stole my delivery of my performance.
Ari
I got two tickets today.
Angie
Why?
Ari
It's like, I can't believe it.
Angie
Down the drain. I'm so mad. Where's my metabolism boost powder? The guy's gonna be like.
Ari
He's probably so pissed.
Angie
He's so pissed. He wanted freaking something good from Erewhon. I gave him all the healthy weirdo stuff. He's gonna be like, this girl might need help.
Ari
So you haven't eaten and all you have is a nitro brew. Now she's gonna be flying. Remember I used to steal. I go, give me it.
Angie
Well. Cause I used to drink Celsius.
Ari
You guys remember we used to be up on here shugging energy drinks.
Angie
What were we? No, we were. I would drink so much Celsius. I would drink like three. I used to drink like six Celsius a day. I was not. Do you remember that?
Ari
Yeah, you got me on the Celsius. Okay, I was sorry.
Angie
I got you on a lot of different cakes. Oh, God. Oh, man. How are you? How's your. I mean, we filmed yesterday, but how are you? Since then?
Ari
The only thing I have to say that I was thinking about is that I'm on this like neat freak kick. Angela had gotten this lady to come do her closet. So then I said, I need somebody to do my closet because I have so much stuff. And so I had this woman come and completely just color coat my closet and organize me. And I. It changed my life. Like, my life is no longer a mess in my head.
Angie
Yeah.
Ari
And so now I'm on this kick of. I was up to like three in the morning organizing. Like, I bought these wooden baskets from Home Goods and I put every single hair product in one thing. Makeup, all this stuff. And I woke up and I was like, I just feel so clear. Like it's insane. How much good feeling. Yeah. Like how much better your life is when your home life is neat and clean and you know where things are. Like, I'm the girl. Like, you know that meme. Where. Where it's like, where's my. Oh, I found it. Where's my. Like, that's me. Like, I throw the keys. I. So, you know. And I'm not like, OCD about color coordination, but it makes such a difference. When you look at your closet and everything's neat, everything's in place. Your mind is just so clear. And so why do I say that? Because some people, our mind is such a mess. And one way to clear our mind is by having a neat, organized home life 100% God.
Angie
It says in scripture, he says, get your house in order. And, like, he means, like, your life and your mind and all the things and your priorities. But I really think he means, like, get your house in order. I can't. Like, my house right now is a little crazy because I'm so in and out, and it's. It affects my mental health. I had to go on a walk today because I was, like, already not feeling so good. Definitely can't be here right now. But tell them. Tell them about the underwear.
Ari
What underwear? The folding.
Angie
Tell them how homegirl, bless her, does such. She fold.
Ari
She folds.
Angie
So I took a video origami with the underwear. I don't know.
Ari
My girlfriend comes in the other day. She sees me folding laundry. I can't believe. I go. I went from whipping. I will. We will whipping my clothes to now folding. Like, what is it you call it?
Angie
Origami.
Ari
Origami.
Angie
Origami.
Ari
Origami.
Angie
Bless. Bless her. Bless that. The way that she folds. I. Can I be honest? I wear the. I wear the same thing. Wash it. Because I'm not. I haven't touched anything that she's done because I don't know how to refold it like that, and I'm not gonna try.
Ari
It looks so good.
Angie

Ari
They're so chill.
Angie
They're just so chill and you get to talk about so many different things. And I love when they ask questions and then you and I flesh something out together.
Ari
You know what I mean?
Angie
So do you want to go first?
Ari
No, you can go first. I. I literally screenshotted the most random questions.
Angie
I love it.
Ari
Oh, even about, like, us, I love it. Okay.
Angie
I was like obsessed with the questions that you guys asked this time. I mean, one of my favorite ones was how to cast out demons.
Ari
I saw that on your face.
Angie
Big.
Ari
And she's a perfect person too. She's. That's like. When I picture Angela, she's got this warrior suit on with her sword, just slaying them. Slaying them.
Angie
Okay, well, I got brought up with Socrates. Socrates raised me. You know, John met Socrates and he goes, oh, it all makes sense now. No wonder. Like, it's just, he brought me up in this. He told me, like, cast him out, get rid of him, tell him to go to hell. And I'm like, absolutely. Like, I just, I love the authority that we have through Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. I'll never forget when the first time we hung out and oh, which one.
Ari
She Was playing a lot of demons in my life. When she was coming in the house, I would see her do some funny stuff. I was like, what's happening?
Angie
I was so, so zealous in the beginning. I would. One of the first times we were in the car and you were just explaining to me where you were at. And I go, do you mind if I pray for you?
Ari
You said, this is the best moment in my friendship. I tell everyone this.
Angie
Tell him I put on your head. Listen to this. Ari's not familiar with the Christian world, the Christian walk at all.
Ari
No idea.
Angie
I put my hand on her head, and instead of being weirded out, she grabs my wrist and like, places it on my. It was such a beautiful, powerful moment, honestly. And we're just like. We're casting them things out.
Ari
And I'm like, she didn't know anything about me. You really didn't. You started. You knew everything in your prayer.
Angie
Like, Jesus, it's crazy. He was really insane.
Ari
He was screaming. I was on the highway. You had your hand on my head and you were literally screaming the demons out.
Angie
I did.
Ari
I said, get out. I think you rolled down the window and it was, get out, devil.
Angie
Get out. Anyways, so this is the thing about casting out demons. You have to know that the spirit realm is a legal system. I think Stephanie has talked about this. The spirit realm is a legal system. If you think back to the very beginning of our entire faith, in Exodus, God gives Moses the law. Like, that's literally how we start. So you can already see there's like legal terminology that they use in scripture. And then I always like to think of it like this. So we have the. We had the law, and then we have God, who's the ultimate judge. We have little loser Satan, who's the accuser. Holy Spirit is our advocate. And then Jesus is the one who testifies on our behalf to the Father when we place our faith in him. And Jesus rules the heavenly courts. Like, imagine, like, I really feel like this is what happens in heaven. Like, there's literally a heavenly court. Jesus rules and then there's a sentence. Either we're sentenced to eternity in heaven with Jesus or eternal separation from God. And so when you pray and you do a self deliverance and you cast out demons. But let me just preface by saying there's practical and there's spiritual. You cast out demons and then you do emotional work. And I talked about that at the beginning of the episode, how it's both spiritual discipline, spiritual health, and then emotional health. But when you Know that there's some sort of demonic activity and some sort of, like, oppression that you're under. You take authority. You take authority over whatever demonic spirit. And for me, I always speak directly to whatever it is. When I first just started following Jesus and I was experiencing a lot of panic attacks, I would go in the mirror, look at my eyes, because the eyes are like the window to your soul and to your spirit. I'd look at myself in the mirror, look at my eyes, and I'd speak directly to the panic, to the spirit of panic, spirit of anxiety, spirit of insecurity, unworthiness, depression, broken heart, whatever it is, because it's all spiritual. And I'd speak to it. And I would say, you have no legal rights.
Ari
I love.
Angie
Because it's a legal system. You have no legal rights. And I command you to leave in the name of Jesus. Go back to hell where you came from.
Ari
Right, right.
Angie
And the reason why they have legal rights is Satan has access points in us in so many different ways. Through IR gates, eye gates, the things we watch and we listen to is an access point. You give legal rights when you're consuming content or images or music that you're not supposed to sin is a major access point trauma, you know, things that have happened. There's so many ways that Satan can get an access point. And we partaking in, like engaging in activities and things that we're not supposed to, gives him legal rights to enter your body. And then all you have to do, it's so much easier than we think, is tell him you don't have those rights. Get out in Jesus name.
Ari
And then even. Even like, access points, like when you're really vulnerable, with a broken heart for the enemy to creep in because you're so weak. That's why it's so easy when we're kids, right?
Angie
Oh, 100%, yeah. Because you're vulner. Well, you're open anytime you're open in any way. That's why drugs give legal rights. You think smoking a little marijuana is okay? Totally give Satan legal rights to enter into your mind and your body.
Ari
We think weed is like, oh, no, it's something that calms me. I had a hard day at work. It's the only thing that really calms my mind. Numbing of the brain. It's the chance for you to numb out and for the devil to get in and just. Just do his work.
Angie
I'm so happy you're saying this right now, because people need to hear that and nobody talks about it enough. And I feel like as Christians, it's like, we know, don't smoke weed. Well, there's so many people who smoke weed still.
Ari
Yeah, I know.
Angie
You know, and it's really. It's not good. We're telling you right now, anything that alters your state of mind is not okay.
Ari
And it makes you more depressed in the long run. And you can't even recognize it. You think it's calming you, but in the long run, you'll notice you're more. You're. You're like. You're depressed. You can't really do anything. It keeps you bound. Weed keeps you bound.
Angie
Same as alcohol. It's not actually doing anything. You're not processing anything. You're not letting Jesus heal you. You know what I mean? Yeah. Amazing.
Ari
Amazing. Let's do a light question. How about that?
Angie
Are you sure you don't want to talk about how to cast out demons?
Ari
I don't. Should we answer one? Like, about ourselves?
Angie
Yeah. Oh, there was ones about ourselves. Yeah.
Ari
Well, someone asked, can you guys give us style advice and beauty advice? I thought that was cute. And when I read that, like, you guys know how you always see me in, like, long, flowy dresses and things like that? I wear them because it's something that puts a little bit of pep in my step. It makes me feel good, it makes me feel beautiful, and it makes me feel feminine. And so I. Anytime I'm in, like, a really low place, I'll never forget when I was in my really deep depression. But you still see me. You'd still see me in a long dress. My advice to you guys is that when you're. If you want to feel better throughout the day, if you even. Like, when I notice I have a really good day, it's because I feel good. And the way to feel good is what makes you feel good when you look presentable, when you get dressed up. So, I mean, I'm not going to speak for the guys, but for the girls, you know, for me, like, when I get ready, even if I'm just running a couple errands, when I just feel good. And for me, it's. It's a dress. And so especially when you're feeling down, get ready, take a shower, do your hair, put on some makeup, put on your best outfit. And it really does change. Change your day. It, like, makes you a little bit. It makes you feel good.
Angie
You know, it's so important. It's so important because I know on the days that I am not feeling that good, if I just get ready Just pull my hair back. Just do something that, like, makes me feel like I'm ready for the day. It changes everything. Yeah. I would say they wanted, like, tips for beauty and stuff.
Ari
Yeah. Beauty advice.
Angie
I would say skincare is just so incredibly important. I think Ari and I have, like, such a. An emphasis on skin care. Even though we wake up with, like, mascara down here, we. Skin care is so important to us. I think if you're going to invest in anything, you would agree.
Ari
Medical grade.
Angie
Skin care is really important. I think in terms of makeup, I would say, like, just because something is a trend doesn't mean that it's right for you. Like, I know for me, I have a very specific way that I like to do my makeup. And, like, if I did makeup the way you did, it wouldn't look good on me because we don't have the same face.
Ari
You gotta see our face when somebody else does our makeup. We look like different people.
Angie
Can you tell them what you told me the other day? So I needed to let you guys in on something. So you know how I have a little bit of control problems sometimes. I asked Ari the other day, I said, why is it that every time. And I tell you, every time I'm getting my hair and makeup done, Specifically my makeup, my hair, I can, like, I can work through it. If I get my makeup done, done, I'm crying by the end of it.
Ari
Yeah.
Angie
And I'm just like. Because I get really anxious, really nervous, and I just get emotional, and I'm like, I feel like I hate it while it's being done. And then an hour later, I look in the mirror, I'm like, you're so beautiful. What am I talking about? And I asked Ari, like, what is that? She goes, ange, because you're not in control. I said, oh, yeah, that makes so much sense.
Ari
Crazy. We all have our things.
Angie
I know.
Ari
Also, we love a good side bang. I feel like it really adds to the. I don't know. It makes me feel so much better.
Angie
My mom gets so mad at me if I don't have side bangs. Both of our moms are nuts about our hair for some.
Ari
Like, why is your hair like that? It's so flat.
Angie
My mom. Every single time I see you haven't cut your bangs in six months, I'm.
Ari
Like, okay, but can I just. It's just when you were talking, it just kept going in my mind. I'll just say one last thing. I remember when I was wearing all the best makeup, all the best clothes, I was doing all the things I was even. Even when I had my hair dysmorphia and I was getting my bangs cut every two weeks, I still felt like crap. And it's because when you're. You don't have peace and so chaotic in your mind, there's nothing you can do to feel beautiful. And so if you're someone who just came to Christianity and you're trying to all do all the things to feel good and get in all the makeup and all the clothes, but you're still not feeling good, it's because you don't have peace. When I started having peace in my life, I started to feel more beautiful. When I started to really submit to Jesus, that's how I, like, we. We became so confident. So no matter how much makeup, hair, all these things, you know, I know I sound really cliche, but the minute I started to have true peace, I felt more beautiful. And you can see it in your eyes is absolutely.
Angie
You can, like, you can have everything, all the makeup, all the hair, everything. If you don't have peace, like, it's. It's internal. It's all internal. That's why some people who aren't conventionally. Conventionally the most beautiful to the world standards could be literally one of the most beautiful people you've ever seen. Like, I know people who the world might not say is that beautiful, but I look at them in person, and you're like. Like, I literally see Jesus have that glow. Yeah, just like they shine. You shine when you know Jesus. Like, you really do.
Ari
You know Jesus. And when you're. When you're good. Yeah, you know, so well.
Angie
I was going to say one more thing. Where did it go? I was going to say. Oh. I was going to say, as you guys know, Ari and I have been on a journey with modesty for quite a long time. I think we've both. Both finally. And I'm sure there's still work to do, and I'm sure we might not get it right every time, but I really believe in both. It's not about what you wear. It's not about what you do, what you say. It is literally about your heart. You can tr. Like, yes, you should be obedient even if you're not feeling it. And I think that's what we did. We were like, okay, well, we don't really feel this yet. Like, we're supposed to, you know, we don't really understand why we have to dress like this or why we can't wear crop tops. Me personally. But then you walk in obedience. Even if you don't understand, your heart begins to change and you realize, like, now I can't even imagine even wearing a crop top. I don't like. You know what I mean? It's so crazy. I just like, I don't know, you really begin to be like. It's just not even a question anymore. It's like, I would literally never dress like that. Why would I want anyone to see me like that? Why would I ever want anybody to see more skin on me than they need to?

So someone asked the question was do you read as much as you can in quiet time? How what is. Let's both tell them our quiet time routines because I think people want to know that so much. I think I've and it changes over time and in different seasons you need different things from God. So true. I think like for me it's like always evolving. I never just do one thing. I spent a long time like when I first started following Jesus, I was so obsessed with. With the Bible. Like I love scripture so much. I just it's the easiest way to access Jesus. Sometimes you don't always feel it. Sometimes you don't always have these crazy encounters. Sometimes you don't have access to your own heart so you can't. Like I feel that sometimes. Sometimes I'll get into the secret place and I'll, I'm like, I can tell that I don't even have access to my own heart. So I feel like I can't access you. So it's making me feel like you're not here, blah blah blah. And I a Few months ago. Because I used to like, panic when that would happen. I know. And I would be like, oh no, something's wrong and I've lost the anointing. Like, so silly. And then I realize, like, Scripture is always here, regardless of how we feel. So if we can't access him emotionally, which he's always in us and always around us, he's right here. If you feel nothing, just keep reading. You know what I mean? So have freedom. That if you're like, whatever, in a season that's a little dry, Jesus has not left you. He's not gone. Just keep reading, keep committing to scripture. Cuz he's in this, this season is him. And then I think recently and I used to read a lot, a lot of scripture, like as many chapters as I could. Like, that was kind of like my MO When I was in my quiet time. And I really. It's taken on different forms. But recently, the past few months, like the scripture, that's like one thing I've desired. That I will seek that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple, which is like to meditate on his goodness. To meditate in his house. Beholding Jesus is the best thing that you can do. It is such a beautiful way to cultivate intimacy with him is to literally sit there and do nothing. Like, you can worship, you can listen to music, but to sit there and just behold the beauty that is Jesus. And you can do that by sitting. Sitting and imagining his face. For me, I'll sit and I'll imagine his face with the crown of thorns around his head. That's like pushed into his head. You see the blood. Like I envision him. Something that gets me really quickly is just imagining his hands and his feet with the nails in them. Imagining. We don't know what his face looks like exactly, but we have descriptions of them. The cr, the crown of thorns, his nail, pierced hands and feet, the slit in his side from when they pierced him. And that's just how I. I meditate on his face. I meditate on his body. I imagine him with the wounds on his back. And I just behold the beauty that is our wounded king. Like Jesus with his crown. But he's wounded and weak and broken and bruised. And like, you just behold, like, that's so beautiful. That is so beautiful. And I just sit there and you meditate on that. And then like I will sit and I just ask him. I'm not Going to work for your love. But I'm just gonna let you pour your love into me. Holy Spirit, come pour your love. Wash me in your peace. Wash me in your love. Wash me, clothe me in your righteousness. You died so that I would be clothed in your righteousness. And yeah, that's kind of what it looks like.
Ari
You know what's crazy that you're saying that is that you know that video that you shared with me about, it's like. And we should. And I would love to link this because I listened to it this morning. Actually, I have chills because the Michael Kulianos one, it's the 20 minutes of him sharing about Jesus.
Angie
Oh, yes, yes, yes.
Ari
So I was having such a hard time this morning, connecting, just like it was like my mind was racing this morning. And I simply put on that video. And he says, close your eyes. And he just talks about the gospel of Jesus and what happened to him and how. And it was. I had tears, just, oh, if you want.
Angie
Okay, we're gonna. Such a good point for you guys, if you want. This is something John started doing. It's like a little funny, but it's not funny. But he started telling me the gospel every night. And so like on the phone or if we're in person, he just gives me the gospel. He gives me the three minute version, that's the 20. You know, like getting the gospel in your body and like in your mind and just repeatedly being like, what did he do? Why did he do it? Hearing the story of Jesus reading the gospel, like, yes, thank you for saying that the gospel is enough. What Jesus did on the cross is enough. When you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you and it's okay if you don't feel it all the time. It's not about feelings. But there it's just like, you should have such a direct connection to the gospel because it's your life story. Like, it's literally Jesus's story is our story. It's directly connected. And so listening to the gospel being told is the best thing.
Ari
I can't believe what that it did, what it did to me this morning.
Angie
It'll change you.
Ari
And it. And it also made me say everything is okay. It brings you back to what he did. The suffering, pain he went through. It brings us like, it brought such a love. It like reunited. Because I just was not feeling good. I didn't even want to go into my quiet place this morning. And hearing those words and closing my eyes and getting a picture of him, I was like, I found myself literally just going, I love you. I just. I love you so much. I mean, I just was like, forgive me. I am nothing and you are everything, and I just love you. And I just. And I. And I didn't even. I didn't even pray. I just. I was, like, rocking back and forth and just being like, thank you.
Angie
You just dwell.
Ari
Thank you.
Angie
Yes. You just dwell and just let him. Let him come. Wait. That's the one thing that I would say.
Ari
Stay.
Angie
Steph. Stephanie told. Taught us, like, over a year ago. I remember she said one word that stuck with me. She said, linger, linger. We leave too soon. We go too early. You don't know how many times. And I'm going to let you guys into literally what has happened to me so many times that I'll be in my quiet time and I'll be praying. Sometimes I'm sitting on the floor. Sometimes I'm marching around. Sometimes I'm worshiping. It changes every time. It just depends. Sometimes I drink a little too much coffee and I can't sit still. So I'm marching around and I'm using, doing what I can with what I've got that morning. And there has been so many times where I've been like, okay, well, I feel. I try not to leave until I feel released. I try not to leave, but there's part of me that's like, if I have the time, I don't want to leave until I. I just want to see him. I want to reach him. I just want to. I want to experience all that he has to offer. And he longs to touch us. He longs to give us something. We all are so desperate from a touch from God, and he wants to give it to us. We just don't stay long enough. We just don't give him enough time. And so there's been so many times where I'm like, okay, that was an hour of, like, good worship and prayer. And I really. I. I felt fiery. I felt like, we're good. I'll get up, I'll walk in. Then I'll feel him be like, come back. I have something else for you. I'm like, okay, it's happened to me so many times. And then I sit down and I'm like, okay, what do you have? And then I get wrecked by his presence because I chose. And there have been times where I felt that pull and I left. Who knows what I missed in that moment. You know what I mean? But it's just like, lingering, lingering. Staying. Just staying. You don't have to have something crazy happening to just stay in the moment, stay off your phone, just walk around, think about Jesus. And at any moment, the spirit of God can, like you have. You don't know when he wants, but I know. I just imagine he wants commitment, commitment from us.
Ari
Commitment and a hunger. And then oftentimes, you know, I think you said the scripture last night, but you have not, because you ask not. And oftentimes we find ourselves asking for all these things. And Lord, would you bless me in this way? And Lord, would you do this? And could you protect me from this instead of simply just being like, I want you, I just want you.
Angie
And.
Ari
And I have. It's so crazy that you were just talking about this because the other day I just. I was like, I don't want anything, Lord. I just want to encounter you. I just want you the very next day. And you know it's an encounter. And you know, it's a touch from when you open the word or something and you just feel that touch and you start bawling your eyes out. And I prayed before bed and I said, lord, I just want to encounter you. Whether it's in a dream or could you just. Could you touch me? Could you just touch my heart? And that very next day, I opened the Bible and I was just reading something so random, but I just started bawling my eyes out. And I look up and I said, that's it. That's a touch, sweet Jesus. One touch of Jesus is like. It's just the most fulfilling thing you could ever want. That's what we should be asking in prayer. Not asking for, you know, although we do that. You know, we are supposed to bring everything to him, but. But reminding yourself that he's what we want. So asking for an encounter with him. Yeah, I think you said it. Same with me. I just. Lately, I told Angelus that I've been waking up. I get really distracted in the mornings. I'm like, the phone and this and that and just what do I have to do with work? So I've trained myself to waking me up at 5 and I finally pushed myself and I trained myself to go out and go into my secret place. And it, like, changed my life because there's something about having that time with him before the sun rises that is so intimate. You don't feel like you're rushed.
Angie
Totally.
Ari
And so it's really. It's just. It's felt different. Waking up before the sun goes up. It's more intimate for me. I mean, it might not work for everyone. But if you, you know, if you feel called to it or if God is waking you up at that time, I would, I would encourage you to push yourself because it's helped. It's just, it's been a game changer for me. Matthew 6, verse 6. It says, when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen. And when I read that, I just, it was such a great reminder of to come. Just honestly. Yeah, and when you have a relationship, you think about your, your closest relationship with your, with your parent or your friend. It's when you can be so honest and real and raw. And so that's what I would just encourage you. It's not, not how deep in your faith you are. It's not how smart you are. It's coming with an honest, open heart. And that's when I feel the presence of God the most, when I come raw and honest. Okay, somebody asked, which I think is like, it's just so important for people to hear, somebody said, what do you say to those who are double minded? And you and I, I mean you and I can talk so much about this because we've seen so many different types of people. Double minded refers to people who have like divided loyalty or conflicting thoughts about God or their commitment to God or who they think God is. And it's just so dangerous because when you don't know, when you don't. When you don't know fully and it's a journey obviously, and it's a process and you don't get there overnight, but when you are somebody who's divided in your thoughts about God. And I'll speak from my own experience. Like my whole beginning of my journey following Jesus. Again, it's a process, but it's important for people to know. And I encourage you guys to like get over the hump of double mindedness and move into full commitment and devotion to Jesus and His Word and what he says. Because I know when I was on fire for Jesus and I believed him in this and this and this. But then there was so much about my life that didn't reflect that because I didn't believe His Word. For A, B and C, all that's being double minded. You believe him on some things and you don't believe him on others. Yeah, he is in. I want all of you, God. There is no. That's why people that are lukewarm, like, that's why he's so intense about being one foot in and one foot out. Because it's not good for you. It leads to confusion and it makes you. It's just instability, complete instability. It hinders your spiritual growth. Like there's inconsistency in your spiritual growth when you're double minded minded and you have that unbelief and you're not believing him fully. And so I just want you guys to have this be an area that you attack. Like if there's parts in you, it's just got to be your number one priority. You're not a bad person, you're not a bad Christian, but it has to be your number one priority to be so devoted to the Word of God and attack every bit of unbelief. There's this verse in James 1:8. It says he is a double minded man, unstable in all his ways. You can't be stable when you're double minded. You can't be stable when you don't know about God in His Word and what he actually says. It says that person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
Ari
Yeah, it's true.
Angie
It's just you're blocking yourself. Not because he is mad at you and doesn't want to give you things. You are blocking what God wants to do for you with your unbelief when you don't. There's so much God wanted to do in my life, but I wouldn't let him because I didn't believe him fully. I believed him about all this stuff. But I had one or two things over here that I was like, I'm going to keep, keep this. Because yeah, I just, I can, I'm So prideful to think that I can, you know, wow. And then just Paul writes in Philippians, he says, I say it with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows that they're really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. You know, it's just. It's dangerous.
Ari
Someone said, sometimes I feel disgusted by myself and my mistakes. How do I navigate this one thing that has really helped me? And I, you know, I felt the same way. I. That's why I almost didn't come to Christianity, because I felt so inadequate. And then when I think about my journey, when I had my first encounter with God, it was the most imperfect I had ever been, the most broken I had ever felt. And yet it was the most love that I had ever felt from Jesus. And when I started to learn about everyone in the Bible, I realized how imperfect they were. And I just love this little thing that you can go off of. Jacob was a cheater. Peter had a temper. David had an affair. Noah got drunk. Jonah ran from God. Paul was a murderer. Gideon was insecure. Miriam was go. Was a gossip. Martha was a worrier. Thomas was a doubter. Sarah was impatient. Elijah was moody. Moses stuttered. And yeah, so who am I? You were the drunk, I was the yes.
Angie
Did you really just say you were the drunk?
Ari
I was the stutterer.
Angie
That is so crazy to say drunk.
Ari
And so think about Peter, one of Jesus most follow, most loyal friends. And Jesus knew Peter was going to deny him. And so he said to Peter, I'm gonna pray that you have faith. And so I know. Do you know that was a story that made me cry. And so he said, you are going to deny me three times before the rooster crows. And at the end, when Peter denied him three times before the rooster crowed, all of a sudden, Peter had an epiphany of, oh, my gosh, I just denied Jesus. Because he remembered what Jesus said when he said, you are going to deny me three times. And that's when he realized what he had did. He realized he made that mistake. So many of us. Jesus knows. He knows that we are these imperfect humans who make makes mistakes. Peter didn't even realize until he remembered what Jesus said. We are flawed humans who just make mistakes, who sometimes we do things we don't even realize. We're just merely human beings that just we make mistakes. And what did Jesus say to him? What was Jesus worried about? He said to Peter, peter, do you love me? He asked him three different times, do you love me? And so it's just such a good indication of. Of God's mercy and God's grace and God's love. And God's love is steadfast. And he is slow to get angry and quick to forgive. And we have to remember that. We have to remember God's love for us. And so when you start to think about all the things you did wrong, we have to remember what he did for us on that cross and how he is a God of love and mercy and how much he loves you and how he's just waiting for you to. To say, come back in my arms. All I care about is a broken, repentant spirit before me, to come before me and say, I'm sorry. And he is so quick to forgive and he loves you.
Angie
My favorite part about that is when he says, I pray for your unbelief. Jesus is our intercessor. Even now, because he's not dead, he's very much alive in heaven. And he prays to God on our behalf. Literally, it says in Romans that he's our intercessor. And he prays to the Father on our behalf. He prays for us in our weaknesses. He knows why I suck. He knows why you suck. And he prays for us amidst. You know what I mean? Like, not only does he know about our weaknesses, he intercedes and tries to help us. And not tries. He does help us in them. So, like, everything that's wrong about you, everything that sucks about you, and we all have it. Trust me. We all have dirt and gunk and things that we need weeded out and taken out. Like, Jesus is helping you in your weaknesses. He not only knows about it, he's already on it, he's already praying for you. It's so sweet. Okay, guys, we love you so much. Thanks for being here for another GGB question session. I love these. I love doing these with you.
Ari
Hey, can you comment if you like these and if you want us to do more of these? Because we love them and we hope you love them as much as we do.
Angie
Yeah. And if you're. You made it to the end, you're a real one. I'm telling you, I have such a connection to the people who make it to the end because of, like, you're so cool for staying. You're real.
Ari
You're just real. You're really cool.
Angie
You're really cool. We love you. We're obsessed with you. We pray for you. We just thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for the grace that you give us. Thank you for being there for us. Thank you for loving us the way you do. Sorry for crying in the beginning, but I want you guys to know that you get us through so many bad days that you will have no idea about. But we know. We know how much we rely on you guys. So thank you. We love you so much.
Ari
We love you, you guys so much. Thank you for all you do for us. Thank you for all your prayers too.
Angie
Yeah. Please continue to pray.
Ari
Let us know how we can pray for you. Exactly commented in the box.
Angie
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May he make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May he turn his face towards you and give you peace.
Ari

Podcast Summary: Girls Gone Bible - Emotional Question Session
Episode Information
In the "Emotional Question Session" episode of Girls Gone Bible, hosts Angela Halili and Arielle Reitsma open up about their personal struggles and invite listeners to engage in a deep, heartfelt dialogue about faith, emotional health, and personal growth. This episode emphasizes vulnerability, the interplay between spiritual and emotional well-being, and provides practical advice rooted in Christian teachings.
The episode begins with Angela expressing her emotional state, admitting, "I am having a day today. I'm having a tough day. I walked in here a little emotional." (02:28). Ari responds with encouragement, highlighting the importance of being real and vulnerable, stating, "What a beautiful thing that you're being real and vulnerable." (02:46). This exchange sets the tone for an honest and open conversation, illustrating the hosts' commitment to authenticity in their faith journey.
Angela delves into the distinction between spiritual and emotional health, explaining, "There's a difference between your spiritual health and your emotional health. They go hand in hand in some ways." (05:02). She shares her experience of having strong spiritual practices, such as fasting and Bible reading, which have fortified her spiritual well-being. However, she acknowledges the challenges in addressing emotional health, emphasizing that true spiritual growth necessitates confronting uncomfortable emotional truths. "God doesn't let you get away with anything anymore. There's no masking, there's no numbing." (05:00).
A significant portion of the episode focuses on the topic of casting out demons. Angela provides a comprehensive explanation using the analogy of the spirit realm as a legal system. "We have the law, and then we have God, who's the ultimate judge. Satan is the accuser, and Jesus rules the heavenly courts." (17:36). She outlines the importance of recognizing and asserting authority over demonic influences through prayer and self-deliverance, coupled with emotional healing. "You cast out demons and then you do emotional work." (19:03).
In response to a listener's question about style and beauty advice, Angela and Ari discuss how personal appearance can impact emotional health. Ari shares her preference for wearing flowy dresses to boost her mood, saying, "It's something that puts a little bit of pep in my step. It makes me feel good, it makes me feel beautiful." (17:05). Angela adds, "When you're feeling down, get ready, take a shower, do your hair, put on some makeup, put on your best outfit. It really does change your day." (25:06). They emphasize that while external appearances can enhance self-esteem, true beauty radiates from inner peace and confidence in one's faith.
The hosts share their personal quiet time routines, highlighting the evolving nature of their spiritual practices. Angela describes her meditation on the suffering of Jesus, visualizing His wounds to deepen her connection, stating, "I sit there and just behold the beauty that is our wounded king." (28:34). Ari discusses the impact of waking up early to engage in intimate prayer and meditation, noting, "There's something about having that time with him before the sun rises that is so intimate." (43:13). They encourage listeners to find personalized methods to cultivate a deeper relationship with God.
Addressing a listener's question on double-mindedness, Angela warns against divided loyalty and inconsistent commitment to faith. "Double-minded refers to people who have divided loyalty or conflicting thoughts about God." (49:26). She cites James 1:8, emphasizing that a double-minded person is unstable and hinders their spiritual growth. The hosts advocate for unwavering devotion and the importance of aligning one's beliefs and actions with God's Word to achieve spiritual stability.
When confronted with feelings of self-disgust and imperfection, the hosts share personal anecdotes to illustrate how God's love transcends human flaws. Ari reflects on her struggles with self-worth, "I was the stutterer." (52:27), and Angela discusses overcoming feelings of inadequacy through God's grace. They highlight biblical figures who were imperfect yet beloved by God, reinforcing the message that God's mercy extends to all, regardless of their shortcomings. "God's love for us is steadfast.
