Hello and welcome to Global Sanctuary for Elephants podcast. Global Rumblings. Global Sanctuary for Elephants, or GSE for short, is a non profit organization with a mission to create vast, safe spaces for captive elephants where they are able to heal physically and emotionally, often from very traumatic pasts. I'm your host, Nadia Mari, and I'll be taking you to the lush jungle of the Mato Grosso region in central Brazil, home of GSE's initial project. Elephant Sanctuary, Brazil, currently home to five female Asian elephants, lovingly referred to as the Girls. Hi, everyone. Welcome back to a new and slightly unusual episode of Global Rumblings. As you might have noticed this, this episode is slightly shorter than usual. With holidays and work commitments, the podcast team is taking a short break. But we didn't want to leave you hanging. So our producer Bob has rummaged through his virtual rubbish bin to bring you a collection of pre recording chats, bloopers and other outtakes. We hope you enjoy it. At the sanctuary, there are feathery distractions, like cute fluffy owls, but also hairy ones.
Bob
Some elephants can tolerate it better than others. I am still not sure why Cat's laughing at me today, but I am distracted.
Nadia Mari
Sorry, Peter.
Bob
Sorry, Bob.
Nadia Mari
I'm looking at the. I couldn't tell if it was a hair that was actually attached to your ear or.
Bob
We are supposed to be recording a podcast. I know. Not looking at the hair, I'm looking at you.
Nadia Mari
Sure. Should we start again? I'll clap and then Bob will just quit. Now you can start off a classic story stolen from. This is a family show, so the next clip is not rude. It's actually a technical feature of Scott and Cat's microphone. Okay, again, just say clap. Cut.
Bob
My lovely co pilot here is a little quiet today, so you're going to have to poke her and prod her and ask her some questions.
Nadia Mari
Why? She's got a. She's got her brand new. I'll say it. Apex oral exciter. Why. Why is Cat. Whoops. Somebody forgot to turn off the radio. Putting all of that off and actually sitting there and watching them. Sorry. That's okay.
Bob
And not in a physical touch way. She wants to feel. Feel. All of you. Sorry.
Nadia Mari
Sorry, Bob. Have to cut that out. Maya and Gita, kind of shutting her and her time on her own. Sorry. Clapping in sync is not easy. And clapping twice doesn't solve the problem either.
Bob
Oh, I need to. Mine too.
Nadia Mari
I think I've given you permission.
Bob
Yep, mine started too. I think we're recording everywhere, so we should be good. Cat just gave us the Thumbs up.
Nadia Mari
Do I have to clap, too?
Bob
Nope.
Nadia Mari
3, 2, 1, clap. We're not good at that.
Bob
We're not good at that. I do it. I do it. When you say clap, I need to. The word clap is when our hands hit.
Nadia Mari
We should sing a song. Okay, this is ridiculous. Three, two, one, clap. Okay, we're still off time. It doesn't matter. Sorry, Bob.
Bob
We're gonna do it on three, two, one. And at one is one is when.
Nadia Mari
Our hands hit two, one. Dina said we should sing a song. Okay.
Bob
How to. How to be out of sync with clapping? Sorry, Bob, for the clapping mishap. Recording in progress.
Nadia Mari
Okay, then I'll just. You say you're taking the microphone out or something, then I'll clap or.
Bob
Yep, you're all set. You can count us down and clap anytime you want, Bob. If this doesn't work, it's all on Nadia. It's her fault.
Nadia Mari
I feel great. 3, 2, 1, over the place.
Bob
Okay, I think we are recording everywhere.
Nadia Mari
Okay, I think I just need to clap.
Bob
Okay. Nadia's a little extra, extra excited. Wanted to clap twice today.
Nadia Mari
See if she can confuse Bob. From bad Internet connections to low batteries, we have many technical problems.
Bob
Okay, we. Nadi. I'm throw another problem into the mix here. I don't know why. My battery is draining more than normally. On my radio. On my. My phone. I'm sorry, not my phone, my computer. Okay, so I think what we need to do is we need to switch to. That's not going to work.
Nadia Mari
You just need to go, go, go.
Bob
Okay. Go, go, go.
Nadia Mari
Inventing new country names is fun. The mother and daughter duo rescued from the Mendoza Eco park zoo in Argentina. I'll say that again. Looking for the right word and going off track.
Bob
What's the word I'm looking for? Cut, Edit.
Nadia Mari
Outtake.
Bob
So with that, I am now off track. So with that. And I don't know where I was going with that. Bob.
Nadia Mari
Saying goodbye isn't always easy. So, yeah, have a great rest of your afternoon. Thanks as always for your time and. Yeah, until we meet up again in a couple of weeks to record. Take care.
Bob
Oh, my God. Thank you, Nadia. We'll talk soon.
Nadia Mari
Take care. Bye. Okay, everyone, that's it for this year. But only for this year. And to make the time go. Not so fast. I'm gonna have to record this, I think. Okay, we're nearly over. I'll. I'll record the. The end.
Bob
And goodbye.
Nadia Mari
We hope this episode brought a smile to your face. Our next episode is out on the 5th of November. Until then, take care and keep rumbling it.
