Kirby
Go I won't play among the stars. A little more. A little more. G L A M Los Angeles.
Sarah
Hi, Kirby. Hi, Sarah. Welcome to Los Angeles. Hello, Quennifer.
Kirby
We have the diva herself in studio.
Sarah
She ain't no diva.
Kirby
She ain't no diva. She ain't no diva. Quennifra Aniston here in the flesh. She had to come with mom to work. We are so blessed. Look at this face made for television. I'm telling you that much.
Sarah
She looks like she got her new spring haircut.
Kirby
She did. She. She got her. Thanks, Thomas.
Sarah
She got her new spring haircut.
Kirby
Oh, my God. Wow. You know where the camera is, babe.
Sarah
Wow.
Kirby
Somebody get her a contract. Thank you. So we have this diva.
Sarah
We saw another diva.
Kirby
Another diva. Ms. Beyonce. Giselle Knowles. Carter, I really need to tell the general public if you do not like Beyonce, that's your personal prerogative, but you gotta respect her. At the very least, don't be a hater.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
Don't try to minimize her talent. Don't try to say she's not dancing as much this tour. She's dancing her ass off. You go to this concert, it's two and a half hours of standing up. Like, at one point we were sitting down because I was like, I can't stand up any longer. Like, I'm exhausted just watching this.
Sarah
Is that what people are saying?
Kirby
Yes on TikTok. There's a lot of people going, well, she's not putting in.
Sarah
Oh my.
Kirby
I'm like, well, first of all, are you kidding me? Even if she wasn't, she's allowed to. That's her God given right. Yeah, but I mean, it's actually flabbergasting when I hear people malign this woman.
Sarah
The first thing I texted you when you asked me how the show was was she was amazing. But then I was like, I don't know how she is still doing this like. Or why. Like, if I were, I would just be sitting at home. But the point is she can and she delivers the best show. Like, she is unreal.
Kirby
She is totally unreal. I mean, it really is. My friend Megan went with me and she cried like immediately when she came out. It was Kirby Taylor Swift moment. I was like, now I know how to be on the other side of this. But it really is this moment where you see her come out and she's just sitting and she is just. Her presence.
Sarah
Yeah, her presence.
Kirby
You know, I have to give credit where it's due for all of these celebrities that have, like, these huge fan bases, like, being able to be seen on a public platform on that level. Like, there were so many people in this stadium that I was like, you have to have just this unwavering faith and confidence in yourself to walk out and be like, I'm what you're looking at.
Sarah
Yeah, yeah.
Kirby
Like, I get nervous walking into an event and being like, is somebody gonna perceive me? Like, this is weird. But she obviously has been doing it for so blue. Ivy Carter. Never been more proud to be a Capricorn. Never.
Sarah
She is really, really, like, blossomed into this, like, insanely talented, gorgeous young woman.
Kirby
She is beautiful.
Sarah
She's 13.
Kirby
She's 13. And I was like, okay, yeah, Capricorn status. Like, she's like, okay, school's out.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
Got a job.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
Choreographed dances for my mother's worldwide tour.
Sarah
I mean, she basically. And she, like, fill in when Beyonce needed to go, like, change into a costume and, like, fix her hair.
Kirby
Oh, yeah. She was doing the deja vu moment, swinging her head around. She's tall. I literally googled that. How tall is Beyonce? Because I was like, she's taller than Beyonce in heels.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
And she. Beyonce's five, six. For some reason I thought she was shorter, but she's. She's more of like a mid height. So 5, 6.
Sarah
Blue is easily 5, 7 or 5, 8%. And she's literally 13 years old.
Kirby
No, I'm like, she's going to model or something. She has to. She's so stunning. But also, this is the other thing too. I remember last year, people were kind of. She was like 11 when she was performing at Renaissance and people were like, oh, she doesn't have it. I'm like, first of all, she's 11 and she's operating on a level better than some of your 11 year olds.
Sarah
Oh, my God.
Kirby
Like, be so serious.
Sarah
Yes. Also. And then they would edit the first show she danced and then the very last one, and you're like, oh, right. You guys. She's just like, she's a child and she's learning and.
Kirby
Right. I'm like, are we really doing this? And then last night, because we're filming this a day after, I went. But like, she's so good. But I felt like, age appropriate. Like, when she's dancing, she's not like grinding.
Sarah
No, no, no.
Kirby
Dancer. She's not like, really shaking her ass. Like, she's dancing like, a 13 year old should be dancing.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
And one thing I did notice is. So Beyonce has been doing different songs at these concerts. There's only been two so far as of filming.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
But when she sang Formation, she doesn't sing the Red Lobster Line. And Blue was out there with her. And so I was like clocking every time that there would be, like a profanity or something or like some kind of suggestive lyric. If Blue was out there, she wasn't singing it.
Sarah
Yeah. So I went with Levi's. And as you know, like, Levi's has this relationship with Beyonce partnership. And there were some costume moments where the dancers were wearing, like, Levi's. And then obviously Beyonce has her Levi's jeans song. And someone from the team mentioned to me. Cause I was like, oh, my God, like, Blue Ivy looks so good. And she just. I can't believe she's so young. Like, she's like, I wish I looked like that when I was 13. Yeah. And this person mentioned that Levi's, you know, outfitted the dancers, but Blue wore different styles than the other dancers because, you know, sometimes, like, the rib cage straight could be like, too. Maybe not sexy, but, you know, just a little bit more mature of a cut for a 13 year old. And so they made sure that she wore something different. They're very mindful of that. Like you said, even though she's like up there doing her thing, like, she's still. It's like age appropriate for her.
Kirby
I think it's very age appropriate. And Ms. Tina came out because she's a number one bestseller for her book that came out.
Sarah
She also looks so good.
Kirby
And so it was Tina, Beyonce, Blue, Rumi after Protector, which everyone was crying.
Sarah
What is Rumi's sign?
Kirby
I think she's a Gemini.
Sarah
Okay. Because I'm.
Kirby
Oh.
Sarah
And she's literally a twin.
Kirby
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sarah
But she's, like, so happy to be.
Kirby
On stage and like 7 years old. So she's like, what? Like. And then Blue's, you know, in the background, like, so poised, like, doing her dance.
Sarah
Did Beyonce say, oh, last night too?
Kirby
No.
Sarah
Okay. Because on the Monday show, after Rumi, like, was so excited to be there, Beyonce said, uh, oh, she goes, that's.
Kirby
Gonna be a problem.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
She. No, I was thinking about this. I'm sure when this conversation happened of, okay, is Blue gonna do this?
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
She's weighing her options as a mother, where it's like, okay, I've been doing this for so long. I know what it takes out of you. I know what you have to put into it. I know how gratifying it can be. I know how amazing the feeling is. Do I want my child to get a taste of this, this young? Because once she does, she's not gonna wanna not have it.
Sarah
Totally.
Kirby
And I was like, that's such a big conversation to have with yourself, your husband, your daughter.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
You don't you want to give her everything?
Sarah
Especially because Beyonce is so private.
Kirby
Yes.
Sarah
So you would think that she would keep Rumi, you know, away from the limelight for a little bit longer, but, I mean, everyone was sobbing when she came out.
Kirby
No, and I think too, like, because Blue's out there, it's like.
Sarah
Well, yeah. And the song.
Kirby
And the song is about being a protector. It's like her daughters. I know, right? It was funny you mentioned Beyonce being so private, and I felt like I saw more of her personality. This tour, this concert versus Renaissance, for.
Sarah
Some reason, it felt a little bit. I mean, not. I'm gonna say it felt a little bit more laid back. Not that, like, the production was laid.
Kirby
Down by any means.
Sarah
But, yeah, it felt a little bit more like she, like, talked to the audience.
Kirby
Yeah, I felt like she was talking to people. And then one thing that I really like that she does is I don't know if she finds out from security or her team, but in the pit, names like the Honey Buck and the Sweet Honey Pit, I guess she hears of, like, oh, it's Justin's birthday today. So she's like, walking around in between songs going, happy birthday, Justin. Like, looking into this one pit. Or like, I'm like, are they showing her photos?
Sarah
Do they have, like, a sign that says, it's my birthday?
Kirby
And then last night, what was crazy is at the end, someone was holding up a sign that was like, I'm pregnant. And when Beyonce was walking by, she goes. It was like, literally the end of the show, she goes, we have a baby on the way. And we were all like, excuse me. And then we're like, oh, no, she's reading a sign. Thank God. Like, we were all freaking out. But I think that she was a little bit more personable. Like, I felt like she did seem more relaxed and more happy and more exciting. You were saying that she though, you know, she's notoriously private. And I start, I told my friend Megan last night, you know, these visuals are so stunning that she does. And I'm like, we've been robbed of all these music videos because she does these amazing visuals at her concerts. But I was like, this hoe loves to be naked. I know.
Sarah
Also smoking a cigar. There was so hot.
Kirby
Cigar, cigar, cigarette. Like, she's smoking and she's naked. And I'm like, we can't even get a picture of her at a sacred Ulta Beauty event.
Sarah
Oh, my God. Yeah.
Kirby
But like, she wants to be butt naked in the visuals. It's just funny. It's just like her, like.
Sarah
But it's like through the lens of her and her team. It has to be through that lens.
Kirby
Totally, totally. Anyways, if you get the opportunity to see Beyonce truly just go, even if you're not a die hard fan, like, you will know most of the songs, right?
Sarah
And it's just like, it's just impressive.
Kirby
She's incredible. She's incredible. Absolutely. Love her. Shout out to smooch Beauty for hooking me up at that concert. We had an amazing suite and it was awesome. I got to bring a friend.
Sarah
So, so fun.
Kirby
Okay, let's get into some actual news. First things first, there is a product that our listeners have been testing. I did not know how this was gonna go.
Sarah
Same.
Kirby
I'm actually so shook by these before and afters and I. This obviously is a partnership.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
But we don't have to say this. The before and afters for this product. I mean, I thought I noticed a change on myself, but some of these. Oh, incredible.
Sarah
I'm like, so thrilled for Six Science. I was like, oh, you're welcome. No, before and afters are like. I'm like, you need to be using these in your marketing materials.
Kirby
Totally. We were in the slack reading immediately when people were trying, and they're like, oh, this is like an interesting serum. And then maybe like two weeks in, people are like, am I crazy? Am I noticing a difference? Like, I don't know, are you? And then they started posting before and afters, and it's crazy. So the glams have been testing this product from a brand called six Science. It's about a year old, and it's called Shapeshift V line jaw defining serum.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
It is a gel serum. And the way it works, they say it works at a molecular level to help naturally release lipid droplets, which are AKA fat reserves. Okay, okay. Revealing a more sculpted jawline and a visibly lifted, tighter neck. After eight weeks of use.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
So I think our listeners tested it for about four weeks before we had them review it. And that was up to 6 sciences discretion.
Sarah
Yeah. Like, they were confident that our listeners would see some sort of change in the four weeks, even though the claim is eight weeks.
Kirby
Yes. So the key benefits are that it's supposed to leave you looking contoured, like a sculpted neck and a very precise jawline that it helps visibly tighten and firm your neck. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles, crepiness, and skin slackening, which I think for me, the thing I noticed the most was a little bit of crepiness on my neck has gotten more smooth and more taut. And then it says that, you know, obviously it's a serum, it hydrates.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
And that they're big claims. 92% said their skin looked and felt more nourished. 90% saw increased firmness of the skin. 94% said their skin felt smoother. And then 90% said that they would use the product again. And this was a third party clinical study of 31 volunteers who used the product for eight weeks.
Sarah
So we were like, let's put our glams to the test.
Kirby
We're like, yeah, we'll see about that.
Sarah
Yeah, like, those were some big statements.
Kirby
Right. And truthfully, with stuff like this, we're like, right.
Sarah
Especially like, we just had that episode with Dr. Sam and she, you know, we were talking about, how can you really, you know, improve?
Kirby
Get rid of your.
Sarah
Get rid of your double chin.
Kirby
Yes. And we were like, you got to get lipo and surgery.
Sarah
However, let's read some of these user reviews. One glam Giuliano said, I saw results in as little as three weeks. My jawline looked more sculpted and it even helped with some of the acne scarring I had under my jawline, which was an added bonus. It seemed to also be starting to help with smoothing out wrinkles on my neck, although this might take a little longer to see intense results. I also love the formula. It applies so well and absorbs quickly and isn't sticky at all.
Kirby
I agree. I think that's one of the things that I really like about this serum. It's enjoyable to use. Like, I will consistently use it because it doesn't feel like a tacky, sticky thing.
Sarah
Totally. It absorbs quickly. You don't even like. It's. It's like you don't even think about it. You just, like, put it on and then you know it's done. You can go to sleep. Another person said, my neck and jawline appear more radiant, smooth and hydrated, as well as my decollete. This person said, I didn't see the results that the product claimed, but I really enjoyed using it. My neck seems more hydrated and firmer, and I enjoyed adding such a niche product to my current routine. I'm extra like that.
Kirby
Way to go. Okay. It says my neck and jawline are slowly improving. Less neck wrinkles and jawline appears to have lifted a bit. I feel like this is probably the more standard results after four weeks. You know, maybe not like a complete transformation, but like I'm starting to see improvement.
Sarah
Exactly.
Kirby
This person says I would call it a hero product despite it not being a miracle worker, as it did not get rid of my double chin. However, I definitely noticed a visible difference in my skin elasticity around my jawline and tech neck bands. I don't think the claim is that it'll get rid of your double chin.
Sarah
No, no, it's not.
Kirby
That's something that we try to teach people with this program.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
A lot of times when we're in the slack, I'll see people comment things and I'm like, that's on a claim.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
That's not what this product is claiming to do.
Sarah
Right.
Kirby
So it's really important that you understand what the claims are being made.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
We would not. You would not be getting rid of your double chin.
Sarah
Exactly. The skin elasticity being tighter, like that's definitely something that the serum has claiming that it can help with.
Kirby
And same with the tech neck bands. It says I've been grateful to have been able to try this product over the last month. My 10 year wedding anniversary is upcoming and it's given me a little extra boost of confidence for all that has changed Slash aged in those 10 years. How sweet.
Sarah
Notice changes within two weeks. My neck and jaw area are a lot more firm. Fine lines are less noticeable. This person said this product gave me actual results quickly. I loved the texture, the absorption, and the fact that I actually saw a significant difference in my jawline within days.
Kirby
And then this person says that most of the benefits they saw were under their chin, that there was a really great tightening effect and that their jaw looks more sculpted, but it's not as. As big of a change. And then just scrolling through these befores and afters, I'm kind of shook at how from underneath, like seeing some of the smoothness from like the chin to the under chin, the jawline specifically on Laura.
Sarah
Oh my gosh. Yeah.
Kirby
And I say this affectionately. These are not like 20 year old women. You know what I mean? Like, these are women that are actually looking for some changes to their faces. They're probably. I would say most of our group was millennials and some Gen X with some boomer as well. But I feel like that's how this should be tested.
Sarah
Yeah, totally.
Kirby
You know what I mean? Like, on people that can actually benefit from it.
Sarah
Yes. I mean, why else. Why would you waste your money if you were going to spend. How much is it? It's $58, which I actually think is a pretty fair price.
Kirby
I think it is a fair price. However, there's no perfect product. Right, right. So there were some complaints, mostly about the packaging. So if you are watching this, there is. I don't know if you're going to be able to see this. I'm going to describe it as best as I can. It looks like a pill.
Sarah
It does. It's very chic.
Kirby
It's very chic. It looks like a pill. You open it up and on one side there is a flat edge instead of it being totally circular. So what a lot of people have said is that when they were initially trying to put the lid on, they didn't know that, and so they were forcing it and then it cracked the lid.
Sarah
Oh.
Kirby
This happened to me when I first got this product last year. I've used this product for a year at this point. That's why we decided to move forward with it. And I did have that problem. I think that if there. If you look inside the lid, you can see there's like these little.
Sarah
It is an interesting choice, but I guess they did it because they wanted it to be like a full close.
Kirby
Yes. They don't want it to pop off, which completely makes sense. But I think it's a little.
Sarah
It's hard. Yeah.
Kirby
If maybe this front part showed that there was a flat edge.
Sarah
Exactly.
Kirby
Because it's a little deceiving.
Sarah
Yeah, it is deceiving.
Kirby
So a lot of people were complaining that their lid was broken. A lot of them wanted to travel with it and couldn't because they had a broken lid that wouldn't stay on. So that's just something to note and I think something that the brand could benefit from in the future. But, I mean, it really does, like, stays on.
Sarah
Yeah, for sure. Yeah. It's not gonna spill.
Kirby
Yeah.
Sarah
Love that. I. I'm really still just blown away by some of these before and afters.
Kirby
The before and afters are incredible.
Sarah
Like, it speaks for itself.
Kirby
I personally feel like when I am consistent with this product, I do see benefits from it. Like last year when I first started testing it, I think I tested it for three, three months. And when you're looking at yourself on a regular basis, you don't really notice, but then if you see pictures, you're like, oh, wait. Actually, my jawline is more taut than it used to be.
Sarah
Right.
Kirby
And then I ended up losing a little bit of weight. I tested a bunch of different other products and then I reincorporated this back into my routine a few months ago. And I really. I just think it's a really beautiful formula.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
I think it delivers and I think that people. It's like for 60 something dollars, right?
Sarah
$58. Yeah.
Kirby
Yeah.
Sarah
So I went to an event and got to meet Polene, who is one of the founders. She's. They're both geniuses, by the way.
Kirby
They're like, they actually are geniuses.
Sarah
They're actually geniuses because we had that zoom last year. Yeah. I'm like, wow, you guys are actual, like scientists. Anyways, I told her I wanted to slather it all over my body.
Kirby
Yeah. They need to make a body version.
Sarah
They do what? They do make a body one which I have not tried yet.
Kirby
You know what? Okay. I want to try that one. Because look, these butt dimples. I have butt dimples.
Sarah
Look at the improvement on the. Wow.
Kirby
This is the thing too about this brand that's kind of crazy to me is normally with a product like this, I'm like, it's a gimmick. It's like cellulite cream.
Sarah
Totally.
Kirby
You know what I mean? We're like, you're not getting rid of cellulite with a cream. But I don't know, like, I mean, it's clearly working for a lot of people. So I feel like.
Sarah
But I think too, it's like the claims are. It's fair. Like, it's not like they're saying, like, it's gonna get rid of your double. Right. Like it's saying, like, it's going to make your skin tighter and feel firmer, but it's not. Like it's smooth and smoother. But it's not saying that. It's going to like totally eliminate a layer of skin.
Kirby
Right. That would be putting the plastic surgery industry out of business completely.
Sarah
If there's anyone that could figure that out, it would be them, but they're not there yet. But they do have a body sculpting serum, which I need to get.
Kirby
Okay, we definitely have to try that.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
All right, so if you want to see more reviews from the glams, you can go to Six Sciences website and look up Shapeshift, the V Line Jaw defining serum. It's $58. And I believe that's the only place you can get it at this point is on their website.
Sarah
Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I'm so excited getting to see all of our reviews.
Kirby
The before and after reviews are so good.
Sarah
So good. Thank you. Sick science.
Kirby
Okay, there's some news, so let's just quickly and rapidly go through. And y'all, if you hear my dog shaking and sniffing and whatever, just, it's.
Sarah
I like it.
Kirby
It's.
Sarah
I like it.
Kirby
It's her world we just live in.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
All right.
Sarah
She's the guest today.
Kirby
You can tell us what you think about all of these headlines. Okay, Quinny, Big news regarding a retailer stopping service to the United States because of tariffs.
Sarah
We knew this was, we knew it was coming.
Kirby
Yeah. I don't know if I expected this, but it's kind of crazy that this is where it's gone.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
So Space NK is a very popular UK retailer. Naturium's there. So many brands that we love are there.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
And it says Space NK temporarily suspends US Orders amid Trump's tariff headache. The pause in shopping follows US President Donald Trump's quote, Liberation Day taxes in April 2025, which has sent global markets into turmoil. Apparently Space NK sent a message to US Based customers informing them of the situation. And it was confirmed to be true by the retailer in an email seen by cosmetics business. The email read, we are making some changes to how we serve US customers as we adapt to the latest US Tariff regulations. We have decided to pause E Commerce orders and shipping to the US to avoid additional or incorrect costs being applied to our customers orders. Thank you for understanding. And the retailer has not confirmed how long this is going to happen or will last.
Sarah
It's happening.
Kirby
It's, it's, it's happening. Um, the article goes on to say that Procter and Gamble said that they are, you know, they are warning of price hikes. So brands that you love that are usually considered affordable, like Head and Shoulders, Olay, so many other brands owned by P and G, they, they'll be.
Sarah
Become more expensive.
Kirby
Yeah, yeah. Which is kind of. I mean, everything is going to go up.
Sarah
Yeah. I have been talking to a lot of different, like, brand founders because obviously it's like the hot topic. I feel like every event we go to, we're like, so how are the tariffs treating you? And I feel like for the bigger companies, or I should say mid size, like they're in a good place because unfortunately they can eat up the cost themselves or, you know, they, they have the privilege of being able to do that is. Do they want to do that? No. But like they're trying to protect the customers. But like, how long can you do that for.
Kirby
Right, right, right.
Sarah
So I think, like. But everyone is stressed. That's like the bottom line. Because even if the. We've talked about this, but like, even if you are having your products made here, the ingredients are sourced here. 90% of the time the packaging is coming from China.
Kirby
Totally. So it kind of just.
Sarah
It's just. It's gonna affect everyone.
Kirby
Yeah.
Sarah
In some way.
Kirby
Totally.
Sarah
So it's, it's unfortunate that even like the head and shoulders, like, that's crazy to me.
Kirby
Right. I know. I mean, there's really nothing else to add except that this is a cluster of epic proportions. Anybody that thinks that it's gonna get worse before it gets better, it's gonna get worse and then even more worse. So just putting that out there, that's it. Hope y'all enjoy spending money and losing money. That's how that's gonna go. In other tariff news, did you see that Amazon has been displaying tariff costs or perhaps plans to.
Sarah
No, I haven't seen that.
Kirby
Ah, okay, so this is the summary. This is from Reuters. Amazon in White House crosshairs over report of displaying tariff costs. Reuters is reporting that Amazon said on Tuesday, which was last Tuesday, its low cost haul unit had considered listing import charges for goods in light of US Tariffs, but denied looking at such a plan for its main website after the White House accused it of a hostile political act. Friends, this is fascism. I just want to tell you, like we are this what we're living through, y'all. You can unsubscribe, you can go leave us a shitty review. I really don't care if this point, when you are censoring journalists, which is unheard of, people said horrendous fake things about Barack Obama during his eight year term.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
He never denied the press their ability or freedom to report. Even if it was truly fake news.
Sarah
Yeah. Like the most insane headlines.
Kirby
And I do not understand how we are continuing to just let this happen. I mean, 60 Minutes is in a huge. This is affecting so many different industries. 60 Minutes, their EP quit because essentially Sherry Redstone who owns CBS Paramount, asked them if they could please stop reporting on contentious Donald Trump news. Even if it's true.
Sarah
Oh my God.
Kirby
Because they have a merger that he has to approve. Hello?
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
When people are scared to say anything. When you see huge CEOs that have billions of dollars starting to cower and say, we would rather not say anything, essentially out of fear of what this passive aggressive president may do to us and may the problems he may cause for us because he's extremely litigious. That is something we should be very afraid of. If Joe Biden was doing this, I would be saying the exact same thing.
Sarah
100%.
Kirby
If Barack Obama was doing this, I'd say the exact same thing. If George Bush, God love him, was doing this, I would also say the exact same thing. We gotta open up our eyes.
Sarah
But they didn't. None of them did.
Kirby
None of them did. None of them did. None of them did.
Sarah
Because there's freedom of speech.
Kirby
There is freedom of speech. Even if a lot of it is truly. It boggles the mind. Yeah, it boggles the mind. Anyways. Yeah, I guess this is where we put. This is not a political podcast. This is where we enter that in. I don't know. I just.
Sarah
But it's affecting. It's affecting the bottom line. It's affecting everything. It doesn't matter.
Kirby
It affects every single person in this country. And if it actually isn't affecting you, you're not looking hard enough. Yeah. You're not looking hard enough. I mean, I don't understand it.
Sarah
And it's May. It's only May. Year one.
Kirby
Please do not say year one. Please, please. I can't be reminded of this. Anyways, Year one. Long story short, apparently Amazon is not doing that because the White House said it was a hostile political act. Because apparently they didn't do that when Joe Biden had his tariffs implemented.
Sarah
But, you know, Trump said he, Jeff Bezos solved the problem.
Kirby
Oh, did Jeff Bezos.
Sarah
He said Jeff Bezos was very nice. He was terrific. He solved the problem very quickly. He did the right thing.
Kirby
He's a good guy. Yeah. I wonder why. Jeff Bezos, you coward. Okay, what is one last thing? Sorry, I'm heated about that. But guess what? There was one thing I was not heated about, and it was the boy smells rebrand. Correct. I was not heated about this rebrand.
Sarah
Why is everyone so upset?
Kirby
Okay. People were very upset about this rebrand. Have you seen the before and after?
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
Speaking of before and after, this is a before and after show. Have you seen the before and after of their packaging?
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
Okay, what are your first thoughts when you see the before image and the after?
Sarah
I'm not mad at it. Like, I think that they were trying to be more unique with the packaging. Like, it feels a little bit more.
Kirby
I don't.
Sarah
I want to say it seems like more prestige to me.
Kirby
I agree.
Sarah
I feel like Boy Smiles was very ahead of the game. Right. And I feel like they needed just a new look, like a rebrand like every brand does every so often.
Kirby
Yes. So if you're not following what's going on, Boy smells. We've had one of the founders on the podcast before. This was an indie fragrance brand beloved by so many people. They called their products genderful fine fragrances. The two founders are gay men. They were very, like, forward about that. They weren't trying to hide that. Their old packaging was essentially a clear bottle with a tall black top.
Sarah
It was flat with a pink piece.
Kirby
Of paper on the front with the name of the product on it.
Sarah
Yeah. And it came out during, like, the glossier era of, like, the Millennial Pink and the very clean font. Like, it was very fitting of that time.
Kirby
Right now they're being sold in Sephora. They have this new packaging. It is, in my opinion, but also objectively stunning.
Sarah
Yes, it is.
Kirby
It is beautiful.
Sarah
I think it looks more luxury.
Kirby
It looks way more luxury. And in my humble opinion, makes them a real brand.
Sarah
It stands out from the other hundred of perfume brands that are available at Sephora.
Kirby
I agree, and I'm not trying to minimize them by saying the real brand thing, but when you see a customer bottle like this with the engraved logo and the shape is very like, this.
Sarah
Is their signature shape.
Kirby
Going forward to me, looking at this, I go, oh, they're going all in now. They're not putting a paper label on it.
Sarah
Right.
Kirby
They have some money. They're investing it back into the product. In fact, the product now is cheaper than it used to be. And a lot of people are upset because they took off genderful from the label because there's no pink label on there anymore. They. If you go to the website, a lot of people say that it sounds like it's written by AI in terms of what the perfumes smell like and that they used to be so, like, cheeky luxe. They used to be more like lux. It was like poetry reading it. And now it just feels like it's trying to cater to Gen Z. I see. There were some issues I heard but didn't see because I think they were updated by then in terms of grammar and certain things like that. So that's why people thought it was AI. But when I was reading the description of certain fragrances on their site versus what it used to be, Sephora was never going to put that much copy on their site.
Sarah
They can't.
Kirby
And also, it was like, it was such a beautiful, robust way of discussing fragrance. But when you're catering to a Sephora customer like that, they literally are just like, tell me what this smells like.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
So I was not mad by them changing that. I was just like, they're just trying to get to the point of what this smells like. In my humble opinion, yes. Like, people were literally mad. They're like, this is such a knock to the gay community. And oh, my God. Okay, granted, I, Sarah and I are not gay. We're straight women. CIS women. But I'm like, why are we mad that a company that has been doing so much good for the LGBTQIA community is finally getting their long awaited shine and flowers by being put into Sephora and you're mad about the complete rebrand, so now you don't want to support them when I think they may be. And I. Please do not quote me on this. I think they're the only fragrance brand there that has two gay founders at the helm.
Sarah
I'm sorry, I'm like reading.
Kirby
That's an independent brand that's not owned by a huge conglomerate.
Sarah
Right.
Kirby
So shouldn't we be trying to support them even more? Matthew Herman, one of the co founders who we previously had on the podcast, said that when they relaunched that they had their best selling week that they've had in four years, and that the products now perform better, they last longer, they're less expensive, and they're still gay. And I'm like, yeah.
Sarah
Is that what he said?
Kirby
Yes. I'm like, I mean, the product's not gay, but, like, the brand is still being run by two gay men.
Sarah
Yeah. I'm reading these comments on a Reddit thread and someone said, anyone else feel like these bottle designs are distinctly feminine? No. No, I don't.
Kirby
I do not. If anything, I felt that the original bottle design was more feminine with the long top hat.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
For the lid and the pink label. To me, it looks so much more feminine even though the lid was black.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
I feel like these boy smells. Some people have said that they don't smell the same. I can't speak to that because I haven't tried the reformulations. And I love Cowboy Kush. That's like one of my favorite fragrances of theirs. I wasn't obsessed with some of theirs. Like, some of their fan favorites, like, Less are not in the new brand because they're still working on them. So I was reading that that is coming back, but, like, it's not currently back.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
But I'm like, that was. That's often my biggest complaint with independent brands, especially with fragrance. They don't last as long.
Sarah
Right.
Kirby
So if you're telling me that now.
Sarah
They'Re gonna last longer, perform better.
Kirby
The packaging is more beautiful and it's more accessible. It's more accessible because it's at a Sephora and more people are going to learn about this brand in which they can continue to talk about their values.
Sarah
It's more affordable. I don't know why people are so bad. People just hate change. People truly just hate change.
Kirby
A lot of people are upset with this, which I just truly, for me, I'm like, I can't get. I think I literally saw this and I go, oh, I actually want these bottles now, right?
Sarah
And like, it's to think of them like all lined up together, like you collect them all. They look so pretty. I'm like, just trying to think of the fact that this person thinks that this bottle is more feminine when I'm like, do you want your cologne to be. There's this article on New York Times and it says the new men's fragrances aggressively packaged. And like one of them is in the literal shape of a grenade.
Kirby
No.
Sarah
And then this other one is. Has like studs on it. I'm like, is that what they need to do to impress you?
Kirby
So this is. Can I just read something real quick off of Boy Smells website? Like, this is their fragrance, Rosy Cheeks. I think this is freaking gorgeous. Okay. This bottle is so beautiful. On the site. It's new. It says it's a new fragrance. It smells like pomegranate roses and sandalwood and it feels like a bite of perfectly ripe fruit. If you go to the tell me more section, it's way shorter than it used to be. And it says this fruity floral scent opens with a juicy hit of cassis and pomegranate balanced by soft rose, vanilla orchid and creamy sandalwood.
Sarah
It.
Kirby
It's bright, smooth, and it's just the right amount of extra sweet without being shy. Stays up with you day or night, no questions asked. And it says that it's newly formulated for bigger smells and longer wear and that you can spread your magic anytime, anywhere. It goes through the scent notes, top, mid and base. It goes through the ingredients. It includes alcohol. Thank you, Lord Jesus, because that means it's gonna last a little bit longer. And then it talks about the bottle. It says we added a glossy, colorful touch to our classic Boy Smells pink glass. Not only is the duality of the vessel fully on dis with the updated two tone design, but each boasts a color giving cues to the olfactive smell experience. No big lids allowed. Bright magenta is giving sun kissed cheeks There's a reason why they did all of this. And I'm like, it's all laid out. It's all laid out. And I don't look at this brand. I, I, I don't go, I, I think about the original Boy Smells website and I'm like, I get on that site and I go, gay. It's gay. Yeah, everything's gay. It's all gay here. I knew this was gay just from coming on here. I looked at this bottle and it says genderful.
Sarah
Oh, that means gay.
Kirby
Yeah, everything's gay. It's like, no, I just think that we're losing the plot. We're cutting our nose to spite our face when we're going to punish this brand essentially for not keeping genderful on the label.
Sarah
Right.
Kirby
Or like keeping the, the pink paper label or like taking down like the founder story, which I was like, did they take it down? And then I look, it says, now it just says about boy smells 2.0. From the team that brought you Paupers inspired Sit Rush, the cult favorite, Slow Burn, which is truly my favorite. And the queen of Melrose herself. Boy Smells is a queer owned and operated fragrance house based in Los Angeles.
Sarah
Sounds gay to me. Cool.
Kirby
Sounds gay. That sounds gay.
Sarah
I just feel like so many consumers don't understand, like, how much work it takes to. They probably spent I don't even know how much money on this rebrand. And then to also bring your product into a retailer and to make sure that the personality, your, you know, the brand personality is still there. That it's, you know, the packaging is what you want it to be like, there's just so much thought. And then for them to just shit on it like this, it's so upsetting.
Kirby
I know.
Sarah
I feel so bad for them.
Kirby
I feel bad for them because I'm like, I think this is 100% better.
Sarah
Oh, I think it's so fun. And if they need to attract a younger audience, this is how they're gonna do it.
Kirby
Every single one of your favorite brands is doing something like this in some regard. Theirs obviously just came along with a huge overhaul. But it's not like they were like, okay, bye, we're getting rid of the founders. There's gonna be no terms at all about who the founders are. The description thing really kills me too. Cause I'm just like, so they edited themselves and they made it concise. Something I struggle with on a regular basis. Like, good for them.
Sarah
Also, the new candles are really pretty.
Kirby
I think they're beautiful.
Sarah
I truly, I would rather have this one than their old candle.
Kirby
I agree. Because it's.
Sarah
It.
Kirby
I don't know. Can you help me describe this? It's not that I think they now look more like a real brand, but it's like.
Sarah
No, it's just when you get a vessel with a paper label, I mean, everyone does that. Everyone does that Now. This is truly, like. It's their signature, right? The shape, the design, the packaging. So that years from now, when you are gifted this or when you see it in a Sephora, you're like, oh, that's the voicemails. That's voicemails.
Kirby
Also, I would be more inclined to want to save one of these bottles or candle vessels than the old ones.
Sarah
Also, every candle brand copied their old candle.
Kirby
Yep.
Sarah
Every. Everyone did. So obviously they need to reinvent and change. And it looks really pretty. It looks luxe.
Kirby
I think it looks beautiful. And then I started thinking, I'm so crazy. No, I'm like, no. I think I'm like, have I lost it? Is this. What is ugly now? People hate this.
Sarah
This is so pretty.
Kirby
No, I'm telling you, Passion Pit is gorgeous.
Sarah
I love the color. I like that. It's. What is that embossed? Is that what you would say?
Kirby
Is that. What is the opposite of embossed?
Sarah
Engraved?
Kirby
No, it's. Cause it's risen.
Sarah
Yeah.
Kirby
It's not in, it's out. Someone's listening to this, screaming at the top of their lungs about what that is. But it's so pretty. Cowboy Kush. I mean, they even have the paper label. Is that a paper label?
Sarah
That's what cobbish embossed is in. Yeah. What's the opposite of embossed?
Kirby
I don't know, but, I mean, I still think it looks better. And you have. That boy smells whatever the opposite of debossed is. Debossed. You have. It was right there.
Sarah
Is that right? I think it's embossed. Like, embossed is up and debossed is down, right?
Kirby
Oh, yeah. I think it's a. Maybe I had it wrong. I had it wrong. I had them flipped.
Sarah
Thanks for being on this journey with us, you guys.
Kirby
Anyways, I would love to know what y'all think of the Boy Smells rebrand. I personally think it's freaking great.
Sarah
Like, maybe we're just elderly millennials, but I think it's really cute.
Kirby
And, like, listen, I guess I have to just beat a dead horse here, and I know that I apparently should not be saying that either, but if it was truly doing something to demean the LGBTQIA community. I could obviously understand that. I just think it's a disservice to go after Boy Smells, which has been doing good for the community for so long, given the state of our country right now.
Sarah
Yes.
Kirby
Like, they need all the support we can get.
Sarah
Right.
Kirby
And it doesn't look like they're trying to get rid of their identity at all. Like, their identity still stands. So that's where I'm coming from.
Sarah
It's more fun to me. Like, it looks more luxe. It looks more fun. I like the colors.
Kirby
It looks more expensive.
Sarah
It looks more expensive.
Kirby
That's my experience.
Sarah
And then it's not more expensive, so that's even better.
Kirby
So anyways, I don't know. Shout out to Boy Smells. I liked it. I liked it. I liked it.
Sarah
I want it.
Kirby
But I want to know what you guys think.
Sarah
We're gonna go buy one after this.
Kirby
Yeah, we gotta go support.

Transitioning from celebrity insights, Kirbie and Sara introduce Six Science's latest innovation—the Shapeshift V Line Jaw Defining Serum. Both hosts share their personal experiences and listener feedback after a four-week trial period.
The serum is acclaimed for its ability to sculpt the jawline and tighten the neck by targeting lipid droplets at a molecular level. The hosts highlight impressive user testimonials, with many noting visible improvements in skin firmness, smoothness, and hydration.
Despite its high claims, such as reducing wrinkles and enhancing skin elasticity, some users express moderate results, aligning with the product's eight-week effectiveness window. The hosts emphasize the importance of understanding product claims to set realistic expectations.
The serum is priced reasonably at $58, and while some minor packaging issues are noted—such as the lid design causing breakages—the overall consensus remains positive. The duo encourages listeners to explore Six Science's offerings, including upcoming body sculpting serums.

The hosts express concern over the broader implications of tariffs, noting that even mainstream brands like Procter & Gamble are warning of upcoming price hikes on popular products such as Head & Shoulders and Olay.
They also touch on Amazon's controversial stance regarding tariff disclosures, critiquing the company's response to political pressures and comparing it unfavorably to past administrations' handling of press freedoms.
The hosts lament the broader economic instability introduced by these tariffs, emphasizing the widespread impact across various sectors and the potential for escalating challenges in the beauty industry.

In the latter half of the episode, Kirbie and Sara delve into the Boy Smells fragrance brand's recent rebranding efforts. They analyze the transformation from a boutique, queer-owned label to a more mainstream presence at Sephora, examining both the aesthetic and strategic shifts.
The rebrand includes redesigned packaging that exudes a more luxurious and polished look, moving away from the original genderful, clear bottles adorned with paper labels. While some consumers express dissatisfaction—perceiving the changes as a departure from the brand's queer roots—the hosts defend the evolution as a necessary step for broader accessibility and market appeal.
Despite mixed reactions, the hosts applaud the brand's efforts to enhance product performance, affordability, and shelf presence. They argue that the rebrand maintains the company's identity and continues to support the LGBTQIA community, even as it attracts a younger, more diverse consumer base.
