Hello, everybody. I hope you're doing well today. As many of you know, we actually covered the case of Shade Robinson a while back when this horrific crime happened. But the trial just finished a couple weeks ago and answers came to this case. So we completely re researched this one from the top to bring you everything and the latest because it also feels like there's not nearly enough people that know Shade's name, not nearly enough people talking about this case. So redoing it just felt like the right move.
A
Oh, absolutely. And we really have a very different perspective now than we did when we originally covered this because so much more has come out in a verdict was reached with her killer. So we're definitely going to be coming at this with a whole new lens, which is something that we've never done on Going West Before.
B
Yeah, we actually watched a lot of the trial and just got so much more perspective. Like we're saying a lot more has been released to give clarity on a lot of situations. It's just absolutely wild what has been released. So without further ado, let's just dive right into this one.
A
Alright guys, this is episode 517 of Going West. So let's get into it.
B
In April of 2024, a 19 year old student vanished after heading out for a promising first date in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. But hours later, her torched car was found in another part of the city. And later that day, dismembered body parts began popping up along the coastline. Although security footage and phone pings helped the case against their surprising suspect, blood evidence and disturbing images on his phone garnered answers in the recent June 2025 trial. This. This is the story of Sade Robinson. Sade Robinson was born on May 10, 2004 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, which is right along the border of Louisiana. Her parents in Sheena Scarborough and Carlos Robinson, split up when Sade was still young. But she maintained thriving relationships with both parents throughout her life. And her mom, Sheena, says that they were very loving and amicable co parents. But when Sade was a toddler, she and Sheena relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin while Carlo stayed back in Mississippi. Though Sade would head back frequently to visit her dad. And then later her dad, Carlos actually moved to Cape Coral, Florida. And Sade really enjoyed kind of dividing her time between the Midwest and the south, though of course she did primarily live right there in Milwaukee. Now, Sheena was enormously proud of her daughter's bright, bubbly nature and hardworking spirit, saying, quote, my baby was a boss and she overcame every hurdle and barrier that came her way. She was undefeatable. And Carlos echoed this sentiment, saying that Sade gave him purpose. He remembered, quote, I watched her grow from a tiny little baby to a beautiful, intelligent young lady that would make any father proud. Anybody that knew me knew my daughter. They knew she was my center, she was my motivation. And Sheena claimed that Sade's magnetic personality really drew people in wherever she went, saying, quote, a lot of people were attracted to her. She was a very beautiful young lady. But you know, of course sometimes this meant that she drew attention from the wrong kind of person. Of course, at no fault of her own, it's not her fault. She's so amazing. But that is exactly what happened in today's story. But first, before we get into that, Sade graduated high school a semester early, bound for College and eventually hoped to enroll in the Air force. In early 2024, 19 year old Sade was very close to finishing her Associate of Arts degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College. And to celebrate her graduation, her mom was planning on taking her to Hawaii.
A
Sounds like a great graduation trip.
B
Yeah. And just shows how supportive her mom is, is and how great their relationship was, is they were gonna take this really great trip together. Her mom was so proud of her, you know, so things were really exciting for her in early 2024, which makes it that much more devastating to dive into her tragic and horrific end that came during that same time.
A
Well, to tell you guys a little bit more about Sade, in addition to her studies, she was balancing two part time jobs and was completely financially independent. She was waiting tables at a restaurant called Pizza Shuttle in East Milwaukee where her manager, Justin Romano described her as the face of the company. A co worker of hers named Winston Milhans added that everyone looked forward to working with Sade, describing her as a, quote, person that is a perfect example of who you want to be. Like, her traits were remarkable. Like she was known to bring pizza out to those in the neighborhood who were homeless and she just really wanted to give back to the people. And on top of working at this restaurant, Sade worked at the exclusive Wisconsin Club, which is a private social and dining club. And she was also able to secure a job there for her little sister, Adrianna. Now, the day before Sade disappeared was Easter Sunday and her whole family gathered to celebrate at her grandma's house the following morning, which was Monday, April 1, 2024. She chatted with her mom Sheena on FaceTime, which is something that she pretty much did nearly every day. So after work that day, 19 year old Sade had a promising first date, which she had been so excited for that she told a maintenance worker at her apartment building about it on her way out, which is so cute.
B
Like everything's going so well for her and now she has this date with this guy and she wants to tell anybody who will listen.
A
Yeah, I mean, truly she had everything going for her. Like in just a month from that day, she would graduate from college with her associate degree and turn 20 on that same day. But on the morning of Tuesday, April 2, 2024, Sade missed her shift at Pizza Shuttle and didn't let her coworkers know that she would be calling out, which is obviously something that she had never done before. She was very responsible. So coworkers attempted to reach her to no avail. Through multiple calls and Texts. Meanwhile, her family and friends had also noticed that she wasn't getting back to them. Now, her most recent post on social media was a Snapchat picture from the evening prior at Duke's on Water, which is this sports bar that's located on Water street and Juneau Avenue in downtown Milwaukee. So just three blocks from the Milwaukee River.
B
So Sheena, who again spoke with her daughter multiple times a day, every single day, hadn't heard from her either. Now, she and her daughters use the Life 360 app. I'm sure a lot of you guys know what that is. It's a way to track people that are in your life. Yeah.
A
Your friends, your loved ones.
B
If you're not going to use the Find My app on your iPhone. So they all had this for each other. You know, Sheena and her daughters tracked each other, so they always had each other's whereabouts for safety. But Sade's app hadn't been updated since. Since 4:33am that morning, placing her in a lakefront park south of downtown Milwaukee. By 9pm that evening, a friend of Sade's had reported her missing. So about 24 hours since her last post on Snapchat, because they just knew something was wrong, like, especially with her last location Update being at 4:33am at a lakefront park like it was. That's very eerie.
A
Yeah, that's definitely not a regular place that shot A would be at 4:33am Absolutely not.
B
So a welfare check was carried out at her apartment, but it was locked and it showed no signs of disturbance. So it really seemed like after she left for her date that she had not come back. There was no signs. Right. That she or she and her date had returned to her apartment.
A
Right.
B
However, soon after her missing persons report was filed, identification was made on a vehicle that had been found engulfed in flames that same morning, which obviously made tracing it back to its owner a very difficult feat due to the extent of the damage. So here's what happened. At 7:32am on the morning of April 2, 2024. So about 10 hours after Sade's last social media post, the Milwaukee Fire Department responded to a call about a vehicle in flames near the intersection of North 29th street and West Lisbon Avenue in West Milwaukee. This car was determined to be a 2020 Honda Civic. But by the time the fire was extinguished, the car's interior had been absolutely decimated. And suspiciously, the fire was quickly determined to be a case of arson when detectives found that the perpetrator had used a highly Flammable petroleum distillate to set the car ablaze.
A
So a woman named Patricia Powell, who lived on an adjacent block, remembered looking out the back window of her home as the car erupted in flames. So she actually saw this happen, and she called 911 as she heard the airbags explode and the car alarm go off in the exact vicinity of the vehicle. There were a bunch of sites for illegal dumping. So the person who left the car there seemed to know exactly what they were doing. Patricia said it looked like somebody had started it. Nothing else was smoking outside the car, so it started on the inside. This 2020 Honda Civic was burned to a crisp. So there were obviously few pieces of evidence that would link the Civic back to its owner. Like Daphne said. However, in the trunk, law enforcement was able to remove a pair of distressed jeans, a black puffer coat, a white pair of shoes, a white shirt, and also a purse. So an entire outfit. And this was later determined to be the clothing that Sade had worn on her date the night prior.
B
And we do have a security image of her outside of one of the bars that she went to that night. We will post. So you guys can see her wearing this outfit, but, yeah, this is what she was wearing.
A
And then on top of that, the vehicle identification number, or the vin, was eventually matched to Sade Robinson, meaning that this was her car that was purposefully.
B
Set on fire and she is missing.
A
Well, shortly after her missing persons report was filed, the police turned up on the doorstep of her mom Sheena's house to report that her daughter's car had been found, and in a very concerning state. So this was not at all a good sign for Sade. But based on the fact that there were no human remains found inside the car, detectives were still hoping to find her alive, even though they also found Sade's smashed iPhone. So that's obviously not good either. But now they know that she's missing under suspicious circumstances, and they have to act fast to either save her life or to find out who potentially killed her.
B
But later that day, a pedestrian in a park, the very same park in which Sade's phone last pinged, made an absolutely horrifying discovery. So at 5:29pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, nearly 24 hours since anybody had heard from Sade. So, you know, a few hours before she was reported missing, a resident was strolling through Warnamont park, which is about 8 miles or 13 kilometers south of Milwaukee, located in Cudahay, Wisconsin, along the banks of Lake Michigan. And while Walking near a stretch of steep cliffs that drop off directly into the water, the pedestrian noticed what appeared to be a human leg about 100ft down the cliff. So very disturbed by this site that, you know, nobody has reason to see that.
A
Yeah, I mean, anybody would be absolutely freaked out.
B
Yeah. And this is April. This isn't near Halloween time. So obviously your initial thought has to be, is that a real human leg? So the. This park goer called the police, who investigated it more closely. Now, the leg, which was complete with pink painted toenails, belonged to a black female who they believe stood about five feet tall. And though it would take the Milwaukee Police Department about two weeks to publicly confirm, you know, the identity of the leg, they did determine that it belonged to Sade Robinson. And since her family had heard about this when it was found and they knew the circumstances, the pink toenails, that it belonged to a black female, they obviously feared the worst.
A
I mean, yeah, it's horrifying to hear about that on the news in the first place, but then also connecting it to possibly your missing family member just makes it so much worse.
B
Yeah. And so when they found out that it was her, now they're like, where is the rest of her and what the hell happened to her? Who did this? Like, so many questions come along with this unreal discovery. And then, of course, for everybody else, this was such big news in the area. A human leg was found in this city. I'm sure many people wondered if there was a killer on the loose. You know, that's naturally what comes to your mind.
A
Well, when we do get into the perpetrator of this crime, we're gonna talk about how there could be links to other, other scenarios.
B
Oh, yeah. So like I'm saying, police, they're trying to locate the rest of Sade's body now that they know it's her. And of course, trying to figure out who would carry out such a vile act against her. Because again, everybody loved Sade. She was truly an amazing person. It did not make sense why somebody would want to do this to her. And thankfully, her assailant left behind a sloppy trail of evidence which spanned two states.
A
Yeah, I mean, this guy was a major idiot, but let's first talk about this guy. So Shadi Robinson is believed to have met 33 year old Maxwell Anderson at Victor's nightclub, which Sade and her coworkers were known to frequent. When exactly they met for the first time is still kind of unknown.
B
And I do want to say he actually used to be a bartender At Victor's. So if this was a place, I mean, like you're saying this was a place that she went frequently, it is.
A
Possible that's how they met.
B
Yeah, that they met earlier while he was bartending, you know, and this is just a nightclub she really liked to go to. And they met that way.
A
Well, Sade's cousin Kiki later said that Sade and some friends had actually headed out to Victor's on the evening of Easter after attending that family gathering that I talked about earlier. So the night before Sade's murder, Kiki explained, quote, another one of my family members reached out stating that they were at the bar with her. Easter March 31, at Victor's. They were having drinks. They seen her with this man who's described as the demon, who we call him Maxwell. And it seems like that night at the club is when they planned a date for the following day. Because on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 4:15pm Sade texted Maxwell saying, where are we meeting? I can do five. Maxwell responded, hmm, downtown somewhere. And then suggested brought house on third. Sade agreed and Maxwell sent back, okay, I'm gonna shower quick. I'll probably get there around 5:15. Are you hungry? I need to stop at Twisted Fisherman to pick up my W2 from last year and we could eat there first. Sade replied, okay, and yes. Are we eating at Braughaus or the other place? Maxwell then responded, let's eat it Twisted. I'm feeling seafood. Sade agreed, saying, yes, I love seafood. Then Maxwell texted back, sounds good. I'm about to leave. I'll be there soon.
B
And this looks like a pretty cute little place to go. It's described on Google as relaxed Riverside eatery serving crab and other seafood fare plus tropical drinks. It's very like, you know, it's called Twisted Fisherman and it has that very.
A
Like coastal kind of vibe that's very heath coated.
B
Yeah, I think you would like this place. So, you know, good, good little spot for a date. Before heading to another bar, they had what was supposed to be a fun.
A
Night ahead of them, but obviously it would not end up as a fun night. While their last text exchange took place at 5:18pm When Sade arrived and confirmed that Maxwell was already inside the restaurant. Per security footage, the two sat at the bar at Twisted Fisherman restaurant in Southwest Milwaukee ordering dinner and drinks. Now, detectives later spoke with the bartender who confirmed that the two seemed to be kind of hitting it off. Remember, Sade was really excited about this date. At 6:30pm, 19 year old Sade and 33 year old Maxwell headed out for their second stop. Dukes on Water again. That's that sports bar that I talked about earlier, which is where Sade sent her last Snapchat. And guess what? She drove them there in her Honda Civic, the one that was later found engulfed in flames. Then they were captured on camera leaving the bar at 9:06pm and according to neighborhood surveillance footage, they arrived at his house in Sade's car 18 minutes later at 9:24pm And Sade's Life 360 app also places her there at this time. And by the way, the only thing that we really know that happened during their time in Maxwell's house was that at some point the Netflix show Love, Death and Robots was put on his tv. And in the final episode of volume two of this animated series, a corpse is apparently dismembered on a beach. Though we have not watched it yet.
B
Yeah, not my kind of show.
A
Don't know if I'm gonna watch it.
B
I'm sure he put this on. I cannot see her putting this on. So, you know, maybe they watched it together. Maybe he just put it on because he wanted to watch it. Like we can't be sure.
A
Well, just based on everything we know about Maxwell and everything that you guys are about to learn about Maxwell, this very much seems like it's up his alley.
B
Yeah, totally. And we are gonna post the street view for anybody who wants to see. But his house is a suburban house on the south side of Milwaukee that he had owned since October of 2018. So like five and a half years by this point. It is a three bed, two bath house, 1900 square feet, surrounded by other houses. Again, suburban neighborhood. So although Sade stopped communicating via her phone following her final post on Snapchat. And when I say post, I mean she sent a picture to a friend of mine, her playing beer pong with Maxwell. They're playing this game at the bar. Her phone continued to move around the city for hours after she was believed to have been killed. So at 12:48am on April 2, Sade's phone and her car, as seen on neighbors security footage, exits Maxwell's neighborhood on the south side of Milwaukee and travels up through downtown, back where they had dinner at the twisted fisherman. At 1:33am her phone was in Pleasant Valley park, which is just north of downtown Milwaukee. And 30 minutes later, her phone leaves the area and heads south to Warnamont Park. At 2:53am security cameras outside of Cudahy High School capture Sade's car driving by on its way to Warnamont Park. At 3:02am, an indistinguishable figure can be seen descending the steep cliffs that lead down into Lake Michigan. Remember, this is where her leg was later found. The locked gate in front of the service road leading to the pump house near where Sade's leg was found sustained damage that night. So it actually appeared that a vehicle had struck it trying to break down the gates. At 4:31am that morning, Sade's car exited Warnamont park and minutes later her phone finally died or was shut off. Maxwell Anderson's movement and whereabouts for the next three hours are unknown. And it's part of the big mystery of where some of her body parts still are. Because it wasn't until 7:29am when he was spotted again fleeing the scene of Sade's abandoned vehicle, which was by then engulfed in flames.
A
So really, I mean, they caught him red handed leaving the scene of arson. Yeah.
B
And then he was spotted again on security footage on a Milwaukee County Transit system bus where he can be seen wearing a gray hoodie and a tan backpack. His face is right there. You, you know, it's like, oh, because you abandoned her vehicle and set it on fire so now you need a ride home.
A
Yeah, now you gotta take the bus. Exactly. And we are gonna post that photo on our social so you guys can see it.
B
Yes, absolutely. You can see his face clear as day. And I do want to say as well, he did have a car. So I don't know why he. Maybe because he knew he'd be drinking as we're gonna get into. He was a heavy drinker. It's probably why he took the bus.
A
Well also on top of that he, you know, he had to get rid of shot his car because if shot his car was at his house, I mean it's, it's going to link it.
B
Sorry.
A
Right to him.
B
I'm so sorry. I mean before, because you know how Shade dropped or took both of them to his house that night.
A
Oh yeah, because she drove during the date.
B
So. Yeah, like during this entire time, him disposing, I'll just say it right now, disposing of her body that night and going on that date, it didn't seem like he had his car. But just in case anybody's wondering, he did have one. So he exited the bus near his house and arrived back at his house at 8.43am he was out all freaking night. And that morning. This part pisses me off. He texted Sade saying, morning, how's work going?
A
Oh, you little vile piece of shit.
B
Yeah, like he's trying to act like, oh, yeah, we went on a date and then she left and I don't know where he's like, this is him continuing to try to cover his tracks.
A
Exactly.
B
But 33 year old Maxwell Anderson was arrested just days later. Two days later on Thursday, April 4, 2024, after being pulled over for a routine traffic stop following a police officer running his plates. Because they were looking for this guy, they knew that he and Sade had been out that night. This is an ad by BetterHelp. Guys. A
So my going west friends, let's talk about this massive asshole, Maxwell Anderson.
B
Asshole?
A
Yeah, it's a new one. So anyway, he's the only child of the president of an insurance company whose name is Steven Anderson and he owns Anderson's Insurance Associates in New Berlin, Wisconsin as well as Insurance Associates of America. So as you guys can probably guess, the Anderson family is affluent and prominent in the Milwaukee area and they own multiple residences both in and out of Wisconsin. So this earned Maxwell the moniker of the Nepo Baby Killer in the media. Allegedly Maxwell was hired by one of his father's insurance companies, but even then he just could not hold down a.
B
Job even when it's handed to ya.
A
So he worked a string of part time bartending jobs and lived in southwest Milwaukee in a home that was of course purchased for him by his parents. Like Daphne said, since 2018.
B
Yeah, and like I said, he had worked previously at Victor's. Obviously we know he worked at the twisted Fisherman. If he was picking up his W2, he hopped around to a lot of different bars because he really couldn't keep a job.
A
Yeah, he was just hard to work with and also an alcoholic. So Maxwell has been described by those who know him as immature, with an erratic mood and temper, and he's believed to have a pretty heavy drinking problem that he either doesn't acknowledge or did not treat. He was also known to drink heavily on the job while he was bartending as well. So no big surprise that he had two arrests for drunk driving incidents. But before his arrest, Maxwell already had a lengthy criminal record, Including a few fairly serious charges. In July of 2014, while staying with extended family in Boulder, Colorado, his relatives arrived home to find that Maxwell was sweating profusely and exhibiting paranoid behavior. He refused to speak to anyone, and the situation quickly escalated into him screaming and throwing things, and he would have been about 23 years old at this time. He even locked his relative in a room. So police were called and Maxwell fled in his relative's car, which he immediately crashed into the patio of the home. So he didn't get very far. And Maxwell initiated a physical altercation with another family member and broke this family member's ribs, While he himself wound up with a broken collarbone. In October of 2014, he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, Domestic abuse, intimidating a witness, and criminal damage of property. But for these, he was given a relatively light sentence though, and was merely placed on probation and required to pay restitution to the victims. So, aka his own family in June of 2015.
B
So less than a year later, Maxwell was staying in the basement of the home of another extended family member in the coastal vacation town of Egg harbor, Wisconsin. But his relatives soon realized their mistake of letting him stay there when they found out that Maxwell was sloppy, inconsiderate, and disrespectful. And he also kept very odd hours. And he basically just left a mess wherever he went. He's not a good roommate.
A
Yeah, he's a slob. And it's so crazy because, like, when you look at his photo, he looks like he would be like that. Don't you think? He looks like he would just be. He's very tall and big. He just looks like a dick.
B
But the family wanted to kind of help him out. So they're letting him stay there for a little bit. But. But one of his family members at one point kind of gently suggested that he should probably get some care for his mental health. You know, they're. They're seeing him exhibit these concerning signs, and they're saying, hey, buddy, like, we think that you should get help.
A
Yeah, he's declining in real time, and they're noticing that, you know, these little patterns that he's leaving a mess and all these other things. So they're like, yeah, you should probably figure this out.
B
And also, just his behavior, like, overall, like you're saying, it's just. It's not good. It's not a good situation. But obviously, that's a really hard thing to bring up, especially to somebody who does need that kind of help.
A
Yeah, that's why they did it so gently.
B
Yeah. But no matter how gentle they were, Maxwell was not happy to hear it. So he had this violent outburst, and he basically shattered a glass. He punched a hole through the wall, and then he smashed both cell phones of the family members in the room with him. So they were forced to run from the home. They went to a neighbor's house to call the police. And this time, Maxwell was charged with disorderly conduct, domestic abuse, two counts of criminal damage to property, and intimidating a witness. But again, he only received probation. Then a few years later, A little over four years later, in September of 2019, Maxwell got into a verbal altercation, or, sorry, altercation with a woman on a public sidewalk. And he's fighting with this woman in public in Milwaukee, and a man witnesses this. Obviously, he's like, hey, are you good, lady? Because this man is yelling at her. So he's just trying to help the woman.
A
Yeah. So he steps in, you know, saying like, hey, you know, is what's going.
B
On here, as any good Samaritan would. And guess what Maxwell did? He took it out on the man. He assaulted this man by pummeling him to the ground and punching him. So for this, Maxwell was charged with battery and disorderly conduct, but the charge for battery was dismissed for whatever reason. So now that you know a little bit more about him and his history, let's get back to Sade's murder. During the search of Maxwell's home after his arrest, which again, came only two days after, or actually less than two days after she was reported missing, many items were removed from his home, including ammunition for a.22 caliber gun, swabs of multiple blood stains from the bathtub, an axe, and 50 knives, including a custom knife. Okay.
A
I mean, that's cool. I guess he's a knife collector. But, I mean, 50 knives is a lot of knives, especially for this psycho.
B
And when you pull it with the axe and the gun and all the blood stains in the bath that were.
A
Just right there, it's very alarming.
B
This is really scary. But, Yeah, I mean, 50 knives is a fucking lot of knives. And it's actually really disturbing because the source of the blood stains throughout his house, by the way, it's not just in the bathroom. Have still not been identified, but did not belong to Sade, which we discussed in our original episode on this case. You know, we wonder very much if he has other victims. Heath hinted to that in the beginning as well.
A
Yeah, the reason why I said that is because he exhibits these, you know, traits of possibly being a serial killer.
B
You're absolutely right, because he does have this very concerning behavior. So when you couple that with the weapons and the blood, that's concerning on its face. But there's even more because also recovered in his home were multiple pieces of women's jewelry, a notebook with the names and phone numbers of many women. Okay, fine. Maybe he has. What are they freaking called?
A
A little. I don't know, what are they called?
B
Contact book.
A
Contact book, address book, Address book. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
B
So, okay, maybe that one's not super concerning, but he also had a woman's identification card. We have no idea what came of this. We don't know this woman's name, if she is alive. I wonder about that so much. And also in his house was various items of women's clothing, which was hidden behind support beams in the basement.
A
Yeah. So why are you hiding women's clothing in support beams in the basement?
B
And an identification card and this notebook with the names and the phone numbers and the jewelry. Like, it's weird to have as a single man to have all that stuff in your house anyway, but to be hiding it in your basement. What the hell?
A
So, yeah, I do not make that statement lightly. You know, like the fact that he could be a serial killer.
B
No, he absolutely could be. And I. Honestly, he. I would be surprised if he wasn't. Also, by the way, there was blood found in one of the bedrooms as well as on the walls leading down to the basement. Like, it was a true horror scene.
A
And let's go down to that basement, because in the basement of his home, he had what he described as a sex dungeon. In it, there were handcuffs, restraints, and a sex swing. Now, obviously, that's Not a strange thing for some people to have. You know, of course, like, you can have whatever you want, but this guy in particular, having those things. Very concerning.
B
I agree.
A
And also in the basement was a tool bench, complete with drills and a range of heavy metal tools.
B
It was actually such a mess down there. Like, this is not a sexy sex dungeon. Like, there's a bed. There's like this weird. It almost looks like a moving blanket. I'm gonna post a picture. A moving blanket here, Heath. I'm gonna show you why I'm saying this. Hanging in front of the bed. Like, you see that? Is that. Would you say that's like a moving blanket?
A
Yeah, yeah. It's just a heavy blanket.
B
Like a. It's almost like a. Maybe that's a curtain. A curtain in front of the bed. There's a bunch of dog kennels. Like, you see, this is one dog kennel, and that's another one right there. Oh, yeah, there's like two bags of dog food, you know, laundry machines. But how creepy does this look with this curtain and then the bed behind it? We can't. There's no photos of like the sex swing and the sex dungeony type stuff, but this place is a mess. This is actually the other angle of it. This is the tool bench. There's like a punching bag. Like, this is a mess.
A
Yeah, yeah. It looks kind of like a hoarder basement, essentially, but, you know, definitely not a place that I'm assuming any woman probably wants to get intimate with someone.
B
Yeah, I don't understand this at all.
A
Well, let's just talk about his house in general, because Maxwell's home was essentially turned into a duplex. He had the upper unit and was looking to rent out the lower unit. So two years before Sade's murder took place, Maxwell rented out that lower unit in his home after posting about it on Facebook to a man named Pete Warbington, who he had known since he was a kid.
B
I actually watched Pete's hour long testimony in court. And the way that it's understood is that the lower, like, just picture like a house, like a regular house. The. With two stories. The lower unit on the ground floor was like a one bedroom, one bath that had a kitchen, a living room, and an office. There are pictures on Zillow that we can post. And then Maxwell's unit was the second floor. And. And then there was the basement, and that was in the basement. So actually Pete's house, his level, had access to that basement. He says he never went down there. He had been down there before, but he didn't make a habit of it. And then you could access the basement from outside as well.
A
And actually this is how it's described on Zillow. Quote impeccable, well maintained brick duplex on quiet street with excellent location. Boasts shiny hardwood floors, crown molding, natural woodwork, ceramic tile and nice upgrades including new windows, new concrete sidewalk and stoop, New roof, upgraded electrical and separate utilities. Bright and sunny lower unit features spacious living room with crown molding and hardwood floor. And eat in kitchen with newer oven and microwave. Charming upper has carpet and ceramic tile bath. Nice yard leading to 2.5 car garage with extra parking slab. Great location, close to shopping, places of worship and public transportation. Ideal for owner occupied turnkey ready. A real gem. So anyway, that's the description there, but there we go, getting back to Pete. So Pete described Maxwell as insufferable or an insufferable landlord and just a generally off putting person. Pete also described a large hole that Maxwell was digging in the backyard, which almost looked like a grave as well as a hole dug clear through the concrete basement floor. So I don't know, it's really giving Silence of the Lambs.
B
Yeah, he. Wait, so true.
A
But I guess Maxwell explained to Pete that he planned to create like a sub basement bunker. Clicks okay. And also, according to Pete, Maxwell was constantly, almost manically, beginning home improvement and construction projects without finishing them. So he was like always working on these projects that were probably very noisy and that probably annoyed Pete.
B
It did. Pete was. He even said that in his testimony that he was kind of a pain in the ass because of how much of a pain in the ass Maxwell was. Like, he. If Maxwell was being loud and doing these projects or having a bunch of people over, because he always had people over and they were drinking and he said people would fall down the stairs outside. Like it was always such a ruckus that he was constantly texting Maxwell, being like, dude, stop.
A
Well, finally after about two years, Pete was in the process of moving out. Just totally fed up with Maxwell's antics when Sade was killed.
B
Yeah, he was living there, which we didn't know originally.
A
Yeah, I mean this information came out after we covered the episode. But Pete was there the night that Sade was killed in his downstairs apartment unit of the house, which of course, you know, was separate from Maxwell's weird ass sex dungeon.
B
Yeah, I remember that was a floor below.
A
Also in the home was a hoodie that belonged to Maxwell that contained the DNA of both Sade and of course Maxwell. And when his phone was searched, a disturbing photo was recovered depicting Sade lying face down on the couch, a position that was described as incapacitated. Prosecutor Ian Vance Curzon explained, quote, she's face down, her face is buried in his couch cushion. He has her breast exposed and he's grabbing her, grabbing her right breast, the breast that would later be cut off of her body.
B
Like, what a sick fuck. Because this photo is very much believed to have been taken after he had already killed her. And it actually gets even worse because presented in the trial was another very disturbing photo of Maxwell holding in his hand her severed breast, almost like a trophy. But he actually deleted the photo. But law enforcement was able to recover it. And this photo was taken and then deleted at about the same time, just after midnight the night she was killed.
A
So it's very clear that it's not like, you know, they went on this date and then they got into an argument and something happened and Maxwell was planning this. This is something he wanted to do. It was something that he got joy out of doing.
B
Well, and if that picture was taken just after midnight and they arrived at the house just before 10pm it happened very quickly as well. She was there for less than two hours before he killed her. So the Anderson family, of course, secured top notch legal representation for their sick son Maxwell. Hiring defense attorney Anthony Cotton, who is known for representing Morgan Geyser of the Slenderman stabbing case, which we covered in episode 349 of Going West. Just two weeks after Sade was killed, Maxwell was charged with first degree homicide, mutilation of a corpse, and arson. And he pleaded not guilty to all three charges. Now, while the investigation was underway, an informant came forward to say that he had been over to Maxwell's house in March. So less than a month before Sade was murdered, this informant recalls seeing a basement room completely sealed off with tape, plastic and tarps.
A
Who is this guy, fucking Dexter?
B
Yeah. And also recalls spotting multiple saws in Maxwell's tools, which we do know he had. But the most shocking detail of this informant's account is that he remembers his friend saying that his friend, I. E. Maxwell, saying that he was planning to shoot and dismember Sade. Now, it's hard to know if this is true for a few reasons we don't know still when they met. So if they did meet at the club the night before, this can't be true. But if they already knew each other, you know, it's, it's possible. But also, of course, we haven't Seen the photos of her that were found in his phone, but it was never determined how she was killed. They were not able to determine a cause of death. And I imagine if he did shoot her, you'd be able to tell in that photo.
A
Yeah, probably. And, you know, it's also possible that the friend is maybe misremembering, and maybe Maxwell said, hey, I want to do this to somebody, not specifically Sade, you know?
B
Very true.
A
Like, I want to do this to some female.
B
Yeah. I wonder if this is true. If he would have said this, I honestly would not be surprised. Surprised, but it's. It's hard to know. We just wanted to include that just in case. Well, Maxwell's father, again, Stephen Anderson, released a statement that read, quote, on behalf of myself and my family, I would like to express our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Sade Robinson. We are shocked and devastated by her senseless death. To Sade's mother and father, words cannot express our sorrow for the incomprehensible pain and grief you are going through. We join the entire community in celebrating Sade's life.
A
So, I mean, that's kind of like. It's obviously a nice statement to make, but he also doesn't acknowledge his son in that. In that entire statement, he doesn't say, yeah, like, you know, my son did something terrible.
B
No, he's being very careful. And I understand why, because he also wants to give his son the benefit of the doubt. He wants the trial to happen if he comes out and says, my son's a monster, you know?
A
Well, yeah, there it goes. That's very true.
B
And also, I think because of his status in the community and his businesses, he has to be professional and very careful with what he says. So I guess it was kind of the best thing he could say. But obviously, the rest of us are like, okay, well, why did your son do this? Like, what do you really think? We wish we knew.
A
I'm glad. At least his dad wasn't like, my son is a perfect boy. Never did anything wrong.
B
Cause as we know, a lot of parents do that, and we're grateful that's not what happened here.
A
Yeah. I mean, the reality is Maxwell is a monster, and there's no way around that. He's a spoiled monster. While in Cudahay, near where Sade's car was found ablaze, her cousin Kiki found a blanket that was confirmed to have.
B
Belonged to Sade, which probably had been in her car. Honestly.
A
Yeah. That day, April 6, 2024. Both the blanket and Sade's foot was. Were recovered near a playground in West Milwaukee. So just a block from where her car was found in some brush nearby, detectives also came across discarded human flesh. On Thursday, April 18, 2024, in the Milwaukee suburb of South Milwaukee, a torso and an arm washed ashore on the Lake Michigan beach near Marina Rd. On May 11, 2024, an arm washed up on a Lake Michigan beach in Waukegan, Illinois, about an hour south of Milwaukee and was also found to belong to Shot A.
B
And that's why I said earlier that it spanned two states. We don't know if he disposed of it in Illinois, but I doubt it.
A
It probably just, you know, happened to wash ashore there.
B
Washed up? Yeah.
A
Well, law enforcement also employed sonar detection boats along the coastline of Lake Michigan in hopes of fully bringing her home to her family. But sadly, there are parts of her body that remain at large to this.
B
Day, which makes us wonder if he did go to Illinois or somewhere else far away, because there's a few hours that morning that are unaccounted for. But it also could be something more simple, like he disposed of it in a garbage can and that got hauled away before anybody knew better, you know?
A
Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's. That's definitely true.
B
But I wonder why he disposed of many of her body parts in such a public way. It does seem like he was trying to put them in the water and didn't realize that, like, they would float. So maybe he wasn't necessarily trying to, but the fact that they were on the beach. I wonder if he knew they would wash ashore on the beach if he didn't care or if he really thought that throwing them into the water meant that they were going to stay in the water.
A
But, yeah, I mean, he also placed, you know, human flesh in a park, like, you know what I mean? So he's just kind of putting. Just putting pieces of her body all over the city, like we said.
B
Sloppy.
A
Yeah, very sloppy. Well, multiple vigils were held to honor her memory, and a massive memorial sprung up outside the home in which she was believed to have been killed. Pink balloons, signs, and stuffed animals adorned the lawn, which was a nod to Sade's feature favorite color. And we will post photos on our socials, so you guys can see that as well. But they were swiftly removed one morning, likely to pave the way for a speedy sale of the house. But tributes still pop up very frequently. And actually, the house sold only a couple months later for $195,000. So almost $20,000 more than his parents paid for it nearly six years earlier. And for those wondering, the buyers apparently were aware of what happened in that house and the price was, quote, significantly reduced because of it.
B
Maxwell's trial commenced on May 27th of this year, 2025. That was just a little over a month ago from when we are recording and releasing this episode. So everything that we presented in this episode thus far was what was discussed in the trial. Far lengthier, though. But something else that we want to add is a bit more from Pete's testimony. So, like we said, he lived in the downstairs unit, the ground level unit of Maxwell's house, and he told the court all about how much he disliked Maxwell and that he was there the night that Sade was killed. Or at least, you know, he was living there at that time. He didn't know that Sade was there. He didn't know somebody was being killed. He was just saying, yeah, I lived there at that time. I was there every day. I was working a 9 to 5 job job out of the house. He would leave at like 6:30 in the morning. So by the time that Maxwell returned that morning from his long night out disposing of Sade's body, he, Pete had already left for work.
A
Yeah. And he basically told the court that he didn't hear screams, saws, or thumps while she was there. And like, he didn't even know that somebody was there that night, which is weird.
B
He actually said in his testimony that for the two weeks before Sade's murder, because he also, he was living in the house when Maxwell was arrested. So he said SWAT came in on April 4 while he was home. And he was like, what the hell is happening? Because obviously he had no idea. Yeah, he hadn't even heard the news that a leg had washed up that week. So he was just completely confused and surprised. But for the two weeks leading up to her murder, Pete actually told the court that he didn't even know that Maxwell was home during that time because he was being so quiet. Quiet during those two weeks.
A
Yeah.
B
In contrast to how loud he usually was. But he was there. He was there for those two weeks. So I think that's actually really important to note because he's saying, oh, yeah, I didn't hear screams, I didn't hear any of this. But he didn't hear. He didn't even know Maxwell was home. But we know he was. We know that they were both there. So I think that kind of tells us, for whatever reason, Pete didn't hear anything that night, but it doesn't mean that nothing happened. Actually, I will say he said that he didn't specifically remember hearing anything that night. He remembers that sometime that week. Because, of course, he wouldn't remember exactly, necessarily because it wasn't relevant to him at the time. But he remembers that that week that the arrest happened, that he heard the sound of a suitcase being dragged across the floor above him and then outside and down the stairs, and that this happened in the night, and he remembers. So it would have been that week that Sade was murdered. And honestly, the night that she was murdered, I'm sure is when that occurred. But that was all he heard.
A
Yeah, I'm sure when the SWAT team came and kicked down the door, he's probably like, I knew something was off with that guy. I knew there was a reason why I didn't like Maxwell.
B
Absolutely. Because he really didn't. Even though they knew each other since they were kids, I guess. Pete's baseball coach was Maxwell's dad, Steven. So they went back, but that's why he was moving out, because he's like, this is a nightmare situation. I don't want to live with you anymore. And then this fricking happens. But, yeah, so he didn't hear anything distinctive that evening, even though he was on the property. But again, it doesn't mean that it didn't happen. You know, it's just because he didn't hear a saw doesn't mean that Maxwell didn't use one. And honestly, just the fact that there is that photo of Maxwell holding her severed breast in his home tells us that she was dismembered in his home. That right there tells us.
A
I mean, yeah, absolutely. I mean, without a doubt she was. But depending on how he did it, because it's obviously, of course, he could have used, you know, manual tools to dismember her. It's not like he had to use an electric saw. That would make a ton of noise.
B
Absolutely. And we know that there was blood in his house. There was blood in his bathroom drain. So it is possible that whatever he did to her, Pete just didn't hear it. Because Pete didn't hear almost anything at all for two weeks. Even though Maxwell was home and he was there, he might have just been a little bit more quiet than usual.
A
And also, as we mentioned, or I don't know if we mentioned this yet, but Maxwell only worked, like, three days a week. So he was at home. Well, a lot of the time.
B
Yes. Thank you for bringing that up. Actually, because, yeah, he wasn't. He was. He was home a lot, and he did a lot of home projects. He was. He did have friends. He had a lot of people over, like we said, as well. But, yeah, he barely worked. And when he worked, it was at night, so he was home a lot. I do want to mention, though, it is really hard to believe. We know that just based on her body parts that were found, one of them, her leg, he would have had to cut through her femur, which is the toughest bone in the body. And I was listening to an expert discuss this in court as well, about how difficult that would have been to break through that bone. So it's very interesting to me that he would have then likely had to do that with a manual tool. And it's not to say that you can't do it with a manual tool. That just seems very difficult. And let's just be blunt here. It's probably very difficult to dismember somebody.
A
Yeah. So I will say again, he is a pretty large guy.
B
Yes.
A
Considering. And sade was, like, 5 foot tall. So she was a lot smaller than this guy.
B
Good point. Well, Maxwell's attorney argued to the jury that there was no direct evidence that drew the conclusion that Sade had died in Maxwell's home or by his hand, because there was no murder weapon. There was no cause of death, there was no motive. I'm sure he got rid of the murder weapon or weapons while he. Or at least the what he used to. To dismember her while he was disposing of her body parts, but especially because they didn't have a cause of death. And that photo of her on the couch, incapacitated, as they said. Yeah. That doesn't prove that she's dead. But from looking at it, they're like, well, we are sure that she was. So it's kind of like, we know, but we don't know.
A
Right, Right. Yeah.
B
So his attorney also urged the jury to contemplate the reasonable doubt associated with Maxwell's guilt. But the jury seemed to have their minds really made up here, because in a historically swift process, the jury deliberated for just 36 minutes before settling on a verdict.
A
They're like, yeah, we just know this guy did it.
B
Yeah. There was like, that kind of proves to us that everybody. The jury was like, yep, yep, yep. Because that really is just enough time to kind of go through all the basics, and nobody had to be convinced.
A
That's enough to sit down in a chair inside a room and get back up and then get back up and head back out.
B
Exactly. So on Friday, June 6, just a few weeks ago, Maxwell Anderson was found guilty of first degree murder. After seven days of testimony, he was charged with mutilating a corpse, first degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse, and arson of property other than a building. The defense didn't call a single witness to testify, nor did Maxwell address the court. But his attorney, Anthony Cotton, explained, quote, that's a personal decision for him. I think there are a lot of reasons why somebody wouldn't take the standard. I still think even though I know it's a guilty verdict, there would have been a lot of problems potentially with taking the stand. You get cross examined. So I respect that. After the announcement of the outcome, Maxwell's family issued a simple statement that read, quote, we respect the jury's verdict. So again, they're not saying, no, our son's innocent. Like, they know, I'm sure they know from the other incidents. I mean, we gotta think about it. If he had those two bad incidents with family in the years leading up to this. Yeah.
A
In Boulder, Colorado, and then the other.
B
Place, Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. Yeah, right. We can imagine that they witnessed different behavioral issues with Maxwell throughout his life.
A
I'm sure they saw the worst of Maxwell.
B
While Anthony explained that he and the Andersons had the utmost empathy for Sade and her family, he said, quote, I told them in opening that my heart goes out to them. We have a job to do to defend our client to the best of our abilities. But we're not. I'm not inhuman. It's horrendous, right? I mean, it's horrendous what happened to Sade. I think everybody agrees on that, regardless of where you fall in this case. And so it wouldn't be appropriate for me to reach out to them, but obviously my heart goes out to them. So he's. Which I'm sure a lot of defense attorneys feel this way. Like, I'm not a monster. I'm just doing my job.
A
They're like, I don't want to be doing this, but it just is my job.
B
But it was really such an emotional trial. Like, I was reading how when they showed the photos of her on the couch, the severed breast, when they're showing these photos, people in the courtroom are shaking and sobbing because it is so disturbing. And of course, they had to look at all the autopsy photos of her various body parts as well. Actually, there is a photo of Maxwell tearing up while. Maxwell tearing up while they are showing the photo on the screen of her torso during the autopsy, like, this was. I don't know if there were crocodile tears, but I'm just saying what I see, and I'll post that photo as well. But this was emotional for everybody across the board because it was so disturbing.
A
Well, that's actually really interesting to me that he was tearing up, and maybe it was because of the emotions of the other people that were in the courtroom. But I will say that, you know, like, this guy is a terrible person. He's a murderer. And he was. He was getting all this pleasure out of doing what he did to Sade, obviously taking pictures of her deceased body.
B
That's a good point. Yeah. It's hard to know what was going through his brain. We have a very special episode coming for you next week where we're going to kind of talk about this very subject. But, yeah, it's hard to know because he wasn't this, like, grinning, devious person in court. He looked very sullen and kind of confused the whole time, and that's how.
A
He kind of looked. Like a little stoic.
B
Yeah, a little stoic. Yeah. And that's not to say that he wasn't. He didn't take pleasure from it at all because I do think that he's a sick guy. But it's. The whole thing is just disturbing and just really sad.
A
Well, the community really stepped up to honor Sade's legacy. Omar Shaikh, who owns multiple restaurants in Milwaukee, including a food hall, announced his plans to host a fundraising dinner with the proceeds to go towards her memorial. And the event garnered so much support that he also decided to pledge proceeds to the non profit that Sheena, Sade's mom, founded in her daughter's honor. Sade's Voice Foundation. This task force seeks to raise awareness about missing and murdered black women and girls all across the state of Wisconsin, which is amazing. Sheena explained. We will continue to carry Sade's legacy, but we will also be the voice for all of the other missing and murdered black indigenous people of color. And Sheena also has plans for multiple fundraisers as well as a scholarship program. So far, Sade's Voice foundation has raised over $45,000. Sheena said proudly. It is her voice, her legacy to honor and carry what she was about. She was a light worker, and she has saved so many young women and individuals. My baby is a hero.
B
The school that should have been Sade's alma mater, Milwaukee Area Technical College, granted her a posthumous degree, which her sister Adriana accepted on Sade's behalf. A Gofundme for sade raised nearly $65,000 in addition to the money raised for Sade's foundation against Sade's voice. Right after the trial finished on June 3, 2025, Sade's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Maxwell Anderson and his family, whom they claim assisted him in attempting to cover up Sade's murder. Actually, this lawsuit alleges that his family threw away valuable evidence from investigation inside the home and then made a hasty sale of the home in order to minimize the amount of evidence that could be used against him. So obviously, if that's true, that is horrible.
A
Pretty fucked up.
B
I guess we'll find out. Well, Veronica Swanagan, who is the attorney retained by the Robinson family, announced, quote, it all indicates a pattern of behavior by Maxwell Anderson that is vile, heinous evil that must be further investigated. Which we agree, because it does really again, seem like there are some other crimes that have not come to the light that were committed by Maxwell. That's just what it seems like. Based on the unknown blood in his house, the woman's ID card, jewelry, clothes.
A
Yeah, it really does seem like there are some other crimes out there actually.
B
In addition to the Anderson family. She wants to hold the twisted fisherman accountable because she believes that they overserved her daughter, who as many of us realize was below the drinking age. That's 21. She was 19, which impaired her judgment that night.
A
Yeah. So obviously the twisted fisherman did not card Sade and possibly Maxwell was buying drinks for her.
B
Right. Well, to mark the legacy that Sade left behind, a mural memorializing her likeness can now be seen on the wall of Pizza Shuttle where Sade used to work. So if you live in Milwaukee, you should definitely go support them. Her cousin Keke told the press that finding the rest of Sade's remains is now the most important part of their crusade. Saying, quote, I'm gonna say her crown, her head is still missing. That's why it's important that we still do all these memorials and stuff so that people don't forget. We still don't have all of her. Sade's mom, Sheena added, we still don't have my baby's crown, her head. Have the demon tell us where the rest of her remains are. She had the most angelic glow aura around her. This is so difficult because we want our baby in the physical realm and she did not deserve to be taken like this. As of this month, July 2025, 34 year old Maxwell sentencing hearing is set to take place on August 15, 2025, where he will face and most likely receive a mandatory life sentence in prison. Thank you so much everybody for listening to this episode of Going West.
A
Yes, thank you guys so much for listening to this episode. I'm glad that there was some resolve in this case that this guy was caught, that he's going to prison for the rest of his life because he is a piece of shit.
B
Yeah. As you guys can tell, if you remember this case, a lot had come out. It feels like we have a lot more concrete answers. Even though he did not admit guilt, which is really disappointing because if he had. And I just. It's crazy because when I was watching a lot of the Court on. I think it's on Court TV on YouTube and I was watching a lot of it and he's just sitting there silently and they're wondering, they're asking all these questions. When I was watching the testimony about her dismemberment, for example, and he's just sitting there and you're just like, just say it. Like we're all speculating, asking about this, oh, what kind of tool could be used? How hard would this be to do? And he's probably sitting there just with the answer in his head, not saying it.
A
And sadly, he probably never will.

Podcast Information:
In Episode 517 of Going West: True Crime, hosts Daphne Woolsoncroft (Speaker B) and Heath Merryman (Speaker A) delve deep into the tragic case of Sade Robinson. Released on July 4, 2025, this episode revisits a previously covered case, providing fresh insights following the recent trial and verdict of Sade's murderer, Maxwell Anderson.
Sade Robinson, born on May 10, 2004, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, was a vibrant and industrious young woman. Her parents, Sheena Scarborough and Carlos Robinson, separated when Sade was young but maintained strong relationships with both. Sade moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during her early years and often visited her father in Mississippi and later Florida.
Quotes:
Sheena Scarborough on Sade's character:
"My baby was a boss and she overcame every hurdle and barrier that came her way. She was undefeatable."
(02:15) Speaker B
Carlos Robinson on Sade's influence:
"I watched her grow from a tiny little baby to a beautiful, intelligent young lady that would make any father proud."
(02:25) Speaker A
Sade was academically inclined, balancing her studies with two part-time jobs, making her financially independent. She worked at Pizza Shuttle and the exclusive Wisconsin Club, demonstrating her dedication and generosity by assisting her sister Adrianna in securing employment.
On April 2, 2024, Sade Robinson vanished after a promising first date in Milwaukee. Her car was later found torched, and dismembered body parts surfaced along Lake Michigan's coastline. Despite initial hopes of finding her alive, the discovery of her remains sealed the grim reality of her fate.
Key Events:
Last Known Activities:
Sade was excited about her date and communicated plans with her date, Maxwell Anderson, via text. They dined at Twisted Fisherman and later dined at Dukes on Water.
Missing Persons Report:
Sade missed her work shift, failed to respond to her family, and her Life 360 app indicated her last location at a lakefront park.
Quotes:
A pedestrian discovered a human leg in Warnamont Park on the evening of April 2, 2024. Subsequent investigations confirmed it belonged to Sade Robinson. Additional body parts were later found in South Milwaukee and Waukegan, Illinois, indicating a chaotic disposal process.
Key Details:
Vehicle Arson:
Sade's 2020 Honda Civic was found engulfed in flames, identified as hers through the VIN and recovered clothing matched her attire from the date.
Body Disposal:
Body parts were scattered over two states, leading to speculations about Maxwell's disposal methods and potential other victims.
Quotes:
Maxwell Anderson, 33, the Golden Bachelor alumni, emerged as the prime suspect. Described as immature with an erratic temper and a heavy drinking problem, Maxwell had a history of violent behavior and criminal charges, including domestic abuse and disorderly conduct.
Key Background:
Family and Personal Life:
Maxwell is the only child of Steven Anderson, president of Anderson's Insurance Associates. He lived in a suburban house in Milwaukee, which he had transformed into a duplex with a notoriously messy basement described as a "sex dungeon."
Criminal History:
His past includes violent outbursts, domestic disturbances, and assault charges, painting a picture of a troubled individual prone to aggression.
Quotes:
Maxwell Anderson was arrested on April 4, 2024, following a routine traffic stop. Evidence found at his home included blood stains, knives, a gun, and disturbing photos of Sade. Despite his defense attorney Anthony Cotton's efforts to create reasonable doubt, the jury quickly found Maxwell guilty after a brief deliberation.
Key Points:
Evidence Presented:
Blood evidence, Maxwell's own DNA on clothing, and a pivotal photo of Sade lying incapacitated on a couch.
Defense Strategy:
Argued lack of direct evidence linking Maxwell to Sade's death, highlighting the absence of a murder weapon and clear cause of death.
Verdict:
After seven days of testimony, the jury deliberated for only 36 minutes before convicting Maxwell of first-degree murder, mutilation of a corpse, hiding a corpse, and arson.
Quotes:
Sade's community rallied to honor her memory. Vigils, memorials, and a mural at Pizza Shuttle celebrated her life. Omar Shaikh, a local restaurateur, hosted fundraising events supporting Sade's Voice Foundation, a nonprofit aimed at raising awareness about missing and murdered Black women and girls.
Key Initiatives:
Sade's Voice Foundation:
Established by her mother Sheena to continue Sade's legacy and support other affected families, raising over $45,000 through various fundraisers and scholarship programs.
Memorials and Announcements:
Post-trial, the school granted Sade a posthumous degree, and a GoFundMe campaign garnered nearly $65,000 in support.
Quotes:
Maxwell Anderson awaits sentencing scheduled for August 15, 2025, where he is likely to receive a mandatory life sentence.
