B
Hi, I'm Molly Smith.
C
And I'm Tom Clare.
B
And we met two years ago on a little show called Love island.
C
And now we're getting married.
B
We are officially the new Nearly Weds.
C
Move over, Sophie and Jamie.
B
Maybe just Jamie. Well, this is super exciting, isn't it? First step, episode one.
C
We've got some big boots to fill.
B
I know. Huge boots to fill. I'm actually a bit nervous.
C
I hope you guys enjoy it.
B
Nervous but excited.
C
Yeah, but we're going on a journey. We're getting married.
B
We're getting married.
C
And yeah, there's just so much to talk about. Everything is laid out.
B
Yeah, we're not going to hold anything back. Everything's just going to be put out on the table from arguments, which we've not actually had that many as of yet.
C
Disagreements. We've had a few of Them?
B
Yeah. We have budgets. Budgets, yeah. Location, everything. It's all gonna be put out there.
C
So, yeah. Should we tell them how we met? How it all began? How you fell madly in love with me?
B
Sound. Go on, then. You tell em.
C
So, to anyone who doesn't know, me and Mol, we met on Love Island All Stars. We both went on separate serieses.
B
Series is what Series? Series.
A
Series.
B
Separate series.
C
Separate series, yeah. Didn't work out. We went back on All Stars and here we are now.
B
I know. And it was quite tragic, the first part of my All Stars journey. Until you walked in, of course.
C
You went in right at the start. Was it night one?
B
Night one. I went in.
C
Bit of a crazy entrance.
B
And then I was in there for, I think it was around 10 days before you showed up. And I was actually ready to leave.
C
I was like, yeah, we were gonna go.
B
I was gonna pack my bags and go.
C
Yeah. I didn't realise how close you actually
B
were to going, but I think you were. From what he's told me, you were talking about me.
C
I'll be honest, I was gunning for you.
B
Yeah, go on, tell him.
C
Is gunning the right words? I mean, I'm like coming. Gunning, not trying to attack you.
B
Texting the producer.
C
So there's a producer called Coco. Lovely woman. But I was in holding. I think I was in holding for like, 17 days.
B
That's a long time.
C
I know. I was loving it. I was on the beach, I was chilling in South Africa and, like, you'd get an update every other day and I'd be. I'd be ringing her or telling my chaperone, I'll ring her. Like, when am I going in? Because I was always going for you. And so when we're on the phone, I'd be like, how's my girlfriend? Obviously, we didn't know each other then. I'd be like, how's my girlfriend?
B
Bit star crush that, isn't it?
C
Yeah, a bit weird.
B
It's like that. You Netflix program.
C
Hello, you.
B
Yeah. That was you. That was you. Hello, you.
C
But, yeah, basically, when you're a bombshell or when you're going in, you have to give your top three of who you like. And you was always number one. But you didn't never believe me.
B
No, I didn't. So I made him prove it.
C
So basically, long story short, after, when we came out, I got my chaperone to send me screenshots and that kind of clarified it.
B
I'm crazy right now.
C
She was like, no, you didn't. Prove it. No, you didn't. You never liked me.
B
No, I didn't. But you were saying I was top of the list, like, all the time. So I was like, well, prove it then.
C
You were. And then what happened when I first walked in? Sorry.
B
Completely, completely blanked me.
C
I don't know why.
B
Hello to every other person in there, Guys and girls. Give all the girls a hug. And completely blanked me.
C
I don't know why. Honestly, I think I must have been a little bit nervous, maybe.
B
But then at the fire pit, obviously because of that situation, I was thinking, oh, he's not interested. Then, like, this is just another person that's come in that is not interested. I'm just sat at the end of the fire pit and I kind of, like, checked out. No, no, no, no, I did. Cause I thought, well, it's got history with other people in here. I'm just like. He didn't even say hello to me.
C
So, Yeah, I don't know why I did that.
B
I started just, like, looking around and you were talking away to everyone, and I was just, like, looking around and
C
thinking, your face wasn't like that. I'll be real. Your face. I'll tell them what actually happened.
B
That's the truth.
C
Went to the fire pit with the girls, chatting to everyone. You're right on the end. I'm thinking, why is she on the end? Like, sit next to me. Everyone's engaging with me. Say, I'm sat there. You're like this. I'm thinking, oh, my God, this girl that fancy me. I've told all the producers I fancy.
B
And then what's the point in giving my energy to someone who can't even say hello to me?
C
Of course, now I understand.
B
And I wasn't intentionally doing it. I was kind of just a bit
C
like, well, you just checked out of the whole hours.
B
Yeah. I was ready to go home.
C
Yeah.
B
And then you picked me for the date, the main course. Don't know why I can't cook. So I thought I'd give you food.
C
You can cook. You are quite a good cook, I'll give you that.
B
I don't know what I mean. Salmon and ravioli.
C
Ravioli, ravioli. That famous Italian dish. Ravioli.
B
And then I don't know what else I made.
C
Yeah, but.
B
And that was it.
C
Long story short, we ended up winning.
B
Yeah.
C
Love Island All Stars.
B
Crazy.
C
And now we're here, first episode of our new podcast. Big thanks to Jamie and Sophie, by the way, because we actually loved watching your podcast. But, yeah. And now we're engaged and we're about to get married.
B
Get married. Should we talk a little bit about our engagement and how it all went down?
C
Where do we start?
B
Well, with you. When did you know that you were going to propose?
C
I think not necessarily proposed, but I think I knew I was going to marry her a long time before that, I'll be honest.
B
Yeah. I think it's weird because with being in Love island, you're kind of with each other 24 7, so you get that taster of being like living with each other. Yeah.
C
Yeah.
B
So I think I kind of knew fairly when, early on.
C
When.
B
Well, I can't give you a date and a time, but I kind of knew that, like, I was going to be with you forever.
C
Yeah.
B
But then it's down to you, isn't it?
C
I initially wanted to do it in South Africa, Cape Town, where we met, where we had our first date on the show. But logistics wise, I just didn't think it was going to work.
B
Yeah.
C
But that's why I wanted to do it initially. And then we was going away on holiday. We went to Maldives. In Dubai.
B
No, we were gonna go to Maldives.
C
That's another story.
B
And I was booking it for your birthday.
C
Yeah.
B
So I was getting it all up, booking it all. And Tom was adamant that you wanted to go to Maldives, weren't you? You were like, no, no, I really want to go to the Maldives as well. So I was like, right. Well, we were going with my best friend and her husband. So I was like, the weather is shocking in the Maldives at the minute. And I was showing you the weather app. Even my friend was as well. And you were like, no, no, no, I want to go.
C
When I get to my head, I like, no one can tell me otherwise.
B
So we booked it.
C
Yeah.
B
We sat, me and you. And I had that conversation with you over and over again. But we sat there, we bought the Maldives and literally I'm talking 30 seconds after it was confirmed, you stood up, started pacing around the living room going, oh, my God, what have we done? The weather. Look at the weather, Molly, look at the weather. And I was like, I did tell you this. And you were like, I don't remember you telling me this. I thought, I can't, I can't with you right now. So I'm looking, thinking, why are you getting so stressed about this? Cancelled. Cancel it all? Yeah, completely cancelled it all.
C
I wasn't thinking straight. But then fast forward, we love Dubai. We've been a few times. It's kind of a bit Like a home from home for us. And I felt like I know quite a few people there. I feel like I could make an amazing setup. I feel confident that I can do it there. But I have no ring, so I had to, I had to get a ring. So I was searching, obviously, I was speaking to Sophie, your best friend, a lot, for advice and you sent me a few tick tocks of like engagement and stuff. Every guy out there who's probably not engaged yet, I'm sure your missus is
B
currently sending you when your phone's lying around and I'm going, ring, ring, ring, engagement ring, so that when your next pick it up, your TikTok's flooded with all sorts.
C
Yeah, but the time where I actually got it, you was unwell.
B
Yeah. So you told me this after you
C
was on smoke that day.
B
I was severely poorly. Like, I'm talking bed bound sweats. Couldn't even get out of bed.
C
You had a cold.
B
Take that back.
C
Oh, sorry.
B
Couldn't even get out of bed. That is so rude. I'm glad I give you so much crap now. Couldn't even get out of bed. Couldn't go downstairs to get a glass of water. I was literally like really severely poorly. And Tom decides to turn around to me and go, I'm off to play paddle all day. So I thought, all right, that's fine. I mean, if it was rolls reverse, you wouldn't let me leave the house.
C
My flu's different.
B
But wow. So I was like, okay, he'll go and play paddle for a little bit and then he'll come back and it'll be fine. No, he left at probably about half 8 in the morning and didn't come home until 7 o' clock at night.
C
No way.
B
100%. I'm gonna check the ring camera.
C
Okay.
B
So anyway, I think it got to about 2 o'.
C
Clock.
B
I must have started sending text messages.
C
And these weren't the nice textures. No, they weren't that nice. Having a good day, babe? Nope.
B
No, I weren't. I was hoping that you were losing that paddle and that you injured yourself, but I was like, I hope you're joking. You better be on your way home. I've not even been able to get out of bed for a glass of water. Like, I've literally just been like dying in bed and I've had not, not even a text off you to check in on me, see if I'm okay. So I'm there sending him all these texts like, you better be on your way home. How long does Paddle take, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And little did I know, me and
C
Mark, your best friend's husband, helped me out a lot. To be fair, helped me out a hell of a lot. We went to the jewelers, sat down. I didn't know there was so much, like, different grade you can get for a ring and like.
B
Yeah, there's loads of different stuff.
C
Yeah. But I had an image in my head how I wanted it and how what I know you would like, but I did a few little bits to myself. So there we are. We got the ring all sorted, all boxed off.
B
Open your phone. Abusive text messages.
C
After abusive text messages, I opened my phone. I think he'd sent me something. Where are you? And I felt like, I said to Mark, I was like, if only she knew. I just felt like saying, I felt like, turn around, send your voice. I'm like, shut up. I'm getting you a ring.
B
Well, that was your special sneak peek from episode one.
C
And there is loads more to come from this exciting episode, trust me.
B
So head on over to our very own feed by searching nearly weds with Molly and Tom to continue the journey.
C
Happy listening.
