Hey friends, welcome to episode 121, the local Instagram formula 2.0. Now you may notice today's episode is called the Local Instagram Formula. And if you have been a long time listener of the show, my original episode of the Local Instagram Formula is one of my most popular episodes. This was originally episode number two and it has by far blown all of the other episodes out of the water. As far as number of downloads and in the original episode, I teach my five part local Instagram formula. It's the exact five things that every local business owner needs to have on their Instagram so that people in their city can find them, so they can follow them and, and hire them. And don't worry, I'm gonna, I'm gonna reshare the five parts of the formula on this episode too. But since I first recorded this episode in like 2022, obviously Instagram has changed and I have worked with so many more business owners. I have audited hundreds of Instagram accounts. At this point, I have answered thousands of questions from so many different types of businesses and I have just created a better step by step version of how to apply the local Instagram formula to your Instagram profile and to your post so that number one, you can get more local followers so that when people land on your profile, they actually click the follow button. And then number two, so you can turn those followers into clients and do that quicker. So this concept, the local Instagram formula, is taken straight from the LocalPreneur Academy. And it's really, this is really where I've spent the time perfecting it, but now I have taken it and I have put it into a three part mini training for you, also called the Local Instagram Formula. So this mini training is a three part video series where I not only teach you the formula more in depth, but I teach you how to actually apply it to your Instagram so you can start getting more local followers and more local clients. I have just worked with so many local business owners at this point that I know what works and what needs to be on your Instagram and what needs to be said and repeated over and over and, and what's important and what's not important and what's working now on Instagram and the foundational things that still work on Instagram even as things have changed over the years, those foundational things that still do work very well for local business owners. Because I do know sometimes it's like, well, what does still work? Like, what doesn't work? Like, what's the trendy thing that I need to hop on? It seems like every week Instagram has an update. So that's really exactly what this training is for. So in this mini training you will go through three actionable videos where I walk you step by step through how to optimize and leverage your feed with the local Instagram formula so you can get found on Instagram by locals. And so the perfect people will know that you are perfect for them when they find you, they this is what gets you more followers. Then we focus on how to turn those followers into clients. Sometimes as business owners, we make it harder than we need to for people to work with us. So I'm really going to show you some blind spots, really common mistakes that I see happening. And I'm going to help you remove all the resistance that are that's getting in people's way right now. Like anywhere you may be making it confusing or complicated or hard for people to take that next step and work with you. So we just want to make it an easy, no brainer next step for them to say yes. And this is where you really start turning your followers into clients. And then in the last video, I teach you how to create content that does both of these things. It turns out people into new followers and it turns those followers into clients. We want content that does two things. We want content that gets you found locally and we want content that converts into clients. So I teach you how to apply the local Instagram formula to your content. But right now I'm going to walk you through the five parts of the formula so you can start thinking about where the gaps might be. And then in the training, we're going to fix those gaps. So there are five crucial things that someone must know whenever they land on your Instagram. And that is they need to know who you are, where you are, what you do, how you can help them and how they can work with you. That is the formula. Those are the five parts. Who you are, where you are, what you do, how you can help them and how they can work with you. So I'm going to explain each one of these. But before I do that, let's talk about why these five things are so important, like why the local Instagram formula matters so much for local businesses. Here's the thing. Instagram today is not just a social media app anymore. It's a search engine. People use Instagram, like Google. They are searching for local businesses, they are searching for services, they are searching for local recommendations inside of Instagram, they are doing this instead of going to Google. So if your Instagram isn't super clear and using keywords, or if they aren't Clear. If people aren't clear on who you are and where you are and what you do, whenever they do find you, or when they see your content or when they land on your feed, you could be missing out on clients who are literally looking for what you offer right now. So, number one, people just may not be able to find you at all right now. And we want to fix that. But what also happens is people may land on your profile, but they can't instantly tell if you're local to them, or they don't know what you offer or what you sell or really what you do, or they don't know how to hire you. So they leave. They don't follow you, they don't DM you, they don't click, they leave. A confused person does not click Follow, and a confused person does not click Buy. So, again, that is what we want to clean up, and that is what the local Instagram formula fixes for you. And I see this all. I see this happen all the time. Business owners may be posting, they may be trying to do reels, they're showing up, but they are missing these key pieces. So they are not actually converting any of their viewers or followers or anyone into clients. So that is why the local Instagram formula is so important. It's about making sure that your Instagram is set up and leveraged and optimized so that local people can find you, and they know exactly what you offer, and they know how to hire you and work with you. So it helps you to stop losing those potential clients who are finding you and leaving, or people who are just kind of hanging out and. And instead turning them into followers and buyers. So let me walk you through the five parts of the formula so you can really spot where your gaps might be. All right, so the first part of the formula is who you are. And I know this sounds really simple, but it's something that I find people really don't go deep enough with. You want people to know the person behind your business. And as local business owners, we're often working hands on, face to face or very closely with our people. Maybe we're even going into people's homes. They're coming into our homes, they're coming into our studios, they're coming into our clinics. We're just working very closely with them, or maybe we're meeting up with them somewhere. Most of us are the main point of contact. We're the face of our business. People want to know us ahead of time. They want to trust us, they want to feel connected with us, they want to know us. So that's why this is the first part of the formula is really getting clear on who you are and helping people get to know you. The second part of the formula is where you are. This is one of the most common mistakes that I see business owners make across the board in their, in their marketing, in their social media, just everywhere, and especially here on Instagram, since this, this is the local Instagram formula. But that's not making it clear where you're located, like not listing your city, not listing the area or areas you serve. And this is a problem because people want to know that you're local to them. There's also this instant connection when people land on your profile and they see that you're local to them, that makes them want to follow you. They want to buy from you, they want to support you. And when they see that they're local to you, they also know now that they can work with you, that this is actually an option for them. And since Instagram is becoming more of a search engine, we want you showing up for the keywords. When people are searching in their city for certain things. When people search for the city and your service or what you offer, we want you to be showing up in those results. So this brings me to the third one, which is what you do. You want this to be very clear and very easy to understand. Not cute, not vague. I always would rather you be clear over creative. So just be really clear with what you do. Like what is your business. If someone lands on your profile, someone finds you, if somebody's reading your post, they should know exactly what you do, what you offer, no questions like how, like the things that you do for them. So the fourth thing is how you can help them. And this does overlap with what you do. This is where you get to elaborate and go deeper and really start to differentiate yourself and position yourself as that local go to. So I like to think about what you do, like the third piece of the formula as the category of your business. But then how you can help them is really more about like your unique approach, like what sets you apart or how you get your people results. This is where you get to really show or talk about what you want to be known for locally. This is where people really start to think like, yes, like this is the person that, that I've been looking for. Now the fifth piece of the formula is how they can work with you. And this is another commonly overlooked missing piece because honestly, people like to avoid it. And that is why A lot of local business owners are posting, but they're not getting clients. But it's really, really important. You have to tell people how they can work with you. You have to tell people what the next step is. We can't assume that people know what to do. We have to be really clear and direct and say it over and over. If you aren't telling people how they can work with you and what to do next, often they won't take action. You have to make this really simple, really clear and really easy for them. I like to think about it as, like, what is the obvious next step for them? So those are the five steps of the or the five parts of the local Instagram formula. So again, they're who you are, where you are, what you do, how you can help them, and how they can work with you. Like, I'm not really sure my Instagram's really optimized for local clients to even find me.
