Gated Recordings Podcast 71 **Tracklist below description** Yes, we’re back again. No, we haven’t learned anything. This month we hand things over to Gabi Von Dub, a man who has spent the last 26 years behind the decks, which is long enough to have seen entire genres rise, fall, get rediscovered, renamed and then put back on vinyl for three times the price. Through all of that, he’s remained firmly locked into the electronic music continuum, still approaching it like there might be something new hiding in there if you just keep digging. His sets move between full-pressure dancefloor material and more introspective, head-down moments, the kind of long-form selections that suggest both patience and a reluctance to leave the booth. From late-night propulsion to early morning reset, it’s all handled with the confidence of someone who’s been doing this longer than most USB sticks have existed. Gabi’s been involved with labels and parties including Womblabel, Arctic Dub Records, Andrómeda, Question of Time and Elements, which reads less like a CV and more like a list of places where something slightly serious probably happened at 4am. He’s also released music under the name Augen on labels such as Moátún 7, Mighty Force, MiMi, AMPEFF and Neo Ouija, all of which points to a long-standing commitment to machines, ideas and not getting bored. What he delivers here is a proper techno session. No shortcuts, no sudden lurches into something ironic, just a steady unfolding of groove, texture and pressure. A mix that assumes you’re paying attention, but doesn’t complain if you’re not. Before the mix gets underway there’s the usual nod to what’s happening in the Gated orbit. Things are moving, noises are being made, and it's all coinciding with the release of an immense new EP from Paul Hierophant 'The Elder Gods' - Please head over to our bandcamp to check the whole EP, it will be available by now - https://gatedrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/the-elder-gods Then it’s over to Gabi to take control and do what he’s been doing for the past two and a half decades. Settle in. As ever, thanks for listening, and thanks to Gabi for reminding us that consistency, patience and a slightly unreasonable amount of time spent with electronic music can, in fact, pay off. Gated Recordings Podcast 70 Another month, another descent into the machinery. This time the controls are handed to Mihail P, a producer and DJ with a taste for techno that stretches across eras without sounding like a museum tour. His productions and DJ sets lean toward deep atmospheres, melodic pressure and patient groove science, the sort of tracks that unfold gradually while you realise twenty minutes have passed and you have been staring approvingly at a hi-hat. For this mix Mihail pulls together a wide sweep of techno history. Early 90s futurist tackle, mid 90s machine funk, deeper 2000s explorations and a few newer transmissions for good measure. There are moments of Detroit-tinged elegance, UK techno grit, deep space drift and late night warehouse hypnosis. Proper heads-down music. Alongside his production work, Mihail runs Earthbound Recordings, his own imprint dedicated to atmospheric, thoughtful techno. The second release on the label, Earthbound002, is currently around the corner and should be landing very soon, so keep your radar tuned for that one. Before the mix begins there is also the usual brief look at what is happening in the Gated orbit. If you want to explore the label further, you can find our releases here: https://gatedrecordings.bandcamp.com/ You can follow Mihail and Earthbound here: https://soundcloud.com/earthboundrecordings Then it is over to Mihail to do the rest. Gated Recordings Podcast 69 Yes. We noticed. You noticed too. Let’s move on. This month’s episode comes from Jadey Smith, long-time Node friend and Gated label co-runner. When he’s not digging endlessly for music that might be good enough to put out on the label, into his own vast collection, or disappearing down an Aphex Twin rabbit hole for the hundredth time, he occasionally surfaces to remind us why he’s trusted with the keys. What he’s delivered here is a patient, head-down all-vinyl session moving through deep and dub-leaning house, trippy percussive pressure and late-night techno weight. No rush, no gimmicks. Just groove, texture and momentum. You’ll hear dusty house swing, humid dub atmospheres, soulful undertones and moments of hypnosis that are more felt than announced. Think Boo Williams warmth, Chaos in the CBD flow, Powder’s off-kilter haze, R&S heft and the faint hum of Sandwell-era tension running underneath it all. Before the mix gets underway, there’s a nod to what’s coming next on Gated. A new EP from Sean Dixon, with When Dawn Breaks, a collaboration with Bohm, taken from The Clock. More on that soon. There’s also a brief preview of an upcoming track from a properly serious producer. No names. No context. No hints. Just listen. Then it’s over to Jadey to do what he does best. Select, blend, and lock the room into place. As ever, thanks for listening, and thanks to Jadey for stepping out of his lair and absolutely nailing it. TRACKLIST AND MORE DETAILS BELOW – CLICK >>“SHOW MORE” << Happy New Year. Nothing has been resolved. This mix is Node and Gated’s end-of-year sweep of 2025: not a “best of”, not a chart, not legally binding in any way. It’s a collection of tracks that made a dent or subtly shifted the ground while everyone was distracted. Expect a broad and occasionally unhelpful range of tempos, textures and moods, assembled with minimal concern for algorithmic wellbeing. All the Gated releases from the year are folded in among a lot of other vital music from artists we admire, argue about, and keep coming back to. The idea is less about highlights and more about what happens when these tracks are left alone together in a room. Thanks to everyone who tuned in, put records out, showed up, or otherwise survived 2025. We’re already lining things up behind the scenes, and at Gated we’re very much looking ahead to more releases, podcasts, noise and low-level disruption throughout 2026. Welcome back to the Gated pod. This month, Manoli Moriaty delivers a fierce, sometimes brutal mix of techno. A producer and performer with live electronics and adaptive playback systems, Manoli began in Manchester’s early-2000s free-party scene, developing a practice shaped by DJ, turntablist, and controllerist cultures. His work blends niche offshoots of popular genres with avant-garde sonorities and has been presented internationally. He now lives in Liverpool, teaching music performance and creative technology. He recently researched DJ performance and genre conventions, saying: “When Node invited me on, I was deep in research across genres and instrument types. That shaped the mix: a chance to try new instruments, build coherence, and signal where techno could evolve. I wanted to highlight under-recognised artists, avoiding both arena-friendly anthems and underground snobbery. The mix leans toward what Dave Clarke called post-techno, moving through four phases over 111 minutes: ambient and dub-leaning textures with abstract rhythms; fragile but darker shades; a harder midpoint driven by half-time patterns; and a rise into peak-time energy. It was recorded in my garden-shed studio last May using an Allen & Heath Xone:96 and four Traktor Kontrol D2s. Automatic sync handled tempo, letting me focus on tonal balance, arrangement, and the occasional intense head-nod. Thanks to Node for the invite and discussions feeding into my forthcoming Dancecult Journal article, Playing by the Rules? Genre Conventions in Contemporary DJ Performance." Yes, it’s true. The Gated Podcast has awoken from its long, dignified slumber, a period of reflection, spiritual realignment, and mild administrative chaos. What better way to re-emerge than with the steady hand and impeccable taste of Andy Green, the Head Gardener at Verdant Recordings. An old head who DJs a little, goes out too much, and curates Verdant Recordings, Andy has long championed deep, diverse sounds without the faintest nod to trend or genre. That is precisely how we prefer things. He first joined us some moons ago, and now returns with a mix that is equal parts soil, soul, and subterranean hypnosis, the kind of thing that makes you question whether sunlight was ever really necessary. Before pressing play, visit Verdant Recordings on Bandcamp or SoundCloud (https://soundcloud.com/verdant-recordings) / https://verdantrecordings.bandcamp.com/ . Explore their latest release, Insignia by Thomas & James, a record of elegant depth and dangerous repeat value. https://thomasandjames.bandcamp.com/album/insignia Reacquaint yourself with Gated’s own Bandcamp, which has quietly sprouted new beauty from Joel Brittain, Lefrenk, and a proper under-the-radar digi-only release from ROI. https://gatedrecordings.bandcamp.com/music Kettle on.
