Let'S get ready for the day. I am doing a little bit of skin care prep before I do my makeup and I want to just chat and talk about a book that I read a few years ago that really left a lasting impression in my life and I always relate back to this book on Habits of Class podcast and I know we are getting ready to go into a new year so I feel like this book is like the perfect time to read. Like this is the perfect time of the year to read this book as we are getting ready to go into 2026. So if you're looking for something that is self empowerment, check out this book by Shonda Rhimes the Year of yes because it is really like thought provoking. It's empowering. It shows like how her thought process was in her journey and how she developed a self awareness of things that she was rejecting on her successful career path and she changed it by start saying yes to herself. So I want to talk a little bit about it and also share some insight on how that really inspired my own personal journey. Because after reading such a book like that you have no other choice but to start saying yes to yourself and really making changes in your life that is going to support your yes. So the Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes A little summary. I want you to read this book though because it is so good. She talks about how she was so focused on her career she was Turning down so many amazing opportunities. And she was turning down fun. She was turning down a venture and just invites public speaking engagements. And she was so focused solely on her career and just other things that really wasn't like the version we see today or read about her today. And one day she had a conversation with a friend and they kind of brought light to her and saying, like, you're always saying no to yourself. How about you start saying yes to you? So how does that apply with me today? I remember a time in my life where I was not as vulnerable and open. Like, I had, like this wall up and very guarded. And I wasn't always saying yes to opportunities that support the version who you see today. For example, public speaking. Oh, my God. Public speaking is like one of the things I feel like most people are afraid to do because it does require a level of being vulnerable and, you know, just speaking and communicating in front of people or even online on social media. It does take a skill. It does take a skill. And the more you practice, the more you practice that muscle of speaking public, the more confident you will become. And you know what's really funny and ironic about me actually talking about public speaking? I remember when I was in college, I had a public speaking class. You had to take it. It was like mandatory. You could not avoid this class. And I took the class and I was like one of the top three students that got chosen to do a public speaking event that it was based off of. The best public speakers in that class. And they had a special event where you competed against other students and the school too as well. And I made it to, like, round three. And I don't remember who won, but it was just an amazing competition at that time. But looking back, I was scared. Like, I was so scared. Like, I was literally like shaking nervous leading up to this competition because I knew it required a different depth level of me going into this public speaking competition. So how does that tie back into the year?
A
Yes.
B
A lot of times in our life, we are rejecting the version that we want to be in life, our higher self. A lot of times we are rejecting the friendship that we want for ourselves. We're rejecting relationships, we are rejecting money. We are rejecting ideals that support your higher self. So think about what goals did you set for yourself this year in 2025 and how have that helped you today? Like, as you're wrapping up the end of the year, how have those goals that you set for yourself help you become the version that you are today? Did you reach those goals or Are they still lingering in the back of your journal or on your vision board or in your notes that's in your phone? A lot of times we set goals for ourselves and it feels good when we put it on a piece of paper and we write about it, or we cut out a picture and we put on a vision board or we speak it to a friend. And it feels good in that moment. It's almost like an endorphine rushing and it feels good. But are you taking steps that are in alignment towards those goals, or are you just speaking it and not really working towards the things that you want in life? And from an energetic standpoint, there's something in your mindset has to click before you start to physically see it in your reality. And going back to the year of yes, how can you see that for yourself when you want to say yes going into 2026? Yes to your fitness goals, yes to your financial goals, yes to your opportunities that may come your way that's going to support you in the new year? How can you vibrationally get yourself there? You have to start visualizing it for yourself. And then you have to start taking action. And sometimes action is just turning on the camera and starts speaking out loudly and boldly like who you see yourself being like in 2026. And then press send to the universe. Press into the universe. Like, that is your submission to the universe that I see myself becoming a millionaire in 2026, or I see myself becoming a homeowner in 2026. I see myself going on brand trips in 2026. I see myself becoming engaged in 2026. Or I see myself traveling more in 2026. Like, how do you see yourself going into new year? And then how can you start saying yes to those opportunities that is going to support you on that journey? So look in your life right now and see what opportunities that's presented in front of you today. And have you given yourself permission to say yes to those opportunities? A lot of times we don't give ourselves permission because we're stuck in the old identity. We're stuck in the way that we used to do things. We're stuck in the way that we used to think. And when you are changing, a lot of times, your friends, your family, even on the Internet, they're going to remind you where they met you at in life. They're going to mirror that back to you. And sometimes it's not on purpose, but sometimes people don't know how to expand with you. And when you are on this path of transformation, when you're on this path of just glowing up. Saying yes to yourself is all you need. Saying yes to your ideals is all you need. You don't need permission from anybody else to say yes to go after your goals in life. You don't need permission. So start saying yes to those opportunities. Start saying yes to those opportunities that matches where you see yourself in 2026. I say yes to more fun. I say yes to adventure. I say yes to pleasure. I say yes to abundance. I say yes to money. I say yes to love. I say yes to fun. I say yes to peace. I say yes to calmness. I say yes to my health and wellness. I say yes to clear, beautiful skin. I say yes to new business ideals. You see how that feels? Start practicing your yes. Start practicing saying yes to you, goddess, because you are the creator of your own reality. And if you want to go into the new year with a yes mentality, start saying yes today. Look at your life and see where you can start saying yes in those areas that's going to help you evolve and transform your life as a goddess. Look at your life and see where you can start saying yes. It's all up to you to create that energy in your world. There was a time in my life where I was a little bit nervous starting this podcast. I wasn't sure, like, how I was going to format it because I didn't want it to be like a traditional podcast where there's like a studio and a microphone. I just knew I wanted to create. I wanted to share a message with the collective, and I just really wanted to empower not only myself to women that was looking for something to help them grow and nurture their mindset on their personal development journey. And I learned that saying yes is not about perfectionism. It's not about having the perfect setup. It's not about having the perfect camera, the perfect microphone, the perfect management team, the perfect clothes, the perfect makeup and hair. Like, start with what you have. This is going back to my realization of saying yes almost six years ago when I said yes to creating Habits of a Goddess podcast. I let out this energetic of. I feel confident in my ability to speak authentically what feels right to me. And I know that this is going to reach the right audience. I say yes. Like, energetically I said yes, and then mentally I said yes. And then physically I said yes when I started posting. That is empowerment. So when you start saying yes to yourself and you like, you energetically say yes, and then you mentally, it clicks with you in the head and Then you start putting the pieces together in your life. The universe opens up doors for you, okay? The universe opens up doors for you. But you first have to start saying yes to yourself. And this journey is a sub journey. It's not about who gets there quicker. It's not about who does it the best.
A
You.
B
You showing up and your raw, authentic self is, is enough. And I learned that when I started saying yes to myself and started showing up. People embrace you when you show up. It doesn't have to be perfect. So if you ever needed a sign to say yes to yourself, Goddess, this is your sign. This message is for you. I want you to start saying yes more often if it feels aligned with your goals in life.

The energy of yes. How does that feel? Saying yes to you sometimes is going to provoke others to feel like you're saying no to them. And I'm here to tell you, do not back away from your yes because you are priority. So when you say yes to you, it may provoke others and say, you know what? This person said no to me. That's because you chose you. So when you're saying yes to you, when you're saying yes to your goals in life, remember, it's about you. You are the priority. You're the prize. You are the top priority in your life. You are the main character. Main character, energy over here, okay? This is not a back seat. This is a front driver. You're driving this. You are driving the energy, okay? You are the life force. You're the creator of your own reality. So start saying yes even if it provokes others to no longer communicate with you because all of a sudden you chose you. Even if it requires others to step in a way and whatever the case may be, because you require a level of authenticity, you know, it goes both ways. It doesn't mean you love people less, love that person less, whatever. It doesn't mean that you're mean. And if it comes off as mean, oh well, you deserve to say yes to you, Goddess. You deserve to prioritize you. So think about the things in your life that you want to do going into the new year and start writing it down. But take action. No longer delay it. Don't delay your yeses, okay? Say yes fairly quick. Make that decision fairly quick and live in your abundance fairly quickly, okay? This is your season. I love you, Goddess. Thank you for joining me with this beautiful skincare routine that I created. I want you to continue living in your abundance, living in your goddess. Energy showing up for yourself every single day.
