We talk all about our experience at sea and the many bands we saw and spoke to. Features mini interviews with Foxing, The Callous Daoboys, Kaonashi, Softcult and Twitching Tongues. Thanks to Coheed, Blaze and Sixthman for having us.

A
This was the second Coheed set. So I watched from the same place again during the set and had this beautiful moment where they're playing the Suffering, which is the second single from this record. Claudio looks up, locks eyes with me, and like, immediately is like, oh, shit. It's. It's. The guy I just talked to yesterday stops riffing mid song to point at me. Keeps playing after that song goes into a story by shouting us out and being like, I was talking to Hard Lore yesterday about I'm not gonna spoil it. And that was just a really surreal moment. Like, this is a band I've been listening to since I was in middle school. Now he's talking about an interview I just did with him on his cruise that I was invited to play. Music is unbelievable. Hello, welcome. It's Hard Lore time. How you doing, Bo?
B
I'm doing good. I just left a birthday dinner for.
A
My Happy belated both day for.
B
Thank you so much for. For anybody in the Chicagoland era area. We went to Bavettes. Taylor took me to Bavettes. It's the number one steakhouse in Chicago.
A
You think they'll get that third star back or what?
B
That's a linear.
A
So they. They still got one.
B
Yeah. So it was so many Michelin stars.
A
In Chicago, it's unbelievable.
B
We got it, baby.
A
They should rename the Chicago star to the Michelin star.
B
Imagine.
A
Anyway, we're here today to talk about the SS Never Ender. It's the Coheed and Cambria CRE Cruise. And we were fortunate enough to be on there together this past week.
B
Yep.
A
Right before that, you. You were just in Japan.
B
I was.
A
Tell me about that.
B
Yeah. So I talked about it a little bit previously, but for the context of all of this, I think it. I'll go over it again because of the cruise. Weirdly, the tour in Japan ended the same day that the Cruise started on November 7th. So because of that, I was gonna have to leave, obviously. The band stayed for five days. They got home the same day we did because they were in Japan the whole time.
A
They had a good trip.
B
They had a great trip. So I went a couple days early on my own and I. I landed on Halloween at 8pm I got to my hotel around 8pm dude, it was like raining. I'm carrying all of. I have a pelican, my duffel bag and a backpack. And I'm in an Arcterics because it's raining. I describe it as the beginning of the Batman. It was literally like Halloween night.
A
Yeah. Tokyo, you know, you're the only guy.
B
It's straight up. And they go really hard for Halloween.
A
Everyone, you know.
B
Yeah, totally. Everyone was in costume, and I just kind of. I went there without a plan. I. You know, both. When I got into the room and freshened up a little bit, I just walked outside and started walking the next day.
A
That's the way to do it.
B
I literally walked outside the next day and looked left, looked right, and just went one way and then kind of made it up as I went along.
A
I gave you a couple wrecks. Did you do any of those?
B
I did Tapan Baby, baby. Yeah.
A
Great song.
B
The guy was like my cook guy, like, the old guy who was definitely in charge. They were super nice and really cool. I went to. God, I went all over. I went to Fred Perry. I saw the Stone island flagship. It's the largest Stone island flagship store in the world. And Isaac was all over that.
A
How cool is that?
B
It's really crazy, but I went all over, man. And as you know, it's the best place in the world.
A
It is. It is white Wakanda. It is true what they say. Can't wait to go back.
B
I was here eating like, an. And spending like, an. And the whole time. I think I spent, like, 800 bucks. You know what I mean?
A
Like, like, you. There's not. You'll. You'll look around, you'll be like, well, I'm gonna get that. I'm gonna get that. I'm gonna get that. And then you look at your checking account later, and it's the only place in the world where you'll be like, how was that? Less than I thought it was gonna be?
B
Yeah. Every morning, you know, you go to a family mart or a 711 or whatever, and, you know, I would get a rice roll, I'd get a hot coffee, a vitamin C drink, a cool drink, and then, like, a sweet. And it'd be like six American dollars.
A
Did you get Rainbow Boss?
B
Of course.
A
What'd you think?
B
I. I like rainbow. I like gold.
A
Gold, Gold. But, dude, on a cold day, getting on. On a street. On the middle of a street, getting a hot Rainbow Boss on a cold day is, like, insane. You can feel it through your glove.
B
And it's like a perfect portion of coffee, too. Like, it isn't too much. The only fucking bummer is that then you're carrying your trash everywhere.
A
Carrying your trash. Did you experience that? American caffeine really jacked you up when you got back.
B
Yes, I did notice that. I also noticed. So the last time I was there was 10 years ago. They have Coke plus there.
A
Yeah.
B
Which is like. They have Coke Zero, but that's kind of whatever. They have Coke plus, which is super carbonated. We found out, because James and I were drinking them constantly, that it's like kind of for old people because it's got fiber in it. Oh, yeah. So nice. So it's kind of like. It's like a Metamucil.
A
Oh, shit.
B
Oh, shit. So that was kind of funny, isn't it?
A
Dude, they don't really with diet soda there at all. It's crazy.
B
I mean, Diet Coke doesn't exist. The. I think the only sugar free thing that exists was. No, they had Red Bull. Yeah, some monster, which I, I, you know, hey, I got monster. You know what I mean? Like, that's right. I. I did it. And. And then, yeah, this, this Coke Plus. I had a really funny moment where I was at the Senjo shrine, like the big old shrine in. In Tokyo. Big Buddhist, the oldest Buddhist shrine is what it is. And I was walking around and all of a sudden I heard a bunch of people cheering. And it's like, I'm like looking around. I was like, that's weird. Yeah. And I see a guy and he's holding his phone horizontally like this. And he's doing this. He's going like that. And I walk by knowing that the Dodgers and Blue Jays were in the World Series Game 7. While I was there, I pointed at him and I went, did they win? He turned his phone around and they were celebrating. And I went, yes. And he went, yes. That was it. That was just like a really nice international intercultural moment where I was just like, oh, cool, there's two. Two Japanese guys kicking ass in LA who just won. And I literally heard people cheering out in public because they won, dude.
A
Ohtani is literally like, I don't even know who to compare. Jesus. I would say he's Japanese Jesus.
B
He's all over like family mart advertisements and stuff. He's everywhere.
A
Unbelievable. So game seven was during the Twitch Fits show.
B
That's right.
A
Two years in a row, a Dodgers World Series game is during the Twitch Fitz show. Two years in a row, they win. Two years in a row, they win the World Series. Wow. This year was game seven and it was. It ended like 30 minutes before we played. It was unreal, dude.
B
So the vibe is high.
A
The vibe was off the charts.
B
It's crazy to think because then shortly, about 30 minutes after that, I went and ate at a place that had beef tongue and wagyu in one sitting. So I was eating that while you guys were playing. For sure.
A
100 I feel just funny.
B
Funny to think that, you know, you felt it. That's good.
A
Yeah. I felt the beef tongue up my ass. So then you flew straight to my.
B
Well first. Then the band came.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
How was that?
B
We. We. We played Zuma. Booked a fest in Tokyo and it was awesome.
A
Beautiful.
B
It was awesome. Cruelty played right before us. They had a great set. Seeing Sana was awesome. There's a ton of Bam. Palm played.
A
Yeah.
B
Sana's doing her thing. Zoom is the man we played. And it was one of our best international shows. Period.
A
Hell yeah.
B
If it was legitimately awesome. A guy.
A
You never know.
B
You know a guy jumped on stage during Scrambled because there was like a. A demanded encore. Which always feels good. Got on stage during my part and sang it. And then he was like. And then we sang it. We did the double. You know, Fun. Then we played Nagoya. Much smaller. Much more intimate. Still really cool. Went to Mount Fuji that day. All that good stuff. And then last day was Osaka.
A
And I haven't been to Osaka in 11 years. I think.
B
Hasn't changed.
A
Nine years. Yeah.
B
Hasn't changed.
A
Okay. I can't wait. I'm. I'm excited to go next time.
B
It's the best place on earth. And so then began my. My travel day. And that was a flight from Osaka to Tokyo. It like a 13 hour layover. So I got a capsule hotel.
A
Yeah.
B
Got a shower.
A
Nice.
B
Napped for four hours in this capsule hotel. It's awesome. Got on the flight. Flight was easy. I watched like Saving Private Ryan and was in a war mode. Big, big war. Yeah.
A
You're like, why, why, why doesn't everybody love Japan? You know?
B
So I flew. This is the only crazy thing is I flew from Tokyo to Houston and then to Miami to meet up with.
A
You guys all during the government shut down TSA thing.
B
TSA is like. So I'm texting Colin and your brother being like, so there's a chance we like don't make this cruise.
A
100 we were. I was. I would say I was 40.
B
Sure.
A
We weren't.
B
Was. Yeah. And. And apparently Houston Airport was like one of the ones that was having the. A big. And that's where I had a layover.
A
Yeah.
B
But I made it through. Everything was fine. I'm really good at airports now. I'm like, I got it.
A
You know. We have.
B
The only other thing of note is because of the time change, I had 37 hours on November 7th.
A
You're literally a Hulk Hogan.
B
Literally.
A
Hulk Hogan wrestles 366 days a year.
B
And that's how you.
A
You had a 37 hour day. It's unbelievable.
B
I proved him right.
A
Miracles happen. It does work for you, brother.
B
And then got into Miami, got into the hotel, ordered a fucking Domino's. It slapped, went to bed at like 10pm and woke up at 7.
A
Yeah.
B
Doesn't even make. I had no jet lag. I had no jet lag.
A
It's. That is truly a miracle. We landed at the same time. November 7th. Taylor Young's birthday. Your birthday was right when we got home. His was right when we left. We got cumanos from a place called Sanguich in Miami. That was very good. So I heard it was on the Michelin guide, such as Little fish. Which I figured, you know, these Michelin guys must know something if they. If they like little fish. So went to sandwich. Very good. Went to bed, got ready, horrified before the first day of this cruise.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
Because I don't know what to expect here.
B
We. It was such a. Such a mystery.
A
Mystery is a great way to put it. Blaze, who manages Coheed Military Gun High Vis got us on there. He's the best. Thank you, Blaze, for that. It was awesome. Here we are, dude. Day one, dude.
B
Treated so well.
A
Yeah.
B
From the rip.
A
Yeah, From. From the. From the bus ride over. First guy we see in the morning is Anthony Green in the lobby.
B
That's right.
A
And that would remain a constant for the next five days or so. Anthony Green was our. Was like our safe, safe place on the cruise. For all of twitching tongues. Really. Every time we saw him, it was.
B
Just like, there he is. Yeah.
A
And you gotta. You gotta go through Gen Pop to really get anywhere. And like. Yeah, like, we're you and I. We're nobody.
B
We're nobody. I never.
A
Yeah, they don't know who we are. They don't know what my band is. Anthony Graham, Ain't nobody on there. So he's, you know, he's getting stopped every time, but he's just so sweet and courteous every time. As soon as we. What happens when we get on? We gotta. We're waiting all day for this damn casino to open.
B
Oh, yeah, we checked out the casino. We checked out the artist lounge. There's guitars and a piano and I'm immediately like. First person to pick that up is the biggest asshole in the room. And by the end of the cruise, I was playing them every time I.
A
Was in the room. Oh, Every time, dude, I was on there like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. First band on the cruise was Code seven. Very kind people, listeners of the show. Apparently. Very cool sick band. They played one set that was more like Space Rocky type shit. And that was awesome. And then there was a LS Dunes.
B
Which was with the full band.
A
Full band. They don't like the word super group, but it is what it is, you know. Members of Thursday Circus Survive Coheed My Chemical Romance. Yeah, we were trying to get the Homie My Chem Frank from My Chemical Romance. It was like one of the goals of the week was get this guy on the show.
B
Yeah.
A
And he left immediately. So he did not stay on the cruise.
B
He's family, man, you know, he's got shit to do.
A
He's got, he's got a, he just did the biggest US tour of all time and now he's got to go. The biggest South American tour of all time. What are you gonna do, know? Yeah, but this was crazy. This was really the first thing I saw on, on the, on the cruise was like hours after 4,000 people board this thing. They, they're all packed onto the pool deck to watch, to watch this set. It was very, very cool. Crazy man. And then, and then now we start wandering. We start doing the like, okay, what is this thing happening?
B
What do we got?
A
Yeah, what do we got?
B
A beautiful, I think, I think we left the port at 7:30. Right. It was in the evening.
A
So the casino was open.
B
The casino was certainly open. I had just gotten done with Japan and although it was very cheap money, you know, I treated it like a vacation. So I, I, I had a. Thank God there was a 24 hour free buffet on this.
A
Everything's, everything can be free on this. It's awesome.
B
It's awesome.
A
The casino was not free.
B
It was not.
A
Doors opened at 7pm By 7:45 I was down $1500. We'll talk later.
B
For the listener, I did not know it was that much.
A
7:45. It was like my whole budget for the trip was gone.
B
Vanished. Yeah.
A
From like three games. It was bullshit. But I'll walk you. There's more to come for that saga.
B
Yeah, there is. I remember.
A
And we'll get there.
B
Alec befriends normies is killing it at the crap table.
A
Oh yeah. Often by himself. I think he more so befriended the, the craps guys.
B
Yeah, yeah, right. We would just, we would hear like shouting and we would look over. He'd be like high fiving strangers. It's awesome.
A
He owned the crafts table. I'm sure he left down like $50.
B
You know, and had a great time.
A
Which for that much time, it ain't about winning. It's about the memories. You make pool kids played later, like an hour later. This. I didn't know what they were.
B
No, same, same.
A
I didn't know. It was like Indy with gratuitous shredding. Dude shredded my ass off. The homie Andy on guitar. Ripping. Here's a quick video I took. Insane.
B
Wow.
A
Unbelievable stuff. Who else we got today?
B
One. Well, one thing I want to point out is these first two days, no chop. Smoothest sailing.
A
Oh, my God.
B
And I was. I was really nervous about getting seasick. I get really motion sick really easily.
A
Yeah.
B
And. And people were saying the whole time, like, it's a huge ship. You're not going to feel it. It's bigger than the fairies. Which is true. It's. It's bigger than any ship I've ever been on. So I was like, oh, I guess. I guess we're fine, dude.
A
Two straight days. I was like, motion sickness is a myth and anybody that's ever complained is the biggest pussy to ever live.
B
But we would.
A
Day three, I was doubled over in agony. I was. I had. I had remedies you never even heard of. I was trying everything under the sun. I was on Etsy looking for witches to figure it out.
B
You had the bands. I had a band.
A
I had behind my ears. I had behind my eyes. I. You wouldn't believe it. It's a. It's real. The sea does not forgive. It was angry and it does not forget. But first two days. So beautiful. Unbelievable.
B
So beautiful. Yeah. And then, and then a kind of you guys. Oh, did. You didn't open up that. That stage, did you? Or you did?
A
No, no. Because I saw pool kids there the night before. But the we. The first night, in my mind, I'm like, all right, I'm not playing. I shouldn't. So if I eat ice cream in within like a one to two day window of singing, my voice disappears.
B
And that's twitching singing.
A
That is just for twitching tongues. And I keep. For some reason, I keep putting that to the test, you know?
B
You really do.
A
I just keep thinking, like, maybe this time will be different. And I'm on a cruise with a. With an unlimited soft serve machine.
B
Soft serve. All night.
A
All night, all day, all day. And I'm thinking, listen, I don't have to sing tonight, right? I gotta sing tomorrow. So if I have early, you know, a cone or two. I should be fine. I went with two. I was not fine. Anything else we saw tonight? Let's see. Who's Joey Eppert? Caught him for a bit. That's the. That's Josh from Coheed's brother. Doing like acoustic type shit. That was crazy. Oh, yeah.
B
I know exactly who that was.
A
The homie. He. He was shredding.
B
Shredding on an acoustic and singing at.
A
The same time by himself. But one of them braver than the seals.
B
For sure. Because we're at sea. I got it really good. I think I went to bed early this night because.
A
First night. Yeah, you were out.
B
I was out because I'm. I did have like that kind of. I had the good jet lag. Yeah. I'm tired at 10pm that's exactly what you want.
A
Yeah.
B
Now what did you do?
A
I went to bed this night early, but I saw I caught some foxing.
B
Huh.
A
Also, if you're watching this right now, we have little mini interviews with several people on here. So we're going to sprinkle them in throughout this episode. We'll let you know when they're coming. And then Puddles Pity Party played this night. Dude, the homie Puddles.
B
Here's a picture of me and Puddles. That he big fucker. Okay. He's like legit. Maybe 610, seven foot.
A
Yeah.
B
For real?
A
Yeah.
B
And I saw him. He played Riot Fest on Weird Al stage. Shocking. But I saw him there and apparently he was really nice. So I didn't talk to him at rfest. Saw him later on in this cruise and just introduced myself and asked for a picture. Taylor likes him, you know, and he was like, beau. Absolutely. Great to meet you. Thank you so much. This is Kat, his manager. Wife, I'm assuming. And I'm Mike. Like, really good to meet you, Mike. Mike. Mike the Clown.
A
Unbelievable, dude. He needs to knock it off with the opera and play for the Miami Heat when he gets back to the shores. Dude, he's tall as fuck.
B
He's great.
A
Beautiful voice, though.
B
Beautiful voice. Can really sing. Didn't you continue your gambling adventure this evening?
A
I sure did. So I say goodnight to everybody around midnight. Good night. As in, I'm going to bed. You won't see me again. I'm not gambling anymore. 12:45, I was back on the casino floor because the clock hit 12, I could withdraw more money. Everybody, Everybody that's been listening to the show for a long time knows I have a $500 daily withdrawal limit.
B
That's it. So what was the service fee on.
A
A 699, it wasn't too bad.
B
Oh, that's not bad at all. Okay.
A
Casinos are like, 25 bucks.
B
Yeah, yeah, totally.
A
So international water is pretty dope.
B
Okay.
A
And I listen. This run I had was like. It was like something divine was intervening. What would you call that?
B
I don't know. Got God, I guess.
A
Yeah. Yeah. And within, I had this beautiful half hour where I kept sitting down on machines, and I was like, I'm only playing machines with one sentinel. I'm not doing this whole choose the denom. Give me. I'm doing Max bet $0.01 Denom, which was usually like five, six, eight bucks maybe.
B
Okay?
A
And I. And I hit every bonus. And I'm playing dog shit. I'm playing games. You wouldn't even look at some off brand. But we're in the sea, and I'm thinking, if these. Nobody's been hitting these, so it's gonna hit. And God did they. I would get 1, 2, 300 at a time until I got to Moneyballs. If anybody's familiar with Moneyballs, you know, you all know Moneyballs, right? Moneyballs is a game where, as you're gambling, you accrue more moneyballs. You have to pop them to get anything, though.
B
Yeah.
A
You sit down at any money balls machine, and it's at five. Five is the lowest it can go. Any more than five, and it's gonna pop pretty soon because they don't go past 10. Normally, I got this fucking thing up to 26. 20, 26 money balls, and it ain't popping. So I walk away. And then I'm like, this is crazy that I'm walking away. And at this point now, I'm probably still down $800, but I'm like, all right, I got 700 back. That's pretty good.
B
It's pretty good.
A
I feel all right, but I'm sick in the head. So I'm walking around, I go to every Moneyballs machine in the casino, and they're all looking. And I checked the same bet I was doing, and they're all at five. And I'm like, I'm leaving. Walking away from this at 26. I'm sick. So I sit back down. Two spins later, hit it. It's over $700 and I'm back to even.
B
You're back?
A
And I, like.
B
The regaling of this tale was longer than my entire Japanese trip.
A
It was. It was an epic journey. What are you gonna do?
B
You know, what are you gonna do? And then you went to bed and Then I went to bed, I got up early and hit the gym.
A
Dude, you, I'm. You were. You were on like superhero time schedule mode on this thing.
B
It was perfect. I was getting up at 6am Yeah.
A
I just did not have that experience.
B
Well, I wouldn't normally, but it's just because I had such a fucked up clock.
A
Right.
B
But I went to the gym. It was empty. Then I would go and eat. I had. Dude, every single day I would have a heap of eggs, a little bit of bacon. A little bit of bacon, and then a slice of honeydew, slice of cantaloupe, a couple slices of pineapple, and a nice coffee.
A
That's how you start your day.
B
Let's stare out at the ocean.
A
And you're like, there's not that many people awake at that time.
B
Dude. There's five people. Although I'll tell you what, dude, there's people drinking already.
A
Oh, there's never stopped drinking.
B
Yeah. Whether they're still up or they. Whatever. You'd go out and there's people sipping and it's just like the.
A
The cafeteria. So like the garden cafe, which was like the buffet. Yeah. Every time you walk in there, there's two ladies singing different variations of washy, washy because they want you to sanitize your hand. And I was up all night. I was. Days later, days later, I'm still thinking of washy, washy, washy, washy. Yeah, Washy, washy. Walking down the street, they.
B
They should have sang I want to hold your hand but wash, I want.
A
To wash your hand. I want to wash your hand. And they're like all Filipino.
B
All Filipino.
A
So they're crushing the vocals.
B
That is actually true. Which is hilarious. Anybody who was singing, who was part of the staff was amazing.
A
Was better than me. Miles better than me. They should have been on this, on the pool, on the sports court stage at 1pm instead of me.
B
So I looked it up. The ship has a capacity of 3300 patrons. Staff, 1100. So for every two people on that ship, there's one staff member.
A
It's unbelievable.
B
And dude, they were working. I want to. Dude, they were working. They were cleaning everywhere all the time. It was spotless. Spotless. Everyone was super nice. I really do want to give them like some credit for just like.
A
I agree.
B
They were fantastic. So they must enjoy the job. I would imagine. But everybody was awesome.
A
Also, this people working the stages.
B
Yep.
A
Were on these makeshift rigs on a boat in the middle of the ocean, in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. Were somehow more prepared for live music than venues that sit there every single.
B
Day and have one place. They don't move. They're not on a ship.
A
They don't move. And everybody had their own in ear.
B
Rigs and they were.
A
Every stage was like, I don't want yours. Can you use mine? And then I would plug it in and it would be perfect and unbelievable. Now if venues could only get on the Norwegian jewels level. Yeah, we'll really be cooking here. You know, the saddest thing about this day, this first day that we played, is that we missed the belly flop competition.
B
We did. That was happening, like, while you guys were setting up.
A
And the pool is small, dude.
B
Yeah, there's two pools and one was closed because it was like the dance floor for the outdoor stage. Right. So it's small and then there's little.
A
There's room for maybe two bellies in there, straight up. And they were flopping. So I wish I could have seen that.
B
Yeah.
A
If you were on the SS Never Ender and you saw the belly flop competition, please let us know.
B
Let us know how that went.
A
So here's first. First set was 1:15pm on the sports court, which was a tennis basketball court.
B
In a net.
A
Like a net cage inside of the sun. Yeah, yeah, we were inside of the sun.
B
We were on a mission into the sun.
A
This was humbling to say the least, because I woke up after eating the ice cream sounding like this. And it was like, here we go, it's over.
B
Because, you know, you guys know how casino air is. You spend a few hours in a casino, you're. You're dry. You sound like this a little bit. You know, cruise ship is like that everywhere regardless.
A
Yeah. And not even in like a derogatory way or in a way that's like a.
B
No, no. It's just. It's just filtered air. Filtered air.
A
It's like a plane. Yeah. So I'm warming up, just thinking to myself, like, I'm ruined. It's over. And this. This stage is so out of the way.
B
Yeah, it's the back of the ship.
A
It's literally the back of the ship on the 13th floor.
B
The highest deck. It's a deck. Yeah, the highest deck you could get to.
A
And it's 1:00pm, you know.
B
Yeah.
A
People are fucked up playing even up yet or they're still fucked up. So we're starting our set here. And I'm in. Mentally, we're in. I'm in hell. I'm like, this is this. I'm in hell. Here. Luckily, Konashi, the Kalis Dow boys, a fellow named Joey from Our Discord, were there front and center the whole time. And the whole time they saved me.
B
I had the luck. The lucky position because, like, this is like going to a festival.
A
Yeah.
B
When you guys are playing and I'm not, it's kind of the worst thing ever, because you don't. I have nothing to do. And I also feel like I'm not really.
A
I bet you during that set you were like, I'm really psyched. I'm not playing this right now, dude.
B
No. I was like, I gotta watch because Taylor needs a tech. So I gotta. Yeah. You know what I mean?
A
I kept. I was trying to keep my sunglasses on the whole set because it was. I was being so blasted by the sun and it just wasn't happening. Mm. They weren't. They meant to fit that way. This was tough. It was brutal. But I think there was a lot. There were a lot. There were a lot of. Most people out there had never heard us before, 100%. So that was that. Overall, and you will see is the overarching thing of this cruise, is the coolest thing, is that we're playing to an audience that knows their favorite band has their favorite bands and their team has hand picked this assortment of music that they think they will enjoy.
B
And that's. That's something else we need to point out about the Coheed Club. You know, they were awesome. Yeah, there's. There's some. There's some goofballs. There's some. You know, it's a cruise. It's what you would expect.
A
It's a cruise and it's a music fandom. But, my God, the Coheed heads did. The Children of the Fence, as they call themselves.
B
Thank you.
A
And I call myself, honestly, some of the most welcoming, accepting, supportive people we've ever played to. Especially after that third set.
B
Yeah.
A
It was like, dude, we're certified Coheed famiglia.
B
Yeah. Yeah. It was. It was really cool. Everyone was. I had. No. I didn't have one like thing.
A
No, not at all. It reminded me of. You ever see that short Gathering of the Juggalos documentary?
B
Of course.
A
One of my favorite things.
B
Peoria, Illinois.
A
Yes.
B
Or some.
A
And I say this with not without a shred of derogatory backing because I think when you watch that, you go, damn, I would like to experience that.
B
Right.
A
And they all, like, genuinely love each other and they don't know each other. It gave me. If the. If Juggalos are Devil on the shoulder. The children of the fence are the angel on the shoulder. You know, Perfect pause there. They're like, hey, we really like you. Your art is really good and we support it. Thank you. Soft Cult played this day for the first time and I found my new favorite band. This is their. It's like shoegaze from Canada. We spent so much time with the four of them throughout this cruise. Unbelievable band. The. Their debut album comes out in January. We talked to them.
B
Yep.
A
And here it is. We are thrilled and honored today to be joined briefly by my new favorite band on earth. We've got Mercedes and Phoenix from Soft Cult. Sup? It was good. Unbelievable. Can you guys tell me about your experience on the cruise thus far?
C
It's been really surreal. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Just like so different from regular touring and now I honestly don't know how I'm just gonna exist in the world and like feed myself on land and take care of myself.
B
Yeah, it doesn't move there.
C
No, no, no. I know, it's crazy. I never thought I'd be like a cruising guy, but I'm like, I might be. I might be into this. I don't know.
A
Do they have cruises in Canada?
C
Apparently they do from Vancouver and like Seattle. Vancouver area. They go out to Alaska.
B
Alaska. I just learned that whale, the whale.
A
If you're watching, please do that in 2027 and get us both back on.
B
That can be the Crowbar cruise or something heavy. It'll only go cold.
A
So you guys have been grinding in bands for 10 plus years now. Soft Cult is, is you personifying making music together with no label, telling you what to do, no creative restrictions. How did this happen? How are you so good? Tell us about starting Soft Cult and where you are now.
C
Well, thank you. First of all, you guys are so good obviously and genuinely my favorite thing about the cruise is just meeting the bands and getting to like bond and all that stuff.
A
Yeah, it's so good.
C
Soft Cult, we are a pandemic band. So we started in 2020, like writing our first album Phoenix learned how to become a producer and engineer. YouTube baby.
B
Yeah, I was going to say YouTube.
A
University, 10 time graduate.
C
It's crazy what you can learn on YouTube, but it's completely like self taught everything. So we just record in our home studio and that's always just kind of been the vibe. We had kind of a crazy label experience when we were younger with a different band. So when we started Soft called, it was like this opportunity to Have a clean slate and, you know, just really dig into the creative side and, like, get back to what we love about being in a band and what we love about writing music and stuff. And then we just got lucky along the way. Like, some. Some cool indie labels have been interested.
A
In stuff, and we.
C
We just try to keep everything really diy. I think that's kind of the secret.
A
Sauce of soft it 100%. Especially after what you guys experienced before.
C
Yeah.
A
With other stuff. We're on a fucking cruise. It's insane.
B
Yeah. What are some. Some highlights of the cruise for you guys?
C
Oh, man. Highlights. I think the first day for me was probably one of my favorites, just because.
B
Yeah.
C
Like, watching a band play on the, like, pool deck or whatever, and you just look out and it's like, oh, my God.
B
We're like, in the water.
C
There's nothing around. That was just crazy. I feel like I've never had that experience before. So.
B
Yeah.
C
First day was probably my favorite.
A
I. I'm.
C
I'm not even just gassing you up because you're sitting right next to me, but watching you guys do the Misfits. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Was a formative experience for me. Like, it's straight up inspired the hell out of me. And I. I. We had this moment where I leaned in. I was watching you perform, maybe like, Halloween or something like that, and I leaned into Phoenix, and I was just like, man, being in a band is.
B
The best thing in the world.
A
That's why we're here. It's amazing.
C
It's. It's truly the best thing we've.
A
All our whole chat was saying the same thing. After watching you guys play, we feel the same.
C
Our hardcore brothers.
A
That's us. We got you now. The whole hard lore world is.
B
And Brity was the one who championed you guys.
A
Yeah. Straight out of.
B
Like, you guys got to watch this band. You got to check this band out. They're so good. So it. It was already there. The.
A
The seed had groove obsession and now a worldwide. Let's see, what do we got left? Okay. Debut lp, January.
C
Ooh, good memory. This. See, these were all talks, but maybe because you are, like, the sober one of the group.
B
You remember everything.
A
I was talking to Chad Crooner last night. It wasn't really.
C
I don't remember anything from that. I'm so sorry, Chad Crooner. That wasn't me, I think has forever damaged your soul. My psyche. Yeah, yeah.
B
Yeah.
C
The debut album comes out January 30th. It's called When a Flower Doesn't Grow. It is a concept album and we wrote it. I think it's like literally the story of Soft Cult in a lot of ways, but also just us as people. Like, it's very like the idea is that you can't grow and flourish in an environment that is confining you or oppressing you. And so there's a lot of metaphors in there from like personal growth, but also just culturally and as a society and stuff like that. Like you have to find environments where you can find flourish and you have the opportunity to flourish. And if you can't, then you have to change it. Yeah, then those environments have to change. Yeah.
A
Beautiful.
C
But yeah, it's coming out. It's completely self produced, self recorded. Phoenix did all the artwork for it.
A
And you help shoot the videos.
C
I do the videos, yeah. She directs them and shoots them.
A
What can't they do?
C
YouTube. This is basically a YouTube commercial.
B
Yeah, straight up.
A
What kind of cameras you run for that?
C
I use a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K. It was the best one that I could afford. But they look pretty good. They're pretty cinematic and it's all about the lens, not so much about the.
A
Body as we all know. What's your daw of choice?
B
My daw?
C
I use Logic Pro X.
A
So yeah, pretty good.
B
Pretty cool.
C
I've tried other stuff. Like I've tried Ableton and stuff before.
A
And I'll get it. Too many shapes. Too many shapes. Maybe.
C
Maybe it looks better now back then.
A
It just looks so gross. I like the logic. Ableton's all triangles and circles and. Yeah, I feel.
C
But yeah, just logic. And then for like an interface I've got. What is it? Universal Audio, Apollo Twin and that thing rocks. Yeah, it's sick.
B
It's awesome.
C
Yeah, all the like amp sims and.
B
Stuff that you can get.
C
Yeah, they actually sound little bit a same. It's so good.
A
So that's it. You can literally just get all the same stuff right now for Sweet water from where? The Sweetwater Lake. And then you can do all that stuff. It's unbelievable, I have to say. Guys on a cruise full of Prague and heavy stuff and a clown that Sool hit like what? I can only imagine crack. It's like. So thank you guys for playing us. Thank you for being so cool.
B
We love you guys. Thanks.
C
Thanks for being our friends, being great fan searching tons.
B
Hell yeah.
A
It is what it is. Soft Cult. Unbelievable. Check him out right now, please.
B
Bye.
A
Okay, I'm here with the other half of Soft Cult. Boys, can you please Introduce yourselves. What up? I'm Phil. I'm the bass player of Soft cult. I'm Brent McSwiggin and I play guitar and softco.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
The unsung heroes. Tone Masters. That's right. I was entranced yesterday at just how good you sounded, how locked in you were. You were letting those licks fly left and right. Unbelievable. You were shredding like you're on the Swiss Alps. Oh, yeah, we try our best.
B
I feel like Phil's definitely the most.
A
Entertaining out of the whole show. Yeah, you were ripping, dude.
B
Yeah.
A
I feel like I just kind of.
B
Like lose control of the body, you.
A
Know what I mean? I get on stage sometimes, it's kind of like. You ever play that, like the QWERTY.
B
Game where you run?
A
I feel like that's like trying to control my body.
B
What, for a band like this when you're at home? What amps are you guys using normally? Honestly, the same ones. Okay, good. So what is it?
A
For myself, I've got a little Victory Duchess. It's like a somewhat of a hybrid between, like a amp modeler, but also just a head.
B
But it has power.
A
Yeah, it's got like a cab sim on the back. You can.
B
Oh, beautiful.
A
Do up to like six different presets on it. And I just picked whatever one I thought sounded.
B
And he's got tunes in the pream, so It's.
A
It's an 180 watts too, which is just like, so unnecessary.
B
180 with 2 power is crazy. What about you, baseman?
A
And I've started using a dark glass.
B
BK 7500 or whatever. It's.
A
I had the. Like the. The pedal board version, like just the preamp. And I loved it so much.
B
I was like, I just have to get. Get the big version.
A
Yeah. And it's 500 watts and it's like, punishing.
B
Dark glass is good. That's a hardware manufacturer who makes quad cortex. Oh, same guy.
A
Oh, no way. Did not know. What's your favorite frat? I'm gonna go 11, because, dude, 11.
B
Is two in a day.
A
It's.
B
It's right before you hit the octave. You know what I mean?
A
So I feel like it's a little unsung because that's the thing. My favorite is 6 on the A, which is 11, 6 on the A, which is eleven. Because that's the highest you can go without them jumping that off.
B
Isn't Black Sabbath open 6 on A and then B or whatever.
A
Yeah. And what's that one movie they're always talking about going to 1111 final. Finally.
B
What about you?
A
I think for me, if we're talking standard tuning, we are. My favorite would be the sixth fret on the A. On the A. Yeah. So.
B
How about that?
A
It's. I'm loving August 6 11E5. That's the best.
B
We always talk about how, like, the ultimate tuning probably. Probably is for sure.
A
Yeah. Like.
B
Oh, it feels great. It feels good. So C sharp. Standard is probably my man.
A
Yeah.
B
He can get away with the same time. Drop C sharp, too.
A
That's money. A lot of clean songs, I think, are in Drop.
B
C sharp.
A
Drop cm. That's good. And Brent has, like, perfect pitch. For real. I've heard it. The kind where it's like you can just.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
And so I feel like he knows.
B
What the good key is.
A
You know, I mean, like, that's all involved.
B
Yeah. You know how.
A
You know how, like, some people can.
B
Like, see colors in people?
A
For me, it's almost like I can feel, like, different emotions, your music, synesthetic, different keys, basically.
B
Yeah. Well, why don't we just test that?
A
Do. Oh, all right. Do it. Do it. Let's hear it.
B
Tell me what note this is.
A
That's C, dude. The guy's an animal.
B
Not even. No hesitation.
A
Respect. He'll be like, on an airplane and be like, the engine's rumbling, like, just below. Ian. It's killing me. Like.
B
Can I give you one more? Yeah.
A
Some call it perfect pitch. Some call it mental illness.
B
No, this is sick.
A
I'm gonna get this one wrong.
B
I don't know if that was. Whoa.
A
That sounds like.
B
Like an A minor.
A
Dude. Softball is the greatest man in the world. He's a real musician.
B
I've never met anybody who could do that.
A
Ariana Grande.
B
I feel like. I feel like people could get C.
A
The piano player, the first one.
B
They could get C and minor on a pad. I gave him kind of a tricky one. It wasn't like a note. Yeah.
A
And he'll, like, restring his guitar and then just tune it without, like, no tune or nothing. Just go on stage.
B
I can do that, but only because it's the same tuning we've ever done for 15 years. But. But you know what?
A
It's supposed to sound like. You guys like hardcore music. Could you. And you can take your time. Tell us a couple of your favorite hardcore records ever.
B
Yeah, I mean, if I were to.
A
Put one right at the top, this is going to sound funny, but Nails Abandoned All Life. It's my favorite record of all time. And Loki, I Would probably say you'll.
B
Never be one of those.
A
Yeah.
B
I love Abandoned All Life.
A
That's.
B
That's my pick.
A
Yeah, man, I heard you warming up with. Is that soon? Qj.
B
Yeah.
A
Go to Drift. I feel like. Yeah. Such, like, an influential record on, like, when I first started playing in, like, some hardcore bands back in the of the day. Like, that was on Top Half Heart, Backtrack. Come back, kid. Anything.
B
But.
A
Yeah, come back, kid. And they're Canadian.
B
They are Canadian.
A
They're Beethoven. Yeah, man, you're mo.
B
Because Beethoven couldn't.
A
Sorry, what was that?
B
No, no, no.
A
You were with me, right? You got me. He always gets me. Well, J, man, I feel like there's just, like, such, like, a cool aspect to hardcore that maybe, like, not a lot of other genres have.
B
It's the only one like it.
A
The sense of community. Like, I just met y', all, like, a couple of days ago, and it feels like.
B
Yeah, for, like, ever. If the umbrella just is like diy, punk rock, it all falls under that. You know what I mean? Everything we do falls under that. There's nothing else like that in the world. No, no.
A
And so few genres, I feel like, are, like, so scary from the outside and so, like, just mental and welcoming from the inside. Like, it is the best soft cult. The best. Thank you guys so much for joining us. Thank you so much.
B
Thank you. Should we do one more?
A
Being on?
B
He's two for two. Yeah. Unbelievable.
A
Just do it until failure, brother.
B
Absolutely.
A
Blowing my mind. One more.
B
Okay, hold on. Let me pick. Let me think of one.
A
All right. All right. Let me get into my zone.
B
Get into your zone. Right? Ready? It's going to be a pad again. E minor.
A
Minor. The man. The man's literally gone.
B
He's a champ, dude.
A
He's gone.
B
This is. This is my favorite thing. Yeah.
A
Wow. Absolutely. So if you guys want to, like, jam or something, you guys pick a kid.
B
Crack.
A
He's cracked. It's not even fair. They're going to be the biggest fan in the world. Thank you all for watching.
B
The guitar player who doesn't sing has perfect pitch.
A
He does. I mean, he sings back. Back, back up.
B
Not the. Yeah. Three out of three times he picked the. That's unbelievable to me.
A
It is.
B
What a skill.
A
So look out for that record coming out soon. Very excited about that. Also this day on the sports court, right after us. I had to stay and rep for Kaoundashi after what they did for me. And here's some words from Pete. Could you give yourself a nice intro Tell us who you are and what you do. Hi, my name is Peter Rono. I sing in a band called Konashi. We're from Philadelphia, and we're on SS Never Ender right now. That's right.
B
That's right.
A
You're back on the SS Never Ender.
B
Oh, this is a return.
A
Yeah, we played 2023 and we got that email to play 2025, so we back.
B
What do. And was there even a deliberation, or were you guys just like, yeah, we're going.
A
Yes, we're free. And then we looked at the schedule. We're like, thank God we're free between cruises. Tell me about people who saw you at the first one and came to see you again. It's like, we play a lot of random places and, like, a lot of just heavy shows and, like, basements and stuff like that. But the Kohi people come to those, and they're just like, what is going on? Oh, cool. I saw you at the cruise. And then they, like, just go to the craziest shows at, like, Ren's Den or something like that in Albuquerque. So Shout out, Gun game. But it's been awesome just seeing the Koi. People don't care about anything. They just want a good show. So when they see someone like us or, like, twitching tongues, they're just like, what happened? You know what I mean? They're just mind blowing.
B
They're music fans.
A
They come here to see their favorite band and then to see something new.
B
Which they know was curated by their favorite. By their favorite, which is sick. That's a cool thing.
A
Like, we always showed our obsession with Cody Cambrian, the band from, like, day one. You remember when we played together in 2018? I do. You remember when I said to you. Wait, no. What'd you say? I said, you guys sound like Coheed. Oh, you did? Yeah. I said, I hear Kohi parts. You told me that.
B
Yeah.
A
Oh. And you were like, oh, my God, we do. We love Cody because we just have been like, that's my favorite band. That's Pale's favorite band. Alex's favorite band of all time. So it. I'm just glad that we're able to be part of the community. Yeah, it's awesome. Could you tell me some cruise highlights this time around? I won $23 in the casino. 23. That's a high. You'll never forget Jackie from Cow's Down Boys. Jackie showed me how the machine worked. Like, you just put the five in and you just press the button. Yeah. And then it lined up. Sometimes money comes out.
B
You win every time.
A
Sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't come out. So I won big. And then I took the voucher over, and then I was like, well, let me try again. Maybe I'll win more. But then I lost $10. So I got some wings from the buffet, and it was. But that were free because.
B
And the buffet's been pretty good.
A
Yeah, it was.
B
Was it better last. The last time or this time?
A
It was better last time. I think that was, like, me just being so that I'm on this boat. Yeah. Like, last year, the last cruise after claimed my set, I just walked over to the artist lounge and I got a New York strip steak and some roasted red pepper something. I just sat and ate it and looked out at the ocean. I was like, what am I doing on your favorite band's cruise? My favorite. That's beautiful. Oh, that's another highlight. I was at the casino, and 4:30 in the morning, I'm just sitting there, and I hear from behind me, hey, Peter. I was like, who's that? It was Claudio. Wow. And he dapped me up and just kept walking. He's down with Kanashi like that. He's down with first name basis Brown. I couldn't believe it. Shout out Coe to Cambria. And he got some shorts and a hat.
B
Did it.
A
Kanashi Merch. That's what's up. That was another highlight, to be honest. Like, everything, all of it has just been crazy. Yeah. Perfect. He played great sets. Multiple great sets. Thank you. Thank you. We were at the buffet, and I, like, set a sentence that, like, I had to stop and think about what I just said. I was like, oh, I'm gonna meet y' all at the steakhouse. I'm gonna do a part with the Fall of Troy. Then I was like, what am I even talking about? Because I sang with them. Like, I sang on stage with them. I'm like, I'll go eat steaks with y' all after I sing with the Fall of Choice. Pretty cool, dude. So it's been a. Troy is back, dude. It's back up. It's back and better than ever. Unbelievable. It's been amazing. Could you tell. Could you do something crazy for me? Yes. Could you tell me? And you can take as much time as you need. Your top four hardcore records of all time. You know, I listen to hard lore all the time. You were ready washing dishes, and now.
B
I'm like, that's what happens, huh? Well, edit it.
A
Say, when the smoke clears my foundation.
B
Great. Answer that.
A
Oh, walking Disease. My Trash talk.
B
Okay.
A
Yeah, that, like, changed my life. Okay. Ronald Park, My Ceremony.
B
And then the fourth one.
A
Listen to, like, all the time. Yeah. Street Prowl.
B
There you go.
A
Because, like, that's when I found all that was. Yeah, that's one.
B
Condenser time.
A
Yeah.
B
And Staples of that time found Trash Talking Ceremony first.
A
And then I was just like, well, I guess California has all the best bands. So I just kept listening to everything from there, you know?
B
Know. There you go.
A
Yeah, but foundation was, like, number one. I don't know what it was about that album. I saw them play at the church with a Comeback Kid and Rock Bottom open.
B
Oh, I saw that tour.
A
I was like, dude, this is the. Oh, good, good, good, good. It was a rough one. That's what I said. I said. I said, great tour. Those are the four. Foundation Route, Trash Talk, Salon.
B
Good Answers.
A
Oh, hold on. Hit me. Honorable mention. I don't know how this wasn't the first one. Secrets of the World. Oh, yeah. Masterpiece. Yeah. That was amazing. All right, Peter, thank you so much for joining us. Hope you had fun on the cruise. It was. It was nice getting to hang out.
B
With you for a few days.
A
Unbelievable. What a guy. Comedic legend. Brilliant. Love him. The most insane voice you've ever heard in your whole life.
B
I believe I went to bed again, like. Or. We all napped, didn't we? This was kind of.
A
No, this was nap day for sure. We watched KOHED tonight together.
B
That's right. So we took a nap.
A
Yeah.
B
And then we all got dinner.
A
Yeah.
B
Right. And then it was. I saw Coheed for the first time.
A
And then Bo saw Coheed with me. Boheed? We watched from the Muppets box.
B
Yeah, we were.
A
Yeah, that was us heckling positively through that set. And this is. This is not. This is technically, like, the first real night of the. Of the cruise at sea. Beautiful experience. They played all of good Apollo on Burning Star 4, which is their third album. Played the whole thing front to back. Unbelievable.
B
Which for the uninitiative, that's like the record.
A
It's the major label debut and the. The real breakout record. Sounds insane. It's. Everybody knows. Welcome home from Fortnite and Guitar Hero.
B
I knew that one.
A
And here it is. What'd you think of the set?
B
The musicianship is crazy.
A
Crazy.
B
Dude, we'll get into. Into. Into Claudio in a little bit. Yeah, I. What I really took away was watching the crowd because it's a theater. It's a seated theater with a really small standing room pit. No One's moshing or anything. Nobody's not that kind of thing.
A
Everybody knows every word.
B
So everybody knows every word and is like on key.
A
Yeah.
B
And I'm just watching.
A
He's on every time.
B
Every time. And I'm watching. I'm just like, damn. Like, yeah, they got fans.
A
Like 20 of the room is weeping.
B
You know, I really, I. I dug it. I told you by the end of this, like, okay. I think I needed to give Kohin a fair shake. Still feeling that way. Deep dive.
A
That's what's up.
B
Yeah, they were really good and watching. Dude. It's so funny that like he starts the set singing a song that's almost acapella. It's him and an acoustic and the other guys are doing backups. And then he switches to a double headed sg.
A
And then by the end of the song is soloing behind. Behind his neck on the sg. Soloing on a double neck guitar.
B
Behind your head.
A
Behind that head. That. That big old hair.
B
He got ahead. Yeah. And it's funny too because I remember when they started his. His hair was wet so it was very flat. And I was like, oh, okay.
A
He.
B
And then 10 seconds in, he was.
A
Kenny Omega, you know.
B
Yeah.
A
He was working wet brother. Unbelievable.
B
And that was awesome. Then I believe I went to bed.
A
You were out. I watched Thursday on the pool deck.
B
That's right. Oh, I went. I watched a little bit. I watched three songs.
A
Yeah. I'd never seen him before. This is when there's this video of Alex singing along is one of the funniest things I've. Kyla took this video. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life because he's. It's so synced perfectly and. And Jeff sounds so much like Alec.
B
Huh.
A
That it's straight up ventriloquism. Here it. Wow.
B
It's very heartfelt.
A
It's insane.
B
Very heartfelt.
A
Perfect. Yeah. I couldn't believe it.
B
Pretty cool.
A
Monday was Mexico day.
B
Oh. So we changed. It was supposed to be sale, sale, Mexico, sale, sale. We changed the order of things because of bad weather. So the Mexico day happened earlier. So I knew that Cozumel, the island of Cozumel is actually the first location that Grialva on the second expedition to the new World. And then eventually Cortez on the third expedition which, you know, took over the continent, landed in Cozumel first. So there's a history thing going on there. I was like, well, you got to go. I got to go. We're going To. We're going to talk to Claudio at like 3:34 o'clock or something.
A
So that day that, that. That's breaking news right there. That day we talked to Claudio.
B
We did.
A
We did two plus hours with Claudio. And I'm freaking out about that. So I'm like, you go, I gotta. I gotta lock the fuck in.
B
Yeah.
A
And write notes for two or three hours, you know, so.
B
So I. I walked. I walked, you know, into the little area. It's a total tourist trap kind of thing. Walked towards some lighthouse that I thought looked interesting and it was fine. As I'm walking back, I'm literally thinking to myself, like, okay, a cab ride to the Mayan ruins. Sangri San Gervasio is a 50 each way. So a hundred dollars round trip. And that sucks. And I'm sure I could barter and try and, you know, but I don't really want to do that. And then there were the guys handing out these scooter things. Maybe I could get a scooter. I don't really know how to do that. Like, it's, you know, are they going to scam me? Whatever. As I'm thinking this, Alex zooms by me on a scooter.
A
Yeah.
B
And just goes, bo. And pulls over. And I'm like, where did you get this? How much was it? And he was like, oh. This guy told me how much it was for the whole day. It was 50 bucks plus gas. So I went to where, exactly where he went. And I talked to him. I said, I only needed for four hours. How's 30 bucks? I said, yeah, all right. So I talked him down. The moment he handed me the keys, the moment they were in my hand. Downpour. Yeah. Like an island. Tropical island. Newman leaving Jurassic Park. Crazy downpour. And then I'm like, all right. So I run into a 711 real quick before I take off and I grab a poncho. I bought a poncho, dude.
A
A poncho in Mexico, but a rain. Unbelievable.
B
Yeah, I know, but still, still I put my. I put my arm through it. My elbow rips. The whole thing, the whole back is ripped open. Perfect. So I get on it, it stopped raining, it was fine. And then I just start zooming and I put in my. Oh, dude. I did the. You know, throttle's on the right, brake is on the left. I did the thing where I sat down and the brake on the left is the front wheel. So I. I did the throttle and I'm immediately doing the, like, oh, Almost crashed into a car in front of the rental guy. Im like right off the rip. And I literally used that embarrassment for the rest of my day to not do that again. And then I.
A
It's good. That's good fuel.
B
And then I did like, it was a half hour each way. I did a half hour ride of my first time ever on like a Vespa. It was a Honda, but straight through the jungle ruckus. It was, it was not. I don't know what it was, but I was just zooming through the jungle with my headphones on. It was fucking awesome.
A
Beautiful.
B
I got to the ruins, took some pictures. It was a little. It wasn't that crazy or anything, but it was cool. I'm glad I did it. Did the same thing back. Got back. The guy was so mad. He was checking every inch. He was so disappointed that there wasn't something to scam me for.
A
Yeah.
B
Because I was careful.
A
I mean, the area is clearly a tourist trap, but like big tourists one or two blocks in and it's. And it's fucking sick and beautiful.
B
Yeah.
A
I walked around with Steven for a bit.
B
Yeah.
A
Which was awesome because he's insane. He was. Dude, he was wearing Crocs, so he was slipping and sliding everywhere. I would get 10 steps ahead of him and I just hear like, oh. And I look back and he was like, oh. And the whole time he was like, soon as we get back, man, I'm getting rid of these crocs. Sorry, Stephen. We ate at a taco place. I pet a cat. It was beautiful.
B
Nice.
A
And then as we're walking back to the ship, we run into Blaze, Zach from Coheed, and Matt Pinfield. And I'm wearing it into another shirt and Matt Pinfield, the MTV guy is like, I like that. Into another shirt, man. So my mind is made on Matt Penfield now. Yeah, he rocks. He knows ball. He's. He's good. He's. He's all right. Matt Penfield certified. That's all it takes.
B
So I get back, have to change out of my rained soaked stuff, shower, we eat real quick, and then we go up to Claudio's suite.
A
I had this beautiful conversation.
B
It like, obviously we can't talk about it too much because we want you guys to watch it next week. But I came up, this is when after the interview. Oh, I came away and I said to Colin, I think I got to check out Coheed some more. Because my appreciation for his like, love and creativity. Yeah, yeah, it's, it's.
A
You'll all see, it's incredible.
B
But now, what did he say about your shirt?
A
I think he. So the first thing that was. He. That was the first thing he referenced as well. He was like, oh, wow. Into another shirt. And I was like, damn, that was one of my questions. And he made it. I think they get compared to. Into another.
B
I could see it. I could see it a little bit.
A
And I don't know that he thinks that they sound the same. I couldn't get a read on if he likes them, but he's aware, so that was cool.
B
Pretty cool.
A
That's all I need to know. I've wanted to know that since the day I heard either band, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Truly, truly unbelievable conversation. That was one of two episodes, two full episodes we got while we were there. LS Dunes played again. This is their second set.
B
Okay.
A
Speaking of L students, that's our. That is our beautiful second episode that we got.
B
Yeah.
A
We had another two plus hours with Anthony Green. First time.
B
Yep.
A
Unreal.
B
Cathartic.
A
Yeah.
B
Deep, heavy.
A
We talk about everything.
B
Is so honest and good. So good.
A
Just best guy ever.
B
Yeah.
A
So supportive, so real. So talented. And my God. So next week, Claudio. Week after that, Anthony. Surprise, motherfuckers. Okay. And then this was Twitch Fitz night.
B
Now, listen, as an outsider, right, I watched you win over a cruise ship. Yeah. You know what I mean?
A
Yeah.
B
And witness the beauty that is Glenn Danzig's Misfits. Plus Witness.
A
Yeah.
B
How unifying this band is. Yeah.
A
Yeah. It's crazy. I saw.
B
I watched people in every direction singing along and knowing the words. All walks of life, all different types of people.
A
And so this was not announced. It was teased heavily throughout the day by the crews. They kept saying, Twitching Tongues will be doing a special set at midnight.
B
Yeah.
A
So we're. This is the same day we're talking, Claudio, for two hours. You're in Mexico driving around a fucking tarp. I'm losing my mind downstairs writing this interview, trying not to freak out. And then Tyler, I have to mention, Tyler from 6 Man, the most helpful person to maybe ever live, whose whole role is basically just catering to any band complaining about something or that needs anything at any time. He responds in one second, and he's like, I'm on it.
B
Yeah.
A
He asked, are you guys doing makeup for the set? And I was like, I'd like to, but I didn't bring anything.
B
Yeah.
A
And he's like, give me five minutes. And he sets me up with a young lady named Jenny from the Six man production. She's also super sweet, super helpful. She's like, okay, I've done some Juggalo paint before, so this will be easy while we're. You know, she's not a professional, but she does a great job. But while she's doing it, she thins the black paint with hand sanitizer and. Listen, Jenny, I'm not. I don't blame you if you're listening. It's okay. We didn't know and made it. So later during the set, about three songs before the ending, the makeup is finally just, like, dissipating, running, becoming. And then I'm like, oh, I feel some makeup in my eyeballs. And that's not the first time that's happened, of course. So I'm like, okay, this is. This is normal. And then I'm like, oh, I can only see sheets of white. Like, I'm seeing clouds. Like, it looks like. Like Jack the Ripper fog, you know, like what you think he saw.
B
Yeah.
A
And people are talking to me after, and I'm just seeing shapes. Being like, you're only shapes to me right now. But thank you so much. I can't see who this is.
B
Literally heard you say that to someone.
A
Like, I. You're a shadow. But I really appreciate it. And I don't know. I'll talk about going to bed in a second, because I was horrified in that moment.
B
But, yeah, let's talk about the set. I. When I introed, we did a little prank and, yeah. Pretended like twitching couldn't play so we would have the twitch fits play. I realized you had your ears on, so you were just hearing me talk.
A
Oh, crystal clear.
B
It's really funny to think it's really.
A
The best part of singing with ears is people singing along. Because when somebody hits notes, dude.
B
Oh, yeah. You're probably. Oh, my God. It's like a dbz, like, ah. Moment.
A
It's amazing.
B
Yeah, you get powered up when they're bad.
A
It's the. Even better.
B
It's even better. Yeah, yeah.
A
But, yeah, dude, this set was awesome. And I think I scraped by with what little voice I had.
B
Well, you did smart things. You would do the low harmony. You would hand the mic out at key moments. Who is the guy right up front?
A
He's Kalinashi's merch guy.
B
Holding it the fuck down.
A
He was my hero. He saved me. He was. He had a misfits, like, whole upper sleeve.
B
Okay, cool.
A
So he was ready. He came with his mask. That was crushing it.
B
I needed. He was crushing it. I mean, everybody knew every word who was up front, which was awesome. I was Staged left just, like, losing it. That was the first time I got to see the twitch fits, which is hilarious.
A
That's true.
B
What a. What a venue, dude.
A
Us locking. I made sure when the Ghouls Night out key change part happened, that we were just. Just locked in eye contact. Shape contact.
B
Yeah.
A
Synced up, enjoying that beautiful moment together. Yeah, that was really cool. And because of that, there was a lot of people who had never heard us that were like, oh, I gotta go see this band's normal song. Normal song when they play next time.
B
The buzz.
A
The cruise was buzzing for the tongue, dude, it was awesome. So that was. That was a great night. I got back to my room in panic, took a shower, wiping shit off my eyes, and I'm laying in bed with a sheet of white still over my eyes. And I'm not the one to make a big deal out of stuff, you know?
B
Yeah.
A
I'm a pretty casual freaker outer.
B
Okay.
A
You know, I silently Stewart. And if I'm freaking out, I'm gonna be like, hey, man, this is.
B
Yeah, that's okay. Okay.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
But I'm not telling anybody that I'm. I've. And you hear about people going blind, right? And you start to think. You start to think it's crazy that that can just happen. It just happens to some people.
B
Sometimes. You get.
A
And what if getting hand sanitizer in your eyes can do that? These are the things I'm going through.
B
What is the purpose of the hand sanitizer? Like, what did she say?
A
She thinned it. It was really thick paint.
B
Okay.
A
And she. To get it on, she needed to be thinner. I guess water or the setting spray right next to us wasn't enough. The hand sanitizer had to do it. So I go to bed, I wake up, eyes crusted over. It secreted from within me overnight, and I was fine. Okay, so use hand sanitizer to thin your face paint. It'll be great. And if it gets in your eyeballs, you'll just secret it out overnight. It's perfect. Now we're on today. There are two Tuesday. This thing's flying by, huh?
B
Yeah. Flying by.
A
Yeah, The Kalis Down Boys played at the pool deck at noon. I caught that whole set, and then we talked to two of them right here.
B
What's your name? What do you do?
A
I'm Carson. I sing for the Kalis Cowboys. How's the cruise been for you so far? It's been good, man. It's been weird. I. I think that I'm not really built for cruises.
B
No one else say more.
A
I, I don't know, man. The ship rocking. It got to you the other night. Didn't start getting to me. I was like this, this guy come. I got my sea. Like did you get your shoelace? I Eventually. But I was in the casino with Christine from Pool kids and both of us started leaning the same way and I started freaking out a little bit. That was crazy. I don't think I could do this for more than five days. Yeah, this was, this was the perfect amount of time. Perfect amount of time. Also perfect lineup of bands. I agree. I think that the vibe was curated a certain way to be like heavy. Not heavy. Heavy, not heavy. Yeah. And, and the audience responded really spelled really well to that. Yeah, no, I think that we got a great response which I was surprised.
B
I think the patrons of the, the Coheed crews are truly music fans.
A
Yes. That's, that's what I've noticed.
B
Doesn't really matter what it is.
A
That's. I, I think that's the coolest part is they have a very open minded fan base which, which we need. You really do. You're wild, man. Blew my mind. You got electric violin. You're like the, my dying bride of, of, of modern metal core. What would you call it? I, I don't know. I, I hesitate to throw any sort.
B
Of like.
A
Twitter's gonna yell it. You're all, you're many things and it's. That's what it's all about. I mean I usually just say we're a rock band. You're singing. You're singing beautifully. You're singing beautifully. Sometimes not beautifully. Yeah. Yeah. Again, Electric violin. Spin kicking. She's doing crazy.
B
It's crazy.
A
The idea for the violin like came from no other band though. Like it was just. We heard My dying. Brian. No, I'm gonna be honest with you. You gotta check him out. Okay. All right. All right. Watch the Dynamo set. Dynamo. My dying. About, about 40 seconds in. Let me know what happens in. Okay.
B
You're gonna. Really?
A
Yeah. That sounds sick. Any cruise highlights for you? Cruise highlights? Watching foxing play two sets before they are taking a little break. That was awesome. Or a big break. I don't know. I don't know. Watching you guys at. What was it like?
B
Sports court. It was in the oven.
A
Johnny Blaze. It was super hot. Honestly. World War 5 on the sports court. Big highlight. It was lit, dude. It was awesome. I saw Coheed for the first time in a decade. How crazy crazy is that? So I, I, it's like, it's crazy to see how different things are, but how much they are the same. Still goated. Still goated, man. Still such a great band. Like, I. I'm not super familiar with the newer stuff. I just watched them play a set that was majority newer stuff and I.
B
Was like, these are great songs.
A
These are great songs.
B
That was the casino for you.
A
I don't gamble. Good for you I I am just like I in the same way, like, I don't drink. Like, I think if I started gambling, like, no, I'm not. I'm California. California sober. Cocaine and weed only. Understand? I don't do cocaine anymore either.
B
We got it. We got it.
A
Can you tell me your favorite hardcore records of all time? Oh, Jesus Christ. The first E Town record. The second E Town record. Nice. Good answers. What's the. What's the. A Renaissance. Renaissance. So that would be the third record?
B
Yeah.
A
That record's incredible. Perseverance. Yeah, I can't. I can't think of one immediately. Just, just Hot damn. By Every time I knock out great.
B
Counts three that counts for sure. 100% foreman for sure.
A
Yeah, sure. There you go. I I so E town etown hate brain E town etown hate breed Every.
B
Time I die okay, that works.
A
Thank you, Carson. Perfect. Thank you. New album out now. Appreciate you guys. Maybe they'll be on the next cruise too. I hope so. We got Jackie from Calisto boys here. You play bass? I do dunnable bass.
B
Dunnable bass.
A
Love to see it. Wow, Great set. Yesterday on the pool.
B
Thank you.
A
I appreciate that. Tell me how the cruise has been treating you so far. It's been really interesting in like the coolest way ever. I never thought I'd be able to like, experience anything like this. Like growing up, roughing it. Spin kicking on a cruise.
B
Spin kicking in on a cruise.
A
I got accosted by a security guard for it.
B
Really?
A
Told me to watch my feet. Watch your feet or else he'll eject me from the venue.
B
I'm sorry. Watch your head. That was actually karma.
A
Thank you. It was. Yeah. Thanks for being there. I'll always be your mosh mornings, man. I appreciate it. Tell me about what the cows downloads have been like this year. You had a new record? It's insane.
B
Yeah, we sure did.
A
We just dropped it in May.
B
Hardest we've ever worked on a record. I think it's the best thing we've.
A
Ever written so far. Probably is going to be the best.
B
Thing we've ever written.
A
Yeah. The next one's not going to Top it. Well said. Can you tell me your four favorite hardcore records of all time? Four favorite hardcore records. Okay. If God Only Knew.
B
The Rest are Dead by Disembodied. Wow. When Forever Comes Crashing by Converge. Good answer. Hardcore for Hardcore by the Rival Mob.
A
Wow.
B
Good answer. And one with the Underdogs. It's got to be one with the underdog.
A
That's the. That's the hardcore record.
B
Top Wrestlers.
A
Go. All right. This is way easier.
B
Rvd, Jeff Hardy, Ray Mysterio.
A
You love High Gobashi.
B
Wow. Wow.
A
Deep cut. Yeah.
B
Good answers.
A
Thank you so much.
B
Strong. Of course. Thank you.
A
See you soon.
B
Nicest. Like, one of the nicest groups of people I've ever met. I. I had not met them prior, but I was aware of them. Taylor knows a couple of them, like, well, and just the nicest group.
A
Their new records, popping off, crushing right now. They're set like, everybody knew them on here. This was not like, a unknown band to them, which was really cool. The electric violin player is so cool. She's doing spin kicks and shit while they're playing. She. They have never heard My Dying Bride, you know?
B
Yeah.
A
Which they got to do. That was, like, the. The first thing I said talking to any of them was like. That was crazy. Have you heard My Dying Bride? You got to listen to my dying.
B
You got to check out this Dynamo set.
A
Specifically, please. So that was awesome. Very good. Little conversation with them. Watch pool, kids again at the pool, if you can believe it. This is when we did the Anthony interview. So we were tied up for quite a while.
B
Yeah, a few hours.
A
Spent a few hours writing that as well. Got that done.
B
We went to chat, and then we went to Hibachi.
A
Dude, that. Yeah. Straight into.
B
Straight to Hibachi. So we went straight from Anthony Green into Hibachi, Something that Tyler did, which I think they did for everybody. Everybody got, like, kind of. Because there were restaurants on the ship that were not, like, included. But as for artists, you got, like, a gift certificate, essentially, for your party to go and blah, blah, blah. So this is one of the ones that we picked as a group. And I love Hibachi. It's one of my favorite things.
A
I've never really done it. And I had a blast, man.
B
The whimsy, the magic, the homie. The homie, yeah. Just right there. Compliments to the chef, which is you.
A
I was calling out one during. While we were playing. I called out the Hibachi guys because I saw a couple of them looking over.
B
Oh, really?
A
And they seems like that was Cool.
B
Hell, yeah. That was really good. And then I just. I want to thank Tyler again. He got me, because I talk about my back on the show, and I know you're listening, so I want to thank you personally, like I did in person. But again, he got me a massage.
A
Yeah.
B
He got me a gift certificate for a massage on the street.
A
How good was that massage?
B
They have a whole spa on the front of the ship or back of the ship that is, like. It's huge, and it's so nice. I got a hot stone massage. I got all the fixings.
A
Oh, you did the hot stone?
B
I did the hot stone. And I added foot, hand, and eye treatment.
A
Oh, yeah, I did that, too.
B
Which. That was all cool. It was great. I. I, like. I told you, the gal who did my massage was, like, 4, 10, 100 pounds. And there were times where, like, through the thing, I'm looking down, and I could. I could see her feet lifting off the ground as she's, like, pushing onto my back. And then at the end, she was even like, sorry, I couldn't quite get something. You know, I'm pretty tiny. I was like, hey, sometimes, you know, massages, there's, like, two styles. There's, like, hurt me because I need it. And then also just, like, I want to relax. So I did that one. I did the relaxed one.
A
I did the deep tissue, hoping that they would cure me.
B
Basically, just of all ailments.
A
Yeah. And it wasn't. It wasn't super hard, but it's just nice to be oiled up, you know, Dude. And isn't it nice to be oiled up?
B
I like being oiled up and having my hands and arms.
A
Oh, God. And then the. I think felt so good.
B
It did feel really good.
A
Rub your head, dude. Yeah, Again. Again. They oil you up. What's better than that? I just like being oiled up.
B
I don't know. I don't know.
A
This was the second Coheed set, so I watched from the same place again during this set. They played the same set again and had this beautiful moment where they're playing the Suffering, which is the second single from this record. Claudio looks up, locks eyes with me, and, like, immediately is like, oh, shit, it's. It's. The guy I just talked to yesterday stops riffing mid song to point at me. Keeps playing after that song goes into a story by shouting us out and being like, I was talking to Hard Lore yesterday about. I'm not gonna spoil it.
B
Yeah.
A
And then it was something about the next song, and that was Just a really surreal moment. Like this is a band I've been listening to since I was in middle school.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, and now he's talking about an interview I just did with him on his cruise that I was invited to play. Music is unbelievable. And sometimes it's the band you started when you were 18, you know, of course. And you just keep grinding and people get it eventually and you start. You have a weekly propaganda show where you get to propagandize everybody. But it was just so. Dude. It made me really emotional in that moment. And then when he was like, I was talking to hard lore, he like paused for applause and it was like. But it was just really cool thing that he. That even in that moment where you can barely see me up there and he still clocked me and was like, oh, that's awesome. And shared this really cool story of this really cool thing that we talked about in the episode. So really cool. You'll all see. Pardon this interruption. We gotta tell you about today's important events. First of all, we're giving away a Gibson Les Paul studio.
B
Hello.
A
What do you want? You know, it's unbelievable.
B
How would someone sign up for this giveaway? Colin.
A
So Sweetwater has made it so that if you go to patreon.com hardlorepod and you sign up at the satisfaction tier level or higher, you are automatically entered in a drawing to win a Gibson Les Paul Studio on December 1st.
B
So that means for a minimum of $10, you are in the running to get yourself $1,000 value in this beautiful all black Gibson, not epiphone, Gibson studio guitar. That also means if you're a $5 Patreon member, you can upgrade to 10. Just bump up, bump it up and you're in the.
A
You're in the running and that's it. Somebody's winning that thing and it's going to be completely random. So we hope it's you.
B
Yeah. We're going to draw early December. I'm going to send it out myself. I will get it to you by Christmas. Boom.
A
We promise.
B
Yep.
A
Like jingle all the way, baby.
B
Probably us only, though. We should probably.
A
Yeah, yeah. Sorry.
B
I'm sorry, guys. It's just way too much money to send it overseas or even into Canada. Sorry.
A
It's true. Us only Gibson Les Paul Studio. This episode is also brought to you by Manscaped.
B
Oh, man.
A
Having my damn handyman with me on the cruise. Game changer.
B
Yeah. Because you. You went.
A
My beard's back.
B
Yeah.
A
As everybody knows and can see.
B
Yeah.
A
I. You Know when it's. When it's coming in first, you get that next double that's longer than your face sucks. And you got to get rid of it quick. You got shows to play. You got people to. You got people to schmooze with on the cruise.
B
You know, I take the weed whacker with me. I take a lawnmower with me. I keep everything nice and I. I make sure I'm looking good. And that's part of my. My favorite part about this is it's like lithium ion batteries. They're recharged. I charge them before we go.
A
Lithium ion batteries that you should definitely check in your bag.
B
Definitely, definitely carry them on with you. But what I mean is, I'm always good because manscape lets me be good.
A
Dude, I just weed whacked for the first time today.
B
It's crazy, right?
A
That's the nose trimmer, right?
B
Oh, yeah.
A
And I never had nose hairs growing up. I would look at my dad and be like, how the fuck did he get all that?
B

B
It's great.
A
This episode is also brought to you by the great AG1.
B
My goodness.
A
I think it's the only reason we're even alive right now.
B
Straight up, dude.
A
The amount of crazy stuff we were exposed to, we were in international waters. We've been in airports during a government shutdown. But because we're starting our days with AG1 and ending our days with AGZ, we are living beautifully.
B
Now, I heard there is a new welcome pack.
A
Yeah, dude, if you go to drinkag1.com Harlow right now, you're not only going to get OG AG1 big bag, a big tin to put it all in a beautiful bottle to shake it up, you're gonna get the new flavor sampler, which has all three of the new flavors. B
Wow.
A
One little scoop. Little bit of water. Shake it up, suck it down. Back to the episode. Last day, last day, last day. What do we do this day? This. This was. I remember just being like frantic. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Shit to do, shit to do, shit to do, shit to do. And then I watched Kalisdow Boys play. I watched foxing play out on the pool.
B
Their last show. Right.
A
One of them.
B
Oh, right, right, one of them.
A
And we talked to them here. We've got Connor from foxing here. Unbelievable. Thank you for joining us. Thank you for having me. How's the. How's your cruise experience been?
B
It's been really good.
A
Been seasick, has threw up a lot.
B
Oh, hell yeah.
A
Like right after we finished our last set. Cool. Good time to do it.
B
Last set ever? No, no, no.
A
Okay. Last set ever for now. Well, we're playing like four shows in December. Then we're taking a big foxing break. But we're all doing other stuffing break. Well, we've been doing it for like 12 years. We've never taken a break. And so I don't know. Last year around Christmas time, we were all sitting in a room together and.
B
We were like, we just take a break.
A
This is, you know.
B
Yeah.
A
It's just getting hard to like write together and tour together so much. Like, we need time to grow as people. So it was a unanimous thing. And we're all like actually very excited about it.
B
Or at least I am.
A
I don't want to speak for everyone.
B
But yeah, that's good. Feel good.
A
It'll end up by being a of part positive thing. Come back. Come back to it when you're excited and you love it again. Yeah. We're all in our 30s and like, you know, my wife and I want to have kids at some point. It's like we got to learn who we are, not as musicians. At some point in our lives. 100%. Yeah.
B
Have you enjoyed the cruise thus far?
A
It's amazing. It's. Aside from being sick, other than highlights. Oh, man, I don't know. Everybody on this cruise is so nice.
B
Yeah.
A
And the amount of people that came up. It was my birthday on Monday. That was a big highlight.
B
Happy birthday.
A
Thank you. A lot of birthdays.
B
Scorpios, you know what I mean? There we go.
A
Yeah, that was a huge highlight. Cuz we just went around Cozumel and rode like Nissan with the tops chopped off. Buggies. Yeah. Yeah. And then everybody on the cruise has been like, you know, people I don't know are like, happy birthday. And you know, I hope you find what you need on the break. Like, that's really cool. Did you have the same experience doing the Kobe tour that just happened? Absolutely. Everybody, I feel like their fan base.
B
Is just so accepting and loving. Yeah, we've heard that from a few people tonight.
A
I've experienced it.
B
Yeah. Same first answer?
A
Same. Well, I think, like, fans of that band are like the best kind of fan, which are the ones that actually really care about what the. Like the music that the band likes. You know, they actually. It's like the best thing that you can do for an opener is have fans that are like receptive to 100% that, you know, and it's a cool thing where it's like. It's kind of like all tomorrow's parties, that festival, you know, where it's like curated. It's just like a festival that happens for a long time where it's like curated by cultural icons and huge musicians and stuff. But it's something that I've always loved is the idea of like, whenever you're putting a lineup together for a tour, you're like curating something.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
And like the fans of your band are actually seeing like, what you like. And I feel like these fans of Kohed, they get that. They want it. Yeah. They're like, hungry for something. You know, this is what these guys actually look.
B
Listen to. Right.
A
Like all the stuff on the.
B
Yeah. I think they think of it that way.
A
Yeah.
B
Too. Which is important.
A
They've all been very kind. Yeah. That's been my highlight as well. Yeah. I think it's the people also see it like all. I don't know, seeing you guys around, it's like. It's awesome.
B
Really cool.
A
Just getting that it's like a big summer camp. Yeah.
B
Yeah, I said summer camp vibes for sure.
A
I'm gonna ask you a brutal question. Okay. And you can take your time. Take as much time. Okay. Can you tell me a full favorite Oracle Records of all time? Okay. Well, if you consider.
B
We probably do.
A
All right. You know the band Jawas. Yeah. Do you consider that all Right. You do what you, you, you got to do.
B
All right. All right.
A
Cursed by J. That's like my favorite EP ever. Okay, what else do I like? Okay. Do you consider Love Is Love to be hardcore metal? Metal core? Sure, sure. Give it to me. All right. I want you to be you. Here.
B
Yeah.
A
Code Orange, kids. Love is Love.
B
Oh, it was a band called Love.
A
Is Love Is Love.
B
Toad counts for sure.
A
I love all the records. That one like hit me every time. They were over.
B
They were so over.
A
What else do I love? I don't know. Oh, Kiss a Goodbye. You know this record, Choke. All right. Choke. Kiss a Goodbye. Okay. Are these like, very pedestrian to you?
B
No, no, actually, no. No, I would not say so.
A
You'Re not saying age of 4 or minor threat?
B
Those are the more pedestrian for sure. Okay, what about. I feel like. Go ahead.
A
I've seen All I Need to See by the Body. That's not like a hardcore record.
B
It's like experimental weird shit. But it is weird shit. But I believe it's adjacent.
A
Listen, that's my favorite, the Body. You do what you got to do. All right, cool. I've seen All I Need to See by the Body. That'll be the fourth one. There you have it. Connor from Fox. And people that watch this are going to be like, this is all.
B
No, there's going to be 20 are gonna be like. Finally someone mentioned, you know, we're so.
A
Eat esque in our audience. They are always searching for something. Always. Okay, cool. Thank you so much. Thank you. Have a great hiatus, man.
B
Yeah, enjoy yourself.
A
This rules. I can't wait.
B
He's in the middle. He just started.
A
Yeah. Enjoy. Thank you. Back to you guys. Have a great hiatus, motherfuckers. It's the best. Once again, Kohed played the pool. We're. I'm getting ready for the set all day. It's at 10:45pm But I, you know me, I stress out about. For about seven or eight hours, dude.
B
It's one of the funniest things that I explained to people that like, if Hardler has to do something the day. If you're playing that day, I'm off. Like, I, I, that's an off day for me.
A
Except for this. This is the most, this is really the most I've ever done on a day where I've had to play.
B
We had to cram.
A
We just about to see, dude. And by this time the sea is raging.
B
Oh, man. This. So this was the time where the group chat is like, yo, we had waves hitting the Window last night and like, yeah, Kyla.
A
Kyla said we were scraping bottom. Scraping the bottom of the ocean. So I like that a lot. Yeah, this is. Everybody's in costume this day for like, some kind of prom.
B
There was a prom, and then there was also, like, cosplay competition for the. The, like the wars or whatever story. Yeah, yeah, there's.
A
There's a play. They put on a whole musical thing for the Emery Wars. Like a live play.
B
No shit.
A
Yeah. It's unbelievable. Caught the last Soft Cult set this night. Truly the best band. Can't stress that enough. You got to check it out. The song 1625. Check that one out. I watched them sound check that, and I was levitating like a pie in a windowsill. Just floating to the riffs, to the vibes. And they're way, like, heavier live.
B
Interesting.
A
The tones are fucking, like, raging. Everybody's locked in, dude. As we stated in the interview, they're twins, so they're just harmonizing so perfectly. Just unbelievable band. I see the world for them ahead. And this is last night. This is our last set. So sound checking. My voice is starting to come back a little bit.
B
Little bit.
A
This whole time, everything we've said, I'm barely able to speak.
B
And like, literally, if you guys have noticed, I sound a little hoarse. Colin was 10 times worse than how I sound right now during.
A
What's funny is during Claudio and Anthony, the interviews, I think I was okay. Like, I was speaking from the back of my voice.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
So you'll.
B
You won't.
A
You'll be able to tell a little bit, but not super crazy. But as we're going on, I'm like, oh, I'm back. Okay, good. And before we. What's something that was kind of common on the cruise was a band is starting and there's. The crowd's kind of sparse.
B
Yeah.
A
And, like, people kind of start to gather as they realize a band is playing.
B
Yeah.
A
And this set we're playing 10ft from the casino.
B
That's very true. We should. Yeah. It's like a. God, it's a. It's a. So everything on the. On the whole ship, every deck is like. It's just a floor by floor, right?
A
Yeah.
B
This is an area where there is.
A
It's two.
B
It's open for two decks, so you.
A
Can watch from the bottom and from.
B
The staircase and from the top and.
A
From the hibachi restaurant, it's.
B
And from the hibachi, it's all one big open thing. And all of a sudden, man, it's full packed house before we start packed.
A
Packed by people who have never heard us, which was really cool. And then a few, like, again, guys from Konashi were there. People from Cowboys were there. A couple of our guys from the Discord and stuff are ready for. And it was like a straight up great twitching tongue set cruise aside.
B
Yes. Yeah.
A
Right. If this was in. If this was anywhere, if this was at home, I would have been like, that was really good.
B
It was rowdy. Rowdy is the best word for it, I think, because it wasn't, like, violent.
A
No.
B
Which I'm really glad because, like, there's a lot of. A lot of civilians on this thing who don't know.
A
You gotta have some awareness in these situations of, like, all right, this is not the time to hurt somebody.
B
And proud to say everybody did.
A
Yeah.
B
You know what I mean? Like, proud to say that everyone behaved exactly how I would hope they would.
A
And then the drummer of Pool Kids was crowd surfing and moshing and then climbed to the second floor.
B
Yeah. He grabbed onto the balcony, started climbing, and I was essentially under. And I thought he was going to jump, so I was a little scared. Security did not like that.
A
No, they did not. Like.
B
They did not like that. He was also in a. He was also, like in a splint because his foot was up.
A
Broken ankle.
B
So it was.
A
That was odd. That's just. There was so many little things that came together. Like, my voice coming back gave me enough confidence to just blast through it. The stage was really small, so I mic stand most of the time, just like, locking in and wailing.
B
Yep.
A
We as Sean Martin. We haven't even talked about Sean.
B
We haven't even talked about Sean and Jessica. My goodness.
A
Guys, here's a few words from Sean, our very first guest ever. Hey, everybody, it's Sean Martin. It's the first Hard Lore guest in history. We're back with him today on the SS Never Ender. Sean, how's the cruise been for you? It's been great. Yeah. I've been having a blast. You have your lovely wife Jessica with you? Yes, I do. Yes. I'd like to shout out Jessica Martin, Jessica Martin, real estate Maverick Realty. Maverick Realty. Get a house, Go buy a house. That's what she said. That's her tagline. It's unbelievable. Sean, can you tell me some cruise highlights? Yeah, the food's been great.
B
It has been good.
A
Had a good time. He had a good time. Check out any bands. I watched Coheed in Cambria twice.
B
How'd they do.
A
They were great.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah, they did great. As a guitar man. You have to just sit in awe at what they're doing the whole time, huh? Absolutely. Yes. Yeah, it's. It's off the hook, Claudio singing and playing all that stuff is crazy. It ain't right. No, it's not much like what you're doing now. It's unbelievable. Yeah, I'm doing this. All. This is all improv right now. Could you. Could you possibly tell us your top four hardcore records of all time? Song top four? Yeah, I guess. Agnostic Front calls for Alarm Chromag's Age of Coral. Yeah. I mean, what. What can you do? I'm going to go out on a limb because, I don't know, it's crossover more than it's hard Crumb Sucker's Life of Dreams. That's. Yeah, that's hc. Yep. And this little controversial but ludicrist, Immaculate Deception.
B
Whoa. Wow. First ever Ludicris. Yeah, absolutely. First ever. Yeah.
A
And then I'm going to throw first Murphy's Law in there too. Fifth bonus. Would you do this again if we were invited back to the SS Never? Yes. Yes, I would. There you have it.
B
You hear that?
A
It's on. That's it. Thank you, Sean. We were lucky enough to be joined by the great Brity Drake, Mike's wife. And she does much more than being Mike's wife, of course, but she happens to be Mike's wife.
B
Like, they play magic.
A
Oh, yeah, dude. A lot of magic on this thing.
B
A lot of magic.
A
Mike was a magic celeb on this cruise.
B
He. You would just see him talking to a stranger and then there would be cards out.
A
I think he was the first person on the cruise to whip his deck out is what it was. So Mike whips his deck out.
B
He was whipping deck all over the place.
A
It was crazy. Yeah. And. And it made. Strangers were just coming up to him, talking magic, giving him stuff.
B
Yeah. He also. It's funny to point out that he went everywhere with his backpack with his decks in there if. In case he had to whip it out. That's it.
A
Yeah. That's the only reason he was playing the whole time. Soft cult. Big magic heads. Meet me at the altar. I think had some big magic heads. I didn't really talk to any of them, but they. They were down. So Mike. Magic Mike is in full effect on this thing. Mike's crushing this set. I'm seeing basically every band member we've talked to on the entire cruise, like, watching the set, being there supporting and it was just very cool.
B
It was legitimately. It was like. Like, it seemed. And I mean this with all due respect, it seems unfair that you had two incredible sets.
A
I agree.
B
Out of the three, because it seemed.
A
Like you get one, you know, you.
B
Should barely get one.
A
You should barely get.
B
It's a cruise ship. It like.
A
But there's a million things to do on there. But at the end of the day, that fan base is there to see live fucking rock music.
B
Live music. And that's why I. I stand with the Coheed alliance. Like, I'm totally. I totally get it. Everyone was cool. However, I will say, during this, the packers were playing the Eagles, and I witnessed an old packers fan, an old guy, get into a physical altercation with a young Eagles gal who started it, the Packer guy.
A
You hear that, Taylor?
B
And I'm. I'm kind of an Eagles fan. So that was. That was. That was the only thing I saw on the whole ship. Yeah, Go Birds. Only thing I saw on the whole ship the whole time. That was like. Oh, and that's just like normal sports.
A
That's just banter, banter.
B
It's nothing.
A
You know, he was taking the piss.
B
Total piss taker.
A
After the. Before the Twitching Tongue set, we also talked to Mike from Twitching Tongues. Here's Mike Cesario's Hard Lore debut. Here we go. Okay, we're here with Media Mike, Movie Mike. Mike Cesario. Magic Mike. My beloved Mike Cesario, drummer for Twitching Tongues. This is his first appearance on Hard Lore. Hang on one second. This is his first appearance on Hard Lore. This is the precursor to the eventual full episode, of course. Mike, how's the cruise been?
B
It's been awesome. Very good.
A
Your wife Britt is here. She is.
B
I wish she was here right now with us.
A
She get in?
B
She probably good. She's talking to somebody. She's popular.
A
Yeah, she's. She's been on the show.
B
She's been on the show. You have a bag, a backpack full of magic cards with you at all times. Everything you could ever imagine.
A
Dude, it's been the talk of the town on the cruise.
B
It's pretty dope. I mean, I got a lot of mana. It's pretty sick. I can play anyone out. I'll beat you. Let's go. Yeah.
A
Brady beat you?
B
Brady beat me at least six times. I won once. It's fine now. Why not leave it in your room? Is it an accident?
A
Really?
B
Good question. Security threat? No, in fact, I leave my. I left my bag down here. If you haven't Noticed. Okay. So I bring it with me because in case anyone's ready. What if you're, like, just walking? You're like, hey, nice to meet you, Jeff. Oh, you also play magic.
A
I saw you do it twice. There was. You and Stephen were playing the other day in, like, the. The, like, general area, and you six people stopped to be like, dude, it was great.
B
I got free. Free soul rings for anyone who plays. They gave me, like, a Coheed and Cambria soul ring. You'll insert it here?
A
Yeah.
B
Very dope. Pretty dope. And everyone just gave me gifts. Like, they get it. It's a community, you know? It's a community. Yeah, it's a community and just like hardcore. What are your.
A
What are your cruise highlights?
B
Cruise highlights. Obviously, being Britney, being here is really fun. Couldn't. Could. It's also. It was our anniversary. We got a picture on the 10th of our anniversary, so celebrated a day later. Beautiful. It's her first time being on a cruise, so her favorite movie is the Titanic. So I did my due diligence and brought her on her favorite movie, the Cruise. Yes. Bring it down. Where the cruise ain't over. So. Yeah, there's still time. It's freezing out there.
A
And we gotta play a set.
B
So I gotta play a set. I'll do it.
A
We'll do it.
B
We can go down on the ship. Yeah, yeah, that'll be good. But that's probably that one. Sing Thursday.
A
Soft gold, dude.
B
Soft dude. Taco bottom.
A
Unbelievable band.
B
Okay, so I was trying to explain it to somebody. You know, when you see a band, you're like, all right, I heard about this. It's like, is going to be good. And you go there and, like, you're. You're just looking like. Has anyone else seen what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was basically that the entire time.
A
Yeah, I. I felt the same.
B
It's just.
A
It's just perfect.
B
It's everything you want. So that was great. I love that. Thursday was great because I got to see Norman from Texas. Texas. Reason Rip on guitar. And he's a big influence on me. Same thing. Just when you hear the right notes, you're like, that's what I want.
A
I like your shape.
B
He's doing. You know, he's doing this. I don't know if you know that's a C sharp major seven.
A
So the thumbs on there.
B
Thumbs on there. Pretty crazy. Yeah.
A
Thursday, New Jersey. Hc New Jersey.
B
Yeah. That was awesome. And then also, just being with you guys. Oh, I mean, come on. Come on. That's awesome.
A
Mike, here's the hardest part.
B
What is it?
A
Could you tell us from Top 4 Hardcore Records of all time?
B
So while you were doing Sean earlier, I was like, okay, I don't know. I think I got him. Okay, so I have to say master trailer. It's the only. I have to.
A
It is what it is.
B
I mean, come on, guys. I have to. A five. It's a five. Daily Death Venoms demo combo. I have to say that I think I'm going to do Roar Tape. Bad, Bad Brains. Okay. This one, I think, is new for you guys. And it's mainly because I, it's my go to. It's In Cold Blood. Hell on Earth. Wow. That's. That one is a perfect. I mean, it's hard, you know, there's.
A
There'S a lot of perfect records.
B
Top to bottom, just straight, straight up. It's my favorite Cleveland record all the time.
A
I've heard for sure.
B
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Fourth one was a tossup. It's the hard one. It's the hard one because Sean's out there. I can't. I have to say. You're wearing the shirt.
A
It's. I know. Sean, stop.
B
Dude. Dude, I'm. But, but honestly, it's a tie between. I can't do ties. If it wasn't, if it wasn't a tie. Let's just do Crowbar. Broken Glass.
A
Oh, hard for hardcore.
B
Does that count? I think we've made it count.
A
I think spiritually, like I want to. Crowbar would be like. I don't think we're.
B
Okay. Okay, well then if we're doing that, then it's, then it's satisfaction.
A
Okay, there it is. Yeah.
B
I mean, that's the b. That's, I think that's good.
A
I agree.
B
I think you picked one. Yeah.
A
Four for four. Yeah.
B
Good. Love it. Can't wait to rip.
A
Mike.
B
There it is.
A
Ripping. Mike.
B
Let's go. Magic Mike.
A
Magic Mike. And in the flesh. That was pretty much our experience of the cruise.
B
Yeah, I, I, it's funny that five days, I feel like went by really quick in that discussion. Yeah, something is. I looked at like we were doing like 15, 000 steps a day on the ship because everything's just all over the place and you're kind of up and about the whole time.
A
All right, I'll go get a water on this floor. Now?
B
Yes, now.
A
I'll go eat something on this floor. I'll go do this two hour obligation I have somewhere.
B
Yes.
A
I'll go wait for a coffee for an hour it's. And then I gotta play. And so it all adds up and goes by super fast. So now let's go to. Let's jog some memories now. Okay, we got some questions from the hardware Patreon and the hard purchase cord. Here we go. Cody exit asked, was it smelling crazy? Not at all.
B
No, actually.
A
Incredibly clean ship.
B
And I understand that question because I think we just as people when you assume there's like a cult following of anything, they're going to be like wrestling fans or magic fans or like notoriously stinky groups. No, not the case.
A
I think even if they were.
B
Well, wait a minute. Memory charred. All right everybody.
A
What?
B
The plumbing on this ship worked. Worked as such. Every cabin had shared the plumbing system with the cabin next to it.
A
Sure.
B
So Stephen and I were in one room. The cabin next to us were Alec and Colin. Now Stephen and I very early on.
A
Because I'm Taylor and Kyla's too were. Theirs was messed up too, as was Sean and Jessica, as was Mike and Brittany. So it was our whole block.
B
Yep.
A
Continue.
B
You were the first room in that block.
A
Who's to say? Who's to say what is first?
B
Maybe we're last sequentially. You were the first one because you were. Oh, 4:02. Who's to say? So Stephen and I decided very early on that we're only going to use the bathroom in there for number one. Unless you're going to be in the shower or something, you're going to take a while just for the sake of keeping a very confined, very small cabin fresh and just not. Not yucky.
A
I'm quick though. You never know.
B
Our counterparts in the other room did not agree to such a.
A
No, I mean I never do. I gotta. It's my kingdom and I gotta, I gotta rule it as I fit.
B
So all of a sudden one of these days someone in the group chat says the toilets on our floor aren't working. Sure enough, our toilet stopped flushing. And then there was a guy, a plumber at like what? It was late.
A
Yeah. And. And let's, let's clarify this. That in the thread that there's a twitching tongues WhatsApp thread where we have to communicate with Tyler and the ship. We're assuming the plumbing is out on the cruise. On a cruise or something. We're like, we're like, oh, this must be cruise.
B
Why it's, it's happening like the, the poo cruise. Like, like that has happened. Yeah, yeah, it's happening now. This worker. I, I'm not, I am not kidding. Here's a picture of him. Can't see his face. So that seems fine. He's a plumber. He is Roto rootering the. The plumbing in between my room and Collins room for 45 minutes at like midnight. And at one point I literally hear. It's like. And I hear him go. And then the entire floor smells like just pure sewage.
A
That's crazy.
B
And so. And then the toilets started working again. So that part did smell really crazy.
A
It did. So what happened was it was only the twitching tongues block of rooms that were. That were. That were not flushing shipwise.
B
So.
A
And I. We don't know what happened.
B
And the guy only did plumbing work on the system that was conjoined between mine and Colin's room. And Steven and I didn't use the toilet for anything but number one.
A
So here's what I'll say. I didn't know there were any kind of flushing rules until I was peeing in Anthony Green's room and I saw. I was peeing in his room and I looked over and saw a notice that was like, do not flush wipes. They're not flushable. Only flush toilet paper. And I was like, that's weird. And so our toilets didn't work for a day. But, you know, who's to say that was my fault?
B
Yeah, who's to say?
A
Who's to say Mount Rushmore music to listen to on a cruise.
B
Go ahead.
A
I mean, Twitching Tongues, Twitch Cambria, Soft Cold and Konashi.
B
I mean, I was. This was prime ambient BO playlist.
A
Yeah. I didn't listen to music for one second.
B
I'm waking up.
A
I'll tell you what I listened to all day was the Coheed blaring through the ship the whole time.
B
Oh, my God. So there's. Here's a memory jogged.
A
Yeah.
B
Throughout the ship, over the pa, the music never turned off ever.
A
Yeah.
B
The whole time.
A
It's a playlist of only Coheed and the bands on the cruise. So it'll be like four Coheed songs.
B
Right.
A
And then a cruise band.
B
And then what's funny is that it would be like, is this a Misfit song? That's Colin. That's Colin. Like, that happens so often.
A
Yeah. It's nice that ours were kind of disguised kind of way.
B
And then there would be like a cover of Crazy Train and it was Puddles.
A
Yeah. Mike.
B
Mike.
A
What was. What was interesting was seeing in the public places where people congregated when. When like, the Coheed bangers came on, like A thousand people singing along in a public area.
B
They just can't believe code.
A
Can't believe it, dude. It's unbelievable.
B
So yeah, I'm getting up at 6am I'm watching the sunrise over the ocean. I'm listening to fucking. Just the prettiest music you've ever heard. You know. That's what I was doing.
A
Mo Brown asked were there any bands you found yourself hanging out with? Especially any band you previously hadn't met. We'd never met any of the Soft cult people before and we were like inseparable by the last two days. Those were.
B
Those were people Dow boys too. I had not a big time dude. And I know you had met Anthony, but I had not met Anthony Prior.
A
Yeah, he's the.
B
And then by the end of the cruise, anytime I saw him, we were immediately like. We would pick up right where we left off.
A
Right.
B
Very cool.
A
And the homie Haley Rippy, who I had also met before, but she was. She's legendary legend. Let's see. Yeah. So James Feehly asked how much was one in the casino. I ended up down about $200, which.
B
Is like five days. What a win on a floating casino.
A
Yeah, that's 24 hours open except for the baccarat table which is open. Only open at night. And that man bent me over and fucked me in the ass.
B
That was crazy.
A
It was unbelievable. You lost immediately for player in a row. That's. I stick to. People are like, why you play slots? They're so volatile. This man fucked my ass four times in a row relentlessly.
B
I didn't gamble one. I didn't gamble one dollar.
A
I am so proud of you.
B
Actually not totally true. Because the arcade game that had the coins.
A
Oh, that was fun.
B
Took our card and our room keys were connected to any card you put on. So I spent $10.
A
That's. That basically didn't happen, you know.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
This is a really great question. Somebody asked something that insane that's happened last time we recorded an episode is that some of the Epstein emails have been leaked.
B
Oh my God.
A
You read about that?
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
You think? I don't. I don't think Trump was sucking off Clinton.
B
No, I don't think so either. I think this is.
A
He would have brought it up in the. In the debate with Hillary. He wouldn't have debated her, dude. He would have been like she has the greatest ammo of all time on me. I can't debate this woman.
B
That's a great point. You know, I just think it's a Way to make him have to post his wife on the White House Twitter five days in a row. Like, it's a way to make him like, well, no, I'm not gay. I have. You know. Yeah.
A
Now he's. Now he's saying release him because surely they've doctored them in some way or something. But yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
Anyway.
B
I don't know. It's. How fucking crazy. I don't even know.
A
And it's like, it's already over a lot of people. It's over, though. That's where we are today. That's. Imagine like Clinton or Obama dealing with this.
B
You know, you'd be laughing, you'd be like.
A
But like, dude, Watergate wasn't that big of a deal.
B
Like, oh, right. But it was enough for him to resign. Yeah.
A
And now we've got. He's had. He has a Watergate. Watergate breaks every day.
B
That's Clinton, baby.
A
Crazy man.
B
Quentin. Quentin caught. Clinton caught a blowy in the Oval Office and lied to the nation.
A
And he started it. Really.
B
He kind of set the precedent. I think it's true. I think. Well, Reagan lying about Iran Contra, right? Yep.
A
Favorite stage to play was the Bliss one. I mean, that was incredible. But yeah, I had a little more room at the True.
B
That was like a normal stage and.
A
The barricade was like kind of cool. It was because it was people right in front of me just like leaning over it and like.
B
Yeah.
A
And they could like break it down and sometimes. And that was really cool.
B
It would like kind of bend.
A
So I didn't mind that. I really didn't mind that.
B
Something we didn't mention too is like these rooms are decorated in various coheed.
A
Dude.
B
Beautiful themed.
A
The. The. The craps table said Cohen and Cambrian had the butterfly all over.
B
No, I didn't even.
A
It was awesome. It was really cool. Everything was. The production was like, no joke. This is clearly their third time, you know.
B
Well, it's also sixth man. You know.
A
Yeah.
B
It's the production company who does all of these headbangers cruises.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
Crazy. Really cool. I hope that if we're asked back in 2027 or whenever they decide to do this again, that many of you come and join us because this just sounds fun.
B
It is fun. We could do a live. Be fucking dope.
A
That would be dope. I don't think any. Somebody asked if we threw up and I don't think anybody did.
B
Did not throw up. I. I was able to really just kind of white knuckle.
A
Yeah.
B
The nausea because it wasn't the listing was was it would get there, but it wasn't unpredictable.
A
Yeah.
B
It became now what did suck going back to land and feeling like you were moving.
A
I. I'm like, I like just got over that same.
B
So did I.
A
Crazy.
B
That was crazy.
A
That like in the airport, I was.
B
Like, oh, it's like, holy. Yeah.
A
I was in bed at night feeling like I was moving.
B
That was rough. Showering for some reason made me feel it. I don't know. It was weird. Weird.
A
Bizarre. What a weird. And I guess that like did settlers and colonizers all experience that too, you know.
B
Of course. And I mean makes you think we worse. The end of Waterworld when the Mariner gets on and he's like, the land doesn't move. Right. He's. He wasn't lying.
A
Yeah. It's real crazy shit, man.
B
Great movie.
A
Favorite meal on the cruise.
B
Hibachi.
A
Hibachi was lit.
B
We also got that steakhouse that one night. That was good.
A
That was pretty good.
B
Not the first one. The.
A
Oh yeah, that was good.
B
But what sucked about that one, and I say sucked, is it was 13th deck. So the. The chop is way worse than if.
A
You'Re the choppiest it ever was.
B
And so that was crazy. I'm watching Sean's wine glass, like it was crazy.
A
It was cool, though. What were you most tempted to toss overboard?
B
We all have that thing when you go to a high place and you look over and you have the thought.
A
You know, oh my God, dude.
B
So mine was.
A
Dropped my phone off right now.
B
I could just drop my body off right now. What would actually happen? And it is horrifying. I'll tell you what.
A
It's high up there.
B
It's high. I will say they do a pretty good. Like if you're at the pool deck and you go up to try to. To be at the like outermost portion of the ship, they have like 8 foot plexiglass, so only puddles can see over that thing. And there's like slits cut out. You couldn't get through it if you wanted to, thankfully. Thank God.
A
Yeah, I agree.
B
Because it's. It's scary, man. That one thing we didn't mention was. And you were, you were doing the. You were indisposed for some reason. But I went and did the. The crew or the tour of the ship.
A
Oh yeah.
B
And so we went up into the bridge and like I saw the ship like going straight. I saw the two people steering it with a joystick this big. A little. That's it. They have the wheel but they use the joystick.
A
Just like that submarine.
B
Yeah, kind of. The submarine had a bigger joystick than this ship. That's not even joking.
A
I mean it's probably. You probably have to go like. Yeah, it's for 10 minutes to move at all anyway.
B
I don't. They freak me out, those ships.
A
Did Max Kendrick asked, did Twitching get over as the heaviest band on the boat? Yeah, I would say so. By the end, I think we were.
B
Over, I guarantee you. Have you checked like Spotify or anything? Like, have you have any numbers bump or anything?
A
I mean our socials bumped pretty, pretty good. And like my. There's a bunch of comments on my latest post that are like, first time seeing you. That was crazy.
B
It was awesome. Yeah, pretty good.
A
That's why you do it.
B
Yeah.
A
Did anyone appear to just be there for the cruise with zero interest in bands at all?
B
So like that Packer guy I was talking about, he was like a 60 something year old guy in a Packer shirt at a bar.
A
Yeah.
B
I don't think he was there for Coheed.
A
So I would have said the guy on the pool deck shirt that was wearing the shirt that just said Piss jug man was maybe there for just the cruise, but then I saw him doing front of house, so. So maybe not. But yeah, there's definitely some people where you're just like, what the fuck are you doing here?
B
Yeah, I don't know. It was. It was odd, but it wasn't unpleasant. One thing I liked that I wanted to point out was Twitchy Tongs playing. Good luck.
A
Yeah.
B
I haven't seen you play that I think in been a while and it's just a really nice addition thanks to the sadness.
A
That's a nice one to like. That's a one to play to people who have never heard us, you know.
B
Totally.
A
Because it's got, it's got big Black Sabbath intro. The.
B
The typo intro.
A
Yeah, the.
B
It's got good hooks, it's got Mike doing crazy fills and the, the stomp part, it's very, very good. Fit. Fit really well, I think.
A
Thanks, man. Dude, I feel like we curated a pretty good set.
B
And also I'm like, I know it's not new you've been playing them, but the gaming purpose songs.
A
Oh, it's that. That gaming purpose we have not played with Mike. That was first up.
B
Okay, okay, that makes sense because you played what's the other one?
A
How kill for you and chill for you.
B
Sound of pain. Yeah, that one. I've seen you play?
A
Yeah.
B
Sound or gaining purpose.
A
It's here to stay, dude.
B
I mean, those songs, they feel great because there's so much they're. You know what I'm saying? They like, they're a different gear and so I really enjoyed the set list. It was good. Easiest 45 minute set I'm sure the Tongues ever played. Kinda like as far as setlists go, it was awesome.
A
Yeah, it was. It's a lot of those songs are what we're very comfortable playing. You know, I would say I probably have the hardest job up there. Kill for you is tough. Other than that. Yeah. We were planning on breaking out some stuff we'd never played before, but figured play the hits to new people, you know.
B
Yeah, absolutely.
A
But next year we'll bust out some. Some crazy shit. Juicy Evil asked how cool is Claudio? He's unbelievable.
B
He's very cool. You want to hear something? Hit me with the follow the other night, dude.
A
Same.
B
I don't. I didn't follow him before. Yeah, yeah.
A
It was out of nowhere.
B
Out of nowhere. That's cool to me. And because it's like we meet people and you know, to. To some people we're just journalists or whatever. Whatever. It's nice. It's like a nice, like. Oh, okay. Cool, man. Damn.
A
He was. He was thinking about what a nice time he had with us.
B
Exactly. That's exactly. Yeah, it's very pleasant. He was very hospitable. Offered us his writer dude.
A
He taught me. You caught a picture of it. Claudio taught me his ancient secret warm up technique that he was to say. That wasn't why I had a singing.
B
Voice at all that night that it lasted. Sure, sure.
A
Because that was switch fit tonight and my voice was way better.
B
Pretty cool.
A
I could teach it to you all someday, you know, who knows? But God. Yeah. He's unbelievable. Somebody asked what was the ratio of pineapples on doors? I don't know what that means.
B
So pineapples are. Is a swinger thing. Very common on cruise ships. I didn't see a one.
A
I didn't see a one. There's no perverts on this ship.
B
It didn't seem very perverted.
A
Not a pervert ship. This is a music ship, man.
B
Yeah, I ate pineapple every morning.
A
Nice.
B
Every single morning. But yeah, I didn't see any of that.
A
How did the audiences react to hardcore music? Were people into it or did it seem like crowds from other scenes? I think there was a. It was very positive. Like the people who were even getting moshed, I think were Just like, this is crazy.
B
Yes. Yeah.
A
Like, they were just reacting very positively. And like, after we finished the song, it was like.
B
And during Twitch Fits, I told you, I saw total normies, like, creepy crawling, like, actually skanking, which was awesome.
A
Yeah.
B
And then. Yeah, during. During the. That last tongue set, like, I saw. I saw.
A
You know.
B
You know when you're at a show and you see someone get in an area where they don't necessarily know what's going to happen, and you kind of go, oh, no. Like, oh. Saw that a lot. And there wasn't a problem. There was no problem.
A
It was like a case study of how to. How to manage something you've never experienced before. Just. Just let it happen and enjoy. Delirium Trigger. Good, good, good, good name there. How was your perceived reaction of how your shows would go versus the reception that you got? I would say we were all like, they're all going to suck, you know? Yeah.
B
You expected the. The first show. The first set every night.
A
Every night.
B
And as did I as an outsider.
A
And I was fine with that, you know, because it's like, we're gonna. A couple people will hear us for the first time. We've been a band forever. We don't put out new music. It's fine. We're. We're lucky to be here. And then it turned out that they were unbelievable. It's crazy. Do straightedge laws apply in international waters? Absolutely.
B
They do.
A
Like you wouldn't believe.
B
They transcend.
A
That's right. There I was maybe even more shredded. International water in the Gulf Mexico, motherfucker. Sydney said, not a question, but my girlfriend's uncle went on the cruise, and he told me the singer of Twitching Tongues is a dude I'd never want to get in a fight with. He's jacked. And I thought it was funny. And to that I say, he must have gotten me mixed up with my friend Bo.
B
Oh, okay.
A
Because he's jacked. Here we go. How many times did each of y' all hit the ice cream soft serve machine?
B
I'll be honest with you, man. I'm. I'm being really careful about what I eat these days. And I had sweets, don't get me wrong, but I was avoiding the pizza. I was avoiding noodles and carbs and sugars and stuff. I'm just trying to.
A
Well, you were just in Japan going hog wild too Ex and.
B
Exactly that. I was kind of detoxing on the ship and, like, you know how it is. I was. I just turned 38.
A
Yeah.
B
Feels not great. And I do.
A
It's. It's over.
B
It's over. And so I am take. I'm trying to take a little better care of myself as far as I think I got.
A
I got home probably. Oh, okay. Same in one night. I got home down. I was probably down £5.
B
Really?
A
I'm not eating. I was just like, all right, there's fucking pork chops here and chicken breasts all day and breakfast stuff. I'm just gonna eat this. I wasn't eating a whole lot. I was Slenderman by the time I got home. Got it all back immediately.
B
Yeah.
A
I've been gorging for three days straight. It's been great.
B
I was 206 pound, 206 and 1 half pounds the day before I left. As of Yesterday, I was 201 and a half. So I lost five pounds.
A
You, man. Good for you. I'll get. I'll get. I'll get back down. I'm coming. I want to get back up.
B
Yeah, I'm trying to get up.
A
Feeling small, weak. Hate it. But I also am liking. I'm liking us fitting in shirts, you know.
B
I think you look good.
A
Thanks, man.
B
I think you look good. Thank you.
A
So groovy. Tony Pajamas asked, would you recommend a cruise to anyone who hasn't gone on one?
B
I depends.
A
I think. Yeah. I think if this happens again, I really hope some hardware people come.
B
Well, that. So that's why I say it depends. This cruise, if you're, like, interested in alternative music and live music. Yes. Carnival Cruise, where you're just going to Cozumel and couldn't pay the Dominican. Yeah, that's.
A
They're not famous.
B
Cuz, like, the food is included and some of the amenities and fun stuff is included. But a lot of the extra stuff that you might think you want is not included. That costs a lot of money. And pop isn't free and your booze isn't free.
A
Not free.
B
So.
A
Dude. And they had Coke light. Oh, which was like the Mexican Diet Coke blend. Yeah, that was Coach Zero saved the day, though.
B
Zero was better. Yeah.
A
Yeah. Marathon man asked how difficult slash surreal was it playing on a moving ship? That's part A of the question. I didn't notice a single difference while playing. However, during the second Coheed set, they were fighting for their lives.
B
Really, Dude.
A
They were like, straight up. Like, the drummers throwing up mid set.
B
Really.
A
The guitar techs are throwing up and the band is legit. Like stumbling on stage while playing.
B
Holy.
A
But they address it. They were like, this is fun. We Think this is fun. So what?
B
Okay.
A
And did the realization of holy, I'm on a boat distract you from the performance at all? I would say only the first show.
B
Yeah.
A
Because it was outdoors in the daylight. I'm looking at the steam rise from the top.
B
Yeah.
A
But I was spin kicking in the waters. No problem. It's what I do.
B
It's funny too, because I did the World War five ending bit. And Matt, friend of the show Matt, who's doing. Doing photography, I think for Thursday was why is who he was there with. But he was everywhere and doing stuff. Took. Took pictures. And one of the mornings when I was at. Sitting at the. The. At the Starbucks waiting for my coffee. There's a big LED screen above the Starbucks in the back. And I, like, looked up and it was just me. Like, me. And I was so. I was. It was very. That was the most surreal part of the whole.
A
Like some cyberpunk propaganda where it's like, you. This could be you.
B
Yes, exactly. Very Minority Report.
A
Yeah. Matt took some unbelievable photos.
B
He's very good.
A
Very. The guy. That guy's good. What do we got? Dalton93, asked, Does Claudio know? Hardcore ball. There's something there. So there's a. We talk about that a lot in the episode, and it's. It's surprising for surprising reasons.
B
Yes.
A
The man just writes. He don't think about influences or anything. He's just writing.
B
Yeah, a little bit of a spoiler there.
A
It's crazy.
B
It's amazing. It's amazing.
A
Yeah, I agree. Jake stir asks where is the strangest place you spin kicked while on the cruise? And the answer is on stage. Yeah, I was speaking. Kicking on the Magnum stage. That thing was eight square feet, dude.
B
You clobbered Alex Mike at one point too.
A
It was awesome. Oh, that was like. I was done at that time.
B
Yeah, it was over. He's over. But it was. It's the funniest, you know, like, the noise is always so funny.
A
You gotta give him a show, you know?
B
Yeah. And I remember the. One of the stage managers was like, kind of kneeling next to me when you did that. And I watched her, like. And then she realized it was Alex Mike, like, his personal mic.
A
She just.
B
Yeah, it's all right.
A
Sorry. But yeah, we. We had a blast. What a great time, dude.
B
I'm glad we did it because now I do know, like, if we got the offer again, I would absolutely do it again.
A
Yeah. And if. If we went as just hard lore, I think we'd probably get a lot more done.
B
Yeah.
A
You know?
B
Yeah.
A
But I. If we got asked to play again, I'd do it in a heartbeat, and I hope that all of you will join us next time. It was sold out when we got announced, so it was like a miracle that anybody knew who we were.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah, totally. I think maybe five people knew who we were.
A
Yeah.
B
From this.
A
Yeah. Very cool. Unbelievable experience. Bizarre words I thought I'd never say. Played a damn cruise. Thank you all for being there, if you were there. Thank you all for listening and watching today.
B
Yeah, we got to go. We got to go jump on arc raiders right now.
A
Yeah, we're. We're are deep in arc raiders. We are raiding the arcs. If you want to join us, let us know.
B
Yeah, there's room for one.
A
There's room for one more if Brody King is not online. Thank you all for listening and watching. Next week, we'll be back early Thanksgiving week. We're gonna give it to you one day early.
B
Oh, wow. Nice. That's right.
A
So next Wednesday, Claudio Sanchez. The week after that, Anthony Green. It is what it is, man. We like to give. You know, we hope you all enjoyed this. This fun little recap, and we will see you next week.
B
Yeah.
A
Bye.
B
Bye.
