Welcome to Her Style Podcast where we're all about empowering you to show up and get dressed every day with confidence. I'm your host, Heather Rigg, a 15 year and counting certified image consultant and color specialist ready to build a wardrobe and a personal style you love. Let's get started.
Okay, so I know your first question is such a relatable one, which is how did I cure myself of looking away from all the shiny pretty things? And I know that the holiday season is going to be tough. Brace yourselves because you're gonna be getting all the Black Friday promotions on your social media feeds and potentially in your inboxes. I would recommend unsubscribing from as many retailer websites as you might have subscribed to as you can before that hits, just so that you can avoid any temptation. It's always a good idea to be able to get notified of discounts and savings and promotions and things like that once you are at a point where you can be more discerning and that doesn't take distract you too much. But if you know that you're going to be really tempted, especially during a big event like Black Friday, you might want to just temporarily unsubscribe for now or set up filters so that those emails go to another folder that you have to manually go check and they're not just popping up in your inbox all day long incessantly or the text updates as well. So as much as you can minimize all of that going into the holiday season, I think that will be very helpful. And it really is just a process. I think it can feel tough when you're kind of rewiring all of those old habits. But you're. I know, Debbie, you are already experiencing so many wins. I mean, I think you've emailed me every couple of days with, like, I have and breakthroughs that you're having, which just lights me up. But I promise you, as you start getting more and more comfortable with the process that we go through in the collective, that's all you're going to want to do. You know, like, you're already seeing benefits to being more thoughtful about auditing what you have and looking at what are the actual gaps. And okay, maybe I don't have any gaps. I have too many things that are similar, so I know I don't need those pieces. Awareness is the first step, and you're doing a beautiful job of that here, Taking all the time to go through your closet. You get familiar with what you have, to rediscover some hidden gems and style them in new ways. That really is the first step, is just falling back in love with what you already have and seeing it in a new light. And as you continue through, I know you're in step five right now, which is kind of designing your capsule. And we'll get to that, because that was one of your other questions. But once you get into the final stage of shopping and styling, it's so thorough in terms of actually mapping out your budget, coming up with your shopping list, hunting for those pieces that you really want and need, versus just randomly browsing at all the shiny things. I promise you, once you really dive into all of that strategy, you're just not going to want to go back because you're going to see how much easier it is to actually get dressed every day. So it's partly trust the process and also give it some time, because it does take a little while to retrain your brain to think strategically instead of just, oh, that's a pretty thing, and I save it to your window shopping board. If you see, if you're online and you see something and you're like, that's so lovely, this would look amazing. I would have so much fun wearing it. Save it to your board yourself a few days. Take some time away from it. Don't put it in your cart, put it on your window shopping board. And often what happens when you just give yourself a little distance from it? When you go back and look again, I want to say, eight or nine times out of 10, you look at it again and you're like, yeah, right. This is that, like, initial luster of, oh, new shiny thing. And it gives you a little bit more space to not think in a reactionary way, but in a more pragmatic way of, okay, is that really going to serve me? Ask yourself, can I wear it in multiple different ways with multiple pieces that I have? And just taking that little pause can make a massive difference. So I hope that helps give you some motivation and little tricks of how you can kind of keep that momentum going through that.
Debbie
Yes, it does. And I do have a board.
Heather Rigg
And you're right.
Debbie
When I took a look at it yesterday or the day before, it was like, why are these things even on here? And there are. I think I told you. Also, there are a couple of things, like, bright, shiny things that I've never worn because they just feel too bold and look at me. Kind of things that I love having but don't make me feel comfortable wearing. So I have enough of that. Don't need those.
Heather Rigg
And you want to have some of those star pieces that feel a little bit different or more special, just so you don't get bored with what you have too. But, yeah, you also have such a clear vision of your style goals and what really lights you up and resonates with you. Now, that's before you came into. Into this process, you were kind of just out, like, floating around. And I'm just gonna get all the random things that I'm drawn to without having that strategy of, okay, this is the clear vision for my style. These are the things that are going to make it easy to get dressed every day. This actually works for my real life. So you're just at a whole different level now than you were even a month or two months ago. So I think your shopping experience is going to just continue to really be solidified as you practice the steps. And that's exactly what it is. It's practice and just retraining how to look at shopping. So I'm really proud of all the hard work that you've done.
Debbie
Oh, thanks.
Heather Rigg
Yeah. Carly, I saw the question you dropped in the chat about how long between adding something to your window shopping board and buying it. My best recommendation for you ladies would be at least a week. If that feels too hard, even 24 hours can honestly make a Massive difference. Apologies. I don't know if I shared this on a call or if it was just with someone, maybe in an email recently, but my husband and I were out kind of browsing around a little bit over my birthday weekend, and we popped into this little boutique, and I found a really cute cropped plaid jacket. They had two colors. And I was like, oh, I love both of these. And the price point was really high. And so I was like, what do you think about this? And my husband is always like, nope. So I was like, okay, I won't buy it today, you guys. I'm still thinking about that little jacket. And it's almost a month later, so I'm like, man, I really might need to go back and see if they still have it, if I can get it. If they don't have it, I won't cry about it. I'll just know I'm. There's something else better coming for me. But if you find that you see something that you like and you are still thinking about it and imagining all the ways you would wear it and all the cute outfits you can make with it, then that's a really good sign that that would be a worthwhile investment for you. A lot of times I will see something that I think is cute, just like I was talking about with Debbie earlier, and then I'll go to look at it later, and I'm like, I don't really need it. I don't really want it. I've had so many times where I will fill up my shopping cart and then I'll go back and I'll look at stuff, and I'm like, I don't really like it. I don't really need it. I'm not as excited about it anymore. So just taking any amount of space can really give you that perspective shift. But I think, to answer your question directly, Carly, a week is a really great goal to get towards, or if you want to be like me. Now, I hardly shot for myself. And I will wait for a month later and then finally go back and get the thing. Any other questions, you guys?
Dawn
Hi, Heather, it's Dawn. Can you hear me?
Heather Rigg
Hi, Dawn. Yes, I can.
Dawn
My question is. As we've talked about, I've completed the actual closet audit. Now I'm uploading all of my images. But I'm also simultaneously, I guess as I prepare for the next step of the dream capsule, I'm looking back at my mood board for fall and winter, and wow. I'm just really noticing so much repetition and so much Repetition with what I have left in my closet. It's like I just keep falling into the same rut, and I feel like I can't get myself to think outside of my uniform.
Heather Rigg
I think.
Dawn
I think I've had a uniform, and I keep picking just a better version of that uniform. But the reason I wanted to join the collective is because there could be many other possibilities for me to achieve my goals for my style. Do you have any suggestions on how inspiration to get out of that mold?
Heather Rigg
Well, I'm curious, John. Do you feel like the mood board that you created earlier, do you feel like that is reflective of the wardrobe that you have now, or do you feel like that is kind of falling into the same camp of repetition?
Dawn
I do think. I think it's. I think it's more elevated, but I think it's still the same pattern of trousers, blouses, blazers, trousers, blouses, blazers, over and over again. And I think I'm just really afraid to think about skirts or dresses or. Because I.
Heather Rigg
They.
Dawn
I've always felt like when I try them on, they don't look good on me. So I. I don't know. I just feel like there's got to be something more fun and creative to wear than just trousers, blouses, and blazers.
Heather Rigg
Yeah. I think there's a couple different ways that we can go. I think the first thing we can do is look at what you have in your inventory and see how can we get more creative and fun and how we're styling all of this together and start to think of some other possibilities of pieces that you could add in. Or maybe it's just combinations that take you out of that outfit. Repetition, that everything's feeling the same. So we can do that maybe separately or at the same time. I would love for you to do a little bit more research and try to expand on your mood board and search for some other ideas. Maybe it's skirts, maybe it's dresses, or maybe you. If you have sort of, like celebrities that are inspiring to you or people that you kind of connect with their style, I think it's good to maybe just go back to the style mood board and try to expand on that a little bit and come up with. If. I don't know, tell me if you feel like this is something you're. Kate, like you have time. I know you're busy right now.
Dawn
Oh, no, I. I can definitely do that. I just find that when I'm. I think I'm not using Pinterest strategically. I think that I'm just looking at Pinterest like you. I think you said on the podcast yesterday that you have to teach it, and I think I'm not teaching it enough.
Heather Rigg
Yeah, I was just gonna say giving.
Dawn
Me blazers and trousers and glasses, if.
Heather Rigg
That'S all you have saved right now, it's gonna think that's what. It's just gonna give you more of the same. So instead of looking on Pinterest, which you get more specific in the search criteria and just kind of see what else you. You like, or even if you're not like, okay, I don't know that this is the right thing, but it's going to start to get you thinking differently or maybe on track for something else. You could even start, like, a separate mood board and just put it, like possibilities or something. And maybe it's not exactly right, but it's just going to start to kind of get us thinking, what else could we bring into the mix? You can also look off of Pinterest, too. Maybe you're going to check some different brands that you really like and see how they're styling pieces, see what else they have in their collections that aren't just trousers and blazers. There's brands that you've bought from before that you really like the general style that they have. You could look on Instagram, too, if you want to look at different brand pages and just kind of get some other ideas. I think moving outside of Pinterest could be helpful. And then you can always pin things back to your Pinterest board just to save them there. I think we should probably do a mix of both and try to get some additional inspiration for your style and also look at what you have and how we can mix it up and make it feel more fun and where there are some clear gaps that we want to bring in some other things. And remember, it doesn't need to necessarily be that you are covering every category of clothing. If you're not someone who naturally feels your best in skirts and dresses, maybe you're sticking with the trousers, but you're doing more interesting color combinations, or you're adding some fun prints, or you're accessorizing in new ways. There could be other little ways to spice up your outfits that don't force you into other types of clothing.
Dawn
Those are some really great suggestions. And I think, as I do that, one last thought is, I noticed in my closet edit that I don't see any star pieces, so I think I'm going to have that. I don't really know what a star piece is for me, but I'm going to. I do. Well, actually, I do. Like, I have some star bags. I have some star shoes. I guess I keep waiting for, like, a star blazer or star pants.
Heather Rigg
And yeah, maybe it is something that's like a really stunning color. Maybe it's in one of your dramatic colors or it's something that has a little bit of a texture or a pattern or something to it. Or, you know, it could be accessories. Maybe it's a beautiful scarf or something for the winter season coming up. Or it is a handbag. But we can also look at finding some more dynamic color clothing pieces that still fit within the things that you feel most like yourself. And we don't want to push the envelope so much that you feel like you're dressing up like somebody else.
Dawn
Makes sense. Thanks a lot, Heather. That was really helpful.
Heather Rigg
Yeah. And I know that we have one on one coming up, so we can really dive in there. I think that would be a good place for us to start.
Dawn
Sounds good. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks so much.
Heather Rigg
Me, too. Okay, Darlene, I see your question, too. Do I have a recommendation for sites that have a good selection of silver jewelry? I think it really depends on your style. And I know. Do you want to talk about that now? Because I know that you had sent in a question about. And you're next on my list. So this is perfect timing. You wanted to kind of go over some ways to add creativity into your outfits, and I was surprised. Arlene, I was looking at your mood boards a little bit in preparation to answer that question, and you didn't have classic as one of your results, which is surprising because I see so many. I'm sorry, not classic. Creative. I see so many creative elements on all three of the boards that you put together. So I kind of want to take another look at your quiz answers and see if that just was tied with something and didn't come up for you. Because I feel like you definitely need that creative element in there, for sure.
Darlene
Oh, 100%. I, you know, I'm. I'm very creative person. I'm an oil painter. I attend those kinds of events. I appreciate anything unique. I don't want to do anything like anybody else. I like to be different. And so I'm. I'm really pretty brave with my clothing, or I would like to be. But if, you know, when I finally get my closet photographed and put on the board, you'll see I have a lot of classic things. And so, you know, maybe I'll try to pump it up with something unique or different color combination. But I'm. I'm. You know, I want to maintain the elegance and. And the tastefulness. But, you know, I live in. I live in California work, more relaxed, and I'm definitely a creative person, so I was surprised that that didn't come up for me either. But then when I saw people with the purple hair and.
Dawn
The Doc Marten.
Darlene
Boots, I'm like, no, not that. So defined it. What is it? Where did. I don't know how.
Heather Rigg
No, no. I think the most important thing to keep in mind with the mood boards, and that's why we also have the subcategories where it's, like, creative and classic, you know, creative and feminine. Because what I tried to do in depicting each individual style is kind of going all the way with that one style. So natural is like 100 natural, creative is 100 creative. Very offbeat. But most of us are a combination of things, a blend. And that's the beauty of it, is coming up with your own unique take and spin on your top couple of types. So for some people, it's pretty 5050, and you kind of want just to focus in on two. For other people, it's three. Maybe there's a little fourth one that kind of gets thrown into the mix for certain occasions. So, yeah, you could have some elements of creativity without going like purple hair.
Dawn
Mohawks, all the things I love that I love.
Darlene
Vintage style. Yeah, Antic vintage. You can't give me too much lace or ruffle, but I want to counterbalance that with my jeans or, you know, that kind of thing. So, yeah, I really. I think there's some bohemian going on.
Heather Rigg
Yes, for sure. And I would put bohemian as a natural, feminine, and creative blend. So that's why I don't have bohemian as a style, because I really think it's a combination of.
Darlene
Right.
Heather Rigg
Those styles.
Darlene
I really relate to it, you know.
Heather Rigg
And I see bohemian threads through all of these boards. Like I said, even with your feminine, you have, I mean, so many boho. There's a little bit of Western influence in here, but, yeah, the lace and kind of the Aztec prints and all of the detailing, it's so fun. And even, like, you've got your natural style. This is super boho. So I think that might just be one of your style words, and you can come up with your own. It doesn't have to be the preset ones that I give you with the quiz. Maybe your. Maybe yours is, like, classic bohemian or something like that.
Darlene
This is just. Just looking at these Images just makes me swoon. And then when I come over to the. To the classic, I'm like, okay, I can't do the real buttoned up thing.
Heather Rigg
Yeah.
Darlene
That is just.
Heather Rigg
No, but I think, again, you can put your own spin on this. And you know what I was kind of thinking, what is the Christmas movie? Help Me Friends with Diane Keaton, the Family Stone. I was kind of thinking of her character. If you've seen that Mov.
Sandra
Yeah.
Heather Rigg
Outfits. But then she's got, like, the rings layered on, and it's just. It has. It feels creative, even though the garments that she's wearing are super classic. So I'm thinking even if you did some of that, you got to put your own accessories and spin on it.
Darlene
I. Yes. Jewelry. I'm silly for jewelry. In fact, I just put a question in. For jewelry, I'm asking for a watch for Christmas. So, you know, I want to get it right. And, yeah, I could do, like, the classic or the. The patterns or solid fabrics more. And then, you know, make it sassy with the jewelry or a hat or.
Heather Rigg
Yeah. I mean, this is classic. But see, like, there's still something.
Darlene
Love that.
Heather Rigg
Yeah, there's still something creative about this classic look. So it's really all about making it your own. And I think accessories are going to be a huge part of how your style really comes together. And if you want to have some of these timeless staple pieces in there, but then the way you put them together is going to look really unique for you.
Darlene
This is where I need you. This is that. I think that's it.
Heather Rigg
If you are up for an exercise, Darlene and I've seen a couple members doing this where you kind of create a board for each aspect of your style. What I would challenge you to do now is put one board and bring it all together.
Darlene
I'll do it.
Heather Rigg
Yeah.
Darlene
All the feminine, classic and whatever and natural, and just create the one board of all my top picks.
Heather Rigg
Yeah. Yeah. And you can kind of look through here and say, okay, I really love this one because it's a little bit edgier, a little bit different. You love this one because it's kind of representing, like, the layer jewelry.
Darlene
Right.
Heather Rigg
That kind of thing. And then, so just start, like, work from what you've already put together, so save all your favorites. And then I think you'll find that it's starting to come together on the one word, because I don't want you to have to feel like you're multiple. Your wardrobe is multiple personalities, and you're kind of Working from all of these different inspiration points, I really want you to bring it together so you can kind of reference one distinct look to inspire you. But having that creativity, it's fun because I think you'll have the added layer of deviating from what's on your board as well. Like, for some of us, it's like, okay, I want to keep it simple. I really like these looks. I kind of want to copy what I see here and then what I find. For the more creative types, it's like, okay, you might take that inspiration, but then you're going to do something completely different with it.
Darlene
Yeah, absolutely.
Heather Rigg
And just have fun.
Darlene
It's a mix too, as well, because my husband's an investment advisor and he's very, you know, literal. Very. And. But I'm going to meetings and conferences with him, and I'm hanging out with these people that I don't, you know, I don't really relate to, but that I feel like I need to represent my husband in a good way. So I need, like, upscale thing, still be me, but not. But just enough conservative me.
Heather Rigg
That makes complete sense. And I love that you are looking for ways to both support your husband at those events and also not lose yourself in it. So it's exactly that. It's like having those elegant pieces and then you do some unexpected jewelry with it or you add a great statement bag to bring your own little flare.
Darlene
Just to be comfortable.
Heather Rigg
Yes, exactly.
Darlene
For me, it has to jive psychically. You know, it has to make me feel good, not just look good, but it has to feel right on my body.
Heather Rigg
Yes, yes. So I would say, jewelry wise, I would, you know, more so than kind of giving you places that I would necessarily look, I think, of course, always comes back to what is your budget or what are you comfortable investing in for different jewelry pieces. But I would make sure that you're looking for more unique statement pieces, especially for the jewelry side of things. And you could look.
Darlene
Oh, I'm sorry, go ahead.
Heather Rigg
Oh, that's okay. Well, I mean, you could look anywhere from, you know, anthropology to Etsy to Saks Fifth Avenue. Like, I don't know what price point you're looking at, but I think you could find. Just make sure that you're prioritizing those creative, heavy, just kind of bold items. That was my thing.
Darlene
So if I'm feminine, if one of my things is feminine, can I wear big, chunky bracelets or a stack or can I do that? Really?
Heather Rigg
Oh, yeah, for sure. Because you can always pair it with more delicate Tops, Maybe you're gonna do a classic like this. I feel like this almost perfectly encompasses your style because it's got the classic button down. That's a beautiful, feminine skirt, and then it's got the boho jewelry added in. And so, yeah, you could definitely find the perfect blend of all of those elements, and I think so. It's always great to dress for your bone structure and to look for jewelry that complements your personal features. I will say, and I think I say this in the training, One of the exceptions to that is if you have a creative or dramatic style and you want to intentionally make a statement. Otherwise, if you want your accessories to be that conversation piece and if that feels fun and exciting for you, it doesn't all have to just blend in with your features. So if you're being strategic about it and it works with your personal style, 100%, you have the green light. For me, it's a really. Have fun with that. Yeah.
Debbie
Yeah.
Darlene
I feel like I've been set free.
Heather Rigg
Oh, good. Well, friends, remember all of the. All of the recommendations that I give you here. I want you to all learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist. I don't want anyone to feel boxed in of, like, okay, I have to follow. Follow all these checklists and what Heather said to do to dress for my body shape. Like, that's not fun. Nobody wants to feel constricted when you're getting dressed. It's really meant to empower you with information of, okay, if I have this particular hang up, I know how I can draw the eye somewhere else, or I know how I could visually make this area appeal bigger or smaller or what have you. It's really just to give you information that, you know, like, you can take that, and then you can leave the rest. Please don't ever feel like you're limited in what you can do.
Darlene
Thank you. You just made. I look forward to having that hour, 45 minutes, whatever it is that I get with you personally, so. But I don't want to do it yet. I have to.
Heather Rigg
Okay.
Darlene
So thank you so much, Heather.
Heather Rigg
You're so welcome. I'm excited for that too. Sandra. Yes. We can definitely cover your color palette. Question.
Sandra
Can you hear me?
Heather Rigg
I can. Hi.
Sandra
I'm fairly new, so I love my color palette.
Heather Rigg
Thank you.
Sandra
One of my colors is a cream, which is not a surprise to me because I think that's an attractive color on most people rather than, like, a stark white. But I have a lot of white shirts, and based on My mood board. I love white shirts.
Heather Rigg
Okay. That's okay.
Sandra
Rose up by themselves without me calling them out. And. And so I live in California. I have similar. It's funny to. It's really good to be on the phone calls, because you can. I can hear Darlene. I live in California. I live in a beach town. I live in Synclam, right by the water. Everything's really relaxed here. I'm a grandma. I'm retired, but I still want to have, like, a style, so. And Darlene and I have a similar thing where I don't want to look like everybody else, which is kind of what happens in Orange County.
Heather Rigg
It's not.
Sandra
It's not that uncommon for everybody to kind of wear the same thing and have the same character. And I'm just. I never fit that way. I'm more creative, so. And I feel like. My third word I noted this is less. Even though I took the test a couple of times. It sits between alluring and creative. And my word is maybe spicy.
Heather Rigg
Oh, that's a perfect blend of those.
Sandra
Like, I like maybe just a simple outfit, maybe with, like, a pattern belt, maybe embellished with stone or, like, animal print. I love an animal print. I think an animal print is a neutral, but I don't want to wear all animal. Just maybe the shoes or the belt or, you know, that kind of thing, so. And then also with Kaya's situation is it's all. I've always thought of myself as curvaceous, which I am based on my measurements, but when I put it into. Because you can Google and put your measurements into certain applications, and it's. One was inverted triangle, and then also rectangle. And so it was kind of like. Kind of like where I have that curve, you know, bigger shoulders, but not, like, super. Not really obvious. And so I feel like, Like, I'm. It's. I'm a mix, you know? And so that's just a new thought. Like, it's not something that I had expected. But back to my regular question is, how do I interpret the. How do I do the whites that I have? I'm not gonna. I'm gonna work. I'm really, really trying to work with my closet because I have, like, ample more than I need. We don't even need that many clothes here in California. I don't have Carly's problem where I need a new coat. I don't need one. I have lots of coats that I probably don't need.
Heather Rigg
Yeah. Well, the last time I was in California for my cousin's wedding. It was cold and rainy and I was like, what happened? Why is California broken? But I'm glad to hear things are maybe back on track.
Sandra
Well, it's raining right now, but it's the season. It's okay. Generally we've had an amazing summer and you just don't need that many, you know, you don't need that much.
Heather Rigg
Sure. Yeah. Okay. So first I just want to touch on what you said about your body shape. I my best advice is not to measure the circumference of your figure because that doesn't. That will factor in curve like curvature. And so really just to get a good clean read on your body is just stand in front of a mirror if you want to hold up the measuring tape and see if your shoulders are just wider set than your hips. So not the around about measurement. Okay. That could be throwing it off if you're putting that in for some kind of calculation online. So it's more just like what did your body look like?
Darlene
Okay.
Heather Rigg
You know, just kind of from that straight on view. If you are comfortable, if you want to send in a photo of you in form fitting clothing, I'm happy to just weigh in and confirm you are. I'd love for you to post it in the group if you're comfortable because it's a good learning opportunity. But if not, you can also email it to us just so we can kind of get a peek and give you our best advice on that. But again, you could try kind of a combination of the tips for the different shapes and just see what you feel best in. Now, as far as wearing your white pieces that you have. Yes. Don't throw things away, especially if it otherwise suits you. If it's a great fit, if it works with your personal style, the easiest way to pull off a white top is to do a red lip, honestly, because that's going to help break up the. The top against the whites of your teeth. Because really that's one of the things is when you wear a really like a pure white top, it just tends to bring out discoloration elsewhere. Most of us don't have pure like bright white teeth. Now you could do bleaching and maybe you do have very white teeth, but for that reason, just having a little bit of warmth often is very what makes it more flattering for us. Right. We don't want you to look aged or discolored or anything like that. So if you do a red lip, one of your best reds, you have some great reds in your palette. I think the lighter One is kind of like a pretty true cherry red. So that would look really nice if that, again, suits your style, which I see you have some of the creative. I feel like if you're comfortable with doing a bold lip, that would really help. You could also try. Even doing your coral color might work too, just to kind of, again, create some separation between your teeth and your top. You could also wear some jewelry to break it up. Yeah, yeah. Maybe even some, like, chunkier necklaces than that. If you want just, again, to give a little bit more separation there, you could layer it with another piece if it's not too hot for you, just to soften it a little bit so it's not so much white up against your face. But I think the easiest thing is just kind of countering it with your makeup.
Sandra
Okay.
Heather Rigg
Yeah.
Sandra
That was my biggest thing, is this. It's harder to find things that are off white.
Heather Rigg
It is. I know.
Sandra
It's just more difficult. Like, you can see all these other colors, black and gray and navy, and they all come in different variants, but white is harder.
Heather Rigg
It is. And you might. I mean, you could create a lot of the similar looks from your mood board, and I. I should share my screen because I do have everything pulled up here. But you could create some similar looks, even if it's not with, like, one of your best whites. Maybe it's another color from your palette, and you could create a similar look. Maybe you do an outfit like this, but instead of the bright white top, you're doing the fern green or something. If you want, like, as you are adding things in, eventually you could maybe consider bringing in some of your other colors. Even this kind of sand color might be easier for you to find sometimes, versus the. The cream white. But, like, this is a great example, too, of. We've got the. The bright white top, but then you're softening it with another color over top too.
Sandra
Yeah, it was fun. It's really fun. It's funny to see the mood board. You're just like, who are you?
Heather Rigg
Do you feel like it's. It's far off from where your wardrobe is right now? Is it really asking?
Sandra
Yeah, I think it's there. I think it's there. It's just rarely do I feel like the mood board looks. So I'm. I've been working the last three months on putting those things together, so I look like that.
Heather Rigg
The ones. Yeah.
Sandra
And I. And I know that I have felt that way in the past. I've gone places where I have, like, a big, chunky belt, maybe just hanging with a, you know like a prairie skirt and like just like a plain T shirt tank. And I feel like that's what I feel like, like the picture looks like. And so it's just that combining those two things and so obviously pruning the closet, getting rid of things that I don't feel that way in.
Heather Rigg
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sandra
Why waste my time?
Heather Rigg
Exactly. We're just sing the bar for what you have and making sure that when you look in your wardrobe, it's all pieces that you are excited to wear. And it sometimes is more of a process to get there, whether that means getting rid of things, adding things, usually it's a combination of that over time. So just be patient, trust the process. But we're here to support too, as you're building outfits and we're offering little tips to refine things and making sure that you feel not even just like the woman on your Pinterest board, but like your best version of that.

“When I took a look at [my shopping board]... why are these things even on here? And there are... a couple of things, like, bright, shiny things that I've never worn because they just feel too bold and look at me. Kind of things that I love having but don't make me feel comfortable wearing.”
