I'm looking at Kenny Schrader right now.
B
He's a drinker in the show. I mean, yeah.
A
How in the world did we agree to do a podcast?
B
I like spending time with you.
A
That makes me happy.
B
Well, it's all about making you happy.
A
We're always honest.
B
We don't know that we're not in trouble already. You know, sometimes truthful. What makes you think you're not a little different?
A
You're weird. Herman Schrader.
B
There you are, Kenny, in the middle of America.
A
You're home. That makes me happy.
B
Haven't been home much lately, but I'm home for a couple weeks. I'm home.
A
I think about you often. And I think what makes him decide to go to Lebanon, Missouri at Midway and run? And then you. And then you like, well, I'm not going to race Saturday. I'm going to ride my motorcycle To Peevley. How do you make these decisions?
B
Okay, the car we took to Lebanon we ran at one time at Moberly this year and we won. We went Sedalia and run fifth and it needed to be worked on a little bit more. So we wanted to go to Lebanon Friday because that was a same rules, different rule package. It's USRA rules. So we just wanted to run that car. And this week is new coin with the ump model.
A
Oh yeah.
B
So I didn't want to run it because it need to be ready for new coin and erased Wednesday at Indianapolis Raceway park in the open wheel.
A
Hey, how did that go?
B
It went okay. We won everything in our age group.
A
I know everything I'm wanting.
B
It probably took five of those kids the equal our age. But okay, we call it 28 cars. We qualified fourth run fourth in our heat which transferred us. Started 11th run seventh. Screwed up a little bit. It was good. It was a lot of fun. I want to thank the McTary and family for bringing us good car. When we were getting ready to go in the parade lap, I was like now tell me again why I'm doing this. You know, because the little things whole ass, that's a 5, 8 smile. Well, you know, it's same place around trucks and Xfinity and stuff, but the midges haul ass there. So it was a lot of fun.
A
Charlie, you know Kenny Schraders from Valley Park, Missouri and we chose Rusty put his shop on St. Louis Avenue in Valley park and Kenny Schrader would run open wheel midgets. And to this day, about once or twice a year, I'll remind Everybody, go to YouTube and punch in Kenny Schrader open wheel midget. Rossberg, Ohio Eldora. So with that being said, Kenny, you, you ran open wheel early in your career, made a living at it when you got in that on Wednesday.
B
Didn't eat much then. Wasn't much of a living.
A
The stories are endless. But I mean when you get an open wheel midget, does the ergonomics like, you know, turn the fuel on, flip the switch. I bet that stuff just comes right back.
B
Well, they didn't change anything. The cars are like they were when I drove them. So yeah, I mean it's, it's, it's all the same. We went up there, we surprise, surprised a couple guys when we qualified fourth. I said, hell, same track it was. And I think first time went up there was probably 77 or so. Wow. The cars ain't changed, track ain't changed. Still just got two pedals. And steering wheel, it's not like anything's changed. Just get in there and go.
A
You bring up a good point for all your open wheel fans that are listening right now. I mean if you just change the bot. The front body pieces where you know, Maybe in the 70s the front nose on those open wheel midgets were kind of round but I mean they're still on torsion bars and I mean I know their motors are more up to date but you are right? Yeah. I mean what has changed on open wheel midgets?
B
Well, we, we ran called Focus. I don't know what they actually call it, the All Star series, but it's like a Ford focus engine. It's 15,000 hours, injection ignition, everything. A new Toyota midget engine is $70,000 for a four cylinder midget engine.
A
I just can't get over that we.
B
Ran one second slower at the, up there at IRP. The 15,000 hour engines run one second slower. And you know, you can, you understand what kind of group more, more racers that opens up to. When you say spending. You know you got a complete car. You buy a used car and put a new engine in, you can be, you can be in business for 25, 000 versus 70 for an engine. So it's a lot of fun. They're, they're growing the series. Series been around long? Not the series but the type car has been around for a long time. But it's gained a lot more traction being the other ones are getting astronomical in price.
A
Charlie, do you mind if we stay here for a little bit? Can we teach you about open wheel midges? Just a little bit longer and then we'll get to nascar.
C
First of all, why are you asking me? This is your show. You can do whatever you want.
A
No, no, no. This is her. Hey, Kenny Schrader's right there. Raider said, Herman, you run the show. I'll answer.
C
I meant, I meant you too. It's your show. Herman Schrader.
B
Yeah. And I didn't see the cup races this weekend. That's the cup race.
A
So just a little bit more about midgets. So I heard Tony Stewart one time say, I did not know there was over 300 open wheel midgets in America. Kenny are. Although they're very famous. Are, are they, are they rare? I mean it doesn't seem like they are to me.
B
I don't know that at 300. I mean I think there's probably a lot more than that. Hell, there's 300 at Chili bowl, right?
A
I think they're all there.
B
Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, I mean there's. There's a lot. It's just another class of cars. Like, you know, you have to sprint cars, the late miles to modify. I mean just the midges. Midgets were unbelievable popular after the war and World War II. And then they started pricing themselves. Everybody had Curtis Offies. Curtis was a chassis company or a Curtis copy in which they were simple to copy. And they got running. It was. It's like some of our other stuff now where everybody went same damn speed and it was like impossible to pass. And they ran on smaller. A lot of pavement tracks and smaller. And it just got to where it wasn't that exciting. And then someone started running just the old jalopies, you know, which turned in or modifieds over the years and that gained a lot of traction. So I mean it's just a. It used to be a stepping stone for a driver to run the midgets and then sprint cars and you go to Winchester and Salem and scare the hell out of yourself and some IndyCar driver, IndyCar team would hire you and next thing you know you're an IndyCar driver. But that, that path went away in the 60s and 70s. Yeah. Rich Vogler sick 70s and 80s say.
A
Okay, we'll leave after this one. We'll go to NASCAR in a minute. Give me three drivers in open wheel midgets that are your heroes. Like, oh my God.
B
Well, I mean it wasn't that they were just open wheel guys, but I mean, Mel Kenyon was around forever. I mean, good name. Yeah. Mel burnt all the fingers off his hand.
A
Oh my gosh.
B
At Milwaukee. And he's got a glove with a metal thing on the bottom. It's got a hole in it and a peg on the steering wheel. And he just do it like that. That's amazing. Mel Kenyon. I mean, age. All them guys ran midgets. You know, they all ran midgets at one point.
A
That the Mel Kenyon story, Charlie. That, that's that like Dick Trickle says, you gotta wanna when you. Well, he wanted it.
B
Yeah. Kenyon did that. Merle Battenhausen lost an arm in an Indy car crash at Michigan where, you know, the fuel tanks on the outside hits the wall, fire. He's undoes his belts. He's pushing down off the car, off the car to get start easing out of the cockpit even though it's still moving and hits the wall again. He come back and raced with the prosthetic arm.
A
Yeah.
B
Jim Hurdabees burn up at.
A
These are Epic Milwaukee.
B
And he had his hands like this. He had them. They could set them.
A
Oh, my God.
B
They had to set them like this. It was really good. It could put it over a steering wheel. And the most important part is a beer bottle slid right up from the bottom.
A
Oh, my God.
B
Yeah. So I got. I got to watch him hold the steering wheel and I got him to watch him slide the beer bottle up too.
A
Amazing. That is unbelievable. These are incredible names. If any of the kids study it and maybe google their names, they were. My gosh. And then I would just see pictures of those guys flipping and their arms going and then the arm restraints and.
B
Yeah, we went to.
A
That year.
B
We took Junior Dale junior on our trip Saturday night. We went to Belleville, Kansas.
A
Wow.
B
And that's the biggest race of the year. Was always used to be at Belleville. And Junior was up on all his racing stuff and he met sleepy trip. And Tripp's like, wow, your Dale Earnhardt Jr. You know, which he was just a kid then and he's sleepy Trip. You know, I mean, it was. It was just pretty neat.
A
You know what? That's really a good segue. Dale earn. Our junior is. I mean, Dale Jr. And Cal Petty, man, they are historians beyond belief. And Kenny, you know, a lot remember a lot. So, yeah, shout out to you three. You guys save a lot of. I think Dale Jr. And Kenny Schrader saved more than anybody.
B
A lot of old.
A
I'm still using hundreds and hundreds of years from now when they. When they dig up the earth from Dale junior's property, they're gonna go, what the hell happened here? All these cars.
B
This was a hell of a wreck.

Okay, everybody, thank you for being patient and I hope that all you open wheel people. I still see the responses out there. Kenny, they're still watching you right here on Herman Schrader. And we are going to go to Daytona. Listen, I'm gonna just give everybody a highlight. We're going to talk all about it, but we got Ryan Blaney wins the race. Track house makes it official. Connor Zillich is going to take over for Daniel Suarez. As we all said that Xfinity race. Parker Kligerman filled in for Conor and one. But let's start with the cup race. So, Kenny, you had a busy weekend. Just a minute. I know how much you like dad Dave Blaney. When Ryan wins. What's it make you feel like?
B
Old.
A
Me, too.
B
You know, it's always other people's kids that make you feel older. Yours don't make you feel older. But I think a Dave, Dave's kid, you know, being a champion, a Cup champion and just being able to kick their ass at any time. Not that he does every week, but he's one of the guys for sure. That's. That's pretty neat. And they. A little bit. I've been around him. He's got his even. I don't know, Dave was like even keel, you know, But I never really been around Dave when he's really mad. I don't. I think Ryan maybe got a little bit more of a temper of heard him on radio some. He gets pretty wound up, which is good.
A
Yeah. And Ryan Blaney's videos are so fun. Oh, my God. He dances and plays music and sings grunge music. But, oh, by the way, everybody, Charlie Marlo will bring up the top 16. Locked in. Me and Kenny will go through that. All right, Kenny and Charlie, Ken, let's start with you. We're gonna go with this because for months we've heard how bad this car is, and it seemed like the last two weeks NASCAR has changed the narrative. Richmond was incredible, and everybody said it was the tire. But then, listen to this. Ryan Blaney lap 158, he was 13th. Two laps later, lap 160, he was leading man. When was the last time we saw somebody gain 13 spots in two laps at Daytona? Just comment about that. It's big news.
B
I didn't know it. You, you just made me aware of that. I didn't know. I just, I saw the last lap.
A
But 13 spots in two laps?
B
Yeah, usually the only way to do that is when you're the guy that makes it through, but that was different. You know, just, they can say whatever they want about the car, you know, and they're going to. We can't stop what they say about it. Richmond, good show. Daytona, good show we've had. I mean, it's just if it. Is it not a last half a lap change lead for the finish, now, it's not considered a good show. I mean, I haven't seen where it's put on a bad show. And we used to have a lot of bad shows. We had a lot of bad shows.
A
Chris Blair, the general manager over at the Worldwide Technology Raceway, he'll text me and then I'll decide what I want to share. But Chris says, since when did we start judging everything and worrying about the crowd sizes? But, hey, they came. Here's one thing that I thought was interesting. I just want to give my opinion on this. I asked Kenny for his opinion all the time. One thing that I was very impressed with is somehow in the cup race, they were four wide. The pitchers out there, they were four wide. It's a start, finish line, three wide right behind him. And they made it. Now, they didn't end the Xfinity race, but it seemed like for some reason they have figured it out and it was a hell of a race. But that, that, that picture, I'm thinking, I'm thinking, Kenny, we go back to the old days where it took a day, you know, Lee Petty, you know, and that photo finished and then there was a car in there that was a lap down. They had to wait a day back when Lee Petty won. But here we are all these years later, and I mean, Ryan Blaney won by feet. I mean, the photo finish nowadays is much needed and they, they just did not wreck. But I, I would encourage everybody to think like that. When NASCAR first started, it took a day to figure out the winner.
B
Yeah, it was a couple days, actually. Johnny, Bonnie, Bo Camp, the 73 car. I think the other one was Weatherly maybe, but he was lap down Johnny Bocamp, I think.
A
Yeah, it was so eleva Race before we go to the playoffs, which we're going to give a lot of time to because that's, that's the talk now. You know, there's a lot of betting going on now. Who's going to win the championship. You and I go to these dirt races. That's going to be a talking point. And I'm like, my God, go to Vegas, pick a roulette wheel. I mean, we, we got 10 races left and we're going to whittle it down to the final four. And NASCAR doesn't like us to say Final Four because I guess, Charlie, what does the deal with the final Four? Did, did basketball start? The word, the phrase Final Four.
C
Yeah, I think it's kind of like, you know how the super bowl. You can't even say the Super Bowl. You have to call it the big game. So I'm sure there's some trademark, some trademark rights there to final Four.
B
Well, they should have had, they should have had three or five then.
A
Yeah. Okay. In the news, Connor Zillich. You know, let's just go with. He is going to take over now. They made it official. He is going to drive for team track house. Daniel Suarez announced a month ago that I'm leaving and that we all knew it was Connor Zillich. So they finally announced it. Kenny, I want to talk to you specifically about this broken collarbone. He's not damaged goods, I wouldn't think. Kenny, they say the plate is going to make him stronger. What is your opinion on his collarbone?
B
I've. I broke one of them twice and the other one once I broke a 2 inch shoulder harness.
A
Damn.
B
Broke a 2 inch piece out. Just boom. Oh my God. Yeah. Out of Ascot, California. Really muddy. Came off turn two. We run fifth or sixth Turkey Night 100 lap midget race. Reached up for a tear off because, you know, he couldn't put tear offs on. And if you had 12, 14, you were like, couldn't see, you know, because they were so bad. And I reached for a tear off. I'm like, oh man, I wish I wouldn't have seen. I wish I couldn't see this because Wolfie was stopped right in front of me. Doug.
A
Oh my God.
B
So I ran in him and when it got done turning over and landed upside down in the water. So. Oh, I knew something was hurt, but it was just collarbone. But it's, it's no big babies break cower bones if they fall out of a crib. Shouldn't fall out of a crib, but fall off.
A
They do.
B
They do they break cower bones then? It was the end of the year when I broke mine, so they didn't do anything to it. If I'd had to race, you know, they'd have pinned it or something. So, yeah, his cowbone will be great. It'll heal back and have a little plate on it, too. So it'd just be better than. Better than good. That's. That's no big deal.
A
Yeah. And listen, everybody. I mean, this nice, you know, he is not damaged goods. Signing him up for a cup driver. And I al, you really give me the best information right there. That's incredible. Kenny, that your story there? And plus svg, they said he broke a collarbone too, so.
B
Yeah.
A
Anything else to say about that?
B
No.
A
Okay, but.
B
No, but there's some old picture, you know, you say, you said he subbed Parker. Subbed far.
A
Oh, we're gonna get to that.
B
Okay, hang on. Okay, hang on, everybody.
A
Yeah, I'm like you. Okay, so we're doing cup first. So Ryan Blaney wins. It comes from 13th to the win, two laps, incredible finish. And now to the extra news. Connor Zilich, team track house. They make it official, you know, and he's out there roughed up a little bit, but he's doing all the interviews. He's good. So the question begs, you know, hey, he's roughed up. Oh, my God, is he okay? And you just verified it. That collarbone is nothing.
B
Yeah, so.
A
So there you go, everybody.
B
It's an aggravation. He knows it, but it's. He'll be fine.
A
Okay, good. Good stuff there. We put that to bed. Everyone counter zillich. When it gets all healed up, he's going to be better. So watch out, everybody.

Like Kenny Schrader just said, this. This story is incredible. We're going to go to the Xfinity series for a minute here because we have so much stories about the points. Okay. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Calls Parker Clearman up and says Parker, Connor Zillich is banged up a little bit. The first playoff race for Xfinity is Bristol. Would you mind taking over for Connor for the Xfinity race at Daytona? Parker said, love to. Now, remember, Kenny, we talked about this. Parker Clearman won this Xfinity race last year, but he was deemed illegal for being too low in that orange and white number 48 Xfinity car. So Connor starts the race. So he gets the points on Saturday. Friday night, he comes down pit road. Parker Kligerman gets in the car and wins the race flat out, like, no drama, just like wins it. Now, they did crash like mad men behind him in Turns 3 and 4, but Parker was clearly way ahead and clearly going to win it.
B
That was after the fact he was going to win the race.
A
Was it? Same story. Just don't. I remember David Pearson filling in for Dale Earnhardt senior at Darlington.
B
Yeah. Yeah. I don't what year it was. 79, 80 something. Pearson won a race. But I, I don't know, Charlie, if Dale started that race or not. Something tells me that David ran at the whole race. There's pictures that's happened more than a few times of back in the day when the winner and the trophy girl would sit on the roof of the car with their feet on the hood like. Yeah. And there's pictures of. Of that with two drivers sitting up there.
A
It's good stuff.
B
Yeah.
C
1979 Talladega 500.
B
Oh, he won at. I thought he won it.
A
Give us details, Charlie, because Darlington. What race are you talking about, Charlie?
C
Okay, I got him finishing second in that race when he filled in for Dillon hart Senior in 79 and David Pearson.
A
Yeah, there's. There's the Darlington one, too. All right, let me look that up. But I guess the point is, Kenny, is, you know, moving forward, this happens and it's okay.
C
And yeah, also, also 79 Southern 500. He won that one. Yep.
B
But did it shows David winning? Okay. Doesn't show Dale in it. So David started that race. This is one of the. It's happened I don't know how many times, but this is the one where they actually made a, you know, that's. You made a driver change, but you made it before the race. This is a. It's happened more than a few times, but not that many where the driver change during the race and they win.
A
So I want to, I want to go somewhere with this just a little bit. And this is more me. But I, you know, you, you did inside Nextel cup on Monday nights. You, you've done a lot of tv. Parker Kligerman is a really interesting character because I've told Parker, said Parker, like you're really a good race car driver. Why did you give up on racing so quick? You're a young man. You know, he mentioned to me it's just so hard to find the money. These drivers are forced. Kenny. To bring the sponsorship. Bring the money. I mean, here's Parker last year winning races. To me, it's just. I know, I know it is what it is, but it is so hard for me because I'm a racer to see Parker clergyman doing straight up tv working for whoever it is, but yet he's a winner. It's hard to get the money to run these damn cars.
B
Yeah, well, Parker's. Parker's name was already very, very higher on the list for when someone needed a fill in. But you know, it moved a little higher even.
A
Charlie, how old is Parker Kligerman?
C
I believe 35.
A
Okay, that even, that even makes my case better. That's insane.
C
35 years old, just turned, just turned 35 August 8th.
A
Somebody put him in a solid ride, but he might make more money doing TV than he is at Xfinity Series. I, these guys tell me that, you know, listen, he's our, he's our, he's like family. I mean, our dear friend Justin Augar. He says, herman, I'm embarrassed to tell you how little money I make. So, you know, he brings the Brandt money and it's sad to say everybody but that, that's just the way we are. Me and Schrader work hard for our sponsorships, let's put it that way.
C
Can you give us a ballpark, A ballpark salary without, without giving exactly. Of an Xfinity driver?
B
I don't have a clue.
A
I don't have a clue either. But I'm gonna, I'm gonna make a.
B
Guesstimate we don't have a clue. But we'll. We'll tell you how much.
A
I'm thinking some of these drivers are making not over a hundred thousand a year because they're bringing the sponsorship and they're not taking a percentage of it. And in the day, like, if you brought $6 million, you know you're. You're gonna make. You know you're gonna make two and a half million a year. Now, these guys, I mean, six men a year, that's like a massive sponsor nowadays.
B
We can guarantee you for sure, Charlie, that we don't have a clue what we're talking about.
A
Oh, well. So we opened it up. Hey, as I always say, respond right here. Somebody will. It's not. It's not enough, I can tell you that. Okay, this is where you all come in. Everybody. Charlie, it is. It is all you now, buddy. The. The playoffs are, as Mark Martin said. Oh, that's a catchy name. In all playoffs, nobody plays.
B
The race off the radio.
A
So the first race is. Darlington next week. We. Are we starting with 16 drivers?
B
Charlie?
C
Yes, sir.
A
It's your show.
C
You want me just ring them all off and tell everybody who's in the top 16. We got Kyle Larson, William Byron, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Christopher Bell, Shane Van Gisbergen, Chase Elliott, Chase Briscoe, Bubba Wallace, Austin Cindric Ross, Chastain, Joey Logano. That's the top 12. So right now, the current cut line is the last four drivers. Josh Berry, Tyler Redick, Austin Dillon, and Alex Bowman.
B
We had 12 winners this year.
C
I think they had more than that.
A
How many winners? Charlie, we love you for this. Here we go.
C
All right, let's just count it like this. Larson won three, Byron won two, Hamlin won four, Blaney, one two. Seabell won three, Van Gisbergen won four. Chase Elliott won a race. Chase Brisco won a race, Bubba Wallace won a race. Austin Citrick won a race. Chastain won a race. Logano won a race. Josh Barry won a race. Austin Dillon won a race. I believe that is 14.
B
14. 14 winners. So two. Two people. The last two point their way in.
A
Okay, so same subject, but, I mean, I know Mark Martin does not want this point system, but 14 winners, that's. That's pretty big deal. I can remember when Rusty and Jeff Gordon were winning 10 a year, one driver. Sounds to me like it's super competitive right now. Yeah, a lot of winners. Okay, so, Kenny, here's what I'm saying. I've got. Now this. We're just playing, obviously. This is like going to the roulette wheel. And, Charlie, you keep track of this, and we'll have fun with it every week. So I got Denny Hamlin. Okay, Kenny, we get three drivers, and I know we're all guessing. And, Charlie, you got to play, too. I'm gonna go with Denny. I'll say it like this. I'm gonna go with William Byron, and here's why. Because Willie B. Okay, this is a joke, but just go with me. Has won more races than he really won because he lost them all at the end of the. Willie, he won the regular season championship. Super consistent. Even if this was. And I know everybody hates hearing this, he would be leading the points if it was the old point system. And that just feeds right into. More the way this is. Okay, I'm going with Willie. William Byron, because of what I just said. I'm gonna go with Denny Hamlin because I just want him to. And then between. It was between Christopher Bell and. And Kyle Larson, and I'm going with Christopher Bell. So those are my three.
B
Three for what?
A
Just those three, you know, to go to Phoenix. I'm just saying three. It's a good.
B
What are you going to do about the fourth guy? Just let someone else do.
A
Okay. I like that challenge. Okay. I'm gonna go with Chase Elliot. Charlie, have you wrote that down?
C
Well, we have it here. It's recorded, so yes.
A
Okay.
B
I. I'm gonna have to think about it, Charlie, but I'm gonna throw two out there right off the bat. I'm gonna go with Chase and Kyle Larson. Yeah, well, first off, I. I'm a. I'm a Hendrick guy.
A
Oh, yeah.
B
But I'm gonna throw them two in there right off the bat.
A
I don't know why. I just. I don't know why I didn't go with Kyle Larson. I just feel like he's been roughed up lately. Maybe when we look back at his show, it'll be the old Southern thing. Hey, Wallace, you did two things wrong. You thought, and you thought wrong. Yeah, Charlie, what do you got?
C
All right, I'll go with Willie B. Just. Just consistency. I also want Denny Hamlin to win. I think he deserves a championship, and he's good for business. Always ruffling feathers. I'm going to go with Christopher Bell. Just come coming on at the right time here at the end. I think he'll start to peak a little bit. And then to me, it's not prisoner of the moment, but Ryan Blaney, he just Wins at Daytona. And as long as the championship is at Phoenix, we know Penske's got the setup there, right? So, yeah, I'll tell you what.
A
If.
C
If you made me bet right now, who's gonna win? I would bet Blaney just for that reason, that Penske.
A
Until.
C
Until you take it from him. I'm gonna bet a Penske driver.
A
Kenny.
B
Well, if you're gonna. If. If. Now, this is not a whole lot of thought in this, but I'll throw in my other two, then I'll go with Willie B. And Newman. Not Newman.
A
Bowman. No.
B
Blaine.
A
Okay, listen to this. I'm just. Okay, here it is for everybody. Not on the podcast. I just printed this off this morning. Okay. And I know this should be like. You teach me, Kenny. Duh. Big red truck. Here we are again. Your boss, Mr. H. Rick Hendrick. All four cars in the championship. I mean, man, he's. He's doing something right. He's got it going on just a third of them.
C
Can I just say, though, we're all. We're all front runners because we all picked guys in the top five. Like, none of us even took any type of a wild card.
A
Okay, let's do that. I'll go with. Wild card. I'll go with. I'll go with. Tyler Redick is my wild card.
C
I like that.
A
And. And that could mean going deep. That could mean good, getting close. What do you got, Kenny, I have.
B
To get back with you. Let me go.
A
Okay, I'll give you. I'll give you some. Charlie, give him the bottom four. You just said it.
B
Well, it doesn't. It doesn't have. It could be anybody out of the. Out of the eight that I didn't choose.
A
True.
B
Yeah, true. Okay. It's more thought in that.
A
If you're.

Everything we do goes through the roof because this is what you've all been waiting for. This is where we're all going to make your money, do your little bets. So have fun with it. And Charlie, we can even bring up some people involved in the next show. You know what people are saying, where we're at and just have fun with it. Okay. Wow. That was. That was crazy. That went quick. Man, oh man. This. Dirt racing, Kenny. This. We're switching everybody. We're going dirt racing. That was almost 40 minutes of NASCAR and Daytona and open wheel midget racing. This Bobby Pierce is on a heater and we. I know we've seen it before. I know that we had Scott Bloomquist. I know we have Billy Moyer. But there was a big gap, you know, there was a big gap between Billy Moyer and Bloomer. Take. Take Bloomquist and Moyer out of it. Who in between. Who has ever been on a heater like, like Bobby Pierce?
B
He is winning everything against half the cars.
A
True. Because Lucas Oil is over there.
B
Right. And I'm not taking anything away because Bobby has proven that he can win any of those races, you know, but it's, it's, you know, it's like the best sprint car driver this year. Well, world outlaws and high limits, you know, in the sprint cars and Lucas Oil and world outlaws in the late models. So, you know, and they both got strong fields, but they're divided up and we'll know a lot more in two weeks. I guess it is the world 100 or 100. That's when everybody gets together and those guys that are chasing points, you know, which most of the heavy hitters are chasing, one series or the other, you know, that's when they get together and you really get to see it is.
A
Straight me out here. Is the world 100. Is that Lucas Oil?
B
It's UMP.
A
That's what I thought. What was the one. Okay. At the very end of the year, last year, they determined the Lucas.
B
The Lucas Oil finale. Zeldor, I think it is.
A
That's right.
B
Yeah.
A
They moved that from Plymouth or.
B
No, no, it was. It used to be at Portsmouth. It's Portsmouth.
A
And the dirt track World championship.
B
Yeah.
A
Okay. So, yeah, the dirt track world championship moved to Eldora. What? October.
B
You know what? And we just said something. There's no way we can go any farther without saying it because we just said the Lucas Oil series. And this weekend we lost Forest Lucas.
A
Oh, my gosh. Yes. Go ahead, Kenny.
B
Yeah, I mean, just what a good, good man, Good family they've done. You know, he built. He built his empire there from very humble beginnings. Sell, selling that oil, blending that oil, making that oil, having it made, and such a supporter of motorsports. You saw Lucas Oil everywhere, you know, sponsoring series, sponsoring races and everything. And lost forests. This, this weekend.
A
You know, more than I know. But here from a distance, I'm like, okay, Forest Lucas, Lucas Oil. They sponsor the dome at Indianapolis. They build a dirt track. And I once said, where in the world does Forrest get all his money? And they said he's as big overseas as he is in America. But boy, every single truck stop you go into, yeah, his product is in there.
B
Sell a lot of product, Charlie.
A
If you were to Google Lucas Oil, just as we pay tribute to Forest Lucas, give us a synopsis. I just want to say this too, Kenny Wheatland, Missouri. Here's a Force Lucas. You said humble beginnings. Built this palace, this beautiful dirt track in the middle of nowhere. We ran the SRX series there. This was the first dirt track, in my opinion. Fill in here. But I mean, the pits are paved. Wash bay, tech inspection bay. I mean, Wheatland was kind of like with Forest Lucas that was kind of like the Bruton Smith of nascar. Bruton was the first one to make a nice NASCAR track. Forest, man, he really made the Wheatland a show place.
B
Yeah. And you know, they got the, the lake there where they do the boat drag races. They got the, the off road trucks and buggies and stuff that run turns that look like Bristol on that off road course they got down there, just an amazing facility. Invested millions in it over the years and you know, be curious to see what happens to it, but something tells me it'll be there. Yeah.
A
Absolutely incredible. I kind of think of Rossberg, Ohio and Eldora. Earl built Rosberg in the middle of nowhere. And you kind of look at Force Lucas and it's easy. It's easy. Everybody but you kind of gotta go through some roads to get to Wheatland. It's. It's easy, though, because it's Lake Ozarks and it's a beautiful area. Charlie, what do you got as an overview as we continue this small tribute to Forest Lucas?
C
Okay, this is via Wikipedia. I'm seeing it produces in markets approximately 270 formulations in 40 countries in the U.S. lucas Oil is sold in more than 30,000 auto parts stores, displaying the most variety of shelf products of any oil company and at truck stops nationwide.
A
Well, there we go, Kenny. 40 countries.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
C
Founded in 1989.
A
Wow.
B
I went. I was out in his office before we flew into la and they had. It was in a Quonset hut. Yes.
A
Building.
B
Yeah, Yeah, I did. See, he told me one time they asked him about sponsoring the stadium. You know, naming rights at stadium. He said, he said we. He thought they were. They just called them in as a test run for the domes sales department. So let's just make a dry run on these guys. And they wound up buying the naming rights.
A
That's incredible. I mean, that's sort of. That's. That's a really big deal. Okay, so, Kenny Schrader. Everybody loves this part of the show. They truly do. I see it. What are you gonna do this weekend? Where's your list? Where's your list?
B
I know where I'm going, baby. It's new coin. It's Labor Day weekend, so I'm going do coin.
A
So I like this part, and we've talked about it before, but Treb Jacoby has been saving his race car. They just got their motor rebuilt. They're going to run the modified race. And I said to myself, now straighten me out, Kenny. I said, the coin. AJ Foyt, Mario Andretti, Camping funnel cakes, History. Wally Anderson. I mean, just remind everybody, Kenny, as the coin comes up, what is the history? And why do so many open wheel people look at the coin? And I mean, it's, It's a pilgrimage. Pilgrimage. You're going there.
B
Yeah, it's. I mean, it's no different than Illinois State Fair, Springfield or the Hoosier Hunter used to be at the Indy fairgrounds. You know, new coins, not near big areas, Springfield or Indianapolis or anything. It's down to Southern Illinois State Fair. But it's big for me because I went, I want to say it was 63. I thought it was 64, but 63 with my daddy. And hell, I didn't know anything about Daytona or Indianapolis. But du coin, I'd been there and that was big. You know, we went there and watched all those heroes run. They ran three days in a row with the Midgets and this Indy cars. They were Indy cars then and use that stock cars. And I just thought that was the biggest race was the only thing about going to coin was I had promised that I'd get up because the Silver Crown cars, which Indy cars ran on Labor Day, they ran on Monday, but had promised I would not give a problem getting up. Going to school Tuesday because Tuesday was always first day of school. But that was just new coin. I just love it.
A
The little things for me, definitely I haven't done what you've done, but from the times I've done, the things that, you know, I remember is they all got. All the grandstands are covered and when the announcer talks, you. You hear it, you know, echoing. I mean, there's just something about a mile and there's not. Kenny, how many are around now? I mean, are they all. There's not very many. Right. We lost the one in India.
B
Indy. We lost Syracuse.
A
Wow.
B
There's a couple more. I think that the motorcycles run on, but not really gear. They're kind of harsh tracks. Motorcycle run arm, but not really geared up for cars. The only two that really know of that run. There might be something out west. I. I'm not up on it, but Springfield newcoin, which I was at Springfield two weeks ago and du coin this weekend we qualify the modified Saturday along with the Silver Crown race, which I'm going to run. Silver Crown car.
A
Oh, Kitty. Hans, why you keep doing this to me?
B
I'm gonna run.
A
I love you.
B
Shane Cochran's backup car. I thought I wasn't gonna get to because Shane tumped over at Springfield. I mean, he got upside down pretty big, I guess.
A
Okay, everybody, hold on. Let me debull this for you. That means it's a really, really bad flip in Kenny's terms.
B
He got upside down pretty good. And you can't get upside down gracefully on a mile. You know, it's got. If you get slowed down to half speed before you turn over, you're still going pretty damn fast. But. But they're. They had another car, so they're putting the engine out of that car into Shane's personal car. And I'm gonna still run the other car. So. And then we run. Sunday is usec. Saturday is daytime. Sunday night is arca late miles. And we run our modified race.
A
And that's awesome.
B
And we run a modified race.
A
Well, and in this segment, like this. When did. Do you remember they put. How long have lights been in? Have they been there for a long time?
B
Yeah, you know, I think a long time. They've been there quite a while. Yeah. Early 2000s, maybe. Early 2000s, something like that. Yeah.
A
So they haven't been there. They weren't there in AJ's days, that's for sure.
B
No. Okay, I gotta dig up picture here. You keep talking.
A
Okay, Charlie, this is everybody's. I. I keep. These are highlights. It is crazy. We do a whole show and everybody wants to talk about is the jokes. I got one of my own, but I'll add in at the end. What do you got, Charlie?
C
All right, before the jokes, we always tell everybody about the merch line. All the T shirts, hoodies, hats, and all that go to shop.dirtymomedia.com to check out all the new stuff. All right, we got one joke from Twitter,/X, that is richie3635. And he asks, what do you call a nun that sleepwalks? What do you call a nun that sleepwalks?
A
It's already funny. Go ahead.
C
A Roman Catholic. Roman.
A
That is really good.
C
She's Roman.
B
All right.
C
And then we got. College football is starting here, so I looked up some football jokes. So we got three football jokes. What happens to football players that go blind? What happens to football players that go blind?
A
No. That's kind of scary.
C
They become referees.
A
Are you blind?
C
How do chickens. How do chickens encourage their football teams? Anybody? They egg them on.
A
Good ones.
C
Corny. Where do football players go when they need a new uniform? Think about it. It's a state. It's a state. New uniform. They go to the state of New New Jersey.
A
Oh, that was too good.
C
Do you want to do yours? I have this. I have one that's a little bit risque.
A
Okay.
C
I felt like those were kind of corny.
A
I'm a child, so I just. I just saw it. I thought it was funny. Here we go. I farted in my wallet. Now I have gas money. I like it. I like it.
C
Okay, and then the final one. This is kind of kind of racing related in the end. What's the difference between a tire and 365 used condoms? What's the difference between a tire.
B
I know, I know, I know, I know.
C
What is it?
B
One's a good year. The other one's a really good year.
C
There you go. Yep. One's a good year. The other's a great year.
B
Yeah.
C
Well done.
B
Oh, my God. Hey, Kenny.
A
Yes.
B
Okay, let me find it. All right.
A
Oh. Oh, my gosh.
B
That's the cushion. That's the cushion. That new coin 2013 on the mile dirt that's up between turns three and four.
A
They are. They are so good at Kenny with those big right rear tires. I mean, I know it's hard to do. I know it's unbelievably hard. Those tires. Can they touch the wall? Can you get away with it every.
B
Once in a while or not as long as you're on the throttle when you hit it.
A
Yeah. I mean, it won't flatten it or nothing.
B
Oh, yeah. You don't hit it that hard.
A
Wow. That's. That's. That's. That's beautiful. As the dirt. People say that's poetry.
B
Poetry.
A
Yeah. All right, everybody. Charlie and I and Kenny, we've been. You know, our goal is always to be in an hour because people go, man, an hour shows just right. So you got it. An hour show. And I think that's it. Kenny said he's going to decoyne. Go ahead.
B
Garage sale.
A
Okay, everybody.
C
And. And a win and your birthday.
B
Come on. Yeah. And win and birthday.
A
First of all, my favorite thing about winning Saturday night at Pele is when I came off the track, Kenny Schrader was right there and gave me thumbs up. And when Kenny Schrader gives you approval, it's like, you know, half thumb up, depending which thumb you used. For people that don't know Kenny Schrader's got a half a thumb on one of his hands. There is a. There is a generation gap, Kenny. They don't know everything. Yeah, but I. We won Saturday night and came off the track and there was Kenny, and that made me very happy. And the garage sale. Yes, man, I thought of you and Anne every hour on the hour because I know how many fire suits and everybody. I mean, is Anne or how many fire suits do you have? Not just yours, but. Huh.
B
There's a few. There's over 100 down there.
A
We had a wonderful garage sale. We had a small area called Kenny's Corner. 90 over 95 was a real garage sale. Sell a pair of shoes for 50 cents, you know, but it was a great garage sale. I. You know, it was. It was so much fun. It really turned into fan club. You know, where there was. It was a big portion were race fans, but some people just didn't know what was going on. They just saw garage sale signs. It was wonderful. And I. I think what I can say to you, and I have to tell you offline, is that Kim is Selling more fire suits right now because she's on Facebook. And boy, don't underestimate Facebook. She is selling most of the fire suits right now through Facebook. And I called our friend Mitchell Stapleton. I said, mitchell, Kim and myself are getting into a big argument. She wants this much money. I think that's too much. And Mitchell, I said, I know you're the historian. So she's still. She's going right now. She just went up to UPS with like, 12 fire suits, and she's having the time of her life. But, yeah, Kenny, it was awesome. It was a good time.
B
Casino money, buddy.
A
You just. You took the words right out of my mouth.
B
I know what it is.
A
I told her. I said, look, do whatever the hell you want to do. You know, you're going to get the money one way or the other. Just take it all. Take it all. You know, And I. And I learned that from you because, you know, when you collected Social Security, you told me, you told Anne how much money you wanted every month. It made me laugh. Kenny gets. Okay, everybody, I'm gonna let you. You're going to comment, but listen to this. This is funny. Kenny Schrader told me that he asked his wife for allowance from his Social Security. And I love that.
B
I get a little bit.
A
But you just. You penciled out. I mean, how you just come up with this figure? Yeah, I like it.
B
It's my Social Security.
A
Yeah, but the wife's take it because they, you know. So, yes, the garage sale ended up. It's good being Kim. And Kim just take all the money because you're going to take it anyway. Going to the casino. But it was a great time. All right, Kenny's going to do coin Friday night. I am going to Tri City Speedway, Granite City, Illinois. Saturday is peevely.
B
And I think Tri Cities closed this weekend.
A
Okay, well, then I guess I'm not going there.
B
I think it is.
A
I looked. Well, you know what for sure, probably because it is the coin.
B
Well, it's just Memorial Day weekend. Oh, that's our Labor Day weekend. Yeah, I think they were closed. F check.
A
You know, this should be a big weekend for dirt racing. I remember running the mod at, like, Spoon River, Farmer City.
B
They have that whole deal again still.
A
Well, if that's the case, you're gonna.
B
Go racing this weekend.
A
I'm gonna be. Yeah, I'm gonna be peevely Saturday night. And if we're not running Granite, I'll be Sunday at Quincy and. And then we'll figure it out. All right. Every Charlie, you got anything?
C
That was good.
A
You guys did it all until the next Herman Schrader show. We'll see y' all next time.
B
Bye.
C
See ya.
