Kenny Schrader
He had a drinker in the. I mean, yeah, you.
Herman Schrader
How in the world did we agree to do a podcast?
Kenny Schrader
I like spending time with you.
Herman Schrader
That makes me happy.
Kenny Schrader
Well, it's all about making you happy.
Herman Schrader
We're always honest.
Kenny Schrader
We don't know that we're not in trouble already. And sometimes truthful. What makes you think you're not a little different?
Herman Schrader
You're weird too. Herman Schrader Supercharged so here's the Funny part, everybody. It took me three times to start that. The. The first time I messed up. The second time, Kenny interrupted on purpose.
Kenny Schrader
Well, to tell you that we. You were doing better.
Herman Schrader
Thank you. Okay, here we are.
Kenny Schrader
How was Friday night?
Herman Schrader
You're going up there. Okay, I'm gonna go first.
Kenny Schrader
I didn't mean to get out of line, but I was. I meant to ask you that right off the bat.
Herman Schrader
Okay. This week, Friday night, I went to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I think I've drank too much coffee every day.
Kenny Schrader
Do we need to start over again?
Herman Schrader
No, no, we're not starting over Iowa. Yeah. Friday night I went to Cedar Rapids, Iowa at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. Now, what's interesting about this place is this is the house that Kenny Schrader built.
Kenny Schrader
No, no, no. I have never ran. I mean, I've only ran there half dozen times.
Herman Schrader
When they.
Kenny Schrader
But you won a lot there. We. It worked out pretty good, but it's very historic. I mean, track's been there since 19 oh something. It was dirt and they paved it. And do you know what year it was when they paved it?
Herman Schrader
God, I don't know.
Kenny Schrader
Early 90s maybe.
Herman Schrader
Was it, did it start out dirt?
Kenny Schrader
Charlie, that's your cue. Hawkeye down. Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Herman Schrader
Well, here's what's interesting about it. Landon Castle, the NASCAR driver, called me and said, hey, dad, Roger. Roger's a successful businessman. Fourteen businesses, Kenny in Cedar Rapids ranging, you name it, trash companies and you know, you name it all types of stuff. But he took over the fairgrounds and saved it. And he's got it rolling now. It's, it's, it's gaining traction. I was very impressed. Fifteen cars in, in the class that I ran. There it is, Charlie. Go ahead.
Charlie
1989.
Herman Schrader
They paved it. So the. Yeah, the NASCAR driver and his dad, Landon Castle's dad, Roger, has saved this historic place. It's got the big grandstands, everybody with, you know, the top on it. So I went up there and I won my heat and I finished second. There was a 14 year old kid, he started fifth, I started six. And they dropped the green flag and he got through traffic quicker than me. And all I could do was keep pace with him and. But what was really great was that there was a nice crowd. Obviously not standing room only, but a nice crowd, Kenny. And you're going there soon?
Kenny Schrader
We're going there this weekend. We had to be up there anyway. And Landon said, hey, you want to drive the car? And I said, yeah, hell yeah. So, yeah, looking forward to it.
Herman Schrader
This Friday night they're looking forward to you. And behind the grandstands, you're going to love it. Go in there. I think they'll still have them set up like Ed Sanger's race car, you know, some sprint car or midgets, things like that. But really a good tribute to Iowa racing from the past you're gonna like.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, well, I was still got, you know, ton of racetracks, very, very good racing. But man, back in the day, remember we run Grant City, they'd have a one of those thousand to win races and them Iowa boys would come down and it was like, oh, we can't play with them. They were, they were King Kong there.
Herman Schrader
Doesn't Iowa have the largest count of dirt tracks in America? Just the state of Iowa?
Kenny Schrader
I don't know. We used to be able to look at National Speedway directories. It's not, I think it's still online. But California was big. Wow. California was huge. And Iowa was right up there.
Herman Schrader
Charlie, I see our statistician. I hear you pressing the keys. So that was Friday night and then Saturday night I went to Peavely, Missouri, Federated Federated Auto Raceway park and holy moly, you talk about a wild ass race track. Had character again. They're still struggling.
Kenny Schrader
I, I didn't, I didn't, I heard it did not have character. It was just miserably rough.
Herman Schrader
Oh God.
Kenny Schrader
It was not. We couldn't hide it with just character. It was, we were out there yesterday, Ray Marlowe and myself and talked to Josh and Josh is driving himself crazy, rightfully so. But he's, he's working on it. He's working on it hard. And you know, he, I think he will get it. He's already had it this year. Yeah, you know, it's just, we're just offering the procedure a little bit from week to week, but he'll get it.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. And I, and I believe that. I have faith. So after a battle royale between myself and Trevor Neville, I was passing for the lead and you can't run side by side with Trevor Neville very long. He starts short circuiting and he pile drive me in the door. And there's a lot that went on, but I finally passed left door. So I'm on.
Kenny Schrader
You were on the outside.
Herman Schrader
I go where I gotta go. I favor the bottom. I favor the bottom because I, it's, I do some passing down there. Hey, it's like you taught me. They think they're low.
Kenny Schrader
There's still more room down there.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, so I passed him on the last Lap got third and so I finished third. So, yeah, a second on Friday night and then a third on Saturday night. Okay. I know you did a lot of racing.
Kenny Schrader
We went to Hutchinson Speedway. Hutchinson, Kansas. Actually, it's Salt City Raceway or something. Very historic track. If you Google Hutchinson Speedway. Fire. 1974. Big, big, big. Really? Yeah. Afternoon show. Grandstands full. Big grandstands. Grandstands full. And they just kept piling in on the start. Dusty dude. And they just kept piling. Burn up some guys. I mean, severely. You, you look at them photos, Charlie. 1974 Hutchinson, Kansas wreck, but neat track. People are working hard. They've got it back open. They're doing good. Had a USEC Silver Crown cars practiced Friday and race Saturday. Had a great race. Had like one yellow until they started burning off tires at the end. But good race, first time winner and good crowds. So it was just. It was exciting. It was. It was neat to go to a lot of fun. We. We won first night and second night we won fourth place.
Herman Schrader
I liked your post. You said we won. Now it's time to watch sprint cars.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, that was cool.
Kenny Schrader
It's a big old half and they had two cars out, out of the place. 3 and 4. I don't remember. 1 and 2. I don't think it does either. 3 and 4 doesn't have a catch fence. You know, there's a parking lot out there. Luckily, the first car that went out, by gosh, they. Yeah, they had two out for the weekend. First car out, it wasn't bad. It didn't get to the cars in the parking lot because the tree stopped it.
Herman Schrader
God, it's not funny, but.
Kenny Schrader
No, it's not funny, but everybody was okay.
Herman Schrader
You know, it's kind of like the softball fields, Charlie. You know, when you go to play softball and they got the parking lots, it's like, why is nobody parking out there by the outfield? It's because the balls will eventually get over the fence. Same thing in racing. Be careful parking, you know, out there by the corners. Them sprint cars, well, they will gain altitude, won't they, Kenny?
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, the Silver Crown car went out and didn't. It didn't turn. What? It. Something broke something. It didn't turn. It just went out. They said the sprint car, I didn't see it, but he ran over a tire, you know, launching. Launching system. Ran over a tire and just went out.
Herman Schrader
Your T shirt is gaining my attention. Is that Kokomo, Indiana?
Kenny Schrader
Kokomo. It was on the top left of the drawer today.
Herman Schrader
US Redneck dirt racer. Hey, we. It's funny when you see us dirt racers. It's like, where did you get that shirt with no print? Yeah, everything 99 of our clothing is, you know, T shirts.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Charlie. Okay. Okay, everybody, we're gonna go back to what we talked about early. What's coffee? Yeah, I'm drinking coffee too.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, but we went to show at 5 o' clock last week. I didn't have to have coffee.
Herman Schrader
Was that liquor you were drinking last week?
Kenny Schrader
Duh. Okay, go ahead.
Herman Schrader
Charlie says Indiana and Florida for most dirt tracks. I believe Indiana. But Florida, I don't believe.
Kenny Schrader
No.
Charlie
AI. An AI overview said Indiana, Florida. They also talk about Iowa and Ohio. But then if you go to Wikipedia and it just lists different tracks, they're. They're missing tracks here because in Illinois.
Herman Schrader
Fake news.
Charlie
Illinois, Illinois. They don't even have Granite City listed on.
Kenny Schrader
See if you can see that website. This is the most recent one I got. And because National Speed.
Herman Schrader
National Speedway Direction.
Kenny Schrader
This was the only thing you carried in your briefcase.
Herman Schrader
Yes.
Kenny Schrader
Because this told you everything, you know? Yeah.
Herman Schrader
I love that they quit making it.
Kenny Schrader
Well, I think it may be online now. You know, I don't know, but it's.
Charlie
Wikipedia lists New York as having.
Kenny Schrader
About New York. New York. Oh, yeah. It's got more than that.
Herman Schrader
Fairgrounds. Lots of fairgrounds.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. And Illinois was up there high. Illinois, Indiana, New York, California. California was big. Okay, what are we supposed to be talking about?
Herman Schrader
Okay, we are going to talk about nascar. And right now, Kenny and Charlie, I have this race broke down in sections. So there's things to talk about. You know, we'll break it down in sections. Denny Hamlin wins. It is his 58th cup win. There was speculation five wins ago. Can Denny Hamlin get the 60? He's won four this year, Kenny.
Kenny Schrader
Okay. I've not always been a huge supporter of Denny. It used. It just aggravated me that he could not run a race and go down pit road every time.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Every race. And not get a penalty.
Herman Schrader
Oh, pit road speed.
Kenny Schrader
But one thing that he can do, he's always been able to do and he can still do is win races. And yesterday he cleanly screwed them guys over that. Kept trying to pass him. Another thing he hasn't done yet but he can do is win a championship. He still. I mean, you can't take him out of the mix. So he. He won that thing yesterday. In my opinion, he won it with just a whole lot of talent and experience and just skill. He just. He drove that car.
Herman Schrader
Is. He is he is he a shoe in for a hall of famer.
Kenny Schrader
I gotta believe he is championship or not. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I gotta believe he is.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, me too. I was very impressed with how he restarted and let those guys get side by side with him. And he rolled that outside lane and come down that hill and just kept the lead and he just did it.
Kenny Schrader
He got it done when it was time to step up, he did. But he's all, I mean he's just smart racer.
Herman Schrader
Okay. We got, we got this deal in sections. Like I said after the race, Kyle Larson said, and I'm quoting, what Denny did was impressive. Holding off four new tires in Chase Briscoe because Chase Briscoe put on four new tires and passed those guys and then got to Denny Hamlin. And the whole world thought Chase was going to blow by him. Chase just about wrecked himself, you know, coming off of four, hitting Denny in the left rear.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, well, you and he Chase was running a teammate.
Herman Schrader
Yes.
Kenny Schrader
Right. Yeah. He run anybody. Right. But especially a teammate. But he couldn't, couldn't get it done. I mean Denny just knew what to do.
Herman Schrader
Well, there's lots of videos out there of Mark Martin back in the day running Dale Senior down, the man in black, the number three. So Mark Martin runs Dale Senior down. And you and I both know coming up off turn four, that is when you're on the inside, it's like, it's like death. It's no fun talk about that.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, yeah. You wouldn't think one car with coming from the bottom be able to go all the way up to the wall. One car with bound up a little bit, you know, losing 8 foot of track, 7 foot, whatever. Holy heck, it makes all the difference in the world. Dover is a fun place. It's, it's real fun place. You know, 400 miles now instead of 500, which doesn't make those any difference. I mean it's a little easier. But those, those cats would have been running just as hard if they had to run 100 miles more or not, you know. Yeah, but it's, it's very challenging track.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, that outside is sometimes the place to be and I think Chase past everybody with those new tires and then, and then that outside lane. If you're a good car like Denny. Hey, just for a minute here we, we still got way more to talk about Denny. But that is back to back second place finishes for Chase Briscoe. Yeah, he's arrived. He's arrived for real. I mean like he's racking them. He's doing it now, you know.
Kenny Schrader
Well, you know, know. Coach Gibbs had figured he'd arrived, so I hired him, you know, so we hired him and he's just proven it.

Herman Schrader
Okay, my next deal here was, you know, Denny Hamlin did not like this racetrack. And Denny Hamlin, here's his quote. It took me 12 years to figure this place out. I have to drive it differently than any other racetrack in nascar. You're. You were good there, and there's great video out there. Tell me different. What is different about Dover compared to any other track?
Kenny Schrader
Oh, I don't, man, you just. You get to any track you go to, you run a couple laps, then you kind of figure out what you got to do. But Dover, so easy to drive down in that turn so hard. And you know, it's a Kyle Petty track. Back up your entry. Get that thing where when it lands and then in that throttle early. I don't know. I listened to Denny interview. He said watching Jimmy Johnson and Martin Truex and some of them guys that had a lot of success there and just watching them and watching them and watching them and he, he obviously worked hard at it and he figured it out.
Herman Schrader
I think we've talked about this before. Here's my experience. We talked about this last week. I never liked Dover, and I don't know if Anybody listened to last week's episode, but it was Dale Earnhardt Senior accidentally teaching me. We dropped the green flag, we both qualify bad. And I about hit Dale Senior in the butt like three times. And I'm. Oh, oh, I'm driving in too hard.
Kenny Schrader
It's easy to figure out after when you see it like that.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Okay. This.
Kenny Schrader
Clean race.
Herman Schrader
Clean race.
Kenny Schrader
Clean race.
Herman Schrader
Oh, yes. What's in my notes here? Clean race. But who would have thought a rain delay would really add to the dynamics? I was incredibly impressed that NASCAR took two hours to finish 11 laps. I, I'd have throw the towel in and say, y' all go home. But Kenny, they took two hours to finish 11 laps. I mean, kudos to them because it was a legit win. Nobody could say anything.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, it was a, Was it a. I think I heard 54 minute red flag or something.
Herman Schrader
You know, it was.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Yeah. I think that's what I'm pretty sure I heard. And, you know, they had time, I guess, and I don't know all the TV stuff, but I guess they had enough time there because it had run so clean and stuff. And yes. The fact that, you know, the. Denny was leading and Denny still won.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
But it got, it got a lot more interesting, you know, I mean, like three restarts. Yeah. Chase had a shot at him. Briscoe had, I mean, Elliot. Yes. C. Bell had a shot. Aim. Chase. Elliott had a shot at him. Briscoe had a shot at him. Larson was there, you know, second row, lurking. Yeah. I mean, yes, they, they did great. I mean, it was, it just added to the, added to the race. And they could have called it. They, they, they could have called it. But then as soon as they call it, that's when that sun popped out and it's like, oh, this place gonna dry quick. And they got all the air titans and stuff. And you know, then you leave and it's like, well, maybe. But they did, they did good. They do good. They do good 95% of the time.
Herman Schrader
Boy.
Kenny Schrader
But the other 5%, everybody wants to crucify them.
Herman Schrader
Point that. Well, that's a whole nother subject right there.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
But my reminder for everybody, there's a fact out there, and it's, it's not even debatable. Out of everything in motorsports and still, and still the champion of the world is nascar. I, I looked at the TV ratings from last week, and we have been talking about this, but nascar, complain about them all you want. Everybody, they are still by far, like, not even close. You know, over 2 million views.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Let's go. Champion of the U.S. well, yeah, I.
Herman Schrader
Know, but you knew. I exaggerate. That's my job.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
You think the world, they don't race in the world. Yeah, they ran Mexico.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
They run Canada.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. But yeah, they got it going on. And. Okay, you could look at Dover and say, you know, a lot of people there, but it sure now isn't full. Said, no, it wasn't. But you know, how much more people, how many percentage wise people were there than five years ago? I'm just telling you, it's going, it's, it's coming back, brother.
Herman Schrader
Rusty's got a great take. And we had a Kenny conversation with Rusty, and Charlie aired it in its entirety, but he's been, you know, cutting it up in segments. And the next Kenny conversation is going to be Rusty's take on nascar, and I think everybody should listen to that, too. You and Rusty are in the same realm, you know, and he tells why. But yeah, okay, okay. This one's a little controversial, but I, but I, it. Listen, it's got to be talked about. And I'm the one gonna say this, so don't get uncomfortable about it because I know it's going to go where you don't want it to go.
Kenny Schrader
I don't care what you say. I'm not the one saying it. Go ahead.
Herman Schrader
Okay. Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan, they're suing nascar. The fans don't like Denny Hamlin. Denny Hamlin has come out. Go ahead. What was you gonna say?
Kenny Schrader
There's Denny Hamlin fans, too.
Herman Schrader
Yes, yes. Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan own 2311. All the while, Denny Hamlin's over here driving for Joe Gibbs. It is a very, very different scenario. It's very different. So they're suing nascar and, and Denny taunts the fans. He is so mentally strong. To me, it is very impressive because he talks crap. And he says, he goes, listen, you all fuel me. You know, I, I, I, I wanted the restarts. He said, I wanted more restarts because I didn't want to end the race going well, you know, if I have another restart, I'm going to lose the race. He goes, no, I want more restarts. I want you to talk crap to me. He says it fuels his passion. And there's this little meme out there with this little kid going, but I don't call it on him because in the media center before the week starts, you know, 2311 lost all the appeals and all the injunctions. So 2311 in front row. They're racing without charters now. But, but Denny says in the media center before the race, before the weekend, he goes, listen everybody, we're gonna get to December. The real court case is going to happen. And then he goes out and wins the world. How does he do that, Kenny?
Kenny Schrader
Because just what you said, he's, he's mentally strong. He's mentally strong and I do believe Darrell Waltrip was like that years ago. They could boo and whatever back in the day when they didn't like him before your brother punted him and then they all start liking him again. But mentally, I mean, I think he does thrive on it, which is great and you know, be curious to see what comes out in December 1st. But we got a championship and a whole lot of races run for then, so we'll just worry about that then. Now that losing the charter deal with the way our sport is right now, when there's 39, 40 cars, 37 to 40 cars showing up for a 40 car starting field is no danger of anybody going home right now. And if they do have 43 cars and three are going home, those last four spots are going to be decided by qualifying, which those cars should have plenty of speed to qualify over somebody that's just dropping in and runs part time. But you know, they are taking a financial hit right now when they, when they're not running as a charter, it is a financial hit to them, but they're, they're betting on the end game that they're going to get what they want. So we'll just see. But that's all in December.
Herman Schrader
And Jeff Cook today. Everybody knows we taped this on Monday, one hour ago, basically. Nine o' clock Monday morning. Jeff Gluck, I'm going to read this verbatim because I like what you said there, Kenny. So here's what Jeff Gluck says. This is an interesting rulebook update just now. NASCAR has a new policy where they can limit the number of entries to 40. Then another new rule where the top open cars and owner points would get those spots. Did everybody understand that part? Now there's way more. So in other words, they can put open cars in which 2311 in front row are our open cars. This would prevent 2311 or front row from missing a race this season if there were more than 40 cars. I assume this would help NASCAR's argument that the teams do not need a preliminary injunction to race as charter teams because they won't miss a race. So that seems like goodwill and maybe a tactical move on NASCAR's part. But I just wanted to say that. That that is breaking news on this Monday morning that the rule book has been changed and Jeff Cluck is the one that pointed out it is on his X account. Okay. Anything else to say about that, Kenny?
Kenny Schrader
No, I didn't want to talk about the first place, but go ahead.
Herman Schrader
Right, right.
Kenny Schrader
But no, I know you got to. Because that's a big deal. That's a big deal. They've talked about it for a long time. You know, getting if should they be racing as charters? I never thought they should, but I'm not involved. But they didn't sign the deal, so, you know, you don't have a contract.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Okay. So Dover was a good race. Jeff Cluck's poll right now, 56% of the people say it was a great race. Other 44%. No, that's 11,000 people. So Jeff Gluck is the king at that. It's pretty impressive. Just. It's just. It's bull. But it's something we talk about.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, but we've also. We've spoiled our people so bad with races that if they're not side by side, it's not a good race because that was a good race.
Herman Schrader
And that makes me think about. And we talked about this before, but just a reminder, you know, monster jam trucks, they just. Just a mo. You know, remember me and you. Bigfoot, The Ford Bigfoot from here in north St. Louis. I mean, just Bigfoot just looking at it.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
But no, that's not enough. Now. Now they get. Now they're doing backflips. The trucks are flipping.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
The snowmobiles are doing flips. And that's how much society has changed. If. If you're not side by side and people aren't doing flips. Wow. Okay. Kenny Schrader and Charlie. This one is unbelievable. Now we are moving on, everybody. We are switching subjects.
Kenny Schrader
Jokes.
Herman Schrader
No.
Kenny Schrader
Okay.
Herman Schrader
We still got more. A race within the race. The two ties. Ty Dillon, Ty Gibbs.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Out of everything, the. These two ties have outrun some of the best.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Head to head.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. They finished ahead of them.
Herman Schrader
Always. Debool and everything. Kenny Schrader, ladies and gentlemen.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. No, they're the ones that survived.
Herman Schrader
Ty Dillon. And the cliches keep on going. Listen to this. The two ties, Ty Dillon versus Ty Gibbs is racing at Indy. Head to head. Whoever finishes ahead of who wins $1 million in season challenge. And Ty Dillon is the grandson of Richard Childers. Ty Gibbs is the grandson of coach Joe Gibbs.
Kenny Schrader
Your thoughts well, you know, I didn't pay a lot of attention to that thing when it started. Didn't understand it. I mean, I, I didn't really know about it. I knew there was something going on.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
And then all of a sudden, multi car wreck at Atlanta, which was, I believe, the first race, and I said, oh, this really screwed up. Everybody's. Whatever you call it, what do you call it? Bracket. Yeah. What the hell's that? But anyway, so yeah, I followed it and followed it. Now, Ty Dillon, when he punted that car, one of the Hendrick cars on the last lap at Sonoma. Yeah. And my wife was like, what was that for? I said, for a chance for a million dollars, you know, gotta stay there, you know. And then when they were talking on pit road afterwards. And which, which car did he dump?
Herman Schrader
Alex Bowman.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, he just knocked him out of the way, cost him a couple spots. But it's like, boy, Bowman didn't seem very mad. I think I'd have had a little bit of problem with that. But, you know, it's pretty exciting. But that multi car wreck, Atlanta put these guys in this position.
Herman Schrader
Charlie, this is your wheelhouse because I call you the Sportster. You're all Sportster guy. They, they had a press conference with Denny Hamlin because basically this was Denny's idea. And they said it in the press conference at Dover. They said, danny, this is basically your ideal. NASCAR's trying to, trying to take credit for it. And Denny's like, look, it was not ideal what happened, but the concept is still good. What are your thoughts?
Charlie
Yeah, I'm sure NASCAR would have hoped it would be more like Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin in the top four and then advancing to the top two. But because of the wreck, like Schrader said in Atlanta, I do think it's created kind of a cool sidebar. And so again, probably not the way they wanted it to happen, but it gave guys like Ty Dillon, who doesn't get a lot of publicity, John Hunter Nemechek.
Herman Schrader
Right.
Charlie
It was kind of nice story lines. You look at yesterday, they had an hour to kill in the rain delay. And Alan Cavana and Daniel Trotta, they did a very good job of playing up the storylines of interviewing Nemechek, interviewing Ty Dillon. So for those guys who don't get a lot of publicity, I think it ended up being kind of a cool sidebar.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, they do it go. Do they do it again next year?
Kenny Schrader
I'd be paying a lot more attention to it from the get Go. Because I understand what it is now. But you know, if the if for the if for the hero guys, it would have been in it yesterday. Well, hell, they're racing for the win anyway. You know, say, oh good, one of the hero guys going to get an extra million dollars. I think it's neat the way it worked out.
Herman Schrader
I agree with that so many times. Kenny, you know, yourself and Bob Sergeant, you guys are good promoters. You're like, well, this is the first year, we're going to build it. Next year should be better. I, Charlie, do you agree with that, that hey, let's do it again next year? Because now everybody knows everybody's been trained.
Charlie
Yeah. And I think it's cool for, for tnt, for Turner to have that for their races. Just another fun storyline. And I don't think you can have as bad luck. You might have similar luck. I don't think. I don't think you can have as bad luck as that wreck at Atlanta. And then the weird. There were so many road courses afterwards, it just kind of created a. Yeah, a weird amount of drivers, different types of drivers that were advancing.
Kenny Schrader
But I think that that wreck put more story into it.
Herman Schrader
That's another way to look at it.
Kenny Schrader
I think that wreck put more story into it.
Herman Schrader
I got to agree with that. And I never thought about that point of view. But yeah, because everybody's like, well, the wreck, the wreck, I mean, we'll never forget about the wreck because that's what we're talking about. Yeah. Okay, everybody, listen up. Kenny Schrader and Charlie, I'm gonna say something. I don't think it's out of the realm. I just think we've found our next legit and we talked about it last week. Connor Zillich wins the Xfinity race. That's his fourth win. He's. He's kind of in that Shane Van Gisbergen deal where he learned to race in Europe. He's. He's really good on road courses. But here he is. He's won at Pocono. He's one at Dover. Is Connor Zillich at 18 years old, is he kind of like the next Jeff Gordon? Is he? Because he seems to me like with the way NASCAR advertises, NASCAR feels he's like he's not going to miss like Connor Zillich is the next Jeff Gordon. What's your thought?
Kenny Schrader
You go first, Charlie.
Charlie
I think he's NASCAR's biggest thing. I'm trying to think of the last driver that was hyped as much as Connor Zillis. Would you have to go back to Joey Logano for a guy with this much hype? I do think, you know, saying he's going to be Jeff Gordon is tough. Just because Jeff Gordon had such a successful career, so I wouldn't want to put those expectations on him. But he seems like he is. Can't miss.
Kenny Schrader
I don't know how Connor's background. So I'm. I'm not good. Charlie's question. Yeah. What is Connor's background?
Herman Schrader
Okay, Kenny, I'm gonna. I'm gonna give you this then. And I like what Charlie said, so it's going to make me ask you this. Is Connor Zillich the next Christopher Bell?
Kenny Schrader
Well, I don't make any difference with Jeff Gordon. Christopher Bell if he's next young guy that's going to come in and do real good.
Herman Schrader
Well, Charlie makes a good point, Kenny. You know. You know, we love Justin and Connor Zillich said in his post race after, when he goes. Justin Augar is the dad of junior motorsports. He pretty much heads the meetings up. Connor Zillich gives a shout out to Justin Augar. I agree with what Charlie said. When was the last time somebody came out of the xfinity series that's gonna go to the cup series? You know, it looks like he's going to go with track house. Right? That's why they got rid of Daniel Suarez. I mean. I mean, that's what everybody's saying.
Kenny Schrader
Well, you just said it.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, but I want your opinion on it because everybody values your opinion because, you know, you've done so much.
Kenny Schrader
He's obviously got a ton of talent, you know, and there's no reason to think that he's not going to do good. We've had and he's getting it done in the Xfinity series. We've had a whole lot of kids over the years that win six or seven ARCA races, and they're not, you know, in a year, and they're not here anymore for whatever reason. A lot of it is also funding, you know, didn't get picked up, needed funding or whatever, but there's no reason to believe that he's not going to do real good going into the cup series. I mean, I'm. I'm excited to see what he does because he's. He's already proven he can run and he's.
Herman Schrader
He's a just a. As you would say, he's a sweetheart of a guy, man. I just really like him. Charlie, what did you find out about Connor Zilich's background, by the way?
Charlie
So this podcast comes out on a Wednesday, so he will have turned 19 on the Tuesday of this week.
Herman Schrader
So we know when his birthday is.
Charlie
A birthday week, he's got to get.
Kenny Schrader
It done then he's aging up.
Charlie
He's from Charlotte. Oh, but let's see. Carding. Started competing in go kart at the age of five.
Kenny Schrader
See?
Charlie
Started primarily in the United States until 2017. This is all Wikipedia. Wikipedia. Went to South Garda, Italy. This is around 2017. So returned to Europe to race in 2018 through 2020. So a lot of European racing. Yes.
Herman Schrader
Dan Weldon's boys. Kenny, you know that who's your hero program. I hung out with Dan Weldon's kids. That seems to be the new thing is they sent. You know, Danica Patrick did that, too. Where tj the father. It seems like one of the courses for drivers is they send their kids over to Europe. You know, I don't really know. It just seems to be a pattern. Have you heard anything about sending kids over to Europe?
Kenny Schrader
No, they. They sent Jeff Gordon to Indiana. You know, I just think you got to be racing. I mean, I think the Europe thing, that's great. First off, that goes to budget. You don't just, well, I got a ride in Europe. Well, no, you didn't just get a ride in Europe. You know, someone spent money so you can go race in Europe, but it just is budget. You just got to be racing. Just got to be racing. And, you know, Jeff's parents moved to Indiana from California because they could put him in a sprint car. 14 years old. And I've heard Jeff say, you know, my parents moved to put me in a sprint car when I was 14. I'm like, you know, he kind of like. I don't know if they really like me that much, you know, because they put him in a sprint car when he was 14. But, I mean, obviously, like I said, I don't know what Connors won before. Jeff had won a lot, but it doesn't make any difference. They threw Connor into the xfinity series, the. The. The very next level below cup, and he's done it, and he's doing it, and I think he'll do it and cup, you know, you know, track house is great team. They. They growing and growing. They haven't won as much as some of the other teams, but they have won, you know, more than just a little bit. And to put him in there with it, be good.
Herman Schrader
You know, Charlie, this is a good subject for you because you've seen it. And, Kenny, you just gave me the idea how many parents have given up their lives for their children. You know, you stop and think about Jeff Gordon and Kenny's exactly right. I mean, I know John Bickford you know, Jeff Gordon's stepfather, Jeff Gordon's real father. You know, nobody's talked about him that much. I have talked to Jeff Gordon about his real father, but John Bickford is the stepfather. And Kenny brings up a good point. You got to see this in ball sports. I mean, we're families. I mean, they just. It's all about the child. And they, and they, they moved from California to Indiana because John Bigfoot told me, you know, that's where we needed to be for Jeff. How much do you see that, Charlie? I do hear about it.
Charlie
Yeah. You always hear about travel, baseball, but I think our buddy Cam Jansen, who I used to do radio with, so he's from St. Louis now. St. Louis is now a big hockey hotbed for young folks, for young players. They had five first round draft picks about whatever it was, five, seven, eight years ago, but it wasn't always like that. And so he's about my age, he's whatever, 40 years old. And he said, growing up, if you're coming up in St. Louis, his parents had to drive him to Michigan, to Canada. I mean, think about that. Your parents are working in St. Louis. You're driving every weekend all across the country to Minnesota, wherever people are playing hockey. So I think you, I think you see that a lot in hockey also.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. And, and I know you can spend a tremendous amount of time lugging your kid around to those other squirts, but at least you're lugging your kid around and his, his gear. You're not lugging five or six people and two race cars. So you got a spare because you're going across country and running this thing.
Herman Schrader
It's.
Kenny Schrader
Is. I know it costs a lot of money, but it's not the same as what it cost.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, yeah, it's, it's a, it's a big deal. And that's just the storyline. You can put it any way you want. You can say, oh, they're spoiled. Oh, I'm not as spoiled as him. Listen, everybody. Not everybody is the same Jeff Gordon story.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, excuse me.
Herman Schrader
No, I love it. Go ahead.
Kenny Schrader
Jeff Gordon story. Were at. I mean, it was so cool. We're teammates at Hendrick, might have been second year. He was there. He's, he's just, he's not wrecking as much now. He's, you know, he's good, he's always good person, but he's, I mean, he's starting to get stuff figured out, which you knew he was going to order. Question, answer, thing. Someone says, all right, Jeff, I watched you in so and so sprint car and you won the races and you're in Bill Davis's Xfinity car and you're winning the races and you're in so and so Silver Crown car and you're winning the races and you're in Hendrick car now and. And, you know, you're running good. And we won some races. Said, how much has it helped you to always be in first class stuff? I'm sitting there, I want to hear this, you know, and it was great. It was great. He said, oh, man. He said, I've been. I've been so fortunate that I got to drive so and so's Riley Hemley's Midget irp, which was the start of, you know, Jeff Gordon and famous. I got to do that, and I got to drive this champ car and I got drive Bill Davis's car, Daytona. I mean, it. Ricks now, you know, with the dupont sponsorship. But he said, the only thing I can tell you. The only thing I can tell you is whether it was Raleigh's car at IRP and the Midget or Silver Crown car, Indianapolis Fairgrounds, Bill Davis's car at Darlington or Rick's car at Daytona. Every time I go down the back straightaway and we get ready to turn into three, he said, I look around, he said, I'm the only one in there, you know, Damn it, give me some credit, man. I'm doing it, you know, And I just. I just thought that was such a good answer because he was the one.
Herman Schrader
Getting it done, making pit stops, going.
Kenny Schrader
Through restarts, getting it done. He's getting it done. Connor's getting it done.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, go ahead, Charlie.
Charlie
Okay, just fun question on this topic, because I was looking it up. So Jeff Gordon, his first race, 1992, Hooters 500. Atlanta. Doesn't get his first cup win, though, until 1994 Coke 600. So the question is because Connor ran his first cup race this year, right? His first cup race was. Was Coda.
Herman Schrader
Coda, yeah.
Charlie
So because we're comparing him to Jeff Gordon, do you think, will Connor Zillich get a cup win by 2027 that would kind of match him with Jeff Gordon a little bit.
Kenny Schrader
Well, that is comparing apples and oranges. It don't make any difference. It's how he runs, you know, I mean, winning.
Herman Schrader
I say, yes, I'm gonna go out on the limb. I'm gonna answer your question. I could say, we'll see, but I'm gonna go, yes, he does, because I remember that Coda race he was in the top 15. He was battling in.
Kenny Schrader
When they pay it for 15th. That's a lot different than first.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
You know, but let's see. First off, pretty sure he's going to track house, but they haven't said it right.
Herman Schrader
No.
Kenny Schrader
So, anyway, let's get him a ride first for sure, which you feel confident that's going to happen. But hey, in 93, because I was at Hendrick 93, we had a rollback to follow Jeff around, you know.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
To bring. But. But you, you. There was spurts of brilliance in between catastrophes. But, you know, 94, he won. But. And then it was like, oh, hell, there's no stopping him now. But it just. He's got a lot of talent. Let's see what happens.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. And I want to say this. I don't think I've ever witnessed close up, because, you know, I'm friends with Jeff like you are, but I don't think I've ever witnessed so much talent in my entire life out of anybody ever. Because, Kenny, you and I can make another hour show out of this where it's like, oh, put Jeff Gordon, you know, later and hit, oh, my God. That the talent this kid's got. I've seen it time after time again. We went to Winchester for a late model race and he got in some car. But I've just watched him where we're like, I can't even get up the speed. And Jeff's like, what? I've just seen too many times this.
Kenny Schrader
You know, Jeff said he didn't have Tony's talent. Tony says he doesn't have Kyle Larson's talent.
Herman Schrader
They're good.
Kenny Schrader
Who's the next one you know?
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Oh, good point. Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
There's always. There's. They're always coming.

Okay everybody, we are done with NASCAR and boy, we got some dirt racing to talk about. So switching subjects, everybody. Kenny Schroeder. Let's start with the King's Royal. But let's go two days before that. Thursday night, Kyle Larson wins $100,000 at Eldora in the high limit race.
Kenny Schrader
Let's go to Tuesday night.
Herman Schrader
Okay.
Kenny Schrader
High limits. I'm sure it was high limits at Attica.
Herman Schrader
Okay.
Kenny Schrader
And, and I'm offer. I'll be offering all the names but four. Four drivers this week. Four drivers we took. I gotta get it right. Four drivers. Four drivers we transported this week to the hospital because in Sprint cars are going so what?
Herman Schrader
So let. Okay, I got it lined up everybody. We're gonna talk about David Gravel. We're going to talk about Eldora. We're going to talk about Brad Sweet. So Amy Long is. I got brain fade.
Kenny Schrader
Your age, it'll start getting right here.
Herman Schrader
What's his name? Casey Kane. Okay. Hey, that was, that was entertainment right there.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Okay. Amy Long is married to Casey Kane and I'm following up.
Kenny Schrader
Wouldn't her last name be Kane then?
Herman Schrader
Yeah, but she's kept her. So she's. She. I'm showing for everybody on Dirty Mo. I'm. I'm showing this to Kenny and Charlie. She's kept her name Amy Long. People do that on social media. So she just hasn't. Her name is Amy Kane. I guess. But talking about what you're talking about. She is married to Casey Kane and I'm just gonna go on to what these, this family was thinking about with transporting all these drivers to the hospital. You can see it starting to ramp up. Amy Long, Casey King's wife says so unnecessary. How many drivers do we need to send into the wall fix the track, then the next one. We've got a massive rut here. That's probably junk. 20 race cars this week that nobody wants to address. So she's. We're talking about Amy Long, everybody married to Casey Kane. And then she says I always speak up when the safety of the people I love is threatened. I watch races with my heart on the track with so many high speed risks. Do not try to control what is a dangerous track condition is negligent. Life, career changing, injuries and team resources, money were wasted. Now, you know, Casey's probably telling her, honey, back the off. You're getting stupid. And then this goes on and on and on. So then Brad Sweet, I mean, it's ugly. Brad Sweet just wrecks violently in turn one and they hit him right in the door and he goes to the hospital. So you've seen this movie. We've been killing people. We've been sending them the hospital. Why this week? What happened?
Kenny Schrader
Eldora had a little character getting into one. I don't know. It wasn't a big. I don't know what it was. It was like a swale or whatever. It just, it got him moving. You know what, when you have a dirt track, you'll have holes in it every time, every now and then. It just happens. Eldora is typically one of our best surfaces. I mean, it's big, fast track. It doesn't take as big of a hiccup in the track surface there to show up because of the speed they carry. But since they started running sprint cars and midgets and all that stuff, they've been taking people to the hospital and they're going to continue to do it no matter how. The first one we had this week wasn't. Wasn't from track at all. It's from one car hit another car because they were racing on the last lap to see who was going to be in the feature or not. It happens.
Herman Schrader
So I pretty much, you know, I, I don't. I listen, you and I are as close as we can get. And I, I remember everything you say because I admire you. I feel like you've always limited your liability, even though you're a little bit of a daredevil because I'll watch you getting those champ cars and I'm like, what the hell is Schrader doing? But you never did go this route and you just said a little bit ago. And I do like what you said. You said, well, and you were joking. You said, you know, Carol and John Bickford must have not loved Jeff Gordon that much because it took him sprint car racing. So is spring. Ra. I think sprint car racing. I'm going to go first. I think sprint car racing is exciting and I love them. I love those guys. But I think it's the most dangerous car in the world. What do you think?
Kenny Schrader
The world.
Herman Schrader
What do you rank as the most? I mean, what do you.
Kenny Schrader
Shark track racing. It's. It's right up there. You know, wing or no wings. It's. It's right up there. They are so much safer than they used to be. So much safer. And they continue to get safer. But back to anything. When they make you put on fireproof clothing, they make you put on fireproof flowing to strap you securely in a steel cage. Yeah. You know, a steel cage. And put you in the seat that you can't move. And then tether your head to your shoulders. You gotta think that. You mean you gotta think there's a chance something's going to happen or they wouldn't do all this stuff.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Okay, so let me go on this same subject here. So I do have to remember that Casey Kane's wife, they own Brad Sweet's car. And I forgot about that. So.
Kenny Schrader
KT busted his butt this week too. I didn't realize he didn't transport him, but he. He had. He had. He busted his butt.
Herman Schrader
Okay, so Brad Sweet says scans came back clean, sore and beat up. But I've been to charge discharge. So I did text Brad because, you know, kind of like you. There's. There's those people that you feel like they reach out to you. And I've had Brad on Kenny conversation. But, you know, I'm sure everybody texted Brad and I. Sometimes I kind of feel bad, but I'm. I said, brad, I'm thinking of you. I'm happy you're okay. And I got back a simple thank you. So. So yeah, it was. It was a very dangerous week for sprint car racing. They transported like Kenny said, four.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. And I don't know everybody t. Now Tyler got an operation. Got a steel rod.
Herman Schrader
Oh, my God. Listen, that is my sponsor. That is Jennifer and Richard Marshall. And Jennifer and Richard, they have been texting me, letting me know what's up. They got some drivers are going to fill in for Sunshine. Tyler Courtney, that's his nickname, Sunshine. This poor guy, now he's going to have rods in his body the rest of his life.
Kenny Schrader
So does that make you stronger?
Herman Schrader
God. Oh, man. I tell you, everybody I know then they start putting those rods in. The next thing is, you know, pills from pain management and just all my respect and love to sunshine. Love you, buddy. Praying for you. I know you laid up in a hospital and that. That was a big one. Kenny. What else about that?
Kenny Schrader
No, it's. That's just. It happens now. Track had a little character. You know, the fastest way was through the hole or the swale or whatever it was, but the fastest way, you know, was. Was through it. So that's what you do. You run through it.
Herman Schrader
So let let's first of all, let me let everybody know that the winner of the King's Royal, Anthony Macri. Okay, would we have two or three races at Eldora? We had the high limit race, which was more races.
Kenny Schrader
High limits was Wednesday, Thursday. World Outlaws was Friday, Saturday. I'm sure that's right.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, yeah.
Kenny Schrader
100,000 Thursday, 200,000 Saturday.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. So now we're here. Now here, here's where we're going to go with this. I'm choosing this. I'm going to pit them against each other for fun. Now, everybody, we're having fun. Charlie, make sure when, if you do this, we're having fun. So now we've got the High limit series versus the World of Outlaws. And here's why. Here's why. Because on the last lap of the night before the King's Royal, Kyle Larson. Now, Johnny Gibson calls it this. We're coming to the checkered. Kyle Larson throws what Johnny Gibson calls a dirty slider. And boy, it was close on David Gravel. So when the checkered flag comes out, David Gravel spins Kyle Larson out. They slow up. Gravel ends up getting Kyle Larson spun out. Now Kyle Larson gets on X and has the picture there where David Gravel and Kyle Larson are spun out. They're both looking at each other in their race cars. Kyle Larson says, here's David Gravel and myself figuring out David Gravel's contract for next year for 2027.
Kenny Schrader
2027?
Herman Schrader
Yeah, we're figuring David Gravel's 2027 contract out to come out where the real competition is. High limit racing. We had ASA versus all pro back in the day at Nashville. We had the north versus the south years ago. Kenny, is this good for sprint car racing?
Kenny Schrader
I'm old. I don't like it.
Herman Schrader
Okay.
Kenny Schrader
But. But they, you know, they ever obviously have their reasons for another series, and I'm not. I'm not gonna, you know, that. That's their deal. They can do whatever they want. There was. There was no serious stuff at Eldora. Everybody was there. It just had all the best race car drivers all four nights. So. Yeah, well, that. Yeah, because everybody's there because I think the outlaw guys get like four nights that they can run other stuff and everybody saves two of them for Eldora because you know you're going to be there for four nights. So whatever that. That's going. That goes back to. That's the same category as the 2311 lawsuit.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
You know, World Outlaw, late miles and Lucas Oil 8 miles. Two different series that run two different schedules, and both do good the world out the Lucas Oil late miles while they were racing for 200 to win at Eldora. The sprint cars, the late miles, were at Hussein for three nights, and they ran for 75, 000 to win Saturday night where little Hudson O' Neal won. So, I mean, that was. That was big. And they were all there.
Herman Schrader
I'm gonna give my opinion on this after further review. And after two years of this going on, I'm gonna. Kenny Schrader's taught me a little bit about money, and he's taught me how to add. Instead of two nights of World of Outlaw racing and a total of whatever, it's four nights of a lot more money to make for these guys. And it turns out, like I said, after two years, if they can keep this up. Years ago, we had ASA and all pro, and Kenny just pointed out that we got World of Outlaws and Lucas Oil. It seems to be good. It gives these drivers another chance to make more money. And if you would have told me Sprint car drivers could park at Eldor for four days for all that money, so far, so good. Now, it could. It could all end tomorrow, but that's my opinion. And Kenny, thanks for the. The reminder about world of outlaw late models and Lucas because you bring up some good points. Maybe you didn't even mean to, but you just gave it examples of where maybe sometimes two divisions is okay. And it seems to me like it's turning out just fine.
Kenny Schrader
It hasn't. I mean, everybody's doing. Stuff is doing fine still. So we'll just have to see.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Okay. Dirt racing. I know we're. We're a little over an hour here. Everybody. But this has got to be talked about. And I know you had to see it. Bob Gardner and Darren Klein at Farmer City. Sometimes drivers lose their brain. We know years ago, Jack Ingram turned around on the right racetrack at what they call somewhere there in Winston, not Winston, some Hickory or Asheville or someplace Asheville. The last time we heard some. I mean, we see it and see it. Bob Gardner got mad at Darren Klein for throwing a slider. And Bob Gardner turned around on the racetrack and was coming head onto the field. Wow.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. He turned around when the field was going into three, which they got the yellow and cars. There was nothing. He pulled out on the racetrack when they were still green going the wrong way, but they threw the yellow instantly. And there was no head arms. He waited to turn the guy over that he was mad at.
Herman Schrader
So these. These dirt cars have idiosyncrasies like everything in life. The word idiosyncrasy means you can do something quirky. And so you know Bob, you know, a lot of people are saying he, he meant to flatten his left, retire, but with those noses, they're like shovels.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, he knew what he was doing.
Herman Schrader
So, so here's my deal. I'm sure Bob is a lover and I'm sure he's a good man, but he lost his brain that day. He turns around on the racetrack, they're still green. Why they're still green is another conversation. But they're still green. And it's like, holy crap. And so we go to Peebley the next night because this is what we call the Mars series. So the series finishes at Farmer City. The next night it's at Peevley. The series director, not Matt Curl, but Matt Curl. He's got a guy running and that guy said, guys, we're gonna address what happened. He said that should never happen again. Bob Gardner has been here from day one. We're going to get through these next two nights, which was Peevely and we got rained out of Quincy yesterday. And we're going to come out with a statement, but that should never happen again in our sport. And so Mars says they're going to come out with something here. I'm sure by the time this airs on Wednesday, Mars is going to give their official ruling. But Bob Gardner was not at Pevely. Kenny, what did you think of Darren Klein's slider?
Kenny Schrader
I just saw it once. You know what, you can get slid, it could hit you in the front tire, it can knock your door off, it can knock in the wall. You don't go turn someone over, you don't go around racetrack. I'm, I don't agree with the decisions made by a lot of sanctioning bodies. I've done it a long time. Someone does something like that, you just look at your calendar, said, okay, it's July 18th, you're welcome to come see us again wherever we are, July 18th of next year.
Herman Schrader
There you go.
Kenny Schrader
That's, it's just real simple. I would net. It's no two week deal, it's no $500. It's just get your ass out of here for a year. We don't care what you're doing, but you're not going to any UMP sanction event, which that was a Mars race, which is under the UMP sanction, which is under the dirt car, whatever. But you're not, you're, you're not going to play with us. But they need to do it.
Herman Schrader
I said that and I went deep on this. Of course, I do things like that. I'm like, okay, there's something more wrong in his life that just don't come up one night. And I've had people trying to tell me, well, you know, maybe he borrowed money for his race team. I'm like, yeah, it don't make any difference.
Kenny Schrader
It don't make any difference.
Herman Schrader
Something happened in that man's life. I mean, that was bat crazy.
Kenny Schrader
It happens every year. It's not like it's one unbelievable incident that happened. It happens all the time. It's just down south. You don't always, you don't always successfully get, get them turned over on the first attempt.
Herman Schrader
Well, I've given my disclaimer. I'm like, I'm sure Bob's a good guy, but it's, it's very apparent he needs to take some time off and relax because that is, man, what happens if that car catches on fire and Darren Klein would have burned up. And, I mean, you turn cars over, you know, I understand you climbed in.
Kenny Schrader
He climbed in with fire suit on because he knew there was a chance something was going to happen. Everybody forgets about that. Everybody forgets about that.
Herman Schrader
Dick trickle said it's 50% your fault.
Kenny Schrader
Yes.
Herman Schrader
Because you decided to come on the racetrack.
Kenny Schrader
This one might be more than 50% his fault because we got to go back to what made Bob so mad.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Yeah. Well, I've been, I've been given sliders my whole life and I'm like, I better not stay here. I, I guess I'm a, I'm a wimp. Because when I see it coming and it's not going to clear, I let off and I try to roll under them.
Kenny Schrader
That's not a wimp. That's self preservation. That's common sense.
Herman Schrader
It was a great compliment to me. Thank you. Yeah. Okay. That was a very ugly. One of the ugly scenes we've seen in dirt racing in a long time and we've addressed it. Okay, Charlie, jokes.
Charlie
All right, here we go. First, before the jokes, gotta always tell people about the merch line. You got the hats, the shirts, the hoodies. It is shop.dirtymomedia.com all right, we got to get some more jokes from the viewers and listeners also. But these three I got off the Internet. So here we go. I got three. Here's the first one my wife called out to me from the other room. Do you ever get a shooting pain across your chest, like someone's got A voodoo doll of you and they're stabbing it. I said no. She said, how about now?
Kenny Schrader
This thing's not working pretty good.
Charlie
Okay, joke number two. A 60 year old millionaire got married to a 20 year old model. When his friends asked him how he did it, he said, I lied about my age. They then asked, ah, so you said you were 40? He answered, no, I said I was 90.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Charlie
So he can die and she can get the cash.
Kenny Schrader
All right, last year's.
Charlie
Here's the last one. Did you know that William Shatner once tried to start up his own lingerie company for women? Unfortunately, Shatner panties turned out to be a terrible choice for a brand name. Shatner panties.
Herman Schrader
She in her panties.
Charlie
There you go. Three jokes.
Herman Schrader
That's good stuff.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, what are we missing?
Herman Schrader
Where are you racing this weekend?
Kenny Schrader
Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Friday night I'm going up to watch the Silver Crown cars at Indianapolis. Wednesday night at irp. Oh, you know, because it's indie week, it's old. And then Thursday I'm not racing, I'm gonna go somewhere and watch. Working my way because I'm being the motorhome, working my way towards Cedar Rapids. And then Friday and Saturday we got two weekends in a row we know where we're going. All the other stuff we got two weekends row we don't know where we're going. So Friday and Saturday Joey and I are going someplace to race.
Herman Schrader
I love that, I love that. And what I love most is you're, you're, you're the epitome of true racer.
Kenny Schrader
Because when you're not clue what I'm doing.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, but you're like, it's, it's indie week. We're going to Indy somewhere. I love that.
Kenny Schrader
We'll go up there Wednesday and watch. And I'm getting a buddy of mine, I'm taking a car to a buddy of mine and picking up a couple of things and it's just as an excuse to go get in the motorhome.
Herman Schrader
And go, I love those Kenny Schrader ideas. I love them. Okay, Friday I'm racing somewhere, either Granite or Brownstown. Those two are back head to head schedules, which is is different. But Saturday I'll be at Peavely Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park. That will be my weekend. And then Monday guys, when we come back for Herman Schrader, Monday next week. Kenny, you're gonna love this. Kim and I are getting on the Trike Monday the 28th and we're going to Wisconsin Dells to see her family. And then this is Kit, this is all Kim. She says, here's what we're doing, and then we're coming back Thursday. Because she knows better not take. Yeah, she better not take my racing from me. These, you're racing summers go quick.
Kenny Schrader
You're racing for a living. You got a race Friday. I mean, I'm very. I, I'm. I was so glad you bought that trike. And this was last week. It was after Monday, after our last show last week, that the Kyle Petty charity ride dates got announced. All the stops didn't get announced yet, but the dates, which will be May 1st leaving Sonoma Raceway and May 9th winding up at Charlotte Speedway.
Herman Schrader
How awesome is that going to be, Charlie? We get to stage at the Sonoma racetrack.
Kenny Schrader
We gotta, you gotta be there with your bike to stage.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Even with.
Herman Schrader
You're crazy, though.
Kenny Schrader
Even.
Herman Schrader
You're gonna drive out there.
Kenny Schrader
No, you're. You're gonna, you're going out with me. You're riding your bike out there.
Herman Schrader
Okay.
Kenny Schrader
You're riding your bike out and you're riding your bike back in.
Herman Schrader
Wait till I tell Kim.
Kim
Kim.
Kenny Schrader
Well, she don't have to go. She don't have to go. Well, she don't have to go. On the way out. Yeah, you know, fly out there, bring it back.
Herman Schrader
I know her like a book. She's like, no, I'm going with you. But we'll see. We'll see what she's up to. But, you know, it dawned on me that how brilliant for Morgan Petty and Cal Petty because Marcus Smith is a good friend of theirs. So to start out at and end at two SMI tracks, you know, Marcus is going to be laying out the red carpet for the Cal Petty.
Kenny Schrader
How much fun will it be just to ride the bikes around Sonoma too? Which I'm sure we'll get involved in somehow. But this is 30th anniversary of the ride. So that's when they decide to do the. They did the coast to coast thing again because what they've been doing really been neat. But I think from everything I hear, like every five years they do the coast to coast, which Charlotte isn't the coast, but it's damn close. When you start at Sonoma, it's close enough to the coast.
