Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Apply Herman Schrader on the Dirty Mo media platform from the middle of America in St. Louis, Missouri starts right now, the following is a production of Dirty Mo Media. I'm looking at Kenny Schrader right now.
Kenny Schrader
Is a drinker in the show. I mean, yeah, he does.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
How in the world did we agree to do a podcast?
Kenny Schrader
I like spending time with you.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
That makes me happy.
Kenny Schrader
Well, it's all about making you happy. We're always honest. We don't know that we're not in trouble, and sometimes truthful. What makes you think you're not a little different?
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
You're weird. Herman Schrader.
Kenny Schrader
Hey, I know that, you know, they can only. People can only watch this if they go on your deal, but this is very much like a Michigan restart. Our show today,
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
it's been a horrible wreck, everybody. This is literally 1, 2. This is like our third or fourth take. So, Kenny, Kenny, you said earlier that, hey, we're both in St. Louis. When was the last time that you and I were here at home?
Kenny Schrader
Well, I don't know. It's probably been a while. But I'm leaving in the morning, so I'm home today. But we'll be back. It's good to be home. Just ready to leave when you get there for a while.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yeah. What's that about? You know, I always. I always quote the great Dick Trickle, my boy. Do you know why we leave? No. So we can go back home. I like that. It took me a while to think about it. It's like, we leave, so we like our home. I want to go back home. I don't think Kenny likes his house.
Kenny Schrader
I love my house. I love my house. I just. It's just I love being other places, racing and seeing other people, too.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Hey, I'm going to brag on you on our fourth try here at the show today, and I think this is going to make the show better. You had the great Indianapolis 500 winner Johnny Rutherford stop by your house.
Kenny Schrader
That was big. Last Monday night after show, Johnny Rutherford and Bart Stevens, friend of his, on their way home from Minneapolis, going back down to Dallas area, and they stopped and spent the night. Oh, my gosh. You talk about some neat stories. Johnny sold a bunch of stuff at a big auction this last weekend. Yeah, I think one of his Indianapolis baby Boards, they call it. It's a baby board, Warner. It's maybe 18 inches tall or so. It's like half a trophy on a plaque.
Jerome Davis
Wow.
Kenny Schrader
I think it sold for, like 175,000. One of his helmets sold for 150,000. I can't get anybody to take mine. What did we do wrong, Herman?
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
We're still racing. We got, we our stuff will be more valuable if we yell uncle.
Kenny Schrader
Oh yeah. Instead of, you're saying Instead of getting $5, I can hold out and get 10.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
If you ever said my career is over, believe me, your stuff will go through the roof. It's a sad world out there, Kenny, when, when we admit defeat, that's when they love us. But as long as we're in the game, you know, well, I'm going to
Kenny Schrader
do one thing, I'm going to do one thing here. That's usually your area. But when you said it's a sad world. We lost that hero this week. Oh, wow.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Thank you.
Kenny Schrader
Ned Jarrett.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yeah. Ned was 93 years old. Kenny, let me, well, you go first. Tell, tell your quick Ned Jarrett story.
Kenny Schrader
I, I just always like Ned. Ned was one of the, you know, when I came around, he was one of the good stable guys that, you know, had been there and been there for a long time and I remember hearing, I know Dietz will know more about this but he, he, and early in his career he went to the Dale Carnegie deal to help improve his public speaking. You know about that, Alan?
Kenny Dietz
Yeah, he, as I've heard him tell the story, it was, you know, as much for his post race career as it was his racing career. But you know, at that time he was, you know, Ford was sending him places to speak and, and it was needed. But you know, the thing about Ned is, is a lot of people, if you compare him and Benny Parsons to Pat Summerall and John Madden, a lot of people didn't know that Pat Summerall was a football player too, but he was the, he was the lead guy and then, you know, John Madden had all the color and it was kind of the same way with, with Ned. You know, Benny was, was just personality and everything, but the insight that the two of those guys could give and I can't remember who it was somebody told a story about Ned and that he said, you know, put me down in the pits for some of these televised races to start with on cbs because I can, you know, tell you more about what's going on down there than some pit reporter that, you know, had never driven before and then had some great pit calls and stuff. But he's just super guy and, and I think added so much to, to give people the perspective of nascar, you know, from, from a driver's view, but did it in an intelligent way.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
I just, I'll be the last one here. He, he gave me confidence. Kenny Schrader and myself, we both come out of St. Louis. Kind of finding our way into the NASCAR world. And of course I can talk, but I wasn't, you know, hard to put it all together and give speeches in front of major corporations. And I went downtown Charlotte one night, didn't really know what I was getting into and talked. And when I got done, Ned said, you know, just made me feel better, gave me confidence. So that's my Ned Jared story. And is it right, guys? His nickname was always Gentleman Ned Jarrett.
Kenny Schrader
Right? Yeah, yeah.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
And he was.
Kenny Schrader
I saw that one race he won at Darlington the other day. I saw a clip by 11 laps or something.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yeah, that's when NASCAR was good. Well, that took a quick U turn. That's for later in the show. Okay, everybody. We lose ned Jarrett at 93 years old. We could only hope to live that long. What a wonderful life. And our, our prayers. My prayers. I know everybody else to the Glenn, Dale and the whole family, so. Great job, Kenny. You led us that way. All right, are we ready to go to Michigan?
Kenny Schrader
Let's go.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
All right. Kenny Dietz. Danny Hamlin wins his 63rd NASCAR cup race. Two in a row and third on the year. And I joke, I think he's got about three second place finishes. So he's won three, but easily could go five or six. It feels like Kenny, he's on a roll.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, it's all because of that trial back in the winter. You know, there's
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
NASCAR letting him win.
Kenny Schrader
No telling what the hell NASCAR gave them, you know. No. You know, he was one yellow flag away from being our defending champion. Denny Hamlin has been one of the guys for how many years now? The Toyotas are. They have something a little extra this year. I don't necessarily believe that it's necessarily just Toyotas that have it, but the Gibbs 2311 relationship, they're on top of their program. We've seen the same thing with Chevrolet teams before. We've seen it with Fords. You know, it's just, it, it goes in cycles and it's just one team finds a little something and we're talking minute the way these cars are now. And it, it doesn't have to be anything that's illegal or anything. It's just they find a little combination now the other teams will catch up with it. And then everybody keeps looking to find something else. But right now they are on top of their deal. The Toyotas are. And Denny is just proving again why he's one of our best inner sport.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
And I'll go back to last week's show we said this Chase Elliott trying to calm the NASCAR fan base down. They asked Chase Elliott, hey, what about these Toyotas? And Chase said, hey, look, we're not as far away as you think. It's just that close. So let's stay on this route. Well, Kenny, you know what, let's go back on the first or second take today. Why don't I let you bring us to the green flag with your buddy Carson Osavar?
Kenny Schrader
Well, this was a beach like that. I didn't get to, I didn't get to see the whole race, but I was watching. Was it lap 80 something or, you know, we hadn't quite made halfway yet and Carson was maybe restarting third or fourth row inside. I think maybe he was third row inside under restart. Whether they checked up a little bit. It wasn't an obvious deal, but it doesn't have to take much. But he had more mile an hour than the car in front of him, which I think was John Hunter. And whether he was pulling out a line or just decided to jerk to the left. Because I did watch an interview with him where he said something about taking evasive action, but he didn't know if he was going to go try to go three wide or not. But anyway, he was going faster than the car in front of him, hit him good enough to turn him to the right and then all hell broke loose behind him.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dates, I'm going to throw this to you because I think it's kind of your arena. Kenny schrader, myself, Dale Jr. And myself, we, we all three of us, you know, Dale Jr, Kenny, myself. I'd say Kenny Schrader because we can get the. Kenny's mixed up. You know, Dale Jr. On the post race show and every time he can, Dale Jr. Is defending Carson Osbar. He's saying, look, as a fan, I love seeing Carson Osvar wreck all these people. I, I don't think he means to. Now, if I was a driver, I wouldn't like it. But Dale Jr. In my opinion is really helping the fan base stay in love with Josevar Because Dale Jr. Is telling everybody, look, this is good. We need Carson to keep wrecking everybody as part of the show. So, you know, me and Kenny were racers. It's not fair to ask us that question. You're a fan. You said you never drove a race car. What do you think of Dale Jr. Liking Carson accidentally wrecking everybody all the time?
Kenny Dietz
Accidentally wrecking people all the time. I think that's part of the problem. You know, this past week, Sunday that legitimately was an accident. Now, could there have been an accident going into turn one, whenever he put them three or four wide going in there? Maybe. But this, this literally was an accident. And I think what Dale Jr saying is, is all fine and good, but everybody needs to be okay whenever somebody else doesn't. Don't cut him a break because it's coming. Austin Dillon said it. Bubba Wallace said it at Nashville. He talked to him again yesterday. And I think what Bubble was doing was. Was legitimately trying to help him, but it's. He's going to run into the wrong guy. And when he does, he ain't going to finish the race. And that's all part of learning, I think.
Kenny Schrader
Can you. Will you look up the definition of accident again? Because I did that. I'm really serious. Look up definition of it again because I did that once and it was pretty interesting how it read. Yeah. The other thing we learned real quick, you know, and then like just in the world, and especially driving a car, not a race car, but just a car, you are responsible for the front of your car. Eat that one.
Kenny Dietz
So here, here's the definition. An unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury, or an event that happens by chance or that is without apparent or deliberate cause.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
You know what?
Kenny Dietz
I think that honestly could go along with what. What? I don't know. That we've seen Carson deliberately go out and wreck somebody.
Kenny Schrader
I don't.
Kenny Dietz
He's having a.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
What?
Kenny Schrader
I agree with you 100%. I don't think we're seeing him go out and deliberately wreck anything. He's just having a lot of unfortunate incidents.
Kenny Dietz
Well, let me ask you something. When somebody has enough unfortunate incidents,
Kenny Schrader
do
Kenny Dietz
you accidentally run into them the next week whenever they're putting you into a bad spot? Accidentally?
Kenny Schrader
I've had it happen before. Yes. And just. I had an unfortunate incident and I ran into him.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Okay. Let's put this to bed. And I'm going to put a period on it. Dale Jr. Says he loves it, so it's all good. And I love Junior.
Kenny Dietz
He knows it more to fans. More the fans are on Carson's side than on mine. I told you. Oh, yeah. When I went to Darlington, it. It shocked me. And you saw how the fans reacted to him at Talladega. Yesterday's a home state race. But I've heard Denny Hamlin booed at Martinsville in Richmond way more than he was cheered. So, I mean, the fans are liking what he's doing. I don't think the drivers are. And like I said, I think sooner than later you're going to see his car wadded up instead of somebody else's accidentally.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Well, in ending Dale Jr. Is helping him.
Kenny Schrader
It's a. It's a really tough business, I'm telling you.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Okay, in. In chronological order, guys, remember, this is our fourth take of the show. So you know where I'm going. We're doing.
Kenny Dietz
We're doing really good saying a lot of the stuff we did earlier. I tell you one thing. Listen, you boys are older than me, but y' all got good memories. I can tell you that. Cause some of this stuff is verbatim.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Here's the situation everybody is, you know, in the past. Oh, let these NASCAR motors run wide open. Take the restrictor plates off, drop the flag is what Dale sooner used to say. So Denny Hamlin sets quick time, Kenny. And he's going into turn three at 213mph in a passenger car. They call it a NASCAR car. My lord. I mean, you've made a lot of laughs around her speed to 213mph. And why would we need to go faster, you know.
Kenny Schrader
You know, at one point they were a little faster getting in turn. But these cars, when you watch a qualifying lap or just watch the race, you'll see when that car yaws out like that. But these car, these cars are like this and wiggling all the time. They are not stuck to the ground. There may be a little better than they were one time they got more tires on them and stuff. But these guys are running harder. They're running closer together with the horsepower that they have now that they gave them some extra horsepower this year. I think it's good for our races. We've had some. We've had some phenomenal races. We have to. You have to tell me about your Mr. Block approval rating, because it should be good for Sunday. I mean, it sure looked good to me. So I don't think. I don't think we need to go any fat. We don't need to go any faster.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Okay. I like what you said, Kenny. Now, that leads me up to this situation. 213 mile an hour going into turn three. And I like what you said because they are driving. They're not stuck like we thought they were three years ago. Okay, let's say three years ago they were stuck. As the race gets going
Kenny Dietz
well, again, since we're being straight up with everybody and this is about the fourth time we've done this, I can actually tell you how much it's changed since we recorded about four hours ago. So four hours ago, there were roughly 2,970 votes. Now there are 4,370 votes. So about 1400 more votes than there were earlier today. And the poll is exactly the same. 83% thought it was a good race. 17% fault, none.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Well, you know, two weeks in a row, Kenny.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. And I. I love it. And I don't know. I don't know. It'd be interesting. It never happened, but be interesting to see what the 17 didn't like about it, you know, because obviously 83%. That's. That's good. That's real good. So. And we've. We've seen a lot of races. Like this year, we saw. I know that. Talk to Ron Dreger from arca. They had their biggest Friday crowd in years. Years. Now, she put 10,000 people in those grandstands. It doesn't look like any people, but it's still. It was their biggest number in years. I didn't see the Friday race. Sunday. All right. We've taken grandstands out. We've done this, we've done that. But that grandstands looked great. So we got some people we're not going to make happy. But it looks like NASCAR is doing a lot of things to make more people happy than not.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
There's only 60 to 70,000 people there. Yeah. I couldn't add anything else to what you're saying. I love it. Okay. Over 80% of the people love the race. Denny Hamlin's running 213 mile an hour. Cars are wiggling. And to prove that, let's go to one of the most pivotal points of the race. And we don't know the results yet,
Kenny Dietz
but
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Christopher Bell Just simply goes into turn three on the outside of Chase Elliott. And, and Christopher is not doing Chase Elliott bad. He's, you know, he's outside but not down on his spoiler. Christopher Bell is not on purpose taking the air off a Chase's spoiler. But they're racing, so Chase wiggles and when Chase wiggles, he runs right into the door of Christopher Bell. Now Christopher wrecks hard. I mean it's bad. When the race is over, Kenny, Coach Joe Gibbs says, look, they've released him. But Coach Gibbs says, I'm worried about his ankles and his wrist hit, hitting the wall right there. As we watched earlier years ago, that, that's a, that's a tough wall to hit. Thank God we have safer bearers. But I don't know when we're going to hear about Christopher.
Kenny Schrader
Well, that's one of the things that it goes back to that 213 mile an hour. Now they weren't running 213 mile an hour right there. But you're still hauling ass. That's why you're going that fast. Getting intern. I mean our sport is so much safer, you know, with the improvements that they made. But it's, it's not a no brainer. You climb in this thing and don't get hurt yet.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
My gosh, I think about it, there was no safer barrier. If there was. These seats are so much better. The Hans devices, the leg boards. We've come a long way, baby. And knock on wood, we just, they
Kenny Schrader
came, they gave ERNIE Like a 5 or 10% chance that morning when he got to the hospital.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Turn one and two at Michigan. Turn one and two at Michigan.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
And Kenny, as you're making me think, we lost Clifford Allison in turn three and four at Michigan. Right, Right where Chris Rebelle hit Rick Baldwin. Fast track.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Rick Baldwin also got hurt, head injury in Buddy Arrington's car. Lived for quite a while. He was not good.
Kenny Dietz
He stayed in a coma for I think four years.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
You know, Kenny, I like to serve this up to you because you've got more laps around Michigan than me, although I've ran there. Why is that track, you know, it's like for years we always talk about Atlanta, Charlotte, but what's. Why is it, why did we never. Now everybody's talking about it. Why is Michigan so fast?
Kenny Schrader
Well, it's just got big old wide, wide sweeping turns. You know, you don't. You. Even though it's only, I think got an 18 degree bank, I think. But you just, it's such a sweep and Turn that you. You get down in there. You carry so much speed. It's not like you got to go down there and slow down a ton. You got to slow down, but not like you slow down a ton of mile an hour like some of the other places. I got more laughs around there than you. But I also got $100 bill signed by you.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Oh, my God, what a story.
Kenny Schrader
We don't have to tell.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
No, because we sold it. But. But it's good. I look, we're gonna take a shortcut. We bet. He bet me that lap 20 he would pass me. And I said, no way. And coming off of turn four at Michigan, running 180 mile an hour, I'm like, oh, my God. And Kenny's passing me, and he's got enough control that he puts his left hand up out of the window net and he. And he rubs his fingers together like, you owe me. So that's. That's not the end of the story. I'm like that son of a. The next morning, you know, I'm the type of guy back in those days. I'm asleep till 9 easy. 7:30 in the morning. I'm sound asleep in my bed in Concord, North Carolina, and I feel this tickle on my nose. I open my eyeballs Schrader stare, but he's six inches off my face. He goes, where's my hundred dollars? I'm wearing my tighty whities. I jump out of my bed and I had a little money and. So where's that $100 wheel at, Kenny?
Kenny Schrader
It's in my. It's in my daddy's old desk up. Up at the house.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Oh, my God. Yeah. So that's Michigan, everybody. I think right now Michigan's getting its due. We're talking about how fast it is
Kenny Schrader
now, and it's fast. Wait, let me throw one. Okay, wait, let me. I don't mean to interrupt you. No, we're talking about Danny. Yep. Two big things we left out. He was the fastest qualifier. And then. Oh, yeah, you said they wanted to make just a little, little change. It might not be worth it, but they started last.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yeah, let me tell that story. So after the race, they're interviewing him on prime and, you know, Steve Latar, Dale Jr. They're like, you know, tell us about starting last. He goes, well, what we did was nothing illegal, but we felt like we were giving up a competitive advantage. And we thought it was more important to adjust this car to make it better where everybody knows the rules. When qualifying is over, that's it you're not allowed to do much. And they made an unapproved adjustment that they thought they couldn't let go. So they chose to start in the back to make the car better. Thanks for reminding me of that, Kenny. That's nuts. That's nuts. But, but you're right. I mean I, they're telling me, you know, I talked to some of those guys like Tommy Baldwin and it's insane. They're using 30 second like a little thicker than your fingernail packer adjustments because the whole car is riding on hardcore bump stops like, like bam. You know you, I think you remember seeing at Charlotte they were talking about going in turn three. Their heads are becoming tuning forks because they're riding so hard on the car and yeah. So good reminder. Okay, I think that's it for the race. We, you know, we talked about the highlights. Denny wins his 63rd race. Let me add this in there. And then I'm going to go to Richard Childress. They Matt, Matt Weaver talks to Denny and says, Danny, you're telling us all you're done. Next year's your last year. So Matt Weaver says danny, if you're running like this next year are you going to retire? And Denny responds, it will be hard to retire. So Dietz, you're the neutral guy as a fan means Raider already know we're going to keep racing. Well what should. And just speak to Denny's age and still winning.
Kenny Dietz
I think he would have a hard time retiring right now. But you know he, I think it was on prime yesterday after race he mentioned Brent Cruz and that kind of caught some folks off guard. I think the problem he's going to have is and I remember in 2003 with Bill Elliott, he should have won the last two races. He wanted Rockingham and then had a flat tire on the last layup after he led 188 laps at Homestead. And I talked to Abraham because I really honestly think Bill the way they were running and wait, Casey King ran in 2004 that Bill would have, he'd have been a threat for that championship that year. And I asked Ray, I said was, you know, did you guys kind of rethink it, you know, getting around September, October, November. And he said, you know, Bill wasn't sure if he wanted to retire or not, but he was errand on the side that he, that 2003 was going to be his last full time year. So they started talking to Casey Kane and the rest is history. Well, it didn't matter what Bill wanted to do in November, because that ball had been rolling since the summer, and Dodge and Abraham and everybody else had pretty much moved on because they had to. And I think that's the situation that Vinny is going to be faced with sooner than later. Gibbs is going to have to lay it out to him and just be like, we got to know what you do, and because we got to go one way or the other here.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Okay, Kenny, let me serve this up to you. You and I have talked. We don't know Brent Cruz very well, but the young kids do. Nick Hoffman told me, oh, man, this kid's incredible. So here Joe Gibbs is. And they. And this is what's funny. It really does shock everybody on the TV set on prime after the race, they're talking to Denny about this. It's Denny that answers Steve retard. And Dale Jr goes, yeah, we've already got Britt Cruz lined up to take my place. So, Kenny, I mean, is. I mean, I'm sure Denny can. I don't know, can Denny call his shot or is Joe Gibbs go, hey, we got a. We got to move on.
Kenny Schrader
Well, being Joe owns the team, I'm sure it be Joe's final decision, but, like. Like, Jeff Gordon was at Hendrick and stuff, you know, Denny's been there forever, since he started his career, and a very successful career. Unbelievable successful. So I'm sure he would be, you know, have a lot of input as far as suggestions and stuff. I don't. I don't know that much about Cruise, but I know if Denny's saying he's our guy, well, I don't need to hold. No. A whole lot more that that says all I need to know. And that. That victory the other day is 63rd.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Tied Kyle Busch.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yeah. Very heartfelt. Oh, what a segue. Okay, let's leave the race, guys. I think we covered it. Of course, we could go on in every little detail, but I think we got the highlights. Dirty Mo Media has a new show coming out, this Cowboy Life.
Kenny Schrader
It's featuring Tiffany and Jerome Davis.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
They are the PBR's royal couple, and you won't want to miss it. Here's a trailer. Bring the energy.
Tiffany Davis
Wake up.
Kenny Schrader
I can tell that through all these stories, through all your, you know, your world championship. I know that in your head you've always said, I'm gonna be a podcaster one day.
Jerome Davis
You know, I hope that at the end of the day that it'll bring somebody that hasn't really been around this life that we live. And it brings them to a Whole new world. And somebody will say, dang, maybe them cowboys ain't so bad after all.
Tiffany Davis
I think if you can bring some smiles. I love to hear Jerome's stories and just how he carries himself. So I'm all about if people can get a grin out of it, if they can smile a little bit.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
What's it going to be like, Jerome,
Jerome Davis
to have Tiffany as a co host to a podcast? Whoa, man.
Tiffany Davis
See this gift of gab I have? Maybe it'll come in a little handy on this deal.
Jerome Davis
If I keep Tiffany quiet every now and then so she'll let me talk, we'll be in good shape.
Tiffany Davis
The only bad thing is I'm going to have to hear your stories that I've heard a hundred million times. I'm going to have to hear them another time.
Jerome Davis
And they just get better every time.
Tiffany Davis
Yeah, they do get a little more added into them every time.
Jerome Davis
I don't know why she puts up
Kenny Schrader
with me and why she helps living
Jerome Davis
this life that we go through, but she does, and she's. She's awesome.
Kenny Schrader
It's March 14, 1998, from when they open the gate to when you get hit.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
What do you remember from that?
Jerome Davis
The bull I had that night was knock him out John. And I'd been on him before, and he had hit me in the face in Vegas one time, so I knew that I had to really stay over the front and try not to let him hit me in the face. As it worked that night, he got me rocked back and hit me in the face and knocked me out. When he did, I dove in the ground, broke my neck. Went from being at the top of my game to the worst part of my life, you know, all happened within a gate opening at a bull riding.
Tiffany Davis
I was as mad at God because I was like, why did you do this to Jerome? He's a good guy. You needed him on your team out here.
Jerome Davis
We were supposed to be getting married in May. Well, right after I got hurt, I was at the hospital, and I told tf I said, I don't think this
Kenny Dietz
is going to work.
Jerome Davis
You need to. We need to regroup. This is not the trail you need to be going down. And if she would have left that day, I wouldn't have blamed her. You know what I mean? And I never would have said a bad word about her.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
I never gave thought about leaving.
Tiffany Davis
That wasn't an option because I still had Jerome.
Jerome Davis
I couldn't talk her into it. So I was kind of glad she hung around. I'll be honest. I Lived through it and it just made me tougher and I was able to make a pretty good living at sport. It's been good to me when I look around and see everything that's here today. It all comes from the love of the sport. I mean, everything I wanted to do had to do with being a cowboy.
Tiffany Davis
What is going on with the birds over there?
Jerome Davis
You just messed this whole shot.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Keep.
Tiffany Davis
I'm going to redo it, but I could. The birds messed the whole shot up, not me. I thought we was getting ready to get attacked.
Jerome Davis
You like that dog bit?
Tiffany Davis
I thought the birds was coming after us. There was so many of them.
Jerome Davis
Just stay focused. It's going to really break. Bring a new light to what this cowboy life's really about.

Sigh. Everybody with a heart. Richard Childress. About three weeks ago, when we lost Kyle Busch, maybe a week after we lost Kyle, Richard childress says, On June 6th, we're going to hold a press conference at Michigan and everybody's like, probably going to announce something that they're going to do for Braxton or help Samantha Bush out. It was, we weren't even close. It was a tribute press conference. Richard Childress gets up there Saturday at Michigan, says, I just want to announce that we just held our press conference date. Kyle Busch was going to be here with me and Kyle Busch agreed to a contract extension. Instead of keeping this myself, I want you all to know it. And Richard Childer said, Kyle Busch said to me, richard, if you give me the same type of car you've given me the last two races, I can get this car in the chase. So, Kenny, you know, Richard's a badass. I mean, what a tribute, you know, to hold the press conference that was scheduled.
Kenny Schrader
Well, it, I, it makes me happy that they had come to an agreement and they were going to do it now. You know, it doesn't change the results or anything or what happened, but it's Just good to know. It's just good to know. You know, Richard, you talk about replacing two drivers to high, high profile drivers. You know, we're talking seven championships with was sick. Childers had six with Dale had seven. He had to replace him. Kyle had three. They weren't with rcr but have to replace him. That's, that's a lot to go through, you know. Plus, you know, Richard and Dale, you know, that friendship was. That was a lot more than owner driver. I don't, oh, I don't know. We just don't know how Kyle and Richards was. But when you drive for somebody for, for three years, you, you know, you, you develop quite a relationship. They're started out pretty rocky, you know, when he held his watch and stuff. But they had to be, you know, dead end. And Kyle going to him and saying, you give me a car like that, like you give me last two weeks and I'll get us there. It had to be okay, you know,
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
I'm with you, man. That has, that has to be harder. Rich Richard, although he's got everything, it could appear he has everything but boy, he's been roughed up having to make two very difficult decision losing two drivers. We've talked about this, but it's worth recognizing one more time. After the surprise press conference. The surprise announcement
Kenny Schrader
was.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
That's what it was. But Richard having to replace the great deal in our senior and now Kyle Busch. So tough times for Richard Childers and here yet again, he's got to overcome a tough time. Okay, Dietz, you got anything to add to that before we go to the truck series?
Kenny Dietz
I would just say that I think this is. The situation is made even more difficult because when Earnhardt died there was a plan. The plan was that Harvard was going to take the car over. It was going to be a year later, but was was going to take the car over. You know this. They were talking about re upping contracts. So you know what he's going to do as far as putting somebody in that car. To me, it would make total sense to put Jesse Love in there. But I kind of. You keep hearing this stuff with him with Wood Brothers. That ship might already sail and maybe Austin Hill goes into it full time next year. I kind of got my doubts, but I, you know that that's going to make this situation even tougher for him and it's bad enough as it is.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Okay, there's. That's a loaded conversation right there into. The reason it's loaded is because, you know, everybody knows Austin Dillon and cows number eight, that car hasn't been running very good. So, you know, they're. They're still working on finding speed, so we'll let that play out and we'll let them find speed. And I think they're doing the right thing. I think Austin, great racer. Is he, you know, is he the next big thing? No, but I think he's the driver for the moment. That's my opinion. Until they get some speed in that eight and in that three of Austin Dillon, I think Austin Hill is the right driver. Am I wrong, Kenny?
Kenny Schrader
No, no. They got. They got to. They got to find more speed first. Austin's. Austin has performed. He's had some fantastic Saturday performances, you know, against some of the same guys he's run with on Sundays also. So I would say first thing they got to do is find a little more speed in those two cars, which is a whole lot easier for us to say than it is for a team to do.
Jerome Davis
Oh, yeah.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Well, we've been in that garage our whole life, so it's okay for us to say. All right, switching subjects, everybody. This truck race. Oh, my lord. And as Deets reminded me, I believe we said it last week, but Corey Hine wins the truck race in super exciting fashion over at Caden Honeycutt. Now, this is Corey Heim's third win in the last four starts. And just a reminder that Corey Heim has been announced by Denny Hamlin to drive in the cup series next year with 2311. And Corey Hyen will take Riley Herb spot. So just a reminder. But anyway, Kenny, they're waving the white flag, and you know these big old boxy trucks, they're digging Corey Hines going down the front straightaway. And here comes Honeycutt, and he's gonna make a left, and he's gonna pass Corey. Corey throws a mean block on him like. Like, boy, I'm gonna spin you out. But Caden Hunnicott doesn't. And they go on around the racetrack. They come off a turn four, and Honeycutt's got another run, and he just wins. You know, Corey wins it by half. A truck like, you run those trucks. Tell me that drafting effect those big trucks got and made this such an exciting last lap.
Kenny Schrader
Big old trucks, you know, they got big old square, rectangular front end, tall, so much taller and not as sloppy as the cars. I got that big old cab sticking up, and they make a big hole in here. So the draft is just. It's a bigger hole, so it's easier to get a bigger run. And it's they put on a show because of that, but it's. It's pretty hard. I mean, you got to block the hell out of. You can't just block them a little bit in those trucks.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Okay, I'm going to go somewhere that I know you might not be happy with me going in. And we didn't do it in the test, but I had it near the. No, I'll lay off. But it's worth. It's worth talking because the fans love Cletus. Cletus runs that truck race, and Buddy, he gets.
Kenny Schrader
He gets.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
He's a highlight reel. Cletus, I mean, has got that truck, everything. I mean, he's. He's running, he's making laps. He's not finishing well, but he's like 17th, 20th, and slides it and, you know, spins out, causes a caution, finishes 25th out of 36 trucks. I don't need you to agree with me. I just need to say, look, he doesn't. He's not. He's not crying over spilt milk. NASCAR said you got to keep running. So he's putting the time in. I mean, an attaboy for putting time in.
Kenny Schrader
He's. He's going to continue to get better. He's going to continue to get better. The more laps he gets. It just takes a lot of laps. The laps he's getting now are his introduction into oval track racing. You know, he doesn't have 10 years of shark track racing behind me, but he's getting laps. And I'm sure we're going to see him. See him around for probably as long as he wants to do it, and that could be a long time. I got no problem with him being there. I got a problem that, you know, they let him there right from the start, but he's been there now. He's run some races. He's like anybody else. Just go, race. He's going to get better.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
And to finish that off, Kenny, I know you're busy, but, you know, Cletus had some balls in last week. He went up, you know, he. They logged him on like we're doing here at Dirty Mo for the Door Bumper Clear, one of the more popular shows. And Tommy Baldwin said it best. Tommy Baldwin, you know, he's a badass. He looks right at Cletus and goes, cletus, we like you. We just didn't like NASCAR just let you do whatever you want to do. You need to put your laps in. And. And Cletus says, hey, listen, I appreciate that. You guys are right. So all's well that ends well. Everybody, they're talking to each other and they're kumbaya. But it, I'm just letting you let you know, Kenny, you're right.
Kenny Schrader
He's gonna, he's gonna continue to get better. He was on the pole. The ark race.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yeah. Hey, I forgot about that.
Kenny Schrader
Keep going. No, that's all I know. I think they had an engine failure. He had dropped back some, but he's going to continue to get better. Some more laps he gives.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yeah. Everybody. Cletus. That's quick time. That ain't easy to do. That's hard.

Moving on. And boy, have we done good. It shows we're better.
Kenny Dietz
Yeah, we, we should have done great.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Our fourth try. Yeah, it's right where we're at. We'll stroke it out just a little bit more here. We'll keep the Monaco thing in before we go to dirt racing, but we'll clean the Monaco stuff up. Dietz, I'll throw this to you. Monaco learned a lot. You know, we know that at Monaco for Formula one racing, when they drop the green flag, they start from a standing stop. They all just. It's been that way forever. And when they took off, our four time champ Max Verstappen shocks everybody and kills the motor. Now Max comes over the radio and goes, what's that all about? And that's it. He's out of the race because they got to throw the red flag. Because when they come back around the track at Monaco, there's his car sitting there. But I mean, you know, the first try at the show, I said, think about it. That team loads all that stuff up, goes there and kill it, and that's it, it's over. Just, man, that's Hard pillow to swallow.
Kenny Dietz
Yeah, well, I mean the trader said rules are rules. He said that earlier. And you can't, you can't put it any different. I mean if that's the rule, that's what they got to do.
Kenny Schrader
We've, we've seen guys wreck on the warm up lap for the Indians 500 before. Someone did it last year. One of the, one of the heavy hitters did it last year.
Kenny Dietz
25 Scott McLaughlin. It was Pinsky's car.
Kenny Schrader
Roberto Guerrero did it a long time ago. I mean it, it happens. Now the big thing is I don't know where he started in that race.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Where Max was, where he was second or third. He was top three in qualifying.
Kenny Schrader
Okay. Where he was gritted before he start. If he would have started. But I guess the biggest thing. First things first is they all missed him to start the race. They threw the green and everybody drove by. Yes, but they can't just leave him there for the next time they come by. It's speed. So. But that's, you know, they make their rules. That's it. The only time we've seen, I wanna. The only time we've seen something really goofy like that happen in a major, major series was they took the green flag at Charlotte for the All Star race when it was raining. Oh, and we just said, okay, forget about that. Everybody go to their trucks, get the backup cars, we'll play some music, drive the track and we'll start over. But that was a different race. It wasn't a regular points race. That's an exhibition event.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Kenny, you will remember that night better than me. I think I was a fan that night. Were you in that race?
Kenny Schrader
No, we had run the open and didn't transfer. And I was in the condo and I was trying to call Mike real quick when they turned off the yellow lights. They're in turns three and four. You are kidding me. Because it was raining down one. I'm sitting in the condo and I told her, I said, hey guys, get up here. Watch this. This is going to be big.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Oh my gosh. So Kenny, you're in the condo. They dropped the green flag and what I remember was the track was kind of black that year. Black, Black.
Kenny Schrader
So.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
And it's only raining in that corner, but nowhere else.
Kenny Dietz
And it was pouring though. I mean it was not drizzling, it was pouring in that turn.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
That is a problem in big, big speedway racing. It's raining here, not there.
Kenny Schrader
And I just, I just don't know who was. I would love to know who was in turn one with the NASCAR radio, somebody.
Kenny Dietz
I was. Yeah, some. Somebody probably got chewed out. I remember I was in the pits because I was just getting started in TV and we were all kind of looking at each other and like, what, what are they doing? They getting ready to all wreck and turn ones. What they were doing.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Okay, so, yeah, and we're just talking about a show. So. Yeah, good stuff and great story. So Max Verstappen, they drop the green flag and his car dies and that's it, he's out of the race.
Kenny Schrader
Wow.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
That was just, you know, that's racing. But one thing I just wanted to bring up about Monaco is that, you know, in history, more than like 10 out of 10, whoever starts on pole wins the race. So Formula One, they put on a hell of a show saying, okay, they're just going to go around in circles. You know, the last time we saw anybody pass was the great Ayrton Senna in the rain. This. Go to YouTube. Ayrton Senna in the rain. Monaco, just insane. But you know, they're right there on the ocean and they got these hundred million dollar yachts and they use them as hospitality suites for, you know, all these automakers. And I'm telling you what you, you talk about a show, you know, Kurt Busch, Kurt went there a couple years ago and I talked to him about it. So on my bucket list, of course, I'm a big James Bond fan. I want to go to Monaco because James Bond in the movies would gamble it in Monaco. You know, hey, you know what?
Kenny Dietz
It probably will not be to the same scale, but that weekend in San Diego on that air base, I'll guarantee you you're going to see yachts and stuff out there in San Diego. It might not be $100 million, but God, I think you'll see it if
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
you go on Instagram, anybody. And just look at the F1 race. It was off the charts. All right, we're leaving Monaco in of all places, we're leaving million dollar race cars, $100 million yachts, and we're going straight to Eldora. Kenny, it's. I love serving this dirt racing up to you. And it's. It was the dream. Give us a dirt racing report.
Kenny Schrader
80 something late models. I believe it was a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday show. I think Thursday and Friday. I don't know. Wednesday paid Thursday and Friday both paid 30. Sunday, Saturday paid 100. And they had a downpour Saturday afternoon which Levi Jones and the whole Eldora crew overcame. And they had an excellent racetrack. It still Got over at a good time? Yeah, I think around. Around 11, maybe something around then. You know, the fields are set. The heat races are set Saturday by your finishing position and points accumulated on your qualifying night run. Six heat races in the B main run, 100 lap feature and Bobby Pierce won it from a little ways back, 10th or 12th, I don't remember. Somewhere around there, maybe. He's been, he's been fast everywhere but him and Eldora really get along. This was his first dream windmill. It's just a great, great weekend of racing dates.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
I'm going to go complete opposite. And I don't mean to catch you off guard. Does it aggravate you that dirt racing is so much better right now than asphalt super late model racing? I mean, you know, Kenny and myself, we grew up running ASA cars. We love asphalt, super late models, but I mean it's almost like asphalt. I mean, it's like if you don't have the snowball derby, it's like it don't exist anymore. What does it upset you that dirt racing is king?
Kenny Dietz
Well, first off, in all transparency, they know what I'm going to say because I said it the first time. But I'm glad, I'm glad Kenny asked again.
Kenny Schrader
Do I have to be here for this part?
Kenny Dietz
I could just.
Kenny Schrader
You.
Kenny Dietz
Well, yeah, we didn't have you last time. That's the reason we're having to redo it. Yeah, no, it doesn't aggravate me. I, I like all kinds of racing pavement or dirt, but everything going on in pavement right now, they've done to themselves. You know, I've used the example of like this past weekend at Dylan Lakeview's. The dirt track is 20 minutes away. Dylan might have had 40 people in the stands and Lakeview had 400, you know, and everything is. The weather's the same every. I mean, they're 20 minutes apart. So you're comparing apples to apples. And Ron Barfield, nobody could go in there and do any better job running a racetrack than Ron Barfield. It has nothing to do with that, but that's just the way it is straight across the board with pavement dirt. And I think in New England pavements doing better because you've had consistency up there with the modifieds and with. With the racetracks like Oxford and Stafford and places like that. But you know, especially in the south, in the Midwest, I mean, dirt's killing pavement and I just think pavement, they've done it to themselves. They go out there and they practice for a day, you know, and I
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
go that bothers me.
Kenny Dietz
It's stupid. And I go to the dirt track and they practice three laps. I mean, it just. It's. I don't know. I don't know if you can fix pavement racing. You know, dirt. The rules are a lot more closely aligned. The series seemed that. I'm sure they compete against one another, but they seem to work together better, at least around schedules and big races and stuff like that. Pavement's got too many rules. It just. It costs too much. And, you know, that's the only way promoters are making money is selling practice tires and. And I don't know how you can fix it.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Aren't they embarrassed of themselves? You go to Snowball Derby and they practice for two days. Stephen Wallace told me when he won the Snowball Derby. Yes, Stephen Wallace won the Snowball Derby. Spent $20,000 on tires.
Kenny Dietz
It's dumb, it's stupid. But as long as the racers are stupid enough to keep doing it, I
Jerome Davis
mean,
Kenny Dietz
then it's going to keep happening, and the promoters have got to do it because they can't make any money at the front or the back.
Tiffany Davis
Yeah.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Well, I wish you the best.
Kenny Schrader
Something I think I read that was the first time we saw Eldora. Eldora was not a Lucas Oil race or a world of outlaw race, but we saw the Lucas Oil command trailer in the pits alongside the work world of outlaw command trailer in the pits because it's a very important race for dirt late model racing, regardless of the fact that it's not sanctioned by either group and they were there for the good of the event.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Man, I love that. I had no idea. And I like that. And here's why. United States is big. I just don't think one series can cover it all. I mean, like, high limit in sprint cars and world outlaws. Looks like to me, it's. Is. Am I missing anything? Looks like it's working out.
Kenny Schrader
I don't know all the details, but, I mean, just from the outside looking in, it's. Nobody's in big trouble.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Right?
Kenny Dietz
Let me give you a real quick example with super late model racing. And these are three races. Everybody knows Snowball Derby, Oxford 250 Slinger Nationals. And they all run with different rules and different tires.
Kenny Schrader
Yep.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Good point. Okay, Deets. Damn. See, I knew you was a racer. You might never drove a race car, but you know what's up. All right. Hey, here we are. We stroked this deal out. Do you got any junkie jokes?
Kenny Dietz
Yeah, I got some new ones for y' all from our earlier ones.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
So funny.
Kenny Dietz
What Was that one earlier. I'll find that one. Because you actually like this.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
The last one I thought was funny. It wasn't even a cliche. It was actually like a real joke.
Kenny Schrader
How does Geo sucking say goodbye?
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Oh, yeah, that was it.
Kenny Schrader
How, Kenny, it weighs.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yes, see, that's real. That's not a made up joke.
Kenny Dietz
All right, here's the new ones. What did one hat say to the other? You wait here, I'll go on ahead. What did the shark say when he ate the clownfish? This tastes a little funny.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Clownfish.
Kenny Dietz
What do you call a woman with one leg? Which I've actually got a woman with one leg story, if you ever want to hear that sometime. But what do you call a woman with one leg?
Kenny Schrader
Eileen.
Kenny Dietz
Eileen.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Eileen.
Kenny Dietz
Did you say it?
Kenny Schrader
I said Eileen.
Kenny Dietz
Good job. You know what? I'll tell you the one legged girl story real quick. So I was at a club at Myrtle Beach.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
They're going to edit. They're going to. No, they're not.
Kenny Dietz
Cuz it's not bad. It's not bad. There. There is this really pretty girl and I see her and she's got one leg. Not lying. She's got one leg. So I go over and I talk to her and I'm like, hey, do you want to dance? And she's like, come on, man, you know we're having a good time. Why are you making fun of me? I said, I am not making fun of you. I said, you get on this floor and you lean on me and we'll. I'll take care of the rest. And she did. She came out there and leaned on me.
Kenny Schrader
We had a good time.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
This is a real story.
Kenny Dietz
I swear to God, it was a real story. I told my friends, I said, I'm gonna go over there and ask that one legged girl to dance with me. And I did.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Kenny, that's real.
Kenny Schrader
Was her name Eileen?
Kenny Dietz
I can't remember what her name was. If her name was Eileen, I'd have married her.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
All right, everybody, I think on that, uh, I'll just say this Thursday night, myself and Kenny Schrader will be in Peoria, Illinois. I'm not talking for him. He will have more to say. We'll be in Peoria, Illinois for the summer national race Saturday. I will see you all at Berlin, Michigan. Berlin Raceway. I'll be driving an asphalt mod. That's what I'm up to. So see at Peoria on Thursday. Berlin, Michigan on Saturday. Kenny, what about you?
Kenny Schrader
Oh, I don't have to say anything. You said it all for me.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
I said one date.
Kenny Schrader
We're going to Peoria Thursday, and I don't know what I'm going to do Friday and Saturday because it's only Monday.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
True. All right, everybody, as Kenny says, you know, over there on the Kenny Walls YouTube show, you can watch us and see us. But if you're headed off to Pocono and you want to listen to us, tune in to Dale Earnhardt Jr's Dirty Mo Media podcast and you can listen to us. Is that it?

Kenny Dietz
We'll find out.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
