I'm looking at Kenny Schrader right now.
B
He had a drinker in the show. I mean, yeah, you.
A
How in the world did we agree to do a podcast?
B
I like spending time with you.
A
That makes me happy.
B
Well, it's all about making you happy.
A
We're always honest.
B
We don't know that we're not in trouble already. And sometimes truthful. What makes you think you're not a little different?
A
You're weird.
B
Good.
A
Herman Schrader. Herman Schrader The Dirty Mo media platform from the middle of America in St. Louis, Missouri. Starts right now.
B
Right now. I didn't know you were gonna say right now. I thought it's gonna say now.
A
That's all right. We can say now. It doesn't matter.
B
Yeah, it don't make any difference.
A
Craig Moore, I see you. I know you had to be closer to the action in Martinsville yesterday. How you doing today?
C
Doing all right? I'm doing good. It's a new day. As we were discussing off air before we went on air, it was an interesting weekend on my end to. I know nothing about engines, but I'll try to put it in an engine term. Let's say you've got a timing belt that's off and you know that just kind of messes up everything. That's basically what we were dealing with on Mr. If anybody listen to our broadcast, especially Saturday, you know what I'm talking about. It was not a good. Not a fun weekend.
A
Well, listen, we are getting to Martinsville right away. I Told Kenny and Craig off the air. I said, okay, this is what this show was made for. Today is our show because, I mean, we have. We have the four drivers, and the field is set, the stage is set all year long with all that complaining about the points are wrong. And Joey Logano was not a. That's. It's all out the air. It is a perfect day, Kenny. I mean, we got the best four drivers. I just want to say this, and we're going to get to what you did over the weekend, but let me just say this. We got the best drivers. We got Denny Hamlin, he won six races. Chase Briscoe won three races. Kyle Larson won three races. And William Bryan, William Byron, he wins three races. So, Kenny, we got the best drivers going to Phoenix.
B
Well, we've. We've got the ones that had the most successful years. Year. Now, who's got the old points figured out if.
A
Yeah, they do.
B
If we did it the old way, which we don't do it the old way. I know that. Watch the whole race yesterday.
A
Yeah.
B
And my gosh, we got four farmer champions trying to get in the. Get in, you know, the chase, and they're all running good. The host of ours gotta get. Gotta be a little bit dizzy today because he had a rough.
A
Three spit, three spin outs.
B
I didn't. Well, that's. That's not a record for Mark.
A
True.
B
And, you know, I'm a host of our fan, but, you know, he's. He's ruffled some feathers over the year, and it's a whole lot. It's one of the best places to pay someone back. Uh, so, I mean, it was just. It was just good, you know, and a little. Little controversy on the. When brain dead. When 24 car passed for the.
A
Oh, what a good one. That was good.
B
Yeah. But talking, you know, interviewing Blaney after the race, he said, hey, he was better. It was a little bit of a hole. It was as Nothing. There's still 100 and something to go. Just good, you know, Just good.
A
I agree. Okay, everybody, I think we teased it a little bit. Let's. Let's talk about what Kenny Schrader and myself did, and we'll come right back. We're gonna stay with the same show format, even though we are jacked up on Mountain Dew right now, because this is it, and we love this time of the year. All right, Kenny, I. I know what you did this year weekend, but I'm excited. What did you do?
B
We went down the road and raced Popper Bluff Friday Night. And I guess it was a poq.
A
Yes. Yes. Because that's what I was thinking you would say.
B
We were not running. We were running like ninth on pretty much a one lane track and like the seventh or eighth yellow flag and we're not halfway through the feature. I decided it was a good time to start heading home. And it was 14 when I got out of the car and I thought, okay, I'm just. Yeah. I'm Mr. Fuller, the dirt racer from up northeast. We saw an interview with him a couple weeks ago where he said he broke an interest rod. My interest rod was broke. It was. It was. It was cracked about 10 o' clock when we were lining up for the heat races. But so we did that Friday night. We went over to Grant City Saturday night and they. They combined a couple of their modified shows. The. Because of rain outs earlier. B mod. They run B mods and A mods together and had. It was good show. We weren't there Friday but we were able to win Saturday. So it worked out.
C
I have a question real quick and I've had Ashley Stremi try to explain this to me with no luck. Explain the difference in the different types of modifieds. So you're talking A mod, B mod suspension and horsepower.
B
And you don't have to have different suspension, but you get a weight break if you have a little simpler, less complex rear suspension, which we run a simpler one because it works better for us. But. And it's just a lot less horsepower. I mean 500 versus 800. And you know, sometimes they'll run about the same speed. They weren't the other night. We were four or five tenths off the B mods were. But it just. It's just different, cheaper car.
A
I would like to add Ken. Kenny's better at math than me, but I can add to the B mod is it could be closer to $20,000 cheaper because Kenny's motors max maybe 12 grand. I said that's. That's a lot on a B mod motor.
B
Yeah. You can spend 15 easy.
A
What are you doing? So you can buy a crate motor, a freezing crate motor for nine grand. And that's what one of the winningest drivers has, which is Trev Jacoby or Matthew Elder. They got a freezing crate motor, right. At 8, $900. The A mod motor is 30,000 plus. So that's 20 grand right there. The B mod is where all the cool kids are hanging out right now. It's 2 to 1. You can have 40 B mods and you know 15Amods. The B mods is the place to be right now. It's exciting, and they're gaining ground, and Kenny's over there. And this is my perfect cliche. So I joined Kenny. Hey, Kenny Wallace, what did you do this weekend? Well, I raced with Kenny Schrader on Saturday night. I drove one of our dear friends cars. I want to thank Donnie Jumper and Shane, his son. They let me drive his car. I finished fourth, and I had the perfect seat. I could not keep up with the three in front of me, and I was driving hard, but I was watching Kenny Schrader duel it out, and, I mean, they were sliding each other. They slid Kenny Schrader twice. They slid him twice, cleared him. Kenny came back underneath. So Kenny Schrader's win on Saturday night was one for the record book. Some are saying it was the best race at Granite this year. And I agree because I run every race at granite except two. And so congratulations, Kenny. You drove like a 20 year old. That you are.
B
And that you just sit on your ass in a car. It's no big deal.
A
And you.
B
You got to move your ankles, move your arms. Yeah.
A
You never let them.
B
I, like, I had to push the damn thing around.
A
You never let them. You. You never made a mistake, and you never. They. You did not sweat.
C
You.
A
You finished it off. That was a hell of. Hell of a win.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. Good stuff. Okay. That's what we did. Schrader poq'd, and they will bleep this out. So POQ means pissed off and quit.
B
And I got that from Terry Labonte. Terry Lebanon. Terry Labonte taught me that years ago. We were leaving one of the racetracks. I said, what happened to you? And we're going different directions. He's. I po Cued. I spent all week. Spent all week.
A
Okay, we are headed back to nascar, everybody. We tease you early and, okay, we're going to have fun. We got notes. Craig sent the notes. But let's. Let's talk about some things that have just happened and the way it is. I say we have the best four drivers going to Phoenix. Kenny. However, there were two other ones that really wanted in, and it was Ryan Blaney who ran second. And. And listen, it was Craig Moore right here on this show last week. Craig Moore said, Ryan Blaney is going to win Martinsville. And Craig, you were so close.
C
People were talking about, oh, you can't pass at Martinsville. He did a lot of passing in Martinsville.
A
Kenny, man, Martinsville showed up yesterday. What did they get right. Was it Goodyear because the racing was off the charts.
B
Yeah. And I don't know, I heard them talking about tires. I don't know what the difference was in tire but I never really listened to what they said about how much tires were given up, which we were marbles.
A
There were marbles up.
B
Yeah, there were. Big day. They showed big hunks of rubber coming up off the cars. So I wouldn't say, you know, the track's just a track. It's just a combination of. The biggest factor is the tires. I don't know what the difference was in the tires, but it was definitely a two groove Martinsville and there was some, there was some three wide stuff every now and then, which I don't care what tire they got or what kind of car is it just doesn't successfully work at Martinsville for, for very long at all.
A
So Craig, back to you. How did you have espn? How did you know that Ryan Blaney was going to contend for this win last week? You said he would.
C
He's good at Martinsville. He's just good at Martinsville. The past few years he's been very good there. I think that that just fits it. And there's something about Ryan Blaney I just really like he, I, it's like he just stays so calm, cool and collected. I don't think, you know, at least from what I've seen, he's never lost his temper. He just.
A
Have you ever heard his in car radio?
C
Not. No.
B
Oh my gosh.
C
So he does lose his temper.
B
Oh, yeah. But he gets out of the car and he's, I mean, great interview with him yesterday. Yeah, but. Oh, I mean he's A couple of lap cars yesterday got between him and 24. You know, 24 goes by and they cut down in front of him just to make that turn. They're going to get out of the way, but just to make that turn. Well, he.
C
So one thing I noticed about that is, and maybe I'm reading too much into it, maybe there's nothing there. You guys would know better than I would. The cars that Byron was able to, you know, he got by him that Blaney had issues with. Were all Chevys. Is there something there or not or am I just reading too much into that?
B
It, it nothing there that made any difference in the outcome of the race. Right.
C
I agreed. Yes.
B
So yeah, I mean Byron was just a little better. Well, he better all day. He led so many laps, but he just, just got it done. Now Blaney Did a great job coming from the back, and if we was playing horseshoes or hand grenades, he would have been okay, but we weren't. We were keeping points, and he wasn't.
A
Okay, let me say this, Craig. I know what you're saying, and I was watching for it. You know, it's like, okay, are. The Chevrolet. Was Michael. Was Michael McDow, who drives. He drives for Spire. Right. Was he holding Ryan Blaney up just for that millisecond? Maybe, but it. It never. I. I think that meeting with nascar. NASCAR had a meeting with all the drivers. Remember, we talked about spotters. If we hear you talking about points. If we talk. If we hear you talking about so and so's coming. I think they heard that, and I don't think there was any. But, yeah, I hear you. Your point is valid.
C
So there were no shenanigans in your old opinions?
A
I don't think so. But we were. We were all aware of it. So it was proper, you bringing it up. Okay.
B
I was watching, and, well, I mean, it's in. It's like, okay, you know, there's gonna be a yellow, and it's not a 1980s debris yellow. It's a car sitting up top of the fence backwards, you know, so now we put the pit crew in it. Oh, got limited laps. Now we start. Both of them are in the front row, side by side, and they both get a good start, and nobody hits nobody. It's just good racing.
A
Boy, I could not have said that any better. I think all of us were on the edge of our seat on that restart, and, you know, I'm just waiting for the 24, William Byron to just get up into Blaney, and he doesn't. And like you said, Kenny, he wrapped that curve. William Byron wrapped that curb going down and turn one, that restart for all the marbles. I mean, we race all year long, and that was the corner of the year.
B
He.
A
He nailed it, and he was gone.
B
And, you know, it's not like. It's not like if he would have went down in there and just got into him just ever so slightly. Yeah, it's not like that had been a big deal, but if you were sitting in Ryan's spot, yeah, that'd have been enough to maybe turn your aggression up just a little bit. So it. It was just good.
A
So everybody says, who you going to choose? Now, we got a lot to say about Martin Zo yet, but this is just that Pit Stop, Kenny. I want to go back to it. Okay. Once the pit stops, Are over. There was 11 laps to go. So some could say this was the pit stop of the year. Right. For, for William Byron, this was the pit stop of the year because either he nails it and he doesn't go into the Chase, but, or the championship, but we come down pit road and those crew members, Kenny and Craig, their hearts had to be pounded. These guys are professionals. This is what they live for. And they mentioned it on tv. If you're not ready for this moment, then you need to be out of the sport and not a one of them messed up. I was, I was pleasantly surprised.
B
Yeah. And, and, and the drivers also had to get down pit road and off of pit road without any screw ups too.
A
Okay, let's talk about our most popular driver for a minute. Chase Elliott runs good, but just can never get up there and break through to lead this thing and show some dominance. We know William Byron led, What was it, 305? Craig?
C
Yeah, he a lot.
A
Yeah, 305 laps. But, but Chase Elliott, we got to mention him just because he is good. And, and in, you know, him and Ryan Blaney, they both finished what, second and fourth. So Kenny, when we go to Phoenix, these two drivers, especially Blaney, they can win Phoenix and Denny Hamlin can run second because Chase Elliott is a champion and he's won at Phoenix. My point is this. The champion does not need to win Phoenix.
B
No, we went, we went however many years we've done this now what'd we go the first six or something? And the champion wound up winning Homestead. And I know it's. I don't know how many times it's happened now. Most of the time the champions wound up winning the race. I know it hasn't been every time, but it would be real easy. I mean, if I was Ryan Mulaney or any of those guys, hell, it don't make any difference. Even if you're one of the guys not in the top eight going in that race, you go to Phoenix, you want to win damn race, you know, you're not involved in championship. And like they used to tell us at drivers meeting, you know, when we had like two guys racing for a championship maybe. And so if you hit one, make sure you hit the other because we. You're not going to mess up our. Yep. Well, there's a lot to be said for being one of those, you know, not one of those four guys. It's like, hey, them idiots better look out for me too because I, I got nothing to lose. I want to win a race.
A
I'm going to call it, guys. I'm going to say Ryan Blaney wins Phoenix next week just because Denny is where he's at in his career. Denny Hamlin to win the championship. Hey, this is Dylan Hart Jr. And for the latest Herman Schrader gear, you need to go to shop.dirtymomedia.com We've got plenty of options for everybody and we're adding new stuff all the time, so go to shop.dirtymomedia.com.

Wow, impressive. Let me try. T Mobile is the best place to get iPhone 17 Pro because they've got the best network.

B
So yesterday, Hamlin and Briscoe and a 2311 car.
C
Herbst. Yeah, I know where you're going.
B
Yeah. So we have an engine problem, which, you know, we just don't have that very often. No, I don't have notes. I didn't.
A
No, it's just. You're right on it. You're. You're on it.
B
You don't think we're going. That's not in the back of our mind this week, is it? And the whole race next week.
A
Let me give you my thought because I'm right there with you, Kenny. The Gibbs cars that are locked in the championship blew up. Let's play devil's advocate. And they do this. Did the motor department at Joe Gibbs Racing say, okay, Denny Amlin and Chase are locked in. Let's give them a little bit different valve train or something like that. But Christopher Bell, let's just give him our normal motor because he's got to win the race.
B
I'm.
A
I'm thinking that there's no motor issues next week. I think this was Martinsville related and, you know, Bell finished, Ty Gibbs finished. I think that those two. I think Danny Amlin and Chase had a little something different.
B
I'll. And who knows? Who knows? We don't know. Don't make any difference. But I disagree with you.
A
Yep.
B
Because you don't take a team that's competing for the championship and knowing they're locked in anything to curb that could potentially curb their momentum. Because we hear all these guys talk about team around momentum. Get us up there every week. Up there every week. You know, you don't play with something that could potentially hurt those teams for that race. Even though it didn't make any difference in the. For them being in the playoff. You don't roll the dice and take away from their momentum and how much.
C
They actually mess with the actual. And, you know, I know there's certain things they can do to the engines, but those engines are pretty locked down.
B
Tight from what I. Yeah, but they're always. You're always. You're looking for something better.
A
You know, Denny, Denny said when they interviewed and they said, he. He said, I went in the corner, let off the gas and that and it quit. It ain't like, you know, it ain't. Wasn't an olden day blow up.
B
Yeah.
A
So.
B
Yeah.
A
Well, this race had it all. And I, I wanna. I wanna just say in ending. In. In my opinion. And Kenny, you. I was going there, you went there and let's finish this off. And this is just me, everybody. This is not the people on the show. This is the mean guy in me. You all moaned and complained all year long. You wanted the points changed. You. You want. You wanted everything changed because Alex Bowman was light at the scales at Charlotte a year or two ago, and that put Joey Logano in. You all went off something that was. That was an anomaly. It was. It was something that was very strange, but Joey was there to capitalize on it. That did not happen this year. And this point system showed up perfectly. And I just want to get that off my chest. This. This point system showed up perfectly, but you all moaned and moaned and moaned.
B
And I guess, yeah, you all ain't everybody. Just remember that when you say y'.
A
All.
B
It's not everybody.
A
Yeah, but they know what I mean. The majority. And I'm going to end. And it's going to be a question to both of you. In ending. In ending. We are going to have the State of the Union for NASCAR this weekend. They do it every year. And Steve o' Donnell told me through a text, you know, that's going to be the big State of the Union. I don't know when it's going to be Friday or Saturday. With everything that went on this year with Mark Martin getting the points changed, Steve o' Donnell said, we're going to change the sport. We're ending the race next year at Miami, Homestead. Kenny and Craig, Kenny, you go first. What do you think, Craig? Or what do you think Steve o' Donnell says this year at Phoenix?
B
I don't have a clue. I would hope, and I would think if I was them, that it would be something similar, you know, as far as the playoffs and then maybe come down to an accumulation of points over the last three races or something, I don't know. But I think the 16 to 12 to 8 to 4 has been great. You know, I like that part. And I know that our sport is our sport. It's not like other sports. But there's a reason all them other sports do it like that. Also.
A
I think that the media wears him out. I think that the media. I think, like, you know, it might not be Jeff Gluck, it might not be Bob Pocrats, but I think they wear him out. You know, about the. The new. Hell, yeah. NASCAR is going back to its roots. Earnhardt's my man. They made a big deal out of that. They paid a lot of money for that group to come up with. What do we do to, you know, recognize our old fans without getting rid of the new ones? Is. Was the quote by Steve o' Donnell I'm going to be interested. It's going to be interesting weekend for a lot of reasons, not just the championship, but I think all eyes will be on the Steve o' Donnell State of the Union of the sport. Okay. One little thing here. I thought it was. I thought it was kind of a cliche, but Bob Pockgrass. I will give credit to Bob Pockrass, and I didn't really realize it. No. 4 Pete for Penske. I didn't realize Penske has won the last four championships, so this will be the first time we go, but, you know, Penske going to get his jab in. So expecting Ryan Blaney to win Phoenix.
B
Kenny, he's won the Last three because no. 4 Pete.
A
No. 4 Pete. Yeah, I guess you're right.
B
Yep.
A
Three.
B
Last three. Yeah. Well, you know, I text the boss today, said, hey, you got a 50% chance. You know, he's got two of them in there. But it was. It was, you know, it looking very, very strongly that it could been a Penske, a Hendrick, and two Gibbs. So I don't know, man. It's just so competitive. It.
A
I like it in ending everybody. Yesterday was a good day for nascar. I'll serve one more up. Kenny and Craig. Craig, I know you work for nascar, so I got. I'm not even going to ask you this, Kenny. Was there anything that NASCAR had to deal with negatively? I think they go into Phoenix clean and happy.
B
Well, I would think so. You know, and the stuff they got to deal with it is in the past. You know, most anytime when the stuff they have to deal with they didn't do. Someone else did. And. And they're the ones that have to deal with it. But yeah, they. I mean, there's no. No big sidebars about something happen and this guy messed up and this guy shouldn't be in. This guy should. It? Just. That's the way it. That's the four that are in the way in. It's good. Yeah.
C
I'll. I'd like to say one thing.
A
Oh, yay.
C
Okay. But I. I'm. I just want to talk about Martinsville, and we were talking about the older fans and the whole Hel.
B
Yeah.
C
All that stuff.
A
Yeah.
C
Buddy of mine text me yesterday from Martinsville. He and I, back in the day before I got with mrn, we used to go to a lot of races together, and he has not been to a race, and I'd say 15, 20 years. And he went to Martinsville yesterday and he and I were texting and he said this is just like it was then. Yes, I love it. I can't believe I stopped going and I'm going to continue to. You know. So the older fan is still there and they just need to come back. You know, if they stop going to the races they need to come back.
D
Just go to one Morning Zoe got donuts.

Jeff Bridges why are you still living above our garage?

Oh, really? Okay, so let me just tell everybody. 78% of the people said NASCAR race at Martinsville was a good race. That is after 7734 votes. So 78% of the people say it was a great race. I agree.
B
Yeah.
A
Who are the other 22%?
B
Well, there's going to be, there's going to be. I mean, when it's fantastic, they're going to be 15 or 20%, so it doesn't make any difference. But I mean, that's good. That's. That's mode's good for a sport.
A
So, Craig, that I want to interject that poll into what you were saying. And you know, Kenny and I have raced there our whole lives. You know, this race usually got. It kind of got that cold feel. Kind of the Martinsville fall race got that sentimental field like, oh, it's the end of the year by starts getting sad, emotional. Well, the crowd looked good, the vibe was good, and I think it's awesome. But what do you think that was all about since you, you were the closest down there? What was, what was. Were you in the studios or were you at the race?
C
No, I was in the studios. I was not at the track. I was in Concord.
A
Did you hear.
C
I mean, I know, I know that they were yesterday. Yesterday. Yeah. Like you said, we're taping this on Monday. The shots that I saw on my TV monitors, you know, just before green, there's still lines of people waiting to get into the track and those stands filled up and it did my heart good because Martinsville is my favorite track. That was the first time I saw a race. My first weekend with MRN was Martinsville. My first time directing was at Martinsville. I love Martinsville and I just. Yes. And the fall race, especially to me, is the better of the two Martinsville races. I just love that crispness in the air. You just, you know, you eat a couple hot dogs. Martinsville's the best now.
B
Pretty cool. You think that it was, it was by far. That would be the only track that was in the, on the circuit when NASCAR started. You know, still there and still getting it and still popular and we're in the fall. But this is, you know, I don't remember. It was never the second to last race.
A
Sidebar note emotional sidebar for the purist. The original grandfather clock company went out of business, so they had to find a new company. And you know, Bob Po, I follow him and I thought, oh, good little sidebar. So don't know who it is. Maybe you can Google that, Craig, or. Or what it was. But Kenny, that. That clock sure is meaningful. I hear that the teams, when they leave the racetrack, sometimes back in our day, they drive up the top of the hill. I guess they'd load it in the hauler. Not sure what they do nowadays. Just your thoughts on the clock.
B
It's pretty neat. I've got one. Didn't win it, but it was Robert G's that won it there. And Boyce bought it at an auction.
A
Oh, my gosh.
B
Boys at shop. But even a bigger story than the clock is the hot dogs. 19, whatever. I don't remember what year it was, but we were there racing. And I guess it was Bill Jr. It wouldn't have been senior, but Bill Jr. Came in, Saturday morning, they get us a couple hot dogs. And the hot dog manufacturer had been changed.
A
Oh, I remember this.
B
Guess what? When that place opened up on Sunday, we had the original hot dogs back in there.
A
What a story.
B
Yeah. Hell with that trophy and those laps and all that stuff, but let's get the right hot dogs back in here. And that's. It's. They're good.
C
Informal poll.
A
Yeah.
C
Most hot dogs you've ever had at Martinsville on a weekend.
B
Oh, I'm. I'm a. I. I like hot dogs. I'm not a. I don't eat them, but I like hot dogs. But two on a weekend. Tournament. Weekend would have been a lot. But you see numbers, you see chalk marks up in the garage. And you watch Martinsville when they said they were going to build garages, like, really? How in the hell are you going to build garages in here? And it wound up being one of our better garages, you know, and back in the day. But it was pretty. They were pretty low and they. Steel beams would come down and red iron. And you'd see like, you know, the four things with the marks with the slash through it. And you'd see like, you know, the number 23 up there or something. And you see it on all these beams and it's like, what the hell is that? You know, and it was people keeping track of their hot dogs during the weekend.
A
Okay, look, I'm gonna say it. Nobody loves Martinsville as much as me. It's. It's a. It's. It's our oldest track. Right. Darlington in Martinsville. When I see that hot dog, I look at it and I look at the person and I go, you're gonna eat that. It. It's wonderful. Yeah, well, that's just Me, I'm having fun with it. Everybody eat them. They're great. So is that in an in ending here? We just answer our own question, I think. Why is that fall race so sentimental? You can feel everybody's love for the sport. Is it the clock? Is it the hot dog? Is it, you know, the leaves are falling? Is it that? Or is it the love for the sport? What is it?
C
I think it's all the above. I think that the. You bring up a good point. The leaves are falling. The trees are turning colors.
A
It's end of the year.
C
End of the year. There's just something about that fall race that's just very special.
B
Yeah. And. And the majority of people drive up.
A
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Because you're. Yeah. Let's be honest. The great thing about Martinsville is it is a throwback. I mean, I don't know what it looks like exactly right now, but when I first went to Martinsville, Kenny, I don't know about you or Craig. When I first went to Martin Zone, we got ready to turn in. I thought we turned into a subdivision. And. And there's houses. Houses on both sides. And you're like, what, drive down that street?
B
I mean, it was a regular street. I don't know if them houses are still there or not. Well, I went to Martinsville. We qualified. Practice. Qualified on Wednesday first. First 20 would lock in on Wednesday or 15, whatever it was. Might have been 15 and 15, Thursday and 10, but whatever we qualified. I went for Mr. Dylevy, and they went over to NASCAR trailer and said, okay, make sure someone writes stand on our qualifying time from the first day.
A
Gosh.
B
Because they loaded up in the van and went home. And I said, okay, so we're not gonna be here Thursday or run or Friday or Saturday? No, we're going home. Okay. I said, what about practice? They said, you're gonna get 500 laps Sunday and you're not gonna finish the race anyway. What do you mean, I'm not going to finish the race, so. Well, you know, you're going to. You're going to burn the brakes off. I said, I'm not going to burn the brakes off. Yeah. I mean, you won't try to, but you will. Okay, well, we didn't burn the brakes off. We finished 10th or 11th. I think we might have been 10th. And it was. It was. But they just went home. I'm like, wow, it's changed a lot.
A
That reminds me of daytona Speed Weeks 1984. You know, I'm on the Levi Garrett team, and even When I was a kid, maybe I got into pits a couple times earlier and you'd watch Hoss Ellington and some of the legends, they would, they would do that, they'd qualify and they. And if they weren't into Bud Shootout or whatever it was, they put the car covered on that thing. And those boys were on the beach all week long, weren't they, Kenny?
B
Awesome guys were for sure. Great.
A
That old Hawaiian Tropic car. Look at us talk. Everybody that. But that is nascar. That's what makes it great. Okay, new segment. We just started this segment a couple weeks ago. It's called Craig Moore's Notes. And here we go. William Byron is the winner at Martinsville. Had to win to make the final four. One from the pole. And this I didn't really realize. He won all the stages. So it was complete domination from the pole. Yeah. One from pole and won all stages. It was William Byron's third win this season. He previously sworn at Daytona and Iowa. Man, I tell you what, I like these reminders. It was also William Byron's third win at Martinsville in his 16th start. He previously won in April of 2022 and April of 2024. Well, so he finally won in the fall. It is his 14th win in this next gen car. I think he got used to it pretty quick. Wow, listen to this one. William Byron is tired for second most wins among all drivers. Is that in the next gen car, Craig?
C
Yeah, in the next gen car.
A
Yeah. It was William Byron's first career win in an elimination race. Wow. That's. In baseball. They call it a walk off. You hit the home run and that's it. There's no other innings. You're. You're going, you win. He advances to his consecutive third championship four.
B
Wow.
A
Okay. And. And then to end in this situation, Kenny, this is. This is you. This is Hendrick Motorsports. 62nd win in a playoff race. Most all time. So they've dominated playoffs.
B
I would say William Byron has eased into the seat of that 24 car. Very good. And he's doing proud.
C
And it was 10 years ago, this race, that Jeff Gordon in the 24 won and got into the playoffs.
B
Yeah. And it was also. Was it 21 years ago with the plane crash?
A
Yes.
B
He talked about highs and lows.
A
Yeah.
B
Hendrick.
A
Yeah. Gosh, man, oh, man. I still think about you and Ann going over to see Mr. H. Yeah. Yeah. I just what, what a good human beings you and Ann are.
B
Anyway, it's just Martinsville's big and anything's been around that Long, still there. See them pictures of when the first guy, the red Byron, maybe won the race there. They expected however many people they expected. They had like twice as many they expected. And they told people to come out after church, they were gonna hit a race, and it was a dust bowl and stuff and. But it's just set the stage for, you know, what it's turned into.
C
Was Martinsville originally a dirt track.
B
Oh, yeah.
C
Okay. The coops, when did they remove. You know.
A
This is. This is what we have you for, Craig. Yeah, yeah, that's what we have you for, my friend.
C
So I need to look that up and answer my own questions.
B
Yeah, we'll find out for you, Craig.
A
Yeah. Okay. Craig's notes.
B
We gave you one job. Yeah.
A
Get on your little computer there and tell us. And I'm going to keep going with your notes here. Okay, so here we are, everybody. This is a fun. We're only going to be able to do this once a year. So our champion four drivers here's kind of who they are. Kyle Larson, 33 years old from Elk Grove, California, drives for Hendrick Motorsports. I think that's pretty cool. Kyle Larson, three wins on the season, his 32nd career wins. And Kenny, when I go through each driver, Kenny or Craig, feel free to stop me. This is.
B
We always.
C
No, I'm gonna stop you right now because I've answered my question. I'm just not gonna tell you guys the answer.
A
You better.
C
Right there.
B
Oh, yeah, read it.
A
Read.
C
Was paved with asphalt in September 1955.
B

Kyle Larson, 33 years old, Elk Grove, drives for Hendrick. Three wins this season, 32 career wins already for Kyle Larson, third championship, four appearance and he is your 2021 cup champion. So Kyle Larson is your only champion.
B
All right.
A
Denny Hamlin, 44 years old from Chesterfield, Virginia, drives for Gibbs. Six wins on the season. And this is the big one. 60 career cup wins, fifth championship for appearance. Best championship finish was in 2010. He finished second. All right, feel good feelings. Here we go. Chase Briscoe, 30 years old from Mitchell, Indiana, drives for Gibbs. Three wins this season, five career wins. Boy, he's a newie. First championship for appearance. And wouldn't it be something if he just wins it all?
B
Wow.
A
And in the ending, everybody, William Byron, the baby of the bunch. 27 years old from Charlotte, North Carolina, drives for Hendrick. Three wins on the season, 16 career wins, his third championship for appearance. Does anything stand out to you guys on those awesome notes?
B
It does me. No matter which one of them four win it. Not going to be surprised.
A
Yeah, because they've had a hell of a year.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. And like we said, the only champion going into this deal is Kyle Larson. And that is worth noting. Okay, the Xfinity Series. Taylor Gray wins his very first race ever in his 45th start. Taylor Gray one. So going to their championship. Let's be clear, everybody. Next week. That's it for everything. Just a reminder, next week is the end of NASCAR for 2025, and going to the championship round is Justin Allgaier, Connor Zillich, Jesse Love, and I guess. Is it Taylor Gray? No, because he ain't in the. Why don't we have three here? Well, we'll figure that out. I got Justin Augar, Connor Zillis, Jesse Love, and I don't Know who else?
C
Carson Guapple.
A
Oh, Carson Quapple. Wow.
D
June.
A
Junior's got to have a lot to cheer on. He's got Justin and Carson and Connor. Oh, my God. He's got. Looks like Junior got a good shot that 75% chance. Yeah. And Jesse Love, he drives for Richard Childress. So it's going to be Junior motorsport versus Richard Childress.
C
So Chevy's going to win the championship.
A
Yep. Wow. That's good stuff. Okay. Trucks, man. This Corey Heim is just something else. 11th win and he won Martinsville. It's worth noting that Corey Hine, that was his 20. Okay, Kenny, here's your math. Corey Himes, 22nd career win in 88 starts. Wow.
B
22Nd. 88. That's 25%. Yeah.
A
Right. Okay. And here are your final four in the trucks, everybody. Corey Heim, Ty Majeski. Wow. This one's Tyler Ancrum, which I've heard of, but. Okay. And. And now the. This one I'm happy about Caden Honeycutt. And here's why. This week on Kenny Conversation, I did Stuart Friesen, and that is Stuart's. That's the Hallmark Freezing truck team. And don't you know, Stuart will be there in his. On his crutches. And so there you go, everybody. Anything on those Xfinity and Truck?
B
Well, it just, it's just. I mean, four great races or three races, you know, But I mean, it's going to be a huge weekend.
A
Yeah. And this will finish Craig's notes. I love this segment. Whalen modified Austin Beers is the champ. Youngest. Well, and modified champion. The previous young and, you know, modified champ was Ryan Priest. And speaking of Ryan Priest. Damn. Did he have a career race yesterday? He. He ran like top three most of the race.
C
Yeah, he ended up finishing sixth yesterday.
B
Yeah. Where'd Barry finish? Because he was.
C
He finished 10th.
B
Yeah. He had an up and down day. Turned around. I saw him turned around. I, I had the 21 car turned around in the same area one time, except I was more successful. I, I went ahead and finished it off. I, I had. He got. He got stopped, but he was up and down. But he was. He was up when they got ready to give points at the end. One thing, one thing we got to mention too, you know, second place in points in an Ask Car point fund isn't as near as much as first. Right. Substantially more than third. Third is quite a bit more than fourth now. I don't know those numbers now. Yeah, but we're not. I mean, someone's gonna leave the champion and someone else is gonna be the runner up. And that's a whole lot better than being the third or the fourth.
A
And if I'm a guessing man, I'm thinking I'm just gonna say it because I put it out there, and somebody will answer us, respond right here. I'm thinking, the champ wins a lot of money. And I'm thinking second could be a million less. I'm thinking third could be.
B
I don't. I don't. I don't know the numbers anymore, but it's a lot less. Yeah.
A
So what you're saying, Kenny, is guys are going to want to finish second in the championship, whoever they are, if.
B
You don't win it. If you don't win it, the race or the championship, you want to be the second of those four cars.
A
And just think about what Kenny Schrader said, everybody. If you're racing NASCAR for a living and you're waiting for that percentage check right around Christmas time and you drive for 40 or 50%, and let's just say, you know the difference between second and points and fourth into points could be $2 million. Wow. Yeah, that's. That's. That's a great reminder, Kenny Schrader. Thank you.
B
That it's still a race and every position counts.
A
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. We have jokes and dirt racing. I didn't see any dirt racing this week except what we did.
B
What's. USM Speedway in Mississippi had a. Had a good little dirt race. I think Turbo runs second. I forget who won.
A
Ashton Winger.
B
Ashton Winger one.
A
Yeah. Yeah. And isn't that something? Because Ashton Winger just got some bad news that his win three weeks ago at Fairbury was deemed illegal for messing with the tires. Now, I'm just. That's just the news. I'm not giving my opinion. So Ashton Winger is deemed illegal from his Fairberry win, but then beats Turbo. Why not? That's a good reminder and a good story, Kenny.
B
Yeah. High Limits is over. Outlaws got rained out. There was no World Outlaw late mile race. That's this coming weekend, which everybody will be at the world. No, that's not this. That's two weeks still.
C
Two weeks. Yeah. This weekend we have the world Short Track Championship at the dirt track in Charlotte.
B
Right. Which will be a lot of cars.
C
Oh, yes. A ton of cars.
B
A lot of cars. Next two weekends at Charlotte is definitely happening.
A
And Kenny Schrader and myself, we like our little modifieds. USMTs rained out their two races. They really got rained out. Like it rained here in the Midwest. And congratulations to Rodney Sanders on his sixth USM TS championship. Todd Staley and his wife and family, they do a wonderful job with usmts, and I believe that is our first shout out. Herman Schrader for usmts.
B
They are the. They are the world of outlaws of the modified racing, no doubt. That's. That's the heavy hitters.
A
Yeah. And those guys do that for a living. I don't know how they do it, but they do it. And.
B
Well, they. Yeah, there's. It's a difference between doing it for a living and racing full time.
A
They got big construction companies.
B
Someone spent a lot of money. Right. For a living.
A
Okay, and this is it, everybody. We're going to close on jokes, and I'm hoping our man Craig comes to it for us.
C
All right, you ready? You ready?
A
Always.
C
Why do bees have sticky hair? Think about this. Why do bees have sticky hair?
B
It's all the honey.
C
You're close. Because they use honeycombs.
A
Good stuff.
B
All right.
C
How does a penguin build its house?
A
Does a penguin build its house one.
B
Cube at a time?
C
Again, you're close, Kenny, You're Schrader. You're getting there. It glues it together. Igloo. It glues it together.
B
Glues it. I'm lost.
C
Igloo. Like an igloo. You know, the. Oh, igloos together.
B
Okay.
C
All right. And then why don't oysters share their food there?
B
I got something going on.
C
Yeah, you do. Apparently.
B
Yeah.
C
You're looking at the. Are you trying to cheat trader? Trying to look up the answers.
B
No, no, no.
C
They're. They're shellfish. Shellfish. Oysters. So.
B
Hey, okay, I'm not an oyster guy.
C
I'm not either.
B
Wrong are alive. Right?
A
Say that.
B
Eat raw oysters. They're alive.
C
Or uncut are raw oysters. I don't know. I've never had.
A
I'm not oyster. If you paid me.
C
No.
A
And they eat them. There is an art to that. I went to. I went to Pensacola, Florida, there to something. Pete's. And those people sit at the bar and I mean, that is a gourmet. They take. They take the oyster, they put salt on it, they put the cracker on it, and then they look around for a little bit and then they slide it. And I just sit there for an hour and watch the guy. He just was so good at eating. There's an art to oyster eating now.
C
When I was in college, there was a oyster bar that served oyster shots. And we went there one night, and I did have a number of oyster Shots. The first one was pretty disgusting, but at that point, the alcohol took over and.
B
Yeah, yeah, you get used to it.
A
Yeah, I got it. I got a joke. Why couldn't the bad sailor learn the Alphabet? Because he always got lost at sea. I found it on Instagram.
B
Okay.
A
The rest of them were dirty and I couldn't tell them. I'm gonna tell you what. If somebody said you could only choose one social media and you wanted to be happy, you would just go to Instagram. I laugh and I laugh. I love Instagram.
B
How do you get anything done?
A
That is funny. Nobody asked me, but I always. I always. You are the first person. Well, no, you're about second person asked me. This week. I'm on social media so much that people wonder how I get things done. I guess I wake up in the morning, I do coffee with Kenny, I go to the shop and I work. And then around 12:31 o', clock, I go to lunch and I get on social media again. Then I go back shop. So I'm on social media three times a day, morning, noon, and evening. I guess while I'm eating. That's your answer, Kenny. I guess while I'm eating, I'm usually eating by myself.
C
And you can tell when Kenny's on when Herm is on social media because suddenly my timeline on Twitter X are a bunch of Kenny Wallace retweets and replies. And it's just one, you know, goes on forever.
A
Larry Mack says, I go to bed at night and I wake up the next morning and I get on x and it's all 36s because that's my. You know, I got the 36 there. Okay. All right, everybody, we did it again. 59 minutes an hour show. Anything else, guys?
B
Next weekend gonna be big. Gonna watch them all.
A
Yep. Are you racing anywhere next week, Kenny? What's up?
B
Springfield Raceway, Springfield, Missouri. Oh, for Turkey derby coming up.
A
Gotcha. Gotcha. Good stuff. Okay, nothing for me next week. Nothing for me next week. Let me look. Yeah, nothing. I was looking at the calendar. Okay, everybody, just the same reminder. If you want to see Kenny and Craig's beautiful faces, we are on the Kenny Wallace YouTube show.
