Yes. It starts right now. You know, yesterday I was home and there was no race to watch. I was confused. I was lost.

[Dietz]

Weird.

It felt.

It really is.

It did. It did feel weird.

You know, deets, that's a good subject matter right there. We don't have, we don't have any racing to talk about, so we got a show set up to talk about all the hot topics. Hell, that's one right there. Before we get rolling, what's it feel like not being able to complain? Nobody can complain this week. Is that a new sport? Is complaining a sport?

[Dietz]

Well, there's, there's been some talk about shortening races and things like that. And I got to tell you, I, I will say in this 10 or 15 years ago, I think the season is too long, and I think the races are too long. And my opinion is, again, because the Indy 500 kind of set the standard of 500 miles. Can man and machine go 500 miles? And that, that was all the way up until the 90s. You know, the cars continued to, you know, you had brake problems at Martinsville and in engine problems at different Michigan and different racetracks like that. My thought is, now, is keep the, keep the crown jewels where they are. The Daytona 500, Southern 500, Talladega, the Coke 600. But my thought has been for every other race, not 50 laps or 50 miles, 100 laps, 100 miles. Knock it off. Because I think that that's what makes the, the truck races and the Xfinity races, O'Reilly races better. Because look at this. I'm creating, I'm creating a line, 500 miles, 600 miles. So the longer you. That's more opportunity in there to get farther spread out. And as far as the season goes, I feel the same way. When I was growing up, there was 28 or 29 races, and there were, there were off weeks. And I felt just like I did yesterday. Lost it made me know it did it made me want a race. And it was the same way with, with the season. You know, when the races got over with Atlanta and in November, you didn't see another car on the racetrack until February. We didn't see another car on track. You guys were down there testing it, Daytona and Talladega and stuff like that, but we didn't see it. So when you, when you are missing something, it makes you yearn for it. It's like the NFL. People are dying for the NFL. To start now. And I think races the same way. You know, I know people have. Have given Kyle Larson a hard time over saying that he wanted the races to be shorter. But, you know, you race at Talladega for 188 layups. 178 of it's running in line. So what. I mean, the race starts when there's 10 laps to go.

It reminds me of those European bike races where they follow each other and then, like the last half lap, they pedal like hell.

[Dietz]

So it is.

Okay, That's a good topic. And we are going to talk about that. Hell, we'll start the show out like that. But first, Kenny Schrader and myself, we want to address Mike Davis. Mike Davis and Dale Jr. They own together. Dirty Mo Media and Mike Davis went on Kelly Earnhardt's show last week and announced that Herman Schrader will not be back next year. True. So Mike called me and said, listen, I want to talk about this, you know, just to let everybody know that, you know, all is good. So I'm gonna say my piece. And it's pretty simple. Herman Schrader has run its course. It was meant to go two years. When I look at all the analytics on the Kenny Wallace YouTube show, so I. I can see the analytics myself on the Kenny Wallace YouTube show. I don't see what's over there on Dirty Mo Media, but I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all you fans. The show is a success. It's not stopping because it's not good. It's just that I'm tired. Every Monday is a grind for me, and I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. You know, it is fun to get on here with Kenny, but, you know, we're. We're doing what we do. We're traveling the highways. I'm. I told Kim, let's wait a couple hours. No, no, I just. I've appreciated being on with you guys and, and getting to know you better, Herm. And, and getting to know Schrader and, you know, it's like I've said before, I'm. I'm a race fan, getting to live my dreams. This is it. Never been a stepping stone for me to get to the NFL or the NBA or anything else like that. So there's not a lot I know. But I do know nascar. I know racing. So it's. It's been fun and I've enjoyed it and look forward to the rest of the year.

All right, everybody, we addressed. Thank you so much. We will continue all the way through the end of the year, but just wanted to, since Mike Davis called me and said, hey, I want to talk about it with Kelly. And I said, okay. You know what? I. No, we. We just decided we've had enough, you know, that's all there is to it. But like I said, I see the analytics on the Kenny Wallace YouTube show, and we get great views. We really do. And, you know, maybe. Maybe one day I can show you all that stuff. Kenny, when I come out and buy you lunch, you know, I'll get my phone out and go, look at this, Schrader. Look how good the show was. So. Okay, well, we've got our notes, everybody. Let's start this show. There was no racing, no NASCAR cup racing, no Xfinity. O'Reilly. Excuse me. Hey, look at that. The same series, they go off the same. Go off the same record book as back when it was the Bush Series started? It's the same series. It's just got a different title sponsor.

And I tell that to people all the time, and they just want to argue with me. I'm like, it's. It's the same.

It's a different.

They need to bring the Bush series back.

[Herman Schrader]

I'm like, yes, that's it. Thank. Thank you so much. I'm like, what do you mean, bring the Bush series back? Why are people so stupid? I mean, they really are. They really are. It's like, it's. It's like Charlotte Motor Speedway and Lowe's Motor Speedway. Two complete different race tracks. I remember when we used to run Charlotte Motor Speedway. Yeah, but you're running low. Same track, no slows. Motor Speedway. I'm like, oh, my God. Okay, Kenny Schrader, does Kyle Larson have merit or the race is too long?

[Kenny Schrader]

This goes to that opinion thing, and everybody's got one. If he thinks they're too long, that's great. If someone else thinks they're too short, that's great. If someone else thinks they're right, that's great. I don't give a crap. It just, you know, they are what they are. NASCAR and tv and the feedback that NASCAR gets will dictate if our races get shortened or whatever. They have shortened a lot of races over the years from, like when I started, you know, rivers like Riverside used to be 500 miles. Can you imagine a 500 mile road race with drum brakes, with equipment?

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah. And remember, Kenny, the steel heads. And they would crack all the time. Yeah, Yeah.

[Kenny Schrader]

I mean, they've, you know, Dover and Rockingham, you know, Martinsville, still the same. Bristol still same. A lot of mar. You know, in the fuel crisis and whatever was it deets, late 70s, 74.

Yeah.

[Kenny Schrader]

When they started, like the Daytona race started on lap 21 or something, they took 10%. Yeah, that 10% of the. Sharpened. All the races. 10% just to show the world they were doing their part too, as far as conserving fuel. But, you know, they are what they. They are what they are. And luckily for nascar, whatever Larson thinks or we think or everybody else thinks, they'll listen to it, but they'll make the decision.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah, Dees, before I send it to you, I do want to say that I will never Forget Dale Earnhardt Jr. You know, he went to military school. And I think Junior is a little wise beyond his years. In other words, he's. I almost feel like Dale Jr. Is like 10 years ahead of his age. Like, you know, he's 50 going on 60. He says some things that are really good. And 10 years ago, he said, our season is too long in NASCAR. This is not just Kyle Larson. Dale Jr. Said this years ago. He said, look at the NFL. It leaves you wanting for more. So I remember that. And I'm like, oh, that's really good. We did used to only have 28 races. Go ahead, Kenny.

[Kenny Schrader]

Well, when I started, we had 28. Then they actually had the shootout year before I started. But in the Winston, the year has started. But I wanted more. 28 wasn't enough as a driver driving for not a big hit. Well, let's put this way. Driving for no salary, getting a percentage of what you won. I wanted to go to a cup race on an off weekend. I wanted 36, 38 cup weekends. I didn't want 28. I didn't want to go run my dirt car for 500 to win when I could be running the cup car at the time for 30,000 to win. So I wanted more. So it's just, you know, everyone's in a different boat.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah, indeed. So I throw it to you. Everybody has a different agenda. Kenny wanted to keep racing because he was racing for percentages. Dale Jr. Wants everybody to want it, you know, and if he give it too much to him, he felt like, you know, they get. They know they get to see it all the time. So as a fan, what's your perspective?

[Dietz]

Well, I wish Herman Schrader was seven days a week. I get paid for seven days a week.

[Herman Schrader]

Okay.

[Dietz]

That's the way. That's the way traders thinking. And I understand what he's thinking. But you know, don't forget when the season was 28 or 29 races, it still went from February to November. And I'm not one of those that thinks it should end when football season starts. I do think that the races should start it at. Not whenever you're at halftime in the middle of a football game that you've watched, you know, two quarters of. And I know why they're doing it to. To get the west coast audience and it leads into Sunday night Football. And I understand all of that stuff. But when I'm invested in watching a football game through 2/4 in race starts, 3 o' clock what am I going to do, quit watching the football game? No, I'll record the beginning of the race, watch the end of the football game, and then fast forward and get caught up on it. But the race is not the, the priority for me at that time. So I just, it, Dale Jr. Is exactly right. It's about leaving you wanting more. It's, it's like whenever I was dating my wife, I would go out with her and I'd want to see her

more and more and more.

[Dietz]

And now I live with her all the time and I'm sure she can hear me right now. And she's like, yeah, I wish we, I wish we saw each other once a week too.

[Herman Schrader]

Hey, that's really good.

[Kenny Schrader]

If the upper tier drivers now that make a lot of money, you know, their base salary, do you think, okay, it's 38 weekends. Yeah, I'd get rid of some weekends. Let's have 34 weekends. Hell, I'm still making the same salary. It's not per race. I'll take four more weekends off. You know, I mean, it's just, it's just everyone's different.

[Dietz]

And I'll tell you something. When they had, you know, for, for years and years, the cup series would take off in July or August, and this was when I was working on totally NASCAR in the early 2000. You had a truck in O'Reilly series weekend in Milwaukee and they did it at Gateway too, which was great because we worked on features, we said, we can go out there. And we did one with you, Kenny, in Milwaukee years ago when you were driving the Stacker 2 car. It gave us a chance to feature the, the O'Reilly series in the truck series. And, and I love that. And I thought this would have been a great weekend to do that with the, with the truck series and with the O'Reilly series. Listen, I know these guys are working hard on the schedules and they're doing a good job. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Steve o' Donnell and Ben Kennedy are the right people for the right time. And I've been critical of NASCAR for 25 years in their leadership is the right guys right now at the right time, and they'll get it figured out and, you know, we'll go from there. There's reasons that the seasons, you know, 38 weekends, counting the counting All Star races and the Clash and all, all of that kind of stuff, but I mean, if it was me, I'd shorten it up. But.

And I got a couple things to say here, I don't mess with Kenny Schrader and I don't mess with Rusty Wallace. You know why? Because they're my leaders. I've always looked up to them. They're the bosses. Okay? So it's the same thing. I don't. You know, NASCAR is the big boys. You're not going to tell them what to do. That's that just the way. Well, you know, it's funny. Years ago, and I'm not speaking for Kenny, but when we raced years ago in our day, we just went along with whatever. Nowadays, times have changed so much, people tell the people what to do. I'm like, oh, my. If we. If Schrader and I ever did that, it'd be like, oh, Bill Francis, he'd be smoking a cigarette. Boy, come to this holler. And we didn't want none of that back in our day. We just got in line and Kenny, I'm not speaking for you, but I know that's what we did. We just didn't jack with nascar. Now these people come out and they. Let me tell you what I'm like, oh, my God.

[Kenny Schrader]

I walked in the hall or 1910 something and senior was in there and just Senior and Bill Dale senior and Bill Jr. And that cigarette. And it's like, yep. Hey, do you think. Do you think we race too much? I said, no, sir. And it was same thing. Senior kind of looked at me. I said, I can go run another cup race or I can go run my dirt car for 500. I just soon go run another cup race, you know, But I remember that story. Yeah. It just. It is what it is. And when Dietz, when you said you're critical of nascar, you know, a lot of times that's because you love the sport and you wanted the best of the sport. Not just because you wanted to complain about stuff. You wanted the best that you thought it could be right.

[Dietz]

A thousand percent. And I think that could have been misunderstood. And that's never what I meant. No, but if they, you know, you are wanting to talk about when NASCAR hit its zenith and things like that, and I've got my. About that good leeway.

Once again, how many. I don't know we'd have. How many weekly show track. Weekly show NASCAR tracks are there anymore there less than there was at one time. I know one of our local Midwest tracks that's seriously considering becoming NASCAR again next year. Not again. Be them their first time because of guys being able to run for that national. National championship. He's trying to get another track, too. So it'd be interesting. But, you know, it's just. And I. I hate talking about this stuff because it's just. I like talking about facts. This is all opinions, but people don't want. People don't want to watch. They don't want anybody to be too successful. And NASCAR definitely was for a long time.

[Dietz]

Nope. And that's another problem with this business is anytime somebody finds success, you guys notice with short track series and racetracks and stuff, then everybody starts slamming them and everybody starts working against them, and people don't work together. And why it worked back in the 80s and 90s with Winston was because Winston was working with NASCAR. NASCAR was working with Winston, and they were working with the racetracks, and everybody was working together to achieve a common goal. And somewhere along the way, success became a bad thing.

[Herman Schrader]

I want to tell you a story about that, and then we'll move on, because we're getting ready for. The whole show is going to be about this if we keep going. Which is fine, because we were adamant about this. I asked NASCAR one time, I said, why don't we see any of the Winston brand at the traction anymore? Why is nascar, you know, I would go to Quincy Speedway, Quincy, Illinois, you know, and NASCAR told me this. Rjr, you know, the tobacco company, they got Winston. They paid for all that. NASCAR didn't pay a dime. Rjr, now, Kenny knows all this. We're just saying this for the fans. Rjr, Winston, they paid for all that signage at all those little dirt tracks. People would walk in, they go, oh, nascar, Winston, Hell, the Winston Cup Series. That meant nascar.

[Dietz]

Yeah.

[Herman Schrader]

And we lost that. So NASCAR told me, you know, that was them paying the money. And since then, NASCAR has not found a sponsor. And like Kenny says, you can go to Lima, Ohio, and that's a NASCAR sanctioned track. But we've lost that big sponsor, you know, because that's what NASCAR told me. And I sure miss those. Those scoreboards, you know, top. Top three, top five in rjr, pay for all those scoreboards, all those dirt tracks.

[Dietz]

And again, for the kids that don't understand, you could advertise cigarettes up until the late. Or up until the early 70s.

[Herman Schrader]

Good.

[Dietz]

And when they got rid of it to where you couldn't advertise cigarettes on television, then Winston and Marlboro and all of these folks said, well, let's go sponsor NASCAR and let's go sponsor golf and let's go sponsor tennis, and we can put our stuff all over these racetracks. And it'll be on TV again. And then you say, well, then why didn't Winston stick around? Because again, the rules changed to where you couldn't have that signage and stuff. So Winston didn't want to leave the sport school didn't want to leave the sport, but they couldn't advertise even on a race car on a billboard. So, so they, they had to leave. And until you, you know, there's been a lot of great companies that have come along and done a lot, but Winston, they, they were race fans. They were based in Winston salem and they, R.J. reynolds, they were race f.

[Herman Schrader]

Remember, remember the Indy cars when Roger Penske just painted them red and white, you know, and everybody knew that was Marlboro. Yeah. And I just thought I'd throw that in there. That's when the alcohol or the tobacco companies really, you know, got, got in trouble. Just couldn't advertise it anymore. So. Good point.

This is a new subject matter. Now take all this tongue in cheek and we're going to put it together. Carson osevar gets on YouTube, watches the Talladega 500 and says, oh my gosh, NASCAR was rocking in 2,200 50,000 people. This is Carson Hobsbar. Last week, Kenny, 250,000 people. The sound, the noise and the TV he said was better. Now that I don't agree with. But here's what he said. He said NASCAR right now is on a ventilator compared to year 2000. Now I want to say this, okay, that's what Carson said. It was just fine. But then I thought to myself, and this is the subject, was the height of NASCAR a freak moment? Was it sustainable? I remember magazines like Time coming out going and it said the rise of nascar.

Like Sports Illustrated.

Where did. What was it? Sports Illustrated?

Yeah. Oh, no, you were right about timing. It was a bunch. Yeah.

In Kenny, everybody said, oh, my God, where did NASCAR come from? So, Kitty, what are your. We're having fun. This is not an opinion. This is. Was it. Was it too much for us to ask for that sustainability forever Hilton, when

I asked him that question number of years ago, he said, oh, five, six, and seven or the big years? Oh, five, six, and seven were the big years. But once again, we're talking about one person's opinion that. Was he Even born in 2000? How old is he?

[Herman Schrader]

No, he's watching it on YouTube. That's how big that YouTube is.

Okay.

I don't know. He was not born in 2000.

Yeah, so we're, you know, we're talking about one person's opinion. So you guys just take this segment, and when we get to the next one, I got it back in, but

You know, it's like the 94 brickyard. It's 95. It's all times are different. NASCAR is doing. They're trying, trying, trying to bring things back. And we see that with attendance and TV numbers overall, we'll have our bad week every now and then. Things are better now.

You're the. You're the baseball guy. If I want to just decide. I don't know anything about baseball, but if I decide I want to go down St. Louis tonight, gonna be pretty easy for me, or whatever night they played, gonna be pretty easy for me to get a ticket and walk in.

Yep. You and I are both. You and I. Yeah, you and I are both on the same page. Yeah. Okay.

Yeah, but I don't want you to feel bad, and I know you don't. You're your own man. You don't gotta feel bad about just talking about, you know. Okay, let me just say this. I. I turned on Netflix because Kim and I was like, hey, let's watch something. We like documentaries. Who was the guy got Brain Fade? The guy that said it's a really big show and he had Elvis.

[Dietz]

Ed Sullivan.

[Herman Schrader]

Okay. The Ed Sullivan show. It lasted 27 years. And towards the end of the documentary, you know, those massive numbers that he was getting started ending not because his show got any worse, it's because he had more competition. Like, you know, all these other great TV shows. But Ed Sullivan was the first. He was the first. And then, you know, Archie Bunker come along and he started getting more competition. And I think that's where NASCAR is. You know, when NASCAR started, we had, in St. Louis, we had 2, 4, 5, 11, 30. Now there's so much competition. And that's, I'm just saying that with love. That's not derogatory. But I'll never forget that Ed Sullivan Show. He goes, we went 27 years, we weren't doing anything wrong, but I could tell we had run our course. So I just feel like the days of 250,000 people in the grandstands, it's kind of like the Ed Sullivan Show. Those days are over, but we're still rocking. And. Well, that's kind of my opinion.

[Kenny Schrader]

And I'm a, I'm a Carson Kosovar fan. I mean, I am. I mean, I think, I don't know him, but I think he, you know, I think he does a good job. And if I was his age and had the future that he has looking in front of, where if he keeps running like he is, it's going to make millions and millions and millions of dollars. First thing I do is tell everybody NASCARs aren't life support.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah, he's. I would say he reminds me of Rob Moroso. I knew Rob Moroso really good, and man, he was a great race car driver, but the strangest individual I've ever been around in my life. We go in a driver's meeting and this guy's so talented, and I'm like. And he just took a piece of black electrical tape and he cut it and he wore it like a mustache. The whole driver's meeting. And I'm like, what? But, you know, I don't know if he was wanting me, everybody to laugh, but, you know, and I look at Carson as extremely odd and different, but fun loving and a great guy. But we're all, David if used to say, you know, that's why Baskin Robbins got so many different flavor ice creams. Nobody likes all vanilla.

[Dietz]

Yeah, well, and I think you gotta, you gotta look at it too. Like, I remember my granddaddy telling me in the 60s about all these racetracks in South Carolina that were in these places that I never knew had race tracks. And I was like, God, I wish I could. I wish I Could go back to that, and I'd be going to races on Thursday and Friday and Saturday and Sunday. That was me. And I think Carson is looking at this and saying, holy cow, look at the crowds these guys raced in front of, you know, and I think that's. I think being on a ventilator's kind of strong. I think NASCAR is way better off right now than it was 10 years ago. It wasn't sustainable, just like you said, Herm. I mean, it. At some point, it was. It was going to end, and. And it did for various reasons. But I think it's kind of like you said, it had ran its course, and there became a lot of different things out there to pull your attention.

[Kenny Schrader]

Yeah.

[Herman Schrader]

Hey, one last thing on this subject. I want to say this, Kenny. You know, we ran Belleville, Illinois, Belclair, but we were talking, you know, time flies, and we talking about racetracks. We lost, you know, Lake Hill Speedway, St. Charles, Godfrey Granite, you know, and we were down to Peevley and Highland, two tracks in our area. But in our area, years ago, it was what I just said, Lake Hill, you know, Godfrey, St. Charles, you know, Charlie Bow. And we thought, oh, my God, right before our eyes, we were down to Peevly and Highland, two tracks. And when you put it in that perspective, it's like, holy moly. But that's the way life proceeded. And, you know, so many things came on. So we are happy that we got this racetrack back, and that's a whole nother show.

[Dietz]

And back then, you had race cars enough to sustain it. All of those race tracks had a bunch of cars and a bunch of fans, and at some point, it just. It gets to where there's not enough, and some go by the wayside.

[Herman Schrader]

And if it weren't for Kenny Schrader and Ray Marlowe, we'd have no racetracks. Your track, Kenny Peavely, was the life support for this local area. You bringing in so many superstars and, you know, NASCAR nights and getting everybody jacked up, you really kept it going around here.

[Kenny Schrader]

Well, but that's just, you know, you know, Belleville, Belclair, Belleville, Illinois, been closed for seven years or six years, whatever. They. They kept saying the exact amount of time last night or flow telecast,

and

[Kenny Schrader]

they came in and built a new facility at the same property, spent lots and lots of money. I don't know all the money deal, but it's from a state that's already broken, and it's Covid money. So, I mean, it's not like someone came in and invested a bunch of their own money and build a facility. But it was great to have it back and to be as nice operation as it is.

Okay, good stuff. Moving on. Everybody changing subjects. Boy, Kenny Schrader was right about this one. I want to ask him why, how he knew he was so right about this one. Okay. IHRA International Hot Rod Association. Basically a competitor to the nhra. There was a man named Daryl Cutter that come in, Cuddle, Daryl Cuddle. Okay? This man came in and bought an enormous amount of legendary racetracks up, drag strips, ovals. And I thought, everybody thought, what the hell's going on? And Kenny, you called bullshit on it right away. And so little by little, you know, he started hiring my friends. Woody, who used to work for jegs, he was the main man. And we did an interview with him, and Woody said, you'll see, you know, we're gonna do it. Two months later, he fires Woody. And now everything has fall to pieces. It's. It's not even a thing anymore. So Adam Stern is a quality reporter. Hardly anybody knows what he even looks like. But Adam Stern is like that, really hardcore. Everybody looks up to him. And he reports that this Darrell Cuttle comes out this interview a couple days ago and says, elon Musk owes me hundreds of millions of dollars. Basically, he's blaming Elon Musk for these data centers that aren't being built. So it, you know, we don't know. But. But was it true? Was he buying all these racetracks up to put data centers in? I don't know. But, Kenny, the fall of IHRA was before it even got going. How did you know this?

[Kenny Schrader]

Well, he. He bought IHRA from a friend of mine, you know, Larry Jeffers, that right up the road that builds the drag cars. It just won't work. It won't work what they're doing. And unfortunately, I don't think the. His downfall is going to be strictly with ihra, so we'll just. We'll just have to see. But, you know, here we got you and I together two years ago. We're in Rockingham for the spring race where. Yeah, they run the Xfinity. They ran Xfinity and Truck and arca was it Xfinity also Xfinity Truck, Narco. And they did it again this year. And the town is pumped up and the state's pumped up and county and city, and everybody's excited. And then it gets bought. And now who knows what's going to

[Herman Schrader]

happen because he owns it.

[Kenny Schrader]

He owns it. Now we know the only thing we know for sure. You don't know nothing about anybody else's deals. You know, the only thing we know for sure is there was a lot of press releases that says we bought. We don't know if he paid for the damn thing, but we bought a down payment. Yeah, I mean, we don't. We don't know, and I don't care. But I did think all the time, other than the few. The series, that he came in and got screwed up. You know, they. They started for the Shark tracks down in the Carolinas, what they were going to do. I was just very happy. I don't want him to screw up anything. I don't want this. And I would say screw up. I don't want the series downfall to mess up anything in our sport and our sports, just motorsports in general. But we dodged a bullet that he screwed up drag racing more than he did oval track racing.

[Dietz]

Yep. He's hurt drag racing bad.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah, good point. Yeah. The only thing he really messed up with us was Rockingham didn't really mess it up because Rockingham was shut down all those years and.

[Dietz]

But I'll tell you this. On the Rockingham thing, everybody's talked about getting cup races and stuff back there. And you guys know Bob Sergeant. So Track Enterprises goes in there, leases the racetrack, and has all this success with. With the O'Reilly series and with the Truck series. And I know with Bob Sargent's relationship with NASCAR that. That if they wanted to get a Cup race there, they could have worked something out. Ihra owning that racetrack was never in 5 million years gonna get a Cup race as long as they owned it. So, God willing, whether it's Bob Sargent or whether it's Marcus Smith or whether it's nascar, hopefully they can go in there and buy that racetrack, and then it stands the potential to get a cut race. But if one of those three things don't happen, it'll. It'll never get a cut race.

[Kenny Schrader]

I would say it could have got erased. I would think there would be a chance that it could have got a race without one of those people owning it with a bulletproof lease agreement with a company you were leasing it from that had a bulletproof reputation.

[Herman Schrader]

I understand, you know, today's economics, but in a strange way, with, you know, 70,000 people being a lot of people at a NASCAR race now, you know, you look at Wilkesboro, there's been talk how many people were there? You know, the last thing I heard was maybe 25. But Rockingham kind of fits into, you know, that being the new amount of people, you know, or smaller is better because it looks good. That's all I'm saying. All I'm saying is that, you know, we don't. The Daytona 500 is sold out at 1. God, it's a lot of people. 100,000 people. We could go back to Rockingham, it would be rocking it, 40,000 people, and it'd be like, you know, the old days. And that's all there being. And Kenny, I think you can correct me. I think Rockingham was always sold out with the back straightaway, not even 60,000. But it was big. It was bigger than big.

[Kenny Schrader]

Rockingham was a victim of our growth spurt.

[Herman Schrader]

Spurt, yeah.

[Kenny Schrader]

And the new facilities being built around the country.

[Herman Schrader]

Okay, so the IHRA guide his fall from grace. And this is per Adam Stern. This is not our opinion. That is the article that just came out, and he says that Elon Musk owes me hundreds of millions of dollars because of the data centers. And everybody knows out that data centers are considered a bad thing. Nobody wants them because it takes so much electricity and water to run them. And it's a taboo thing, but that's a whole nother subject. So data centers are being look down upon right now. Gotta heard something crazy. Like a data center is like one data center is like a electrifying 100,000 homes. That's insane. So whatever. Okay, respond right here. Okay, switching subjects in. This is a good one. Nascar. Adam Stern again. Adam Stern again says that, hey, NASCAR wants to go back to the city of Chicago and run that street course. This is per Adam Stern again. He's got some good stuff out. NASCAR wants to go back to the city of Chicago, but it's got to be subsidized. Subsidized because NASCAR has lost so much money at Chicago that they need somebody. They need the city of Chicago to give them money because it costs so much money to shut the city down and put up the fences and the barriers. But it's not. It's not dead yet. What is your. What is your guys thoughts? Do we really need. I mean, if it's losing so much money and we need. We need a bailout to run there. I'm not smart enough. What am I missing? Either one of you want to take this? I'm confused.

[Kenny Schrader]

Chicagoland look pretty damn good this year, so I don't.

[Herman Schrader]

That's.

[Kenny Schrader]

That's. Man, all I've ever worried about was going around the circle. You know, that. That's just way over my head. But I'm glad that we got the people in there that we got now because they'll either make it work or won't. But we'll be up in the Chicago area somewhere, it looks like.

[Dietz]

I agree with Trader about Chicago land. Chicago never did much for me, and I still. I don't. I don't think these cars need to be racing on road courses longer than about 2 1/2 or 2.6 miles. But I can tell you every body that I talk to talks about how big those crowds were at Road America in Wisconsin. So if you want to have a race in that part of the country and do it on a road course, I mean, people said for the weekend they were getting 100,000 people at road America for the cup races there. So to me, that. That seems like the place to go. I think Road America is too big. It seems like a better option to me.

[Herman Schrader]

Okay, so that's. That. That is way above our pay grade. Hey, let's run.

We like Chicago. We lose so much money now we need somebody to pay for us to come here. And I get it, but.

[Dietz]

It's strange, but it is sounding like they might go back to the naval base.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah.

More and more.

Yeah. Everybody. Everybody really liked that. Everybody really liked that. Maybe it's because it was on an island by itself. Because it was. It was on an island. Okay, last but not least, before we get to dirt racing and jokes, everybody, the NASCAR CEO, our friend Steve o', Donnell, came out with something just interesting to say. And that's what today's show is about. I'm gonna Read. I got it right here. Everybody look at this. If you're KENNY WALLACE, YouTube, if not everybody on Dirty Mo Media, I'm going to read what Steve O' Donnell said. He said, I think what gets lost a little bit there is the France family have been open to that in the past. Here's what, here's what he says. We have partners in Kansas City with a casino. We partner on different real estate areas. So certainly if you look at different areas, if we went and raced in California, could there be a potential partner that works with us around a track or real estate? Sure, there's ideals, but in terms of. Is NASCAR for sale by any means? No. But he points to Kansas City, that that casino must have helped them buy that area. You know, and now my brain's wandering. They sold California Speedway because it was said, it seems to be truth that the land was so damn valuable. They said, we'll shut this damn track down and help our bottom line out here. And they, they kept the sliver. We all see the pictures. All they've kept is just that. And it's, it's strange. They, they left everything up. The garage areas are there, the front stands are there, but they chop the corners off. But this is, this is Steve o' Donnell saying, listen, and he specifically says if you look at different areas, if we went and raced in California, could there be a potential partner that works with us around a track of real estate? He's giving us a message. He's given us a message right now. What is it?

[Kenny Schrader]

Who knows? Who knows? Remember what the France family did a number of years ago too, is they bought back all the ISC stock.

[Herman Schrader]

Oh, yeah.

[Kenny Schrader]

That wasn't cheap.

So good stuff. I don't know. All the. I mean, this is. There's, man, there's a lot to talk about it, but it's just. Yeah, and now we can do. But we talk about it. I know we can do about it. But there we talk about it.

Remember, too, I guess they, around Chicagoland, they put warehouses there, too. And that was when a lot of people were thinking that, that NASCAR would never go back to Chicagoland. But I'll tell you. I'll tell you something. The guy who owns Florence Motor Speedway, Steve Zacharias, he told me this people would go up to him and say, is the racetrack for sale? And he said, the racetrack is not for sale. But if you offer me enough money, it's for sale. And I think that's the way NASCAR is, is. I think if somebody comes along and Says, hey, we'll give you half a trillion dollars. They're. They're going to take it, I would think.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah. And our show about a month ago, right here on Herman Schrader, we talked about, you know, the cameras looked really different at Chicagoland because right outside the tunnel there was this huge warehouse, like right up against the pit gate. And we're like, okay, that used to not be here. That must have been a really good real estate deal. And I think that's where just my thoughts.

[Kenny Schrader]

Well, you think about some too, at some of these places. All right, we only got 40,000 people. Let's just throw numbers out. We only got 40 instead of 80. So today we lost the income of those other 40,000 people if, if they would come. So that doesn't make any difference if they would come. But that's a one day deal. We sold that land, you know, and we don't have to worry about parking those other 40,000 people. We only need this much less room. So I don't know that that's. That's.

[Dietz]

Whoa.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah, but wonderful point, Kenny. Makes a lot of sense.

[Kenny Schrader]

Yeah.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah. I call it right sizing. My, my cpa, my account, my buddy Ashok Chadgarh. I would say to him, oh, we're downsizing. And he says in that broken English, my friend, you make it sound so bad. You are right sizing. You are making it right. So that's what NASCAR is doing. Okay, if we don't got 250,000 people anymore, let's make a little money here. And we don't need parking for, you know. Yeah, I like what you say, Kenny. You're exactly right. I agree. So they're just cutting the fat. We don't need all this land. We don't use it. Good stuff.

Well, the time has come boys. Kenny, we got dirt racing and jokes left. What do you got for dirt racing?

[Kenny Schrader]

You know what? I didn't see everything this week. I did coming home from Saturday night's race in Springfield week figured out how to run my phone and dirt vision and get the sound on the truck radio which was big. So we listened to Cedar Lake Wisconsin where Turbo all a lot of late miles or that little late mile race Turbo won Thursday night. They got rained out Friday. I don't know if they made up Friday show Saturday or not. I think they made up part of it. I don't know what they did. But Saturday night for the hundred thousand had different people lead. Our buddy little buddy little Nick Hoffman was, was right there. And then along came Shepard and along came o' Neal, a bunch of them. I mean they were having a fantastic race. But the one that came and passed them all was little Pierce. So he picked up that hundred. And the neatest thing about it was seeing Bob there. Bob there in his pink shirt singling that. That made everything right. So, so happy that Bob was there. And then I know the world outlaw sprint cars were at port. I think Kofoid won the first night and maybe gravel the second night. And it was, it was big. So I wasn't, wasn't up on everything real good. But Cedar Lake and Port I think were the biggest stuff. Excuse me, Williams Grove. Not, not port. Williams Grove.

[Dietz]

Go ahead, explain to me how the, the lightsabers work and how you guys understand what the, what that means.

[Kenny Schrader]

Oh some associations. You're not use lit stuff anymore. We just got sticks. You know, if you're that far it's like hey you're, you're comfortable. You know, I mean he's there, he's that. But he's close to you that we're not allowed radios. Yeah. Not allowed radio. That's obviously a lot more some series you're not allowed to signal which would be great. I mean we don't. It's like having spotters. We don't friggin needle. But you know if you, if all of a sudden someone's up on you and you can see them out of corner your eye or you can hear them and you need to do something different but it just, just giving you signals about how close they are or maybe where they're running.

[Dietz]

I got A dirt update. Did you see Ken going at Weber Valley?

[Herman Schrader]

And, you know. Yes. And, you know, a year or two ago, I had Howard. I had him on Kenny Conversation, and they had reached out to me through a friend, and, oh, my God, that is the first funniest social media site. He just makes fun of dirt racing.

[Dietz]

Well, let me read the. Let me read the thing, and I'm going to try to read it with the misspellings and all of that.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[Dietz]

Congrats to NASCAR legend Kenny Wallace, the herniator with winning the single mom's feature last night after we approved his hardship papers for $100. Some other woman's was mad, but a wins, a win. Second place did get full custody of his trophy after the race.

[Herman Schrader]

Oh, and listen, everybody go to Weber W E A B. His name is Howard Weaver. That's his real name. And when we had him on Kenny Conversation, I said, where did you come up with this? You know, if you know anything about Saturday Night Live, like Michael Myers, he would say he come up with the church lady because when he went to church as a kid, all the ladies remember the big Aqua Net hairspray. They had the big hair perfectly. He said, when I was a kid, my mom couldn't spell. This is what Howard told me on Kenny Conversation said, mom couldn't spell, and we're from Kentucky. And he says, you know, he's well educated. And he said, oh, my God, this is just a show. And it gets. It's so funny.

[Dietz]

When he started doing the AI Videos, it had me doubling. I would just sit there watching them and laughing like a crazy person. And don't forget, last year, a news station picked that up and the lights went out and all the cars thought it was real.

[Herman Schrader]

A Chicago news station thought it was real. Now, here's what he's good at. He takes Amish people. And the owner of the racetrack is called. Now, this is all fictitious, everybody. It's all fake. His name is Jeb Yoder, and he's an Amish man, and he drives his Tesla. You know how much people don't believe in electricity? You know? Oh, he's so funny. Okay, well, this is perfect. Was our jokes.

[Dietz]

All right, Junkie jokes or junkie jokes today, which are not nearly as funny as Weber Valley. Okay? Two artists had an art contest. It ended in a draw. Okay.

[Herman Schrader]

Yeah, that's good.

[Dietz]

What do you call a pig that does karate?

[Herman Schrader]

I don't know.

[Dietz]

Freighter. I thought you'd get this one. A pork chop. All right, and here's the last one. Did you know there's a species of antelope capable of jumping higher than the average house? This is due to his powerful hind legs. And the average house cannot jump.

[Herman Schrader]

That was a little. Yeah. Good stuff, though.

Okay, Kim and I, as soon as we get done with Herman Schrader, Kim is packed, ready to go. I'm ready. We are headed up to Wisconsin dells because Kim's family is from Milwaukee. And they all go up to mirror Lake right there. One mile, two miles out of the dells. And we're going to go spend. We'll probably get up to around 5. Gonna pull a Kenny Schrader. That's only 300 miles. So 6 hours, 15 minutes. Be up there in a little bit. And then Thursday we're gonna leave and we're gonna go down around Chicago, around Gary, Indiana, back up to Kalamazoo. I'll be running a asphalt modified like I've been running at Berlin. And I'm gonna run Kalamazoo this Friday and Saturday.

[Dietz]

And you got somebody there waiting on you at Kalamazoo. You owe one, right? Or was that with the outlaw late model?

[Herman Schrader]

That was the outlaw late model, but I forgot about that. That was crazy. And I don't think that guy. That guy didn't mean to do that. He just was aggressive. You know, he was trying my outside and he knew, oh, I can't pass Kenny on the outside. So he went to get back in line and his left front grabbed my right rear is what happened, you know. And so, yeah, and this is a complete different car. This is an asphalt narrow tire modified. Okay, Kenny, what are you doing this weekend?

[Kenny Schrader]

I'm going to Kaukana, Wisconsin. Tuesday night. This comes out Wednesday, but Tuesday night we're gonna be the grand marshal up there. Wednesday and Thursday, Plymouth Speedway. Plymouth, Indiana Bentley, Warren Warren classic. And we're going to run a midget. Tony's running a midget there. Ryan Newman's run a midget. Plus, this is called national midget series. They've been having good crowds. Good, good car counts. Good crowds. Then come home. And the world outlaw sprint cars are at Federated outparts raceway this weekend for the Ironman. So we got a little bit to do.

[Herman Schrader]

Man. This is. This is awesome because this is. This is the typical. I mean, this is ultimate Kenny Schrader. From what you've taught me, man, deets. He just puddle jumping all around. All that fun. Good stuff, Kenny. Okay, well, we'll be. We'll be in the same area somewhat. I mean, I'll be starting over the Dells and I'm coming around and I'll be around you. I'll be north of you. I'll be in Kalamazoo. All right, Deets, anything?

I'll be at Lakeview this weekend. I didn't have any races in July. Was at Florence this past Saturday night. I'll be at late you this Saturday night. And one other thing to keep an eye on. I think Berlin's having their big super late model race this weekend. Is pays 40,000 win but I think it's during the week. Next week Cletus debut in his new pro late model division at Berlin and

he did talk about that. He said don't expect me to ever pay this much again. But we got to know we got a series and he knows how to promote so he's going to be good for late models. I don't doubt that one ounce because he knows what's up. Okay everybody, that's it.
