He's heartbroken. Lost control of the track surface, and he had his kid or somebody sticking this. This pole, and they got water underneath the turns, and. And he says, you know, this pole should not go in three feet. So the track was soft, and we bounced through it, and 23 cars started, seven finished. Oh, boy. But listen. Yeah. What? Forget about me for a minute. Yes. I'm in Cabo because, like, Kenny, you're the one that taught me I have a calendar. And I said, okay, June, July, August is all me. I'm going dirt racing. So basically, this is my last hurran. I'm going June. This June. Yeah. But I know you did some good stuff. I can't wait to hear what you did, Kenny.

[Kenny Schrader]

We. We wasn't real. Good week. We. We went to Moberly Tuesday night. We won there. We went to another track Friday night, and we made the decision to load up after the heat race, which the car owner was really mad with with the driver because he. The car owner, wanted to load up before the heat race.

[Kenny Wallace]

But anyway, hold on, everybody that don't understand the joke. Kenny Schrader is the driver.

[Kenny Schrader]

Yeah.

[Kenny Wallace]

And the owner.

[Kenny Schrader]

Yeah. I knew I need to load up before, but it just is just one of the things that, you know, the track got away from a little bit. And then Saturday had a good friend, Steve Sinclair, does a lot with K and K Insurance. He was getting inducted to the National Sprint Car hall of Fame. I think it was Eight people get inducted every year. And I went up there, and they had USAC sprint cars, so I got to watch them Saturday. And 410 wing sprint cars. Ryan Tims one Saturday night, and Ryan Tim, that was one of his three in a row that weekend. And then, son, the best part was yesterday morning. Got to eat breakfast with Johnny Rutherford for an hour.

Hero material.

[Kenny Schrader]

That was. That was pretty cool. Yeah.

[Kenny Wallace]

When I think of Johnny. When I think of Johnny Rutherford, I think of that. That Pennzoil Indy car and winning the Indy 500. What's he like to be around?

[Kenny Schrader]

Oh, he's. He's good. He's. Yeah. I. I don't think of Johnny. I think I'm waving goodbye to the crowd. When he was going out of the ballpark between turn one and two at Eldora. Non wing sprint car, both arms way, way up in the air. That's. That's where he met his wife in the hospital because he had no arm. Yeah. Yeah.

Now, was that before, do you think? That's during the time they demanded you guys or the arm restraints?

[Kenny Schrader]

Oh, didn't even have roll cages. Kenny. I don't know what it was, Charlie. Johnny Rutherford. Eldora had to be 6364 is right in there. I'm saying it might have been 65. I. It's right in there. But he. You. You'll find a picture of it. It'll be big. I mean, it. It's going out of the ball.

Charlie goes, oh, April 3rd, 1966.

66. Okay. But there's got to be a picture of it, because it was like. Yeah. And Betty Jane. He met Betty Jane in the hospital is what I was always told. But he looks. Johnny's great, and he's looks great. Was fun.

My favorite part is when you said, he's waving goodbye to everybody. Let me see.

And I want everybody to take this well, you know, when you're young and you see old people, you're like, oh, they're old. But when you get a little older, like in your 40s and 50s, when you see these old drivers, just think about them in their. In their glory days. They were badasses. Oh, and. And daredevils. My God, that picture is insane.

Yeah. I mean, I mean how that thing lands makes a difference. I mean that. How it lands makes a difference if he's here today or not.

And had to land on the tires.

Tony Stewart's been on fire. He's won two top fuel races. But Kenny and Charlie Brittney Force, she just tied Shirley Cha Cha. I love saying that. She won her 18th Top Fuel race and she ties the ladies. And the most historical lady racer, she ties Shirley Cha chamil Downey at 18 for the ladies. What else do you know, Kenny, about that?

Well, I know that it would meant a lot because it was also the. The is the New England is Epping. I think Epping, New Hampshire. I wrote by there one time stopped but it was side of her daddy's last. I thought I was gonna fall down first time. I mean, it was loud. Loud. And then that damn light turned green and I thought the world came to an end. Yeah, I mean, I. My knees went weak and I thought I was going to fall down. It is unbelievable. It's, you know, right. Right now. Boys, we have not talked about anything. We're supposed to yet, but so I've been to world Outlaw shows this year. I watched nhra watch, I see, I see Nashville yesterday, packed grandstands.

IndyCar sold out. NHRA, they were lined up forever to get into Epping, New Hampshire yesterday. World Outlawry. I mean, dude, we got a lot of our sport and I'm talking about that's just running motorized vehicles. You know, straight line, circles, whatever. It's not all that bad right now.

[Kenny Wallace]

You know, somebody will realize soon that I was right. I just did this deal last week. I said, okay, what happened across the world, because Memorial Day was a little more epic than normal. And now it's carrying on. Charlie, do you, do you, I mean, I mean, I know you're really in racing, but somebody a fan of other sports, do you see auto racing just period? I mean, I, I, I'm like Kenny, I just, for some reason, auto racing is up, up.

I feel like the last several years F1 has taken such a, a surge. And then NASCAR. I, I, I really do think the Amazon prime, the, the TV coverage is fantastic. The Earnhardt documentary, obviously Indy 500 was last week. That's the peak of everything for, for IndyCar. And then NHRA is one of those sports where obviously it's very popular, a little more niche, but when you have a huge name like Tony Stewart bringing more eyeballs to that, I, I do feel like you have all those series certainly trending higher than I can think in a long time.

So what I'm hearing from him, Kenny, is that something I forget. You, you for nascar, you got, and I'm going to add, you got Cletus McFarlane, you got prime, which brings in a younger demographic, you know, the kids with the apps. Yeah, yeah. I mean, the racing's good and we're going to get to Nashville. It was, it was a wild one.

Cletus has just run Arcus so far though.

Yours is pretty trick. You weren't driving a Silverado all week. My motorcycle was breaking down on the way up to try, so I. No, I took a new little bike I got and it was, it was giving me reason to turn around and go back and get a pickup because I didn't, I didn't want to be broke down on Highway 63 and Iowa.

You will be proud of me. I called Stephen Wallace up and I said, stephen, it's time for me to have my two wheeler back home in St. Louis. Go. You know, we got Kim's trike. I call it Kim's because she's the one that wanted it. I call it the Kimberly Marie. And I said, damn it, I want to ride. So I said, stephen, I said, you got that guy that delivers bikes? So Rusty and Steven, they share this delivery guy with these other motorcycle builders. So this guy is always on the road. So they dropped my. My. My bike off, and I love it. I've, you know, go to lunch here and there, but I'll have to do something with you this summer on a Tuesday if we're not racing. Okay, everybody.

And we. It could be the Cletus McFarlane, it could be the Dale Jr. You know, the Earnhardt, that. Whatever. Whatever. It was sold out. And Ryan Blaney wins. And, Kenny, anytime Ryan Blaney wins, you got to think of his dad, because it's such a great racing family.

Oh, yeah. I mean, Dave. Dave never got the. It just didn't work out right in the cup deal. But Dave Blaney is one of the most talented guys you know there is. I mean, he won an outlaw show, like, two years ago.

Yeah.

You know, and he was outlaw champion. He was a USC silver crown champion. And. And he had. He was in position and something always happened to win cup races, and he was just. He just fantastic fan. He was always on top of my list, and he was. He's great.

And Ryan is one of those kids that is so smooth. For example, I don't know if he really smokes a cigar, but it was funny. And Victor Laney fired up a stogie, you know, just old school, you know, like. Like, old man sitting around, you know, an Italian bar with a wine, and it's like he's firing up a cigar, man. So Ryan Blaney fires up a cigar. I don't know when he did it, but he did it. And he's just a cool character. Ryan is. And how old is Ryan now, Charlie? Is he 33, maybe.

Okay. So little stat that's worthy of talking about. The captain. He did not win the Indianapolis 500 this year. Roger Penske did not win the Indianapolis 500 this year, but he's got it going on. All Penske cars have won a cup race. You got Blaney, Joey Logano, Austin Cindric, and we're including Josh Berry in there. That is the Wood Brothers car, but it is in the Penske shop. Wow. I mean, you know, just a little something there. Kenny and Charlie, the captain's got to feel comfortable this it, you know, if something surprising doesn't happen there, you know, they're ready to go for the playoffs and now they're just going to fine tune their craft and just win more races.

When you get four teams and it's mid season and all four of them have won, wow, that's pretty big. Potentially they could be the four in the playoffs.

Oh, my God. Wouldn't that be crazy? Has that ever happened? Oh, my God.

Let's just leave this that wonderful week that we saw, which was Xfinity trucks, arca. Let's leave it that way. Steve o' Donnell said, we'll call a handful of our cup guys and we'll have the cup guys run and we'll sell it out. It'll look good. What do you think of that? Kenny o' Donnell saying, it can.

It can stay just like that for a while. Let's see where everything goes.

Yeah. So somebody's gonna buy it. I'm gonna go out on the ledge and say nascar is going to make it happen. That's all I'm gonna say. And you and I. I'm not gonna say anything, but you and I sat in the offices downtown Rockingham, and I don't think they're going to let this go. It's too good for the city. I would be shocked. But, I mean, the guy owns it still. It doesn't mean. Doesn't mean it's going to fall apart. It just means it's for sale. Yeah, that was key right there. He wants to sell it. Doesn't mean it's got to be sold.

Yeah, but it wasn't on the docket here. And it's like, oh, that's a big one. Yeah, Kenny. We had some good, good racing there. We had some good wrecking at Nashville. We're on Nashville, everybody. They wrecked, they raced. Let's go to the racing first. There was a part in this race where it's like, how can this concrete surface race this good? We had Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, William Byron putting on a classic they couldn't. You know, Hamlin hung on the outside hard. I just didn't know, you know, I had people just hate me when I talked about the next gen car running, you know, running, running good. But they didn't, you know, not every race can be a barn burner. But here we go again. Three weeks in a row, Kenny, where this next gen runs side by side. I mean, I'm just not convinced that this car's got to be destroyed. The racing.

[Kenny Schrader]

They'Re going to keep tweaking on it. We've been tweaking on these cars, you know, since NASCAR started, and they're going to continue to tweak on them. And they just, you know, 90% of the time changes they make are far the better. And when make one that doesn't do have the results you want is back up and change it again later. But it doesn't make any difference what the car is. These guys are going to put on a good show regardless. But they're obviously doing it in a lot of different type of facilities.

[Kenny Wallace]

And that's it right there, what you just said, you know, I mean, just every week we're going to talk about what we see, everybody. And I mean, you know, this car don't run good on their short tracks. Well, what do you call North Wilkesboro? I mean, that was one for the ages. And there's all the drivers yelling in the TV camera at North Wilkesboro. Bring Wilkesboro back. Then you go to Charlotte, and it's a barn burner. Chastain does a slide job on Byron for the win with six to go. They're up at the other on the wall. That was the. By the way, Charlie and Kenny, what you Know, it's like the ratings 2point something million on the prime app. But Gluck does his poll. 30, 40,000 people. It was one of those 90, 10 races, 90% of the people. Kenny Schrader said Charlotte was awesome. It's fun to see him on the wall, wasn't it? It's kind of like Eldora.

Yeah. Yeah. Very, very good. You know, let's think about something, too. Yeah. What's wrong today?

I like it. It's bringing great content.

Okay, so we basically have a. Basically have a spec car.

Which cost a stupid amount of money, but it's, it's. When you compare it to re. To building a new car and making changes every week trying to make your car better than everybody else's. You know, maybe it's not that much money. Then we go to Indianapolis where they have went to spec cars now.

Yeah. And look at, look at those races where all these cars are on the same straightaway fighting for a win. There's something to be said for this.

Well, I want to add to, I want to respond to what you just said, Kenny. And the articles are out there and they've admitted it. The car owners, you know, as soon, you know, listen, the fans are awesome, but we all need to be educated. We're all dumb until we don't know. The car owners went to NASCAR and the car owner said, save us. We're building new cars every weekend. And I said, no way. I go to Timmy Wallace, my cousin that work works at Penske, and they approve me going back in there, you know, obviously my brother started it, run it, but they approved me, you know, two years ago back going to Penske, Kenny. It was crazy. And they couldn't keep it up. So the car owners went to NASCAR and said, we want a new car. And that's what they all agreed on. So the car owners wanted that, you know.

Well, they're getting good results right now.

But he's, you know, and he's spire team has made leaps and bounds. Yeah, but it's still not, you know, Hendrik or Penske or. Anyway, he shows just a tremendous amount of talent.

You said it beautifully. And I want to add on what I like about Carson is on his own during his off cup weekend. He takes his pickup truck that is painted like Dale Earnhardt Senior's black number three GM Goodrich Chevrolet. He reminds me a little bit of you, Kenny, where he. He likes vehicles. So he drives his pickup truck that is fully painted black number three GM Goodrun shirt, goes to Rockingham, goes to the infield, parks it. The TV cameras have fun with it. Not just that, but on Friday night at Nashville, everybody, Carson is in the grandstands with this Dale Earnhardt Jr. Budweiser T shirt. He's showing respect. Carson Hosovar is showing respect with throwback. He's different. He's different, and yet he goes out there and runs second in the cup race. He doesn't have to Be all serious. You know, you. And I love Jeff Gordon, but Jeff could have had a little bit more fun. And Jeff likes everybody. And Henrik tidied up, you know, Jeff Gordon. All our drivers will be perfect. Here's Carson over here just living life and run second. I'm just saying. I like that. I like that. Now, as far as him running into everybody, I'm sure he'll get over that out.

As a fan and a broadcaster and a fan of storylines, I know he's. He's not as old as Chastain was about three years ago, but I get Ross Chastain about three years ago vibes. Right. He was pissing everybody off, but he was fast. And then he kind of dialed it back. I was also disappointed when Ross Chastain dialed it back, though, after Rick Hendrick called him out a couple years ago. So I think Carson Hosar is great.

For business, so I'm gonna. I'm gonna be nice here. But our general manager, Worldwide Technology Raceway Chris Blair, he's basically the promoter, and he said, I don't know why they dialed Ross Chastain back in. He's good for business. He says it. Ticket sales are noticeably. When those race fans think a driver is going to wreck people, they buy tickets. It's crazy. They really do. You know, you think they wouldn't, but it's. It's like, I'm gonna go to that race, watch that kid wreck everybody. It's hilarious when you just say it, but it's. It's, like, real, you know, it really is real.

Carson needs to worry about doing what's best for Carson.

Yeah, I think we did a good job there, everybody. So the cup race was sold out. It looks sold out. Zoom in on all the pictures, everybody. I guess I find myself defending the rise, you know, Like, Kenny, you said it best. I love your sound bite over the last couple months. You talk about. And I have no idea why Justin chose Kenny Conversation, but we had, you know, dad, Mike Allgar and Justin Allgar, and it was wonderful. It was really good. But we're rolling, and we get about halfway through Kenny Conversation, and. And I. I throw dad a bone. I said, okay, Dad. I said, you want Justin to you? You know, Gator, Justin Augar's dad calls him up. He goes, how many starts you got? I tell him. He goes, well, I want my boy to out have more starts than you. And I said, that'd be awesome. Well, I'll come to the track. I'll congratulate him. And Justin drops the bombshell. He says, well, it's not gonna happen. I'm like, what are you talking about? So last week on Kenny Conversation, Justin Augart says, I'm going back home. I'm going to be 40 years old next year. And old DNM Speed Shop, which is now called Hoosier Tire Midwest. Yeah, it's time for me to go home. And, you know, Gator's health's okay. But listen, Kenny, that's heartfelt. I mean, that's heartfelt.

I talked to him a couple years ago, and he knew a lot more about what was going on there than I thought. Thought he would have, you know, And I mean, he was on top of it. I just think it's. I just think it's neat. You know, he's had a great, great career, won a lot of races. He's got championship under his belt, and he's got a chance for two more this year and next year. And I mean, I love seeing him go home. I've been a huge fan of his mom and dad forever. I remember before Justin.

I just want to say for the people saying, oh, my God, he's winning. Winning in the Xfinity series is a good living. It's not. You don't retire. So he goes back home. Yeah. So Justin Augar, if he chooses to and he says he is it, it is the right decision because, I mean, I'm sure he'll do just as good going home and with his championships and wins, it's a. It's really a feelgood story and that. And he'll probably go dirt racing. We'll. We'll see him more now than we ever did. But they know that.

They said that Saturday night he convincingly won.

Oh, yeah. He was on a late rate restart. He. He started like second row, had new tires and got underneath them. I mean, he had. He had a fight for it, but he cleared him and went on. It was good. Yeah, it was good, but he was. He was fast. That's his second. That was Justin Augar's second win at Nashville and in victory lane. Now the kids are growed up. Now the kids are growed up. Willow and Harper. And he said, I got two guitars now the kids won't fight over. They each get a guitar. So it's storybook ending.

Kenny, we won the first race they ever had at Nashville, but it was. It was an ARCA race, so I don't.

The one Covid. I guarantee it had something to do with it. Yeah. Okay, everybody. So, Justin Allgaier, a feel good story. Kenny Schrader gave you some great insight. I think I explained, you know, I mean, if you're in the xfinity series, you got to bring sponsorship. I guess all the stars are aligning. Brant's been really good. There's no telling what they're gonna do. But we know that he's going to race again next year. And then little Gator says, you know, it'll be time, so we'll see if it really happens. But he says it is in the truck. The truck race. I bring the truck race up because it just looks so good on tv. You had Carson Hosar in the grandstands with the Dale Jr shirt on. The headline of the article is YouTube star Cletus McFarland could drive for prospective Ram NASCAR Truck Series team and I'll just read the first sentence here says YouTube star and ARCA driver Cletus McFarlane could get involved with the prospective new NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team from Stellantis. Their Ram Brand should the automaker complete talks to enter the sport, according to Ford, people familiar with the matter and a document seen by the Sports Business Journal. So they're in talks.

First thing I'd say is, everybody, you know, remember Dodge left the sport so they'd re. Enter the sport. What do you think, Kenny?

More power to him if he can pull it off. You know, he's got what, three ARCA starts? Yeah, three ARCA starts. But you know what? More power to him. It's great. And, you know, I'm sure Biff will be there somewhere. It looks like he's, you know, they become whatever kind of relationship, friendship they have, and Greg can definitely steer him in the right direction if he can put some kind of a factory program together. Now, that won't. I hardly believe that would be Dodge's only truck. You know, surely there'd be a couple's. Couple more teams out there. But if Cletus can do that, that's, that's just a plus for everybody.

I'm sitting here thinking right now that when Cletus came to Daytona for the ARA racing, it seemed like it caught NASCAR off guard. And Cletus, he didn't know all the rules real good. And he. Cletus just tapes a camera on the inside of his ARCA card and, And NASCAR finds out about it and they find him, and now they're saying, cletus, will you please put a. We'll give you a camera.

Yeah, no, it's just a good. It'd be good for everybody.

Yeah. And. And so there you go, everybody. You know, for some of you purists that say, where's Dodge at? Well, they left. And I also want to say this. That tells you NASCAR's on the right trajectory because, you know, I mean, obviously this story is true because Adam Stern does not report falsehood. He's had to see. They've seen documentation. They're reading. Oh, they've seen it. So if Dodge wants back in the sport, something good must be happening there. And with all this TV contract and Charlie, you said it was like seven, eight billion dollars. I think we're good for the next six years, you know, so that, that's a feel good story. What else, Charlie, Anything else there? What's your take on Cletus? You're. You're. You managed the Kenny Wallace YouTube show. What? That YouTube's strong, ain't it?

Oh, yeah. And I did a live stream earlier today as we record on Monday. So I, I just looked it up. Cletus has 4.4 million YouTube subscribers. NASCAR itself has 1.5 million. So I'm not, I'm not saying, I'm not saying Cletus is, is bigger than NASCAR because NASCAR is a billion dollar industry. But on YouTube, and from a media standpoint, when you're talking about whether it's Facebook, he's big on TikTok. He's huge on, on YouTube. I mean, this dude is a superstar. He's a sensation. And that article, they kind of called him the Jake Paul of racing. Now, to me, Jake Paul's a jerk and Cletus isn't. But I don't think that's what they meant. They meant more of like, here's a dude, Jake Paul, what he did to boxing. You know, you can make the case that Jake Paul is the biggest boxer and he's not even really a boxer. And I think that's the comparison. That Cletus could be the most famous NASCAR driver who's not really a Cup guy. Right. He's just a guy who loves racing. But he's that popular.

People love him.

Yeah, but if you go, you know, okay, I'm talking about. I don't know what I'm talking about, but it's okay. I feel confident. If you go just knocking on doors, I forget, forget YouTube followers. That's already a certain group. If you're, you know, in there, but you go knock on our doors, more people will know NASCAR than Cletus.

But YouTube followers, obviously he has a lot more.

You know what this reminds me of, guys? It reminds me when I really didn't understand drifting. And all of a sudden I talked to Toyota and then Yokohama tires like drifting. Okay. I guess what I'm saying in life, it's not just all about us, but you know, when you start. Yeah, damn it, I got that from Rusty. It's all about me, damn it. But when you, when you marry everybody together, you know when you say, okay, give me your 4 million YouTube followers. But my point is, is in the sport of drifting, where they slide their cars sideways, that is huge. And I mean bigger than big. And I didn't know how big it was. You know when we come up for air and go, oh, there's more than that. There's more than nascar. If you can get those other sports involved. Now we're, now we're growing leaps and bounds. We're not, we're not doing incremental gains now. We're going millions of people more.

We just want them all doing good.

Hunziker gets by him. But Turbo, you know, they split their qualifying races. Turbo won one Friday night, Pierce won the other one. So it was. I mean, just. I know that High Limits was at Butler, Michigan. Butler Speedway in Michigan, Saturday night. I think it was. Get my nights mixed up.

I think they bragged on it. They said, I've been there. And I thought the place was kind of dark and this and that, but they got new owners. New owners.

And I've heard they've made substantial improvements and it's a lot better.

Brian Claussen's dad, he was on social media and said, man, this place is awesome. It's got that banking to it. You know, We've both been there, but.

There's too much. You can't keep up with it all.
