Herman Schrader
Herman Schrader on the Dirty Mo Media platform from the Middle of America in St. Louis, Missouri starts right now. The following is a production of Dirty Mo Media. I'm looking at Kenny Schrader right now.
Kenny Schrader
He's a drinker on the show. I mean, yeah.
Herman Schrader
How in the world did we agree to do a podcast?
Kenny Schrader
I like spending time with you.
Herman Schrader
That makes me happy.
Kenny Schrader
Well, it's all about making you happy.
Herman Schrader
We're always honest.
Kenny Schrader
We don't know that we're not in trouble already, you know, and sometimes truthful. What makes you think you're not a little different?
Herman Schrader
You're weird, too. Herman Schrader, everyone that is on the Dirty Mo podcast, you don't see this, but Kenny Schrader is in his race shop now. And I really like your background. Are we happy, Kenny?
Kenny Schrader
Yes, we're happy. It's Monday, Mark, and Monday morning we're home from the races. Or I suppose say, it's Wednesday morning. Anyway, we're home from the races. We had a good weekend and had a little truck failure on the way back, but we were able to overcome that. It was quite a big delay though. And out there getting everything ready to go again this weekend.
Herman Schrader
Okay, first of all, you are in your office because I. I've been out there a lot. I like the orange. The Federated Auto Parts shows up really good. You know, I think I know you as good as anybody. You love your race shop. That is your happy place, isn't it?
Kenny Schrader
The race shop is my happy place.
Herman Schrader
Or.
Kenny Schrader
Or in the race car or the house. You know it. No. You know, one of those places. I. I like being Garn all the time. I Like racing but I really like being back here too. So kind of, kind of screw myself with my profession.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Okay everyone, we are going to change it up this week. We think that our jokes are so bad that we moved. We moved them to the back of the show. Do you like that idea Kenny?
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, we've had some, you know, kind of funny jokes but yeah.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Okay, we are going to start right away with what we both did over the weekend. And Kenny, what did you do over the weekend?
Kenny Schrader
Well, we went racing to Duck River Raceway park and I thought it was weill Tennessee. I don't know exactly where it is but it's just right south of Nashville just a little bit. And went down there Friday night, made a few practice laps and Saturday we ran the race and we were able to. We were able to wind up getting there first. We won the race and headed home. Thought we'd be home about 1:00 in the evening and a little truck failure. Had to spend the night south at or this side of Paducah and we got her in yesterday afternoon. So it was a good weekend.
Herman Schrader
So JJ Yaley was on Facebook. Somebody did a really good video of you on the last couple laps and I agree with JJ Yaley that is a neat looking racetracks. Kind of got. It's kind of got, you know that, that your racetrack look I 55 Federated. Tell me did you like the design that Duck River?
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, it's second time we've been there. It's. It's a nice little place. They did a good job. They had a big super late mile race I think paid 6,000 to win or something daytime show and you could run from the bottom to the top. All they did was miss the track. One time around top they had a great service. It's surface. It's kind of like a small volunteer speedway in Bulls Gap. It's kind of like a small one of those. But yeah, it's. It was really a fun track. Had a great surface.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, I gotta love that red clay. They kind of do the same thing down there at Talladega. They just never rework it, do they?
Kenny Schrader
It just love that red clay every once in a while. Yeah, not all the time.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Okay, so we gotta, we gotta go into this truck a little bit. What did we find wrong with the truck?
Kenny Schrader
Oh it just. We stopped to get fuel and had that burnt rubber smell. So we started looking at tires and then we opened up the hood and it was a serpentine belt and one of the idler pulley had locked up and we were able to get it. Had some really good help from Dylan Thompson and his guys there Sunday morning and got us to the parts store and we were. Joey got her fixed up and we were back on the road.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, that's pretty common, those serpentine belts. Okay, so we know what you did this weekend. I was the honey do list. You would have hated my life.
Kenny Schrader
I wouldn't have been there, Kenny. I don't do that. I don't do the. If the honeydew list revolves around the shop I'm in, but I don't do house.
Herman Schrader
You would have said. You would have told and hire somebody. Okay, I cleaned the dryer vent out. It's like the dryer wasn't drying the clothes very good. So this is funny. I got this, you know those. Those.
Kenny Schrader
I don't know about that either, but go ahead.
Herman Schrader
Well, I do laundry too, so. So anyway, the dryer. My dryer is not drying really good. I'm like, what the hell? So I go up to the race shop. Of course, we always use racing tools. And I get the blower out, you know, those blowers. And I take the dryer out from the wall. I said, kim, go outside. Don't put your face there. But. But let me know. So I stick this. I stick this green machine blower. Man, it blows really good. I stick that thing in there. Oh, and you. And go around.
Kenny Schrader
How did it go? Oh, thought that's what you said.
Herman Schrader
That's what he does to me, everybody. That's what he. So the dryer rent was not clogged up. Come to find out, my dumb ass had the dryer on the wrong settings. Somehow it changed. So I got the. We do know the dryer vent is very clean, so. Okay, that's a good thing. I watched an Elvis special on Netflix. Well, I tell you what, when I get involved in those documentaries, they. Are they getting sentimental? Elvis was roughed up. That damn. That guy that ran his career, he just. He just ran Elvis ragged at the Colonel or something.
Kenny Schrader
They called him the Colonel. I saw one. The movie.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, the Colonel. He found Elvis and. Yes, he did. And make Elvis. However, once Elvis got going, Elvis just wanted to. He was a rock and roller. He just wanted to play music. And the Colonel just had him doing things he didn't really want to do. And it's kind of sad where Elvis, you think he's the man, but he was really being led around by the Colonel once he got halfway into his career. And then Priscilla Presley was, you know, being interviewed during it so it was up to date. Let me think. What else? My youngest one, Brittany. Brittany, Kenny. As you know, all three of my kids have lived at the party house here at the shop, right?
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Brooke lived there. Then she met her husband. Brandy lived there. And Brittany.
Kenny Schrader
Finally, I tried to live there because I wouldn't have to build a house because that would have been a great place to live.
Herman Schrader
One thing I will always remember is my best friend in life. Kenny said, herman, I sure would like to be part of your family. Yeah, Yeah. I take care of people. So Brittany and Brody moved out, but Brody still works in the shop. He has Fusion carts. Brody builds the outlaw carts right here right next to me, working on my race car. But they've moved, and that's exciting. Oh, you're gonna like this one. You know the camper top that you got me through?
Kenny Schrader
Cover top? Yep.
Herman Schrader
Unicover. So I finally. I put it on the truck. I backed it into the shed, and I made these chains, and I welded hooks on the chains, and. Mean Brody just barely lifted up, and now it's hanging from the roof.
Kenny Schrader
So you got a crank on it? You crank it up?
Herman Schrader
Well, not yet. We wanted to, but. But your. Your friends at Unicover would be very proud of me right now. If we go to put it on, we both got to kind of just lift one end at a time.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, but I mean, where you could crank it up out of the way after you get it off Truck.
Herman Schrader
Yes, yes. We need to work on that. We don't have a crank on it yet, but that is in the future, so. All right. I think. I think we covered what we did.
Kenny Schrader
Had a big weekend, didn't we? Obviously.
Herman Schrader
Well, I was. You're. You're a real man.
Kenny Schrader
No, no, no.
Progressive
We just.
Kenny Schrader
We just. We had different missions.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Okay. Nascar, Hot Topics, and surprisingly, Kenny, way more than I ever dreamed of. So I'm gonna set you up on a lot of these. I know. You know, but let's start with the NASCAR awards ceremony down there in Charlotte. It's. The awards ceremony is now back in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, it's been. I don't. I mean, I never went to one in. In Charlotte. When I. When I started, they were in New York, so I missed the Vegas deal, the Nashville deal, and all that. They might have been in Charlotte there one time after I quit, but I think it's neat being back in Charlotte.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. I don't know really where it was in Charlotte. Hopefully, it was at the hall of Fame. I don't know if it was or not, but it would make sense being at the NASCAR hall of Fame. I don't know about you. I just. I mean, I know, you know, I hear all the New York is dangerous, but I really enjoyed our time in New York at the Waldorf Astoria. Didn't you? Or not.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, it was fun, but.
Herman Schrader
I. I.
Kenny Schrader
Didn'T care that it was in New York. You get around that group.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
And you're not at the racetrack. I mean, that's what, you know, made it fun. It wasn't because of where it was at. I guess there was some neat things to do that people went and did up there, but, you know, we just. A bunch of us went out to eat every year on Thursday night, whatever. And, you know, then the awards ceremony was Friday, I think, and you get home Saturday. But New York was fun.
Herman Schrader
I want to gloss over something that Mike Hton chewed my ass out about. You know, I did. I didn't run very good in the cup series, and I. I don't know. I finished 20th into points, and I didn't go. And Mike Hton said, why were you not at the banquet, Kenny Wallace? And I said, because I didn't do good. And he says, herman, the banquet is a celebration of our year, not. Not just all the champion. So he made me look at the banquet a different way than I always did. What. What do you think of Helton's thought there, that, you know, we're there to celebrate the year? I'm like, ah, what did you think?
Kenny Schrader
Did. Did Alan win in 92? I think Alan won championship in 92. Yeah.
Herman Schrader
That's a good. Good memory, because I believe so.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. I didn't go to the banquet in 92 because I went to Snowball Derby. And you know how we used to have the. Not formal, but the. The big party on Thursday nights?
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
A bunch of people. Yeah. Alan called me on Thursday night and I was in the motorhome down Pensacola, and I felt bad that I. I didn't go because. Should have been there. But that Snowball Derby, I wasn't going across stage. I didn't worry about it. But, you know, I saw Kyle Busch didn't go this year.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
But he was at Vegas for the Formula one race. Was pretty hard to do both those, so I don't know. It's.
Herman Schrader
To each his own.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. To each his own. Top 10 used to have to go.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
I don't know if they still do or not, but NASCAR does a heck of a job with that. With that banquet. I mean, they Put a lot into it.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, they. They. I agree with that. Now that I'm older, you know, and. And after getting my ass chewing by Mike Hilton, they. You're right. You said it right. They put a lot of effort into it. They want everybody to show up, celebrate. But also, on the race car driver end, it's very hard to go celebrate somebody that just kicked your ass. You know, hey, you beat my ass. Yay. You know. Yeah, you're. You're better than me. You son of a. Yeah. Okay, so a couple things on the award ceremony that I want to talk about. I think it's kind of heartfelt. Greg Biffle. Greg Biffle. We know all his work he did in the mountains with the, you know, the tornadoes and wiping out Chimney Rock. Greg Biffle was awarded the Myers Brother Award. Somebody said, well, the award says that it's got to be about stock car racing. I said, listen, Greg Bivel is as NASCAR as it gets. Your thoughts on Biffle and the Myers Brother Award?
Kenny Schrader
Very deserving. You know, Greg went above and beyond. You know, I mean, he. He had the opportunity to do it because it was helicopter and stuff, and he. He jumped right in and. And helped. Helped a lot of people. So, I mean, that's just. It doesn't have to be nothing about the racing. And I don't. I don't think it was very deserving.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, that's all there is to it. Everybody. We. We don't got to get. He. He is a NASCAR guy. He's still involved in nascar. I've seen Biff, some of the alumni stuff. He was at Darlington, so he did good for the sport. I want to gloss over somebody I know. You don't know David Wilson, but David Wilson won the Bill France Award. Kenny, David Wilson has been with Toyota 30 years. He, you know, did a lot for NASCAR, but he's retiring, so. David Wilson, I know him very well. You know, Toyota sponsored me for seven years. David Wilson won the Bill France Award for Excellence. Okay, then the last one I want to talk about. I think. I think we might have a little bit.
Kenny Schrader
Let me just say one thing here. When Toyota came in.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
I mean, what a. What a huge undertaking that is. And they did. They did everything right. Or in my opinion, they sure did everything right. They come in and they. It's like, they didn't try to change our sport. This is the way it works. They came in and. And went by the rules that we. That we had, and they. They continue to be a great addition. And this is my opinion, but A great addition to, to the NASCAR family.
Herman Schrader
Hey, listen, I want to say something about. Right there, somebody, A lot of people have said this. Kenny, I know that you have a theory about opinions, but I want to.
Kenny Schrader
Address, I believe I just gave mine because I hate, I hate hearing everybody's opinion. But I mean, it's just, it's just fact. They have been great for our sport.
Herman Schrader
But, but let me say this. I can, I can never tell you what to do, but people love hearing what you have to say. Okay. We don't got to use the word opinion, but you know, when we first started the show, we weren't on air and, and you said, oh, I don't know much about David Wilson, but what you just said is awesome. That was a great opinion, a good thought because I kind of forgot about that. David Wilson brought a brand new automaker into nascar.
Kenny Schrader
It's huge.
Herman Schrader
Listen to everything NASCAR said. They had to adapt to nascar. And you bring up a good point. And that's why David Wilson was celebrated. He brought an automaker that has been awesome. Yeah. So thanks for reminding all of us why David Wilson was so deserving for the Bill France award of excellence. And David is retiring. So congratulations, David Wilson on a wonderful career. I can only imagine what it's like to be on the road in those hotel rooms and rental cars and.
Kenny Schrader
What do you mean you can only imagine? You did it.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, I know, I know, yeah. What I'm saying.
Kenny Schrader
But you didn't have to work all the rest of the week. David had to work. He had to like, you know, a kind of important job.
Herman Schrader
And think about it, what you just said. You're right. You know, Monday or Tuesday. Then he had to go in to the business. You know, he's at the racetrack and then he. My gosh, there's people that do that every week.
Kenny Schrader
Kenny, we got it pretty easy.
Herman Schrader
I would, I would never want to work for a living again. It was brutal.
Kenny Schrader
How would you know what it was like working for a living?
Herman Schrader
Well, I, I, you don't.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, go to the next subject.
Herman Schrader
You don't know what it is. Hold on, hold on.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, that doesn't count.
Herman Schrader
I repaired vacuum cleaners.
Kenny Schrader
That's not. Okay, go ahead. What was the next one?
Carl
The kind of burgers you get today tells you a lot about yourself. You're either someone who settles for sad, same old, same old burgers, or you're Eddie Carl's junior Obsessed with a tangy OG Western bacon cheeseburger, demanding a house made guacamole, loaded guac Bacon. Fired up for the insanely hot El Diablo or craving a classic char world famous. Give in to your flavor cravings. Do your mouth to Carl's Jr.
Herman Schrader
Good Burger.

Herman Schrader
I. Oh, okay, let's finish up the awards ceremony. I'm just going to say this, I'm going to read it and then we'll both respond. The last 34 most popular driver awards were either an Earnhardt or an Elliot. That. That is insane. Is that sane? Okay, I'm gonna be a little controversial here. Is is are the fans saying that Earnhardt and Elliot rule the sport?
Kenny Schrader
I think it looks like it. You know, but that's four, four different Earnhardts and Elliot's.
Herman Schrader
Yes.
Kenny Schrader
You know, two Elliot's, two Earnhardt's. So yeah, I mean they've just been the most popular. So what can you say? And I mean deservingly so. I mean, you know, and that's a fan vote. And they've, they've got the fans and they truly power to them. And the good thing is they've all represented the sport like you want it to be represented.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, really good. And this is a good segue. Now we're going to move on to the next NASCAR hot topic.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, I'm gonna stop you. One minute.
Herman Schrader
Okay.
Kenny Schrader
Two other champions. Time Majeski, very deserving truck champion.
Herman Schrader
Good stuff.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Went to work as an engineer to help out Thor. Right?
Herman Schrader
Yeah. It's incredible.
Kenny Schrader
And wound up winning championship. And Justin Alligator, after 14 years of trying, wins it for junior motorsports. Even though he tried to lose it, still won it. And Wayne Oughton.
Herman Schrader
Wayne I love.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, Wayne is, you know, he's run truck series, he's run the Xfinity series and he's just been a good addition to nascar.
Herman Schrader
And Wayne learned from Mike Hton because I know you did, but every Christmas received that.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, 10.
Herman Schrader
10. Yeah, 10 second phone call. You know, Mike Hton did it. I mean it's Christmas day and Kenny.
Kenny Schrader
Mike didn't yell at you. He. He called to wish you merry Christmas. You always say Mike yells at you.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, well he. Wait, let's put it this way. And I mean this. Mike Elton grew me up. He grew me up. And. And I owe him a lot.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
So I, I literally care for Mike Hilton. And I know you do too.
Kenny Schrader
I love Mike.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
And we also lost Les Westerfield this week. You know, NASCAR official has been forever and big shark track history always. He'd come to Paducah all time, go to Peavely. So it's just a big week.
Herman Schrader
I remember him with all pro. I really. I really liked him.
Kenny Schrader
He. Okay, I gotta tell it. We're running Myrtle Beach 300 Lapper.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
And he held me a lap.
Herman Schrader
Oh.
Kenny Schrader
For pitting over the line, you know, in my stall.
Herman Schrader
Oh.
Kenny Schrader
We didn't have lines.
Herman Schrader
What did he say?
Kenny Schrader
You know, we didn't have lines. So I was just down there racing. It wasn't a big sponsor deal or nothing.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. So.
Kenny Schrader
So I shut it off and got out of the car and told him he could put it wherever. Remember Myrtle beach had a tunnel I could get to. I just left it sitting on pit road to him. He could put it wherever he wants on pit road. But I'm going Concord. That was the airport and flew home. But it. We. We got along a lot better after that.
Herman Schrader
That is what you call a bad ass removed. God, I wish I. I want to do that one day. Okay, now you're bringing.
Kenny Schrader
Can't do it on Fridays and Saturdays or Sundays at a facility.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
I don't recommend it there. It. Well, we had. Who did it a couple years ago in the Xfinity race. Parked it somewhere and walked to the garage. It didn't work out too good.
Herman Schrader
Okay, first of all, let's bring up a couple from the past. I. It's that fly in my ear. Now I gotta bring it up. What about when Kevin Harvick. They said he was in. He was in trouble at Martinsville and they said, harvick, you will come to the NASCAR trailer.
Kenny Schrader
He drove a truck there.
Herman Schrader
He took his. He took his race truck. He took his. His NASCAR truck race truck and went up one foot from the back of the. Of the. He was in trouble.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. He didn't race that next day.
Herman Schrader
I. I drove the car.
Kenny Schrader
You drove the car. You always drove everybody's car when they were suspended or in jail or something.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, my. My. Begrudgingly they gave me the. The nickname Super Sub. It doesn't bother me to this day, you know, but.
Kenny Schrader
No, that's an honor.
Herman Schrader
And then. And then the other one, Kenny, that. Now that you brought that up, that's. That's hysterical. Do you remember Wilkesboro when they said Calpetty Was caught speeding, so he had to do it. He had to do a drive through. And. And so he just kept coming in. They said, well, you sped again. You got to come through. So he just kept. You were out there racing at Wilkesboro, but he just kept coming down print road to where he ruined his race. They said, you're speeding. Got to do a drive through penalty. So he does it again. Well, you were speeding again, so he just kept doing it.
Kenny Schrader
Sometimes you get really mad and it thinks. You think you're really proving your point, but it. It hardly ever works out.
Herman Schrader
Oh, yeah. And. And I believe that's what Mike Helton taught us. Now that you said it that way, I think, you know, there's got to be a dad and, you know, be sorry. Besides your dad, Bill and my dad Russ, there was. There was Mike Hilton, and he. He was the dad.
Kenny Schrader
He's been a really good dad to all of us.
Herman Schrader
Yep. First of all, thanks for. Yeah. And I got Justin Allgar, tried to get him on a Kenny conversation, so hopefully we can celebrate his. His career. All right. Speaking of most popular drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Goes to Florence and I mean crashes the flow network.
Kenny Schrader
Yes.
Herman Schrader
Now the Florence speedway set. Our fault. We. We did our best. We had starlink. But the bottom line is, Kenny, 50 cars. Dale Jr. Takes a revisional, starts 40th, and I mean, goes up to second and he's, you know, he's trying to get to the leader. The race is not over.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. We're all trying to get to the leader.
Herman Schrader
Right.
Kenny Schrader
But he was. We. We turned that on on the way home.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
And listened to it. Joey could watch it. I was driving, couldn't watch it. But that crowd and the race and that series and Junior being there in the Budweiser car, that was. That was great.
Herman Schrader
I. You know, you and I share when we call heroes and they do answer. So I text Junior and he don't answer. No, I call him. I call Dale Jr. He don't answer. So then I text him. I say. I use one of his words. I said, damn it, answer the phone. So he calls me right away and I said, man, I just want to. I just want to say that what you're doing is going to make a lot of people happy. They just, you know, we always say, you can't go back, but, Kenny, you're right. And back they. My God, the number eight jackets that were sold and bought, they tried.
Kenny Schrader
That were brought out too, you know, that were worn that people had.
Herman Schrader
But I think they shine.
Kenny Schrader
They shut off sales, like at 2 or 3 in the afternoon or something like that because they were at capacity. So, I mean, more, you know, I got to congratulate the speedway, the series, and. And main thing is Junior for doing it. And not just doing it, but wanting to do it, you know.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, yeah, he. He made statement, you know, shout out to Matt Weaver. Matt Weaver was there. You know, you got the Bob Pockrass with Fox, Jeff Gluck, Matt Weaver. Weaver travels around like a. I mean, like a vagabond. And he gets. He got some really good interviews. And Junior, he said he was so depressed when he qualified bad and he felt guilty. And. And Dale Jr. Said what changed him, what snapped him out of it was another racer recognized that Dale Jr. Was depressed because he didn't make the race on qualifying. And that racer went up to Junior and changed him and said, junior, I just want to let you know, I race because of you. Now you. You gotta. You got to get over this and. And run this race. And Dale Jr. Told that story to Matt Weaver, and it was so good, so heartfelt. That provisional was well earned. And. And that. That other race car driver said, hey, bub, we're all here because of you. We wanted to be you. Run this damn race. Let's go. Yeah. Yeah. Snap Junior out of it and went from 40th to second. But, Kenny, they did go back in time. Do you do. Do you agree that can happen every once in a while?
Kenny Schrader
Oh, yeah. I mean, a lot of people. I mean, a lot of guys, when they're done with their real career.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Which was obviously a lot more successful than mine or yours. You know, I mean, these were the hero guys. And some of them still want to go play. Some of them. Some of them don't. And if they don't want to, that's great. No problem. You know, it's not like you got to. But if you want to, you can sure go do it.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Yeah. Good stuff. Okay. So anyway, Dale Jr. Fell out with 33 laps to go because of a damn broken fuel pump. Like, what the hell, you know? So broken fuel pump. He was going to run second. That's. That's what I think. But an Attaboy to Dale Jr. You got any more to add about that, Kenny?
Kenny Schrader
Well, that Layton, I believe Layton, that won the race.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, I got that. He's from Canada. I. I got.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, I was his teammate two years ago at a. Which was a pennies and then it became NASCAR Canada or something. It's the old Penty series. This was in 23, and he was leading the points and we was his teammate. He led the race for 80 something laps and in with the lap car. We got around him, won the race. He ran second. He won the next night. But he's. He's a good kid. He's had a. He's had a heck of a year. Running more in the states this year.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, let's. Let's do it right. I just. I found it real quick here. Trayton Leipzovich Lancevich or something.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. A driver of the number 77 late model for Chad Bryant Racing.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, Chad Bryant. Maybe Chad's been around a while.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
ARCA winning crew chief and car owner. And he's done a lot of different.
Herman Schrader
Series, but Treyton says from the airport to the shop to drop in the new Super Motor for the Snowball Derby and of course, shows him starting up. So. Yeah, good job there. Yeah. Congratulations to Treyton. Well deserved. Moving on. This NASCAR off season sometimes is crazy. Now, I'm gonna make a joke and then you. Because I think it's funny. NASCAR is.
Kenny Schrader
I thought we were doing that at the end of this show.
Herman Schrader
Well, okay, this could be this could I. I just think it's funny. NASCAR is failing so bad that Brad Keselowski, rfk, they're starting a third team. Oh. And it doesn't. It. It doesn't end there. NASCAR's failing so bad that 2311, they're suing NASCAR. And both of these teams are starting a third car, Kenny. So Roush, Fenway, Brad Kazowski, they're hiring Ryan Priest with kroger. And then 2311, they're hiring Riley Herps with Monster Energy Drink. So just isn't.
Kenny Schrader
Front row is also. And the third car, aren't they?
Herman Schrader
Yeah. What have you heard about that?
Kenny Schrader
Well, they're. They've got. They're supposed to be adding a third car. Forget who was going in it, but.
Herman Schrader
So if that's the case, Stewart Haas Racing, they kept one because they renamed it. I'm just saying this for everybody out there. Stewart House Racing kept one charter and Cole Custer is going to drive that car. So the three charters have been taken. What's your thought on, you know, NASCAR? Still digging. Got, you know, $7.7 billion TV contract, and everybody keeps filling these slots, you know.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Oh, I don't. You know, we got some people whose opinion is that NASCAR isn't what it used to be. Well, there's a lot of things that aren't what they used to be, and there's a lot of sports this year. I text Helton and Drager when, you know, and you're a St. Louis sports guy, but when for the first time this year in the history of the ballpark.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
For the Cardinals play.
Herman Schrader
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Kenny Schrader
You had under 30,000 people.
Herman Schrader
3. Under 3 million for the first time.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
So, you know, hey, the world's got issues, but, you know, and NASCAR has its issues also, but they don't have any that's getting ready to put them out of business or anything. They're. They're doing just fine. And what excites me, and some people won't agree, but it looks like we have some really good leadership in place to carry it into the future.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, boy, I like how you just put that. You know, the world has issues. NASCAR is not going anywhere. And, you know, there's that old saying, we wake up every morning to fix problems, you know.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Hopefully.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Yeah. Right.
Carl
The kind of burgers you get today tells you a lot about yourself. You're either someone who settles for sad, same old, same old burgers, or you're at a Carl's Jr obsessed with a tangy OG Western bacon cheeseburger, demanding a house made guacamole, loaded guac bacon fired up for the insanely hot El Diablo or craving a classic char world famous star. Give into your flavor cravings. Get your mouth to Carl's junior Big burger, Good burger.

Herman Schrader
Well, good stuff, you know, and you bring up good leadership. I think I like Ben Kennedy. He did a Kenny conversation. Yeah. And. And he listened to the fans. So they, they brought that clash to Bowman Gray and, you know, they've upgraded it, so. Yeah, it ought to be wild.
Kenny Schrader
I won't be there, but there's no way I'm not gonna be watching.
Herman Schrader
We'll watch it.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, watching for sure.
Herman Schrader
I can't believe they're doing that at Bowman Gray, but I will watch.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, well, it can't help. Bobby Allison just got, you know, good point. A month or so before he passed, got awarded his 85th win, which was at Bowman Gray.
Herman Schrader
Good.
Kenny Schrader
I saw a picture of the king carrying a checkered flag from Bowman Gray. Oh, it Must have been a late 60s Plymouth or something. It was huge. You know, I mean, that's Soldiers Field. Oh, yeah, yeah. The Coliseum out in la. They could race Heroin Bowman. Grace should be fine.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, yeah. Good stuff. Wow. All right. I think that this. You're. You're a. You're a star of the show. You have.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, yeah. All right.
Herman Schrader
You've made me. You've made me look at things way differently. That's why you're wiser than me and that's why. That's why I listened to you. That was good stuff. All right, now we're gonna. We're gonna go.
Kenny Schrader
You gotta raise your opinions.
Herman Schrader
No, you gotta raise my bar. Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Your standards. Yeah. Yeah.
Herman Schrader
You had some good stuff today. I. I feel like our third show, you're finally comfortable. I love it. You're. You're kicking ass.
Kenny Schrader
I'm in my office. I got. I got.
Herman Schrader
That's what it is.
Kenny Schrader
I gotta. I got a chair with a back instead of a stool. So, yes, I'm. I'm more comfortable.
Herman Schrader
I knew it. See, we're both weirdos. And I could tell that since you're in your race shop, you're in your happy place and you're bringing it today. You're bringing.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Okay. Yeah, that's it with NASCAR stuff. There might be a topic here or there, but those are the NASCAR highlights and we are going to move on to dirt racing. Just. Just like we did with nascar. We got a lot of dirt racing. Let's start with you real quick because you're on. You're on top of my list. You go to Duck river, you've already talked about it. This is me. Kenny Schrader goes to Duck river, wins. That's a big deal. It's a big deal for everybody. And I'm going to talk about that more in a minute. So let's move on. Kyle Strickler wins $10,000 now. They wrecked their ever living ass off. Those Modifieds embarrassed me. They just wreck and they.
Kenny Schrader
That race was ugly. We watched it on the way home, too. But I made one phone call. Smart called David Rudeman. Check on Buzzy.
Herman Schrader
Oh, my God. He hit hard.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. And he said he didn't talk to him yet. Dave, he talked to him yesterday. He said the paramedics told him. He said, man, he. He got out of the car and he was.
Herman Schrader
Drunk.
Kenny Schrader
Said he was hunched over and moving slow. They said, well, hell, have you watched him walk? That's how he.
Herman Schrader
How old is buzzy now? He's 98.
Kenny Schrader
No, 83 or right around there.
Herman Schrader
I was only seven years off.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, seven years. That's freaking long time.
Herman Schrader
Okay.
Kenny Schrader
But anyway, he might be a little older than 83, but he said he was sore yesterday. But he said he was, you know, just racing wreck. So we're not. Not. Nothing terrible.
Herman Schrader
Kenny. I want to bring a subject up about the. The UMP Dirt modifieds. It's what I run specifically. I run UMP Dirt modifieds. And you know, when. When we get a good feature, it's a good feature. You know, like in the past, you know, some of those a mains at Volusia for speed weeks they'll go. You might have one caution. But I've noticed lately here that it is a show. I mean they. Why is this. What. What's.
Kenny Schrader
It can just be one. It can just be a day, you know. Hell, we used to have 14, 15 yellows at Bristol too, you know, and then sometimes there's not near that many. I mean it's just. It's what kind of mood everybody wakes up in that day. Track was real fast at Volusia. Yeah, whenever it's real fast, it gets narrower. It was, you know, just don't have as much room. The one of the biggest wrecks was his car run out of fuel and caused that big wreck on the back straightaway. And believe it's what happened. Someone said he ran out of fuel and caused that deal. And that's the one Buzzy got in. It's not always. It's not always bad there, you know, and it's. Any series has. Has their moments.
Herman Schrader
Well, they. I'm g. Tell you what, the UMP drivers, in my opinion, they better get it together because I've seen more hoodlum this year than ever. By the way, Buzzy Rudman.
Kenny Schrader
Hey.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
28 Cars wrecked in. Was it Daytona or Talladega? 28 now they say that's the NASCAR record, but it's not near a record. Yeah, maybe a record for the Cups. You know, the cup series. Yeah, but you go on YouTube and.
Herman Schrader
There'S a bigger one.
Kenny Schrader
I've showed it to you before. You Google YouTube. Like I know what I'm talking about. NASCAR's biggest wreck.
Herman Schrader
Was it me?
Kenny Schrader
It's. No, no. Hell no. It's 59 or 60.
Herman Schrader
Oh yeah.
Kenny Schrader
They started 75 cars and I forget how many it was. But all the drivers were accounted for, it says. And they're moving the ambulance and they're still crashing. I mean that. It's unbelievable. I mean you need to. Anybody needs to Google that. YouTube. NASCAR's biggest wreck. Just scroll down, you'll see one with old cars, and that's it. They wrecked for 45 seconds.
Herman Schrader
They truly did. I wonder what was wrong with them back then. Why'd they just keep piling in?
Kenny Schrader
Well, you know, we don't even know if they had caution lights. They sure didn't have spotters, you know. Yeah. What was wrong with them? What was wrong with them? We've all done. I yelled at you so bad one time in Atlanta when you're four or five laps down and you got in run over that fuel cell or something on the back straightaway.
Herman Schrader
Steve Grissom.
Kenny Schrader
Steve Grissom's like, what the hell are you doing? You're not even in the race right now. Yeah, but never mind. We've all done it.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
What the hell was wrong with them? They got in a race car just like we all do. When you get in a race car, you just.
Herman Schrader
Man, they had a bad race in Volusia. Okay, listen, fuzzy rudimentary. May 7th night. Whoa. May 7th, 1941. 83 years old. Yeah, that's right at Pearl harbor right there. Something like that. That's. Yeah. Look here, I just want to show for everybody that's on. On the YouTube. On the YouTube show here. Buzzy Rudiment right there. Yeah. So you're good.
Kenny Schrader
Buzzy's awesome.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. He's a bad. He inspires me. There's no doubt. I would have probably sold my race car if it weren't for you. And you know, Don Perdome and your.
Kenny Schrader
Age, you probably need to quit.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah. You're the one that told me you better not quit. Leave a race car in your shop even if you don't race a month. So. Hey, by the way, speaking of taking off a little bit, that Kyle Petty charity ride is really, really going to.
Kenny Schrader
Be good this year. Is going to be pretty trick.
Herman Schrader
It's going to be better.
Kenny Schrader
Traverse City, Michigan.
Herman Schrader
I got it right.
Kenny Schrader
Detroit or. Yeah, Detroit. The Henry Ford Museum. To two nights in Niagara Falls to Rock and Roll Museum. And you're good.
Herman Schrader
You're reading.
Kenny Schrader
I've got to.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
To. We wind up at Hermit Heritage. The. The place in Virginia, the real fancy country club. But Cal Petty rides always good. But when we went on 19 oh something, you rode, you rode. You rode. You rode your butts off. You come in at the end of the day, you were beat. And now they got it where you're maybe going seeing something in the daytime go and visiting some place. They. They've. They, they've really got it good. And everybody has such a good time.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. The. The point is, is that you and I gotta take off a week. But. But you're right. Listen, I want to read it in perfect order. I got it right here. Because they just announced it this morning. Because they did a dry run. They just got done. Morgan Petty, Kyle Petty and the kids did a dry run, so. You're right. Kenny, this year, the Kyle Petty charity ride, you and I will have to take off one week. One weekend.
Kenny Schrader
Well, you may have to. I'm pretty sure I'm going to race in Michigan and round up Detroit.
Herman Schrader
Oh, my.
Kenny Schrader
Detroit Real. And North Carolina the following week. But if you need to take off, that's. You take off.
Herman Schrader
Oh, my God. Okay. We. We leave.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, that's right. You do everything by yourself. So there's nobody to get your cardinal. I'm sorry.
Herman Schrader
I forgot.
Kenny Schrader
Go ahead. I didn't mean to interrupt. Kenny, go ahead. Tell them the schedule.
Herman Schrader
We're still. We're going to keep building this up, and we're gonna. Okay. It's. We leave Travers, Michigan. We go to the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit.
Kenny Schrader
That's awesome.
Herman Schrader
I hear it's unbelievable.
Kenny Schrader
You've never been here?
Herman Schrader
No.
Kenny Schrader
It's big.
Herman Schrader
It's cool. Then we go to the Rock and Roll hall of Fame, then we go to Niagara Falls, and then we stay there two days because then they give you an off day. Yeah. Then this one I'm looking forward to. We go to Watkins Glen. And I think they're going to let us run around the racetrack.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Which we. They let us run around. Mr. Penske and Doug Bowles let us run around. That was Indy a couple years ago. And nobody did anything stupid.
Herman Schrader
Nope.
Kenny Schrader
And it was great.
Herman Schrader
And after Niagara Falls, we're going to witches. We're going to go to Corning Course. The.
Kenny Schrader
Was that Tupperware or glass museum?
Herman Schrader
Yep. And then we're gonna stop in Jimmy Spencer's hometown. We're going to Bedford. I had no idea that Bedford was so historical. But it's. I guess it's a historical place.
Kenny Schrader
There's a hell of a racetrack there.
Herman Schrader
Is there?
Kenny Schrader
Big old dirt track. I mean, it's. It's bigger than half uphill in the back, straight away downhill. When you get into one, it's like, damn, your eyes are like, ah, you're going damn fast.
Herman Schrader
Reminds me of Nazareth. God, there's so much to talk about on this show in the future. Okay, so sorry. We're not even to the D. We're still At Volusia. Okay. Kyle Strickler wins $10,000. Congratulations to Kyle Strickler. All right, I'm just going to set it up for you and I know you're going to hit a home run. Here we go out to Mercedes last night. We got rained out on Saturday. These were the USAC midgets and 360 wing sprint cars. I'm just gonna give everybody the results and then I want to hear what you have to say. So for the, the dual features yesterday, Kenny, they started a little early. Corey Day won the first feature, the, the second feature in midgets. Now Kyle Larson was driving Paul Silva's and he won. And then.
Kenny Schrader
First one I think.
Herman Schrader
Yep, yep. And then, and then I'm about let. Gonna let you go here. But then Kyle, you know, they ran to 360 sprint cars. Kyle won the 360 sprint cars. But yeah, Corey Day and Kyle Larson, one last thing, I'll let you talk about him too. Buddy Kofoy was the only midget racer running the get on the podium. Both, both a mains. And I found out something else about Buddy Kofo. He was the World of Outlaws wing sprint car. He won seven amains this year. Anyone Rookie of the year. So.
Kenny Schrader
Well, you need to pay a little more attention during the year if you just found that out. I just. Buddy Kofo has made the transition from the midgets and he started running maybe two years ago some. And last year he was. He was good, but this year he, he was really good. He's drove the Beef packers number 83 car.
Herman Schrader
Legendary.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, but they ran two cars this. They ran two cars this year.
Herman Schrader
Who ran the other one?
Kenny Schrader
Is it McFadden? Yeah. And he said he ran one, one, one ran one series and one ran World Outlaws.
Herman Schrader
Oh, high limit. McFadden ran high limit.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, and they had a car in each. But Buddy Colfoyd has made the transition which if you looked in the midgets last night, it was all big wing sprint car drivers up in the front of the midgets too. But Larson had a little line through one and two that he just got up over this stuff and really made time. Got in big trouble in the second feature off of four. One time just off the racetrack for a little bit. But he never let off. But just a lot of talent there.
Herman Schrader
That, you know, I once asked Kyle Larson, I said, Kyle Larson, I said, you have said that you like tracks, that you know, when we're nice, we say character. I call them rough. And now I see why, because, you know These tracks out there, they're not none too smooth. And they start, you know, in the first heat race last night. Kyle's. Kyle Larson's leading and he pops a wheelie and Logan Siva gets by him on the outside. And I'm sure you were watching too, but are those tracks notoriously have a lot of character out there?
Kenny Schrader
We were at Mercedes, I say a couple years ago, it might have been four or five now, and it was smooth and slick from the bottom of the top. So, you know, one reason you get a lot of character, because they got rained out. You know, you got a lot of.
Herman Schrader
Water there you go.
Kenny Schrader
You're gonna, you're gonna have some character the next day. But we've. There's different tracks, different places. But the times I've been to Merced of the one time it was, it was great, which, hey, it was still a quarter mile dirt last night. And Kyle Larson got out of the four features. Kyle Larson got there first twice.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. God, he's good. And Kenny, your shoulders have got to be wore out right now because, you know, watching those guys, I mean, just every single corner, they're popping the front end. I mean, they're driving their drive, you guys, because you drove them your whole early career, you got to drive those midgets, don't you?
Kenny Schrader
You gotta drive anything.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, you.
Kenny Schrader
I mean, you just gotta. This is what you're supposed to do.
Herman Schrader
I mean, you're sawing the wheel on those midgets. I mean, every minute, every second, every.
Kenny Schrader
Millisecond, a little wheel and quick steering.
Herman Schrader
Whoa, buddy. They get on with it. Yeah, it is. It is unbelievable. Chili bowl is going to be coming up. Here we are at the end of November. We got Thanksgiving. So. Yeah, Mercedes did not disappoint. Yeah, good stuff. All right, so, man, we had a lot of dirt racing. We just now talked about it all. And so this is going to be controversial. We are going to talk about our drivers of the week and I'm going to go first. Our. Our drivers of the week. Our NASCAR driver of the week because he ran a race at Bristol this year. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Is our NASCAR driver of the week because he ran Bristol in the Xfinity race and he run fifth. I was going to say Kyle Larson, but hold on. My NASCAR driver of the week is Dale Jr. My dirt racer of the week is. You're looking at him, Kenny Schrader. Hold on, let me finish. Kenny Schrader is 69 years old and people are living through you. People are not quitting because of you. You are inspiring so many people. And it's not just that you're driving the car. You are. You. You keep Federated Auto Parts. You're showing the kids how to hold on. I know you don't like it fans. He does not like it when I brag on him. But you are. You are.
Kenny Schrader
You're right about that though.
Herman Schrader
You are my dirt racer of the week. Not because you won, but I'm going to add that in there. But because you're inspiring people. I would not be dirt racing right now. I wouldn't even be dirt racing if it weren't for you. So Kenny Schrader is my dirt racer of the week. And now my local driver of the week's gonna surprise you and I know you know it. On the down low is Danny M's. Danny announced retirement and I don't know if you know that.
Kenny Schrader
No.
Herman Schrader
Danny Ms. Is a great local racer.
Kenny Schrader
Sold him his first a mod.
Herman Schrader
Danny Ms. Is number 36 too. And I mean can drive the out of a race car on the cushion. He is gnarly as all get out and shocked me the last race it granted here about a month ago he announced that's it. So all right Kenny th Those are my so you go. I need. I need your NASCAR driver of the week. You got something to choose from?
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Local.
Kenny Schrader
I'll go with NASCAR driver. I'll go with. I'll go with Junior. Okay. Larson going to Merced and winning two races. I mean it. I don't know anybody else who can do it right. It's not a surprise that he did it right. But Junior going to a stack field right Starting in the back and running up to second. They're both. Yeah, they bid both of them did great their dirt deal. I think you're screwed up. It was a thousand to win 20 lap race. No big deal. Danny M's is. He was a very, very good local racer and hate to see him quit.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Yeah. I just that bums me out because we. We need. We need Danny. What a great racer. Okay. Well here we are. I promised Kenny we would speed things up and I think we're doing pretty good. We're not an hour yet and I hope you like that Kenny Schrader. You know I'm having a lot of people this is when you're driving down the road. This is an easy listen because we're and the same thing with all the other good podcasts and Herman Schrader kicks.
Kenny Schrader
Ass all the other good pod so you're putting us in there.
Herman Schrader
Yes, we are awesome.
Kenny Schrader
Sit up. Didn't realize how important this was.
Carl

Herman Schrader
Because of Kenny Schrader, we're trying to take away your. You don't like why?
Kenny Schrader
No, I got no problem with why and I got no problem with rant. I don't have one.
Herman Schrader
Okay.
Kenny Schrader
And I'll listen to yours and see if I agree with you or not. But I've.
Herman Schrader
Mine's. Mine's quick.
Kenny Schrader
Okay. I've. I've found out that the whys that like somebody does and drives me crazy.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Or the rants or somebody does and drives me crazy. I don't care. I can't change it and I'm not going to worry about it.
Herman Schrader
There he is. Race fans. There's your therapy for the week. There's your therapy.
Kenny Schrader
But I really. Tell me, Mr. Wallace, what's your rants?
Herman Schrader
Oh, I can't wait. It's going to be quick. Atlanta, the Atlanta traffic downtown. Atlantic 5. Five lanes wide and it's still horrible. It is the worst traffic in America. It's worse. It's you. You can go down there two in the morning and they still reckon going through that tunnel. It's the Atlantic traffic. They just, it's, it's ridiculous. Five lanes wide and it's already.
Kenny Schrader
Well, I think you did good then to move into Arnold, Missouri.
Herman Schrader
I did.
Kenny Schrader
You don't have to put up with Atlanta traffic now. If you got any other big problems that we can fix, that's it.
Herman Schrader
Respond right here. What's your rant of the week? Okay, don't go to Atlanta. I can't stand that place. It's horrible. Okay, stories from the past. Have you done any thinking about what we're doing today here? Do you. Do you have a story?
Kenny Schrader
No. Well, it's the past. It was. It was Saturday, Friday. But we had. We had two helpers with us. Jim, Rube or Jim, Scott Hansen's buddy and Scott Hansen.
Herman Schrader
Scotty was with you?
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. And that's pretty cool because you, you know, you get someone like Scott Hansen that's won tons of, you know, with the asa, was in its. You know, it was really rocking before. Like, you know, like, it's come back good.
Herman Schrader
Great race car driver, Scotty.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. And won so many races and just people talking to him down there that, you know, and Scott has run a little bit of dirt, and I. I'm not sure how successful his dirt deal was compared to his asphalt deal. You know, it really went good. But that was pretty neat having them down there with us and. And helping this. This. This weekend.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, you know, I mean, it's not as big, but I always thought about what would happen if you and I. Okay, you had Scotty Hansen this week, which to me and you, hero material. I mean, you know, wouldn't it be funny if somehow you or I had Dale Jr. With us with a hat on, and we just took him like, you know, to a dirt track one night, and all of a sudden it starts going throughout the garage. Holy crap. Dale junior's with Schrader. He's a sign, man.
Kenny Schrader
We did that, but he was 16 when we did it.
Herman Schrader
Oh, man. What? That's. That's.
Kenny Schrader
It was pretty. Pretty cool, but okay. You know, them stories kind of come up when you're on a subject.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Oh, they do, for sure.
Kenny Schrader
Think about it. Think about a subject.
Herman Schrader
But you're right. That's when we came up with the Kyle Petty. Kept speeding.
Kenny Schrader
I remember you. Were you. Were you sitting on my lap? That sounds screwed up. No, but when did. Did you hit the tree or the barn?
Herman Schrader
The only tree.
Kenny Schrader
The only tree.
Herman Schrader
So I was. I don't know, not. I was not 10 years old. Maybe I was 10. And Kenny Schrader let me sit on his lap at your mom and dad's licking, Missouri, and there was a pickup truck. And I'm like, let me drive. Let me drive. And you're like, okay, we're in a.
Kenny Schrader
14 acre field with one tree. Seemed fairly safe to let him drive.
Herman Schrader
And, you know, it was. It wasn't rough, but it was a little bit. And I ran that some. Right, right into. Right into the only tree. Yeah. You were good to me, though. Yeah, you were good to me. All right. I got A story. I think it's absolutely nuts. So, okay, so, you know, when I say these two names, you're gonna go, oh, my. Okay. The great Rusty Wallace and Kevin Gundaker. Okay? Yep. If you could see his face right now, everybody on YouTube, Kevin Gundaker, okay? The Rusty Wallace. You know, right now, that is not the real Rusty Wallace. Rusty. Rusty had to change because of Roger Penske. And I love my brother more than life. I love my brother Mike. But Rusty, the Rusty you see, right now, that's. That's a Rusty a lot of us don't know.
Kenny Schrader
It's a very refined Rusty.
Herman Schrader
I always say Rusty's like the Marilyn Manson song. The Beautiful People. The Beautiful People. So Rusty does like the fine life now, but Rusty is redneck as all hell. I mean, he is. He. He. So anyway, Kevin Gundaker is more unruly than Rusty. And we just destroyed stuff. We just thought it was funny to tear stuff up years ago. So here's the story now. Kevin Gundaker and Tammy Gundaker, they own Tri City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. So Rusty Wallace in his redneck days, along with Kevin Gundaker, they're. They're building race cars. They're building dirt cars. And they thought it would be funny if they took the acetylene torch. Okay. And you mix the oxygen and the acetylene and you light a fire, okay? You get the mixture right. Of the torch. Then what you do is you take the end of the torch and you put the torch down on the ground and the fire goes out. Then they thought it would be funny if they took a bread bag and get rid of the bread and fill the bread bag with a wick. You put a wick in there, and then you light it and it blows up.
Kenny Schrader
You fill it with the mixture of oxygen settling.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. So you know the way to get the oxygen, acetylene. Right. You know, you light the fire, but you leave it running. But then you put the fire out by putting the end of the torch on the ground, you know, and the fire itself goes out, but the perfect mixture is still coming out of the torch. Okay. And that you fill up to a bread bag and it blow up. It was funny. Well, they take a trash bag. Oh, you know this. But the ending's crazy. So they fill this trash bag up, but it's so much bigger than the bread bag that they just don't know if the bread bag is really filling up. So little did they know the trash bag is full. Like, it's. It's a Light mixture, but it's filling up. So they take that torch and the end of the torch is warm because they, they lit it again and put it out. And they, they took that torch and stuck it to that, that trash bag, like a 30 gallon, 50 whatever. And it blew up.
Kenny Schrader
Boom.
Herman Schrader
Now here's what's even crazier. Charlie Chase. Charlie Chase was a fire battalion up there in Creve Court. And he left. He said, you guys are crazy. I'm leaving. Chase left. Chase goes down to get some Swisher Sweets because he always smokes cigars. He comes back when it blew up. You can ask Rusty Wallace to this day. He said, I thought I was dead. Gun. Gun. Decor. Rusty. They both couldn't see. They was blind. They thought, oh, my God, I'm. I'm blind for life. My racing career is over. So they call, they call the ambulance. They load, they load. They load Kevin Gundaker and Rusty Wallace up in the ambulance. And Rusty and Gundaker said, it's funny now, but it wasn't back then. They said they, they were peeling their eyelids up and the doctor was getting the pla. The plastic. The plastic. And it melted all the hair on the front of their face. They had no, no eyelashes, no. No eyebrows, nothing. And. But Rusty and Gundaker said that the doctor was strategically lifting up their eyelids and peeling plastic out of. Up underneath their eyelids and burnt all the hair off the front of their face. Kids don't ever do what the great Rusty Wallace and Kevin Gundecker, they lived. And there's more stuff about those two. Way more.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
And some we can't tell. Yeah, but, but, but I have. I've saved some for more stories. I tell you what, Kenny, when you just stopped like yesterday out, you know, the honeydew weekend, I'm thinking, what's a story? So I called Gun Baker and I said, refresh me on that. Oh, man. And there's more. I'm like, yeah, we can't tell those. Yeah, yeah. Okay. All right, moving along. Current Affairs. I know you go up and down the road and, you know, it ain't like you got to be real smart to know what's up. Do you have any Current Affairs? I got one.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, let's hear it. I'm really excited to hear it.
Herman Schrader
Current affairs. There. This is a two part story, Kenny, and I want you to expand on this, okay? The Macy's, the, the store in New York, okay. Macy's came out like two weeks ago. And they said because we're not doing good financially the legendary Macy's. The Macy's day parade. Okay, Macy says, look, it's not going good for us here this year. This, financially, you know, we're doing bad. We are not going to dress our store front windows up. So if you go to New York and you walk around, you know, the outside of Macy's, they spend lots of money on their store front windows. Okay? Now the rest of the story came out this morning. The Wall Street Journal reports. Listen to this. Macy's says accounting employee hit up to 154 million in expenses. That is current affairs. How the hell does one person, Kenny, One person. How does one person hide $154 million?
Kenny Schrader
Really smart person. Not real smart. Not real smart because I got you in trouble. But they, they knew how to jiggle numbers. You talk to a lot of people. It's easy for somebody to, you know, in a small company to, to hide some pretty big money. So that's nuts. It's all zeros, you know, it just, you're just moving that decimal point.
Herman Schrader
I cannot get over that. So Macy's is struggling because one person, you know, you would think he knew it or whoever was, you know, was going to have to come back and bite him. So I wonder if they'll still have the Macy's Day parade.
Kenny Schrader
Both my kids got to be in that.
Herman Schrader
Oh, they did. Tell me more.
Kenny Schrader
Sheldon was in it with Concord high school marching band and daughter was in it through a. Some gymnastics deal.
Herman Schrader
Did you go?
Kenny Schrader
Oh, yeah, yeah, we went up there and watched them.
Herman Schrader
Well, it's kind of sad because I love New York. Wish hopefully things will get better for New York because Kim and I have been there.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, New York's got no traffic like Atlanta.
Herman Schrader
I walk everywhere in New York.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, okay.
Herman Schrader
Trending. Okay, trending. Number one. Trending. Here it is.
Kenny Schrader
I don't know what that is.
Herman Schrader
It's a. It's a bitcoin, I think. Multico Respond right here, everybody. 196 million Dodge Coin Stuns, Largest u. S. Crypto exchange. Hashtag multico dangerous token. So multico. It sounds to me like it's a new form of money.
Kenny Schrader
Wait a minute. It sounds to me like you don't know what it is either.
Herman Schrader
I don't. I'm going. I'm going. My private TG nailed it again with Multico securing a 23.9 gain from 46,000 to 1.1 million. Sounds like multico is good. My entry on multicolored at market cap pointed out on my 300 increase. Okay, here it is. Here. Here's my proof. There it is. 300 increase is now up 300 since listing. So, Kenny, when we're dead and gone, I don't think there's going to be the money as we know it. They're going to have a different. They're going to get rid of paper and coins and it's going to be in the air, some type of digital type. What do you know about that? What do you know about bitcoin? You're smarter than me. Tell me about it.
Kenny Schrader
Well, you're really in screwed then if I'm smarter than you. But I don't know anything about it, period. And that's fine. Have no desire to know anything about it.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, okay. Life advice. My life advice is I was broke ass growing up, had no money and put away $50 a weekend. I'd make like $200 and I'd stop up there at Colonial bank on Manchester, put $50 a week away. And boy, when you. When you. When you. When you hit a certain age, you'll be happy you put it away. So for any kids out there, put something away. That's my advice.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, that all sounds good. And it is not quite the way my deal went. Well, Instead of putting $50 away every week, I wrote Siva Kings a bum check for 100 hours, thinking I could maybe. Maybe it'd be okay by Monday. And it wasn't. So they just started giving me a hundred hours every, every Friday so I could get to the races. But it all worked out.
Herman Schrader
That was brilliant.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, yeah, that was a genius move. Yeah, but it worked out.
Herman Schrader
There's so many stories about urine, Rusty's early days, you know, that's some of my. I have stories. And I told you that when I give speeches, I tell stories about you. And, and you always say, that ain't exactly the way it went. I said, yeah, but it's my story. It's your story.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. You can tell it however in the hell you want to.
Herman Schrader
Next time, next week, I will tell the story about you driving the propane truck before she became good. Yeah, yeah. And that. And that's a funny.
Kenny Schrader
Remind me. I'll tell that next week. You remind me.
Herman Schrader
Okay. Okay, that's it. So finally we got a story.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, if you remind me.
Herman Schrader
Listen. Okay, listen, race fans, we're gonna tell two jokes. I. I still don't think they're any good, so I'm going to tell mine. This is an easy one. A pair of jumper cables walk into a bar. The bartender says, you can stay if you'd like, just don't start anything around here. Yeah, it's another.
Kenny Schrader
I always struggle with the something walking into the bar.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Because jumper cables don't really walk. No, they would.
Kenny Schrader
They would jump in.
Herman Schrader
Hey, let's rework it. A pair of jumper cables jump into a bar. The bartender says, you can stay if you like. Just don't start anything around here. Okay. I'm gonna say a very edgy joke, and it's either gonna stay in or they're gonna take it out. And I. I learned it on Instagram. There's this funny reel on Instagram. These two girls are in a golf cart, and this girl goes up. Hey, do you. Do you know why the Avon lady had such a hard time walking? Because her lips step. Her lips stick. So that is edgy. Why did the Avon lady have such a hard time walking? Because her lips stick.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, it's really hard not to react. I just don't understand what the lipstick keep you from walking.
Herman Schrader
Lipstick.
Kenny Schrader
I know what the hell you mean. You're good.
Herman Schrader
You're good. That was so edgy that we're. Our face.
Kenny Schrader
Hey, can you hear the race car in the background?
Herman Schrader
I do. And I thought it was outside my house.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
What car is that?
Kenny Schrader
You think that's car we ran this weekend? They just got it washed.
Herman Schrader
They washed it. They fired up, so the distributor and everything dry. Good job, Joey.
Kenny Schrader
Cap off.
Herman Schrader
And I do the same. Yep, I do the same. All right, everybody, Herman Scher, you got anything else, Kenny?
Kenny Schrader
I can't wait next week. Tell you about the propane truck.
Herman Schrader
All right, everybody, you heard from Kenny Schrader? Herman Schrader, number three is down. Yes, sir. Anything else?
Kenny Schrader
Magnolia Speedway, Columbus, Mississippi, this weekend. Oh, Johnny Stokes track.
Herman Schrader
What do they call that? What's the nickname for that? Black.
Kenny Schrader
The mag. It's Black Ice.
Herman Schrader
Black Eyes.
Kenny Schrader
You're supposed to get some rain maybe Wednesday and Thursday. So there's that character thing.
Herman Schrader
Different stoke, different strokes for different folks. But there's only one Johnny Stone.
Kenny Schrader
Yes.
Herman Schrader
I love it. Well, do good at mag. Do good at Mag and. All right, everybody, thanks for listening to Herman Schrader. I hope you enjoyed it. Until the next time. We'll see you. See you then.
Kenny Schrader
Bye.
