Don't miss the two episode premiere March 4th only on Disney Plus. Herman Schrader on the Dirty Mo Media platform. And we both are back in the middle of America in St. Louis, Missouri. And it starts right now. The following is a production of Dirty Mo Media. I'm looking at Kenny Schrader right now.
Herman Schrader
Drinker in the show. I mean.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. How in the world did we agree to do a podcast?
Herman Schrader
I like spending time with you.
Kenny Schrader
That makes me happy.
Herman Schrader
Well, it's all about making you happy.
Kenny Schrader
We're honest.
Herman Schrader
We don't know that we're not in trouble already. And sometimes truthful. What makes you think you're not a little different?
Kenny Schrader
You're weird. Herman Schrader. Okay, everybody, we just had the Daytona 500, the 67th running. Today's Herman Schrader is going to be a little different because we've got a lot to talk about. And if we cannot dedicate one show to our biggest race, then there's something wrong with us. So today, Kenny, we'll touch on dirt racing. We'll tell some jokes. But how about that Daytona 500? Wow.
Herman Schrader
Someone text me yesterday later in the race.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
And it was like, I think he, I think it was said Larson or Blaney.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, boy.
Herman Schrader
I text, I text right back. I said, we'll see after the crashes. Yeah, because. But you know, it's just so much different than watching on Friday's, you know, truck are. And I know trucks are a little more wobbly, but after watching the ARCA race or the Xfinity race because these guys know when they're gonna wreck pretty much they're gonna wreck when it really, you know, starts getting time for, you know, either a stage or are when they're gonna give away the trophy. That's when they really wreck. But, but you know, the cars are just, they go down the straightaway so much more in line instead of all this and moving around. But when it come time to wreck, they were gonna give away that trophy. They, they did. Damn good job of it.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. And let me say this, I got a story like that too. Somebody said herman, who you got for the Daytona 500? I said go to the casino, go to the roulette wheel. And there's 36 numbers but there's two more.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Or two green ones. That's 38. Just roll the ball, whatever it lands on, choose that car.
Herman Schrader
Well and it's like so, so Byron, you know, obviously a Hendrick Carr and you know two five hundreds in a row now, but he's, I don't know where he was maybe eighth coming off turn two after getting a white. They official that's not where you really think your winner is going to come from. But it's Daytona so it can.
Kenny Schrader
Hey, before we get in chronological order, that's a tough word to say before, before we start.
Herman Schrader
You know what it means?
Kenny Schrader
It mean, it means I want to say something and then we're going to start. Start at the beginning.
Herman Schrader
Okay.
Kenny Schrader
I heard something that Brad Keselowski said and you just made me think about it because your boss Rick Hendrick, you know he had four cars but then they had little Gator, you could say five if you, if you wanted to get technical. But Brad, I want you to respond to this. Kenny. Brad Keselowski, during the rain delay they said the reason this is what Brad said, he said the reason we started that third car with Ryan Priest is to have more opportunities so we could be better on the speedways. Now he said this whether he meant it or not. What is your thoughts of Brad, you know, trying to kind of touche Mr. Rick, you know, the more cars maybe the more chances.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, well and I think Brad, you know, Brad's one of our smarter drivers. I would say, you know it's just about business and a lot of things and what needs to happen and you know it's just, it's, it's simple. It's been proven after a number of years, not always at the start. Carl Kee coffer with the Mercury outboard team years ago was the first real multi car team. I'll be darn and, and anybody a lot of people for years help. When we started you didn't want to be part of a multi car team and they've made it work and now it looks like it's pretty necessary that you're a multi car team for on the track and just the business in general.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, that, that is another show in a different dynamic. But, okay, let's get to the Daytona 500. Kenny, let's start with, with the TV. Fox. They really. I, I thought they did a great job. Listen, we're not going to get political, but we got to talk about what we seen. They did a good job following President Trump landing the grandbaby. What did you think of the presentation before the Daytona?
Herman Schrader
I thought they did a great job. I, I liked everything about it. I mean, just shows how big it is, you know, and the President being at the super bowl and then Daytona 500. That's. That's pretty huge.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. How about Jamie Little being able to breathe? I mean, she's a true professional. Hey, Jamie, interview the President of the United States, and by the way, he's the most controversial person in the world. Boy, she. She did good.
Herman Schrader
She did good. She. She's not scared, that's for sure.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Okay, Kenny, I want to say this, and I want your response. So, so, you know, not controversy, but I, I think smart. They move the starting time up one hour, and if they don't do that, it's a washout. So, in other words, because they moved the starting time of the Daytona 500 festivities up an hour, they get it all in. If they would have started on time, we'd have never seen the light of day of anything, because the wind and the rain. What did you think of the starting time moved up one hour?
Herman Schrader
Oh, I think that NASCAR and Fox and whoever makes all those decisions, I mean, it's got to be involved between them, too, I would believe. But that was great because, okay, we knew there was weather coming. If you looked at your phone.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
You know, it's like, oh, they moved us forward, but at least they got everybody. Everything. They moved it up. It all started. Everything's great. So we got everybody hooked.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Now, rain delay, but you're going to come back and see what's going to happen. If it was supposed to start an hour, you know, when it was ever supposed to start, if they'd start it then and turn it on and we're on rain delay, it's harder to get them to keep watching, but we, we got them hooked for the first. They may have walked away from TV for a while, even though they did really good job of filling. They may have walked away for a while, but they, they probably left it on.
Kenny Schrader
And your thoughts? My thoughts. You know, there. There's this theory that prime time TV is when everybody gets done with dinner. It's Sunday, everybody sits down, you know, the Daytona 500. The second part, you know, we. We start back up at like a lap 11. It was 5:35St. Louis time, 6:35. I mean, that's prime time. I'm expecting the ratings when they come out to be pretty solid. What was your thought of starting the race in prime time?
Herman Schrader
Well, there, you know, there must be a reason they don't want to start it in prime time because they never do very. I mean, you know, they would. It was supposed to be 2 or 2:30, you know, and they moved it up. So it's not like they. They start it in prime time. So I don't know. That's way over me, man. I'm still trying to figure out why they all wrecked. But we're going to get there. Yeah. All right.
Kenny Schrader
We got it.
Herman Schrader
They're already.
Kenny Schrader
We got an hour show.
Herman Schrader
They're arguing over space. It was really arguing over space with Joey.
Kenny Schrader
Okay.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Okay. So let's, let's go. Green flag. And Kenny Schrader does not like it when I do this to him, but multiple polls for the Daytona 500, you're looking at him, one of the best at Daytona.
Herman Schrader
Wins, no wins.
Kenny Schrader
It's okay at second.
Herman Schrader
We run second and third and fourth and fifth, but yeah, wins.
Kenny Schrader
So let's, let's call it out. You're looking at the man multiple day. How many Daytona 500 poles, Kenny?
Herman Schrader
We just got three.
Kenny Schrader
That's all?
Herman Schrader
Yeah, they were. In a row.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. That's awesome.
Herman Schrader
Neatest thing we got, the first one. Bill Elliott says, boy, did you ever mess up. I said, I said, explain that to me. I thought it was pretty neat. We're starting on a pole. He said, yeah, but you win the race, you go home, you're on the pole for a week.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, he.
Herman Schrader
He was right. That's when you were on the pole for a week. Now you qualify on Wednesday, but you had a lot to do because you were on the pole.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, doing all those. As we would say, you know, 30 years ago, we did all the radio shows at all the little bar and grills around Daytona. You know, Ken Squire's big show. Mrn. Hold on. Let's stay right there for a minute. We started Wednesday qualifying, and we did talk about this, but this is a whole nother show. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, five days. You still add all the local newsomer Evolution. Is it still speed weeks to you, or. Or is it not?
Herman Schrader
Oh, it's speed weeks. I mean, you're at the track. The cup cars are track Wednesday through Sunday.
Kenny Schrader
So a long time.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, that's a long time. It's different now. Some of the dirt tracks. The dirt track what? Basically Volusia, New Smyrna, that capitalize on the. On the races over at the big track. Volusia ran 15 nights and they had two Sundays off. One Sunday, which was maybe the 3rd, 31st or something like that. Or the 1st. Something like that. And then they had super bowl off and never had a rain out. And I don't think. I don't know if New Smyrna had a rain out or not. But yeah, it's. There's a lot of. It's weak for sure.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, so I've made an audible here. Let's start with our winner and then we'll go backwards because we do got to get to Willie B. Right away. William Byron wins his second Daytona 500 in a row. Like you said at the start, even Jeff Gordon afterwards. Jeff Gordon gave an interview, said, we didn't see it coming. So what's your thoughts?
Herman Schrader
It's just if. If you're in that race, if you're there at the end, you. You've got a shot. You know, I was thinking smarten. It's like when. When Dale Senior lost going into turn three, whatever year that was.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
If that same scenario. Now, that would have been a big wreck. You know, that was just. He never wrecked. He never wrecked. He just went up, you know, slid up. I don't even think he hit the wall, but he, you know, he wiggled flat right rear. He goes up track. Then it was just one car. Got real loose. He saved it. Now that had been a wreck because he would either been on the inside row, the outside row, or the middle. And when he started sliding, there have been another car there. Maybe if he was on the outside, he just got in the fence. But that's because the competition is so much different. There was like four in a row then, but now that would. That would have been.
Kenny Schrader
Rig wrecked something right away that bothered me last night. Everybody's like, they're running three quarter throttle and Mike Joy goes at 185 mile an hour. So. So, Kenny, when you were leading the Daytona 500 and your tires started wearing out, let's just say your car wasn't handling its best. Now right now to this day, there's no height rule as far as the skirts. You know, obviously quarter panel stuff. But the cars are glued to the ground nowadays. Now they. They can wiggle, but what was it like, you know, for you? Why couldn't, you know, I know, but I want you to tell everybody. Why didn't we run three wide? What's different now? What. Tell me about your day compared to now. What do you see?
Herman Schrader
I just see that there's a lot more cars that run close to the same speed and competitive. That the field is so much more competitive as far as first to last place. There's not. The bigger gaps in speeds and everybody's stays that close together because you can't get away from one another before. I don't. I, I'm not going to say the cars weren't stuck as good because I, I don't know how they're stuck now, but I just know that you gotta, you gotta run a lot harder now and you can't get away from everybody and everybody's going same speed and when one car wiggles and there's 30 of you in line. I'm sorry. Yeah, there's a whole lot of cars involved. So I don't know. We didn't run part throttle. We ran as fast we could. You'd have to let up maybe getting in the turn or maybe check up getting off. But the way they, they do the throttle now because it affecting the length of the next pit Stop, man, that's.
Kenny Schrader
They need to get rid of that.
Herman Schrader
Well, but no, I don't. It don't make any difference. They're doing it at, at 180 something, right? So what. What the hell difference that make where their foot is? I mean, they're still going around there as fast they can. I guess just the leader dictates it. I don't understand it all, but I know that watching on that, you know, we were in the shop working and watching, had the TV blast and watching it more than we're getting any work done. And it's good watch.
Kenny Schrader
It really is a good show, isn't it? Hey, how about that new. That new deal now that I learned they. They take a laptop. Well, not a laptop, but you know, and. And they put it in front of the driver's windshield. So you, you know what I'm going to say. But let's paint the picture for everybody listening or watching. So now the car comes down pit road for the pit stop. The crew figures out that we need to spend 4.5 seconds in the pit box. So they put the computer, there's a man holding it right in front of the windshield. Let's just take Kyle Larson and it's got a. The computer is yellow and you watch it and it counts down. And when it's Done, it goes green and no matter what the gas man's doing, we're done and the car takes off. So the car, they, at the end of that Daytona 500, they said, Kyle Busch, we are not going to make it. We did not get enough gas in your car. But everybody else was good. What's your thought on that little new phenomenon there?
Herman Schrader
You know, it would be, it would be easy to say I don't like that stuff. But guess what, we're also driving cars on the street and a lot of people that will say they don't like this.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Are also driving cars on the street that tell you when there's a car beside you. They put it, they put on the brakes. If you're going to hit something, you know, in front of you, they, they help you do all. Heck, they'll, they'll drive you home. You know, they'll pretty much drive you home. So guess what? The world changes and our sport is changing too. It's, it's hard to fathom some of the stuff they're doing, but I like it. I mean it's just, it's full speed ahead with full speed ahead, but not like Formula One ahead or IndyCar head. We, we still got, you know, it's still govern quite a bit more.

Call or visit comcastbusiness.com to learn more. Okay, so we addressed Willie B Wins the race. The big wreck pit road there. There are a lot of new things that we have to get used to and I want to highlight the, I guess you could say the hot topics early in this show. So we'll get to the finish. We already said William Byron won and we'll get to all the wrecks. We're going to break them all down. But everybody gets their pants in a Wad. Even the, Even the ones in the pit area, even. Even the media, even the drivers, they come home and they go, where was the caution at the end of the Daytona 500? So you and I, we feel like we don't gotta address it, but yet that's what they're talking about at the racetrack. So it seems, first of all, I want to get my point of view out. I was fine with everything at the end. Although they are inconsistent, it's almost like you have to listen to their ruling. So they don't throw the caution flag at the end of the Daytona 500. But I was okay with it because they didn't need to throw it.
Herman Schrader
No, everybody was. Everybody was either through the wreck or in the wreck. So there wasn't really nobody. You know, they throw the caution for safety to keep more cars from piling into the wreck, but they were all in it, so that wasn't really a problem.
Kenny Schrader
NASCAR's ruling. Last night, when everybody went to bed and I saw. I think it was Bob Pockrass, NASCAR said the reason we did not throw the caution, and this was their reason. Now, I don't know how different from the duels, but they said because we were able to dispatch the. The trucks, the ambulance, because they felt like, you know, like I said, I don't know what the difference was, but there's pictures out there all day long. If they would have thrown the caution, it would not have mattered. Right. The top six would have still been the top six. So it's just they wanted that 43 to win on Thursday night. They wanted that number 43, Richard Petty. You know, Richard hasn't won since 1977 in the 43 at Daytona. So what's your thought on this? This.
Herman Schrader
You think you.
Kenny Schrader
That's what they say. They. They wanted. They wanted Eric Jones to win. They wanted that. Damn. They didn't want that caution thrown on Thursday night because they wanted that 43 to go to Victor Lane with Richard Petty and Victor Lane. That's how goofy people are.
Herman Schrader
Oh, that. Okay, that's. That's why. That's what people are saying. Yes, that's what the people are saying that don't follow NASCAR anymore. Some of them that don't follow nascar but said they'll tell you that. But then they'll also say, but I don't follow it anymore. But then they know that. Yeah, you know, they know that and found out where to comment on it.
Kenny Schrader
Right.
Herman Schrader
I don't. I don't know.
Kenny Schrader
What was your thought of the no caution at the end of the race and end.
Herman Schrader
There was no. I. I see no reason for a caution at the end of that race because literally, you know, everybody, they just restarted. Everybody's together. There's not cars a half a lap behind that are going to have to run through the accent there. Everybody's together. They're either in that accident or they made it through. But everybody knows about it because it lap and a half after they restarted. So I did not see a reason to throw a yellow at the end of that race. And even if they would have, it would have made no difference. Like you say, so. Yeah, you know, you would need to talk to them, which, you know, we're not going to, but they. I know one thing, it's just like I've said before, we're not gonna make everybody happy. It's hard to make anybody happy. But yeah, if you're just watching, you know, you're a fan of the racing and you want to watch the racing. Oh, it's good. I gotta do something Wednesday you'd like. You know, usually every year down there Wednesday and Sergeant and I will meet up with Mr. Hilton and have lunch.
Kenny Schrader
That's big.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, but it got bigger this year because Ron Drager came and Jim France came.
Kenny Schrader
That's big. Drager ran arca, runs arca. What's he tell me about Draeger?
Herman Schrader
He runs it still. And. And Jim France came, so he got to. Got to. Yeah, got to sit there.
Kenny Schrader
Were you nervous? Were you nervous?
Herman Schrader
Nervous, Jim? You know, that's awesome. No, Jim's great.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
And we talking about old stuff and new stuff and it's pretty neat.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Jim France really likes our partner, Bob Sergeant. He. He likes Bob Sergeant promoting, putting on those flat track motorcycle races. They. Why do you think nascar. This is off topic, but why do you think NASCAR loves Bob Sergeant? So he's promoting the Rockingham race. We all know about it. Ben Kennedy asked Bob to promote it. They like Bob.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, Bob just, you know, he's still. He understands the big side of the sport. Not like he's been involved at Daytona, but, you know, he's. He's done truck races at Milwaukee for a while now. He's like I said, they added Rockingham, wanted him to do it, so he understands the bigger promotions. Plus he's just grassroots. I mean, he's kind of done it all, so. Plus, I mean, it's hard to find people like that now. You know, it's real hard to find. And you know, he's the one that's driving in, in the pickup to, hey, I'm at Rockingham doing some stuff, but I'm going to cruise over Daytona. But I got to run by Nashville first because we got to do some promoting there. Something for. Because he isn't. Runs the fairgrounds errors as far as the promotion. So he's, he. I think they just like him because he works his butt off and gets stuff done.
Kenny Schrader
This is me saying this and Bob's probably going to hear this. If Bob ever wanted to, I can see him because he doesn't like to create controversy. Bob's a little quiet. I could see Bob in a high end NASCAR executive spot even though he probably wouldn't do it because he's, he's doing good on his own and he's your partner. But anyway, just a shout out to Bob Sargent. Okay, Kenny. So we're, we determined the winner. We've determined, you know, the caution flag at the end there. Now it's going to take us 30 minutes to get through the wrecks. Okay. Joey Logano, he, he does something in this race that was exhausting to me, but I enjoyed it. Joey Logano is the fastest car, Kenny, and, but to keep the lead, they're, they're three wide behind him the whole early race. And we watched Joey, what I call, mop the track up like he was at a dirt track. He's down at the bottom, he's pulling this lane up, then he moves to the middle. He was probably looking in his mirror more than he was looking forward. What a, what a performance by Logano to lead that race that long.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, yeah, he, he was the car and I guess the mirrors. I haven't like said, hey, drove a new car, but they still got a mirror. Plus they got the dashboard mirror, the dashboard camera. Yeah, yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Objects closer than they appear, they're pretty damn close.
Herman Schrader
I tell you that. We found that out for sure. But yeah, I mean, and then you got the spotter that if he says low, clear, low. I mean you don't go, you don't think about it for a minute. You don't check your camera. I don't think you cut, you cut low. And hope, hope that he was right.
Kenny Schrader
And when we look inside these cars, I mean, you and I got a taste right at the end of our NASCAR careers, but nowadays it's even more. Those heads are in a cocoon. I mean, way more than normal.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Safety says don't let your head wiggle. So. So the drivers can hardly turn their heads now in those cocoons. So I agree with you. Kenny, if your spotter says clear you, I mean, you got mirrors, but you about got to trust them. Earnhardt used to say, clear yourself. Damn it.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, I was. I'm still. I think we have, in my opinion, which doesn't mean anything.
Kenny Schrader
Yes, it does.
Herman Schrader
No, I still. I'd be fine with no spotters.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, right, boy. I want to give my opinion on the spotters. I'm not calling them out. I'm just saying. And, God, I hate to say this, and this is not a diss to you spotters, so don't edit this up wrong way. You all think you're somebody. You editors think you are editors. You spotters really think you're race car drivers nowadays. And. And. And we need you. No doubt. But sometimes I think the egos on some of those spotters get a little big. That. That's my opinion, and it is what it is. I'm not saying one way or the other.
Herman Schrader
I'm just saying it. You just said it.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, well, I don't want.
Herman Schrader
You don't say you're not saying you just said it.
Kenny Schrader
They. They get interviewed, and, boy, sometimes they act like they're driving a car, and I don't like that. But whatever. That's just my. My opinion. Okay, so Joey does a hell of a job leading this race, and. And then we're making laps, and now TV is teaching us, oh, we're saving fuel. And now we really see why they're saving fuel. Somebody goes from 18th, like Ricky Stenhouse goes from 18th or whatever it is. And now he comes out of the pits fifth. Why? Oh, he took less fuel. What is. What is your thoughts of the Lugano Sten house? The big wreck of the night that really shook the whole race up with F. Only 15 laps to go, Kenny.
Herman Schrader
Okay, I just. What I saw, I'm going to give.
Kenny Schrader
My opinion, so go ahead.
Herman Schrader
So Logano cuts left. Ricky throws a late block. Logano hits him. No, no, no foul there. Logano lets you know he's aggravated, but it was like that third hit that really caused it. And it's like, you know, the. The. The view I was looking at there was from up high and above, and it's like, I'm sorry, that car, even though the front's kind of round.
Kenny Schrader
Where are you going?
Herman Schrader
It's not going to fit between those two cars without making a mess. And it. It didn't. But, you know, it was getting closer to trophy time. You. You get aggravated, and I think, Joey, you don't know what they're thinking. But it looked like he, he let his anger get to him.
Kenny Schrader
So Joey logano, a what, three time NASCAR champion, Daytona 500 winner, he's got all the stats, so we're just having fun with this situation. So after the race, they're in the media center and they ask Willie B. Why all the wrecks at the end there were there people not driving right? And Jeff Gordon goes. Joey Logano didn't. So I never heard Jeff Gordon call somebody out, straight up. But Jeff Gordon last night in the media center called, called him out. So that was, that was rare for Jeff Gordon, don't you think? Or not?
Herman Schrader
Well, I mean, yeah, I mean, it's just. I thought it was obvious enough that you could call him out. Yeah, you know, I'm a, I'm a Joey Logano fan. I'm a me too fan. All of them. You know, another thing, right around the time that all that was going on, who's leading the race? I guess I think it was.
Kenny Schrader
I think it was Austin Cindric and Blaney, wasn't it? Who was it?
Herman Schrader
Well, right around all then. Wasn't. Wasn't La Joy right up there.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, yeah, Corey. Well, let's talk about him for a minute.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, you.
Kenny Schrader
You know what I thought about, Kenny, is how Joey Logano. Joey Logano and Cory Lajoy are childhood friends. I mean, they are, they're, they're friends. They spend time around each other. You know, those are real friends. And I thought, look at Joey. Joey's way faster than Corey. But he was patient with Corey and pushed him a while and then finally had to peel out. But I. Does friendship, Kenny, does friendship play in a little bit when you're logging laps.
Herman Schrader
Right up until he gets, you know, you start getting closer to that, checking the trophy. That's when you turn any. Not turn them. Yeah, but you'd leave anybody hanging if you have to.
Kenny Schrader
I agree with you. I thought that was a feel good moment. I thought Corey drove great. And at the very end.
Herman Schrader
And it wasn't. It wasn't just a moment. It was all week down there. It was, you know, he, I mean, he was good.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, he was good. He put it. He drove good. He put his car in position and you saw that. I saw the drivers showing Corey respect, deciding to push him. You know, they could have left him out at any time.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
So I feel like the garage area likes Corey Lajoie and I think that's awesome because I like him too. He's a nice man. Okay, so that wrecks over with and here's what I saw. I saw, you know, Joey Logano turned left, obviously a late block by Ricky Stenhouse. You clearly hear on tv, Joey Logano all the way out of the gas, you know, and pop up, you know, the back firing back in the gas. And like you, he starts pushing it in there and it's not pretty. And then now we're in a situation where Noah's in my ass at the very end. And, and I think that kind of finishes it off. You and. You and I are saying the same thing, but at the very end.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
No, no, no, no. Graxton's running 185.
Herman Schrader
I couldn't, I couldn't tell. I mean, I, I didn't see that at the very end.
Kenny Schrader
That aerial view. There's an aerial view on X this morning. NASCAR put out. You know, it, it's kind of me and you joke sometimes, you know, if you and I are dirt racing, if you and I are dirt racing in the middle of the summer, all you got to do is get on X and go to Fox Sports and they show you the whole race and you could talk like you know it all.
Herman Schrader
X's Twitter. I don't have X.
Kenny Schrader
Got, hey, you. You're going to do what you want to do. Yeah, you're going to do what you want to do. But there, there are times that I don't watch one cup race and, and, and everybody does this, but you just go to X.
Herman Schrader
Not everybody.
Kenny Schrader
Not everybody.
Herman Schrader
No.
Kenny Schrader
You. You can look at the cars, make circles. Kenny Schrader, and they show you the highlights.
Herman Schrader
Okay?
Kenny Schrader
And it works out really well. And most, most people do it because, you know, that's just the way it is. It's. It's good. People get up, go to the bathroom at the racetrack and they're like, what happened here? Look here, look on your phone. It shows you right here. And that's what I mean by that. There's highlights galore. You can look at anything.
Herman Schrader
Okay, you know, one thing, and we haven't quite got there yet. Who got, who got earlier? Was it Christopher?
Kenny Schrader
Well, okay, here we are.
Herman Schrader
Was that. Coming up next?
Kenny Schrader
Yes, that's.
Herman Schrader
That was afterwards.
Kenny Schrader
That's. Okay. So we're, we're going that perfect, perfect lead way. Okay, so now the next wreck. Now we're. Now we're six to go, nine to go. Something like that. You know, the Joey Logan wreck. Fifteen laps to go. Now the next wreck is. We got C. Bell, front row outside, and we got Cole Custer pushing him hard. And that's One of those deals where push me, push me.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
And then don't push me.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. That amazes me, you know? So, you know, back in the day. Back in the day, it would have been, you know, Cole, what the. What the heck you doing? You can't be. You know, you. You freaking wrecked him. And. And now. Now it's like. Well, Christopher's car just doesn't take pushes good. It's like.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Really? That's. But I mean, it's. It's changed that much. Nobody says nothing about, you know, cold.
Kenny Schrader
Custard just getting any mouth.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, it's. It's not looked at it like that way anymore. It's like. So you gotta. You gotta really. Your car's got. Someone's got to be able to beat on your back bumper and not turn you around. Sounds complicated. Sounds hard.
Kenny Schrader
No, you. You put it perfectly. Now if your car. I gotta repeat that, because that is so true. Now, if a driver pushes you and you spin out, it's your fault because your car. The ass in wasn't nailed down hard enough.
Herman Schrader
The fact that you're. Fact that you're running 180, whatever mile an hour and someone's lifting your back tires off the ground, it's your fault. Your. Your car didn't. Your car wouldn't take a push.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Your shocks didn't have enough rebound. You didn't have no wedge in the car.
Herman Schrader
Whatever.
Kenny Schrader
Whatever.
Herman Schrader
But, I mean, that's just it. It's. It's accepted. It's the way it is, but, you know, it just seems different.
Kenny Schrader
It is.
Herman Schrader
Is that a thing?
Kenny Schrader
No. Well, yes and no.
Herman Schrader
I. I feel like the sport change thing.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Yeah. It. It's. We. We didn't change. The sport did. Now we got to keep up with it. And you and I, it's our job to go, why are you doing that? And then you and I go in the garage area and we ask these questions. You know, it was really. I'll never forget you taught me something where when you. You said you had talked to Austin Dillon and Austin Dylan told you. Look, there's a lot of pressure from these manufacturers. Well, I wouldn't have known that unless I talked to you on this show. So I think you and I both stay up to date and we got to understand why they're doing some of the things they're doing nowadays and TV is doing a good job. But you and I do find things out because they do respect you, Kenny. And they do tell you in that wreck, the three does get spit out actually I remember the three of Austin Dillon.
Herman Schrader
Hey, he won 500, you know, because.
Kenny Schrader
Somebody couldn't take a push.
Herman Schrader
I just. No good today. I could.
Kenny Schrader
Eric Amarillo.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, I got. I got hit. I got hit 100 times in the back when I didn't save it once.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, Austin. Austin Dillon was pushing the heck out of Eric Amarola and spun him out and. Yeah, but like you say, you just. Debull did all this because. What do you mean, I can't push you?
Herman Schrader
Yeah, yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Okay.
Herman Schrader
I remember asking guys for push. I mean, that was just. Come on, come on, come on. We gotta push.
Kenny Schrader
Get close to me.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Drag the break. Yeah. Okay, so in that wreck, here Blaney is again, and that Ryan Blaney is leading and always in the top two in these Daytona 500s. I think he's been wrecked out five years in a row, and he. He gets slapped during that wreck. Now, here's what's funny. I want to talk about that for a moment. But he comes down pit road in that wreck is. His nose is just destroyed, right? And you think, okay, they're going to go to the garage area and Kenny Schrader. Blaney comes back to finish seventh. That's amazing.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, well, right now, I mean, if you can finish that thing, you have a chance of being somewhere decent.

Kenny Schrader
Hey, what about Ty Dylan? Let's go to Ty Dylan. Ty in the 10. You know, he ran good in the duels. Ty seems to have found a nice little home there. He. He drove good, he ran good. Let me see where he finished here, Kenny. Ty dillon ends up 14th.
Herman Schrader
Well, I mean, hopefully, you know it. You survived. You survived Daytona when you come out there with a top 15. So you go to the next race, you know, decent and points, but. And he's going to be better in points because when they. L. We don't. They don't line up in the garage by points anymore. But one of the cars with a solid top 10 won't be at Atlanta next week. That's our little buddy Gator.
Kenny Schrader
Gator.
Herman Schrader
You know, Dale. Dale and Kelly's car gets in, they do a good job, and they wind up with the top 10 in their first cup start, which happens to be the Daytona 500.
Kenny Schrader
So we've got one more wreck to get to. Everybody. We will get to that very last wreck. But let's, let's talk about that right there. And my God, there's so much going on. I apologize, but here we are 40 minutes into the show. But you're right. Let's go right there. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Finally lets it all out. He gives all these quotes. Kenny, all week long, I read them all. You know, I just really didn't know how to be a cup car owner. Now that I'm here, I want more of this, the sport right now. Okay, so Dale Earnhardt Jr. Is right there. Kenny, do. Do you think somehow they just give him the funding because they see what it. It. I mean, somebody's. Whether it's Mr. H. Somebody's going to give Junior the funding. My thoughts.
Herman Schrader
We'll have to see. People, People don't just give someone. Let's say. Let's say a number now is that. I don't know, but a real numbers. 30 million.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, yeah, every bit. Every bit. 20 to 30 for sure.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. People don't just give that kind of money out. I mean, you know, we'll. We'll just have to wait, see. But, you know, definitely see him going to another speedway race.
Kenny Schrader
Let's. Let's get on X right now. He's been. He's been talking all morning long. Okay, Dale Jr. Now, Kenny, I want you to respond to this, okay, 54 minutes ago. This is Dale Jr. And I want to say this about Dale Jr. Once Dale Jr. Found social media, there's no holding him back. He lives on it, he says. Woke up today after a long week in Daytona with some thoughts on the whole experience. Excited to get into the dirty most studios with TJ to discuss. Now, this one caught me off guard. Dale Jr. Says this. Kenny, let's. This is kind of just fly by the seat of our pants. This is as you and I were doing this show. He says, does racing at Daytona need to be reimagined? After everything we saw from ARCA to Cup, what's the next steps for a future in cup for my team? What else is on your mind? So he's teasing his show, but he's saying do we need to change? Reimagine is that democrat word, which I was shocked when I heard him use that word. Reimagined basically does rate. I'm going to repeat what he says. Does racing at Daytona need to be reimagined after everything we saw from ARCA to Cup? What I, what I hear is that there's too much wrecking going on. We need to change the sport at Daytona and Talladega. How do you hear that?
Herman Schrader
Oh, I would, I would just if I don't even want to think about how I hear that, if I wanted to really worry about it, I'd call him up and find out, hey, what do you think needs to happen? But instead of us just sitting here guessing. But I mean what, what the heck are you going to do? You're not going to cut the bank down. They're not going to do that. They're making the cars go slower. Just means they'll feel better so they'll be able to hit each other harder. Who? I, I don't have a clue. They've been wrecking there since they, since they built it. The neatest, neatest thing. Yeah. If you, on YouTube like and I know how to do that just a little bit. If you go to NASCAR's biggest wreck and I'm telling you, you gotta do this. Oh yeah, and it'll show, it'll show, it'll show some Talladega stuff in that. But you scroll down, it's, it's not far at all. And there's 30 or 40 something cars, you know, and it's in a field of 60 something at Daytona and 60 or 61, something like that. And they just keep wrecking. I mean they wreck, they wrecked for five friggin minutes.
Kenny Schrader
It seems it was over and they kept coming, I suppose.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, they've got ambulances out there, they've got, they've got Amazons out there and these guys are still going by running into each other. They've been ribbon wrecking since they built that place. They wreck every place. You know, it's just the closer they run together, you know, just think about this week, this coming week. It's, it's A restrictor plate race. I say restrictor plate, that's wrong term. It's a, it's a limited speed race. Atlanta was never anything like that. And now it's like I text Harvick last year, said, good, good to be in the booth, huh? He said, this is unreal, you know. And I text Helton during the race. I'm driving, listen to mRNA. And it's like, that was mrn, wasn't it? Atlanta? And I said, prn, but, but that's okay. Prn. And I said, this make me nervous listening. He said, it's no better watching, you know, it's like, oh, my gosh.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, let's stay on Dale Jr. Because Dale Jr. Is the content that I didn't think we'd have on Herman Schrader, but I'm gonna go down the list here. Okay. You know how everybody's big boys on social media and Dale Lerner Jr. Is not off limits. Somebody gets on there last night. Now Dale Jr. Is live posting. Dale Junior's on the pit box and he's on his phone. I think it's that nervous energy, right? So some smart ass fan goes, how do you feel about your driver running in the back? And I thought, wow, what a jerk. Dale Jr responds, It's three wide. Where are we going? Yeah, so.
Herman Schrader
Well, there's a whole lot of that, you know, just like driving down the road, you know, you're driving on a two lane and there's 10 of you in line. The guy goes around, passes you, you know, and now he's ninth. And then you go up to the stop sign, you're all stopped. It's like, really, where are you going when you're, when you're 10th row middle at Daytona and you know, I mean, everybody's hitting everybody and it's still not time for the trophy or not time to get paid yet. It's like not time to where are we going? But we're racing. But you can. I can't really go nowhere yet.
Kenny Schrader
Okay.
Herman Schrader
So then that said I, I liked everything about it.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. So we're gonna go. We're gonna stay with Dale Jr. Because he's giving us a lot of material here. I just, I just jumped on his post and I saw it last night. But you bringing it up makes me laugh. So then he says, and this is funny, and he capitalized it. He goes, I really any the word really R e a real big. I really can't wait to. Everyone has enough fuel because basically Dale Jr saying I'm tired of these guys riding. But hold on though. Then he puts the next one. He goes, edit. I was incorrect. I'm nervous now. Now the cars do take off and they start wrecking. And okay, the next one, Kenny, then I'll let you respond. This is hilarious. Then he, you know, the joker, you know the cartoon character, but they put the joker in the movies and it's very scary looking. And they start wrecking and Dale Jr puts this up. I'm going to show it. I, I know everybody can't see it on Dirty Mo. Then he goes, and here we go, the joker. The joker's real mean. And here we go. Now let's start wrecking. We're all wrecking. And this is Dale Jr. Everybody. This is Junior. Okay, then one last thing. Then he says, going home from the Daytona 500, very satisfied. And that was the last text last night. And then he, he. Then right now he's in, in cup owner points. He is 13th. So. Yeah, give me your, give me your talk. Talk about Dale Jr. After I just gave you all that material just now.
Herman Schrader
All right. I mean, they, they went to, they went to hopefully run the Daytona 500. How's he 13th and couple owner points. Didn't they finish eighth, so.
Kenny Schrader
No, I finished ninth. Oh. What?
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
And, and let me, I don't mean to interrupt you, but, you know, if you're the fastest car, you get one point. Okay, go ahead.
Herman Schrader
Okay, I understand it now, but they went Daytona. Okay, we're gonna do this. They. They got a good partner, marketing partner with it that Chris Stapleton.
Kenny Schrader
Yep.
Herman Schrader
And they go there. They qualify, which they had to do. It was not a no brainer. They could have not been in the race. Easily missed the race. So they qualify and they come home with a top 10 finish.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, that's big.
Herman Schrader
It's like, oh, that's. I mean, that was a, that was a great effort. And they did what they had to do all day to be in a position to have a, have a finish like that. So, you know, the whole Junior Motorsports with the, you know, whatever, however much that Hendrick motorsports helped him, which obviously, you know, had to be more than, more than a little bit. But they, they got it done. And Justin did what Justin does. I mean, he, you know, that's why he's an xfinity champion. He, he was, he was there at the end.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. You know, and during, I believe the duels, Mike Joy on fox said six Junior Junior Motorsports employees went to Hendrick and put the car together. So that's what Mike Joy said, okay, we've talked about Dale Jr. What a complete success. He's got a taste. He's on X. He wants, he wants more. He wants more. So we will pay attention to that. All right, Kenny, we're coming to the checkered flag, and this is perfect because our show is at 52 minutes right now. We've done really good now. We're, we are. I'll paint the picture. We're coming down the back straightaway, and it's showtime. Nobody's letting off the gas. Cole Custer decides, you know what? I'm going to pull out and pass Denny Hamlin. I'm g. Make it three wide. That's what happens. So on the inside is Austin Cindric. On the outside is. Is Denny Hamlin. Cole decides, I'm not going to push Denny. I'm going to make it three wide. And what happens is the driver in the 19 that took over from Martin Truex. Help me. Yeah. So Briscoe Paul drives Denny right in the ass. And, but that's what you, that's what he's doing and shows.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Denny's car just wouldn't take apart push.
Kenny Schrader
And, and it pushes Denny Hamlin into Austin Cindrick and all hell breaks loose. So bring. This is the Herman Schrader show. Bring, Bring me home.
Herman Schrader
Well, I, Yeah, yeah, that's, that's what those guys were all saying. Just get me home. Just get. Hey, let me back up one minute. I'm gonna let you bring that home.
Kenny Schrader
Okay?
Herman Schrader
But I got a text priest today because I think he'd make a damn good sprint car driver because he's good at turning over tuck position.
Kenny Schrader
You taught him that.
Herman Schrader
That thing was a little scary at first because it, we, you know, we, we see him go up on the sides, but that thing was gaining altitude forward, you know?
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
It's like, oh, how high is this thing going to go?
Kenny Schrader
Okay, I, I, I want to give you my opinion on that. I'm going to grab my Dale senior diecast. Okay. So when, when I look at those cars, you know, so I'll be going to Atlanta this Sunday for trackside live. When you look at those cars, Kenny. Okay, let's, let's look at the front of this Dale senior car. Okay.
Herman Schrader
I've seen that view.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. A lot. That's really funny. So I'm showing the front of Dale seniors black number three. Everybody that's on Dirty Mo and listening. What I noticed about the new car is that the new car has flares in the front. So, so really the Front fenders are not covering the tires. It is the flare. There's a flare that comes out that covers the tires. Okay? What I think's going on there, because if you go to Michigan last year, Kenny, you might not remember this. Corey Lajoy does the same thing. Coming off a turn to Michigan, he ramped. What I think's going on, Kenny, is we got the flares in front of these new cars, okay? And when they do hit somebody in the left rear, the flares crush. And now it's tire to tire. And we're. We're seeing these guys ramp now. More than normal now. I'm just. That's just my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong. But they are ramping. And so Ryan Priest says after the wreck, now this is a badass. Ryan's a badass. He kind of reminds me of you, right? You know, got, you know, tuck position. We know, we're racers. But he said something that, that kind of made me look. He said when I was in the air and everything got quiet, I thought about my kid. I think because he did the same thing last year. It's. It's kind of like nine lives. How. How many times am I going to get away with this? He's wrecked violently two years in a row.
Herman Schrader
What.
Kenny Schrader
What's your thoughts?
Herman Schrader
Yesterday was simple. Simple wreck compared, you know, to last to last year's. Yeah, I don't know. That's one thing that the cars are so much safer. So much safer than they used to be, which is great, you know, but. Yeah, I just, you know, you get tired of turning over after a while.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Yeah. He. The in car camera shows that he got concerned because, like, when you're looking at it, he's like, you know, he's. He's in the air, no noise, and his eyeballs get real big. And we can laugh about it now.
Herman Schrader
But, you know, one thing about our sport, once you go out of bounds, you're. You're hardly ever coming back, you know? And he wasn't sure where he was going right there.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, that's for sure. Okay, so that's why you and I are a team. Because you brought me home, actually. Because it was. It was that incredible. My God, that was crazy, right? I mean, Ryan Priest, that, you know, listen, that is the highlight all across the world right now. That was insane. And Roush, Fenway, Keselowski, they are posting pictures. Kenny, I want to show you this picture. We are on YouTube too, everybody. What I'm going to show Kenny Schrader right now is this Picture that Roush Fenway put out this morning. Look at this, Kenny. Look at that.
Herman Schrader
How do you have all that stuff on your phone and follow all that stuff and work?
Kenny Schrader
Because I'm a miniature Elon Musk.
Herman Schrader
I can shoot. Not you.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, them.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, just normal people. How do you work and follow all that stuff?
Kenny Schrader
I'm going to answer that.
Herman Schrader
Oh, and one other thing, too. We got it. We haven't got to the end of the race yet, remember?
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
You got to bring us home. But we need to really get at that in there, too. But I was just wondering that. You don't really have to answer. I was just wondering. How do you. Because that's why. Because when I was going to be on what did X used to be?
Kenny Schrader
Twitter.
Herman Schrader
Twitter. And you set me up one day.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, Yeah.
Herman Schrader
I took it all off my phone the next day because I didn't have time for my phone to be beeping every freaking 30 seconds because somebody wanted to say something.
Kenny Schrader
I don't have any notifications. Turn. Number one thing. Turn off all. I don't have one notification. I don't notific. I turn. Go to your phone. Go to settings.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, I'll see you.
Kenny Schrader
But, but I want to say this. I want to say this. Kenny. It's. I'm with you. I'm agreeing with you. We're. It's just a show we're doing right now. It's the same reason.
Herman Schrader
Mr. H. I live for this every week. Kenny.
Kenny Schrader
Me too.
Herman Schrader
Just to listen, talk to you.
Kenny Schrader
Me too. Okay. It's the same thing as. How can Dale Earnhardt Jr. At 50 years old. He's 50. He's a man.
Herman Schrader
Oh, my God. Yeah, you.
Kenny Schrader
How can he sit on the pit box with his phone and, and, and post while he's. And. And then Rick Hendrick doesn't. It's a generation gap. These kids nowadays. I went to grade school for Grandparents Day and my five year old grandkid is on a full blown computer in grade school. They got these kids on full, full blown computers and. Kenny, that's what they do nowadays. The whole world is digital. You and I, you and I are in our age group. We, we think it's stupid, it's silly, we gotta have it. But it's a digital era and that's how they promote their, their cars and, but.
Herman Schrader
Okay, so we're going down the back straightaway. The last lap. The last lap. Cole Custer pulls out. I think that's when. When we got stopped.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. So it's very clear. You were right there's. You know, I heard William Byron was running seventh. I heard he was running eighth. I heard he was running ninth. Very clear that he was running seventh, eighth or ninth or the outside. Yeah, in the outside lane. In the outside lane. And we're living right, but we're. If. What's the old saying, if you're in it, you can win it.
Herman Schrader
If. Very true.
Kenny Schrader
What do you think he was thinking? What do you think Willie B. Was thinking when he got in the middle three and four and said what?
Herman Schrader
Well, I would say, well, when he got in the middle of three and four, he's like, you know, I got one, I got one, I got a gift. But when he was, when things started happening in front of him, he's thinking, you know what I gotta do. What? Get me through, get me through. And it's, you know, he has to make some decisions and he has to make them unbelievable quick, which he made all the right decisions and there he is, two time winner.
Kenny Schrader
And you know what? You bring up a good thing. You and I have done this plenty. The wreck is happening. We've raced a lot to stay wide open or not stay wide open. So Willie B's decision to keep the gas in it, I guess helps him win because we're coming. We come back to the start finish line under green and Tyler Redick does not catch him. Kenny. So you bring up a good point. Willie B. Has to stay on the gas going through that wreck or else Tyler Reddick can pass him.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, and the other thing, if you run 189, 100, you know, whatever, and you let up, you know they're wrecking right in front of you and let up and you instantly get slowed to 170. It just doesn't make much difference if you're running 170 or 188, you know, it just, it, it doesn't make much difference.
Kenny Schrader
Hey, while we're talking about Willie B. Our, our dear friend Max Pappas on X is now doing espresso with Max and it's about two minutes and, and I watched it this morning and Max says something that I thought made a lot of sense. Max Pappas says Willie B. Is still rising. He only has like 240, 250 cup starts. Yeah, so Willie B. Is only getting better. He's extremely young, he's in his early 20s, he's won two Daytona five hundreds. And then he brings up the point that, you know, you look at somebody like a Denny Hamlin who appears young and he is but he's 40. He's got 600 starts. Max makes a good point. Willie B. Is still rising, isn't he, Kenny?
Herman Schrader
Only 200 something starts the the age of the Hendrick Motorsports group. Pretty impressive they've got. They can be there for a while.

Okay, everybody. And, and Tyler Reddick runs second. Good run for 23:11. Bubba ran good. He got in one of the wrecks.
Herman Schrader
Bubba was, Bubba led. That thing was Bubba's all. When it comes Daytona, Talladega, I mean a lot of places, but at those places he's, he's always, he's always right there.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah. Let's go to third, Jim. Jimmy Johnson says they, they, they said, I want to get right to this. This is really interesting to me. Jimmy Johnson. Now I know you're going to laugh, but I'm just telling you the truth. Jimmy Johnson starts crying after the race, like a tear. And, and the reporter looks at him, he goes, jimmy, you're a seven time champion. You've won this race. Why are you so emotional? He said, I never expected to be a car owner. It was not in. And he explained, he, he named the investors. They're, you know, all these people, they go and get these, they get somebody, I don't know, they go to New York and they get these people to invest hundreds of millions of dollars. Jimmy names the investment group. You know, he, he, you know, Maury Gallagher is not part of it anymore. Jimmy's explaining this, okay? And he says, I'm emotional because now I'm a car owner. I just ran third in the Daytona 500. That, that really educated me. He told us a lot right there.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, well, he ran third in Daytona 500 and Wednesday when he was climbing in to qualify. Okay. So his goal is to be one of the two fastest cars not locked in the race because of the charters.
Kenny Schrader
Right.
Herman Schrader
So. And, and they got that done. They got that done. Him and Truex, they were the two fastest. Now ifs and buts, which mean nothing in our sport, but you know, if all of a sudden he's the third fastest car and he doesn't lock in and then they go to the 150 duels on Thursday and he has a fuel pump problem or whatever problem, then he's, he's, he's watching his other cars run and he's not racing, which his other cars were, were, were good all weekend too.
Kenny Schrader
John Hunter Nemechek. Okay, so this is good point. Jimmy Johnson finishes third. His other full time card. John Hunter Nemechek finishes fifth and Erik Jones finishes 13th. So not a bad start for Jimmy Johnson's new team.
Herman Schrader
He clearly says I would, I would be a lot more than not a bad start. I was a real damn good, real good start.
Kenny Schrader
Their start off in the points, so. All right, everybody, we, we brought you home.
Herman Schrader
You don't have any stupid joke.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, we do.
Herman Schrader
I don't have any jokes.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, we are sorry for being long, everybody, but this is our Daytona 500 special. I've had some friends say we really like one hour and. But this is our Daytona 500 special. So we're going to tell you some jokes real quick. Kenny, do you have any? No on. Okay. All right. So nobody give you any. All right, here we go.
Herman Schrader
The Herm and Schrader show. Yeah, but your friends have more responsibility. Yeah, I didn't get any text this week. You have more responsibilities.
Kenny Schrader
I do want to point out everybody that Kenny Schrader's not going to say this, but Kenny Schrader's friends and my friends, they do like the show and they do listen. So they do come up and go, hey, I got a joke for you. Oh, here we go. So it is different for me and Schrader now. When we walk around, everybody comes up, hey, I got a joke for you. It's like, oh, the Herman Schrader show. Okay. All right, here we go. Joke number one. What happens to a person if they run behind a car? This is actually good. They get exhausted because the exhaust comes out the back of the car. Not too bad.
Herman Schrader
I knew I, I figured that Part out, I get exhausted.
Kenny Schrader
Okay, now this one, this one here. I just. Okay, this is weird. What do you call 1000 restrictor plates at the bottom of the ocean? Oh, this is funny.
Herman Schrader
Hold on.
Kenny Schrader
This is good. What do you call 1, 000 restrictor plates at the bottom of the ocean? A good start. In other words. In other words, get rid of the restrictor plates. It's kind of funny. God, Kenny, if we got rid of restrictor plates, we'd be running 250 mile an hour, wouldn't we?
Herman Schrader
Well, let me put it this way. Ryan Priest's car wouldn't have landed like it did. It would have. It could have been going, turning over. Yeah. No, it would have been gaining altitude. It. That's just not an option. Forget about the restrictor plate. Something has to govern the speed to where the cars can. We pretty much know where they're going to land.
Kenny Schrader
Side note, everybody. One of the. One of the phone companies had brother Rusty Wallace down at Talladega. They took the restrictor plate off, ran one lap, the Goodyear tires were in the cords, and he was like 250 mile an hour letting off the gas. So before you all get all rednecky on me, take the reticular plate off, it goes bad real quick.
Herman Schrader
Can't do that.
Kenny Schrader
Okay. Why are race car drivers the best people to go to for dating advice? They're trained to look for red flags.
Herman Schrader
Okay.
Kenny Schrader
Anyway, that's our jokes, everybody. And Kenny, we are at a minute nine. We're at an hour nine minutes. But Volusia, I'm gonna tell you what I got. Congratulations to Ricky Thornton on the Gator championship shout out. JD wins the big one, the 50 lapper. Did you see Jonathan?
Herman Schrader
I did, I did.
Kenny Schrader
Talk to me.
Herman Schrader
I talked. He was. He was running that top and that bottom was cleaning up and he was coming, and that's. Oh, man, he's not going to get there before it takes rubber. And he got down there and drove away from them. But they had good races all week long. Volusia did a great, great job.
Kenny Schrader
You know, we. We've had JD on Kenny Conversation. And he said that like him, JD and Overton, you know, and Dale McDowell, he said they grew up finding rubber, you know, down south. And I feel like he passed the one, the 22 car. It's like he found rubber where we thought there wasn't rubber through the middle of one and two and boy, he was gone.
Herman Schrader
He was gone. Yeah. Once he got the lead, he was gone.
Kenny Schrader
He was gone. So in center steer cars, they Call him Kid Rocket. Kid Rocket gets the Gator. I. I thought we already have a Kid Rocket. Eric Rudolph.
Herman Schrader
Eric Rudolph's been around. Yeah, he won. He won the overall Gator.
Kenny Schrader
He won the last race, but it was Alex Yankowski won the Gator. The overall. Okay, so there you have it. Kenny Schrader. Alex Yankowski won the big Gator, won the championship. Eric Rudolph won the final night. Do you know any of those guys?
Herman Schrader
Eric Rudolph, for sure.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
All right, everybody. It was all about Daytona, as well it should be. We gave you some jokes, we talked a little dirt racing.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. And we. When we talked about Daytona, we, We didn't. I mean, we didn't have time to even do the ARCA race, the truck race, the Xfinity race. But it was Daytona drama all weekend long.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, good point. My gosh, I feel horrible right now. Shout out to Jesse Love. He win the Xfinity race. Jesse Love won the Xfinity race. They wrecked their ever living ass off. That's all you need to know. At the start finish line, a little, little gator thought he was clear. He turned left and oops, not clear. But still, that's Daytona. Okay, Kenny, I should know who won the truck race. Who won the truck race. Do we. Do you remember?
Herman Schrader
Not, Not Parker Klingerman, who we thought.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, my God, yes.
Herman Schrader
Petrie about that because Chris Carrier, who's crew chief for Parker, I got to work with Chris at Petrie's in the Xfinity car. Chris, I mean, that. Big fans of them guys. They do a great job, but the truck was just too low after the race.
Kenny Schrader
Are they going to win their appeal? Parker Clerman says they have a reason for the appeal, but I mean, if you're low, you're low. That's speed. That's a lot of speed.
Herman Schrader
I don't know. You know, I, I'm. I'm not in on that. And we'll have to find out and we'll find out about their appeal, but you know, it. You know, everybody thought he won it, but they announced later that he didn't.
Kenny Schrader
Corey Heim was the winner, everybody. So who won the ARCA race?
Herman Schrader
Brain dead.
Kenny Schrader
Me too. Oh, was Butterbean.
Herman Schrader
Butterbean did good in that 28 car.
Kenny Schrader
Brendan Queen.
Herman Schrader
Yeah. Won some races last year. That, that's a great team. They do good. Yeah. Butterbean1. You know what? I. I should have known that. I text him, I said, hey, congratulations, hero. But just so you know, it won't go like that every time. Yeah. Oh, I know. I know, I know.
Kenny Schrader
You know what Mark Martin calls it when you can't remember everything? Years ago, Mark Martin said that it's called brain fade. I got brain fade. I can't remember. Yeah, listen, everybody. I'm positive that Kenny Schrader and myself could go an hour and a half, two hours, but I, I really think we covered it all. And you know, we cover the important stuff. We talked about the dirt racers, we did our jokes, we did the Daytona 500. More Stories Next week when we have a little more time. Kenny, maybe you can remember a story. We haven't told any stories lately because we've had speed weeks has been jacked up.
Herman Schrader
And I'll come up with a story. I'll think of one that I can tell.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
Yeah.
Kenny Schrader
Okay. Let's end like this. I am coming out to you right now. I'm coming out to get my helmet bag. You brought my helmet bag for me? So today I'm going to come get my helmet bag. They're saying 6 to 9 inches of snow starting tomorrow night here. Our high is going to be 15 all week.
Herman Schrader
I hope that doesn't put a damper on racing in Clarksville, Tennessee this weekend.
Kenny Schrader
Oh, boy.
Herman Schrader
I don't know, maybe it won't snow there.
Kenny Schrader
Knowing William. William, who owns will scrape the snow off the race. We, we watched him do it before. So what are you doing this week?
Herman Schrader
Well, I'm, I'm gonna go Clarksville. I'll be damned if. If it's not snowed out or froze out.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah, yeah. We are looking at unbelievable temperatures. So cold that we are not in Alaska, Everybody. And our 10 day outlook today is Monday. Okay. Tomorrow, Tuesday, the big snow comes in high of 12. Wednesday high of 15. Thursday high of 14. Friday high of 23. Oh, Saturday high of 33.
Herman Schrader
That's good enough. Above freezing. Hey, so when I had lunch with all the upper echelon Wednesday, Jim France.
Kenny Schrader
All the big boys.
Herman Schrader
Yeah, we go to that Thunderbird and you know, no brickyard. The brickyard.
Kenny Schrader
Oh yeah, restaurant.
Herman Schrader
It's big, tall roof.
Kenny Schrader
Yeah.
Herman Schrader
And anyway, we talk about weather and I knew I was being a smart ass, but I was like I said the weather rest of the week. Well, we got some stuff that could come in Sunday. I couldn't help. And I said, oh, that's okay. All the short track racing will be over by then. And they both looked at me, I'm like, oh, yeah, we got that Sunday race too. But, oh man.
Kenny Schrader
Man, we had a good time. That was an easy.
Herman Schrader
The weather was unbelievable.
Kenny Schrader
86. Hey, I was there 11 days. You stayed longer. But every day was 86 degree for me. But, but all in all, it was great weather.
Herman Schrader
Was great weather.
Kenny Schrader
It really was.
Herman Schrader
Are we done yet?
Kenny Schrader
