I'm Jean Chatsky. Thank you so much for joining me today on HerMoney. At the end of last week's episode, I gave you a little sneak peek into the brand new season of our sister podcast, how she Does It. And today I'm thrilled to bring you the very first episode of the season. This season, my friend, Investing Fixed co host and CNBC Fast Money panelist Karen Feinerman is sitting down with some incredible women leaders who are making waves in their careers and their personal lives. And she is asking the real questions. How do they manage it all? What keeps them grounded? And what can we learn from the way that they're managing their lives? In today's episode, Karen is joined by none other than Jenna Bush Hager, author, journalist, and co host of the fourth hour of today. It's a candid, inspiring conversation we know you'll love. So tune in, enjoy, and don't forget to subscribe to How She does it on Apple podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen. New episodes drop every Tuesday, and trust me, you won't want to miss a single one.

I am really delighted to see you in person. The Today show was never the goal for you. You were a teacher in Baltimore. How did you end up on NBC?
Jenna Bush Hager (1:37)
Yeah, well, no, it wasn't. It's so interesting that it wasn't like I never saw myself in the field really at all. I was the editor of my high school paper in Austin. I was an English major. I loved to write. And I was teaching. At one point I moved to Latin America. I worked unicef. And while I was there, I wrote a book about one of the young women that I was working with, narrative nonfiction. Because I was a teacher and I realized my kids here could use these stories. And so I was on the Today show for that book. And then I also wrote a children's book with my mom. And so then three months later, I was on again. And in that instance, she was first lady and she was hosting the show the 8 o' clock hour. It was like this big thing and I was kind of her sidekick.
Karen Feinerman (2:26)
And so it was the two of you?
Jenna Bush Hager (2:27)
The two of us.
Karen Feinerman (2:28)
She was the host, you were the co host.
