Yeah, probably. Even though we've only done three podcasts this week, it might be the fifth time I've said it. We will reveal the categories as we go through. Everybody will be celebrating various things today and we open up the voting in advance to the public. So if you're tuning in for this pod, you might think this is all a surprise, but you might already know what the categories are because you might have voted on them. The polling was up this week before we recorded, and that means that we will be revealing for each of the 12 categories, two votes.

Our vote, this esteemed panel of nerds. And then the voting, this esteemed panel, Democracy Party. And then the midnight riders, the bhad babies, the button mashers. Voted on theringer.com, what a great website. On Instagram, on Twitter, on YouTube. And so we will be sharing the opinion of the public. Will we agree? Did we agree with each other? Are there going to be some controversial ties? How will we be litigating that in real time? We don't know. We didn't solve that part before we recorded. We're going to figure. You know, I'll say this. I support that number one. I really do think that my ability to read it like they do at the Oscars was very. I think everyone should do that. I'll just say that. But secondly, I think that Avatar. There's. We've now kind of boomeranged around on the Avatar stuff.

Just like the Timothy ballet comment to where it started off.

If we were doing best visuals, Fantastic Four, which we are for Mission Impossible, would it be that or would I feel like the submarine scene actually had better visuals? This was more exhilarating to watch in the theater. Cause you're like, how did they do this? But the submarine scene was like really cool.

He's definitely gonna have to chase. This is more of like a bigger spectacle. I know that. I think I prefer in terms of action, the submarine sequence. Cause it's like really tense and like, oh my God, he's like gonna drown. But he's jumping from plane to plane, man. You can't really beat him.

See, I think it's the opposite. I think in this scene that's much more tense. Cause it's a real plane and stuff like that. But when you go back and you watch him under the water, like the depth that you're seeing, he looks like he's in the ocean of space.

That was my first nominee. I was really. When I'm thinking about the Vision, I'm thinking about visuals and singing, the theater and imax, and I'm like, that was a scene where in that movie, I was like, oh, man, we're cooking now. Did the movie continue that momentum? No.

But in that moment, I was like, this is a Fantastic Four film.

Fantastic Four has a Versi now, and I still does Suicide Squad.

The Clea stuff, because she kind of takes you by surprise, especially in the first season. You're really like, it's looting heavy. She's there, she's helping. She's like a great character in her own right in that season. Then in season two, they take it up a notch and turn it up by 12.

It was just incredible work by the actress. Just like, again, you have Diego Luna, you have Stellan Starsgaard. Like, you already have powerhouse people in that show. And for her to be there and not only take up the amount of space that she did, but also do it in a way that you're watching her like, this is a powerhouse performance with all those other actors. It's just incredible.

[Jomi]

It was amazing how the show took Luthen, who was kind of the lynchpin of the entire resistance in this show that was almost its mascot, and then was able to send him off by empowering the narrative of her character to such a devastating degree. I don't know that I've ever seen it quite done like that. I tried even at that point to Think it would have been like if the end of the Sopranos would have been Tony's death through Chris eyes?

[Charles]

Yeah, kind of. But like the Sopranos ran for so much longer. Andor you only did like two seasons.

[Jomi]

I know, but I'm not necessarily comparing the shows as a one to one. But like I don't know that I've ever seen it quite done like that. They really pulled Luthen out of the game and then almost made him a MacGuffin. It was fantastic storytelling.

[Charles]

Yeah. Really good.

I mean Cleo is certainly one of the characters who, you know. Andor is one of the defining experiences for Star wars fans and also just fans of like genre storytelling and we are attached to a lot of those characters from Rogue One. Then to your point, we become very attached to certain figures in season one. The fact that Clea is one of the characters after two seasons of Andor concluded like dominating and animating not only thought and care but conversation really notable like left one of the spin off conversations. It's just Cleo would be an incredible, incredible winner. I don't think Cleo's going to be the winner. I suspect the votes went elsewhere. We'll find out. And I think that what happened with Boy Cavalier, I mean, I think Boy Cavalier is an incredible character. It's an amazing performance.

But also just the tension and the suspense across the film and the ability to capture. First of all, this is like. Like a return of the Boyle Garland team inside of a beloved franchise. Right. And a great way to revive the franchise and to take us through this passage of time and root us in that community and then take us back into the abyss of carnage. Allow us to understand the quarantine situation and people coming in from outside of that. The Alphas, the crawling worm situation. Like, this movie was sensational. The performances were excellent. I think. I think Boyle is a very worthy nominee here.

There's a lot about this movie that I didn't love as much as you and Chris, Ryan, etc. Etc. But the performance from this kid, like, it's like a once in a lifetime, like, intro to a young actor kind of performance. He's so good in this movie. Jody Comer is incredible in this movie, and Jody Comer is someone who wasn't, like. Who wasn't someone else who was supposed to be, like, in everything and just killing it and has made some odd choices. And I was just really happy for her to get this great project to show us what she could do. And then our guy, Jack o' Connell shows up at the end. He's bone temple. So, yeah, I love Danny Boyle.

I thought Pluribus absolutely ruled in terms of like the conversation you're describing that you had based off of Alien Earth of like, what is art? What is etc? Like, those are the kind of conversations we had around Pluribus. Like, I just thought that was one of the like the most thought provoking, interesting, challenging shows that came out last year.

Yeah, I actually tend to agree with that. I think that if you're looking at this and sort of giving the award out on. Based on what the showrunner has to do and, like, what the lift is. Ploribus just had this insanely heavy lift. There were times where I was.

Well, there were times where I was like, what the hell is happening? But that was part of the narrative. I think it was a great show.

Like, we can't get away from the original interpretation of the character. And there are some people that are now starting to think that it's not just difficult, but it's impossible. Struggling with the new Captain America. Can there be a new Iron Man? Blah, blah, blah. She did it.

I will say this category was already kind of like full up when I got to the nominations. But like I wouldn't like. I think it makes. It's tough because for what is our usual like bread and butter, it makes sense that we nominate a Marvel movie and it makes sense that we nominate Superman and stuff like that. But like I would put 28 years later above those movies, you know, like I would put Predator, Badlands above some of those movies. Frankenstein, Not Frankenstein.

I like Superman quite a bit. I definitely think that 28 years later is one of the best genre films that came out last year. Without question. That movie is awesome.
