Hey, everyone. I'm Josh Radner, and I am so excited to tell you about how we made youe Mother a rewatch podcast. Looking back, episode by episode, at the hit TV show How I Met yout Mother, I played Ted Mosby the Eye in How I Met yout Mother for all nine seasons. And I'm here with Craig Thomas, who co created the show along with Carter Bayes. Hi, Craig.
Craig Thomas
Hey, Josh. Somehow it has been 20 years since. Since the show premiered. I'm gonna check the math on that. That seems wrong. Ten years since it went off the air. And we thought that made this a perfect time to look back, see what the hell we did and why the show still seems to resonate with fans around the world today.
Josh Radnor
In season one of our podcast, we had a great time. Looking back at the 22 episodes of HIMYIM season one, I was so into him being with Robin when he goes up in the suit. And it's really quite sexy for primetime just in terms of, like, the way they're looking at each other.
Craig Thomas
Yeah.
Josh Radnor
But the moment he says become in love with you, I almost was like, what?
Craig Thomas
Ashley Williams.
Cobie Smulders
Every time Josh and I had to kiss on the show, I was very careful to have, like, boundaries. Right. Like, every time we kissed, I would go like.
Josh Radnor
Like, I had, like, hard.
Cobie Smulders
The only way I can describe it possibly is, like, hard lips.
Unknown Guest (Possibly Bryan Cranston)
Hard lips.
Cobie Smulders
One time, Josh was like, you kind of, like, are, like, pushing me away with your mouth every time we.
Josh Radnor
But I think what I was saying was. And it was very delicate, what I was trying.
Craig Thomas
Which was to say, how did you say this?
Josh Radnor
I think what I was saying was like, you're kissing me weird.
Cobie Smulders
Right?
Josh Radnor
I think that's all I was saying was, like, you're kissing me weird.
Craig Thomas
And our very own Coby Smulders.
Cobie Smulders
There are people who are our age who are like, I remember being in my 20s watching this show, and you're like, yeah, same, same, like. And it feels very, like, relatable. And then I'll meet somebody who's like, 15. I'm like, you were not alive.
Josh Radnor
And now we are launching season two. And while it wouldn't be Himyim if we didn't keep a few secret, we can tell you that we'll be talking with Joe Manganiello.
Craig Thomas
People make me do that line to them a lot, btw, which is also another a breeze.
Josh Radnor
And the amazing Bryan Cranston.
Unknown Guest (Possibly Bryan Cranston)
Whether it's How I Met yout Mother, whether it's Breaking Bad, the thing. The question we always get asked is, did you know it was going to be a hit. And I go, no one ever knows. But what you do know and what I knew about How I Met yout Mother is that it was good.
Craig Thomas
