A chaotic protest outside the Portland ICE facility.
Nick Sortor
We witnessed a violent fist fight that left a man knocked out. We saw the burning of American flag, the macing of protesters and and multiple clashes with federal agents. One of those clashes, federal agents bull rushing and arresting a protester who had stepped onto federal property despite repeated warnings. There was another protester taunting the agents on a megaphone, asking them what the feds were going to do about it. Guys, there was no Portland police around to intervene during any of this. It's an issue the Portland ICE director told me has been an ongoing problem due to local politics. We got a Trump supporter. We got a Trump supporter.
Jack Posobec
He's putting it on the ground and he's it worse now he, now he's standing on it. Not supposed to stand on it. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard today's edition Human Events Daily. We are here live in the Charlie Kirk studio. Phoenix Arizona, where we've been working out of since Charlie's murder. Charlie's chair, of course, right here next to us. Nick Sortor, American journalist, someone who's willing to go into harm's way, someone who's put himself in harm's way, was arrested last night on the streets of Portland while Antifa has been allowed to roam free. Antifa, who assaulted brutally and viciously assaulted my colleague and my friend, Katie Davis, court of the Post millennial. No one was arrested there. Nick Sortor was attacked. We have this on video. He gets attacked, he defends himself while trying to get off the ground and then he gets arrested. This is anarcho tyranny. This is the anarcho tyranny whereby in the communists, the anarchists, they are allowed free reign. And the mayor and the governor get to run around saying, oh, everything's safe. Yeah, because your shock troops, your foot soldiers are not attacking you. They work for you. They are subservient to you. But if you go in and defend yourself, you, a law abiding citizen, go in and defend yourself. You will be arrested as they attack you. That's the tyranny. You're a domestic terrorist. If you try to defend yourself, if you try to protect your right to live, your right to exist. And the expression of the right to life is the right to self defense. But here's the problem with these people. They deny your right to life. They deny your rights, your human rights, your God given rights. And when they deny your right to exist, when they deny your right to life, what do they do? They censor. They shun. They ostracize. They use lawfare. And eventually, if all of that fails, they go to bullets like Charlie Kirk and they try to silence you through any means possible. This is an American city, on American soil. And guess what? Guess who the president of Portland is. Donald Trump. Guess who the president of Seattle is. Donald Trump. Guess who the president of Washington D.C. is. Donald Trump. Guess who the president of Los Angeles is. Donald Trump. And it sounds like there's a lot of people out there who don't understand this. They don't have it gotten through their skulls yet that Donald Trump is the President United States. He is the chief magistrate. He is the one elected by the people, the popular vote. Need I remind you in 2024 to restore law and order. And not just for Nick, but for all the residents, the people who live in Portland, the business owners, the children who live there, the churches that are out there, the good, hardworking women working class of Portland doesn't matter what their background is. What matters is there are criminals that have been given over the rights to the streets the same way they did in Chaz in Seattle five years ago when people couldn't go to work and they're dodging armed militants, checkpoints with militia. And the police are told to stand down. And what's worse now in Portland, the police are told to arrest anyone who defends themselves or arrest anyone who's filming it. They're completely out of control. They're completely upside down. But I want everyone to understand this is what communists do. This is what they do every single time. They infiltrate every institution until they take power. And that power is not used for the good of the people. The power is used, dear listener, against you. We're going to fight back. Nick will be here later in the show. Jack Bassobic, Human Events Daily, Real America's Voice. Coming up next, we'll stand in our way. And our golden age has just begun. This is Human Events with Jack Posoba. Now it's time. Time for everyone to understand what America first truly means. Welcome to the second American revolution. Jack Zer. We're back live here. Human Events Daily, Real America's Voice. Ladies and gentlemen, I got some big news. Blackout coffee is back. Now, for years, you know that blackout coffee has been my coffee of choice.
Nick Sortor
And.
Jack Posobec
And I know so many of you have. You just. You're sitting there saying, I don't want to miss a single day of my blackout coffee. I'll tell you something. Blackout coffee isn't just coffee. It's. It's like America in a cup. Now, blackout coffee was founded on Christian values, rooted in family and built on the belief that hardworking Americans deserve better than the corporate swill that's out there. Blackout coffee is a family business that roasts every single batch right here in the usa. Now, two roasts that you've absolutely got to try. You're going to love these. Morning, Reaper. This is a smooth, medium roast, and it starts off your day without that bitterness, that. That kind of really nasty, kind of, like, aftertaste flavor. And that's for your dark roast lovers. The other one, brutal awakening. I got to say, I. I'm a brutal awakening guy. This is a bold, rich roast with deep flavor that'll keep you sharp and alert. It's perfect for serving friends and family around Christmas, around the holidays, because, let's face it, the best gatherings start with the best coffee. So here's the deal. Go to blackoutcoffee.com poso and use promo code POSO for 20 off your first order. That's blackoutcoffee.com poso support a company that shares your values, supports American jobs, and fuels your freedom one cup at a time. Blackoutcoffee.com poso now, folks, we've been talking about the insanity that Netflix has been under this huge boycott of. Cancel Netflix, all the rest of it. And we're now in a point where the creator of this show on Netflix has been celebrating the death of my friend Charlie Kirk, calling him a random Nazi, cheering about it, attacking people for expressing sorrow for Charlie's murder. He's got to show up on Netflix, targeted at kids, pushing transgenderism, teaching kids that it's okay to be trans. And I said, you know something? This is exactly what we started working and partnering with Brave Books four years ago back in 2021, to start fighting against. And believe it or not, Brave Books even has now a streaming service. So I want to bring on another of my great Brave Books partners. It's Kevin Sorbo joins us. Kevin, how are you, man?
Kevin Sorbo
Pretty good, pretty good. I told you earlier, this is the first time I'm doing one of these podcasts in a car. I'm in Chicago shooting a movie. We're just going to the next location. But I love that we brought in Braid Books. I've been with them about four years, just like you have. In fact, I just did five more commercials for him recently. They should be coming up pretty soon. And then they hit me up just recently as well to do one from my hotel room. And I think it's out there right now. So it is, it is attacking the craziness of what Netflix is doing. But, you know, I posted on X, gosh, about six months ago. Maybe it's even longer than that. And, you know, I like to rile them up because it's so easy to rile up the left. And I said, I didn't get blacklisted from Hollywood. I left Hollywood because it's nothing but pedos there. And part of it was just a joke to see what's going on with all this pedophile talk of, you know, big name actors and people behind the camera. Well, I think there's some truth to that as well. And this is the craziness of, you know, the society that we're living in right now, which is really unfortunate.
Jack Posobec
No, it is. And, and Kevin, look, you know, when you tie that back, like I'm sitting here in the Charlie Kirk studio. I'm in Phoenix. I've been here since he was murdered. Charlie's chair is empty. It's right next to me here. And this is the creator of the show on Netflix. Was, was celebrating it. And, and you think if this were on the other side and, and you've, you know, you've been in Hollywood, being around there, you, you can't celebrate this stuff. If someone had been celebrating, you know, over George Floyd or something like that, they'd be, they'd be run out of town. But for some reason, Netflix is totally fine to support a guy who celebrates the murder of Charlie Kirk.
Kevin Sorbo
Well, you know, this hypocrisy, it's been going on forever. We see it all the time. If you, like you said, if you flip the color of a person, that's enough to make them go crazy the other way around. But if it serves their insanity and their ideology, then they cheer it. And I mean, stuff, I saw what people were saying. I mean, Omar, the things she was saying about Charlie, I keep saying, you know, they love their labels like Nazi, whatever it may be. You're, you're anti this, you're trans this, all that kind of stuff. If, show me the example where he was a Nazi. That's what cracks me up. I mean, the people that like Antifa says they're anti fascist, they're the ones who are the fascists. So to me it's like everything is just flipped. It's all, they know what they're guilty of, but they project it back on, on you and I when they're the ones who are guilty of what they're blaming us for. It's just, I don't know when it's going to end. I mean, the wokeness is you feel there's a tipping point going on here. I certainly did with Trump's reelection and I hope it just keeps on going. I love the fact that this guy's not afraid. There's no fear within this man. But for them to sit there and cheer Charlie Kirk's death, it just shows you how sick and twisted these people truly are. They love murder, they love death. The Liberal Party has changed so drastically since from, from decades ago. They turned into this. Well, we know where they are. I mean, they're not, it's not liberalism anymore. This is socialism leaning into Marxism and that's the world they love to live in, apparently. But we got to shape up. What's happening in this country, to me, I still want to ship off people. I would love to give them a one way ticket on our tax dollars to go to North Korea, Venezuela, Russia, anywhere in the Middle east other than Israel. And then their utopia is already waiting for them because it's take a long time to flip this country into what they actually want. Those countries already have what they want. So why don't they go to those countries if they hate America so much?
Jack Posobec
Yeah, Communist China is right there. I'm sure they'd be more than welcome to go and be there. And Kevin, let me ask you though, did it, did it surprise you when you saw so many people out there and I'm sure many of them are Netflix subscribers that were celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk.
Kevin Sorbo
That didn't actually surprise me. Made me sick and it's pretty pathetic. But you know, these people, if we did it, if we did a documentary on who these people are, I can almost guarantee you they come from broken homes, they're probably raised with only by mothers, no father in the house. There's no moral value in them because they didn't go to church in any way. They have no belief in a God, they have no belief in goodness, they have no belief in Ethel morality. So it doesn't surprise me completely, but it certainly saddens me that this is where we are. But you know, we're going to keep fighting the good fight. You look at when Trump got elected the first time around, what did a lot of Hollywood actors do? I mean, what's her name paraded around with, you know, beheading Donald Trump. And it was, it's just, it's, it's so weird. It's just that wish. Yeah, exactly. It was Griffin. So I don't know, it's, it's, these people are incredibly evil, incredibly sad and they, they hate who they are. I guarantee you they look in the mirror and do not like what they see.
Jack Posobec
Well, I agree with you. It begins with that self resentment and the self loathing. So when, when you've got stuff like this, we could sit here and we can complain about it. But what I love about what you've done with the people at Brave plus are doing, they're fighting back and have created this incredible service for parents or grandparents to get the book series, Brave Books, but also the streaming service Brave Plus. Tell us about what they're doing.
Kevin Sorbo
You know, they put books out there to have positive messages. You know, they, they kind of geared towards the 4 to 11 year olds. That is the complete opposite of what our public schools want to do when they want to show five and six year how two boys can give blowjobs to each other. I mean it's really Weird that we're in this place with that. They do the opposite. They have just good stories, good morally based stories. You don't have to be a believer in God to read these books and realize these are good messages coming out there. I've done two books with them, hoping to work on a third book with them pretty soon as well. But you know, they just do very good books with solid messages. One of my books is called the Bare Essentials of Fatherhood. It just shows really the importance of having a father in the family as well as a mother. And you know, you get attacked for that. I've been to a couple events where I read at public libraries and Charlie Kirk, I mean Charlie Kirk. Kirk's on my mind. Kirk Cameron, he's kind of the cheerleader for these guys more than anybody else. He does the bulk of it. But I'm honored to be part of their team. I'm honored to do and you know, sort of through social media, spread out the word of what they're doing. And I'm going to keep doing it because they just, they do a positive thing with all the negativity that is rolling around out there. And they've got wonderful books to choose from, wonderful books that just great animation, great storytelling. It's quite, quite simple that your kids should be reading these kind of books, not the ones the public schools want to force down our throats.
Jack Posobec
And what I love too with, with the Brave plus service, you can check that out at bravebooks.com or bravebooks us. They've got not only the Brave books and they've got Kirk Cameron's new kids show, Iggy and Mr. Kirk. But then what they've done is and, and they've got new programming like Chef Gruel, American Gravy. But you can go and find old classic shows. Bob the Builder Ventures of Paddington movies like where the Red Fern Grows, Red Wall, great series, Inspector Gadget, Franklin Babar, just classic good shows that they've been able to get access to that you can put this on and you know, look, we get it. You know, you've got kids, you've got, you know, Mom's got stuff to do, Dad's got stuff to do. You want to reward them with a little screen time. Why not show them Adventures of Madeline? I'm looking at it right now. Why not show them some of these great animated classics that go right in line with Brave books and don any of the woke nonsense black kids ever.
Kevin Sorbo
Since, you know, they're old enough to really start watching kind of TV with Us, the TV shows we watched were like Mayberry, you know, Dream of Jeannie, Father Knows Best, and we show Dick Van Dyke. I mean, that show is still hilarious to this day, but it's not the.
Jack Posobec
Kevin, I got to.
Nick Sortor
Wait.
Jack Posobec
Kevin, I got to tell you, my seven year old right now is in love with Dick Van Dyke. He thinks he's the greatest actor. You know, present company excluded, but, but outside of you, he thinks Dick Van Dyke is the greatest. And he's really can't wait for, I guess in December, Dick Van Dyke. And I believe he'll make it. He'll Cause he's gonna turn 100 years old. My son loves him.
Kevin Sorbo
Yep, he's. He's great. That show is very funny with the young Mary Tyler Moore before her career. That kind of launched her career before the Mary Tyler Moore Show. So these are the shows I'm watching with my kids. Gilligan's island shows that were just fun shows that just, you know, there was no really message in there that was negative. It was just fun show with funny, goofy humor. Andy Griffith, you know, My Three Sons. There's a lot of good messages in these shows in a positive and for the left, for whatever reason, wants to attack that. I mean, we've gotten more angry, more mean, more sexualized, a lot more violent.
Jack Posobec
Within the movies that are coming out there. That's what they want, that's what they're pushing. Kevin Sorbo, please go drop him a follow. He's a great patriot, he's a great actor, he's a great filmmaker. He's putting it all out. Kevin, thank you so much for being with us today and for kind words.
Kevin Sorbo
I got a great quick plug. Go to sorbostudios.com. i got four movies coming out and three new documentaries coming out. A wonderful documentary. It's opening Thanksgiving deals with the Last supper. It's called Eating with the Enemy. I hope you check it out.
Jack Posobec
Check it out, man. This guy does not stop working Hardest, man. Hardest working man in showbiz. Kevin Sorbo, Sorbo Studios. We write back. Jack Posoba, Human Events.
Nick Sortor
Today.
Jack Posobec
You know, they talk about influencers. These are influencers and they're friends of mine. Jack. Where's Jack?
Kevin Sorbo
Jack.
Jack Posobec
He's got a great job. All right, Jack Briscock. We're back live here, Human Events Daily. We're in Phoenix, Arizona, the Charlie Kirk Studio. Very excited now and honored to have on Senator Mark Wayne Mullen, who is there in dc. We're told DC is in a shutdown, but as it Turns out the Senate is hard at work. Senator, thank you for joining us and taking some time off. I understand there's votes going on. Where are we at with the, the Schumer shutdown?
Senator Markwayne Mullin
Well, right now the Democrats are still living in historia land because they are absolutely scared of the their own base. The worst person is, is actually Chucky Schumer. He, there's enough Democrats that would vote away from him if they would allow him. If they would allow or he would allow them to. The issue that you're running into, though, is the base doesn't want them to move. Their, their left base wants the government shut down. And the irony is is they're fighting against President Trump. But the truth is when they're in a shutdown, it literally gives all the authority to the president to make decisions. I mean, he's making decisions on who's essential, who's not essential, what government agencies are open, which government agencies are closed. And by the way, those are deemed non essential. He's decided he's going to let them go because they're not essential. Why is of federal, federal taxpayer dollars going to them. And so it's, you just can't make sense out of it. But we're currently right now in the middle of a vote series and we're giving the Democrats an opportunity to open the government back up. This is a clean cr jack, that they voted for 13 times underneath Biden. They voted for it already once underneath Joe, underneath President Trump. And this is the same CR they voted for a year ago. The difference is, is that now they're fighting to reinstall the waste fraud and abuse that the one big beautiful bill cut out. It makes no sense. You can't make sense out of it. And by the way, the fraud that they're trying to put back in place was a fraud that was cut underneath mandatory spending. So that was the Medicaid, Medicare provisions. And, and what we're fighting underneath right now is discretionary spending. So it's not even in the same tranche of dollars. But that doesn't make any sense to, to their base. Their base just thinks that it's Trump's idea. So let's shut it down.
Jack Posobec
Well, and so what you're saying though is the, the senator, or excuse me, the president at the end of the day though, because he has this discretionary authority, they may have bit off a little bit more they can chew than they can chew here is, haven't they 100%.
Senator Markwayne Mullin
Because like I said, they literally have given all the authority to President Trump. And now they're screaming about it and they're like, this isn't fair, he can't operate this way. And they're like, well then open the government back up. I mean, you can open it up right now. We're voting on the bill right this second. Open it up right now. And we can reinstore Congress's authority to have oversight of it. But while we're shut down, the President has full discretion on what he deems essential and non essential and what government operations stay open and which government operations move forward or close down. Also what federal programs are continue to be funded and what federal programs are not. The President of the United States during a shutdown has complete discretion on demon or on labeling those projects and those employees and those agencies at his discretion.
Jack Posobec
And so Senator, you're obviously working with the Republican conference, you're working with the White House. Are there, is there any traction that you can see? What is the path forward? I mean, there are people, of course they have questions. I do think though, the vast majority America, they're looking at this and they're just kind of scratching their heads about what's going on. But I do think at some point people are wondering where's this going all going to go?
Senator Markwayne Mullin
Well, first of all, the Democrats are out there telling a lie. And as we know, a lie is sexier than the truth. And so they're saying that Medicaid payments aren't going to get paid, Medicare payments aren't getting paid, Social Security payments aren't going to go out. That's a lie. As I said, that's underneath mandatory spending. This fight is we're on the shutdown for discretionary spending, so none of that will be disrupted. They're saying Medicare or med medical care won't be available. That's absolutely not true. There isn't one er, there isn't one hospital that's closing down over it. The, all the federal paychecks went out yesterday in full, all the military pay went out in full. But now the next paychecks got the 15th and 16th. Where I think we end up is come next week, next Friday and Saturday, the Democrats have this big swanky fundraiser for their, for the dnc. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they fight all the way through next Thursday and on Friday they open the government back up so they can go on their trips and they can get to that swanky party. And so this, this fight isn't for real. This is just smoking guns that they are trying to deceive their base that they're showing that they're going to fight. This is Chucky Schumer running from AOC even though he's not up until 2028, but he's still scared of a shadow. That's what you have when you have a career politician. I point it out all the time. In 1996, Chuck Schumer was on the House floor, which was the year that I was graduating high school. Thirty years ago, he was, he was on the floor saying that he. That you incentivize illegals to come here when you give them benefits. And that is exactly what he's fighting for right now, is to reinstate the benefits that OBB B cut out. One big, beautiful bill cut out to illegal aliens. President Trump said, why are taxpayers funding illegals health care? And they're wanting to reinstate it. And there's. It's. So I think the fight goes out of them next Thursday, Friday morning.
Jack Posobec
So you think they're basically, they're going to hold it up, but they're realizing, and it seems to me that they're on the losing end of this thing, because at the end of the day, you got people like Maxine Waters out there who are coming out, opening her mouth and blabbing to the whole world. They say, oh, we want. Do want health care for everybody. When they ask her if we're going to do health care for illegal, say, well, there it is.
Senator Markwayne Mullin
Well, Connor was on. Congressman Connor was on Fox or Fox Business, one of the two, and he said that it's only a small amount of money going to illegal aliens. So he said that, I will send you the clip. We'll get the clip and send it to you. It is. It is.
Jack Posobec
Oh, my gosh.
Senator Markwayne Mullin
At this point, yeah, we'll get to you right away. We're sending it to you as we speak. But it is. So they're not even believing what they're saying. They can't even hold their message together. It's just. It's just for the fact that they hate President Trump. They hate that the American people elected him in November. And anything they can do to slow down this president's agenda, they're doing. Except they bit off where they can chew. Because when you shut it down, you actually are buying giving him the authority to continue doing exactly what he needs to do by shrink the size of government. He said he was going to shrink the size of government. Guess what? Because of shutdown, he gets to do that unilaterally across the board. He takes no pleasure in firing people. But the government has got, in most cases, most agencies underneath President Biden during the COVID No one's showing up to work during his four years.
Jack Posobec
Remember? We remember they weren't essential. That's. We're just about out of time. I understand. You have a heart out. You got to get back to vote. Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day up there and fighting the good fight. And the only thing I have to say I'm sorry for is I'm sorry that you have to go and go back and deal with all those guys on a. On a beautiful Friday in the fall.
Senator Markwayne Mullin
Well, I would rather be in the fight than not. So I appreciate you being.
Jack Posobec
That's why we're still here. Down. Human Events Daily. Right back is Jack. Where's Jack? Where is he?
Nick Sortor
Jack, I want to see you.
Jack Posobec
Great job, Jack. Thank you. What a job you do. You know, we have an incredible thing. We're always talking about the fake news and the bad, but we have guys, and these are the guys should be getting policies.
Nick Sortor
We got a Trump supporter.
Jack Posobec
We got a Trump supporter right here. Oh, he's putting it on the ground.
Kevin Sorbo
And he's making it worse.
Nick Sortor
Now he's standing on it.
Senator Markwayne Mullin
You're not supposed to stand on it.
Nick Sortor
Oh, now I think she's saving it.
Jack Posobec
You ready to turn that phone off? Let me scan your body. I'll have a conversation about a bigger picture. All right, Jack Kobic, we're back live here at the Charlie Kirk studio in Phoenix, Arizona. You just saw the video there. Journalist Nick Sortor, arrested last night, spent the night in jail. He joins us now on Human Events Daily. Nick, first of all, are you okay?
Nick Sortor
Yeah, I'm okay. I'm shaken up and tired because, you know, jail isn't not exactly a five star resort, especially out here in Portland. But, you know, it's an experience that I'm hoping that we can make some good out of. And from what I've seen this morning, I'm pretty hopeful about that.
Jack Posobec
Well, so you and I spoke on the phone earlier. I've seen what stuff you've been putting out on Twitter. Walk us through, in your own words, what happened last night.
Nick Sortor
Yeah, I mean, it's actually, it's pretty simple. Jack, you know very well that these antifa thugs hate when you video them in any circumstance. Right, but in this circumstance, it's even worse because what's going on is these idiots. It's routine. It happens every single time close to the top of the hour when DHS agents come out of the facility for either a shift change or they're letting a vehicle out. So they have to clear the degenerates out from in front of of the facility. And they like to push back and assault these agents. They think that there aren't gonna be any sort of repercussions. But of course a lot of times there are. That's how you get these awesome f around and find out videos of them being maced. Right. So naturally I'm gonna flock to that. I'm a journalist. I'm going to show what is happening and the result that happens. These guys that act like they're super tough are now on the ground crying like little babies because they decided to push an ICE agent and they got maced in the face. So they don't want the world to see that they're not actually these tough military type figures that they're actually just, you know, I don't know if I can say, well, and so Nick.
Jack Posobec
So Nick. So Nick. So you're out there, you're filming. There's the maze. We saw the stuff with the American flag. What was going on immediately prior to, I mean, this, this, you getting handcuffed.
Nick Sortor
Yeah, it was because they were upset that I was filming them after they were being maced. I was filming them on the ground crying. You know, they're on the public sidewalk. I'm on a public sidewalk. I can film whatever I want to in public. And there's nothing they can do about that. They don't understand that, of course. I mean, we're not dealing with the world's best and brightest here, Jack. So. And so they get mad in their way of handling that when you don't immediately give in to their demands. They come at you physically, aggressively. But I'm not going to just surrender to them and stop filming because they threaten me and tell me not to. That's not how I operate. That's not how any self respecting journalist should operate. So they decided to come after me. They decided to chase me down the sidewalk, as you can see in this video. And there's 10 of them surrounding me. They tried to jump in front of me. I'm actually heading to my car at this point. So I was trying to get through on the sidewalk and they shoved me into this flower pit. And I got up and was able to push my way out of the situation. And I go to the Portland police and I stand next to this group of Portland police for like seven or eight minutes, you know, because that felt like a pretty safe place to be at the time. Right. Little did I know I was gonna end up being the one arrested rather than the people that just, you know, broke my camera, shoved me into a hole, and punched me. They didn't end up getting arrested. It was just me, as you can see in the video. And, I mean, I was shocked by this. I did not. For a second, even when I was being handcuffed, I thought there were two possibilities here. Either, A, they're pretending like they're arresting me just to get me out of the situation, like pretend like they're doing something, or B, it's totally a case of mistaken identity. Never did it cross my mind in these first several minutes that they were actually arresting me for something. It was unfathomable. And they didn't know what they were arresting me for either, because it took over an hour for them to figure out what the charge was.
Jack Posobec
So what exactly have you been charged with? I mean, we can see in this video that you're clearly defending yourself, just like Kyle Rittenhouse, but here we go again.
Nick Sortor
Yeah. Yeah. So they decided that they could charge me with disorderly conduct in the second degree. And, you know, funny enough, they. We were pulled over on the side of the road in the cop car for an hour. While they were trying to figure out what charge it would be, they were taking phone calls from superiors and stepping out of the vehicle to do so so that I couldn't hear what they were talking about. Shady as hell. Shady as hell. And they get back in the car and then say, okay, yep, you're being charged with disorderly conduct in the second degree. And I'm like, okay, what exactly does that mean? What? Disorderly? You got to give me more of a description here. What. What was the event that led to me being charged with disorderly conduct? And they're like, well, it could have to do with three things. It could be either blocking the road, blocking the sidewalk, or getting in a fight. I said, okay, well, which one is it? And they're like, well, we don't actually know the answer to that question. So this was. They were making it up as they went. And funny enough, ironically, Antifa is routinely doing all three of those things.
Jack Posobec
That's exactly what they all do. So, Nick, Nick, before we. Before we go to that, then we got a couple of minutes left in this segment, and what was it like being in jail? I mean, the moment you. You get the handcuffs on you, I mean, it obviously must be very confusing. You comported yourself very well, by the way you kept your composure. I know that wasn't easy, but you showed that discipline, like someone who's been in the field as many times as you, because, you know. Right. Don't fight there. Fight it out in court. What was the rest of your night like as they put you in the back of the car and brought you to the prison cell?
Nick Sortor
You know, I even. Once I got to the jail, I was still thinking, okay, well, maybe they're gonna be making a bunch of arrests, you know, because people are. There are videos that are circulating from yesterday of people literally beating each other to a pulp in the middle of the road out there. So I was like, okay, well, maybe this place is gonna fill up. Because it was mostly empty, of course, because they don't typically arrest people in Portland. So I was, like, one of very few people that were even in the jail. It was very quiet. Nobody else showed up. I mean, two other people showed up the whole night, and I didn't recognize either of them. So it's like, okay, who are they? What have they been arrested for? I didn't know because they were two women. So they were put in a different section than I was. But so the two guys that were bloodying each other up in the middle of the street, trying to fight each other, fighting other people. All the antifa members that were stabbing people with umbrellas because they have those pointy ends on them, they use them as weapons. Right. None of them ended up in the jail. And then if you read back on the Portland Police Department's Twitter or X, they actually say that after the targeted arrest of me, they cleared the scene and left. So it's like, was the entire thing. Was the entire point of them going to arrest me, why did they just leave after that? It's not like the situation calmed down after I was gone. There's so many questions.
Jack Posobec
I want to be clear on this. I want to drill down on this. You're saying that it wasn't even necessarily your behavior and this. This scuffle with the flower bed and them pushing you down as you were leaving the situation, you're saying that you heard that it was a targeted arrest, meaning they may have been sent out to target you because of who you are and what you were doing.
Nick Sortor
They actually said. That's their term. That's not my term. They said that publicly, that they made a targeted arrest. So that was referring to me. So I'm not throwing that. I'm not making it up. That's what they said. Yeah.
Jack Posobec
Of a working journalist on the street, and I've watched the video, by the way, and I've seen you in a million videos and covering a million different events. I've never once seen you use violence or provoke people or any of this litany of things that people are blocking roads or anything like that. I mean, like, that's, that's, that's just not what Nick's order does. I mean, you provide starlinks to people who have blocked roads, by the way, and you go out and help people as much as possible, and you've done the yeoman's work in time after time in so many of these disaster areas. And by the way, I'm sure that if there are a way that, that you had to help the people that are living and working in these conditions, that you would have done that as well. Nick, we're coming up on a break. Can I hold you over for just a little bit? Can I. Are you able to do that? Do you gotta run?
Nick Sortor
Yeah, that's fine. No, I'm good. Go ahead.
Jack Posobec
All right, we're gonna hold. We're gonna hold Nick Sorter over. Thank you very much, Nick, for being here with us. I'm glad you're okay, because we need to talk. When we get back, I want to talk about how we're going to fight back. The White House has already weighed in on this. The Department of Homeland Security has weighed in on this. The. The Department of Justice has weighed in on this. And it shouldn't have to happen that a working journalist gets arrested in a targeted arrest. This is what communists do, folks. This is what they do every single time. You don't believe me, ask Charlie Kirk. Be right back. Jack is a great guy. He's written a fantastic book. Everybody's talking about it.
Nick Sortor
Go get it. And he's been my friend right from.
Jack Posobec
The beginning of this whole beautiful event.
Nick Sortor
And we're going to turn it around.
Jack Posobec
And make our country great again. Amen. Jack Zoaker back here live Human Events Daily Charlie Kirk Studio, Phoenix, Arizona. We're on with Nick Sortor, who was arrested last night, an obvious unlawful arrest. Nick, you have. And I can't even imagine if you would have been realizing it when those handcuffs were put on you, that you've had the White House respond to this, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice. You yourself have had strong words for the Portland police. Where does this go next?
Nick Sortor
You know, Jack, I was. I was very flattered by the outpouring of support. I didn't actually know at the time. Keep in mind, I'm in A box. So I had no clue what was going on on the outside. I didn't know who knew that I was arrested. I didn't know if anybody knew that I was arrested. I didn't see who saw me get arrested. So I was sort of in there thinking like, okay, well what do I do when I get back out? Because I knew that this needed to be brought to attention because it's obviously ridiculous and it proves what we've been saying for the longest time about these radical left police departments, especially in Portland and Seattle would probably be another example as well. And then I come out and I look at my phone and it just, it was like fried. I mean, just the amount when I turned it back on, all the messages, all the tags and posts and from like high level figures, like high in the US government, which was fantastic. Like they were all invested in the story. They all wanted to help. I mean, Kristi Noem, Tricia McLaughlin, Pam Bondi. I spoke personally with Attorney General Pam Bondi this morning, as well as Harmeet Dhillon, who's already hit the ground running on this DOJ investigation into Portland. This is going to be, this could potentially be a turning point in this city, one that has been ravaged with violence and lawlessness and, you know, antifa terrorism for years now. And you know, we also saw, I think Benny broke this story at the time where Kristi Noem was sending DHS agents to the jail to try to get me out. I had been released right around the same time. But I mean, they were pulling all the levers they possibly could to resolve this situation and they, this was like the final straw. It seems like all these agencies coming together, it just, it enraged so many people that, you know, I want to keep this, I don't necessarily need the story to be about me. I want the story to continue though, in the way that, you know, we keep up this momentum to take back these blue cities. Because, you know, I think about the victims of the police department and the lack of justice that regular folks out here, you know, people that live in Portland, there is an apartment complex that is directly next door to this ICE facility and many of the people live there. I've been told even by the rioters that there are veterans that live there, a bunch of veterans that live in this place and they're sitting there screaming at 3 o' clock in the morning with megaphones, you know, incoherent garbage at ICE agents every single night. There are no nights taken off from rioting outside of the ICE facility here in Portland. So why don't those people ever get justice? Why are, you know, in my opinion, Jack, correct me if I'm wrong here, but disorderly conduct is actually people that are screaming with megaphones out on the street at three o' clock in the morning, setting fires and, you know, just causing general mayhem in the streets. Not me for putting a camera in people's face that, you know, don't want to be filmed in public. You know, if that's the takeaway, if that's one thing that people take away, it's that it's like the double standard here is massively clear.
Jack Posobec
No, it's the double standard, but also, Nick, it's. So I would say it highlights, it highlights what President Trump is talking about, with the entire administration is talking about, is that this is the, the triple standard of justice, the three tiered system of justice that we've seen. One standard for a conservative, one standard for the average person, and one standard for the left and their little shock troops and cretins out on the street. And that's what the federal deployment to Portland is all about. Because when you have the mayor up there and the governor and they walk around and say, oh, it's perfectly safe, that's because they're on the same side as Antifa. And as it turns out, it looks like they've given orders to the police department that Antifa are allowed to be able to commit these crimes. But if anyone is in the way of Antifa, then they will be the criminals. This is a historic textbook move of communists. It's called anarcho tyranny, whereby in the shock troops are allowed complete impunity to maim, assault, attack, block roads, block residents. The people who work there, by the way, just trying to get to work or have a night, a night of sleep before they have to work a shift in the morning, or God forbid they're working at night and just trying to get out. Antifa can do whatever they want to them. But if you try to defend yourself, which is what you did, we can see the video, the whole world can see it. You're a criminal, you are treated like a domestic terrorist. It is complete inversion of our legal order and our moral order. And it's done purposefully to keep everyone out of those in power.
Nick Sortor
Yeah, absolutely, Jack. And the people here, they're afraid to speak out about this. They're afraid of the consequences because if they go out from their apartment building, the one that I was just referring to, and they try to speak out against the screaming in the streets, and the general anarchy that's happening, they're gonna end up being beat to a pulp. And they don't have a large voice or platform to use to get that message out. The legacy media here, sure hell isn't gonna help with it. They don't care because they're scared, too. All these people are afraid of these violent leftists at this point because they know that. That the police department isn't gonna do anything about it. And I actually spoke with these officers that they call liaison officers from the Portland Police Department down there. They station two of them, just two every night, just on the corner. They don't do anything. They've never arrested a single person down there. And if you watch Katie Daviscourt's video, you'll see that liaison officer, which is a sworn officer, they have just as many policing powers as any other cop. Following the assailant and then just letting her go. I asked them on covert camera why they don't enforce laws when they watch crimes happen. They don't do anything about it. And they said, well, we don't want to pick sides in this case. We don't want to pick any sides. We don't want to make one side feel like we're coming after them, but not the other. And so that's why you see people like Katie get hit. I mean, she literally got a concussion from this. They're saying, well, they'll intervene when there's a substantial chance of death. Okay, so if you're bleeding out in the middle of the street, maybe they'll jump in and do something. But until then, there are no laws. It's wild to me, because they don't. On a normal basis, they don't call Portland police to come into the area. They make. Even if you're calling an ambulance for some reason, they make you go get the ambulance two blocks away. They won't bring them into the area. So the fact that they were Portland cops there yesterday, actual regular street cops, There was some reason, there was some order they were given to go into the area yesterday. Was that order related to me or other conservative journalists that were covering the story? That's what we're gonna try to find out here, because it was very weird to all of us on the ground to see them there just lurking and not doing anything about the fires that were being set and the vandalism that was actively happening in front of them. The only time they responded is when they wanted to arrest me.
Jack Posobec
So, Nick, we're just about out of time. Thank you. I'm glad you're safe. Thank you for what you're doing. Final question. Do you plan to go back?
Nick Sortor
Dude, I'm not leaving. I extended the hotel for another week. They're not gonna. They're not gonna get rid of me. It's gonna get worse for them.
Jack Posobec
Let's go. Nick Sortor. I. I didn't even. I had to ask the question, but there was no question in my mind. There was no doubt in my mind. Go follow Nick.
Nick Sortor
If there's.
Jack Posobec
If there you want to support Nick, make sure you go supporting him. X. Is that the spot, Nick?
Nick Sortor
That's the spot. Everybody else will just ban me.
Jack Posobec
All right? Nick Sortor, make sure you're following him. Support his work. Guy's a patriot. And he's a working journalist. One of the hardest working journalists in the country. Ladies and gentlemen, as always, you have my permission to lay ashore.
In this episode, Jack Posobiec focuses on the recent arrest of journalist Nick Sortor in Portland during violent protests outside an ICE facility, contrasting the police’s treatment of journalists and conservative demonstrators versus Antifa. The episode delves into anarcho-tyranny, media hypocrisy, law enforcement's double standards, and features interviews with Nick Sortor, actor/pro-vocalist Kevin Sorbo, and Senator Markwayne Mullin regarding current political events and cultural concerns.
Nick Sortor (29:05):
"These antifa thugs hate when you video them... I'm a journalist. I'm going to show what is happening... They don't want the world to see that they're not actually these tough military type figures—they're actually just, you know... not the world's best and brightest."
The "targeted" arrest: Sortor was initially confused by his own arrest and says the police could not specify what he was being charged with for over an hour. Ultimately, he was charged with disorderly conduct, though police themselves reportedly were unsure of the specifics (33:03–34:06).
Nick Sortor (33:03):
"They were making it up as they went. And funny enough, ironically, Antifa is routinely doing all three [alleged actions]: blocking the road, blocking the sidewalk, or getting in a fight."
Aftermath and broader implications: Sortor says his arrest has drawn attention and support from prominent political figures and may lead to investigations into Portland law enforcement and calls for restoring order in blue cities.
Nick Sortor (39:14):
"This could potentially be a turning point in this city, one that has been ravaged with violence and lawlessness and Antifa terrorism for years now."
Jack Posobiec (03:18):
"If you go in and defend yourself... you will be arrested as they attack you. That's the tyranny... And the expression of the right to life is the right to self defense. But here's the problem: they deny your rights, your human rights, your God given rights..."
Kevin Sorbo (15:21):
"They put books out there to have positive messages... the complete opposite of what our public schools want to do..."
Senator Markwayne Mullin (22:13):
"They literally have given all the authority to President Trump. Now they're screaming about it..."
Senator Markwayne Mullin (23:26):
"A lie is sexier than the truth. And so they're saying that Medicaid payments aren't going to get paid... That's a lie... This fight is... for discretionary spending, so none of that will be disrupted."
Nick Sortor (47:39):
"Dude, I'm not leaving. I extended the hotel for another week. They're not gonna get rid of me. It's gonna get worse for them."
