Hank Green
Hello, John Green. What am I. What do you think I'm trying to do here? Well, first off, you don't have my blessing to start this podcast, but I'm happy to be here. Hi, I'm Hank Green. I've been making stuff on the Internet for almost 30 years now, and surprisingly, I've come out of the other side of that. Kind of a big fan of humans. I just don't think we give ourselves enough credit. We're kind of a new thing, something, as far as we know, the universe hasn't really tried before. And so it's not that weird that we're not always great at beating. Every day, I have to figure out how to be this strange, complicated, somewhat dangerous animal. And it turns out that's hard. So I'm starting a podcast. It's called Humans. Because I want to talk to people about living and about making sense of being. Such an odd thing.
John Green
There was some humor in it. There was some pathos, and then there was this incredible pain. The truth of who I am, the truth of who you are, it's not just solely contained in us. It's contained between us. It's between subjects.
Unidentified Guest 1
Together, we make one incredible person.
Hank Green
I'm gonna talk to people who are navigating success and ambition and celebrity. This stuff is dangerous because it's so powerful.
Unidentified Guest 2
The whole, like, oh, I hope a meteor comes and kills all of us. And then you go out and you smile at a barista, and then you kind of realize, maybe it's worth fighting for this one barista today. Maybe that's all it takes.
Hank Green
I just want to connect to other humans.

I'm playing Colin Firth, and you're playing Helen Hunt. Playing Helen Hunt. Yes. Perfect. This is not. I thought was gonna happen,

then maybe find some

magic. The fact that we have all of these pipes that reach up into our buildings and whisk away our shit. What a fucking miracle that is. Excuse my language.
Hank Green
And I'm gonna ask every one of them, what's something that you have learned from your work that you wish everyone on earth knew?
Unidentified Guest 3
I think the biggest thing. There's an idea that things can. It sounds so simple.
John Green
I. It's funny. My answer.
Unidentified Guest 3
Do you have an answer?
Hank Green
No. It's not about me. Well, it's my show, so it's a little bit about me. New episodes drop Thursday mornings starting June 4th. Available wherever you listen to podcasts, except for YouTube

for now. If you could somehow become a cult, I think the world would be better off.
Hank Green
I've resisted the cult, specifically, not something I'm interested in.
