This is H Vac Masters of the Hustle with your host, Jacob Moneymaker. Looking at the city like I already own it.
Tim Brown
What is up, y'all?
Jacob Moneymaker
You are listening to H Vac Masters of the Hustle podcast. Here's your host, J Dub Moneymaker, and welcome to the last studio. And, man, we're gonna let these guys in because we are out here having a blast in Northern California. We got Mr. Tim Brown. Tim Hook with hook agencies, and we got Fat Cheeto, AKA Trent Parker. First off, I just gotta say thank you all for coming because we also celebrated something very special yesterday, which was the grand opening of Royalty Heating and Air out here. How are those tick time? Probably. How are they?
Tim Brown
We're giving you asmr.
Trent Parker
I actually really love six packs orange. Okay.
Jacob Moneymaker
I don't feel like they're gonna break your teeth.
Trent Parker
I have tough teeth, like horse teeth.
Jacob Moneymaker
So. So let's talk about first yesterday, the Royalty event, the ribbon cutting. First off. Thank you, Tim, for comment. Cheeto.
Trent Parker
Yeah, I'd like to introduce Trent Parker here is in from Alabama.
Jacob Moneymaker
Oh, yeah.
Trent Parker
Roll Tide. That's Roll Tide.
Jacob Moneymaker
And then, Tim, you came from Minnesota.
Tim Brown
Well, actually, I'm in Austin right now. I'm kind of doing the. The double double dipping on the travel, double dip on.
Trent Parker
So.
Jacob Moneymaker
So why Austin, Texas?
Tim Brown
Austin is badass, dude. It has a. A very cool area called Barton Springs. So we're out there just setting up a Airbnb so that we can go, you know, be down there where it's. When it's really cold in Minnesota.
Jacob Moneymaker
Ah. So work smarter, not harder, right? Extra income. Streams of income.
Tim Brown
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Jacob Moneymaker
So for all of you, man, I'm just excited because the last couple days, you know, you guys have been here, we've been making content, content, content. Yesterday we were whiteboarding. So I think close to 11 o'clock last night.
Trent Parker
Yeah.
Jacob Moneymaker
People don't understand what it takes to. To make video content.
Trent Parker
I don't think that's true. Can I step in on this?
Tim Brown
Yeah, guys.
Trent Parker
Okay. The content, it does take a lot out of you because you got to use your brain and you use a lot of energy and it's hot and you've probably already done stuff all day, and then you spend the rest of the day trying to come up with something and pray that people watch it and enjoy it. But at the end of the day, it's very rewarding, I must say.
Jacob Moneymaker
You've been just blasting on YouTube the last 48 hours. 16 million views.
Trent Parker
Yes.
Jacob Moneymaker
Talk about that. Cheeto.
Trent Parker
I have worked two years to get monetized on YouTube. Finally, the YouTube gods have spoken like he shop ass. You know, I'm like, oh, well, thank you. Yeah, they finally allow me to do that. But, yeah, there's a whole new world out there on YouTube that are now discovering me. And so that's been pretty good. But, yeah, that's all I gotta say about that.
Jacob Moneymaker
So, Tim, you're. You're coming out here and we've been creating content the last couple days.
Tim Brown
Yes.
Jacob Moneymaker
What's your intention on coming out? I mean, you two are just. It is a wild, wild ride.
Tim Brown
I was.
Jacob Moneymaker
Wild ride.
Tim Brown
So we got a lot of stuff coming up, so look forward to a how to start an H Vac company video, which is in depth and very specific about the steps. And you guys helped build it, by the way, People on Facebook help build it with us because we asked you guys, or I asked you guys, what's the most important things. We tried to cover all those things so it can be a resource for new people. But people don't watch unless it's entertaining. So I. I feel like Trent and Jason made it very entertaining. We did a bunch of skits. We did a bunch of fun stuff. And those will also be out as, like, short form on Cheetah's platform and. And Hook Agency's platform. But there's a lot of skits in it. Just. Just to be more fun, because honestly, the is. I mean, it could be boring.
Jacob Moneymaker
I mean, let's talk. Talk about what has been Cheeto's favorite skit. Let's talk about everyone's favorite skit that we've done the last three days. So Cheeto.
Trent Parker
Thank you.
Jacob Moneymaker
Okay.
Tim Brown
Tim, I'm glad we muted him.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah. Right.
Trent Parker
Okay. Would you react to my favorite skit been so far?
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah.
Trent Parker
I want to say what's been a long 24 hours, and I'm trying to think. I think the one with the mannequin. The mannequin is so fun. Yeah. I cannot. I mean, I cannot wait to see the footage of the mannequin because I'm so excited. All right. Several days before I came here to California, I ordered a mannequin. And I was so stoked, and I was like, I can't wait to see this in person. It's beautiful. Mannequin. I know it's a mannequin. Well, first thing I see when I get here at Royalty Heating in there, he has the mannequin that I ordered, so I wanted to play with it, and he really played with it.
Tim Brown
And we got lotion. We Got. We did.
Jacob Moneymaker
My favorite scene was the lotion. So when I saw. I mean, the video is not even done. And just watching just the video itself had me.
Trent Parker
I would kind of like Tim to actually just go ahead and leave and edit it up. That way we can watch it.
Tim Brown
Yeah, exactly. I'm very excited. The. The premise is that Cheeto becomes a white shirt. He graduates to become a white shirt, and he starts doing white shirt activities. So there's a lot of lotion in the office. And. And it gets, you know, frankly, quite PG rated.
Trent Parker
Yes, I have. I'll give you a little hint. I have never been covered in lotion before.
Jacob Moneymaker
Head to toe.
Tim Brown
Before today.
Trent Parker
Before today. And actually you.
Jacob Moneymaker
Well, hang on. Talk about buying the lotion, because y'all just make that weird. Like, that was the most awkward. Three men standing in the line with a bottle of lotion.
Tim Brown
Jason is like, you know who has lotion?
Jacob Moneymaker
Ross Dress for Less.
Trent Parker
Yeah. It doesn't take. It doesn't take three men to walk into Ross, of all places, and then walk to the lotion after, like, hey, where's Yalls lotion? And then I realized, like, I don't think that looked too good.
Tim Brown
Yeah. And then what? We ended up getting shea butter soap instead, which had, like, sparkles in it for some reason. I don't know why.
Trent Parker
Gonorrhea and chunks.
Tim Brown
That was interesting. I didn't really understand. I think they said it was, you know, what is it when it kind of scrapes your skin a little?
Jacob Moneymaker
Cleans a little bit.
Tim Brown
Yeah. I don't know why that takes dead skin off.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah, I think that's.
Tim Brown
I don't want to scrub, you know, with my soap or my lotion.
Trent Parker
Can I. Can I make, like, two confessions right here?
Tim Brown
Probably not.
Jacob Moneymaker
Should I mute them?
Trent Parker
No, actually, number one, if you know me, I hate lotion with a passion.
Tim Brown
Really?
Trent Parker
Yes. Like, terribly hate it.
Tim Brown
I'm glad we put it all over you today.
Trent Parker
Yes. That's. You can, like, Lisa will tell you I hate lotion. She offers to put it on. I have eczema. And she like. And I'm like, no, I'll just rather suffer. The second thing I was going to confess is my. My face started going numb when I put that lotion on my face.
Tim Brown
Really?
Trent Parker
Yeah. Yeah. Kid you not.
Tim Brown
Now I know why you hate lotion. Yeah, you go numb.
Trent Parker
Like, it was weird. It's like I'm going numb. Am I having a stroke?
Tim Brown
Huh?
Trent Parker
Yeah.
Tim Brown
So lotion. The dangers of lotion, kids.
Trent Parker
It could really harm you.
Jacob Moneymaker
Hey, I'm excited. To see Cheeto graduate, see what a white shirt position actually looks like him in that white shirt role.
Trent Parker
Well, I'll tell you what. I will never be a white shirt in real life.
Tim Brown
But please, please bring that character back, though. Like, that's a good character. That's a funny character.
Trent Parker
It really is.
Tim Brown
And then Harry. Harry the homeowner. That's a new one.
Jacob Moneymaker
Harry the homeowner.
Tim Brown
Harry and I want to, like, invite the audience. Anyone watching this come live.
Jacob Moneymaker
We could talk.
Tim Brown
You guys, what are the funny things that homeowners have done to you? And ultimately, Harry the homeowner can continue. Could continue. I don't know if. If you guys like the skits, then Harry the homeowner could continue as a character that fat Cheeto does. I think that'll be.
Jacob Moneymaker
So I just want to give some shout outs real quick. Danny Hernandez, she was at the ribbon cutting yesterday. She says. I could only imagine. Man, y'all must. Danny.
Trent Parker
Danny. Danny's my new friend.
Jacob Moneymaker
Best friend.
Tim Brown
Yes, my best friend.
Jacob Moneymaker
Oh, you make me live, Brandon style. What is up, brother? He said, Mr. Fat Cheeto is the man. Tim Brown sucks. Sorry, Tim. Let's see. We got Jackie Wackler is watching.
Trent Parker
It's Whacker.
Jacob Moneymaker
Whacker.
Trent Parker
Whacker, Not Wackler.
Jacob Moneymaker
Where'd you come up with Whacker?
Trent Parker
I don't think I can sit down here. All right, that's the end of this interview.
Jacob Moneymaker
But I mean, seriously, y'all, y'all came for a purpose and a reason. And the reason is, is to spread the love of what we all do. I mean, to come together because we create good content, we have a great following, and we do what's right.
Trent Parker
Dude, you wrote me a check for 10 grand to be here.
Tim Brown
We did make it where it's gonna be a pretty baller thing, though. And I do want to thank Ishmael Valdez. Because of him, he, you know, helped me get out here as well, and that. That makes it more fun. And New Big has a shout out in the video as well.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yes.
Tim Brown
And thank you for making this kind of fun. And thanks for, you know, I mean, partnering on this video, particularly on the how to Get Started with the H Vac Company video.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah, the video is cool. As you all know, our journey right now with royalty, a lot of people are either fearful of starting a business. They don't know how to start a business. They're just going in there blind. Maybe they're a great technician, a great sales professional, great installer, but we. We really go behind the scenes. And Tim even got me to. To really think deep and really get, like, not. Not emotional deep, but, like, I mean, share the challenges.
Tim Brown
I think challenge. I always real. I always push people to share the challenges because, you know, social media can be a highlight reel where we're always just talking about what's positive. I think one of the most generous things we can do is share the challenges as we have them. And I'm like. As I'm saying it, I'm like, oh, I need to do that more. But, like, Jason shares some of the deeper challenges, the difficult things that are going on right now with starting this company. I think that that's generous, though. And I was telling them as we were talking about, I'm like, you will enjoy watching this more in 10 years if you get real with me, dude. If you get real with me, you're going to enjoy watching this because you're going to look back and be like, you're right. That was tough. That. These are the real things that were tough about having a comp. Like starting a company from scratch. Yeah. People think that money is all it takes, and Jason started with a little bit more money than your average H Vac company owner. But I'll tell you what, starting a company is a crisis of confidence, and you have to, like, literally have a lot of. That's real.
Jacob Moneymaker
Tito, you're blocking his camera.
Trent Parker
Oh, sorry. I'm sorry.
Tim Brown
What.
Jacob Moneymaker
Let's see, Tim, what has been one of your biggest challenges coming from roofing.
Tim Brown
Yeah.
Jacob Moneymaker
To H Vac.
Tim Brown
Yeah.
Jacob Moneymaker
Because one thing that you and I were talking about real quick and sorry to cut you off, was talking about you been in the H Vac side for almost a year. About a year. Right. And you've been diving deep. You've been having really good momentum, but I feel like you could have better traction.
Tim Brown
Yeah. Well, I'll say this is breaking into any new market.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yes.
Tim Brown
Any new market is going to take 10 times the effort that you think it's going to take. So what I do is I go, I'm like, I am applying a lot of effort. That being said, anytime there isn't as like, we've had a good amount of opportunities, but a little lower close rate just because we. Our examples are in different kinds of contractors. So that's sometimes something that people think about a lot. And at the end of the day, I think we have no problem getting prospects into the funnel. So it's. At that point, it's tweaking the sales process and tweaking the positioning at the End of the transaction. I think that that's why I always like to pick your brain, because I'm like, what could I be doing better to make sure that the right customers actually turn into customers? What I was telling you is that we're picky.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah.
Tim Brown
And so being picky, it we. We already cut off, like 80% of the prospects that come to us on purpose. And that's. That's unusual, maybe, but it's also like, kind of what we want. We want to be selective about the customers we like. So how do you. If you're getting more selective, let's say, as an H Vac company or any kind of business, what can you do in your sales process to make sure you have a higher close rate with the folks that you really, really want when you. When you do have specific things that you really, really want?
Jacob Moneymaker
Sorry, I'm trying to get it.
Trent Parker
Oh, yeah. Tim, you're really boring. I'm just kidding. I love you, man. I'm glad I'm actually out here with you in California. I recently did a podcast with him and it was really fun.
Tim Brown
I'll just jump in on yours. Jason. You can get rid of that.
Trent Parker
Yeah, you can.
Tim Brown
You can. I'll just pop up next to you.
Trent Parker
Ladies and gentlemen. What's going on here? We having a little technical difficulties. If you could just bear with us, we'll be up and running right away.
Tim Brown
I could. I could handle being in this seat. This is. This is nice. This is nice. Yeah, I think that's actually a useful. Oh, God. I feel like that's a useful topic. Can you give me that? If you. If you're a very selective business owner, let's say, that's trying to work with customers, but you're selective. Do you coach people to drop that selectivity or do you. Because you know what I'm saying, Like.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah, I don't want to waste my time.
Tim Brown
Yeah.
Jacob Moneymaker
So I mean, and it's. It's all. What do you mean when I want.
Tim Brown
To waste your time?
Jacob Moneymaker
When I talk to. So you're talking about talking to prospects.
Tim Brown
Yes.
Jacob Moneymaker
Right. And. And if you feel like it, maybe not worth your time, but they don't.
Tim Brown
It's not always that they don't have money. And sometimes it's that they don't understand the value.
Jacob Moneymaker
Not even the value. When I talk about wasting time, implementing, holding your people accountable. Right. Like, there's so much that goes involved when it comes to the training game that I look at. So there's certain. When I sit on zooms. Right. The thing that makes H vac Masters the Hustle is when I first started, it was a grind. And so I would take on every single client. You call me, let's do it on site. Let's do this. Let's do this. Now, I could be so selective, but I had to grow it. So. So now I have the opportunity where I could pick and choose. It's not like, oh, I need the money. Let's go on site over here. Now I get to work with the. The contractors and the business owners that truly want to grow. And I could tell when they truly want to grow by those conversations. I used to.
Tim Brown
I think I'm used to that selectivity over in the other niche.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah.
Tim Brown
So coming over here, it's weird to. It's weird to still be selective, you know what I mean? Almost. Because it's like in a new market, you want to get market share as soon as possible.
Jacob Moneymaker
And that's correct. Going into a new market right now. Me, I had to find the niche in plumbing.
Trent Parker
Yeah.
Tim Brown
What do you mean?
Jacob Moneymaker
That was hard to. To move into a whole different trade, going from H vac to plumbing. I do a lot of plumbing training, but it took me probably a good three years to settle in with different plumbing companies where they now call me out regularly. And it used to be back in the day, who are you? What do you do?
Tim Brown
Like, and you just closed or you're working with a new client that called you today, which is dope.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah. So check this out, y'all. Having Tim out here, his video creation of what he's able to do with his editing and how quick he's able to do it. We were able to sign up here, a local company, because they saw a video that we did yesterday morning, called me up, they thought that I was in Southern California. They know that I'm here, and they sign up for two day, $20,000 on site.
Tim Brown
And if you haven't seen it, our video together, the Day in the life of plumbers and the plumbing sales Training video on YouTube.
Jacob Moneymaker
On YouTube.
Tim Brown
Hook Agency Plumbing sales training. I think it's ranking for plumbing sales.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah.
Tim Brown
The top actually really good trainings in person. And it was really cool to see that in person and watch what you did and just incredible coaching. And in the field coaching, it gets, I don't know, just involved you.
Jacob Moneymaker
You got to see, like, the real, real training on site. Tim flew out with me a couple months ago, went to All City out in Southern California, got in the trenches, went, and we really were like swimming in shit.
Tim Brown
I. I almost. I almost touched a piece of corn.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah, you did.
Trent Parker
I would have ate it.
Jacob Moneymaker
You would. Cheeto would have ate it.
Tim Brown
Just give it a little brush off. This thing had been down there for a second, though.
Trent Parker
Maybe not.
Jacob Moneymaker
What. What's gross about plumbers, I think, is being around the. But they eat lunch around the. Like those.
Tim Brown
Those installers right there, Dude.
Trent Parker
I tell people, though, don't get discouraged about wanting to become a plumber or anything, because there's so many different things.
Jacob Moneymaker
They make a lot of money.
Trent Parker
I mean, you got plumbing engineers, you got people that do gas map gas that are certified to weld that together. There's so many different types of. In areas of plumbing that you can go into, and that's also. With H vac, it's not just crawling an attic. There's the engineering field all the way down to the csr. You know, there's so many areas, or the content creator or there's so many openings. And never get discouraged about if that's what you want to do is what I tell people. And that is not sponsored by anybody. Thank you.
Tim Brown
That's good.
Trent Parker
Yeah.
Tim Brown
Yeah, that's. That's the message right there.
Jacob Moneymaker
I think also the message is that us three, all through social media, the Internet, have became really good friends.
Trent Parker
That's the power of the Internet, what.
Jacob Moneymaker
You'Re able to do.
Tim Brown
Right.
Jacob Moneymaker
It's crazy when we get together. I mean, we were in Chicago, right? That was the first time all three of us, I think, were together all at one time.
Trent Parker
Well, where were you?
Tim Brown
In Chicago.
Jacob Moneymaker
Ahr.
Tim Brown
Oh, yeah. I don't think I didn't get to see him.
Jacob Moneymaker
You already. You took off? Yeah.
Tim Brown
You. You.
Jacob Moneymaker
We're. You took off.
Trent Parker
I was being like a celeb at that moment.
Jacob Moneymaker
No, you. You jumped on a plane home. You were tired of being in Chicago. Yeah, I remember I was picking him up for breakfast, and I'm like, hey, where you at? He's like, text me. I'm on my flight.
Tim Brown
So I'm gonna be on ahr with Tito this next year.
Jacob Moneymaker
Orlando.
Tim Brown
Oh, that's. That's. Oh, yeah. Not Chicago this time. God, everything's in Orlando all the time this year.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah. I feel like it's either Vegas or Florida.
Trent Parker
I tell you what, I am looking forward to Orlando because I've never been to Orlando, and I only live six hours away from Orlando. This. Yeah.
Jacob Moneymaker
Are you driving? Are you?
Tim Brown
Fine, but it's just.
Trent Parker
I think I'd rather drive to Orlando because, you know, a long drive. I know, I know. I May fly. If it's just me, I may fly. But if Lisa goes with me, I'll fly.
Jacob Moneymaker
So you're flying.
Trent Parker
So I'm probably gonna fly.
Jacob Moneymaker
So I mean. So, Tim, one thing. Let's talk about this real quick because we have all gone to a lot of events. Okay. Yeah, a lot of events. Especially the last couple years. Especially this year. Cheeto, you've gone outside your bubble and everything.
Trent Parker
A lot of them.
Jacob Moneymaker
So one thing that we were talking about, though, is events could get overwhelming. You know, being on the road all the time, going to the different events. One thing Tim, was you were talking about yesterday with me was you're limiting how much event you're going to. Cheeto, you're probably doing that as well this year. Talk about.
Tim Brown
I think for me, it's a little bit around the. If I exhibit because exhibiting is expensive. It's a good chunk of money as a brand and stuff like that. So sometimes I'm just like, well, I'll just travel out and go do content. So I like that. I feel like that's a fun way to go travel and do events, is just to go be more.
Jacob Moneymaker
I feel like that creator, I. I feel like content creating ad events goes so much further than sitting at a booth. Oh, I kind of agree 100%. And if anyone. Yes.
Trent Parker
I tell you what my problem is, and I didn't mean to interrupt you.
Jacob Moneymaker
Good.
Trent Parker
My problem is with events, I never get to enjoy them because you get mom.
Jacob Moneymaker
But he does get mob the second they see him.
Trent Parker
He's like the last hr. One reason I wanted to go is because I didn't. I mean, I wanted to actually enjoy the event a little bit, but I didn't. I wasn't able to.
Tim Brown
It's interesting how few contractors are at ahr. Like, it's very few. Like, literally, there's like khakis. Khakis, Khakis, khakis. Like, well, it's like manufacturers and reps.
Trent Parker
Engineers, engineers.
Jacob Moneymaker
I felt like it was a lot of people from a lot of man.
Trent Parker
There is a lot of, like, even the Jewish community.
Jacob Moneymaker
Russians.
Trent Parker
Russians. They were Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese.
Jacob Moneymaker
It was cool, though, because it was the future of the trade. That's what I liked about ahr.
Tim Brown
It's just. I love. I do like these ones. Like, I like really hardcore training events.
Jacob Moneymaker
I like.
Tim Brown
Like, if I'm thinking about contractors, what they should be at. I think you should go to hardcore training events. And then I think these expos are pretty sweet because then you get to go and like, look at all the real new products? Well, like the actual, like, physical products and like, look at them and ask the people about the specifics.
Trent Parker
Well, there's a lot of some. What I've seen with Ahr when it comes to contractors, usually like a contractor and he brings like one or two of his employees, you know, or something like that. There is contractors. I mean, there is a lot of contractors that show up.
Tim Brown
This is like 1 out of 10 now.
Trent Parker
But a lot of it, it feels like to me, what you're saying is manufacturers and people to sell the products that, you know, to buy the. To resell. Am I making sense?
Tim Brown
Yes. I think the reason I think about it so much is because I do the man on the street style content with the mic right up to random people. And like when I'm at an event and I'm trying to, like, talk to like a contractor and I put. And no one is for like a bunch of tries, right? And I'm like, oh, man. It's funny how at events sometimes we're all like, it's just a bunch of people selling to each other. That's. That's funny. Well, yeah, it's got like. And I'm saying, like, they're. They're trying to sell to. I don't know, I guess it makes sense that they're. It's okay if there's not contractors, but it's just funny when there's none.
Trent Parker
Have you ever seen those little tents? The, like the Japanese and Chinese setup? And they'll have these meetings with other companies while they're there. Have you seen that?
Tim Brown
Yeah. Customers must be there, right?
Trent Parker
Yeah. Whatever's going on there or whatever. Like selling chips or something.
Tim Brown
Yeah.
Trent Parker
Microchips.
Tim Brown
The videos that did the best for me last time were around the tankless water heater brands. There's a lot of. Apparently there's a lot. Like, there's not a lot of YouTube content out there. So just going up to the people and be like, hey, what's new with this tankless water heater? Both of those, like the Renai and one other one did really, really well on YouTube. And it's like, literally, it's a very boring video.
Jacob Moneymaker
Well, let's talk about that real quick because a lot of people on social media trying to start video content creating. Right. What are two tips that you could give someone that's wanting to start?
Trent Parker
Stay away from my content.
Jacob Moneymaker
Why?
Trent Parker
Because it's mine.
Tim Brown
I like, I think I. I would say. I think it should. I think skits are good. Right? I think. But a Lot of contractors need to just go put their camera on real stuff. Like it's demonstration and bingo, real stuff. You see, I'm a vendor. I'm in the office. It's boring. I'm doing boring. Nothing I point my camera at in my office is going to get that many views. But you are a contractor. You have the ability to go on a job site and just show exactly what you're doing. And then there's opportunity. Like, people love watching tool videos even if they roast them. And that's okay. Embrace the cringe. People are. It's fine if people roast or are negative about your comment or your content. Fine.
Trent Parker
I agree with you. Anything that's real life. Repair, fix it. Shows inside the customer's house, shows real life. People want to see real life, you know, and they want to see funny skits as well. But whatever content creation you want to get into, get with that and stick to that. You know, that's. Find your own niche. The word niche, you know, find.
Jacob Moneymaker
You had to find yours.
Trent Parker
Yeah. I mean, if. If you. I've learned with the algorithm and everything, if you. All right, if I start making H vac videos and then tomorrow I just swap and go something that's not in the trade industry to like making, you know, slapstick comedy and whole nother ball game of tags, it's going to be a just a drop video. But staying in a. YouTube is trying to find you an audience when you post a video. What I've learned, they're trying to find you and your audience.
Jacob Moneymaker
So they're trying to find it for you.
Trent Parker
Like when you use this and correct me if I'm wrong, Tim, when you watch something on Tick Tock or anything, it learns you. It learns what? Like content you're watching. So when you post, it's trying to push out that to those people. And when you have that large audience, start gaining your own audience. That's what they're there for. I mean, they want to see that.
Tim Brown
It doesn't want you to take a sharp right turn to something else.
Trent Parker
And I've made those mistakes.
Tim Brown
Yeah, several times.
Trent Parker
And it could be like that for. It may not be like that for everybody, but that's just my own experience with it.
Tim Brown
I think you got to know who it's for.
Trent Parker
There you go. That's the word.
Tim Brown
You have a local audience that you're trying to make content for. Try to make more locally local stuff. Stuff that relates and pertains to them. I think that that's okay to branch out. Like if you're a contractor to branch out to more just local and weather related topics that are that right. Would appeal to the people that it's for. It is a distraction sometimes for a contractor to constantly be focused on virality.
Trent Parker
Yeah.
Tim Brown
And there are a lot. There's a temptation to care and I would say there's three tiers. Right. There's okay, we're, we're posting, getting 200 views on everything. It's kind of boring to post because there's not enough people seeing it.
Trent Parker
Right.
Tim Brown
There's oh, we're going Viral A lot. 2 million, 10 million, 20 million views. That is so broad. Right? So many. It is good for people like you and you're. You're getting monetized and other things that are really good for you. But for the average contractor, they need to find that sweet spot where it's like if you could reach 5,000, 10,000 people in Roseville, California, if you could focus on those people and trying to make content for those people. That's where I think there's money to be made in the, in the home services industry. I think that there's a, a certain amount of people like we get distracted by the views. I know that that's like the contractors do and I know I do too sometimes. I like want virality. But what I really need to focus on is those 10,000 contractors that we can help.
Trent Parker
It is easy to get distracted with the views. Sometimes I have to kick myself and focus more on my audience. The audience that I already have and gaining future audience. That way eventually you grow the audience. The views will come. I mean.
Tim Brown
Yeah.
Trent Parker
Am I making.
Tim Brown
No, no, you make sense. A lot of contract, I would say the average person though, because you've already figured this out. You made content for random people on the Internet originally. Like originally, originally you weren't like, all right, I'm gonna go send this to my a want and she's gonna love this.
Trent Parker
Right.
Tim Brown
You know, so there's there you first. You do have to have a little bit of that. I'm gonna do it for random people like that. It would be funny to random people, not to my friends.
Trent Parker
Right.
Tim Brown
Because that's what I think A lot of people, if they try to do funny, right, they're kind of like, oh, this is funny to us. It's like you gotta, you can work on being funnier. Like you've obviously you. You started being. You started probably with a little bit at more average funny, but you probably worked to develop your funny.
Trent Parker
Right.
Tim Brown
And I think some people get confused like, they're like, oh, you can't try to be funny. You can't. What is a comedian doing? A comedian is. He writes his.
Trent Parker
He writes his joke.
Tim Brown
He's saying them over and over and over again in cities around the country. So he's. He's not coming up with everything.
Trent Parker
Oh, yeah.
Tim Brown
Spur of the moment. So we can all.
Jacob Moneymaker
Beer can.
Tim Brown
Cold and funny. And this is why I'm such an advocate for Trent, is because funny is. Is really, really important. Entertaining is really, really important. It's how we deal with things. And it's also like the trades being funnier and having more funny stuff. It honestly gets the word out about what you were talking about earlier about the opportunities in the trades, right?
Trent Parker
Yeah, there's. There's a lot of. A lot of opportunity in the trades. What was that?
Jacob Moneymaker
Bomb. Oh, bombs. Well, I, I agree. A lot of opportunity in the trades. A lot of opportunity in anything that someone's willing to take action on, I think. But I just gotta say, y'all, thank you. I'm gonna end the podcast because we got a lot of things that we're going to be doing today. And I just gotta say, you know, Tim, thank you for your expertise of everything that you're doing. Hook agencies, you guys are badass. I love seeing you going from different trade to trade to trade and just blowing up Cheeto. We've been friends for about a year and a half now, brother. Anything that you do, I'll see you in two weeks in Alabama. You got some big things coming up. You got some.
Trent Parker
Yeah. Can I make a couple of announcements? September 6th, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I will be at Cooling Solutions group all day doing a meet and greet. That's right, a meet and greet. I'll have. It's a free event. I'll have merch. There'll be food. It will be some awesome stuff. I'll be doing content. I'll be running around and a special guest is going to be there as well. The wonderful baby of mine, Ms. Lisa.
Jacob Moneymaker
Yeah, y'all been doing a lot of videos together.
Trent Parker
Yes. We got the gold package.
Jacob Moneymaker
There you go.
Trent Parker
The go.
Jacob Moneymaker
What's next for you?
Tim Brown
Tim, I have to do a little mental math here for a second. What is next for me? I know I'm gonna be a Home service freedom and San Diego. Yeah, I'm gonna be. I'm gonna just show up deep with contractors from Minnesota and Home service freedom. I'm not doing.
Jacob Moneymaker
I wish I was going. I was already booked for an on site site. Yeah, I really good event. I know.
Tim Brown
That's gonna be a really good event.
Jacob Moneymaker
I know.
Trent Parker
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for the invite.
Tim Brown
And I'm gonna be hanging out with Joe. Uncle Joe at Pantheon and Rilla, because they ball out as well. We will be balling out. Who knows what they got going on. But it's usually crazy. So we're gonna create a bunch of man on the street style content at Pantheon.
Trent Parker
You and Uncle Joe.
Tim Brown
Yes.
Trent Parker
Wow.
Jacob Moneymaker
That's gonna turn out crazy.
Trent Parker
Uncle Joe's gonna be like. So let me tell you, hey, Uncle.
Jacob Moneymaker
Joe could do a Elvis impress Elvis Presley impersonation and sing just like him. I'm just want to let you all know when we did the Elvis is not dead.
Tim Brown
It is Uncle Joker, sir.
Jacob Moneymaker
Oh, yeah. No, you got to hear him sing.
Trent Parker
Here's Uncle Joe. Sorry. Would you. We're out of fries.
Jacob Moneymaker
What should we do?
Trent Parker
Well, what should we do?
Jacob Moneymaker
I took your line.
Trent Parker
Yeah, yeah. What should we do?
Jacob Moneymaker
All right, y'all, until next time, thank you for tuning in late. Oh, yeah. Check out the content. It's gonna be.
