Matt, Cheryl Snow, and Ugly Dave break down HYROX Atlanta and how the on-site vibe compares to the early Chicago majors. We look at live streams from the weekend, why crowds ebb and flow, and what is working for coverage. Matt recaps his HYROX Doubles with Clayton, including the extra lap mix-up, the hamstring twinge on lunges, wall balls to close, and the post-race food adventure. We also talk Phoenix and Vegas ticket timing, Atlanta attendance, and why random testing in Europe matters for the sport. Plus quick LT Games notes, judging consistency, and what to expect next. There’s a full HYROX Sim happening in Windsor. Gideon from Hesman Athletics and Performance came on to talk about how they “built this event from the ground up to mimic the real race-day experience — from the venue to the pacing, transitions, and judging standards.” He also shares how they’re making the sport accessible for everyone, including 200-pound women and 300-pound plus dudes. That includes a division that swaps Assault Bikes in for running, and the launch of a TRYROX division — featuring “shorter runs, lighter weights, and a supportive environment focused on completing, not competing.” Then we chat with Rich Ryan, shortly after he got back from this year’s HYROX World Champs in Chicago. His singles and doubles races didn’t go as planned. We talk about our shared experience in Chicago, how those races went down, and what we think of some of the new HYROX announcements for next season. I first met Gus at ATHX in Birmingham. Actually, I first heard him. This powerful voice with a fascinating accent was coming through the loudspeakers while I was pushing myself to exhaustion during ATHX two years ago. I later learned that he brings that booming voice and big personality to fitness races and competitions all over the world. I wanted to bring him on the show to hear more about his story and how he ended up in this space. What I got was so much more. He shared how he came to the UK with hardly any money and no English, did whatever it took to survive, and eventually thrived as a coach and business owner. Plus, we talk about the new training program he’s launched with Chris Hinshaw. Today’s episode is sponsored by Amazfit – Amazfit is the official timekeeper and wearable partner of HYROX.
