The Democratic establishment and the Republicans are going apeshit bananas over the New York City mayoral decisive win of Zoran Mamdani. And AOC has a great clip here that I want to play for you.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Guys just about Mr. Mamdani as an individual. This is about the message that the people of New York City are trying to send to our party. And particularly in the fact that the entire Democratic establishment, when given a broad range of candidates to support across, across all sorts of different ideas, still decided to stubbornly choose Andrew Cuomo, who is a leader, who has been a leader for a very long time, when the people are clearly asking for generational change. You know, I think it speaks to the fact that I think a lot of those lessons do need to be learned and I hope that they're learned soon.
Political Commentator
Okay. I think she has such a good point that the Democratic establishment stubbornly put out Andrew Cuomo, which completely negates every argument that Democrats have against Donald Trump. He is corrupt. You know, issues with sexual abuse of women. And this shows how fearful the Democratic establishment is of actually doing what Bernie wanted to do, actually having a party that is for the people. But what's really at the core here is all of the APAC lobbying money. And so many Democrats are compromised on this. And we all need to be crystal clear on this. There is a huge difference between being a supporter of Jewish people and wanting them to live with dignity and security and safety, to not be exposed to anti Semitism and bigotry. That is one issue that I think everybody agrees upon. But the Israeli government is horrific. These are horrific, horrific people. And no one on the planet is exposing Jewish people and making them less safe than the Israeli government. Right now, Benjamin Netanyahu is taking the Jewish cause back decades and decades and decades. This man is a monster. AIPAC is always up Democrats ass about this person's anti Semitic, this person's anti Semitic. They're rarely the Anti Defamation League, they're rarely up Trump's ass. Class about Elon Musk doing two sick heils, the pardoning of a man who wears a camp Auschwitz jersey, the marches in Charlottesville, the boat parades with Nazi flags, all of the Nazi imagery that is always floating around the Proud Boys and all the anti Semitism on the right. So it's. And they're trying to own these Democratic politicians and the Democratic base. And this, these, this man's ideas are not radical. What's so interesting is on the right, they want to tell you he's this radical Sharia law Muslim, but he wants to make New York City a sanctuary city for LGBTQIA plus people. And in my state, there are so many people that need sanctuary because our governor and our superintendent of school bully people that are gay bully lesbians, bully trans kids and they try to make them less safe. And so this is not going to float. And the Democrats need to keep pounding every single politician that is compromised by AIPAC money. Mamdani is not an anti Semite. The anti Semitism lives in the Republican Party and it is just such bullshit and everybody is seeing through it. No one is making Israel and Jewish people less safe than the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. All right, next up, here's a tweet from a guy who's completely MAGA meltdown. This guy that he, he posts the New York Post, who is Ramadi, and she is the wife of the New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. And they met on Hinge, which is a really popular way that a lot of people meet now. And this MAGA right winger responds to the New York Post, if your wife doesn't take your last name, you shouldn't even be allowed to own property, let alone run for office. Lmao. And Evan loves Warf says right when you're seeing anything, wow, I hate women. And this is always the messaging that goes back. There's so much projection they want to project that somehow this man who wants to fight for everybody, for gay people, for Jewish people, for Muslim people, he wants to fight for everybody. His wife doesn't take his last name. And that's the stage five meltdown that they have. Furthermore, it is insane that that Democratic politicians, and quite frankly the APAC and the Anti Defamation League isn't speaking out against the Islamophobic attacks on this mayoral candidate. It's total you all of all of these things, all of this bigotry has to be fought together. And it always seems like there's cherry picking from APAC and cherry picking from the Anti Defamation League. And you eat the attacks that have the Islamophobic attacks on this mayor. Every single Democratic sitting politician, center left, whatever your positioning, Ed, should be speaking out and covering this man, even if you don't agree with all of his policy. So that is just Something that I think is super rich. Next up, we have the candidate himself talking about affordability. And listen to how principled he is.
Zohran Mamdani
The policies that I've run on are ones that I will deliver. And there's room for negotiation, there's room for compromise, but not on the outcomes of making this city more affordable. And it's been so exciting in the last few days to see the new endorsements that our campaign has received from Congressman Jerry Nadler, from State Senator Brad Hoyman Siegel from Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine. These are the very New Yorkers who have been fighting for these kinds of issues for quite some time. And to be in one fight with them is incredibly exciting.
Political Commentator
And so you're starting to see the principled candidates come out and support this man. But do you hear what he said? He will compromise on some issues, but on income inequality and making the city of New York City more affordable for everyone and not just millionaires and billionaires, he will not compromise on that. And that's what people want. They want principled politicians. And even deep in the heart of maga, there is some recognition that his economic populist message is a winner. Listen to Steve Bannon talking to Marjorie.
Steve Bannon
Taylor Greene, a sophisticated racist. And he focused on affordability and he addressed their issues. Now his response, he took the, the, the, the, the, the anger or the, the moment of populism and got engaged with people. Cuomo ran a traditional thing. This kid ran a very sophisticated campaign, a very sophisticated campaign on the grassroots.
Political Commentator
Okay? So even MAGA is recognizing that this is a vulnerability for establishment candidates. And Steve Bannon is a nut and he's, I mean, just horrific. But I do believe he understands political strategy and I do believe he understands that there is an intersection where there are some people in the MAGA base. I'm talking about rural Americans that have always been dicked over by establishment. Their wages haven't been raised, they have a hard time access, accessing health. And then the working class Democrats, there's an intersection where a populist message from Bernie Sanders, from AOC and now Zohran Mamdani that a lot of common ground can be found because at the end of the day, the MAGA cult, yeah, they'll go bananas over seven trans athletes till the day they die. They're going to die on that hill. They're never going to vote any differently than what the right wing media echo chamber tells them to vote. But a lot of people aren't engaged in the 24 hour news cycle all the time. And the Democrats Establishment, it is tick tock. I mean, you guys need to either jump on board or go join MAGA or, or start your own party because the base of this party doesn't want to compromise anymore. We don't want politicians that are beholden to apac, which is beholden to a mass murderer, war criminal does that does nothing but endangered Jewish people worldwide. No one is more dangerous to Jewish people right now than the actions of Benjamin Netanyahu because they are indefensible, completely indefensible. And he's doing all of this stuff to cling on to power. Okay, lastly, I'm going to leave you with this. I thought this was a great tweet. Melanie Dirigio tweets, Zohran Mamdani's plan to tax the rich is a 2% tax on income, tax over 1 million. If you make 1.1 million, you'd pay an extra $2,000. And she says rather cleverly, I think watching workingclass conservatives and politicians completely melt down about this is wild. And this is going to be the final push. They called Bernie a radical socialist for years. They called Barack Obama a radical Ken Kenyan communist socialist for years. And Barack Obama was far more corporate Democrat than Bernie. But at the end of the day, Bernie's issues are not radical. Making wage equality something. When you see this egregious, disgusting wedding of Jeff Bezos over in Venice and even the Venetians are appalled at having him his brazen wealth when the world is breaking and wage gaps are just spreading and spreading and it's become such a great divide. So this is going to be a moment where we see and we'll do roll call on which Democratic politicians step up to the plate and get on board. Because I think if they're going to be corporate Democrats, they're going to lose exactly the way Hillary Clinton did. They're going to lose exactly the way Kamala Harris did. And for the record, Kamala Harris was progressive. I think it's the Democratic establishment that got in her ear and gave her the centrist strategy that led to the election defeat. And we cannot let these corporate Democrats, these centrist Democrats that don't believe in anything that are completely compromised handle the midterms or handle the 2028 election. Okay, that's all we have for today. I'll see you all later.
