They're all yours. All you have to do is book early. Book with Verbo. Good morning. Yesterday, Trump said he doesn't ever think about Americans. We've all known this. We've all known this since 2015. But now, considering he's in his deathbed era, he's now saying the quiet part out loud. Constantly and consistently play the clip when you're negotiating with Iran. Mr. President, to what extent are American financial situations motivating you to make a deal?
Conservative Commentator
Not even a little bit. The only thing that matters when I'm talking about Iran, they can't have a nuclear weapon. I don't think about America's financial situation. I don't think about anybody. I think about one thing. We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That's all.
Progressive Host
Iran didn't have a nuclear weapon. This is a rock all over again. He is getting fed information from his golfing buddy Steve Witkoff, his son in law Jared Kushner, and war criminal homicidal purveyor of now we know via the New York Times, leader of an IDF that engages in a lot of sexual assault, Benjamin Netanyahu. That is our partner, that is our ally in this. These people are liars. The American economy was at a trajectory with Biden to be the strongest economy in the world. This man has screwed it up so exponentially because what he said right there is 100% true. He doesn't ever think about the lives of Americans.
Co-host Angie
Angie, I just found it just exactly on point that he said the quiet part out loud. And when you think about this war, they're covering up satellite images because they don't want the American public to see the destruction. They're lying about the cost. And then you have Trump, they all go on and on about, well, they don't want Iran to have nuclear weapons. They didn't. We are now trying to get back to where the Strait of Hormuz is open, which it was before. So at most, this expensive and illegal war is going to just put us back to where we started, not to
Progressive Host
mention, like the erosion of our allies around the world. And I wouldn't blame any ally of the United States that was an ally of ours two or three years ago to just say, look, you guys are not trustworthy. You have a portion of your electorate that votes for fascism, that votes against their economic interests, that votes for authoritarian ideals that, that rubber stamps this. You have a percentage of your Congress that goes along with all of this insanity. A huge percentage of your Congress are Christian nationalists that are telling your military that this is a, you know, God's war and the, the apocalypse and all this is coming along. So wouldn't blame, I wouldn't blame any of these allies if they abandon us, because this is just absolute superpower suicide face plan. And here's how the Republicans are responding. Have a comment about that, mostly because I think he actually does care.
Conservative Commentator
Donald Trump saying that he doesn't think about American, the American people's financial situation. He just said in the presser about an hour and a half ago.
Progressive Host
Well, I didn't see that. You haven't seen it yet. Got it.
Conservative Commentator
On what Trump just said at his presser. I don't know what he just said. Well, he said he doesn't think much about the finances of the American people. I, I would have to find out
Progressive Host
the context of it. I'm sorry. What I'm more interested in than what Republicans say is what are Democrats saying? Because I expected every single clip that we saw there is not new to me. It's not unique, it's not novel. This news cycle has been going on for 11 years. Trump says outlandish things. Republicans defend, say, oh, he didn't mean it that way. Oh, nudge, nudge. He's such a jokester. Or I haven't seen it. So this is a very stale, boring, predictable news cycle for me. What I'm more interested in is what is the opposition saying? Because had Joe Biden said something like that or Barack Obama said something like that, it would be a stage five meltdown justifiably by the right and all of their media ecosystems. Instead, all of the news is very Republican centric. It's always ceding and capitulating ground to their narratives. I'm interested in what the opposition is saying. I'm interested in what the Democrats are saying. I'm interested in a country that lifts up the voices of sanity, truth, veracity and reality. This is absolutely outrageous how much the news centers around the lowest hanging fruit dipshits in America. What are the Democrats saying about this? What is, where is our opposition party to this?
Co-host Angie
Well, I haven't seen it.
Progressive Host
I have. I.
Co-host Angie
That doesn't mean it's not out there. But I look and I think about the messaging going forward. You have wage gains that have been eclipsed by costs. So American people are operating at a net loss in every area. They're taking money out of their 401ks, they're having to pay their monthly expenses on credit cards. And I'm not hearing the financial message from the Democrats.
Progressive Host
It really is stunning to me that how much the Democrats capitulate to right wing narratives all of the time, that there isn't an organized orchestrated resistance. We have illegal gerrymandering that now the Supreme Court is making legal. The fix is in on this thing. The fix is in. And it's just stunning to me that there isn't a cohesive leadership via Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries. Then I remember, oh yeah, they're on the take two by these corporations. And then you have these robust candidates, real progressive candidates that are coming out speaking out against corporations, speaking out against the obscene accumulation of wealth in the billionaire class, speaking up for working class people. And then you have corporate Dems that are trying to silence those voices. And I used to always think when I would hear this uniparty argument, as a person who lived in a red state, I was really offended by that because there is a difference. When you have Democrats in power, the harm reduction is palpable. But at this stage right here, it's such a layup to take such a firm stance against this stuff, such a firm stance against this. And I just want to say this to you guys, listener, this can never be normal. The last news cycle we have seen Trump fall asleep Every single time he is in front of the cameras, he's going on unhinged benders all night re gramming stuff that if you woke up in the morning and saw that your child had done something that on like that online, you'd ground them from their phone. None of this stuff is normal. Him saying he doesn't care about the American people, his obsession with the Lincoln Memorial reflection pool and all of the going on with the funding of all that. And his buddy gave his buddy the deal. Now he doesn't know the guy. Billion Dollar Ballroom, the way he treats people, none of this is normal. But a huge portion of the American public has made it normal and said, yes, abuse me, yes, abuse our country, yes, commit suicide to our country because we worship you. And then the press, the corporate media has been so exposed as to how they do not call him out and how much they seed and capitulate to right wing framing. It's just absolutely horrific. And then you have an inflation report that's come out yesterday, Fox News inflation jumps to 3.8%, highest increase since 2023. Fed's report, I remember hearing until I was blue in the face, I couldn't vote for Kamala because of inflation. I just couldn't do it. I just, I felt like the economy was better under Trump. And you know, I just. The inflation was killing me. And here's the thing, I think that sometimes people use economic purposes for voting, but there's something that Trump unlocked in a lot of people. And so many people capitulate to their worst impulses, both on an individual level. The media, the way they just really fail to cover the psychological and physical and mental decline of this man and how they've known normalize that. We have a president that hits REM every time. He has all of these dipshits standing behind him that are dismantling services that keep Americans safe. And of course, inflation is up. Of course it is. Because this man is a con man who doesn't really know anything about the economy, much less foreign affairs. Angie?
Co-host Angie
Well, you know, when I look at all these numbers coming out about the economy, I'm like, if you went back to Trump as this great businessman, you would have seen every single endeavor that he has been involved in has been involved in massive lawsuits, fraud, and bankruptcy. That's his legacy. This is a man that bankrupted casinos, which in my mind seems impossible to do. But you look at it and you think these people, like I was reading a report that farmers are still pro Trump when bankruptcies are the highest They've been in a, in years that, that, you know, these tariffs have killed farmers, but they're still for Trump. So it cannot be just the economy. It cannot be. There has to be something deeper.
Progressive Host
I mean, there absolutely is something deeper. And I think that we're seeing what it is. We're seeing an administration that the entire time since he has been sworn in has targeted black people, has targeted black Americans. And the evidence for this is truly overwhelming. The institutionalized racism with an assist from the Supreme Court is so staggering and so hurtful. And I'm shocked at how many Americans enjoy so much of what their fellow black Americans bring to this country, culturally and otherwise, and how quickly they are to just use these people for their own entertainment and then turn on them. And I think that one of the biggest sins, and I've read a lot about this online over the weekend, is we didn't really, we don't really punish these types of things. The Civil War in all of the Southern states. These states are bottom 10 states. These states are the poorest. These states have the worst records on everything imaginable. This is where racism still lives to this day. It's such a travesty how much racists are coddled in this country, how accepted it is, how good, meaning moderates allow racist peripheral racism around them. And again, everything goes back to with this whole thing with Trump. Everybody seeds and capitulates power and the opinion and all of this insanity to patriarchal racist right wing narratives. It's always like, oh, when the Republicans do it, it's okay. Or oh, the Republicans are so good with the economy, they are allowed to lie with impunity. And there are so many other deep seated issues under it, racism, misogyny, etceter. But as a person who grew up in Oklahoma, I can tell you the racism is so off the chart. And Trump gives everybody a permission structure to capitulate to their worst instincts. And you see this on full display. And here's a new CNN polling on the economy. Pop this up. So a CNN SSRS poll. How would you rate the economic conditions in the country today? Poor. 70. 73%. 73%. So I mean, that's just terrible. How have Trump's policies affected local cost of living? Increased? 77%. How have Trump policies affected local economic conditions? 65% say worsened. And I just want to say this, I've said this for years. I'm going to continue to say it till I'm blue in the face. Republicans are liars. They are decades long liars. These white men that run the Republican party, get on Fox and get on podcasts and write op EDS and say, we are so good for the economy. We are so fantastic. And they have created this culture where entitlement lives with rich people, entitlement lives with corporations. We've created a culture where the greed of corporations and the greed of white people is put up here instead of a culture like that. Ken Griffin, the guy that. That Zoran Mamdani called out, who owns a $250 million apartment on billionaires row in Manhattan. And Zorn was like, hey, Ken Part Ken Martin, you need to pay a pieta terror tax. This guy goes on TV after that and talks about what a victim he is, and he's just a billionaire bedwetter. Where are the billionaires or really rich, wealthy people, aside from the patriotic millionaires who we've had on this podcast before for that? Why wouldn't Ken Martin say, you know what? Hey, Zoron Ken or Ken Griffin, I'm sorry, Ken Griffin, I want to come sit down with you. I'm going to write the check in person. I agree with you. I have so much money, my bank account could choke a bull, and it's insane. And I want to show the country and I want to show industry that we need to create a culture where we pay our fair share in taxes. But instead, Republicans now, with an assist from Democratic corporate centrists, they are able to do these things because we say, oh, no, you're entitled. You're entitled to have all this money. You're entitled to not pay taxes. And we've created the greediest culture imaginable. And the one thing they're trying to preserve in doing all of this, the economy, is the one thing that their policies will completely dismantle. Listener, I have to share with you my new obsession. And Trump answers on inflation and he calls a black reporter a stupid person. Let's play the clip.
Co-host Angie
Bring inflation down is now at its highest level in three years. Are your policies not working?
Progressive Host
What's happening?
Conservative Commentator
They're working incredibly. If you go back to just before the war, for the last three months, inflation was at 1.7%. Now he had a choice. Let these lunatics have a nuclear weapon. If you want to do that, then you're saying stupid person. And you happen to be. I mean, I know you very well.
Co-host Angie
The fact that normalized, the fact that we see this, I mean, if we did a super clip of all the times that Trump has gone after reporters, particularly female reporters, it enrages me that that's okay with everybody. That everybody sees that and it's like, oh, you know, whatever. It is not okay. If he were the CEO of a company, like a tire business in Oklahoma, he would be fired. You are not allowed to treat your employees or your colleagues the way that he treats people. But we allow it because we're just like, oh, yeah, he does that. That's just what he does. And if you're a black reporter and a female, he will come after you. Like, you know, I can't remember, was it squeaky piggy or quiet quiet piggy? These things continue to happen. The misogyny is an all time high. And just to your point about these Republicans, if you go through the same Bible belt states that Jennifer was talking about, they have the worst in every category. They are all Republican super majorities. It is a through line that these people come in and they harm the people that voted for them.
Progressive Host
And I just want to add that as it pertains to these journalists and the way they're treated by the President of the United States. Look at who has capitulated to the President of the United States. Media companies. Yep, media companies. We have created a culture where nobody stands up for anybody. Shame on all of the media companies that have bent the knee to this administration who, who have not formed alliances and had press conferences and said, we will not allow our journalists to be treated this way. We don't care if it's a person on the street or the President of the United States. These people are qualified. They are credentialed. Nobody stands up for anything. Nobody has any conviction. You go to the Met Gala, Anna Wintour and Vogue? Oh, yeah, sure. Jeff Bezos. Let's play patty cake while you fund ice. Sure, yeah, no problem. Does anybody believe in anything, for God's sake? It's just grotesque how industry titans who really are the final barrier here. Because if they all got together and said, hey, we're done with this, we're done with the way you're making our country fall down. We're losing everything to China, we're losing our allies, and you're treating women, female journalists like shit. We're not going to stand for it. But they don't. Because we have created a culture where we allow rich people to be the worst versions of themselves. And you have capitalists, working class capitalists with zero capital, saying, yes, I believe these people deserve more, and I will gladly raise my taxes so that Ken Griffin can have a write off all of his jet fuel on his jet. It's grotesque, it's disgusting that the people who employ these female journalists do not stand up for them. It's just abhorrent. All right, that's all we have. Make sure you like and subscribe, and we'll be back later with more news.
Episode: Trump Makes Shocking Admission Before China and Fox News Slams Him For Total Collapse
Date: May 13, 2026
Hosts: Jennifer Welch & Angie “Pumps” Sullivan
In this episode, progressive hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan react to Donald Trump’s latest statements about not caring for Americans’ financial struggles, discussing the broader political and cultural landscape. The discussion weaves in the normalization of Trump’s behavior, ongoing economic hardships, the media’s capitulation to right-wing narratives, and the persistent issues of racism and misogyny. With a critical and comedic lens, the duo dissects both Republican and Democratic responses—or the lack thereof—while highlighting the disconnect between political messaging and everyday American realities.

With their signature blend of sardonic wit and pointed critique, Jennifer and Angie expose how Trump’s open indifference is enabled by media, political inaction, and cultural complacency. They lament the lack of vigorous opposition, the normalization of abuse, and the way real economic pain is manipulated for political gain. Ultimately, the show serves as a call to resist normalization, demand accountability—from Democrats, the press, and American culture at large—and reject the narratives that keep entrenched power untouched.
