It's always felt like that in our politics for the last couple years, but now it feels like the world is literally on fire because it is. But tonight is a really big moment, and I just want to zero in on why. Trump's going to deliver a primetime speech, and as I just shared on tv, I think it's going to be the equivalent of a declaration of war. Presidents usually only give these kinds of speeches when they're making a case for war. That's what Trump is doing tonight. He's making a case for his war on our elections. He's going to throw a bunch of shit at the wall as a rationale for attack, just like he did on Iran, just like he did on Venezuela, and like he's going to do now again on the midterm elections, because he knows that that is the circuit breaker to his power. If he wants to keep power, he wants to expand his power, he has to stop the one thing that could impede it, the midterm elections.
