Live from the massive “No Kings” protests in New York City, Iraq War veteran and Independent Americans host Paul Rieckhoff takes you into the streets as Americans of all ages and backgrounds say “hell no” to forever wars and unchecked presidential power. From the unpopular war in Iran to Trump’s threats against Ecuador and Cuba, Paul explains why this feels like a tipping point—and why more veterans, independents, conservatives, and liberals are uniting than we’ve seen in years.

It's not just about Iran. It's about forever wars. You know, he hit Ecuador recently. He now says he wants to hit Cuba. And I think most Americans don't want that. And especially within the MAGA base, you know, people are saying hell no. All right, everybody. Live from New York at the no Kings protest. The crowd is huge. The energy is really positive. The sun is out and people of all kinds are gathering to express their free speech, their first amendment rights and say no to all kinds of shit. I'm going to be coming up next live on Ms. Now from the no Kings protest here in New York. Big shout out to everybody around the country and around the world that's representing for their beliefs and for this country. Iraq war veteran, founder and CEO of Independent Veterans of America and host of the Independent Americans podcast, Paul Rykoff. Hey, Paul. It's good to see you. Talk about who's showing up there. I mean, what. Who are you seeing here in New York City? Midtown?
Paul Rykoff
Everybody. I mean, it's really a demonstration in the diversity of this city. A lot of young people, people of all ages, all backgrounds, and it feels bigger than anything I've seen so far. I've been saying this for weeks. I think, especially now with the war in Iran becoming so unpopular. You've got people who I think are coming out today that have never come out before. The sun is out, the energy's positive. I think it's a really, really inspiring demonstration of patriotism. And the vibes here are really good. People, I think really needed a community after a hard winter, and it feels very, very positive, and it feels like there's real momentum here.
Alex (Interviewer)
Alex, you mentioned Iran. An Iranian strike, Paul, injured 12 US troops in Saudi Arabia last night. Look, President Trump has waged this war without congressional approval. And this Wall street will put up here says that he is considering deploying 10,000 more U.S. troops to the region in addition to the troops already there. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, Paul, say they are still not being fully informed. They're not being consulted. What do you make of all this? Who is conducting oversight of the administration's military plans and who should be doing it?
Paul Rykoff
Nobody is. And that's the problem. And I think that's why these demonstrations are going to continue to get bigger. Overwhelming majority of the American people do not support the war in Iran. An overwhelming majority of the American people do not support Israel. This guy doesn't support me doing an interview.
Alex (Interviewer)
Okay.
Paul Rykoff
Hey. Protests are full of surprises. But here's the bottom line. Most people do not support the war. Most people think that Congress is failing, frankly, on both sides of the aisle here, Alex. And I think most people now are seeing the caskets come home. They see the casualties. And I think the no kings protest actually is bigger than just no kings. If it was no Trump, if it was no Iran, if it was no ice. I think people are coming here for a lot of different reasons, and it's actually a moment of unity. You're seeing people united as a majority in a way they haven't been in years. And now they are, I think, most importantly, because of the war in Iran. So it's a tipping point. And I think if he puts boots on the ground, the protests like this are gonna get much bigger, much faster.
Alex (Interviewer)
Alex, wanna Ask you about the New York Times reports that says Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth removed, Paul, two black and two female officers from promot promotion consideration to one star general. Look, the Defense Secretary, as you know, traditionally just approves or denies the entire list of promotions, doesn't single out or remove individuals. They do it this way to keep politics out of promotions. Do actions like this add to the issues inspiring today's rallies.
Paul Rykoff
Look, I think actions like this are actually incredibly. They cut out. Okay.
Alex (Interviewer)
No, we got you. We can hear you. No, don't take our microphone. Hey, we got you.
Paul Rykoff
She's still talking to me.
Alex (Interviewer)
Hey, I'm still talking to you.
Paul Rykoff
Welcome to America. Free speech. Free speech everywhere. Watch out for the road signs. You got security. But here's the bottom line, Alex. I think people really want to express their voices, and they feel like they haven't been heard. They're not being heard by Trump, obviously. They're not being heard by the Defense Department. They're not being heard, especially on issues of national security. I've been saying this a lot. I think the most important story in the world is that Donald Trump could do anything he wants with the most powerful military the world has ever seen. So it's not just about Iran. It's about forever wars. You know, he hit Ecuador recently. He now says he wants to hit Cuba. And I think most Americans don't want that. And especially within the MAGA base, you know, people are saying, hell, no. And you've got liberals and conservatives and especially independents. The folks that I talk to a lot, and a lot of veterans, too. I'm seeing more and more veterans, especially who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, who served in Vietnam, who. And feel like it's deja vu all over again. So I think this is a good day for democracy. It's been a hard winter for all of us in America especially. But I think this is a good day that's going to give people a lot of hope and inspiration. Vigilance is the price of freedom. And I think a lot of people are out here paying that price today. Alex.
Alex (Interviewer)
