Trump's forever war is expanding faster than anyone in the mainstream press is willing to say out loud. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has quietly invited more than 60 countries to a meeting framing Antifa as a transnational terror threat — the rhetorical scaffolding for troops in American cities and a move on Cuba before the midterms. Iran is a sucking chest wound draining roughly 40% of the US Navy into the Arabian Sea. A brave American, Commander Gabriel Edwards, was lost in the Seahawk crash on July 1st and almost no one covered it. And at NATO, the commander in chief confused Iran with Japan and Zelensky with Putin on camera.

He'll try to make antifa the new Al Qaeda. He'll try to make it his new global war on terror. And it's his rationale that he will also try to use to put U.S. troops in U.S. cities run by socialists.

Welcome to Independent Americans. Welcome to episode 570570, folks. I'm your host Paul Rykoff and I'm coming to you from New York City, usa. In today's show, Iran war overflowing again. Trump shits the bed at NATO Platinum. Collateral damage continues to expand. The Democrats will not save you in Maine or anywhere else. Cuba is Next. Senator Mitch McConnell is MIA. Independent is not a shtick World cup and a new professional women's baseball league and more. The weather here is humid in New York, gross and uncomfortable. Kind of like our politics right now. Like the situation in Maine and like the situation in Iran. Today's artist to help us get through it is the iconic Alice in Chains aic. Not aoc, but aic. Before aoc, there was AIC One of the most legendary bands to ever come out of Seattle, the grunge superstars and their song Dirt. Because I feel like we're pushing through the dirt right now. They also had them bones. Damn that river. Of course. Rooster. Sick man. And down in a hole. Because it feels like we're going down a hole like the American Olympic World cup team. Check that. Sorry. That played in Seattle. Alice in Chains hometown. It feels like a lot of things are being disrupted. A lot of things are gross. But I'm going to help you swim through it this summer and bring you the five Eyes. I bring you in every single show. Independence, integrity and information, inspiration and impact. No guest today. Just me to rip you through some of the most important stories you need to know about and help you understand not just what's happening now, but what's happening next in a summer that will be full of disruption, chaos and stress. But I will bring you hope and inspiration to get through it, and I'll help you stay vigilant. All right, topic. Summer is gonna be hard today. I've been running around a bit today across New York City. I was taking a bike because a skyscraper almost collapsed next to where I Record News Nation. The World cup is going on. Occasionally, Trump comes to town. It's only about 90 degrees, but the humidity is about 85%. Summer's gonna be hard sometimes. And forever war, led by Trump will continue to make it harder because forever war is expanding fast. Just when you came back from July 4th, just as you wanted to ease into your summer, there will be chaos led by Trump's expanding forever war. And there's breaking news from the Washington Post that I think you need to know about most of all. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has invited ministers from more than 60 countries to a meeting next week about what the Trump administration views as a major peril. The, quote, resurgence of transnational far left terrorism. That's according to documents reviewed by the Post. Rubio is trying to sell other nations to join them in a fight against Antifa. Yes, this is them setting the stage. And Cuba is next. They're continuing to put the pieces in place. They've been doing it for months to move into Cuba and far beyond. Remember, Trump still plans to dominate the Western hemisphere. And this, what you're hearing now, will be his rationale. He'll try to make antifa the new Al Qaeda. He'll try to make it his new global war on terror. And it's his rationale that he will also try to use to put U.S. troops in U.S. cities run by socialists that he can claim have lost control or un American or opposing the government. And he will use this rationale to attack political enemies overseas in places like Cuba, but also political enemies here at home. And anyone that opposes him, he'll call them enemies of the state. And like the global war on terrorists, it will be forever war. I've never liked the term global war on terror, because terror is not an enemy, it's a tactic. And here you will be hearing a lot about far left terrorists. They're going to try to use that language again. But Trump's forever war is rolling on much faster this week. He's not slowing down. He's all gas, no brakes. And from Iran to Cuba this summer, and especially before the midterms, he's putting the pedal to the metal. And he will not stop until he stopped. But don't have a failure of imagination. He definitely doesn't. And it's another reason we need to stay vigilant, because the Iran war is overflowing again. It was never really over. There was never really a ceasefire. Ceasefire. And there will be no days off. Check out this clip from yesterday when he was at NATO sitting alongside Zelensky, who he accidentally called Putin. Please, please, Chris, clarify. Does the end of the ceasefire mean
Lady Luck (Spin Quest Promoter)
that we are back to a full scale?
Chris (Producer or Co-host)
As long as I'm concerned, they violate the agreement every day. They lie, they cheat, they kill people. They've been killing people for 47 years. They knocked out the SS call. We lost what, 200 people? More.
Paul Rykoff
So this has been the worst ceasefire ever. There will be no days off America. Not as long as he's President. Mayhem and instability is our new normal. And so is the fact that Iran is a sucking chess wound for our economy, for his poll numbers, and for our military. Haley Britsky over at CNN had a list of the U.S. navy assets in the Northern Arabian Sea as of today. Let me reel them off for you. And I'm not going to say USS every time, but it's the USS George H.W. bush, the Abraham Lincoln, the McFaul, the Michael Murphy, the Milius, the Spruance, the Delbert D. The Frank E. Pearson Jr. The Rafael Peralta, the Donald Cook, the John Finn, the Mason, the Ross, the Boxster, the Princeton Higgins, Portland Comstock, Miguel, Keith. That's roughly 40% of our Navy and more as of this week. And Iran has now fully become a sucking chest wound that you can't plug. You can't stop the bleeding. It just sucks more and more into it. Militarily, economically, politically. And it's getting worse, not better. And our enemies are celebrating. Our enemies are celebrating. All right. Meanwhile, Ukraine is fighting on, and Trump is embarrassing us all at NATO. I talked about it on TV this week and earlier in shows, but I got to play this clip for you because you need to hear it where he confuses Iran and Japan. Play the clip, please, Chris.
Chris (Producer or Co-host)
100. I told the story yesterday. We had 111 missiles shot by the Islamic Republic of Japan. They were shot at the aircraft.
Paul Rykoff
Gary. Yes. Trump continues to screw up countries. As I said on CNN last night, you can't have your commander in chief screwing up the names of countries. If he is physically unable to do this job, that is something Congress needs to address. I think there are many reasons you could impeach Trump, but if he's mentally not capable of doing this job, if he's physically not capable of doing this job, he should be removed. Same was true for Joe Biden. I'm an independent. I call it like it is. You can go back and check the videotape on this show and other places, but if Trump can't do the job, he needs to go. Now, I don't want J.D. vance to be our President Trump, but I also don't want Trump to have an aneurysm or Alzheimer's while he's got his finger on the nukes. Now, he continues to embarrass us, but I've got to note, Zelensky continues to shine. Play his clip, please, Chris.
Chris (Producer or Co-host)
President Putin said, I would love to meet in Moscow. And I said, I don't think, you know, I have to put myself in this position. I don't know that he'd go to Moscow. Maybe he would. Would you go to Moscow?
Danish Reporter
It's difficult.
Paul Rykoff
There are a lot of Ukrainian drones there. That's right. Budapest, Europe.
Chris (Producer or Co-host)
No, it's fine. It's hard to go to iba.
Paul Rykoff
I mean, and he even keeps a sense of humor. And he's not wrong. There are a lot of Ukrainian drones all over Moscow now, and Russia is finally feeling the pressure. I've long said on this show that I think Ukraine should take the fight to Russia to make them feel the pain, to influence public opinion back home. Putin's got a grip, but that grip is slipping more by the day. And now that Russia is seeing the truth of how badly this war is going, and they're now worried about getting killed themselves, the way the folks in Ukraine have been for years. Things are changing and Ukraine is winning. And I think that Trump also wants a part of that. He wants to be on the winning side. If you don't think Ukraine is winning, ask yourself why Trump now all of a sudden wants to get on board. Now, Trump has also been embarrassing us at NATO and it's been very, very embarrassing. But it's also been revealing, not just for him, but for Mark Rutte, the head of NATO.
Danish Reporter
Check out this clip Rasmus Rainbow from the Danish news agency. Danish news agency Rizzo Mark, you sit next to Donald Trump in moments where he talks about conquering Greenland, talks about lashing out at allies like Spain, starting trade wars, things that it doesn't seem like the old Margot would approve of. Does this have any effect on your self respect when you sit next to him like that and say nothing? You know what I always do is acknowledge when praise is due. And I think we should praise Donald Trump for the fact that NATO is so much stronger. Of course it has to do with the Russian threat, it has to do with the war in Ukraine. But it's very much also has to do with President Trump delivering now what since Eisenhower, the United States tried to achieve equalizing spending between the US And Europe. And that makes Europe stronger. It makes Europe more relevant for the United States as a partner. So that is the transformative character of this summit, of what happened in the Hague, the implementation since the Hague, this summit as a point in time where we take stock. And I think that is extremely important.
Paul Rykoff
That is from a Danish reporter who I think deserves an award. These are the kinds of hard questions we would love to see from the American media for Trump and others. But Rota's behavior and his groveling before Trump is absolutely embarrassing. I know he thinks it's gonna work for NATO, but it's not working for NATO, it's not working for America, it's not working for Ukraine. But thankfully, there are some folks in the Danish press and across the media who are holding people accountable and, and giving you reason to stay focused. Independent Americans. The 2026 elections are taking shape and you hear about it on this show every single episode. You can trade on the biggest political races on Kalshi. On Kalshi, you can trade major primaries, election outcomes and the biggest political storylines as they happen. It is election season leading up to the biggest midterms ever. And you can trade on, for example, who will control Congress, the Democrats or the Republicans. Right now the Democrats are trading at 82%, meaning a $100 trade would pay out $111.06. If it goes that way, you can trade on the main Senate election, the biggest election, I think, at least for the summer. Will the Democrats win this Senate race or will the Republicans and Susan Collins? And hang on the the Republicans are trading at 38%, which means a $100 trade on the Republicans would pay out $252.21 if they and Susan Collins win that election. You can put your money where you think it's going to go. You can also bet on the big one, who's going to be the 2028 Democratic presidential nominee or who the Republican nominee is. And there are other fun ones like you can pick Will Trump attend the World cup final? There is right now a 91.2% chance that he does. He likely will be there. If you bet $100 and he shows up, you get paid out $108.86. There's all kinds of stuff you can trade on on kalsheet. It's interesting, it's fun, and if you listen to or watch the show, you are ahead of most folks on kalsheet. You're trading against peers in a live market, which means there's no house. I looked to see if anybody had really covered this and almost nobody had. So let's go below the radar. No war is without a cost, and this war has a new human cost. And that cost that person is Commander Gabriel Edwards, U.S. navy the U.S. navy Commander Gabriel Edwards was commanding officer of Helicopter C Command Squadron 5. He tragically went missing following an MH660s Seahawk crash in the Arabian Sea on July 1st. There was an exhaustive search. Operations have been concluded and they've announced that he has been lost. A Rear Admiral Todd Simakata, commander of carrier strike group 10, said, quote, Gabe's legacy as a husband, father, friend, fearless leader will never be forgotten. We're thankful to Each who carry a unique and indelible part of Gabe's memory with us as we continue to this important mission. I bet you missed it. Most of America missed it, and most of the media did, too. But every war has a human cost, and the cost of Trump's war has now taken the life of another brave American. As always, to help the loved ones of all those killed in action, especially their kids, in the many years ahead, support the vital work of our friends at TAPS Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivor. It's always linked in the bio and you can go to taps.org for them, every day is Memorial Day. But it's going to be a hard summer, folks. That's the hard truth. And we're going to need to stay vigilant. All right. It's going to be an especially hard summer in Maine. A place I love to go to in Maine. I hope maybe I'll get a chance to get up there. But the Graham Platner debacle continues to expand. Finally, he has. He has resigned. I addressed it a bit last night in a special podcast, but I want to go a bit deeper. Apparently the Nazi tattoo wasn't disqualifying enough alone for many Democrats. But I think this is an example again of how the Democrats cannot be trusted to save you. But he is finally out. He posted an 11 minute video last night that Chris maybe can show a quick clip up here. It's not the false allegations, though, that have brought us to where we are. It's the fact that they are being used by the political establishment to put structural pressure on us. But if you want to see how truly undisciplined you, if you want to show how truly undisciplined you are, beyond getting a Nazi tattoo and posting hateful shit online and sexually assaulting women, make your withdrawal video 11 minutes long and blame everyone else but yourself. Now, last August, when Graham Platner announced, Democrats were doing backflips with excitement. And I reacted pretty cautiously. In a segment that immediately followed his first national TV interview on Ms. Now with Katie Tur. He was on with Katie Tur and I came on right afterward. I was less enthusiastic because he was unknown, because I had never heard of him, because he hadn't been vetted, because it just didn't feel solid yet. And I'm always cautious in the beginning. I don't let my emotions overwhelm my support for a candidate. I want to do my research, which folks apparently in the Democratic Party in Maine did not do enough of. But this was before the Nazi tattoos, the Internet history and the rape allegations. And ever since that day, I've said this before, I want to reiterate it. I've repeatedly invited Graham Plner on this show and I never once heard back. He did a lot of shows, but he would never do this one. And for what it's worth, I think the only show he ever did was hosted by another veteran, Jason Kander, who hosts Majority 54. But Platner always stuck to friendly and easy shows. He was on Ms. NOW nonstop, but he didn't go to places like Joe Rogan or Sean Ryan or Fox News, which was yet another warning sign that many, many ignored. Now, I got into it today on Ms. NOW for my weekly appearance with Katie Turv opposite Jamie Harrison, the former head of the dnc. I'll post that video and maybe share it with you tomorrow in a day to come. But he defended the establishment. He defended the dnc. He thinks they're going to win again. And that is not the first time we've heard that from him after they spectacularly lost with Kamala Harris and lots of other key Senate elections. But the Democrats will not save you. And this is not the first time that I've tangled with Jamie. He was on my show, on this show last fall and we respectfully discussed and debated what I think is the sorry state of the Democratic Party. We also talked about failure, Platner, and what it takes to win independents and tough elections going forward. But at some point in our conversation, Jamie got a little irritated and said that I have an independent shtick. Well, if you want to win independence, it starts by not disrespecting us because being independent is not a shtick. We are 45% of all Americans and Maine has an independent senator already who used to be their independent governor. His name is Senator Angus King. He's been on the show a number of times. And the sooner that Democratic leaders recognize that independents are legitimate and key, especially in Maine, where there are 300,000 of us, they have a better chance of winning in independent minded places like Maine, but not before then, and not if they go to the far left. I think what you'll see in Maine is what you've seen in a lot of other places. The parties are becoming more extreme. They're becoming more left and more right and putting candidates forward that are more left and more right. And if you put a far left progressive candidate up against Susan Collins in Maine, you will lose. The Democrats have lost many times trying to take out Susan Collins. If they got creative and put somebody like Patrick Dempsey up there, the actor who announced he would not do it, or someone like author Stephen King, maybe you can win. It works for the Republicans. With folks like Tommy Tuberville, it could work for the Democrats, too. But I think instead you'll get a watered down version of someone who will lose to Susan Collins, who won't excite anyone, who will only take lots of partisan money from the outside in New York and Los Angeles and places where they want to knock out Susan Collins. But most Mainers will be discriminating. And I think in the end, the majority of Mainers will pick Susan Collins. I might be wrong. We'll watch this space. But I think it's really important to underscore that Democrats especially should not be disrespecting independents. There are two kinds of them. You've heard folks like Wes Moore and Mikey Sherrill on the show who appreciate independents, who understand their importance not just in elections, but as candidates. Then there are others who say, you're not really independent. You should just pick a side. Come on over to our party. They shit on us and they ask for our vote. It's not working. And that's why so many people are leaving the Democratic Party. And the sooner the Democratic Democrats recognize that, the sooner they'll have a chance of winning. And until they do, there'll be lots of independent candidates stepping into the breach, like many you've heard on this show, like Seth Bodnar in Montana, like Dan Osborne in Nebraska, like Mike Eisenhower in Montana and Ty Pickens down in Mississippi. Even if they don't win, they are truly independent and they are pushing forward our movement. Our day is coming. And I think Maine is a place to watch in particular because we're going to have to keep reminding people they already have an independent senator. They say, oh, there's only one. There's only one. Now stay vigilant. All right. Something that I was going to use yesterday for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Wednesday. We missed it because we were in a flurry. So, Chris, play the music just because I like it.

All right, what the Wednesday was yesterday, but here's my Whiskey Tangle Fox drop apparently Mitch McConnell has been hospitalized for three weeks and AIDS are not saying why. He's been in the hospital since June 14. There have been few updates about his about his condition. They said he was admitted and he was receiving excellent care. Here's what you need to know. As reported by the Washington Post, emergency responders the morning that I mentioned performed CPR on an unconscious individual undergoing cardiac arrest at the senator's Washington address, according to recordings of the dispatcher calls that were reported by news outlets and obtained by the New York Times and others. The recording did not name Mr. McConnell as the individual, but either it was McConnell or somebody else in his house was having a heart attack that required CPR. Recordings of the emergency dispatch radio log between 8:36am and 8:43am indicate that dispatchers initially called for medics to respond the report of an unconscious individual. Six minutes later, a worker with the city's EMS responded, saying that his supervisor would be would be informed of CPR in progress. So did Mitch McConnell get CPR performed on him or not? This is a legitimate question. As one of the top Republicans in the country, they say he's dialed into what's going on. He's following up on what's going on. But this is the latest in a series of health issues from McConnell over the years. He's been hospitalized. He had a serious fall. He had poly polio as a child, which he's talked about openly. But is Mitch McConnell capable of doing the job, especially at a time when we need him to vote on things like wars? This is a bigger issue than just politics. This is about a national security vulnerability. Trump is old and vulnerable. Mitch McConnell is old and vulnerable, too. And our enemies are celebrating. Our enemies are celebrating. All right, our enemies might be celebrating, but there is still reason for us to be celebrating here in America and across the world, because at least we still have the World Cup. Something good. I haven't talked about it in a couple of Shows. But as I record this, France is taking on Morocco, which will be very exciting.

We'll have a massive clash this weekend between Norway and England, which is my favorite match to watch. Harry Kane against Erling Holland, which will just be absolutely epic. And over the weekend, over the last couple days, Sorry. Egypt was up on Argentina 2, nothing with like 10 minutes left. And Messi did what only Messi does. He came from behind. Argentina won three to two. It was one of those games I feel like we're going to tell our grandkids about, but it was the best I've seen in a soccer match in so long. But the World cup just keeps on delivering. And then right after that, Colombia and Switzerland went to penalty kicks. Switzerland won 4, 3. Now Switzerland has to play Messi and Argentina at Arrowhead in Kansas City on Saturday. And here's what I want to tell you. Even though the US Is out, this is still the best World cup ever. And we may not be in the matches, but we can still be here as the best hosts. And I think that that is something good. All right, one other something good that I want to give you that was kind of below the radar. Yesterday it was announced that there is a new women's professional baseball league. It's called the wpbl. The Women's Professional Baseball League. I think this is awesome. They have announced that they have an inaugural season starting with four teams. They are called the Boston Hunters, the New York Heights, the Los Angeles Queens, and the San Francisco Fifth Fire Bells. There has been professional baseball in the past in America. Anyone who's ever seen A League of Their Own knows this, but this is a proud part of baseball and American history. I think it's inspiring for young girls and boys. I'm going to go try to check out a game by the Heights here in New York. And I'm going to be rooting for the WPBL because it underscores that women's sports in America is absolutely kicking ass around the globe. We have all mourn now the loss by our Men's World cup team, but our Women's World cup team has won multiple World Cups and they're playing next year in another World cup in Brazil. And that will give us reason to be hopeful and reason to be inspired. So look forward to that, folks, and stay vigilant. All right, we're daily now. You know the deal. We hit number 15 in the podcast charts, the news charts. We're banging up against the big dogs. Please help us by subscribing and leaving a Review right now. Share it far and wide. Invite others to declare their independence. Check out our supporters from Kalshi, check out our supporters from Noble Mobile and check out Independent Voter News. They are a new partner at IVN us. They've got some great information about what's happening in the independent space. You'll see more of my content there. I'll be writing, they'll be showing our podcast and I featured for example, their recent article 10 organizations Independent voters need to Watch. You should check that out. You at IBN Us, they are helping us provide light to contrast the heat. So if you're now among the 45% of Americans that are independent, you are not just a shtick, you are almost the majority. Independent is an attitude. Independent is about integrity. Independent is a lot harder than just saying, okay, I'll be a Democrat or a Republican. This is your moment and this is your show. And our independent movement is bringing hope for the future, especially in times like this country. Over party, people over politics, light over heat, challenging the status quo and fueling a new movement. And it will be absolutely pivotal in Maine and every other race coming up. And hope, as always, is the oxygen of our democracy. If you enjoyed this episode, please share it far and wide. Invite others to declare their independence and stay vigilant, my friends, because eternal vigilance is the price of freedom. You know the deal. You're not alone in your vigilance. There are more and more of us by the day. No matter what Jamie Harrison says, it's true, Jamie. We're all vigilant. We're all in this together. I'm your host, Paul Rykoff. Thank you for tuning in to Independent Americans. I will have a new show for you tomorrow and I'm thinking about dropping shows in the morning going forward. How do you feel about that? Let me know in the comments on YouTube. Let me know on social media. Would you prefer to have this first thing in the morning rather than in the evening? I know the times have been irregular, but we're working on incorporating your feedback and bringing you a show that you can count on to meet this moment. So I will see you tomorrow or you will hear me tomorrow. Until then, happy Thursday, enjoy the World cup and stay vigilant.

Host: Paul Rieckhoff
In this solo episode, Paul Rieckhoff offers a rapid-fire, unfiltered breakdown of the biggest political and global stories shaping the summer of 2026: escalating conflict with Iran, President Trump’s controversial behavior and gaffes at NATO, the expanding fallout from the Graham Platner scandal in Maine, and the ongoing marginalization of independent voters by both major parties. With Rieckhoff’s signature bluntness, the episode is both an urgent call for vigilance and a tribute to independent thinking—peppered with cultural references, news analysis, and some notes of hope.

The Resurgence of the “Forever War”
Costs of Ongoing Conflict with Iran

(Rieckhoff, 08:20)
Trump’s Rhetoric and Gaffes
“You can't have your commander in chief screwing up the names of countries. If he's physically unable to do this job...he should be removed. Same was true for Joe Biden. I'm an independent. I call it like it is.”

Graham Platner Fallout
“If you want to show how truly undisciplined you are, beyond getting a Nazi tattoo and posting hateful shit online and sexually assaulting women, make your withdrawal video 11 minutes long and blame everyone else but yourself.”
(17:17)
The Democratic Party’s Trouble with Independent Voters
Rieckhoff emphasizes that being independent isn’t a “shtick”—and rebukes party leadership (especially Jamie Harrison) for disrespecting the independent voting bloc.
Maine used as case study:
“Being independent is not a shtick. We are 45% of all Americans and Maine has an independent senator already.”
(19:49)
Parties’ embrace of extreme candidates on left and right is alienating moderates and independents.
