Calienvaroe is held captive by dragons and drake in a tall, ruined tower of an ancient fortress. Sabynne and Vessel attempt to rescure her without alerting the Drakes. Luminara's visions of the future predict that countless lives will be lost if they do not succeed. Zaldo makes a plan for escape no matter the cost of sacrifice.

The Guardians fight a horde of Dragons to the death with the help of Luminara, an ancient Omen dragon and ally from their past. But Luminara did not arrive by chance; she is here for a greater purpose and requires the aid of the heroes if she hopes to succeed.

The Guardians achieve the impossible, recovering an ancient relic powerful enough to kill dragons. They set out to use it to rescue the captured Calienvaroe, but the dragons have plans of their own: hunt down and destroy every hero before the weapon can ever be used.

Reluctant and weary, Hemlock guides the Guardians back through the searing heat of the Magma Gauntlet with Shilara’s grudging assistance. Meanwhile, Jericho learns that the enemy of his enemy might just be a friend—for a price.

Lead Wizard Mallbeck’s search for the cause of reality’s unraveling goes wrong when he accidentally creates an extraplanar bomb capable of obliterating Navarre. Jericho and Hemlock risk their lives to disarm it. Zaldor completes a months-long side quest that ends up breaking Jericho's heart, and Galen firmly reminds the Guardians that friends don’t let friends scout alone.
