Muscle Milk Protein for all everybody. Welcome to IT live. I'm Texas Homer, joined by coach Dub Eric Naleen. We got some fun stuff to talk about today. Both of these two gentlemen had some solid intel over the weekend about the team as we get ready to for fall camp. But gentlemen, before we discuss these things, head over to inside Texas right now where you can join for $1 then 50 off your first year. Link is down in the description below. Let's start off with the video though, gentlemen. We had a video released by Texas strength staff and we got to see the full range of the program. So we will play this and then we will chat about it.
Coach Eric Naleen
Four seconds. That's crazy.
Texas Homer
That mosley. I think that was mosley.
Coach Eric Naleen
They hate the sand. This is crazy.
Texas Homer
A lot of speed to control that. They do too.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah, major direction. That jumping sequence was wild.
Texas Homer
Well, this deceleration too. Helps you from getting injured like old school football. We were only taught acceleration. You have to be able to Decelerate, too. Again. Let's do it again.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah.
Texas Homer
They're all over the line. The culture line.
Coach Eric Naleen
Oh, my God. Gary's foot squat coming up. I don't know how much weight he has on there.
Texas Homer
Yeah, yeah. Is that canoe?
Coach Dub Eric
They like canoe.
Coach Eric Naleen
Get out.
Texas Homer
So what you guys see there?
Coach Eric Naleen
Team?
Texas Homer
Yeah, Coach, keep. You're freezing up, man. But what. What did you specifically see? What did those drills and how do they relate to football?
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, the change of direction is obvious. You got to be explosive in every direction that you move in football. Football doesn't move in straight lines, so a lot of times you see these straight line athletes that don't translate to football as well. Rarely do you see a guy that's a bit stiffer. The whole thing about it is you can see explosive athletes, but they have to be flexible in their hips, too. Change direction. It's a big part of it. No matter what position you play. Obviously the heavy lifting, that's. That's been a change that we talked about in the first. First couple weeks of off season. That's that. That's how you. That's how you generate the power that you put in the ground. That translates to acceleration and speed. Very, very important. I think they skewed a little bit too far away from that in the past to try to get more flexible, more hip mobility. But, you know, you can see that a lot of it is just the fact that the. The talent that they have there are studs. They're just athletic marvels. That jumping sequence we talked about earlier, the guys, you know, flying through the air but under total control. And a lot of it is, as you noted, under control. It's just a. It was just an impressive film all the way around. But you know that split squat, that Bulgarian split squat, one of the hardest lifts that routinely to build quads, and it also builds your glutes. That one, you could tell by his front foot being closer to the rest of his body, was designed to focus on the quads when they go further back. It's for glutes and hamstrings, but, yeah, they're lifting a lot heavier. I think it's going to translate on the field. That was the most impressive workout video I've seen in a. In a long time. I mean, it's just from start to finish, like I said, at four seconds, that big guy going from zero to 60 ASAP. Very impressive.
Texas Homer
The variation was nice, too, right? You get to see a full program. So you see heavy lifting there. You see varied types of lift to Target certain things. Then you see the pure explosion stuff and then you see them going to the line. So change of direction and then you see the control. What I don't even know what that's called. When they're like twisting over themselves. I don't even know what that's.
Coach Eric Naleen
They're. They're just, that's just the mobility.
Texas Homer
But then they're targeting mobility, pliability, all of that too. And then I like a lot that they're doing controlled stuff. So running to the line and then not on the sprints, but whenever they were face head up, run to the line and then learning how to break down quickly, all that stuff. Because a lot of those knee injuries are actually when you're slowing down, not when you're speeding up. So I thought that was a big factor and it was just good to see and maybe verified some stuff here for Paul. All Paul cares about his lifting. So all that heavy stuff. So excited to see that you still
Coach Eric Naleen
gotta lift heavy in football. I mean it's, you know, I think they got a little too cute too sciency. They got away from some of that stuff. A lot of people have done that. But you, you know, you need to be powerful to play football.
Texas Homer
Yep. Homer coach Eric, who do you think was the anonymous coach who said Arch was just okay, Joey Maguire.
Coach Eric Naleen
People just care about drama, drama, drama. I swear everywhere they can drum. I don't even know anything about this. Who said.
Texas Homer
Maybe it was somebody that know Anonymous.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah, maybe. Maybe it was a coach who held arch to a 50 passing. You know, I don't know, man. Arch. Arch wasn't great at times last year and I'm, I'm his biggest fan. So maybe it was just a coach that defended him. Well, I don't know.
Texas Homer
I've seen a couple of YouTuber, not even YouTubers but like football analysts that are do YouTube. They've done some breakdowns of Arch. Well, as soon as you. So here's the thing. It's just in the market, as soon as everyone thought Arch was the best at the beginning of last year, then there became like a market need to say he wasn't. And then that guy got views and then Arch started to suck in the beginning half and then so then the market need was Arch is actually really good. And that got filled. Now we're back to Arch is really good. So you're going to naturally see some of this counterpoints as well when they point out like bad short yard passing. I think all that stuff is valid. But with the anonymous coaching Quotes that's always a little bit tricky to know. Figure out the motivation or if it's a true opinion. I love the idea of three big wide receivers in Wingo Wingo. Call me. I cannot talk. Coleman and Mosley. It'll be super helpful to help with red zone issues. That's going to be part of the intel we discuss here shortly as well.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah, but not just the red zone issues. The way people think of big guys going up and coming down with the ball. You know, Mosley did that obviously against Mississippi State to win that game and Coleman has made a living off doing that. But, you know, there's other ways that those big wide receivers are going to help in red zone, too.
Texas Homer
Let's hit some of your intel, Eric, that we got right here and we will hit that later on in it. So first things first, I think you dropped us over the weekend. When did you drop this?
Coach Eric Naleen
Saturday. Saturday morning. Yeah, I got a call Friday night. I mean, some of this I had early from earlier in the week, but the call on Friday night, that guy's interesting because he's been ham hammering a few of the same themes throughout this off season. And he called me with some more hammering the same themes, some of it the big wide receivers. But also he just says, you know, I'm not talking about Jermaine Bishop enough, too, so.
Texas Homer
All right, special emphasis. First things first on Ohio State. Are they overlooking Ohio State, Eric?
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah.
Coach Eric Naleen
Oh, man. And then our, our tweet came out, which I, you know, they just ran it through a machine. What gets people looking. I hate that. But I mean, obviously they're looking at other teams too. You know, last year we mentioned the focus and I'm not talking about just like coaches breaking down table. You know, when they're trying to motivate the players and they're talking about big games. Last year they talk about Georgia and Florida. Florida obviously had higher expectations and then played like the Florida everybody thought they'd see for one game, exactly one game last year, and that happened to be against Texas. The coaches knew that they had that talent. And obviously, you know, the talent was obvious. If you saw how many players people were trying to get from that roster when. When what's his name left. But so this year the focus is mainly just as far as. I'm not saying internally, they're not you. They're game planning. Everybody that's already been broken down. Everybody's been broken down forwards and backwards. But emphasis as far as getting these players up and, and talking, talking them through these very Grueling workouts is Ohio State. And that's part and parcel with what we said they viewed as a must win game. Sark makes no bones about it behind the scenes when he talks to people. They gotta win Ohio State. They know they gotta win Ohio State. You know, there has been some talk about Ole Miss just because they're new on the schedule. Nobody's, you know, Texas hasn't played Ole Miss in a long time. They haven't played it, you know, since it's been, been rebuilt from Lane Kiffin and now it's got Pete Golding. The main thing to be afraid of there is a quarterback. That guy can take over a game as we saw in the playoffs. And I haven't heard a whole lot about, actually I haven't heard as much about LSU as I expected, surprisingly. Yeah, I haven't. Yeah, I, I asked about that. It's not, not much. But it's not that they're taking anybody lightly. It's who are they using for motivation and that's far and away Ohio State.
Texas Homer
Is Paul gonna finish his pamphlet or is he just a lazy, no talent Internet media personality? He is working on it. He was in the group chat yesterday with us going over some, some details of it. So his annual homework that he's given himself and tortures himself with will be coming soon. So be on the lookout for that and he can tell you tomorrow. Tomorrow when he's on the show.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah. Have you, if you guys ever, you know, talk to your CPA during like what is April 14th or 15th? You know, that's, that's where Paul is right now. So just give him a little space.
Texas Homer
Yeah, let him breathe a little bit so he's not going insane. All right, so we had, we did the couching of that. They have special emphasis on Ohio State, but doesn't mean that we're only focused on them. I know that game bothered Sark particularly as well, so that was kind of obvious. But you have a note here too. That's continuation really of past years. But must Champ's focus remains on one wide receiver as well for Ohio State?
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah, they've already got an idea how they're going to cover him. And you know, they don't need to change much from the prior two meetings. I mean they've, you know, Jeremiah Smith probably isn't super excited to see Tech. I mean he's a competitor. Sure he wants to have a big breakout game against ut, but you know, they've done really well. I don't think they're going to change a whole lot. You know, why get away from what. What's worked. They've got stuff in their coverages that overlap with PK that they'll put to good use.
Texas Homer
So.
Coach Eric Naleen
But he still has a bullseye on him. There's no doubt about that.
Texas Homer
And then we have a question about Stoops, which we had on the Q A, but you had to go actually to your sources and get more intel on that. So. And they were just basically trying to figure out, what does Mark Stoops actually do for Texas? And you have the answer right here.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah, special assistant. Just like, well, he's a specialist of the head coach. But the way it sounded more. More like to me is a special assistant to the defensive coordinator head coach, which of course, Will Muschamp. They have a good relationship. You know, obviously, Stoops has a very strong track record, even in the or especially in the sec, of having good defenses. And even though those defenses were largely known for being sound up front, he's. He's got a defensive back, defensive backfield background. He works a lot with the safeties. So, I mean, you have a lot of eyes on coverages back there. Between Gideon, who's basically a DC himself, or at least he was last year, you got Will Muschamp and then Stoop. So he works a lot on the coverage side of things. And, yeah, he's kind of a quiet guy, but, you know, getting. Getting to a point where he probably provides more. More and more input. You got to understand, this first couple months there, he's still learning the playbook, you know, and all the terminology. That's. That's a lot to intake for a new guy, even somebody that's used to devouring that sort of information. Yeah, look at him. Like Gary Patterson in 2022 or. Or Scotty Hazelton in 20. I think it was 2023 for Hazelton. As a guy, that's going to be the eye in the sky, helping put eyes on what coverage is, what the wide receivers are doing, what the offensive, what the passing game is doing, and how they can counteract that.
Texas Homer
As far as being around the safeties, man, we have two former head coaches and one former defensive coordinator coach on those safeties. Man, we better be locked down at that position. That's a huge amount of brain trust in one position area.

Maxing is so maxing right now, bro. Get ready for spicy chicken maxing because Carl's Jr is saving you big with a 5.9maxed out double stack double stack double stack spicy chicken sandwich. Seriously, just 5.99 double stack spicy chicken. This is unreal value in the bromosphere. The new spicy chicken Max Wallet friendly, Max Tasty only at Carl's Jr available for a limited time at participating restaurants, tactile included. Not valid for use within a combo or in combination with any other offered discount. Yeah, and I, you know, and it doesn't sound like the safeties have a, I mean it's not the toughest coverage duties for safeties of all time. I think a lot of it has to do with run fits as well as robbing the passing game too. You know, not just laying back and making coverages, but really teaching them the whole defense on, hey, this, if they do this, you've got the ability to go this way or that way. Giving them, teaching them how to, to take advantage of some autonomy they give them.
Texas Homer
Michael Welch says. Speaking of Patterson, does him being at USC scare anyone else? I, I have a ton of respect for Gary Patterson. What he did at TCU and then what he did for us. So I think that was a smart hire. So, yeah, I think USC could be a problem with Patterson. What do you think, Eric?
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, I mean, it's, you know, it's, it's a big year for them. Obviously. He's a value add to anybody. You know, you could have him on Nick Saban's staff and he's the value add. The guy's an awesome head coach. So. Sure, I'm not too familiar with what their program needs are outside of, you know, probably more toughness. But yeah, I mean, it's, I don't think it's, it elevates them. I was talking to a former USC player last week or maybe two weeks ago, and he thinks they're going to go 10 and 2, but obviously he's a former USC guy and I'm thinking more 8 and 4 for them. They've got a tough schedule.
Texas Homer
Derrick Williams is the X factor. If he returns to freshman and sophomore form before injury, he will unlock the secondary. What have you been hearing about that, Eric?
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, he needs to move like a freshman and sophomore, but he needs to think like an upperclassman. He, you know, he did have plenty of mental mistakes early on in his career, as all young players do. But he, you know, we haven't really seen like the veteran side of him yet because, you know, we didn't get a good look at him last year. So we need to see the harmony of that athlete but also the, the benefits of being experienced at that position. And that's. That position benefits from experience about as much as quarterback does. You need to play fast, not only just move fast, but process fast. And I'm hearing nothing but good things about him. You know, I think he's going to have a good year. The, the most positive thing I heard is somebody, somebody recently told me looks like a mid rounder or he could at least become a mid rounder this year. And that's pretty high praise given, you know, compared to what we saw from him last year.
Texas Homer
Even if he was less explosive, would it even have a tangible effect if he's smart? I mean, the safety position, you can make up for a lot of that anyway.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah, you can balance it out. That's a, that's a counterbalance to any lost step. You can make make up for it and just processing and you know, I think one of the, you know, positive sign we heard about him is that, you know, they can play them either in the boundary or the field and those can be, they're asking you a little bit of everything. If you do those right, playing the box in the boundary more in the field, you might get matched up in more coverage. That means they feel good about the way he moves. We haven't heard any negatives about the way he moves. I mean, it's not like I haven't heard, hey, yeah, he, he moves like he did before the injury. But I haven't heard a single negative about how he moves. And honestly I didn't hear him last year either. At least, you know, after about midway through the season two unique burst, we
Texas Homer
just saw a little bit of a workout video. But here we have the top five and it will first off give your definition of explosivity here. You make sure to set that up.
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, it's just how fast you can get up to top speed, really going 0 to 60 ASAP. You know, I think that's pretty much the most, the standard definition for it. But we, we have people on my side. I'm saying you had to set it
Texas Homer
up with a definition, which to me means that people have argued the definition of explorer.
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, I mean I've got people telling me that Ryan Wingo is not explosive. And I'm like, I'LL tell you what, man, when fans are down on somebody, they're down on him no matter what. You know, I mean, it's.
Texas Homer
Wingo is a bit of a whipping boy right now, but I don't get that. Wingo is not explosive. Like, whenever he goes from standstill screen to forward, maybe because they're thinking you have to be like a little guy or something, but I don't.
Coach Eric Naleen
I don't know, man. That's the defining characteristic. If you could take a screen of the house, you have to be explosive because that. The defenders are so close to you in a screen, they're closing on you quickly. Right? They're right next to you. It's not like you have 40 yards to. To build up speed and run away from him. He's the definition of explosive. It just drives me crazy.
Texas Homer
Yeah, I don't. Yeah, I don't get that knock at all on Wingo. So let's talk about the top five here. And who were they? Number one.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah. Cam Coleman, first guy I mentioned. He'd love to hear that because, man, we know everything else about the guy, including, you know, that he's a physical blocker and a willing blocker as well. And then obviously, the ball skills, the. The body control, the hand, eye coordination, all that stuff is there. The long speed, we know that's there on tape. But when you start hearing about explosiveness, that's when you really know they're going to take advantage of the full route tree. Because speed, explosiveness shows up in the. In the shorter route running when you create separation on the ground. We know he can. We know he can stride away from people and create separation that way. But to hear the short area, explosiveness, that's when you become truly special. As a longer receiver known for tracking
Texas Homer
the deep ball, I'm getting worried with Cam Coleman. What I've heard is he's explosive, best hands, and then he's like a great culture fit. And it's like everything I've heard has just been 100 positive. I'm getting a little.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah, it seems like a dream come true. I mean, I'm not too surprised about. I, you know, the amount of people we have to check on these guys is, you know, and that's. It's a theme. I haven't heard a single negative about him. Yeah, he did have six drops last year, so, you know, that's one less than Ryan Wingo, who's terrible at football, apparently. So, you know, Cam Coleman, camp Coleman's got to work on those drops. I think Some of that has to do with the fact that he can make a play on a ball. Most people can't too. You know, that's. That. That can be part of the problem too. It's like a safety that makes a lot of. Or not a safety, a short stop that makes a lot of errors. But the problem is it gets to a lot of balls other, other people wouldn't.
Texas Homer
Yeah, it makes sense. Hey, Coach.
Coach Dub Eric
Hey, man.
Coach Eric Naleen
Fighting the Internet out. Oh, you even came back in a whole different mood, man. I have a feeling you were talking to your wife back there.
Texas Homer
All right, next up for second most explosive, Ryan Niblett. He's kind of has a unique explosivity, but Eric, explain kind of what you're thinking there?
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, you know, they're just saying you can't return punts in the SEC for touchdowns without being explosive. But I was going over those returns this morning actually, and you know, that's. His returns are a combination to everything. You know, I was watching that Mississippi State one. First of all, they, that they. Fortunately they out kicked their coverage on that and he was heading for the sidelines and it looked like he was considering, all right, man, this is probably going to be a short return. And then he cut up field and then, then he saw the same blocking that you saw on the OU return, that sideline return block. And I think that kind of. I think they all reverted to the, to what worked against ou, or maybe that was the initial call, I'm not sure. But he made a guy miss. They took a couple horrible angles. He picked up some good blocks. He did break a tackle that required some strength. He does have some power. That goes back to the fact that he is a, you know, a powerful, explosive guy. The problem is fans haven't seen him do anything. You know, he had one long run last year, I think, but we haven't really seen the, the. The explosiveness manifest on screens and stuff like that. Or maybe like a straight line punt return where it's just really obvious. You know, sometimes you guys, you know, you see the lane and you don't. You go untouched. We haven't really seen that. He's had to. Gonna. He's had to kind of move in, in zigs and zags on his returns for his longer, longer returns. But I think, you know, he's a 104 guy in high school. He's known as the fastest guy on the team. I mean, by definition, he's explosive.
Texas Homer
Yeah. Jermaine Bishop, the only young guy here as well, and coach just first thing, what do you. What did you know about Bishop in high school?
Coach Eric Naleen
Speed.
Coach Dub Eric
He has different gear. CNN versus DeSoto, and leave that entire team in the dust on, like, a jet suite. And the Soto got some guys that can run correct. They had good angles and they couldn't even catch him. It's like, okay, yeah, this guy's really got real speed.
Texas Homer
He's got speed control, too, man. Like, intelligence with his speed that I think is gonna freak defenses out.
Coach Eric Naleen
He is omnidirectional as far as an explosive athlete, which is why he could be in an elite island cover corner in college football. You can do it backwards, forwards, any, any direction you need out of him. That's what we're talking about.
Coach Dub Eric
He's.
Coach Eric Naleen
That's why he's gonna be elitist of football players, because like we talked about earlier, the patterns that football is played in are so unpredictable. You know, they change depending on where the ball goes or, you know, how you have to adjust to the ball. He's explosive in the air, going up and getting it. You know, really, the play that I. I thought where I'm like, golly, man, I don't see anybody like this is he did a hurdle and then he cut immediately off that hurdle, landed on one foot, cut immediately upfield off that. I. You know, I can't recall ever seeing that before. Yeah, he's explosiveness personified. And that's why he can go between wide receiver and cornerback and move like a cornerback when he's that cornerback and move like a receiver when he's that receiver.
Texas Homer
He's got the full picture. You know, you said it's not just agility or change of direction, but he's got explosiveness. The long speed changes. He's got it all, man. Yeah, man. I hope we can integrate him sooner,
Coach Dub Eric
put some perspective on it. This the solo play. Dylan Mitchell, I think, ran nine, maybe nine, 900. He didn't. He did not run the Soto, but Bishop did. So it's like he can move, track, speed, football speed. He has it.
Texas Homer
Relik Brown, the running back, an explosive running back. Guys, guess what? That's going to be good for us. What's really function. I think we've seen it on some. All 22.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah, well, you know, I just got done breaking down the preview, the camp preview for running backs, and obviously he featured prominently within it. Yeah, he's the. He's the type of running back that can get up to speed immediately, which again, ties right back into being explosive. You want to get him in space. If he makes one guy miss, it's open grass. He's, you know, he's gonna, everybody else can take a knee so they don't get a block in the back on him. He's, he's gonna go to the house. Doesn't need much space. You know, the, the more limited space that a running back needs, the more obviously explosive he is. You know, when they need lane or wider lane, that's, that's a sign that they, they don't have the necessary acceleration to get through it. And probably the number one trait for a running back is quickness to and through the hole. You've got it, you've got to even get there to have, have a chance to close up so quick. And they are going to close up quicker for him. He's not playing in the Pac 12 anymore or not. The Pack 12, the Big 12. He was in the pack before that, I guess. So his, his explosiveness is going to be on display this year in a number of ways. He said the other day that, you know, he's probably gonna have more catches than Hollywood Smothers. I think we all predict that as well. But you'll see that explosiveness in a couple of different ways. And right now he's getting a credible look at kick returner. Rather not. Not really punt return. That's niblet. And then Bishop is getting a look at punt return, all three. So again, that's proof right here what we're talking about. All three of those guys are in contention for punt returner.
Texas Homer
Got something here. It's always fun to see it written down. 17 rushing touchdowns in 13 games is not good. Agreed. Arch had 10 of those. Wisner 3, Clark 2, Baxter 0. Next year will have to be better. It will be better, I don't think.
Coach Eric Naleen
I mean, yeah, if you took away Wisners to, you know, rivalry games, which of course you're not going to do that. We love them for it and we still love him for it, but his average was, you know, like four, you know, for carry. And the other guys, you combine the other two, they go for over 2, 000 yards. That's Smothers and Brown at six yards of carry. And again, you know, Smothers was in the ACC, Brown was in the Big 12. It's not the same as the SEC, but just look at the tape, man. Those guys are different on tape.
Texas Homer
Ryan Nevillet has the fastest documented 100 meter time of any current Longhorn at 10:4:1. That time will be blown out of the water when Eastern oil Reports to Texas, hopefully with a 10. 17, 1 7. We'll see. We'll see.
Coach Eric Naleen
It's coming.
Texas Homer
It's coming up right, boys?
Coach Eric Naleen
No, I mean, so we, we've been watching his birthday just for, because we'd heard something back in, in the spring that gave us pause. But as we get closer, we don't think anything's gonna happen. And if he takes it into the season, it's, it's one of the rare occasion where you want this thing to play out longer. You know, Texas should be confident to let, Let the product on the field, let the wider sea re usage be known. Let. Let's see what they do with true freshman Jermaine Bishop. You know, Texas is fine with letting it play out. I will say this. You know, our sources on the Texas side have felt good about this one, despite all the noise coming from elsewhere. They've been right in the past on recruitments like this, notably Ryan Wingo and Jamie French. You know, we feel, we feel pretty good. You know, not great. But, you know, the longer it plays out, I think the better for Texas. You can continue building that relationship and then you could go and make your case on the field.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, you know what? Something sorry pointed out this past weekend. They got proof of product of what they do. It's not just selling the dream. Right. LSU can talk about what they may do, what Lane Kiffin may do, but once the season starts and they're not living up to the hype and all the things you talked about, he. He'll see the offense to see the production on the Texas side. So, yeah, I'm fine with letting it play out, letting it get into the season because Sark has proof of concept of how he gets guys the football in the space and you know how he uses them. So, yeah, let's get to the season, man.
Coach Eric Naleen
This right here that you outline is an artificial problem. There is no problem with Meredith reclassifying.
Coach Dub Eric
He's in.
Coach Eric Naleen
He's on campus. He's going to be on campus soon. Yeah, that's not a. Who cares about classes? No. Yeah.
Texas Homer
He's just saying from the rankings wise, Meredith won't be bumping those numbers up.
Coach Eric Naleen
And Easton, if they lose Royal, I mean, there's a good chance to get sales.
Coach Dub Eric
So, yeah.
Texas Homer
Yeah, that's the, that's the next play.
Coach Eric Naleen
This is pretty nice.
Texas Homer
I think they should race for pink slips. I think it should strictly be announced that Whoever wins Texas vs. LSU, Easton Royal must commit to. Let's not play these games.
Coach Eric Naleen
Let's.
Texas Homer
Let's Put it all on the line.
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, I mean, so he said. What did I say? It's a problem. I'm saying the class isn't. Who cares about the class taking a hit? The classes are solely function to feed the roster. All the. All that matters is the roster once they're on the roster. Yeah, who cares about the class ranking?
Texas Homer
So we were talking in the beginning of the episode about 11 versus 12 personnel, but really like wide receiver blocking, having big wide receivers. These are some notes. And we did a video cordon. Ian, I believe, did a video yesterday on kind of the bunch and using the wide receivers in a unique way. Eric, first 12 personnel's been a little dicey for us. We know Sark likes it because the advantages it provides schematically. So what's kind of the. What's going on there? It's going to lean more 11 or 12?
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, Stark, to his credit as a guy known for an offensive guru coach, still embraces the physical side of football. I think a lot of the offensive gurus that become head coaches kind of lose sight of that. Kind of like some of the defensive gurus, will Muschamp being one of them. Lose sight of what? You know, the, the need to put points on the board. Sark strikes a good balance to me as far as understanding what it takes to win at football. Probably time with Pete Carroll and Nick Saban helped him out. Now, the problem is they haven't really had too much luck with 12 personnel or not as much as they'd like in the last two years. Some of that's offensive line, some of that's running back, some of that's tight end blocking. Last year it was a little bit of everything in very obvious ways. And, you know, I think the biggest problem against Florida was that, you know, trying to run 12 personnel with a roster that was. Had zero chance of making that work against a defense that was talented despite not being that good this year. They upgraded the offensive line, they upgraded the running backs like we just talked about. And we do think that they've got better tight ends. So that, that makes. That makes 12 personnel more. More pliable. They. They can actually run it now. The problem is, is it the best option when you have Cam Coleman, Ryan Wingo, and Emmett Mosley? Emmett Mosley, you know, is considered wide receiver one level for, you know, much of college football. So it's, it's not about, can you run 12 personnel? We think they can. Is it their best option?
Texas Homer
No,
Coach Eric Naleen
it's.
Texas Homer
It's definitely, definitely go 11, 112 personnel is never going to be the move. And then what do they allow you to do schematically, that's unique?
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, having the three big wide receivers, you know, they've got a lot in store for that. The number one thing it does for you is it keeps you in the right matchup to run the ball. Your, your big advantage might actually be having 11 personnel running the ball at 11, because the defense is still forced to be a nickel. So they have a smaller personnel package out there. This, this coach Steve Sarcasm talks about. Forsall Billingsley weren't world beaters. Forsall was a good blocker. That's what you want out of 12 personnel. Tight end, first and foremost is being a good blocker. If Spencer Shannon could be Miller Forestall in that regard, then, yeah, I mean, Nick. Nick Townsend could be much better than Jalil Billingsley. That's what I'm saying. 12 personnel can work this year. They have to, but they have to be able to block. That's the number one thing. Forestall was a good blocker, so you
Coach Dub Eric
have to fit that role.
Coach Eric Naleen
But, yeah, they, they love bunch sets with the big wide receivers. Remember Emmett Mosley? The number one reason they brought him in was as a blocker. They obviously, they liked his hands. I don't think they thought he was going to be wide receiver one for him, but they liked his hands, liked his tenaciousness, liked his maturity and all that, but really, the blocking stood out to him. Now we're hearing about Cam Coleman being a great blocker. We know Ryan Wingo has it in him. So they feel it's a huge advantage to be in 11 personnel the ball,
Texas Homer
especially with fast backs, man. Yeah, because you can crack down, bunch in, crack down, and now you have an edge. And so I'm excited about that. I know Ian's very excited about it. He's been drawing this little, like, cocktail.
Coach Dub Eric
Great vision, Bunch. Make it happen.
Texas Homer
All right, let's finally get to Diabell, who we must not forget about. Why should we not forget about him, Eric?
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, he's really talented. Same source beating the drum on in the same source. I gotta say, he's like, you know, when we talk about bunch sets, he's like, don't forget about Jermaine Bishop. Yes, they love him and Mosley. But, you know, if you sneak Jermaine Bishop out there in those looks, it's a. Yeah, it's, it's. How do you defend those three wide receivers? So he, you know, while he's still on that rant, he goes Into Diabell. He's like, how come I see you guys talking about KJ Lacy so much? This is not a Texas. Texas source. This is a guy that has good information from the Texas side. So it's not like a coach calling me up going, hey, well, you know, but he thinks Diabell is, you know, hung the moon. And, you know, I've. I've likened Diabell to Arch Manning as a recruit. So, you know, I kind of think, yeah, but my main focus is what's going on this year. I know Diabell is talented. I saw the tape. I heard the, you know, I know how, you know, he pressed the spring. He's further along at this point than KJ was at at this point last year. But that. That's meaningless for who's. Who's more ready now. Gia Bill could be gaining on him and still not be where KJ is ready to go, you know, September 5th. So I'm a big fan of Lacey. But, yeah, there is. There's a lot of buzz around Diabell having pretty much the entire sort of archman skill set, and he does, but
Texas Homer
I didn't get to see him in spring. I got to see KJ Lacey look really confident, calm, and composed in the spring game, too. So that's a factor. If I would have saw Diabell at, you know, any level of length, then I would have felt better there.
Coach Eric Naleen
But Lacey just looks like a guy you can roll out and play right now if you have to. Right.
Texas Homer
Right.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah.
Bank of America Announcer
Yeah.
Texas Homer
It's that simple. Next up, we got intel from Coach because it wasn't just Eric's intel we got this weekend. But first, let's hear a word from Andre. Texans know when you're injured, there's one name that gets results. Andre the Lawyer Trust. The team that has secured millions for their clients and helped thousands of Texans win their injury cases. Car wrecks, slip and falls, 18 wheeler, accidents on the job, injuries, wrongful deaths. Don't let the insurance companies tell you what your claim is worth. Andre the Lawyer will fight for you. His principal office is in Dallas, but they serve Texans throughout the state, so don't wait. Call 214-444-8808. That's 214-444-8808. Contact info is in the description. Thank you, Andre. It will be really interesting to see who earns the starting QB next season between KJLC and Diabell or if it's Arch Manning.
Coach Eric Naleen
So we need to all just hope that Arch is out of here. Yeah, that means they want it all yeah, we.
Texas Homer
Yeah, exactly. We've got the rich people problems where it's like, well, if Arch can go number one overall, then we can get five star Diabell to compete with.
Coach Eric Naleen
Talking about Arch this time next year. I mean, outside of wishing him luck with the Jets.
Texas Homer
Yep, yep. Yeah, probably. It probably does have more meaning to why he would return. All right, coach, you gave us some good intel as well. I was happy to read this. Kind of breaking down where they're at in the process. Yeah, I mean, the first thing you point out is what the defense has been able to install already.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, man. Look, speaking with a source like, the defense is pretty much installed. They know it, which is a good sign for me because it's a lot. It's a lot. Will Mustam bring it in A whole new decent defense. Even though you start in the spring, you work on some foundational things to install. But to have it before even fall camp start and coaches to feel confident enough to say, hey, you know, we pretty much got the entire defense installed. Of course during the season they're going to add new wrinkles and things to it, but it shows a good sign from the veterans and the younger guys already picking up the playbook. And so to kind of put that on the field, take it to the chalkboard, out to the field, like skills and drills and to kind of go through scripts and, you know, things like that and have them communicated and get everybody lined up at a fast pace. It's pretty awesome to have that. You know what, it's almost August here, so you got, I guess camp STARTS August is August 5th. You got another week maybe. So to already have that installed and have those guys moving at a fast pace and communicating, it shows. That's a pretty good sign going into fall camp.
Texas Homer
Yeah, you said the emphasis hasn't simply been on memorizing the calls, but fully understanding the defense. That's going to be big must champs. Old playbook For Florida is 700 pages. And I think it's been pared down a bit since because, like George's was, I think 400. But it's still insane. It's insane how big these playbooks are to be able to learn it.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, I think it's more like I said, with the teaching process, like he gets their minds going when they walk into the building. It's not always about football. It's about short quizzes. Just get that mind awake when you walk into the building. I think it's kind of paid off dividends so far getting those guys learning the playbook and so. So I don't know, man. Just like you said, 400 pages, that's a lot to kind of compile into spring, in the fall, in the summer install. But if they go at a fast pace, you're doing maybe 15 to 20 plays a day and learning it, man. If you get it down and carry it to the field, that's like I said, that's a positive sign.
Texas Homer
Those quizzes are nerve wracking. I hated even in high school when you'd have the quiz coach because he's trying to sit in the room and watch film. But you got to be on your P's and Q's, man, because they're going to ask you something. It's a pain when you're a player, but it does help you get a lot better.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, it's funny when you see kids or players try to hide a script and somewhere in their clothes, right when they call a player, you're trying to read it out of the hole and run onto the field without the coaches seeing. So either they're hiding it very well, they actually understand it.
Texas Homer
Yeah. And then you have. Communication has been crisp. That's important. But most, most importantly here, very few mental mistakes. Now, that hasn't been a huge problem with the Texas defense over the past couple years. They've been the most buttoned up. So it's nice to know those guys, which means those guys were responsible players. Right. In a good culture. So that's nice to hear. The other side of the ball doesn't have that necessarily, but that's good to see if that continues because we're going to face some, some offenses and some actual quarterbacks as well. It's not, what was it two seasons ago where we faced like one starter? So we need to be ready and then offense moving quickly through the installs. Where are they at?
Coach Eric Naleen
Here, look.
Coach Dub Eric
Roughly 7%, I call it maybe like 7, 8, right. If people, when you do installs, you may have 50, 15 going into fall camp. How they split it up? Maybe 1A, 1B, right? You get like 15 to 20 plays per session. You go, you put it on the projector. Well, I caught a projector I just told my age, but they put it on the, on the overhead thing. And you, you go through 15 plays. You take that and run it on the field. Then you go to install 1B, then 2A, 2B and so on. 30, 70, they're around 7A, 7B, right? Or maybe 7B today, going through plays and stuff. They have pretty much understanding of the Offense, is it fully installed? No, it's not going to have games, a specific game game, tailored game plans for the schools, of course, on Saturdays. But to have the foundation of the offense this far. I'm ready to see what it looks like in fall camp. In pass, though. Right, because we always hear the defenses ahead of the offense. But they have this much installed already and they feel confident enough. They kind of. It's another positive sign, even for the office. Maybe they might not be that far behind the defense.
Coach Eric Naleen
Yeah.
Texas Homer
What's the word on Lock It?
Coach Eric Naleen
Do we.
Texas Homer
Have we heard anything about Locket Eric
Coach Eric Naleen
or coach, colleague Lockett? He's. Yeah, I mean, I put him in the depth chart last week. He's like. It's. It's him or Burkhalter behind Cam Coleman. But, yeah, he's coming along. I just, you know, like I've said with him, I. Everybody wants to know about these young, talented guys. You know, until I start hearing real noise in practice, I, you know, I just let them marinate. Marinate. And he's gonna have his moment at Texas. It's just you got Cam Coleman in front of. I don't expect Coleman or Ryan Wingo to come off the field a whole lot in games that at least are still undecided. But Lockett, Lockett does look good. Just. We haven't heard about him, you know, mossing people or anything like that.
Texas Homer
I'm one of the impatient ones on Lock It. I'm surprised I don't text Eric, ask about him. I think future is really bright for him.
Coach Eric Naleen
I do think the future is bright.
Coach Dub Eric
But you.
Coach Eric Naleen
Everybody's on a different timeline. It's like, you know, I could end.
Coach Dub Eric
I'm.
Coach Eric Naleen
I answer questions about Michael Terry pretty much every. Every show. That's just. Yeah, you got people in front of you. You gotta. You gotta wait your turn and keep developing and be ready for when you do get your shot. Because, you know, I guarantee you they want it to be him. After Coleman, it's just. You got Cam Coleman.
Texas Homer
You say the real evaluation begins once the pads come on, but coaches believe both units have established a strong mental foundation. Eric, can you talk about how they are trying to help the mental side of the game, especially for the offense, incorporating real game scenarios and kind of little drills and all of that?
Coach Eric Naleen
Well, I mean, if you're talking about them, you know, not wait, not going until the ball snap. That's. That's been a priority for the entire off season. We might even seen some evidence of that in that video earlier in the Show. Yeah, they're just trying to teach more discipline in, in the offensive line, particularly way too many penalties. The team in general has been too heavily penalized even, even if you factor for the offensive line. But it's been a huge emphasis all off season. Sark always says you get what you emphasize. And we'll, you know, I think in the past he's been proven right on that because, you know, a lot of times we'll talk about them emphasizing something, the off season, and then they. It's whack a mole that they fix that and then correct and then you
Texas Homer
stop emphasizing something else and you're like,
Coach Eric Naleen
wait, some new problem, some new problem pops up and it becomes the narrative of the entire season. You know, it's like a couple years ago, special teams was the issue, and last year, obviously it was offensive line and they fix those and then something else pops up.
Texas Homer
Yeah. Let's say remember what I previously emphasized and now I'm adding another round of emphasis. Right. Let's see what we got here. The young players being talked about. Rock Cummings at linebacker. I always talk about it, but he had awesome blitz in the spring game. Our young linebacker core slots so well into each position. I think the future of the linebacker room is going to be awesome, even beyond this season. But what are you hearing about Rocky?
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, look, a freshman on top of that. Rocky coming. I love it because everybody wants to talk about the linebacker room. Right. And maybe, you know, the recruiting class and there's 27 recruiting class, but you got three young guys on campus who are playing exceptionally well and that the coaches believe in. Right. And when your teammates believe in you too, it kind of, you know, it kind of says something. Right. But Rocky Cummings, another guy, I don't think this is the first time he's been mentioned either. Right. But here his name multiple, multiple times, you know, so early, I think like a great late eval. But man, like that kid came in ready to play and he's kind of showing it.
Texas Homer
Yeah, Steve, sarcasm. Always good comments. Penalty margins per game are also huge. Two games with less penalties than the opponent. Kentucky and Michigan opponents having their season lows and penalties against Texas. Yeah. It's also the, the gap that occurs there, too, that is especially dangerous if both teams are getting 18 penalties. You can, you can. You're on a equal playing field. And then this one. Fans are going to be really excited to hear about Jonah.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, I know. I think Eric mentioned something not too long ago about Jonah High. He was impressed impressing the workouts, but now to hear it again that Jonah's gonna be ready to play like he's dialed in. He's healthy. That's the main thing. He's healthy and he's back. So I think we, I mean we maybe get the Galveston ball product back to where he was Gatorade player of the year, five star. But he's looking good right now and he has beliefs of the teammates and the coaches around him. So I'm ready to see him on the field in some action though other than kickoff, kickoff return, he looks like an alien.
Texas Homer
Whenever he got in the field on the All 22, you're just your eyes automatically drawn to him. So yeah, hopefully that comes to fruition on the field very soon. And this is one Eric always brings up too to like, hey don't forget here. But Chris Stewart, one of the new wide receivers.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, look, I mean maybe forgotten man, maybe not he's talked about in the receiver room, but he just does everything right smooth. Always getting praise behind the scenes from coaches, doing things the right way. I think he's a hard worker. I think that's another kid that people don't underestimate. His, his route running him understanding the offense and putting it all together. Like I said, he might have the biggest name but that's what guys gonna earn some playing time in the future. Another guy kind of wait, you know, wait your turn and see the field. But I think once he gets on the field he's gonna pay dividends because he's always doing the right things in and outside the building.
Texas Homer
That wide receiver class Brown, Bishop Stewart I think is going to turn out to be.
Coach Eric Naleen
They're all, they're all football players first and that's like okay, this is their best position. You know, Chris Stewart is a pure football player, is a leader at Shadow Creek. Played quarterback when they needed quarterback. He could play defensive back if he needed to. He's, he's a, he could play special teams at Texas. He's a pure football player. And then of course his number one spot is, is his wide receiver. But Cohen Brown, Cohen Brown could be a high level of college safety and Jermaine Bishop could be a high level cornerback. If it's these guys profile better. So you love the fact that they're not pitching hold as receivers. Receivers can be diva. They can lack toughness. These guys are all tough and team first order guys.
Texas Homer
Question, do you think they will utilize more of the playbook with the twos and threes playing time than in prior years? Hopefully this could speed up development so this is.
Coach Eric Naleen
Got to get some leads, man.
Texas Homer
So that's the point. Me and Ian always argue about this.
Coach Eric Naleen
Crazy. It's been driving me crazy for 10 years. Even Tom Herman teams didn't get leads when they were had were way better than the opponent. Drives me crazy. You can't develop players nearly as fast if they're not playing.
Texas Homer
Yep. So that's the reality. Especially now. Non conference is down to three games and one of those is Ohio State and the other two are respectable teams. But still it is nice to hang 60 on those teams so your guys can get reps earlier in the season. But we don't tend to do that. So I don't. The answer to this question is I don't know. Unless there's some philosophical change about the all gas portions of all Gas. No breaks. So we'll have to see. But it is, I think a flaw in development for the young players early on in the season. I want to grow the game so every kid can fall in love with soccer like I did. So I asked myself, what would you like the power to do? My answers inspired me to invent a pop up soccer goal that can turn any basketball court into a street soccer pitch.
Bank of America Announcer
Bank of America champion street soccer advocate Kyle Martino and everyone who dares to ask, what would you like the power to do? Bank of America proud to be the Official bank of U.S. soccer and FIFA World Cup 2026 bank of America NA Member FDSE.
Texas Homer
A loaded secondary. I agree. And they haven't turned against each other, right? You got to watch dbs, man. Those islands can lead to some aggression at times, but seems like that's not happening.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, I know what the dbs. We did have one little small piece on Nicholas Robinson. I know Eric's almost.
Texas Homer
Oh yeah, I missed that. Sorry. Talk about Robertson.
Coach Dub Eric
He got there. He's a summer enrollee, right? Graduated. So you can call him a late arrival, but man, he's came in with a chip on the shoulder. I think the biggest thing with him was getting in shape, Right? But Robinson is a football player. I saw this guy in person at the Under Armour camp. Dominate and move people, right? But he's came in with a chip on the shoulder, getting in shape, getting his weight down. He was already working on learning the playbook before he got to Texas. So he came in, he didn't want to come in behind, but he's putting in the work. He's earned the trust of a lot of veterans so far like Robinson. Hey, I like that kid a lot. He's Underrated, underdog. But I'm telling you, he put the pads on. He's a dog.
Coach Eric Naleen
I was at that same Under Armour camp and it's a little thing because it's not that important. But you know, watching the. Watching the offensive lineman sprint, he was the most athletic guy there. Just watching the way he moved and of course that's going to translate to the football field. We don't care about the times necessarily. I have no clue what he ran. All I know is I watch Kennedy Brown run, who's a five star. And if you just watch those two guys run the sprint, you would take Nick Robertson 1000% of the time. Yeah, he's. He's athletic on top of being a
Texas Homer
bowling ball secondary group. Second highest upside on the team after Edge. I think I would have to agree with you, Ryan.
Coach Eric Naleen
Highest upside. What are we writing there? You got a quarterback that could set records. You got the wide receiver room, which
Texas Homer
quarterback room is not even fun because it's one guy. So it's like, I will. I will grant wide receiver, but quarterback room. We are talking about one human being. We're. I like the upside of just like five guys being able to go out.
Coach Eric Naleen
All right, let's discount that. But you got to go wide receivers. Second highest upside.
Texas Homer
Yeah. The problem is like, well, I guess this doesn't apply to Edge, but like wide receiver to me is not even upside. It's like already. It's already there. But like, when I think of the dbs, it's like, dude, there is so much potential energy in this room.
Coach Eric Naleen
I was thinking about this exact thing yesterday. If you look at the production, because. Because Cam Coleman was so grossly underused at Auburn. There's a massive ceiling there. And then we already saw how many yards were left on the field, A from either Manning or B from Wingo last year that the production could skyrocket in that room.
Texas Homer
Well, mostly he's been hurt too. Right? So, yeah, it's. I think just DBs have the most of like. I'm pretty sure these guys are good, but haven't seen it yet.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, I feel.
Coach Eric Naleen
I feel good. I feel. I do feel good about the corners and the safety. I feel good about that room. I mean, like we talked about earlier in the show, look how many sets of eyes they got on it.
Texas Homer
Yeah. What are you hearing about them, Coach?
Coach Dub Eric
They're embracing competition. Look, there's a lot of guys who can start across the country for a lot of teams in this cornerback room.
Bank of America Announcer
Right.
Coach Dub Eric
I mean, they got a lot of number One corners, if you ask me, from veterans to young guys. But they're kind of embracing that. They know that they got to bring it every single day. Right. There's no slack off on and off the field. Right. You're competing. But they kind of, like I said, they embrace that. Right. And that's good because you may be counting on during the season, somebody goes down or needs a breather or whatever the case may be. There's not a drop off in a level of play, honestly. And that, that's always a good sign of a healthy secondary room. And so even with, I know John Meredith is not there yet, but they're ready to welcome in the open arms, like, hey, come on, let's get this work. Let's go to work. You need to learn this playbook when you get here, we're going to help you get here. It's not about status. It's not about, oh, he's going to take my reps. It's like, no, we may need you. So let's get you up to speed. Right. And so we talk about culture of this program. This is a direct message to that.
Coach Eric Naleen
Right.
Coach Dub Eric
Because they're not worried about some starting positional reps. They're worried about winning games. Right. And having the best players on the field. If that's me, great. If it's not, then I'm gonna work to knock you off and become that number one corner again. Right. But it's competition, it's embracing in this culture. So to hear that, because, I mean, I guess cornerbacks are not receivers, they're not divas. Right? Right. It's the opposite of a mindset. But to kind of hear that and have the kind of that culture, the mindset, I love it. Right. Because it's not gonna be, like I said, a drop off and play when it goes from one corner to the next. And I mean, they're stacked for years to come. I mean, you look at the third string guys and I know they can start anywhere pretty much.
Texas Homer
Yeah. And they're not divas, but they can be mean. And so that's why you have to watch them. Because the good ones talk a lot of trash, man. So you just have to make sure they can keep harmony within their room because they're also competitive and trash talkers, but they're not. You're definitely right.
Coach Eric Naleen
I've heard about them policing the program in the past though, you know.
Texas Homer
Yeah.
Coach Eric Naleen
We'll see if anything comes up, you know, about, you know, when Ole Miss comes to town and everybody's Talking about John Tay Cook. They've. They've policed the program before.
Texas Homer
I like that note, man. They don't forget, man.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah, that's gonna be a good one.
Coach Eric Naleen
It will be.
Texas Homer
It will. I didn't even. I don't even think about that when I think of Ole Miss. But, yeah, that is a. That's gonna be a fun storyline.
Coach Dub Eric
Well, Cook is gonna say something online on Twitter and get everybody around Instagram, and that's to. Going, gonna. It's gonna spike it up.
Texas Homer
But that's. Yeah, that's to our benefit. I like the WWE version at times. And then Fridays, earn your weekend workout reflects the team's mentality. So earn your weekend just means it's got to absolutely suck, right?
Coach Dub Eric
Man, look, Friday workouts can be grueling because they're not gonna see it. See the guys until, I guess, Sunday again, they come in team meetings, and so you got to earn your weekend. They're embracing the challenge, though. Most times I've been around, you know, players, like, man, here comes Friday's workout. Like, they're dreading. They don't even want to go in the building. They're like, it doesn't matter what the challenge is. Whatever Coach Beckton is going to have to do, let's go attack it, right? And to kind of have that mindset, it kind of flips the switch. And not just one player individual, but the entire team, right? Like, they want to embrace the workout. They want to embrace the challenge. Let's go kill it. And I think that's. That's going to bode well in the season, because no matter what they face, they don't want to hear about the situation. They don't want to hear about the challenges. Just go face and go knock it out the park. And so they took the word earn your meeting to a whole new level. Like, let's go attack this workout. Which probably make Coach Beckton say, okay, you guys are like, my workouts better. I'm gonna turn up even more. But the further you can push your athletes, the better.
Coach Eric Naleen
Those Fridays are the worst. They do the. You know, they do the short agility stuff on Tuesday and Thursday, which are brutal enough because, you know, you think it's short. You get a break now, you just keep it moving so fast that you don't really get a break. But then the Fridays are the grueling, the longer sprints, the. The sevens that, you know, where we saw that Kalique Lockett video emerge from, where he's out in front of everybody. Just the longer Sprints and this. Yeah. And that's by design. The coaching staff knows they have a day to recover from that or two days to recover from that. And they're going to work their CNS into the ground and they're going to need that recovery time.
Texas Homer
And the psychologic. It matters, man. Those harder long runs, man, that does. It does build the mental game for sure. Jet says that it's awful.
Coach Eric Naleen
That's why nobody outworks track and field athletes. And it's. It's because of those long sprint workouts. Nobody wants a part of that.
Texas Homer
Yeah. It's not just the physical conditioning and there's a mental conditioning component, but those at Texas are legendary. Like, every transfer that comes in is like, doesn't matter if they're from Ohio
Coach Eric Naleen
State or Georgia or whatever they are.
Texas Homer
Like, this is absolutely something different. All right, so we got a lot of good notes. We got fall camp. Are. Are you guys call it fall camp?
Coach Eric Naleen
What's.
Texas Homer
Yalls.
Coach Eric Naleen
I don't. I need to really sit down and have a talk with myself about. I need to. I need to come to a conclusion here because I use fall preseason and August and, you know, it's. It's. It's a mess. I've gotta. I gotta do better.
Texas Homer
So Joe won't permit it because it's technically not fall.
Coach Eric Naleen
Right.
Texas Homer
Is that his.
Coach Eric Naleen
But my, My retort to him, and we've had this conversation is that you're preparing for fall.
Texas Homer
Right. That's how I take. I call it fall camp. It makes sense to me, but I can hear people be like, august is
Coach Eric Naleen
not fall preseason camp. Sounds too professional to me.
Texas Homer
Yeah.
Coach Eric Naleen
Fall camp. Fall camp can only mean football.
Coach Dub Eric
Yeah.
Coach Eric Naleen
I think I might just stick with fall camp. You know what? There's. Well, yeah, Joe's not gonna be pushing us around about that one much longer.
Texas Homer
Yeah. So, yeah, I think fall camp is very obvious, but I know people feel very strongly about that word.
Coach Eric Naleen
Select August camp sounds stupid too. It's just. There's no personality to it.
Texas Homer
Yeah.
Coach Eric Naleen
I don't know.
Coach Dub Eric
I think.
Bank of America Announcer
I don't know.
Coach Eric Naleen
I think I'm just gonna stick with fall camp. You know, that, that we have a group of like 75 plus guys on the board. I'm sure they'll all appreciate that.
Texas Homer
Yeah, absolutely. They're known for their flexibility. All right, everybody, I want you guys to head over to Inside Texas. If you are not a member, here's what we're going to do for you.
